Do you guys think data got flustered when his metal and wires were exposed, like he turns his emotion chip on, and he immediately starts to cover his face while stuttering something about feeling exposed. Whenever he needs maintenance done, he gets really shy and talks about it like it's some taboo thing.

So I just decided to render the speedpaint videos for this month's Patreon rewards and instead VLC corrupted all my files when I tried to convert them from mkv to mp4 and it overwrote the originals so now I have nothing, lost all the process of the two illustrations I had done and it's almost the end of the month and I have to paint and record the process of two new illustration in a couple of days before I have to leave on a trip 🙃

Daily reminder that Data glows to Geordi. That Data has an identifier no other being Geordi is in contact with has.
I wonder if it makes Data easy to spot in a crowd. If Geordi always finds himself naturally drifting towards him because he’s just.. right there. Always gold. A steady beat that doesn’t dim, that he can find with such simplicity because he stands out in the best way to him. Because everyone else is shadowed and vague and he has to carefully remember which impressionistic idea of a human is which, and Data’s ever present consistency brings him to his side time and time again. How Data is so special in so many ways, and his aura is just one more thing that makes him near perfect to Geordi.

Of my team of 5 developers I am the only one with frontend/UI experience (yay fullstack developers let’s go!) and I swear to god if I get asked another question I am going to lose it.
Why on gods green earth are you still writing code when you haven’t even tested the page actually fucking loads??? “I wanted to finish it all before testing” that’s not how things work you dumbass!
I have resorted to linking them the React documentation instead of trying to explain it.

wish I could go back in time and show this to the guy in 2019 who told me I was “paranoid” and “clearly didn’t understand the technology” when I said I was against OMNY because it had too much potential to be used to track individuals.

Really awesome command-line programs I've discovered on GitHub
I'm a data hoarder, so all of these have to do with downloading and saving media. I also use a Mac, so all of these are MacOS-compliant via Homebrew. If you also use a Mac (or Linux), do yourself a favor and install Homebrew via Terminal right now- all you need to do is copy-paste a line of code into Terminal and it will open you up to tons of awesome programs that normally only run on Windows.
Anyway, onto the list!
Yt-dlp (Youtube/Video downloader): On top of letting you rip Youtube videos directly from the site, this program supports a huge array of other video/media websites. The program is highly customizable as well; I would highly recommend at least installing FFmpeg, which allows you to download videos in quality higher than the default 720p. Here's a guide on how to do that for Windows and I wrote a guide here for Mac (I forgot to write in the guide that you should install FFmpeg via Homebrew).
Mangadex-dl (Mangadex downloader): Allows you to download manga directly from Mangadex, the hub of scanlation. Like yt-dlp it is customizable and you can pick which chapters you want to download (useful if you only want to download current chapters you haven't gotten before).
Gallery-dl (Bulk image downloading): A godsend for an art-hoarder like me, this program allows you to bulk download things like Pixiv pages, Twitter galleries, Deviantart galleries, Instagram pages, etc. Like yt-dlp it is highly customizable. Some websites (like Pixiv) may require user authentication; the GitHub page outlines the steps each authentication process requires.
List of other command line programs you might find interesting on GitHub
I'm sure I'll add to this list as I find more cool stuff on GitHub!

I think what really kicked in my whole rants about internet privacy was that time I went to Google and it showed my home city address right there on the bottom, even after I told it not to use my location. I remember a time when that was an unthinkable breach of privacy. Now they were almost flaunting it. It's like "yes, we know where you are, what are you gonna do about it?"
In fact, you log into Google Maps and the first thing it offers you, before anything that could be used as a service like say local events, is a prompt to enter your home and work address. It's insane.
It was always insane, actually, and I know ticking some boxes won't exactly stop all the data collection. But it was almost insulting to me. It really opened my eyes to say "oh, this has gone too far". I've always used Firefox and other free software, but now that everything is turning to shit, I'm accelerating my plans to move away from Google, Microsoft, Meta, and basically everything else.
