"You know what? This is the first time ever someone threw me a birthday party. Before this, people disliked me. I was a bad-mouthed rich boy. Look how it turned out today; I didn't even recognize some of them, yet they agreed to come and wish me a happy birthday."

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾
You were a comely girl, always have been so it was no surprise that the Lord Stark had taken an interest in you during his time in the Red Keep- in which you were sent by members of your house to try and get your family back into the good books of the people in the court.
A feat you weren’t so successful in, having been turned away by numerous people or called horrid things behind your back sometimes plainly to your face. Every day spent at court was a blow to your pride, and gods did it make you a bitter person.
Cregan Stark found entertainment in your company, through his blunt banter and snarky remarks the way in which you would come back at him with all your might. Before he knew it he was completely infatuated with you and made an offer you simply couldn’t refuse, leaving Kings Landing.
Sometimes you regret ever accepting the damn deal.
“Get any closer and you’ll set that pretty blonde hair of yours on fire.” His rough voice breaks through the silence from his place at the desk where he had been reading through a couple of letters.
You roll your eyes, shuffling closer to the flames that crackle and snap within the hearth just in spite at the sound of his chuckle. He watches you closely, marvelling at how the warm orangey light of the flames splay across your face making your hair glow like fine threads of golden silk.
“Perhaps if it weren’t so cold then I wouldn’t have to sit this close.” You huff, pulling his furs that you had stolen over your shoulders.
“Winterfell is built upon a hot spring, the castle is plenty warm you’re just looking for an excuse to whine.” He says and you can practically hear the smirk that tugs on his handsome face.
You don’t answer him, instead letting silence and the soft sounds of the fireplace overtake your shared bedchambers however your lack of response doesn’t deter Cregan from continuing.
“You should wear something warmer than silks and airy dresses, my sweet.” The words are laced with amusement, he leans forward on his chair, resting his elbows on his knees, searching your unimpressed expression with his dark eyes.
“And wear dull shades greys?… no thank you.” You tell him, not wanting to accept the fact that perhaps there was slight truth to his words, still not meeting his gaze.
“So you’d rather freeze for the sake of what? Fashion? Very smart of you.” He replies sarcastically. “Especially for a Lannister, quite impressive my love.”
Your head snaps over to his direction, glaring up at him with narrowed eyes as he all but smirks back at you. He never failed to rile you up, bringing you to a burning point only to leave you all frustrated or worse— when he touches you in such a reverent way that makes you feel like a goddess, you couldn’t help but completely bend to his will. You swear he takes joy in bruising your pride.
He reaches over, brushing a curl of your hair behind your ear with a tenderness that he’s only ever shown to you and somehow just like that your anger ebbs away like snow underneath a summer's sun.
But you wouldn’t succumb that quickly and so you shrug off his hand, turning back to the fireplace with a small huff and he laughs because he knows- despite your little show- that he has you right where he wants you.
Cregan stands up from his chair, making his way over to a much more comfortable one that sits in front of the grand fireplace— closer to you. Despite how much you both clash at times he loves you, ever so dearly. He had defended you countless times back in Kings Landing and Winterfell, against anyone who dared try to speak poorly upon your name. Not just because of his marriage vows or honour, but because he sees you as you are not the hardened women the years had made of you.
There was a warmth to you, he’d seen it in glimpses. The way you care for his son as if he were your own, how you have your maids bring two cups of tea- one for him and one for you- to sate his sweet tooth.
You push yourself up from the floor, trying to distance yourself from him but he’s quick to catch your hips in his big hands. With a wolfish grin, he tugs you onto his lap and you accept defeat, it was too tiring to fight a man so headstrong.
“I’ll warm you up if you’re still cold.” He mumbles gruffly, wrapping his arms around your waist to hold you tightly against his chest.
The warmth from his study body melts away the tension between your shoulder blades and you can’t help but sigh in contentment, leaning against him as he tugs you impossibly closer to him.
His hands caress the curve of your hips, looking up at you with a lazy smile. “I am still a little cold, I wouldn’t mind.” You reply playfully, trailing your fingertips along his cheek in small patterns.
“Ah, there she is…” Cregan whispers, relishing at the sight of your smile that you try so hard to fight off.
“Yes, yes, marvel whilst you can, it won’t last long.” The words make Cregan chuckle, his hands mapping out the outline of your body, caressing along your ribcage.
“Then I shall marvel with all my heart.” He promises, pressing a kiss against your shoulder, then another to your jaw. The wispy hairs of his beard tickle your skin as he nuzzles against you on purpose.
A pleasured hum escapes you by accident and by the way he smirks against your neck you can tell he’s holding back some sort of snarky comment, instead choosing to savour this moment and the way you lean into his touch.
He takes his time, showering your shoulders in kisses- trailing his lips up to the soft curve of your jaw and pushing the furs that drape over your shoulders off until they’re sitting on the floor leaving you in just a thin silky dress.
“What’s gotten you in such a mood, huh?” Cregan asks, leaning back against the cushioned sofa to really drink in the sight of you perched upon his lap.
You shrug your shoulders, lacing your fingers with his own. “I feel out of place, more so than often.” The words send an ache through his chest, his brows immediately furrowing at the confession.
It wasn’t a new thing for him to hear, however, that never made it any easier. Cregan remembers the first night you arrived in the North, the tears— gods, you were inconsolable. He understood why, the place was far from home and the people were hardened by the cold weather and then there was you… the complete opposite in every way, that’s why he spent all night whispering words of comfort and holding you.
“Silly girl, come here.” He says, coaxing you to lay against his chest and without hesitation, you curl up into him, your head resting on his shoulder as his fingers brush through your silken hair. “I’d have no one else by my side except you, my girl, understand?” He whispers, pressing a kiss against your hairline.
You nod against his shoulder, melting against him with a small sigh. “Mhm, of course, I do.” Your words are muffled against the soft fabric of his tunic, the smell of firewood and leather clinging to him- it was comforting, like home.
Cregan tilts your head upwards slightly, his gaze softening as he admires your face. “Don’t doubt the place you have in my heart… ever.” He tells you with a loving tone, so soft and caring, before leaning down to steal a delicate kiss from your lips.

Tumblr media
Sunday, 11:49 PM
The club was loud and chaotic, with people dancing, yelling, and drinking. The lights flashed colors in time to the music, giving off a disorienting feeling. The room was stuffy and hot, with people packed together like sardines, attempting to talk over the music and flirt with strangers
This club was like a small universe within itself, with each group doing its own thing and making a lot of noise while doing so. The music was loud enough to drown out any conversation that would have otherwise been attempted, and the alcohol only helped the chaos grow.
Some people were there to celebrate and have a good time, laughing and dancing with their friends to the music. Others were sulking and sad, either nursing a drink or trying to drown their miseries with alcohol.
Lewis was one of the people there to celebrate, and he was having the time of his life. They were all drinking and dancing in the center of the crowd, laughing and talking loudly to be heard over the music.
Unlike Lewis, who was having the time of his life on the dance floor, Y/n was at the bar with one of her friends. She was downing shot after shot, her mood sour and her temper short. The alcohol was dulling the edges of her anger.
Tumblr media
Y/n
With a sigh, I slammed my glass down on the bar, my temper flaring. Lyka turned to me, her gaze curious and concerned as she asked, "So what did your father say that's got you in such a mood?"
I grumble, my irritation and bitterness clear in my voice. "My dad said I could inherit the company, but..."
I trail off, my mind swirling with the implications of my father's statement. Though part of me was undoubtedly happy to know that the family business would one day be mine, there was something else that bothered me.
Lyka picked up on my hesitation and leaned in closer to ask, "But what? You should be happy about that, right?"
I snort derisively, my shoulders tensing. "Yeah, I should be happy... But there's a catch, of course. There always is with him."
She frowns, sensing the weight of my discontentment. "What kind of catch are we talking about here?"
My words came out sharp and bitter, my eyes hardening. "I have to get married. That's the catch. My dad said I can inherit the company, but I have to be married first."
She gasps in surprise, clearly not expecting such a stipulation. "Wait, seriously? He's telling you that you have to be MARRIED just to inherit the company?"
I nod grimly, my expression darkening. "Yeah, that's the deal. I've got to find someone to settle down with if I ever want to take over the family business," I chuckled sarcastically. "It's ridiculous, I know."
Lyka's eyes widen, her face filled with sympathy. "damn, that's... rough. You don't even get a say in who you marry?"
I nod, my expression a mixture of frustration and resignation. "Yeah, that was the compromise. I get to choose who I marry but must be married within the next year. It's like he doesn't trust me to run the company by myself."
She lets out a sympathetic sigh, reaching out to comfort me. "That's so unfair, you shouldn't have to get married just to prove yourself. But I guess it's better than having someone picked for you, huh?"
I nodded grudgingly, letting out a small huff. "Yeah, I guess so. It's just… I'm not even sure if I want to get married at all, you know? The whole idea of it just feels so… I don't know, constraining, I guess."
Tumblr media
Her friend nods, trying to shift the conversation to a lighter topic. "Okay, enough about your dad's stupid rule. Let's talk about something else. How's work been going for you?"
Y/n takes the chance to change the subject, grateful for the distraction. "Work's been alright. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time for anything fun."
"Yeah, I know how that is," her friend replies sympathetically. "It feels like work just takes over your life sometimes. But hey, at least you're making some good money, right?"
Y/n lets out a dry chuckle, her mood lightening slightly. "Oh, yeah. I'm making really good money. So good that I practically live at the office these days."
Lyka laughs as well, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Damn, girl. Sounds like you're going to be rolling in it if you take over the company. You'll be able to buy anything and everything you've ever wanted."
Y/n grins, a little spark of hope reigniting at the thought. "Yeah, that's true. I could buy a nice house, or take fancy vacations whenever I want. I could pretty much do whatever I want, really."
Y/n's grin fades, her expression turning thoughtful. "But… I won't be able to take those vacations with a husband, would I? It would mean having to consider someone else's schedule and preferences, and I wouldn't be able to just take off whenever I want anymore."
Her friend nods sympathetically, her gaze understanding. "Yeah, that's a good point. Having a partner would definitely change things, especially when it comes to travel and leisure. It's not quite the same as having the freedom to go where and when you want, without any strings attached."
Y/n lets out a sigh, her irritation beginning to return. "Exactly. And it's not just the travel that's the issue. It's the whole idea of having to compromise and make sacrifices for someone else. I don't know if I'm ready for that, or if I ever will be."
The girls down another shot, the alcohol giving them a pleasant buzz. Y/n, feeling a little looser now, turns to her friend. "Hey, you know what? Let's go dance. We didn't come here just to sit at the bar all night, right?"
Her friend grins and nods in agreement, clearly ready to cut loose. "Yeah, let's do it. I could use some movement after hearing about your dad's ridiculous rule."
Y/n pushes away from the bar, her steps a little unsteady as the alcohol takes effect. Lyka laughs and steadies her, both of them making their way to the crowded dance floor.
They push their way through the sea of people, the music and lights creating a chaotic and energizing atmosphere. Y/n begins to sway and move to the beat. Lyka joins in, both of them letting go of their worries and simply enjoying the moment.
As Y/n is dancing, she suddenly feels the presence of someone behind her, close enough to dance but still leaving a respectful distance. Startled at first, she quickly realizes is being careful not to violate her space.
Y/n turns her head to catch a glimpse of who's behind her, her curiosity and excitement growing.
Her eyes widen as she turns and sees a man behind her. His hands are covered in intricate tattoos, drawing attention to his veiny hands and making her curious to know the stories behind them. But what truly captures her attention is his smile, a warm, charming grin that seems to light up his whole face.
"Hey," Y/n says, her voice a little breathless as she takes in his appearance.
His grin grows broader, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Hey there," he replies, his voice carrying over the music. "I hope you don't mind me joining in. You looked like you were having a good time."
Y/n laughs, the alcohol helping her loosen up. "No, it's fine. I don't mind at all. I was just surprised, that's all."
She continues to dance, her movements more fluid and relaxed now that she has someone to dance with. She glances over at the man, taking in his tattoos and his easygoing demeanor.
The man dances alongside her, his steps matching hers effortlessly. He moves with a grace and confidence that is almost captivating, his body flowing with the rhythm of the music. Every now and then, he'll glance at her, his gaze lingering for a moment before darting away again.
As they continue to dance, he takes the opportunity to introduce himself. "By the way, I'm Lewis," he says, his voice smooth and pleasant to the ears. "What's your name?"
Y/n glances at him with a smile, appreciating his forwardness. "I'm Y/n," she replies, her voice a little louder to be heard over the music. "It's nice to meet you, Lewis."
Lewis nods, his smile widening at her response. "Y/n. A pretty name for a pretty lady." He glances at her again, his gaze openly admiring her appearance.
Y/n feels a little thrill at his compliment, her cheeks heating slightly under his gaze. She glances back at him, her eyes taking in his tattoos and his confidence. "You're not so bad yourself," she replies with a flirtatious undertone.
Lewis raises an eyebrow at her response, a smirk playing at the corner of his mouth. "Is that a compliment I hear?" he replies with a hint of amusement. "Careful now, you might make me blush."
Y/n grins, enjoying the banter between them. "Oh, please. I doubt a guy like you blushes easily. You're probably used to girls fawning over you all the time."
Lewis lets out a laugh, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "You're right about that. I do get my fair share of attention, but it's nice to have a conversation with someone who's not afraid to give me a little snark back."
Y/n grins, her earlier irritation completely forgotten as she dances with Lewis. "Oh, I can definitely give you snark. And don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're cute."
Lewis raises an eyebrow again, clearly enjoying their back-and-forth banter. "Oh, I would expect nothing less. It wouldn't be as much fun if you went easy on me, now would it?"
Y/n chuckles and leans closer to Lewis, the alcohol giving her a bit of courage. "Hey, if you're gonna keep me entertained with your witty banter, the least you can do is buy me a drink."
Lewis grins, clearly enjoying her demanding tone. "Oh, you drive a hard bargain, Y/n. But I think I can manage that."
He offers her his hand, a smirk on his face. "Come on, let's head back to the bar. What do you want to drink?"
Y/n takes his hand and follows him towards the bar, feeling a little flutter in her stomach. "I'll take a vodka soda, thanks," she replies, her gaze lingering on his tattoos again.
Lewis nods and leads her through the crowded club, his grip firm and reassuring on her hand. They reach the bar and he signals for the bartender, calling out Y/n's drink order. As they wait for their drinks, he turns to her with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"So," he says, leaning in close to be heard over the music. "You said you're not afraid to give me snark. Does that mean I have to watch my words, or are you just full of empty threats?"
Y/n laughs, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, I'm a woman of my word. If you say something stupid, you can bet I'll call you out on it. Don't underestimate me, Lewis."
Lewis grins, clearly enjoying her feisty personality. "Oh, I wouldn't dream of it. In fact, I find a woman with a sharp tongue quite refreshing. It keeps me on my toes, you know?"
Y/n smiles, his comment making her heart flutter a bit more. "Well, you better get used to it then. Because I don't plan on holding back, no matter how charming you are."
"Good," Lewis replies, his voice low and sultry. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Just then, the bartender slides their drinks over to them, interrupting their conversation. Lewis hands Y/n her vodka soda, his fingers brushing against hers in the process.
Y/n feels a shiver run up her spine as their fingers touch, his touch sending tiny sparks across her skin. She takes a sip of her drink, the alcohol instantly making her feel more relaxed and carefree.
Lewis sips his own drink, eyeing her over the rim of his glass with a sly smile. "So, Y/n," he says, his tone a little more serious now. "What brings a woman like you out dancing by herself on a Friday night?"
Y/n glances around the club, her gaze landing on her friend who is dancing nearby. "Oh, I'm not actually here alone," she replies, her voice slightly amused. "My friend is over there. We came together, but she ditched me to dance with some guy."
Y/n turns to Lewis and gestures in the direction of her friend. "See that girl over there? The one who's talking to the DJ? That's my friend. She left me here to go flirt with him."
Lewis turns to look at the DJ, his eyes lighting up in recognition. "Whoa, wait a minute," he says, his tone tinged with surprise. "That's actually my friend, Lando."
Y/n raises an eyebrow at this new bit of information. "Wait, really? You know the DJ?"
Lewis nods, a small smirk on his face. "Yeah, we've known each other for a while. We met a few years back. We've been friends ever since."
Y/n takes a moment to process this new information, glancing over at her friend and Lando. "Well, I guess that explains why she's been dancing with him all night then."
Lewis laughs, clearly amused by the situation. "Looks like it. Lando has a way of charming the ladies. Seems like your friend isn't immune to it either."
Y/n chuckles. "Clearly not. She's practically drooling over him. But I can't blame her, he does have a certain charm."
"That he does," Lewis agrees, taking a sip of his drink. "He's a good guy, but he's got quite the reputation with the ladies. He has a new girl on his arm every weekend, it seems."
Y/n shakes her head with a smile, diverting the conversation back to Lewis. "Okay, enough about my friend and Lando. I want to know more about you."
Lewis grins, clearly enjoying her attention. "Oh, do you now? And what exactly do you want to know about me?"
Lewis chuckles at her question and replies, with a hint of mystery. "Well, I'm certainly older than you, that's for sure. Let's just say I've got a bit more experience under my belt."
Y/n grins, his response only making her more curious. "Oh, so you're an experienced one, huh? How much experience exactly? Or are you going to keep me in suspense?"
Lewis smirks, clearly enjoying their banter. "Now, Y/n, where's the fun in giving away all my secrets at once? You'll have to be patient if you want to find out more about me."
Y/n feigns disappointment, her expression exaggerated. "Oh, you're going to make me wait, huh? Fine, I guess I'll have to be patient. But I warn you, I'm not a very patient person."
Lewis relents, his smile widening as he answers her question. "Alright, since you're so insistent. I'm 39."
Her eyes widen in surprise, and she lets out a whistle. "Seriously? You're 39? I thought you were younger, like early 30s at the oldest."
Lewis chuckles, clearly enjoying her reaction. "I guess I'll take that as a compliment. I may be a bit older, but I like to think I still have a young heart, you know?"
Y/n grins, her initial surprise replaced by a touch of admiration. "That's impressive. You definitely don't act your age. You still look and act like you're in your 20s."
Lewis shrugs, a hint of pride in his gaze. "I take care of myself. I work out, eat healthy, and stay active. I guess it pays off, huh?"
Y/n nods approvingly, taking in his toned physique. "Yeah, it definitely does. You look like you could give guys half your age a run for their money."
Lewis quirks an eyebrow, a curious smile on his lips. "Alright, speaking of age, now it's my turn to ask. How old are you, Y/n?"
She takes a sip of her drink before answering, a touch of nervousness in her tone. "I'm 28," she replies, trying to sound nonchalant.
His eyes widen slightly, a look of surprise crossing his face. "28, huh? You look younger. I would have guessed you were in your mid-20s, tops."
Y/n chuckles, a mix of pride and embarrassment in her tone. "Thanks, I guess. I try to take care of myself too. I don't want to look like a fossil anytime soon."
Lewis laughs, clearly amused. "Fair enough. It's always good to stay young at heart, no matter your age. And it seems like you're doing a pretty good job of it so far."
Y/n grins, feeling bolder now. "Well, you know what they say - age is just a number, right? It's all about how you feel inside. And I feel pretty young and free right now."
Lewis nods in agreement, a twinkle in his eye. "That's a good attitude to have. Life is too short to let age define you. You gotta embrace every moment, no matter how old or young you are."
Y/n grins, raising her glass in agreement. "Here, here. To embracing every moment, no matter how old or young we are."
They clink their shot glasses together and take a swig, the alcohol burning their throats and adding to the already buzzing feeling in their systems.
Tumblr media
Fast forward to a few hours later, Y/n and Lewis are both feeling the effects of the alcohol kicking in. Their movements are looser, their inhibitions lower, and their words a little bit slurred. They're both laughing and talking animatedly, the boundaries between them disappearing with every drink they take.
Y/n leans against the bar, her head spinning slightly, her gaze fixed on Lewis who is standing next to her. "You know, Lewis, you're not so bad when you're drunk," she slurs, a lazy smile on her face.
Lewis grins back at her, his eyes slightly glassy from the alcohol. "And you're not too bad yourself, Y/n. In fact, you're a damn good drinking partner."
Y/n throws her head back in a drunken giggle, feeling lightheaded and carefree. "Oh, I'm the best drinking partner you've ever had, buddy. I can out-drink you anytime, anyday."
Lewis leans closer to Y/n's ear, his breath warm on her skin as he slurs out a suggestion. "Hey, you wanna go somewhere a bit more private? Somewhere away from all these people?"
Y/n turns to him, her eyes sparkling with mischief. The alcohol has made her bolder and carefree, and she doesn't hesitate to agree. "Yeah, let's do it. Let's get away from this crowd. Leady the way, Lewis."
Lewis grins, his hand wrapping around hers as he leads her away from the packed nightclub. They weave through the sea of people, their steps a bit unsteady as the alcohol continues to flow through their systems.
They finally reach a quieter corner of the club, a more secluded area away from the hustle and bustle of the dance floor. Lewis leans against the wall, pulling Y/n closer to him, his hands resting on her hips.
Y/n stumbles a little as she steps closer, her body against his. Her head is spinning a bit, and her senses are heightened by the alcohol. She looks up at him, her eyes half-lidded. "This is better. Just you and me, away from the crowd."
Lewis nods in agreement, his eyes dark with desire as he looks down at her. His hands grip her hips tighter, pulling her closer. "Just you and me, Y/n. No one to bother us, no distractions."
They stand there, their bodies pressed together, gazes locked in a silent, charged moment. For a few seconds, time seems to stand still as they take each other in, their breathing heavy and their hearts pounding in their chests.
The air between them crackles with electricity, their connection undeniable. Lewis' hands move up from her hips, tracing along her sides, and Y/n shivers at his touch, her skin tingling from his caress.
Lewis pulls her even closer, their bodies now flush against each other. Y/n can feel every muscle, every contour of his body against hers, and she can't help but shiver again. She lifts her chin, her lips parting slightly as she gazes up at him, her eyes hooded with desire.
Without warning, Lewis loses control and closes the gap between them, his lips crashing into hers in a kiss that's all hunger and need. It's a messy, sloppy kiss, fueled by the alcohol and the mounting tension between them.
Y/n responds instantly, her lips parting willingly under his as she returns the kiss with equal fervor. Her hands wrap around his neck, her fingers tangling into his braids as she clings to him, her body arching into his.
The kiss deepens, their mouths moving together in a frenzied, sloppy dance of desire. Teeth clash and tongues tangle, as they pour all their pent-up frustration and lust into the kiss.
Lewis' hands roam freely across her body, pulling her closer, his touch possessive and urgent. Y/n moans into his mouth, her body responding to his touch, her senses overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment.
After a few moments that feel like an eternity, Y/n manages to pull herself back, breaking the kiss. Her chest is heaving with every labored breath, her body ablaze with desire. Her eyes flutter open, and she gazes at Lewis, her lips swollen and cheeks flushed.
Y/n glances up at Lewis, her expression a little dazed and a little amused. "Damn, you know what? You're a pretty good kisser. I might just have to marry you for that reason alone."
Lewis laughs, his head leaning back against the wall. "Is that all it takes, huh? A good kiss and you're ready to tie the knot?"
Y/n grins, tilting her head to the side. "Hey, I'm just saying, I think you'd make a pretty good husband… as long as you keep kissing me like that."
Lewis chuckles, his hands still resting on her hips, his grip a little looser now. "Is that a threat or a promise?" he teases, a mischievous glint in his eye.
Y/n pretends to think for a moment, her index finger tapping her chin. "A little bit of both, I think," she replies, a cheeky smile on her lips. "I'll expect a ring, but you'll have to keep up with those kisses… among other things."
Lewis laughs, shaking his head in bemusement. "You know what? Sure, why not? Let's do it. I'll marry you. I guess a good kissing record is enough to secure the deal."
Y/n, giggling like a schoolgirl, grabs Lewis's hand and pulls him out of the club. The cool night air hits them, and she shivers slightly, her head still spinning from the alcohol. "Let's go! Let's go get married!"
Tumblr media
Monday, 8:57 AM
Y/n groans as she slowly opens her eyes, blinking against the bright light streaming through the curtains. She lifts her head, her mind fuzzy and disoriented, and takes in her surroundings. She's lying in a hotel room, the unfamiliar surroundings taking a moment to register in her hungover mind.
As her vision clears, she becomes aware of the weight and heat of another body pressed against hers. She turns her head slightly and sees Lewis lying next to her, fast asleep, their hands intertwined between them.
Y/n's eyes widen as she glances down at her hand, her heart skipping a beat at the sight of the ring on her finger. Her head is still fuzzy from the alcohol and her memories of the previous night are hazy, but the ring on her finger is undeniable.
She tries to pull her hand away from Lewis's grasp, but his fingers remain tightly interlaced with hers, even in his sleep. The realization of what happened slowly starts to sink in, and Y/n looks from her hand to Lewis's sleeping face, her mind buzzing with confusion and disbelief.
The room is silent, apart from the steady sound of Lewis's breathing. Y/n lies still, her heart pounding as her mind races, trying to make sense of the situation. She glances at the ring again, her stomach churning with a mixture of shock, disbelief, and a hint of excitement.
She's married. She's actually married. To Lewis. The thought is both terrifying and exhilarating, and Y/n isn't sure if it's the alcohol still lingering in her system or the sheer absurdity of the situation that's making her feel so lightheaded.
She lies there for a few more moments, her hand still trapped in Lewis's grip, her mind swirling with a million thoughts and questions. What did she get herself into? How did this happen? And most importantly, how is she going to face Lewis when he wakes up?
As the minutes tick by, Y/n takes deep breaths, trying to calm her racing heart. She glances at Lewis again, his peaceful expression a stark contrast to the turmoil in her head. She can feel the warm weight of his leg draped over hers, their bodies intertwined in the narrow hotel bed.
A small part of her is scared, unsure of what the future holds now that she's inadvertently married Lewis. But another part of her, the part fueled by alcohol-induced courage and impulsiveness, is curious, excited even, at the possibility of what this unexpected turn of events could mean.
Still, her head is throbbing with a headache, a reminder of the night before and the alcohol they consumed. She tries to piece together the events that led them to this point, but her memories are hazy and fragmented, like pieces of a puzzle that refuse to fit together.
Y/n attempts to wake Lewis up, gently shaking his shoulder and calling his name in a soft, hoarse voice. "Lewis… wake up, Lewis…" she murmurs, her head still aching as she speaks.
Lewis stirs at the sound of her voice, his eyes slowly opening as he blinks against the bright light filtering through the curtains. He looks disoriented for a moment, his gaze bleary as he takes in his surroundings and slowly registers where he is, and more importantly, who he is with.
As his eyes focus on Y/n's face, a look of realization dawns on his own. He lifts his head, his expression a mixture of surprise and disbelief as he looks down at their intertwined hands. His fingers, still linked with hers, tighten around hers as he processes their current predicament.
"Holy shit," he mutters under his breath, his voice hoarse and dry from sleep. "Did we…?" He trails off, his gaze shifting from their hands to her face, his eyes searching hers for an answer.
Y/n nods slowly, her heart hammering in her chest as she meets his gaze. The reality of their situation is crashing down on her now, and she can feel the heat rising in her cheeks as she responds. "Yeah… I think we did, Lewis. We…" she swallows hard, the words stuck in her throat. "…I think we got married."
Lewis's eyes widen further, his surprise mirrored in his expression. He sits up slowly, still holding her hand in his. "We got married," he repeats, his tone disbelieving. He runs his free hand through his bed-rumpled hair, a look of disbelief and confusion on his face. "How the hell did that happen?"
Y/n shakes her head, her own disbelief just as evident. "I don't know. I can barely remember last night. We were at the club, and we were both drunk and…" her voice trails off as the memories of the previous night continue to elude her.
Lewis lets out a deep sigh, his hand still firmly holding hers. "Yeah, same here. It's all a blur to me too. I remember having a few drinks, and then…" He pauses, shaking his head in disbelief. "This is insane. We got married. Like, actually married."
Y/n nods again, her eyes still on their intertwined hands. "I know. It's unbelievable. We were just… having fun, you know? Having drinks, dancing, joking around. And now…" she trails off again, her mind struggling to process the situation.
Y/n lets out a slew of profanities under her breath, her frustration and disbelief spilling out in a rush of colorful words. "This is unbelievable. I can't believe we actually got married. Of all the stupid things we could have done, we tied the knot. What were we thinking?"
Her head is still throbbing with a killer hangover headache, and the reality of their situation is hitting her like a freight train. She glances over at Lewis, who is still sitting up next to her, looking just as shocked and bewildered as she feels.
Part of her wants to pinch herself to see if it's all real, but the presence of the ring on her finger and the warm weight of Lewis's hand holding hers confirms that it is indeed no dream.
Y/n's eyes widen as she looks at the documents on the table. They're official documents, a marriage certificate bearing both her name and Lewis's. Her heart skips a beat as the reality of the situation hits her like a ton of bricks. This is really happening. They're really, legally married.
The weight of this realization makes her feel dizzy, and she has to steady herself against the table, her hand clenching the edge of it. Her mind is spinning, the headache and the alcohol from the previous night not helping her process this new level of insanity.
Lewis stands up next to her, his movements slow and slightly groggy as he takes the documents from her. He glances through them, his eyes skimming the words and official stamps, the reality of their situation sinking in with each line he reads.
Lewis puts the papers back down on the table, his expression still laced with a mixture of surprise and disbelief. He turns towards Y/n, his expression serious now. "I think we need to talk about this. We can't just ignore the fact that we're apparently married now."
Y/n nods, her own expression solemn. She's still struggling to wrap her mind around the situation, but she knows he's right. They can't just pretend it never happened, not when there's a signed marriage certificate sitting right there.
She takes a deep breath, trying to steady her thoughts. "You're right. We need to talk about this. But I don't even know where to start."
Lewis lets out a deep sigh, running a hand through his hair again. "Neither do I," he admits. "But I guess we start with the obvious questions. Like, how the hell did we even end up getting married in the first place?"
Y/n shakes her head, her confusion mirrored on her face. "I have no idea. I remember us drinking, and dancing, and… well, not much else. It's all pretty blurry after a certain point."
Lewis nods, his expression thoughtful. "Same here. I remember having drinks, and things being fun and light-hearted, and then the next thing I know, we're waking up here, married. It's like a gap in my memory or something."
As the two of them continue to discuss their predicament, out of nowhere, a fragment of Y/n's memory resurfaces, a flash of her father's words from a few days ago. Her face twists with a mix of surprise and frustration as the recollection comes to her.
The memory of her father's words comes rushing back to her now, a sudden realization dawning on her face. The strange, cryptic instructions he'd given her a few days ago about being married come back to her, and now they make a terrible, twisted sort of sense in the context of her current situation.
She looks at Lewis, her eyes suddenly wide with shock and realization. "Oh my god… my dad," she mutters under her breath. The memory of her father telling her she needed to be married for the family business suddenly has a new, and very unnerving, meaning.
Lewis looks at her, confusion and concern on his face. "Your dad? What about him?" he asks, his voice filled with a sense of dread at her sudden outburst.
Y/n explains the situation to Lewis, revealing the deal she had made with her father regarding the inheritance and the family business. She also suggests that they stay married for a little while, just long enough for her to inherit, and then they could get a divorce.
Lewis looks stunned by her revelation and her proposal, his eyes widening as he absorbs the information. "So you're saying we only have to stay married until you inherit? Then we divorce?" he asks, his tone laced with disbelief.
Y/n nods, her expression earnest. "Yes, that's what I'm proposing. We stay married for a while, for the sake of the deal with my father, and then we get a divorce as soon as I inherit. It will be a temporary arrangement, nothing more."
Lewis looks at her, his expression still a mix of disbelief and contemplation. "Married for a while, then divorce," he says slowly, tasting the words on his tongue as he mulls over the idea.
He runs a hand through his hair again, his eyes locked with hers. "It's a lot to take in," he says finally. "Like, we're talking about getting divorced already, and we've only been married for…" He checks the date on the marriage certificate, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. "…for less than 24 hours, apparently."
He lets out a dry laugh, rubbing his face with one hand. "This is insane," he mutters. "Married. And already planning a divorce."
He looks back at Y/n, his expression a mix of uncertainty and a touch of humor. "You know, most couples don't start planning their divorce on their first day of marriage," he jokes.
Y/n manages a weak smile in response, the joke lifting the tension a bit. "Yeah, I know," she concedes. "But most couples don't get married in a drunken haze after partying all night either."
Y/n nods and extends her hand for a handshake. "Alright, it's a deal," she says. "We stay married until I inherit, and then we get a divorce. Agreed?"
Lewis looks down at her offered hand, a resigned acceptance in his eyes. He nods and takes her hand firmly, giving it a firm shake. "Agreed," he says. "Temporary spouses, here we go."
Lewis' expression suddenly shifts as he realizes the implications of their agreement. "Oh, fuck," he mutters, his eyes widening. "My PR team is going to have a field day with this."
He looks at her, his expression still one of disbelief at the situation. "My PR team," he clarifies. "You know, the people who manage my public image. They're going to have a lot to handle with this unexpected… development. It's not every day your client gets married out of the blue after a night of heavy drinking."
Y/n looks at him, a realization beginning to dawn on her. "Wait a second," she says, her eyes narrowed in thought. "You have a PR team," she repeats, her voice laced with disbelief. "Why on earth would you need a PR team… unless you're some kind of celebrity or something?"
Lewis laughs, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "Yeah, uh, about that," he says, scratching the back of his head. "I guess I kind of forgot to mention that part. I'm, um, a professional Formula 1 racer, actually."
Y/n's jaw drops at his revelation. "Formula 1?" she echoes, her surprise evident. "You're a professional racer? And you didn't think to mention that before?"
Lewis grimaces slightly, looking a bit sheepish. "Yeah, sorry about that. It slipped my mind last night, with all the drinking and… well, the whole getting married thing. I didn't think it would come up quite like this, to be honest."
Her expression remains one of disbelief, but there's also a hint of intrigue. "Formula 1," she repeats, her mind now processing this new piece of information. "So you race high-speed cars for a living."
Lewis nods, his face now showing a hint of pride. "That's right," he confirms. "I race for Mercedes- Ferrari soon enough. It's a pretty public profession, hence the PR team."
Y/n takes a moment to process this new revelation. "Okay, so you're a professional racer, with a whole team dedicated to managing your image and public relations. And we… got married last night, without knowing any of that about each other."
Lewis nods, a rueful smile on his face. "Exactly," he concurs. "We had absolutely no idea who each other was, got drunk, got married, and now I have to deal with the fallout with my PR team."
Y/n can't help but find the situation a little insane, but she can also see the humor in it. "Well, this is certainly, uh, interesting," she says finally, her voice almost a laugh. "I can only imagine the look on your PR team's faces when you tell them about this."
Lewis lets out a dry laugh, hiding his face in between his hands. "Yeah, I am not looking forward to that conversation," he confesses. "But I guess it's part of the package when you're a public figure. Nothing stays private, even if you don't want it to."
Y/n's expression softens a bit as she looks at him, seeing the tension in his face. As much as this situation is affecting her, she can't imagine the added layer of scrutiny he has to deal with due to his job. "You really have to consider everything when you're in the public eye, huh?" she comments, her tone a touch sympathetic.
She puts a hand on her forehead, the lingering effects of the hangover headache making her wince. "You know what," she says, "we should probably get some aspirin or something. I can't stand this headache much longer."
Lewis nods in agreement, his hand still massaging his temples. "Yeah, you read my mind," he says. "I don't know about you, but I can't think straight with this headache pounding in my skull."
Y/n gets up from her seat, her movements a bit unsteady as she stands up to look for her bag. "I think I have some Advil in my bag," she says. "I always keep some handy for hangovers like this."
Lewis watches as she rummages through her bag, trying to focus despite the persistent headache. "You're always prepared, aren't you?" he teases, his tone a mix of light humor and genuine admiration.
Y/n flashes him a small smile over her shoulder. "I try," she replies, her hand pulling out a small bottle of pain reliever. "I've learned the hard way that hangovers are no joke after a night of partying. It pays to be prepared."
Lewis gets out of bed as well, wincing slightly at the sudden movement. "I wish I had your foresight," he says sheepishly, a rueful chuckle escaping him. "I seem to forget about the aftermath until it's too late."
Y/n shakes a couple of pills out into her palm, handing him a couple of them along with a bottle of water. "Learn from this experience, then," she suggests with a smirk. "Maybe next time you'll remember the consequences before you drink the night away."
Lewis accepts the pills from Y/n, his expression is still sheepish but his tone still holds some humor. "Yeah, maybe next time I won't find myself accidentally married," he quips, dryly. "Lesson learned."
Y/n can't help but chuckle at his attempt at humor, appreciating his ability to see the lighter side even in such a bizarre situation. "I'm sure we both learned a lot last night," she remarks, her tone lighthearted. "Mostly about the dangers of too much alcohol, I think."
Lewis downs the pills, washing them down with a long gulp of water. He hands the bottle back to her, his expression now a bit more sober and serious. "Yeah, it's definitely a lesson in moderation, among other things," he concurs. "And… communication, it seems."
Y/n takes the bottle back, her eyes meeting his. She understands his meaning - that maybe they should have been more open and communicative with each other before getting into this mess. "You're right," she agrees. "We definitely could have avoided a lot if we'd just… talked first, before…" she trails off, gesturing toward the marriage certificate on the table.
Y/n holds up a hand, signaling that she needs to excuse herself. "I'm going to use the bathroom real quick," she says, her voice a bit quieter now. "Then we can…" She trails off, leaving the sentence hanging, implying they can continue their conversation once she returns.
Lewis nods in understanding, his eyes following her as she leaves the room. Once she's out of earshot, he lets out a long sigh and sits back down on the edge of the bed, rubbing his temples again. "This is a lot to process," he mutters to himself, his mind swirling with the events of the previous night.
Tumblr media
Y/n closes the bathroom door behind her and takes a moment to breathe, trying to gather her thoughts. She leans against the sink, her hands gripping the edges, as she looks at her reflection in the mirror. Her hair is disheveled, her eyes still slightly bloodshot from the effects of the previous night's indulgence.
She splashes some cold water on her face, trying to clear her head and shake off the last remnants of the hangover. As she blots her face with a towel, her mind drifts back to the conversation she just had with Lewis, and the magnitude of the situation they now find themselves in settles heavily on her shoulders.
Y/n leans against the wall near the sink, her mind going over their agreement. Stay married temporarily until she inherits, and then divorce. It all sounds so simple, so logical when put like that. But she couldn't shake the feeling that there's more to it, that they're getting into something bigger than they're prepared for.
She looks at herself in the mirror again, her eyes betraying the turmoil inside her. On one hand, she knows they have to go through with this, for the sake of her inheritance and the future of her family's business. But on the other hand, she can't ignore the twinge of guilt and doubt that comes with the decision to play house with almost a stranger.
Her mind is a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, a jumble of pragmatism and uncertainty. She takes a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. There will be time to deal with the emotional aspects later, she tells herself. For now, they have to focus on the practicality of the situation, on navigating this new reality of being married, even if it's only temporary.

Trophy Husband - A Snippet
Hyunjin x Reader (fem.) Genre: Arrange Marriage au!, Marriage of Convenience-ish, Romance, Frenemies-to-Lovers, NSFW, Angst ── MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Two individuals with polar opposite lifestyles are thrown into an arranged marriage for the benefit of both their families, or so they claim. One is a frivolous playboy, living off familial wealth, while the other is an overly controlling workaholic. They navigate their marriage with a business-like approach, marked by a whirlwind of bickering, banter, and societal pressures. Amid misunderstandings, they uncover layers of unexpected qualities, eventually discovering a sweet love neither saw coming.
A SNIPPET ──────────────────── Y/N rolled her eyes and let out a sarcastic laugh.
   “You think I want to marry you? Ha! Don’t be fooled, you’re nothing but your pretty face.” She stated, arms crossing over her chest.
Hyunjin’s smile faltered at her harsh but truthful words. He leaned back, squinting at her upset expression before finally letting out an exasperated sigh. His head dropped for a second before looking at her.
   “Look, we’re both in the same boat. It’s tiring trying to argue about it. We just have to get along, that’s all.” He answered nonchalantly, as if his father hadn’t threatened him only two days ago.
The headache Y/N was getting from conversing with him was inexplicable. Running a frustrated hand through her hair, she took a deep breath.
   “I don’t want to be in the same boat as you. From which angle do the two of us look like a good match?” There was a bitterness enlaced in her tone.
His fingers tapped on the table, suddenly sitting up and leaning closer.
   “And exactly what makes you a catch? What makes you so high and mighty?” He asks, tired of the insults she kept throwing at him.
Her mouth fell agape for a brief second, stunned by his directness and the shift in tone.
   “Hey, Hwang Hyunjin, you idiot. My father’s ready to sacrifice 9 years of my hard work just for you.” Y/N exclaimed, incredulous.
He glared at her, biting the inside of his cheek.
   “You're not the only one being threatened. Would you have been happier if it was my brother sitting here instead?” He asked, studying her angry expression.
His gaze had narrowed into a slight frown as he asked. But she only rolled her eyes. Clearly disgusted by even that idea.
   “I dislike both of you. If I had a choice, I’d rather stay single forever. Besides, what did your father threaten to take away from you—no, what do you even have to protect?” Her blunt words stung, further aggravating the usually cheerful, usually patient man.
   “Listen to me straight, speak to my father. Tell him you’re against this marriage—”
   “Nope.” His abrupt refusal cut her off.
   “I’m gonna marry you. I’m gonna make sure you become my wife.”
His gaze was no longer playful, instead replaced with an anger and darkness she had never seen in them. ─────────────────────── coming soon. ── ask to be tagged!

Everything pt3
PJO Show Ares x Child!Reader (no gender specified)
Word count: 6999 (I made a few word changes at the last minute so this is inaccurate. Rip)
Summary: Everything pt1 and 2 from Ares perspective
Warnings: Sad shit. Ares threatening to murder Athena’s owl so animal cruelty? OOC Ares but this is not y'all first rodeo. Possible OOC Athena but who isn’t a little shit to their sibling? (The way that most of the gifs of him on here are him beating on Percy-)
Tumblr media
You wanna know how to keep your sanity somewhat intact as a god?
Don't worry about your children.
Gods are immortal. Their children? Not so much. If the gods watched over all their kids and were as involved as people wanted them to be, that meant everytime one of them died, they'd be torn up. Gods had too many kids. The grief would never end.
That's how Ares saw it at least. Plus, that's how Zeus had it. You couldn't be too involved, and Ares didn't complain. Hating your kids was so much easier than openly loving them. Sure, he would watch his kids from a distance sometimes but there were gods like Hermes who thought about his kids every single day. One specific child tore him up from the inside. If anyone ever mentioned Luke Castellan, his face would go all solemn and he'd make some excuse to leave.
That's what happened when you cared about one child. Imagine how it would be if the gods cared about all their kids this way. Endless torment.
The brain was a funny thing though. You could try not to think about something, and it'd pop in your head anyway. Sometimes, you just did things because your brain was used to it. Like a morning routine. You don't think about everything you're doing when you're getting ready for the day, you just do it because that's what your brain is used to. Sometimes you'd look somewhere and be flooded with emotions linked to certain memories. The brain was very interesting.
Ares didn't mean to stumble upon one of his kids. It just happened. Went back to that brain thing. Ares only meant to have a nice late night drive in the rain, no real destination in mind. That was his mistake. If he had a destination in mind, he wouldn't have been on autopilot and drove down a street that was linked with multiple emotions and memories.
Memories of a woman he shared laughs with. Memories of a woman he'd hold hands with and take on various bike rides and walks. Memories of a woman he called beautiful and loving on multiple occasions. Memories of a woman that had one of his children and looked as happy as could be when she held them.
There were other memories though.
Memories of a woman he watched turn bitter and cold towards him. He was gone too often and they both knew she wouldn't be the last person he was with. There were memories of them fighting, of her telling him that he left her with a curse she couldn't get rid of. And Ares watched from afar as all the anger she had towards him was targeted at his child because they were within reach.
He gritted his teeth as he thought about it, and he was planning on turning around, but he decided not to when he saw the figure sitting on the ground. He didn't have to be close to know it was you. You sat outside a lot, and he assumed it was because your house was too loud at times. Plus, you had a specific hoodie you got as a gift in middle school and you kept it ever since. Pros of getting a gift way too big for you.
His mind screamed at him. “Do not go any closer! Just mind your business and turn around! Now!”
He didn't stop his bike as he was thinking, and the view of you and what he assumed was gonna be your poor excuse of an offering came closer and closer into view. A fruit roll up? He probably would've ignored you if he wasn't so close.
“Tough night” he said once he was in front of you. Your confusion was clear. You hadn't technically made an offering, so you weren't expecting him to appear. “You were going to”.
You asked why he was here and he responded a little more sarcastic than he meant to, but oh well. Wouldn't matter. He'd take you back to camp, forget this conversation, then that'd be it.
“Why don't you like me?”
The question caught him off guard. It was sudden and came out of nowhere. He hasn't told you or any of his kids he didn't like them, so where the hell did you hear that?
Then you explained, and the conversation kept getting more heated.
Anyone would expect for him to love arguments and usually, he did. This one though, he didn't. The more points you kept bringing up, the more he'd try to deflect and move on, and then you'd bring up even more points. You didn't accept him saying he didn't have to explain anything to you, and he hated it. Any other kid wouldn't dare talk to their parent this way, so why did he have to get the difficult one?
You made another good point about how his eyes shouldn't wander when he has Aphrodite and that calm facade slipped for a moment. Not because he didn't want you speaking about her, but because you were right and he had no actual answers for you. He should be satisfied with Aphrodite, and he was. But he was also a god and sleeping with mortals was part of the gig. They never really thought about what happened after. They weren't supposed to.
“I didn't choose to be abandoned by my father and be stuck with a dysfunctional family for the rest of my life. You should be angry at that, not me mentioning Aphrodite. You should be enraged at the thought of anyone putting their hands on me and your hands should be covered in their blood! That is how it should be”.
“Believe it or not, the gods aren't too keen on the idea of killing mortals”
But he wanted to. You had no idea how hard it was to watch one of your children be stuck in a situation you wanted to save them from but couldn't.
Couldn't.
Ares hated that word. As a god, he should've been allowed to do whatever he wanted. “Couldn't” shouldn’t be in his vocabulary, but rules put it there. You had no idea about all he had done to keep those types of men away from you. Did you honestly believe he “broke his wrist at work”? He worked at a fast food place. What were the chances?
He tried. The guy was just persistent. When he eventually gave up, your mom married another guy like him, just in a different font and had kids almost immediately with him. Like the last guy, this one was also persistent. There was only so much Ares could get away with before it'd cause a bigger problem, but he tried to make your life better from afar.
He wanted to beat himself over the head. Why was he so frustrated with himself? The whole point of telling yourself and others that you hated kids, including your own, is that eventually you'd believe it. It was supposed to stay that way. He should've just said “I tried. Get over it”. Why did he wanna try harder? Why did he have this weird ache? Why did the rain suddenly hit him harder and the air smell so bitter?
“None of us asked for this. You all just decide to create and leave us. And you hating the people you created is… I don't know. And it's so stupid that I've spent years of my life trying to get you to be proud of me, only for it to be impossible!”.
That wasn't true at all. Him not being proud of you? He wasn't supposed to have a favorite, but in the back of his mind he knew his favorite was you. He didn't give gifts to just any of his kids, it was for a reason. It was a small hint that he was watching and liked what he saw. He watched how you carried yourself in battle. You didn't just run in angrily, no. You understood battle. You understood your opponent. You actually looked into wars and you and a few of his other children would try to spot where his influence was. He'd be pretty stupid not to have you as a favorite.
But you couldn't hear that. If he said any of that out loud, that'd make it real. If he said all of that out loud, his facade would crack and that's something he couldn't let happen. So he defended himself instead. “I claimed you didn't I?”.
He didn't expect what happened next.
Firstly, he didn't expect that you'd start to actually yell at him. Only fools who didn't care about their lives did that. Secondly, he didn't expect that ache he felt to get worse with every little thing you said. Especially the last part.
“... If you asked me to extinguish the sun, I'd find a way to because to me… to me you were everything. You are everything”.
The facade slipped from his face for a second. How couldn't it? You looked so beaten down and broken, and not because you were in a fight. He would've preferred that. If you had just finished a quest and you looked badly beaten with bruises everywhere, he would've felt better than he did now. At least then he wouldn't feel so guilty. Guilt was another feeling he hated. It meant he did something or made a mistake and he had a reason to feel guilty. Feeling guilty meant he cared enough about you and regretted what he done. It meant the lies he told himself for years weren't satisfying him anymore. It meant he had a problem.
He tried to tune out the rest of the interaction. He heard your comment about being a burden, and your crying, then your realization that you had yelled at a god, and your comment about him cursing you, but he tried not to focus on any of it. All he did was throw a pouch of drachmas on your lap and watch you suspiciously open it. If you didn't want a ride from him back to camp, you could at least call for another. He could've just tossed you one, but you didn't have any on you. He figured you needed it more than him.
“You're leaving?” You asked.
“I have a busy schedule”. It wasn't necessarily a lie. He had a particular house call he had to make, so technically he had something on his schedule. Besides that though, he knew he had to leave.
The thing about being away from your kids, is that it makes hating them easier. As twisted as it sounds, they're not there to defend themselves. It's easier to put walls up when there's not someone in front of you knocking them down over and over again.
Then you did another thing that weirdly hurt. You didn't call him dad.
What was wrong with him? Must've been just an off day. That's all it was, right?
“Yeah” he accidentally replied to himself out loud before he sped off.
Just an off day.
~
You wanna know another way to keep your sanity intact as a god?
Don't have an off day.
Why? Because being around gods is like being around elementary school bullies. The gods still hadn't let Ares live down that day when him and Aphrodite got trapped by Hephaestus. Almost every single meeting they'd had, someone made a sly joke. Do you know how annoying it is to hear “I heard you're good at… NETworking” multiple times a year? You'd help Kronos escape too!
Gods notice when you have off days. They also dabble in business that had nothing to do with them.
When Ares noticed he was missing offerings from a particular child, he must've seemed off. You know who smelled it on him? Athena.
Ms “look at my owl! I'm so smart! Dad loves me more! Hahahaha I'm just so much better at war!”. Couldn't Kronos strangle her first?
“Ares, brother of mine, you seem so distracted”. Shielding her nosiness as concern. Of course.
“I was taking in the view until you ruined it”. She smiled, but it wasn't a smile of joy. It wasn't a smile of bitterness and anger either. It was the kind of smile someone gave you before they dealt a crushing blow. Sinister almost.
But sure, she was totally the better and nicer god. Yeah, ok.
“Olympus certainly is beautiful. I'm surprised a brute can comprehend something as ‘beautiful’ and 'take in a view’ ”.
He couldn't help but think to himself “this is the person people prefer?”. At least he was openly mean. Athena was like one of those mean girl characters in movies Aphrodite made him watch. Real snarky but hid it well.
“You can't turn me into a spider, so I'll just say it; you're a real bitch and one day I'm gonna kill that disgusting owl of yours”
“You'll do no such thing!”. Threatening an owl made her angry? But if he called her pathetic then it's “Ares be nice to your sister!”.
“Anger over an owl? You're pathetic-”
“Ares!” Hermes seemed to shout from out of nowhere “be nice to Athena!”
See?
He couldn't even throw something at Hermes because he was there one second and gone the next.
Athena chuckled. “The smell up here is heavenly too. I can smell the offerings my children give me so well up here-”
“What do you want?” he asked, tired of this game already. “Get to it and make it fast. I don't like you”.
“Hmm, you know who does like me? A particular child of yours”. She didn't need to say your name for him to know who she meant, but she did it anyway.
“I don't care” he lied. It should've been the truth, but the memories of your last talk coming back and the fact that you chose her out of all the gods to switch over to pissed him off more than he liked to admit. “I have other kids”.
“But each child is special, aren't they? There's only one of them”.
“I don't care about any of them”.
“Then you shouldn't care about what I'm about to say next; it's not just me. I asked around and I guess your child prefers others. Such a sad time. Speaking of other gods, did you know Poseidon got an offering from them recently? Poseidon, father of the child that beat you in combat, well they'll be watching over that child that beat you in combat. Maybe they'll even visit that beach where-”
“It was one time and his dad helped him!”
“Whatever you say”. Ares had to remind himself that destroying another god wouldn't look good for him. That owl though? He was gonna poke a hole through it.
“I couldn't imagine any of my children doing that. Must put a lot on your mind” she patted his shoulder then walked away.
You gave offerings that belonged to him, to other gods. Worse of all, Athena. Then you decided to watch over Percy Jackson of all people? Really proved you were his. You knew how to hit people and make them feel it. It was just unfortunate it was happening to him.
He didn't care. That's what he told himself. He was just being nosey. Hermes did it all the time, why couldn't he?
He didn't think about your last conversation and ever since then he'd been watching over his kids more.
He didn't care about one child not giving him his offerings.
He wasn't seeing what the hell was going on being he cared. Absolutely not. He was just bored and nosey. That's all it was.
~~
Ok so Ares had made a little oopsie.
After your talk, Ares made a little house call and things got out of hand and some hospital visits had to be made. Whoops?
Because of that, your mom and step dad needed no convincing when you asked for legal documents so Sally could take you in.
Well fuck. There went that obstacle.
And because he absolutely did not care and was only a bit nosey… he kept watching over you.
He kept debating with himself. On one hand, he shouldn't have cared. Sure, he was missing offerings from one person but it was only one person. On the other hand, the fact that you kept making offerings to Poseidon, and he even gave you a gift, rubbed him the wrong way. Offerings, gifts, staying with that mortal woman and his son, going to school near each other, it's like you were changing families. Not only did that damage his pride as a god, but it also twisted a knife inside him that he didn't know how to get out.
One day though, Ares got tired of it. He was a god and if he wanted you to cut this shit out, then he'd just force you to. All these emotions were making him weaker than he was, and he was tired of it. You weren't Poseidon's child, you were his. Simple as that. You just needed a reminder.
Slight problem. You and that Jackson boy were idiots.
For reasons unknown to him, neither of you thought “hey, wouldn't two demigods attract a lot of monsters?”. So a big chunk of the time he was watching over you, he was killing monsters. You may have thought you were killing lots of monsters when you snuck over to Jackson's school, but he did a lot more work than you. Behind the schools, outside the apartment building, in between alleyways, everywhere. If he was anyone else, he wouldn't have been having as much fun as he was having.
Fun had a limit though. He'd think about Poseidon and Percy and your last talk and that “fun” would become “annoyance”. Right now, the annoyance was higher than the fun bar.
He was approaching the mall you worked at, and let out a deep sigh when he got closer. He was sure to mortals, it looked like a group of women were standing around and talking about whatever older women talked about. To him though, and anyone else that could see through the mist, the view was more sinister.
Harpies. Not just one. Not two. Not even three. He didn't count them individually, but if he had to guess, there were at least ten. At least.
Ten harpies. One demigod.
One demigod that happened to be his child.
All of that equaled one very pissed off god.
The battle was short. The smart harpies flew away when they smelled him. The stupid ones were ripped limb from limb, beheaded and had holes put in them.
Afterwards, he had a pep in his step. If there were at least ten outside, he could only imagine some made their way inside.
By the time he found you, you had just stabbed your sword through a harpy’s throat. You pulled it out just as another harpy flew in the air.
“MY SISTER!”, it shrieked. You looked up at it, no sense of fear in your body language.
“You want more from the Child of Ares?! I have plenty to give!”. A sense of pride shot through him.
You wouldn't get it unless you were him. He was the god of war for fucks sake, so not only was he watching a child of his in battle, but that same child used his name as a battle call. Sure, armies used to all the time, but it felt different when it was your kid. Once again, you wouldn't understand unless you were him.
Unfortunately though, the fight was cut short. The harpy saw him and stopped, “L-L-Lord Ares. I-”. He didn't waste any time. He grabbed you and threw you at it, and watched as your sword lodged into the harpy and the wall.
“What are you doing here?” You asked.
“Saving your life”.
Your face turned sour and he couldn't help but chuckle. Maybe you didn't know, but you looked the farthest from pleased. If he had to guess, you were probably thinking something like “I had everything 100% under control”. His children tended to have prides as big as Olympus itself.
“Are you gonna catch me?” You asked.
 “What for?”
 “Because you threw me all the way to the fifth floor and it’d be nice not to break something”
 “You need me to warm up milk up for you too?”. Ares made smart ass remarks, and he expected you to make one back. Instead, you firmly planted your feet against the wall and pushed, and like a reflex he moved his arms so he could catch you.
Ares couldn't remember the last time he held you. In all honesty, he wasn't sure he ever held you. He wasn't sure he held any of his kids. He used to. Time was hard to keep track of when you were immortal, but he remembers a time, maybe a hundred years ago, when he used to be present for his kids. Before rules were made and “couldn't” slipped its way into his vocabulary. He used to see his kids all the time. He'd actually keep track, help them on their journey and watch over them. When they died, he'd truly mourn them.
Then rules were in place and now he kept his distance. When they died, did it hurt? Sure. Not as much as it used to though. A pro in a boatload of cons.
When you slipped out of his hands, he noticed a few things. You were a few inches taller, and your hair had grown out. Such small things. Anyone else wouldn't notice, but because of his absence, he always noticed small things like that. He used to think “ok, whatever”. But now, he felt an aura of sadness. You, and the rest of his children, were getting older and he was never really there.
He missed when he was just annoyed or angry when he saw his kids. Anger was way better than sadness.
“I thought you're not allowed to interfere” you said, and he raised a brow. He thought it was real ironic that suddenly you cared for rules as if you hadn't been breaking them.
“Are you gonna tell on me?”
“If you hadn't caught me”
“And now?”
“My lips are sealed”. He wasn't really bothered about you telling. Zeus would get over it, and you only knew about one fight. Not the others.
He could've walked away and left it at that, but he didn't want to. Your words from last time kept ringing in his ears.
“... If you asked me to extinguish the sun, I'd find a way to because to me… to me you were everything. You are everything”.
He didn't know why it bothered him so much. Maybe it was because you were the only child of his that actually voiced how you felt. You made him feel guilty and that small amount of guilt cracked the walls and foundation he worked so hard to build mentally.
Another thought crossed his mind. He didn't want this conversation to stop now. The gods were on borrowed time. Who knew when Zeus would get a bit nosey and he'd be forced to go? He craved what used to be normal hundreds of years ago, and even though it probably wouldn't be that way again, he could pretend for the time being.
“You have money on you?”
“Uh, yeah”
“You're paying for dinner. Let's go”. You owed him offerings anyway.
“I can't” you said after you grabbed his arm.
“Can't?”
“Yeah. I can't. My uh… my ride. Mom. She's coming to get me. You don't want mom knowing you're in town, right?”. Sneaky asshole. If he hadn't been watching, and if you hadn't paused so much, he would've believed you.
He looked you up and down, debating on if he should pop your bubble now.
“Just tax them another burger” he thought and didn't mention he already knew you were staying with Jackson and his mom. Instead, he told you the name of a diner nearby and to be there by noon tomorrow. There was no sneaking your way out of this one.
~~~
Ares wouldn't say he was nervous. It just felt different. Not in a bad way either, which was alarming him. He enjoyed being around one of his kids, even though he was occupied with the Twitter war he started about vaccinations.
You looked at him from across the table with a furrowed brow, and that's when he finally addressed you and told you what he was doing.
He didn't know if you noticed this, but you made a little sound. Like you were beginning to scream but didn't. He looked up at you and you looked laser focused. Were you… were you screaming in your head? Alright. Maybe it was time to put the phone down before you popped a blood vessel.
“You're probably wondering why I've called you here”
You squinted, “I'm wondering why I'm paying”
“Ask me”
“You know I wanna know though so why am I asking?”. He didn't respond. He just stared at you and tapped his foot on the floor loudly. He hoped it annoyed you as much as your smart mouth annoyed him. Maybe this was how parental relationships were supposed to feel though. It'd been so long.
“Ares, the amazing God of War. The Protector of Mistreated Women. Wearer of biker jackets. I come before you as your humble child, begging thee to tell me what required my summons and why you were at the mall last night. Please please please tell me. I'll fall over and die if you don't”. Chiron was doing a terrible job when it came to teaching you manners and if you were anyone else, he would've gotten angry. Instead, he was mildly annoyed.
He motioned towards the platter of burgers and fries, “this is your thank you. This is your offering to me since you haven't been doing that”.
There it was. You visibly tensed now that you were caught.
“You noticed?”
“I did. You demigods think you’re so smart. You have these big egos and think you’re ahead of us. You gave your offerings to Athena and Poseidon of all people” saying it out loud left a bitter taste in his mouth and he got angry again. Poseidon and Athena? Two gods that wouldn't have saved you from that mall incident. Two gods that didn't even try. In all the incidents you've had so far, it's been him trailing behind you and keeping you safe! “And then you stay with that fish boy and his mom. Yeah. I saw that too. And I save your life and you don’t seem the least bit grateful”.
“Yeah dad, I’m super grateful my life consists of monsters trying to eat me and a dad I only see once in a blue moon. Totally grateful”.
“We can’t interfere” he tried to defend his actions again.
“Didn’t stop you last night”
He tsked, “I don’t get you. You complain about my absence then you complain when I’m here when I could be doing anything else!”. Ares kept putting his foot in his mouth. He was so bad at this, it was insane. Ares was never one to coddle his children, but he used to be able to be strict and stern without hurting someone's feelings… majority of the time. Sometimes things are said, but he didn't used to be this bad at it. What he should've done was apologize, but apologizing was never something he was good at. And if he apologized, he'd have to admit he was wrong and promise to do better, and he wasn't sure he could or that he even wanted to.
“Then go do those things. I’m not holding your hand and making you stay! And this isn’t about us and you know it. This is about you. This is about your ego being hurt. You don’t care about my safety. You didn’t go to the mall to protect me. You just love a fight and you were probably disappointed you couldn’t do more”. The scowl you had was so familiar, it was almost creepy. You weren't 100% his twin by any means. You had your own facial features, but dammit, anyone could tell by the scowl alone that you were his. It made that knife he couldn't get out twist a little more.
You were so wrong. Sure, he was at the mall planning to set you straight but he genuinely did care about your safety. You had no idea how many monsters he killed or scared away that were tracking you down, and you had no idea about the other harpies outside the mall. The fact that you thought he didn't care about you at all, hurt him more than he ever wanted to admit.
“That's what you think?” he asked. A tinge of anger in him, but mainly regret and sorrow.
“That's what I know. And I didn’t need your help. I was just fine. The only thing you would’ve missed if I somehow died was your little offerings. I don’t matter to you. Just admit it so we can move on” he wanted to tell you how wrong you were, but you beat him to the punch. “And for your information Percy and Sally are very nice people. They feel more like family than you do”.
The knife kept twisting.
He wanted to share the blame. He wanted to find a way to blame you, or his other kids, or Zeus, but he knew he couldn't. Zeus was a problem. No point in denying that. But Ares could've always tried, and he didn't. He allowed himself to lie to himself over and over again about how he felt about his kids, and now it felt like you were slipping through his fingers and he wasn't strong enough to hold on. He wasn't fast enough to grab you.
It got silent. He didn't know what to say. Ares hardly ever felt powerless, but that's exactly what he felt in this moment. Completely and utterly powerless.
“Have you heard the song American Pie? Yes, it’s somewhat important to what I have to say. Yes or no only please”. He didn't need a mirror to know he looked unamused. What did a random song have to do with anything?
“I don't know. Maybe? Who cares?”.
“There’s a line in the song that says this’ll be the day that I die. And for whatever reason it made me think about what I’d do if I were dying. If I woke up one day and I knew I was gonna die that day, what would I do? You wanna know what I realized?”. He leaned back in his chair. He had no idea where you were going with this but he might as well hear you out. “Shoot”.
“I realized-” your voice wobbled and he did his best to not reveal how much it hurt to hear. “I realized I'd spend every second trying to make you love me”.
The room stilled for him. Everything seemed to pause and he was left in a silent room. Everything was silent, except for his own heartbeat which thumped in his chest in an increasingly slow rhythm.
If Ares was asked to describe how much those words tore him apart, he'd be at a loss for words. It was a feeling you'd only understand if you were a parent, and it was a feeling you'd hope you'd never feel. It was words you hoped you'd never hear. What was worse is that he only had himself to blame. Ares spent years lying to himself about how he felt. It became natural and sometimes he'd lie about things he didn't have to just because lying felt normal. It didn't feel that way anymore. It felt… he didn't know how to describe it. Each lie he's ever told in his life felt like it was being shot back at him at point blank range. He kept feeling various holes being shot in him and he had no idea how to cover them back up.
When you started blinking, which was an obvious attempt to not cry and said “And I uh… I don’t wanna be that way anymore. And selfishly I hope that scares you” that knife kept twisting.
“Gods don't feel fear” he lied. Gods felt fear. They were just better at hiding it.
“Well whatever you wanna call it I hope you feel it. I hope -and I’m gonna keep calling it fear- I hope you feel afraid for what that means for us”. How defeated you looked filled his head with memories he wanted to keep buried. It reminded him of when he found you on that rainy night. It reminded him of when you started leaving cracks on his mental fortress.
 “Allow me to humor you for a bit” all the sarcasm and hostility slipped from his voice now. He had a question but he wasn't sure he wanted the answer. “Why would you not wanting to spend your last day with me scare me?”
You gave him an answer and if he could go back, he wouldn't have asked at all.
Ares knew that his kids wanted to bring honor to his name, and as demigods, it was kinda their job. With that being said, he still felt something he hadn't felt in a long time.
Grief.
Grief because your relationship was ending before it actually began. Hearing that you were intrigued by him before, and when you were claimed you read every story with him in it, only for all that excitement to be crushed… he wouldn't even wish this feeling on Athena, and on more days than not, he wanted to strangle her. It's a feeling you only wish on your worst enemies.
“... And I hope the idea of me calling you Ares instead of dad terrifies you…”.
It did. He never thought it would, but it did. Ares made many claims, like gods not dreaming or feeling fear but it was all false. Right now, he had a dream. A dream that this feeling would roll off him and he could go back to being how he was before. His fear was that that wouldn't be possible anymore. You cracked him. You broke his walls down but he was too late to welcome you in. He was too late to welcome any of his kids in.
Everytime he tried to blame Zeus for his stupid rule, or Poseidon for welcoming you in before he did, it never stuck. He could only do so much blaming before he had to wake up and realize he wasn't fully innocent. None of the gods were perfect but some tried a lot harder than others. Why didn't he do that instead of convincing himself he didn't care for his kids?
“... and if you hate me I am begging you to have mercy and leave me be. No visiting. I won’t come to see you when we do that little field trip either. I’ll stay at camp or I’ll go bother another god. Hermes is really nice. And if I break my end of the deal you can do whatever you want to me. Turn me into an ant, rearrange my fingers, throw me down a flight of stairs at full force, whatever”.
He didn't hate you. He understood that a little too late. All of his kids thought the same? He understood why, but fuck. He missed when he was just angry. He missed how he was before he stopped to check on you that night.
“You think, but you don't know anything” he managed to get out. Ares wasn't the type to cry, but his mind was going so fast and it was hard to slow it down. Each word that came out of your mouth twisted a knife inside of him more and more, and the injury was so severe, he could genuinely feel it.
“Then tell me what I don't know”.
Should he? Should he say anything? Should he tell you that he was sorry and he wanted to make things right, for not only you but for all of his children? Should he comfort you? Should he admit he was wrong? Should he go back to having a personal relationship with his children? Should he go back to fully mourning them when they passed?
No.
What good would it do? Would he end up like Hermes? Paralyzed with grief for a son that wasn't even dead yet? Would him changing even mean anything anymore? He tried to be better, then what? He didn't even know how. He'd string his children along, making them believe it'd be better, then he'd be reminded of their impending deaths or the fact that gods couldn't be too close without there being a problem. Then he'd stop. Then his kids would push away harder. Then he'd be Ares, donor to many but father to none.
“Sally's been waiting outside so…”
Wouldn't it be better this way? Let his favorite go and move on? Let the child that tore down his walls go and work on building them back up? Go back to being the Ares people expected?
“Yeah” he answered himself out loud. He let out a breath as he felt another twist inside him. “You want this?” he asked.
“No” you said instantly. That voice wobble again… he was so much happier when people were angry with him. Anger he could take and give out, but he couldn't remember the last time someone was disappointed in him and he couldn't remember the last time he broke someone down without trying.  “No I don’t but this just seems like the best thing to do”. He didn’t argue with you even if he wanted to.
Your hand went to reach inside your pocket for money but then he spoke again “keep it”.
Money was the last thing on his mind.
“It’s no problem-”.
“Just keep it”.
You nodded.
It fell silent for a moment. He could've just left, but he stayed seated. Ares from a couple years ago would probably feel lively and free, but Ares today? He felt like something was crushing him and that was hard to do.
“Can you do me a favor?”
“Another one?” he responded lifelessly. Pretending to be unaffected was exhausting, and he was beginning to feel the effects.
“It's not a favor if you don't wanna see me either”. He didn't respond. He didn't feel like lying anymore. “Can we do that thing mortals do? You know, when they hug and say they love each other before they go their own way? Or maybe just the ‘I love you’ part”.
He stared at you as he debated on what to do. One on hand he knew if he did as you asked, it'd be harder to let you go. On the other hand, a war was brewing and if you fell in battle, he knew he'd have forever to live with the regret of not hugging you.
So he stood up.
You stood up.
It's strange how something Ares hadn't done in years could feel so right. Like this was how it was always meant to be. Like he was always supposed to be the type of father that was so present, that his kids would hug him regularly.
He felt warm. He didn't know how else to describe it. He was just warm. Imagine it's a freezing cold day and you're walking home from school. You walk and walk, trying to ignore how numb your hands feel and the cold nipping at your nose. The cold is terrible, but you remember you left the heat on and that idea alone warms your body and keeps you moving. That's how he felt as he held you.
“I love you dad”. It was natural. He wished he heard it more often.
Go back to the scenario from before.
You get home, so excited about the heat, only to find out the heat is off. Maybe you turned it off and forgot. Maybe someone in your house did. Either way, it was off and the inside of your house is just as bad as outside. The cold feeling seems to get worse now that the warmth of hope is gone. That's how he felt when he said “I love you too”.
He meant it, but that warmth faded when reality hit. This was it. There would be no more talks like this. This was only the second time and your talks never went the best, but he still valued them. Maybe he was wrong to have favorites and maybe he was wrong to feel so hurt when he caused this but he was in agony anyway.
When the two of you pulled away and you left, the knife twisted one final time then cut straight through him. He watched as you left for a moment before he looked away and sat back down, the emptiness becoming loud.
You wanna know how to keep your sanity intact as a god?
Don't care about your children.
Don't care about anything.
Stay detached. Stay far away. Stay to yourself and a few other gods you can tolerate. Don't think about your children. Put your walls up and don't ever let them down.
Stay angry. Don't feel sorrow or sadness. You'll live forever and the chances of that grief getting better are slim. Stay angry because at least you'll look intimidating instead of weak. Let people make their assumptions.
Just. Don’t. Care.
But as Ares looked to the side, towards an empty booth with a window that perfectly showed you sobbing in Jackson's car, and your seemingly new family being there for you… he wasn't sure he could do that anymore.
Y’all I swear they will have a happy ending… just not right now. But before y’all beat my ass, y’all knew damn well this part had no chance of being happy. The happiness is coming! I swear! I think I got everyone on the taglist.
Coconut Pudding.
Tumblr media
Hitoshi Shinsou x Reader slight E2L >:))))))
A/N: Not proofread. I apologise for any incoherent sentences/ incorrect grammar. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did :)
☁︎ Reader and Shinsou meeting through Aizawa. Aizawa offering reader extra training. ☁︎
Tumblr media
Shinsou always rubbed you the wrong way- the both of you snarkily taunting the other every breathing moment you were in each other's presence. It was almost like one of you would bite off the other's head the next instant. Aizawa and Yamada were low-key scared you guys would kill each other one day.
Hitoshi Shinsou. That name was enough to have anger surging through your veins. Everything about him ticked you off- his sarcastic remarks, his cold expression, his stupidity. Each sparring session was tense, Shinsou desperate to prove himself to Eraserhead and get into 1A and you fighting to prove yourself, to prove you deserved your spot in 1A. You and Shinsou got to know each other better whether you liked it or not- you were spending most of your free time with him.
The closer you got, the more time you spent in his presence, the more obvious it was- his bitter and cold demeanour was just an exterior. He was a small fluffy hamster at heart. The distance between you and him that felt like oceans between shores closed before you realised it. Closed by lingering touches and lingering gazes during training. Closed by the softness that seeped into the other's gaze when thinking of the next time you'd meet. In conclusion, He made your heart pound and your cheeks heat up.
Just why?
You asked yourself. Shinsou would be a bitter gourd if someone like you was pudding. You poked your tongue out at the thought, slinging your bag over your shoulder as you walked out the diner all alone. There was a chill in the breeze that made people walk faster than usual, wanting to get back to the warmth of their own homes. Couples were walking hand in hand and kids clung to their parents as the buzz of chatter emptied into silence as they walked past.
You thought about how nice it would be if Shinsou was nicer to you for once. How nice it would be if you could spend time alone with him, How nice it would be if he harboured the same feelings as you did for him, How nice it would be if he liked you- How nice it would be if his love was like Coconut Pudding- sweet. Not overly so. Just right. The kind that makes you melt. The kind that feels refreshing. Oh, how you wished he were with you at this very moment.
☀︎
You tucked your hair behind your ear [sorry to bald readers/ readers without ears] while standing up to leave. The school bell rang five minutes ago, the last of your classmates already gone- eager to get home after the hell of what they called a curriculum UA put them through. Sighing, you started packing your bag. You were late for training. Even thinking about how exhausting training would be was enough to bring tears to your eyes. Looking down at the last few books you needed to stuff into your bag, you thought of Shinsou.
You thought about how you could feel the waves of heat coming off him when he stood closer to you as he helped you with algebra. You thought about how his uniform smelled when it was freshly washed. You thought of how the bruised, red knuckles on his hands looked as he grabbed your hands to lead the way when you were being too slow. You thought of the soft monsoon breeze that slightly ruffled his hair, How his purple eyes looked when he was surprised- like when Sensei kicked him in the stomach which led him to be winded and on his knees hunched over for the next ten minutes.
Sharp snaps brought you back from your melancholic state. Annoyed, you looked at the source of the disturbance. "Earth to Y/N." Shinsou said, now snapping his fingers in your face. Swatting his hand away, you rolled your eyes.
"Piss off." You groaned. "You look like Uraraka's quirk sent you floating all the way to Jupiter. Whatcha thinkin' about?" Shinsou said, now leaning on the desk behind him. His arms flexed as he rested his weight on the wood behind him. "None of your business. If you're dying to know, information costs money. I do miss those macarons from the bakery down that street..." Putting a finger on your chin, you pondered exaggeratedly. Shinsou hummed, "You're late to training." "Right." Inhaling sharply, you looked down at your bag, which was still unpacked. "I'm joking, I'm joking. Sensei cancelled training today. Said something about sorting out legal stuff 'bout Eri."
Before you could get another word out, what Shinsou said next had you staring at him like he had not two, not three but twelve heads. "Now what is it with you and your love for exploring space while staring at someone? If you don't fancy the idea, you can just say so." Shinsou stated, his gaze lowering to the floor but his voice as monotonous as ever. You shook your head, wiping that silly lil expression off your face. "Pff, like I'd say no to free macarons." It was Shinsou's turn to ogle at you- "I didn't say I was paying, I asked you if you could give me company at the cafe if you didn't have any plans."
Shaking your head, you put your hands up. "It's a shame, then. I guess I have no choice but to go home," You pouted. Wordlessly picking up your bag and stuffing the remaining books inside, Shinsou pulled the bag from your hands and slung your bag over his shoulder while walking. You smiled at him happily at his compliance and pulled him out the classroom by his elbow.
Ah, if only you hadn't missed the blush on his face as you walked through the door of the classroom.
Bad Relation
Isaac Rhoades x Reader
Your meeting with a client does not go well. Isaac reassures you.
You stepped into the house with a growl.
The frown on your face and the glare in your eyes had Isaac raising his eyebrow in question. He looked at you quizzically, trying to assess what had caused your sour mood as he watched you angrily pull off your coat.
“Welcome home,” he said carefully, the relief of having you back safely overshadowed by concern. It did not take a private eye to see something was wrong. “How was your day?”
“Peachy,” you replied sarcastically, carelessly setting the files on the coffee table and walking into the kitchen. “What do you want for lunch?” You were snappy, annoyance clear in the tone of your voice.
Isaac followed you into the kitchen, stilling your restless rummaging for a pot with a gentle hand on your wrist. You sighed, the anger slowly bleeding out of you as bitter disappointment took its place.
Today had been shit.
“Are you alright?” he asked softly, leaning closer before slowly guiding you to face him.
Your eyes were downcast, hurt so plainly visible in them that it made his heart ache. The sorrow he felt rolling off of you in waves made his blood boil, anger at whatever had dared to cause you this much distress only kept in check by his overwhelming concern and need to make sure you were alright.
“Look at me, please.”
You cleared your throat, shifting away and returning to the pots and pans. “I’m fine,” you said, avoiding his gaze. “There was a— a difficult client, I suppose I could say. It’s fine, I managed it. People are just shit sometimes.”
Isaac took the pot from your hands, setting it aside before turning you to face him again, trapping you between himself and the kitchen counter. You could not hide away from him now.
“What happened?” he asked sternly, disregarding the pang of guilt he felt for pushing you when you so clearly did not want to talk about it. Still, if it was work-related, he needed to know about it.
Isaac looked at you closely, watching your eyes shy away from his gaze, your body hunched to make yourself as small as possible. It felt as if you were ashamed to exist — as if you wanted to disappear. It made his heart hurt.
You sighed, finally looking him in the eyes. “You’re not going to leave this alone, are you?” you asked, defeated. He shook his head, raising a hand to caress your cheek softly. You melted into the touch, sighing again before dully beginning your report of the meeting.
Evidently, the client had been misinformed, because when you showed up to the meeting instead of Isaac, he had laughed in your face. “Aren’t you his little butler?” he had asked, sneering as he snatched the files from the table. “He’s gotten unprofessional if he sends someone like you to fetch confidential documents such as these. What a shame.”
You had given him a tight lip smile in return. It had been a herculean effort to keep from insulting him as you politely explained that you were Isaac’s ‘partner now actually.’ It would be you handling his case, and he would need to share the classified information with you if he wanted it solved.
He had looked at you and scoffed, amusement evident as he cocked his head. “You think I’d share this with just anyone?” he had asked, shaking his head dismissively, “then again, I can’t expect a housekeeper to be particularly smart now, can I? Didn’t Isaac pick you up off the street? I bet you never even set foot inside a university. I mean, look at you” — he had laughed again, gesturing to your seething figure standing in front of his expensive oak desk — “you’re out of place on my floor, and if there’s something I hate, it’s pretenders. Get out, and have Isaac call me. I want someone real to talk business to.”
You finished with a huff, playing with the end of Isaac’s tie to keep your hands busy.
As much as you loathed to admit it, his words had struck a chord. Sometimes you did feel out of place, as if you barely knew what you were doing. Sometimes doubts ate you up from the inside out, gnawing at your confidence and destroying your self-image.
Before the tears in your eyes had a chance to blur your vision, Isaac pulled you against his chest, wrapping his arms around you and squeezing you tightly. “I’m sorry,” he said, thinking up a dozen ways to destroy that man, “sorry that happened to you. I’ll take care of him, I promise.”
“Don’t be rash,” you said, raising your head from his shoulder and giving him a warning look. Isaac only pressed a soft kiss against your forehead in answer. You hummed, tangling your fingers in his hair and kissing him properly. “But thank you,” you murmured.
“I’d do anything for you, Pickle,” Isaac said, smiling affectionately, “besides, you’re one of the smartest people I know. Intelligence is not something that can be measured by an academic degree. Also,” he added, taking your hand and raising it to his lips, “the clothes I got you suit perfectly. You look stunning.”
You chuckled, ducking your head bashfully at the compliments. “You do have immaculate taste,” you said teasingly.
“That’s why I chose you,” he said earnestly. “And you’re not pretending,” he continued, soothingly tracing his fingers up and down your back, “it takes a bit to get used to a new situation, but you fit into this life just fine, believe me.”
His reassurances made warmth spread through your chest, the feeling of being loved unconditionally stealing your breath. “I love you,” you said, trying to express your gratitude by tightening your arms around him.
Isaac sighed contently. “Not as much as I love you.”
“We’re not doing this right now. Tell me, what do you want for lunch?”
You knew this whole thing was wrong, it was a toxic never ending cycle, but still you could never help yourself when it came to her.
You and Yelena were together for three years, three years filled with love and lust and happiness; but then your relationship became hateful, bitter and full of anger, still the lust between the two of you remained the same.
Allegedly, the two of you had broken up 5 months ago. Allegedly, you resented her for the shit she put you through. Allegedly, you didn’t even want to see her face.
Nevertheless, she always found her way back to you, —back to your bed—. The moment her lips made contact with yours, you knew you had lost all sense of reason. How could you restrain yourself when her hips grazed against yours in a slowly almost painful yet divine pace that had you arching your back and curling your toes?
“Fuck,” you breathed out, as her hands thighten the frim grip on your waist.
You always promised yourself it would be the last time, that it was just your body reacting to hers, that you would be strong the next time and would turn her down. It took you a couple more slips to finally understand that you and Yelena were done, that the two of you were through. But you finally came to your senses.
“You do know this is the last time, right?” you said breathless, feeling your quick heartbeat in your eardrums.
You sword to yourself that would be the last time you let yourself give in to her. Just one more night of pleasure, just one more night of kisses and whimperings and moans, and the next day it would be over.
“Yeah, I know,” though her voice was muffled by your cunt you could still make out the sarcastic tone in her voice.
“I mean it, Yel,” you tried to sound serious, and apparently you did because she lifted up her head for her eyes to find yours.
“I know you do,” and she did know. She knew that you meant it, at that specific moment.
But she also knew your statement wouldn’t last long, that you would soon change your mind and her lips would find their way back to your neck, hips, thighs and cunt.
So she allowed you to think it was over, but it will be over once she decided so.
[...]
It’d been a year since you had last seen her, you thought that was it, that the two of you had moved on at last. But maybe you got it all wrong, maybe all the things she made you feel enhanced by being away from her, maybe you forced yourself to forget about her. But there was no point in trying it, for she had made a mark on your heart. Like a tattoo, always under skin even when it gets removed.
But tonight was supposed to be different, you were supposed to have fun, drink and dance with your girl friends. But for some odd reason you couldn't stop thinking about the blonde. You would mess around with some people, but you found yourself thinking that it wasn’t her hands roaming around your body, or her lips leaving kisses and bites all over your neck, it wasn't her scent and it most certainly wasn’t her hoarse voice reaching your ears.
As you and your friends made your way to the bar, you heard your phone ringing. Even before you took a look at the screen you were 100% sure that it was her calling you, who else could it be then?
Your heart picked up its pace as you looked at the ID caller and your suspicions were confirmed. It was at that moment that you realised that you had never blocked or deleted her contact number.
Before you could answer or decline the call, it stopped. You swallowed down the lump that hard formed on your throat, unsure of what would be next. And soon after it stopped you got a text from her, you were about to read it when you noticed that someone was calling out for you.
“I’m sorry, what was that?” you said, quickly putting away your phone, trying to focus on your friend’s words over the loud music.
“We have to use the restroom. Let’s go,” she said, reaching out for your hand, motioning for you to tag along.
“No,” you step back, away from her reach. “I, um,” you felt your phone burning your hand. “I’m going to get some air, okay?” you noticed she wanted to say something against it, so you quickly added: “I’ll be right back, I promise,” you smiled at them, before making your way out of the club before they would follow after you.
Once the cold air of the night filled your lungs you felt like you could finally breathe properly. You looked at her missed call and her text message on your phone screen, it was simple: an address. You knew what that meant, but you weren’t sure of what you should do. As if sensing your doubt, she called you again. The phone kept on ringing in your hand, as you made up your mind.
Seeing her tonight was a bad idea, right? Yes, you might not be really drunk but the alcohol was messing with your brain and you were not thinking straight. Plus, your friends were going to kill you for meeting her.
Seeing her tonight was a bad idea, right? You weren’t just going to throw away the last year and pretend like nothing had happened.
Seeing her would be a bad idea, right? But your mind had other plans as the memories of her soft lips and her rough hands and her raspy voice all came rushing to your brain, and suddenly it was all you could think of.
Seeing her tonight…? Fuck it, it’s fine, was your only thought as you picked up the call.
“Hello, detka.”
The old pet name sent a silver up your spine, still you were yet to form a coherent thought.
“I missed you,” she paused, waiting for you to say something. “Did you miss me?” she tried again. Still, you weren’t answering her, but she knew you were listening carefully to every word. “You know? I’m all alone right now. I wouldn’t mind some company.”
You could sense the undertone she was using, you were no fool to her tactics, even though you would always fall for them. That was the kind of power Yelena had over you, everytime you would do so much as think about her your brain would just shut down and you wouldn’t be able to hear your own thoughts.
“No,” you stated firmly. Shaking your head even though she could not see you.
“Oh, baby. What’s the matter? You want me to pick you up?” you could hear the jiggling of some set of keys. Your heart stopped for a second, was she really that desperate to come and pick you up? You felt your stomach burning.
“This is… This is not right, Yelena. I shouldn't have picked up the call. I should probably not—.”
“Oh, come on, moya lyubov,” again with the russian nickname that would make your knees weak. “How about this, I pick you up, we get some coffee and we just have a quick chitchat?”
You knew that it never was so simple with Yelena, but you felt your walls crashing down.
“I’m not sure, Yel…” it felt weird to pronounce that nickname after so long.
“Look up, pretty girl.”
You felt your stomach sink as you did as you were told. And there she was, in all her glory. You didn’t even question how she knew exactly where you were, Yelena just knew stuff. You knew she was your ex, but she said it was just a quick chat, can’t two people reconnect? You knew you were stronger now to her advances, you were pretty sure you only saw her as a friend. But, in all honesty, you knew you were full of shit.
Without a word, you sent a text to your friends, put your phone in your purse and got into the car, wrecking all your plans. You knew you should just stop, but you couldn't. You cursed yourself for that, she knew you too well and you hated both yourself and Yelena for that.
As soon as you took the passengers sit, Yelena sped up the car and the two of you left the building and your friends behind.
“I did miss you, Y/n,” was the first thing she said as she rested her hand on your thigh.
She knew how much you loved it when she did that.
“Mmm,” you muttered, unsure of what your answer should be.
“Didn’t you miss me?” she jokingly asked as she gently squeezed your skin.
“What do you want, Yel?”
“I thought I told you,” she quickly took a look at you before looking back at the road. “I just want to chat, that’s all.”
“It’s never that simple with you.”
“Well, maybe this time it is. Maybe this time I want things to be different,” she smiled at you, making your heart skip a beat. She still had that kind of power over you and you hated her even more for that. But not really.
You gently shook your head. It was bad, you shouldn’t have picked up the call, you shouldn't have gotten into the car. You should have thought things more clearly before letting her into your life again.
As you were mentally cursing yourself you didn’t realise that the two of you had already made it to whatever place she had driven the two of you. Realisation hit you as you now had now idea where the fuck you were, you had no other choice but to follow her. Or so you told yourself.
Yelena opened the car door for you and stretched her hand out for you to take. Which you did, you didn’t even fight it, you longed for the contact of her skin against yours. And maybe, just maybe, you thought it would be enough, just by intertwining your fingers in between hers. But, god, you were wrong.
You knew the moment you would step through her front door all sense of reason would leave your mind, and it would only remain the lust and feel of belonging you always felt around her. And you were right, the soon you stepped in, it was like you were that same person a year ago and you had no intention in fighting your feelings, not anymore. You thought maybe you deserve it, as a reward for being all this time apart from each other.
As soon as you entered it was as if you could feel Yelena everywhere. It wasn’t just the fact that she was there next to you with her hand in between yours, but you could all also smell her scent all over her place, you could see her in the furniture she had chosen, hear her in the music that was playing, and even though you had yet to taste her lips you were so overwhelmed by her entire being that it felt as if you already had.
“So, um,” she cleared her throat as she closed the door behind the two of you, getting your attention. “Would you like some coffee…?”
“Fuck it, it’s fine,” you mumbled to yourself once more before dropping your purse and shortening the distance and crashing your lips against hers.
Yelena’s hand quickly found their way to your hips, gently squeezing your flesh earning a low groan out of you. She pulled away gasping for air but the next second her lips were back on yours. You moaned into her lips as her tongue easily slipped into your mouth and found yours to mess around with.
You felt a warm feeling in your stomach as her hands roamed all over your body leaving goosebumps on their way. Then they rested on your ass, grabbing the muscle motioning for you to jump on top of her, which you did without a second thought. The feeling became a small fire in your stomach the moment your chest was pressed against hers.
“I knew you would come back,” she mumbled in between your lips, feeling her grin into the kiss.
As a response you bit her bottom lip, not really sure what you meant by that but it felt good when you heard a low moan escape from her lips.
“Don’t push your luck,” you said once you let go of it, earning a small chuckle from her.
“Yeah, you’re right, krasotka,” her thick russian was only fuel to the growing fire in your stomach.
Her lips found the crook of your neck and she left as many bites and kisses as she pleased, leading the two of you to her bedroom. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head and your fingers found their way in between her hair.
Once in her bedroom, Yelena gently laid you on her bed. As her lips made their way down to your collarbone, her hand tugged at the hem of your dress slowly and painfully bringing it up to your waist.
On command, you spread your leg open letting Yelena’s head take the place in between your thighs. She kissed and bit them, her lips ghosted over the area where you needed her the most, but all you got was her hot breath which sent a shiver up your spine and made you groan out her name.
“Stop with the teasing,” you begged her, as your legs rested on her shoulders.
“Tell me what you need,” she breathed out.
“I need you… I need your lips on me,” it almost came out as a moan.
And she did as she was told, but it wasn’t quite what you wanted. Her lips kissed and licked your core, but it wasn’t enough since the area was still being covered by your panties. You wanted more, needed more.
“Yelena, please…” you begged her once again.
“Shh…” she cooed as her fingers tugged at the hem of your underwear and slowly pushed it out of the way. “Is this where you need my lips, malishka,” her hot breath over your now uncovered cunt ripped a moan out of your mouth.
“Yes, yes, just please do something. Please, Yel, I—,” a whimper cut you off as you felt her tongue licked up your slit. “Fuck,” you could feel your heartbeat going a mile per hour.
Her tongue went up and down a few times, tasting your juices, loving who wet you were for her. She then made sure to give your clit as much attention, so she wrapped her lips around it and sucked hard. You felt your leg trembling on her shoulders as she worked her magic on you.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” you were a moaning mess, the fire in your stomach felt like it was taking over your entire body and you only wanted to give in, to let it consume you whole —to let Yelena consume you whole—.
You wrapped your legs around her head, bringing her even closer to you. The thought of her suffocating on your count scared you for half a second, but then as she ate you like a starving woman, the thought only added more to your arousal.
Yelena took a quick look at you: eyes closed, lips slightly trembling and parted, brows furrowed, your leg around her head, your hand flying to meet her hair. She wanted that moment to last forever, she wanted to be forever buried in between your legs if it only meant she could see you like this. But she could not stop time and live forever in that moment, so she could only moan at your sight. And that was what it took for you to finally come undone in her lips.
You cried out her name as your leg almost squeezed her head too harshly, but she could take it. A few curses followed her name as her tongue and lips helped you right out your high.
“I missed this, malishka,” she said breathlessly as you unwrapped your legs around her.
Her nose, lips and chin were glistening from your release, you felt something like a match lighting up inside you once again. Much to your dismay she used the back of her hand to clean some of it, which she noticed that it had bothered you since you slightly frown. She chuckled at just how cute and precious you were.
She crawled on top of you, placing her knee in between your legs and her lips found yours. You moaned as you tasted yourself on her lips and tongue, feeling the fire coming back to life.
“I missed you… so much,” she said in between kisses. “Tell me… you missed me too…”
Drunk on her scent, lips and words you couldn’t think properly. But still the words you blurted out were the truth: “I did… I missed you too…”
“Then we should… make up for… the time we lost…'' she said as her hand expertly tugged down the cleavage of your dress, she smiled to herself as she realised you weren’t wearing a bra.
She trailed a path of kiss from your neck, down to your collarbone to finally end with her lips sucking your right nipple.
“Yeah, we should…” you breathed out.
“Then, we are going to be here for a while,” she said, her words were muffled by your tit inside her mouth.
You giggled at her words but then it turned into a moan as she went on sucking.
You knew the whole thing would fire back eventually, but your head was empty, blank, no reasonable thoughts. Just one that it keep you going and that was the only thought you were willing to listen to: ‘Fuck it, it’s fine.’
draco malfoy is an idiot. (1)
                        ✧˖°ʚ🍓ɞ♡
You stood in the library, your movements sharp and angry as you slammed books back onto the shelves. It had been a month since your blowout with Draco, and the feelings from that night still rained heavy on your mind. Clearly, it had been a mutual sentiment as the tension between you and Draco whenever you two unfortunately ran into each other was thick enough to cut.
Your childhood friends, Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott, noticing your mood, exchanged concerned glances with each other.
"What's up with you, Y/N?" Blaise cautiously asked, his eyes darting between you and the bookshelves. "You've been pissed off for weeks. Did something go down with you and Draco?"
You spun around, your eyes flashing with a mix of hurt and anger. "Oh that jerk?" you snapped, your voice dripping with bitterness. "I can't believe I ever considered that loser my friend."
Theodore frowned, his eyes filled with confusion. "What did he say that got you so riled up? We know Draco can be an ass sometimes, but a month of you guys not speaking is a bit much."
You clenched your fists, the hurt and anger bubbling inside you. "You know what he did? He called me sensitive and said I couldn't take a joke," you said, your voice shaking. "He made me feel like my feelings didn't even matter to him, like I was overreacting. He didn't even try to see where I was coming from."
Blaise's eyebrows furrowed, his expression turning serious. “Dang that's a low blow, even for Draco. We know he can be a jerk, but a month of you guys not talking is a little excessive. What exactly happened during that fight?"
You took a shaky breath, the memories of that painful day flooding your mind. "It started as off as a stupid joke, but then he took it too far. I tried to tell him how he was in the wrong, but he brushed me off. He didn't care that he was hurting my feelings."
Theodore placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, his eyes soft with understanding. "I get why you're angry, Y/N. Draco can be thoughtless. But a month is a long time. Maybe he's realized his mistake and is too stubborn to admit it."
You shook your head, your eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I'm not ready to forgive him, Theo. Not yet. He really messed up, and I need him to understand how much his words hurt. I won't be the one to cave."
Blaise stepped closer, his voice gentle and understanding. "We get it, Y/N. Draco can be an arrogant jerk sometimes. But we also know he cares about you. Maybe he's too proud to admit he was wrong, but we can try to talk to him, see if he'll apologize."
You scoffed, your anger simmering just below the surface. "Don't bother, Blaise. I don't want anything to do with him anymore. If he's waiting for my apology he can wait all he wants. Besides, he must be 'so sorry' himself to let a month pass by." You added sarcastically, rolling your eyes.
Theodore squeezed your shoulder, his eyes filled with determination. "Y/N, we just want to help. We know you and Draco go way back, and we can see you guys really care about each other. We're worried, and we want to fix this."
 You shook your head, your eyes flashing with a mix of hurt and stubbornness. "There's nothing between us Theo. Not anymore. And even if there was, it doesn't change the fact that he hurt me. I'm not ready to forgive him."
Blaise and Theodore shared a worried glance, their faces grim. "We won't push you, Y/N," Blaise said, his voice gentle. "But we're concerned. We know you and Draco have a very....close relationship. We just want to see you happy again."
You sighed, your shoulders slumping in defeat. "I appreciate it, guys. I know you're trying to help. But Draco and I are done, and that's final."
As you turned away from them, your eyes landed on the books you had angrily shelved, their spines crooked and out of place. It was a reflection of the chaos inside you—a chaos that idiot Draco had caused and seemed to have no intention of fixing anytime soon.
Blaise and Theodore exchanged a meaningful glance, their faces filled with concern. "We'll give it one more shot," Theodore said, his voice unwavering. "We'll talk to him, try to talk some sense into that rascal."
You shook your head, a bitter smile on your lips. You knew there was no way they could possibly make Draco Malfoy apologize.  "Good luck with that. Draco's too stubborn for his own good. And even if he is sorry, he won't admit it. He's too proud for that."
Blaise placed a hand on your shoulder, his eyes filled with sympathy. "We'll see, Y/N. We know how to get through to him. And if he truly cares, he'll find a way to make things right."
And as you continued to shelve books, your anger slowly fading into sadness, you knew that Blaise and Theodore would do their best to mend the rift between you and Draco. But deep down, you weren't ready to forgive him, not yet. The hurt was still too raw, and the silence between you stretched on.
Hey there is there anyway where we could get a Jax x younger sibling reader. Perhaps he gets into a argument with them and they run off crying because of what he had said to them. Than something happens to the reader and than Jax feels absolutely terrible but the reader ends up being okay and Jax gives them a hug<3
Digital disharmony
(Jax x gn!younger sibling!reader)
I really love writing for tadc especially the platonic fics. Thank you for sending this in and I really hope you enjoy this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You always admired Jax, you followed him around, you copied the way he acted, and you did everything he did, but he didn’t completely love it. In all honestly, he found you very annoying. He still cared for you though.
He tried to encourage you to be your own person albeit using less-than-kind methods. Jax would tease you and even at times yell at you whenever you were practically on his tail from following him so close.
You have been trying to get Jax's attention all day, following him around like a shadow, but Jax's patience was wearing thin.
"Hey. Kid, can you give me some space for once?" Jax snapped, his voice tight with frustration. "I'm trying to focus here." Turning back to whatever he was doing, probably something to use against Gaggle.
Your brows furrowed at the reprimand, their own patience wearing thin. "I just want to spend time with you, Jax," you replied, your voice tinged with hurt. "Is that too much to ask?" You asked sarcastically, Jax let out an annoyed sigh, running a hand down his face in frustration. "Look, I’m clearly busy right now, okay? I don't have time to babysit you."
Your eyes narrowed, what was his problem? “Babysit me?" You repeated in disbelief, your voice rising with anger. "I'm not a child, Jax." Jax's temper flared at the defiance in their tone. "Oh, really?" he shot back, his voice dripping with sarcasm, his classic sadistic smile planted on his face. "Because it sure doesn't seem like it. All you do is follow me around, trying to act like me. It's pathetic."
Your jaw dropped in disbelief, "I just look up to you, Jax," you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
"I really don’t care," Jax retorted, his voice growing with malice. "I'm sick of you following me around all the time kid. Just leave me alone.”
With that, you stormed out of the room, tears in your eyes, having heard enough, if he didn’t want you there then you’d leave.
After you stormed out of the room, Jax found himself looking at the door you left from, his anger slowly giving way to guilt. He knew he had gone too far with you, that his words had been much harsher than he had intended. But Jax felt he was too good to apologize, that’s what kept him from going back, kept him from admitting his mistake. He knew even if he really didn’t want to he would have to apologize sooner or later. He had to find you…
He did find you eventually, you sat just outside the tent of the digital circus, looking at the sky, or at least the pixel rendering of one. The tears in your eyes were still present but slowly drying as you tried to calm yourself.
Jax approached you slowly, the thoughts of what he said heavy in his head.
"Hey," Jax said softly, you turned to look at him, your eyes filled with sadness and resentment. You quickly wipe your tears, he didn’t need to see you cry. "What do you want, Jax?" You replied, bitterness lacing your voice. Jax swallowed hard, trying to find the right words to say. "I'm sorry," he said at last, his voice so quite you’d miss it if you weren’t paying attention. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just... frustrated, and I took it out on you. That was…wrong. I'm sorry.”
You looked at Jax for a moment, your expression softening ever so slightly. "It still hurts, you know," you said quietly. "Your words, I mean."
Jax nodded, he did feel bad, genuinely he felt so bad. “I know," He replied. "And I know you don’t have to forgive me, but…." Jax gives you a childish smile, trying to make you laugh. Unfortunately for you, it worked
You let out a soft giggle "I forgive you, Jax," You said.
As they sat there together looking at the digital sky, the vibrant hues of the sunset casting an ethereal glow over them, a sense of calm descended upon them. It was a moment of quiet understanding, broken by you.
"I'm glad we talked," You said softly, "I was afraid you’d never talk to me." You said with a small laugh, despite the real fear behind that sentence.
Jax nodded, his gaze fixed on the view ahead. "Me too," he begrudgingly admitted. Jax reached out his hand and pulled you into a hug. It was a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes especially to you knowing how Jax was averse to affection.
So Emily and Aaron have been having an affair for a few months and they’re having sex in his office and Haley either walks in and catches them and makes a scene or just leaves them to it and the team are wondering why she didn’t go in 🫣
A/N: Please stick with these idiots, I promise they won’t be horrible for much longer!
Title: Love like mine (6/11) Chapter title: What you got to offer Summary: He wasn’t a cheater. Until her. Word count: 3,3k Rating: Explicit   Warnings (for this chapter): Smut, cheating, getting caught, feelings, hurt
“Open the God damn door!”
Emily wasn’t surprised at the loud, frantic banging on her front door. She had waited for it for days, ever since Aaron told her that Haley knew. She wasn’t going to make excuses, she knew from the beginning that it was wrong, but had decided that she didn’t care and now the consequences of their actions had caught up to them.
She opens the door and comes face to face with the other woman. Well, technically, she was the other woman she assumes, the thought bitter on her tongue. For a few seconds they just stare at each other, unspoken words loud between the two women.
“Come in.” She finally says and steps to the side to let Haley in.
“You’re something else, you know that?” Her tone is filled with venom, the anger radiating from her body and for a second Emily thinks she’s going to get slapped. But Haley wasn’t violent, she never would be. Instead she looks at the brunette with something close to disgust. “Is this what you do? Do whatever you want and not caring about anything or anybody else? He’s married, he has a child.”
“I know.” She hadn’t felt much guilt during these months, but she realizes that it’s because she doesn’t let herself think about his family too much, doesn’t want to think of herself as a homewrecker.
“And what?” She chuckles sarcastically, her arms crossing over her chest as she does. “You knew so that makes it okay?”
“No.” She sighs and pushes some of her bangs out of her eyes. “But Haley, he the one who’s married. I’m not.” The flash of hurt that flashes in the other woman’s eyes makes her pause for a second before continuing. “I know it’s easy, to blame all of this on me and you probably will, I deserve that, I went after him. But at the end of the day I’m not the one cheating. And we both know that Aaron isn’t the kind of man to cheat, unless something was already missing.”
“Is that really what you believe?” Haley ignores the pang in her chest as the voice inside her head says that Emily’s right, they had been growing apart without realizing for years.
“I am sorry. For hurting you.” She isn’t lying, their actions might have been wrong but she never wanted to hurt Haley, that had never been her intention. “I know how that might sound, but I am.”
“You’re awful. You have no regard for anybody else but yourself.” She forces her voice to steady and the tears down as she walks back to the door. “You wanted him, you can have him.”
Emily doesn’t get the chance to respond before the door slams shut. She deserves the other woman’s anger, she knows that. For the first time she finds herself truly regretting her own choices.
*
“Haley told me she came to see you, are you okay?” He finds her alone in the station they’re in, had been wanting to talk to her for hours but hadn’t had the time.
“I’m fine. I expected it.” She shrugs, not indifferent to the other woman’s feelings but knew that there was nothing she could do about it, what’s done is done. “Besides, she has the right to be angry.”
“She does.” He agrees softly and sighs. “But she hasn’t shown much anger towards me, so I’m guessing that she’s blaming it all on you.”
“Hotch,” Neither of them acknowledges that it’s the first time she’s called him that in weeks. “let her. Let her be angry, let her blame me. We’re both to blame but you have Jack, you need to figure your stuff with her out. So let her be angry at me, for now.”
He’s about to tell her no, is about to reach for her but Derek calls for her before he gets the chance.
“I’m sorry for this, for this mess.” She whispers as she passes him, heading in Derek’s direction.
“I’m not.” He mumbles to himself as he watches her go. Whatever they were, whatever they had been to each other, she had made him see that he wasn’t as happy as he had thought.
*
It’s harder than she thought, working with him but not being with him the way she had gotten used to. Somewhere along the way she had let her guard down, had let him become something more than just a thrill. And she hated it, because it was the opposite to what they had decided. She can see it on him too, the flashes of something more, the way his eyes would linger on her, words he can’t say on the tip of his tongue before whatever sanity was still left between them took charge and he backed away.
For that, she’s thankful. Because she wouldn’t be able to turn him away if he did. Her body and mind still consumed with the want that was nothing short of primal, a desire that seemed nothing could lessen.
It's been almost a month since he moved out, a month that’s gone by in a blur. Somewhere between working their cases he finds an apartment, tries to find some kind of middle ground with Haley. To her credit she gives him more than he deserves, she doesn’t do it for him, he knows. She does it for Jack, for their son that needs his dad. Her hurt is still obvious, not that he blames her, but slowly, it gets a little better.
Then there’s Emily, someone he should stay away from, but even if he wanted to he couldn’t, they worked together. It hits him sometimes, the stupidity of what they did, but he doesn’t regret it, even when it’s hard. And it’s hard every day. He thinks about her more than he should, still remembers her taste, her touch, her lazy smile in the morning before she’s fully woken up.
It's madness, but sometimes he thinks that she was the right person for him, the woman he should have been with. But he isn’t sure if that’s his guilt trying to make him feel better.
Then suddenly it’s been another month and it still hasn’t gotten any better, he still thinks about her, and he knows that she’s not unbothered by him. They’re stuck in a constant state of friction and he wonders who would break fist, because staying away from each other seemed like an impossibility.
In hindsight, he should have known it would be him.
They’re in Orlando, it’s hot and she’s taken her jacket off hours ago. The tank top she wore underneath is tight, the soft lining of it riding up just enough for him to catch a glimpse of her lower back when she leans forward, and he can’t think about anything else but her. She notices, he knows she does, and he still doesn’t stop.
It’s a case they solve that same day and as they’re flying home later that night he ends up with her across from him at the two person table. He tries to focus on the paperwork, he really does, but he can feel her eyes on him, senses the smirk before he looks up.
“What?” He asks quietly. The team were all resting, most of them asleep or wearing headphones but there’s no need to get more attention to themselves than necessary.
“You’ve been staring.” She knows she sounds smug when she speaks and he raises an eyebrow in return. “You can’t do that.”
He takes a moment, studies her as he weighs his options. On one hand he could apologize, tell her that he didn’t mean to and they could leave it at that, or, he could meet her challenge and see how she would react.
“Last time I checked you liked when I stared at you.” He decided on option two and when she bit her bottom lip to keep her smirk from becoming a full blown grin he knew he chose right. “Looks like you still like it.”
She glances behind her at the team quickly before leaning forward over the table. When his eyes fall to her cleavage she hums lowly.
“We shouldn’t though.”
“We never should have in the first place.”
But they don’t go beyond that, they land in DC and as all of them finish up their work there’s no way she could sneak into his office without them noticing. Then Penelope suggests going out for a late dinner and she can’t say no. When she turns back she sees him in the window, his dark eyes sending a shiver down her spine.
When she walks into the office the following day it’s like she had no control over her body, her legs carrying her towards his office before she fully even registers it. It’s still early, the bullpen is empty, but he’s there, working at his desk when she closes the door behind her. He looks up just as she closes the blinds and he stands from his chair.
“Emily?” He sees the tension on her face, recognizes that look in her eyes and he immediately feel a tugging low in his belly.
“I know we said that we should stop, but I can’t stop thinking about you.”
“I can’t stop thinking about you either.” He admits and he sees the way she relaxes slightly.
“Good.” She smiles before walking towards him quickly and her arms wraps around his neck. His lips on hers causes her to sigh happily, a soft moan leaving her as he pulls her closer. It had been months since he kissed her, but it still felt the same, still felt just as good and she lets herself get lost in him, in the familiarity of him.
He’s barely aware her hands move to get his jacket off, or that they’re moving so she’s sitting on his desk until a few files fall to the floor. But he doesn’t care, consumed by her, by finally being like this with her again. His hands move under her shirt, feels her soft skin against his slightly calloused fingertips and then he pulls her shirt off, not caring where it lands before he’s kissing her again.
“Do we have time for this?” He asks against her lips, voice low and breathless already and she nods, desperation in her frenzied kisses and trembling fingers.
“Not a lot of time, do you want to stop?” Her fingers are already on his pants, getting the belt undone and unzipping his slacks and she hears his soft groan.
“No.” He hisses as her hand sneaks inside his boxers to wrap around him, half hard already. She twists her wrist and his hips buckle against her touch, the pleasure of it momentarily distracting him from getting her undressed. But it’s only for a moment and then he’s unbuttoning her pants and she lifts her hips enough for him to slide them off her legs, dragging her underwear with them as he goes.
“I need you.” She mumbles, hands pulling down his boxers enough to free him while he lets his hand travel up her thighs, watches as goosebumps erupt over her skin as he gets closer to her core. “Do not tease me.” She warns and he can’t help the low snicker.
“Always so impatient.” He steps between her spread legs and pulls her to the edge of the desk. When he slowly drags the tip of him through her folds her head falls back, a breathy moan leaving her parted lips and he’s quick to lick and kiss along the column of her throat. “Good to know some things don’t change.” He mutters against her ear before pushing inside of her with one smooth thrust.
“Fuck!” She hisses at the stretch of him, so familiar but always a lot to take. He gives her a moment to adjust, fingers gripping her hips and lips soft against her neck, a stark contrast that makes her dizzy. “Move, Aaron fuck me.” She grinds against him and he doesn’t need any more prompting.
“Perfect, you’re perfect.” He mumbles as he starts to move with long, forceful thrusts that causes her body to jerk and her legs wrap around his hips. Somewhere in the back of his mind he thinks that it feels right, being with her like this, but he forces the thought away for now and instead focuses on the way she’s biting her bottom lip to keep quiet, focuses on the way her slick walls cling to his shaft.
It's intense, fast and hard and everything she had needed. Her hips would be bruised from his grip, her nails would leave lines on his chest and she realizes that this is the first time she doesn’t have to worry about evidence of her on his body. With that thought in mind she lets her teeth sink into his shoulder, leaves an angry mark that will be hidden under his collar for the rest of the day and she can’t help but to feel powerful. Especially when he groans lowly, the pain of the bite causing his hips to stutter and his eyes to flash with dark arousal.
“Marking me, sweet thing?” He grunts and she nods before pulling him into a sloppy kiss.
“Just this once.” She hums, something wicked hiding in her smirk as she does and he kisses her again. He keeps one hand around the back of her neck, keeps her close as he lets his other hand move between them. When he finds her clit and circles it she breaks their kiss with a soft moan, dark eyes hooded and hazy as she looks up at him.
“Don’t stop, do not stop.” She gasps, pleasure quickly building by every second and he rubs her clit faster. The way he smirks at her breathless words make her flush, his arrogance always something that had attracted her to him.
“Look at that, so close already.” He moves his hand from the back of her neck to her throat, keeps his thumb under her chin to force her to continue to look at him. “You’re so pretty when you come, so pretty for me.”
His words are low, his voice close to a soft growl as he speaks and she feels herself crashing into her orgasm unexpectedly. He keeps his hold on her neck, keeps rubbing her clit and she’s moments away from crying out but he muffles her sounds with his lips.
“Fuck Em, so good.” He grunts, his own pleasure building by every thrust, her tightening center like a vice around him as he keeps rubbing her clit. “Again.” He tells her and he can barely feel the way she nods breathlessly, close to delirious as he forces pleasure from her body.
*
Haley walks into the bullpen slowly, it was strange, being back here. The last time she was Jack was only a few weeks old and she realizes that it’s been almost three years ago. It’s quiet, only a few people having entered the bullpen but she knew Aaron was there. The blinds were closed, so was the door and that was odd to her, he never closed the blinds.
She walks up the stairs and gets ready to knock, but then she hears it, muffled and low but the unmistakable sound of his voice.
“Fuck Em, so good.” Then a few seconds later. “Again.”
She knows what she’s about to walk in on before she opens the door, but for some twisted reason  she feels like she needs to see what she already knows. She opens the door just as Aaron groans his pleasure against Emily’s neck, his whole body jerking as she clings to him, eyes closed and jaw slacked as she too is lost in pleasure. For a moment it’s quiet, nothing but labored breathing and Haley watching them. It’s not until she drops the papers in her hand, the rustling of an envelope loud enough for Aaron to turn and Emily to open her eyes and they jump apart.
“Haley!” Aaron quickly stands in front of Emily to cover her nearly naked body and grabs his pants, somehow forgetting that Haley’s probably seen him naked more than a thousand times. “What are you- fuck I-”
“Don’t.” She hisses, anger she had not shown him yet close to erupting. “Don’t say a word.” She can’t bring herself to look at them any longer, so she turns and the door slams shut behind her. She stalks down the stairs, not caring that she’s drawing attention of the few people in the office.
“Haley what are you doing-” JJ asks as she, Spencer and Penelope walk through the glass doors, the other woman almost knocking them over. She doesn’t get a response, Haley ignoring them as she hurries towards the elevator.
Derek comes out of the elevator and just barely manages to avoid her and he looks at her with concern.
“Are you alright?”
“No. I’m not.” She says just before the doors closes.
“What the hell was that about?” Derek asks as he turns to his friends still standing in the doorway facing him.
“No idea.” Spencer shrugs, all of them confused, all of them wondering what went wrong between Aaron and Haley.
*
Dave knocks softly on the door to his office, he had caught the seconds before Haley stormed out, had his suspicions about what she had just witnessed. Aaron only opens the door slightly, his tie crooked and hair disheveled.
“Are you two decent?” He asks and he can see the look of confusion on the younger man’s face. “You better hurry, the rest of the team is arriving.” He continues and when Aaron steps to the side to let him in, he sees Emily leaning against the desk, eyes wide but overall looking as put together as she usually does.
“How long have you known?” She asks, embarrassment clear in her voice.
“A while.” He shrugs and straightens Aaron’s tie. “You can’t get anything past me, you should know that.” He gives the other man a look and he can see the look of resignation on his face.
“Will you keep this to yourself?” Aaron asks and when Dave nods he breathes a sigh of relief.
“It’s not my secret to share.”
*
Emily walks into his office later that same day. The day had seemed endless, dragging by slowly without a case to focus on. Dave had helped them cover, had come out of the office with them to avoid more questions from the team than necessary, but the older man knew and that changed everything.
It made things real.
He’s looking over papers, pen in hand when she knocks on his open door and he looks up at her. Her eyes land on the papers, noticing that it’s not the documents from any case they’re working on and his head tilts to the side.
“Divorce papers.” He explains. “That’s what Haley was here to give me, what she dropped on the floor.”
“Oh.” She can’t think of anything else to say, the file in her hand forgotten as she watches him sign them with determination. When he looks back up at her she finds herself asking him what she had been wondering for weeks, if not months.
“Were you happy with her?” She doesn’t notice that she’s holding her breath until he speaks, his voice low and soft.
“I was content. But I also know I could be happy with you.”
I am still here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yunho also knew that this relationship could not happen. He sat in your living room and looked at the photo: Two little children hugging each other. As a bitter smile appeared on his face, he heard that soft voice: "Why are you still here?" "You didn't say I had to go." Neither of you could look into each other's eyes.
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, "I never told you to leave, Yunho." He looked at you for a moment. “Maybe you should.”
"Yunho-"
"Why didn't you say he was your boyfriend?" He clenched his fist so tightly that his knuckles turned white. You breathed out, "I didn't know I had to tell you. What difference would that make, anyway?" You sat in the seat farthest from him. You couldn't look into his eyes. You knew if you looked at him you would lose.
"A lot would change. In fact, everything would change." You suddenly turned your head towards Yunho. He had that sheepish look on his face that he used to give you when he was a kid and he got into trouble and you saved him. "What do you want to say?" You couldn't take your eyes off him anymore. "I mean, nothing matters anymore." He suddenly stood up. "Yunho wait-" before you could finish your sentence he headed for the door "It was a mistake to even consider the possibility of having a chance with you. Who am I kidding? Who would fall in love with their best friend?" He turned around and looked at you.
"Go and be happy with him."
You walked towards him angrily, grabbed his arm and turned him towards you. "Yunho, seriously! What's your problem? Can't he be my boyfriend?" Yunho laughed sarcastically. "Yes, of course it could be. But do you think it makes sense that he would confess to you the day after I told him I loved you and I got advice from him on how to tell you?!"
Your mouth fell open. You looked at him blankly. "Do you think he did this on purpose?"your voice was shaking with frustration and anger.
"Knowingly or unknowingly. It doesn't mean anything anymore." He looked at you one last time. “If you still need anything, I'm here.” He slammed the door and left you alone with your thoughts in that cold, dark room.
I saw you were looking for lotr requests, could you maybe do enemies to lovers with either Aragorn x reader or Legolas x reader? Thanks! :)
shrike
Tumblr media
aragorn x fem!reader
summary: aragorn confronts you of your reckless ways and you wonder if his anger is coming from irritation or simply a place of worry.
warnings: ranger!reader, angst(at first?), mentions of nudity(not nsfw), hurt/comfort.
a/n: since you gave me options I decide to do aragorn, hope it's to your liking<3
°°°
Aragorn hisses through his teeth as the bitter cold finally starts to affect him after three daya of patrol.
His annoyance however, wasn't just directed at the weather. You had left 5 days ago to make sure the further away forest in south of Ithillien were clear of any orcs.
And unsurprisingly, you still had not return.
He had not even see glimpses of you nor any footsteps to follow since he started his patrol. Though some would say all that was just another sign of your capabilities as a ranger, he knew better.
When dusk had finally reach, Aragorn, with a defeated sigh decided to return to the small abandoned hut deep in the woods, marked by the dunedains as a safe house whilst it being unknown to other folks.
His stomach growled but he ignored his hinger as he started attending to his horse, cleaning it and making sure it's fed first before him.
As his fingers comb through it's mane, the birds screamed along the skies, alerting him of a presence. And by the loud sound of hooves getting nearer, his heart was relieved and at once he leaves his horse and turns towards you.
The thumping of the horse came to a half when met with Aragorn. Hands folding together againts his chest, the ranger was ready to launch into a long detailed lecture, but as the sight of you slumped on the horse, hands trembling as you hold on to the reins, he could only mutter a mouthful of elvish curse before rushing to your side and easily pulling you down into his arms.
You were not passed out, of course not. For if you were, you wouldn't be struggling againts his hold, determined to attempt a walk inside the hut.
After finally getting inside with his help, you shoved him off of you, walking in large shaky steps towards dinner table.
"No dinner?" You slurred as you fell right on the chair.
You felt Aragorn's gaze burn through your back but could barely care. "Oh, I thought you would've been in charge of that, seeing you were gone for almost a week, the least you could do was steal a chicken for me, you know."
You didn't have to turn around to know he was being sarcastic, one of his weirdly attractive scowls probably plastered on his face.
"There were orcs when I got there, now there aren't. I got the job done and that's all that matters, so I'd appreciate less yelling and more cooking." You responded casually, unaffected by his anger.
Aragorn had moved from across the door to your side in a split second, fingers holding you up by your chin to meet his eyes. "That is not all that matters you impetuous rodent." He grits out, voice low yet every word felt like a shout.
You ripped his hand of you face, hating how much of a child he's making you feel, immediately turning away from him.
"That is all that matters to me. Not you nor your opinion of how I complete my tasks." You hands were still shaking, but now of anger, not from tiredness. "I hate you." You remember to add. He says nothing, eyes unwaveringly glaring at you.
"You know-" you started, feeling defensive of yourself.
"I've fought multiple group of orcs with nothing more than a sword and a bow, and for every punch to the ground I receive, I've always managed to get back up." He lets out a short humourless laugh at your prideful statement.
"And what if one day you don't? What if one day you're slammed to the ground and couldn't find it in yourself to be revived from the cold grounds of earth?" You note on the softness of his tone, even still, as stern as ever.
"Then, I'll pray for the dirts of the earth to close itself around me and let myself remain there, where I belong." Oh how he hated to hear those words. It wasn't the first time you've said something along the lines.
You were so stubborn in everything you do, was it so hard for you let someone else make the call for once.
the silence after your last sentence was almost peaceful, too long for your liking however.
Aragorn then, ended the excruciatingly long quietness with a loud and tired sigh, embarked from the deep of his chest.
"I'll start skinning the chicken, if you could start boiling some water for it before you take a bath." He concluded.
You gave him a nod before gently getting up to do as you're asked.
Once the water was ready for him to boil the chicken, you make your way to the river not far from where you're residing. Sliding into the warm water, your eyes closes at the cleansing feeling of the water against your skin. Orc blood was so hard to be removed off, but this was a start.
You flinch as you rubbed some water againts your stomach, where a terribly bandaged wound was forgotten to be there. Strengthening yourself, you ignore the sharp pain throbbing where the water hits and finish off cleansing yourself.
You ducked your head under the water for one last time, water splashing about as you rise up from it's depth.
Basking in the light of night stars, you shake off the dripping water from your hair and body before turning around to climb off of the river.
As your eyes falls to the clean clothes instead of your dirty ones by the side of the river, it does not fail to notice the shadow of strider, walking inside the hut as soon as your head turned.
The ranger says nothing as you enter the hut a few me minutes later, but the elephant in the room remained, that is of how you're currently wearing his clothes.
He gives you plate of chicken and you muttered to him a small thank you before diving in.
As good as it was for an unseasoned chicken, the urge to make jests of his cooking has arose in your chest. You never did enjoy a quiet meal time. "Perhaps some spices next time, hm?"
He glares at you.
"This isn't your mother's house, we make do with what we have." You rolled your eyes dramatically, making sure he saw it. That was your aragorn, so serious all the time, like an old tired father of ten.
"My mother is dead so I'd have to make do if I was at her house anyways." You spoke quitely, still heard in his ears. This time it was he who rolled his eyes. childish rodent. his annoyingly aggravating rat.
Finishing the rest of the meal in a more comfortable silence, the tension on his shoulder and frowning face seeming to lessen.
You helped him with the dishes before going out to attend to your horse, feeding it and brushing it's mane before leaving it with a goodnight kiss on it's nose.
Expecting Aragorn to already be asleep, instead you're met with him awaiting you on the dining table with bandages and medicine rolled on the table. You stand by the door, staring at his preparation in suprise.
"Come on then you stubborn rabbit, that wrapping is awful, it'll fall open once you start jumping around again." He chided.
His voice broke the trance you were in as you obediently walked towards him, letting his expertise to bandage your wound properly.
You'd argue you could do it yourself, but even lone rangers need a helping hand sometimes.
Under the influence: Part 2
Part 1
As per popular demand, couldn't leave this one without a part 2 :) I hope you'll like it!
Warnings: suggestive? perhaps, enemies with benefits, jealousy.
Villain was never the smothering type. They weren't needy, clingy or possessive. They never got attached and certainly were not one to get jealous. They would be pegged as indifferent and detached, if anything. They hated feeling suffocated by unwanted attention and trapped in endless power plays, so they distanced themself enough to make their stance clear. In other words, Villain didn't do relationships.
But this time was different. Their night with Hero evolved into something they were not anticipating. At first, the whole enemies-with-benefits situation seemed like a good idea. Both of them needed an outlet from their daily lives and struggles - and what better way to do that than fucking out the built-up tension? And it worked well. Too well, if they dare say.
Hero's birthday was three months ago, though it felt much longer than that. Their days went by in a grey haze while the nights blurred into something akin to a nightmare. They met up once or twice a week. Those were the only days that Villain remembered clearly. It felt like they were constantly drunk, only sobering up for the few hours that they spent in Hero's bed. Always in secret, of course. Hero had a reputation to uphold - being seen so much as talking with Villain would be a disaster. Publicity mattered more.
Which was the exact reason for Hero's official date today. And no, Villain did not give a damn about the arm candy that hung onto Hero like their life depended on it. If their sweet smiles and exaggerated giggles made Villain sick in the stomach, it had nothing to do with Hero. Villain despised public displays like that, simple as that. They knew the annual reception was coming up - and Hero needed someone to take. Again, for publicity. The few dates they had sparked discussions, which was what their PR team was building drama for - a red-carpet moment.
Villain huffs, annoyed that Hero cancelled on them for the ditz they were fake dating. Yes, they had every right to date whoever they liked. It's not like Villain had any claim over them or anything. But it still stung. They tried to convince themselves that it was their pride, but the dull ache of their chest spoke otherwise. They slammed a hand over their heart, willing it to shut up.
"I thought you had plans," Hero's voice interrupts their inner monologue rather harshly.
Villain whips around, eyebrows rising. "What are you doing here?" Hero shrugs, sitting down on the cold concrete of the roof Villain was occupying. "Though you had a date?"
Hero nods, mind absent as they trail their eyes over Villain's forced smile and strained jaw. "I did. It ended."
"That soon?" Villain cringes when the question comes out, flooding their throat with rising bile. They intended it to sound sarcastic. It's pathetic how badly they fail to control their emotions.
Hero chuckles, oblivious to the tribulations of their archnemesis. "Took some pics at the bar and walked them to their door."
They don't understand why Villain even wants to talk about something this insignificant. They'd prefer to be kissing them by now, like they always do on this roof.
"That's barely even a date," Villain comments, their voice bitter with something they've not deciphered yet. It's neither jealousy nor anger, the taste more reminiscent of... disappointment? They don't know.
"As long as it counts with the press. Wouldn't wanna waste my whole evening," Hero replies, eyes trained on the city lights. After a moment of silence, they turn to face Villain. "Do you have time? I know I cancelled, but I'm here now."
"What, your contract doesn't cover sex?" Yeah, definitely disappointment. They pray Hero won't question it. "I don't have time, though. I've got places to be and people to rob."
"Hey, are you mad at me?" Hero finally seems to be using their brain, but Villain is nowhere near being happy about it.
They curse under their breath and attempt to salvage the situation by acting dumb. "Why would I?"
"I- you seem off and..." They stop mid-sentence, stepping back into the shadows to avoid being seen when they see a reporter crossing the street.
'Course, publicity over everything," Villain bites their tongue a little too late. They shouldn't have said that. They have no right or reason to feel hurt. And yet they do.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Hero steps towards them, about to get hold of their hand, but Villain withdraws it.
"Nothing," with that, they leave, deserting Hero on the cold roof.
Hero is left lost in thought. They keep replaying the conversation to try and make sense of what happened but fail to see the pattern of their behaviour, albeit unwilling, that caused the change in their dynamic with Villain. They are exhausted from the constant role they are forced to play, and Villain is the only escape they have - or, had, as it seems they will now be deprived of it, too.
Hero was in despair. Between patrolling the streets, constant nagging for interviews, fake dating and not seeing Villain other than for battle for two whole weeks, they felt overwhelmed and utterly helpless. It was too much - everything happening at once, urgent demands after pressing requirements after persistent responsibilities. They felt like a caged animal and had no one to blame - all of it was their fault. Thus, Hero was losing their sanity, and the one person that had the ability to ground them wanted nothing to do with them anymore. Another thing that was entirely their fault.
And if all of that was not enough, they had to attend the stupid reception that the mayor was hosting.
"Just my luck," they mumble, struggling with their hair, as their fingers tremble with unreasonable irritation.
They know it's not a big deal, they've been through the same kind of event a dozen times before. Today wasn't gonna be any different. They'll have a glass of ridiculously expensive champagne, force a smile here and there, nod and look invested when someone talks, take pictures for the press and leave as soon as they can. Even if their mind races back and forth, not allowing for a moment of quiet.
Needless to say, by the time their car stops in front of the city hall, Hero is on edge. They are attacked by flashing cameras and a billion questions fired at them as they walk through the doors, ignoring everyone. A glass is pressed into their hand as they enter, the mayor appearing by their side in a matter of seconds. The evening proceeds as predicted until a painfully familiar voice invades their wandering mind.
"Where's your date?" Hero attempts to turn but a firm hand prevents them from moving.
"Villain." The sigh of relief that escapes Hero is audible even over the music. The can't help the smile that tugs at the corners of their lips. God, they missed that voice. "I came alone."
"Hm?" Villain quirks an eyebrow, rounding them to stand face to face to their beautiful yet miserable archnemesis. "How come?"
"You're talking to me now?" Hero looks at them with barely contained contempt. They want to yell at Villain for ignoring - better yet, abandoning them. But that would imply admitting they were in pain.
"Excuse me? I've talked to you plenty." Villain tilts their head, lying through their teeth, but Hero sees right through them.
"No, you have not," their voice is scornful, eyes fixed on their fingers gripping the glass until their knuckles turn white.
"What, did you miss me?" Villain knows it's a poor attempt at mockery when their heart is leaping up their throat.
"I did," Hero admits, as if it's perfectly ordinary for them to say. In their mind, it is. "Why do you look surprised?"
Villain shakes their head, flabbergasted at the path their conversation has taken. The music grows louder as people start flooding the dance floor. "Why would I?"
"Don't give me that bullshit again," Hero pleads, their gaze searches Villain's face for answers but upon not finding anything, they stretch their hand towards them, opting for a different route. "Dance with me?"
"What?" Villain meets their eyes, their expression incredulous. "Are you out of your mind?"
"Perhaps I am," Hero leads them to the center of the room, ignoring the immediate stares and whispers. They are done with hiding. "I've missed talking to you," they murmur into Villains ear as they draw them closer by the waist, "and holding you."
Villain can't breathe, their lungs contracting in their chest at the feeling of Hero's palm against their back. "Did someone spike your drink again?"
Hero shakes their head no, prompting Villain to focus on them. They notice everyone's attention and their manager freaking out in the corner.
"Hero, people are watching." Villain can't tell if Hero is sound of mind at this point, but they still try to reason with them.
"So?" Hero winks before dipping them back. It's an act of rebellion, Villain assumes, barely suppressing their smirk. Fucking finally.
"There are reporters," they point half-heartedly, amusement creeping into their voice.
Hero lets out an exasperated huff but when they speak, their tone is firm and determined. "I don't give a damn about reporters. I need you."
"But what about..?" Villain's question is cut short by Hero's lips pressed against theirs. Their lips part at the suddenness of it, and Hero uses the opportunity to slide their tongue into their mouth. A few gasps and a shriek of horror escape the guests but Hero couldn't care less.
When they pull away, Villain's eyes remain closed to keep all of the spectators out of their mind. "Your public image is in shambles now."
Hero shrugs, an ecstatic grin stretches their lips when Villain meets their gaze. They recognise the familiar dangerous sparkle before Villain can utter the words. "Kiss me again?"
"Right here?" They question, stunned by the request because it was Villain - the same Villain that was disgusted by public sentiments. Villain's eyes go blank again, just like they did in Hero's kitchen when they assumed their advances were unwanted. Hero shakes their head frantically to stop their assumptions from forming. "Yes. God, yes."
Hero barely manages to get the words out before capturing Villain's mouth with theirs in a starved kiss. They feel famished, ravenous as they swallow Villain's every gasp. Suddenly Villain doesn't hate PDA anymore. They allow their arms to snake around Hero's waist, holding them close as they resume swaying to their own rhythm. Hero cups Villain's face and drags their lips over their jaw, before leaving a soft kiss under their ear. "Let's get out of here."
Rewind, Remix, & Replay Jay & Kim 6x6
You can read the rest of the series here
You guys have no idea how excited I was to write this chapter!!! The whole thing came together in just over an hour. Things are going to start getting some momentum and some more stuff is going to get aired out.
Jay had been over at Haliey's checking up on her. After hearing her in the interrogation room he knew his partner shouldn’t be alone. He had been there trying unsuccessfully to get her to talk to him about it for over an hour. He was finishing up his second beer sitting at her island in the kitchen when she got up to answer the knock on her door.
He recognizes the voice and when he rounds the corner, he sees Ruzek standing practically on top of Haliey. The way he is in her space is intimate. Jay feels anger clench in his chest. After the way, he talked to Kim about their inter-team relationship, and he was messing around with Haliey. Where did he get off?
Jay knew the moment Ruzek saw him. The man immediately took a few steps back and his gaze shot away from Haliey guiltily. “It’s not what it looks like.” Jay scoffs- this is the guy Kim was so mad about him punching? This self-righteous hypocrite, who couldn’t even own up to his relationship? It was pathetic.
“Smart, nothing good comes from workplace relationships.” The comment was sarcastic and bitter. He goes back into the kitchen to grab his jacket. He is yanking it on and heading back out the door before he says or does something he will regret- or makes Kim mad at him again. He hears Haliey call his name as he leaves the door swing closed behind him. Upton was his partner if nothing else then she should have told him. He knew the familiarity they were showing- they had been together for a while.
Jay closes Kim’s apartment door a little too harshly. She takes that to mean that Haliey hadn’t been receptive to his pep talk. “Is Hailey, okay?” Kim mutes the TV as Jay walks into the living room.
“Oh, I’d say so.” Kim’s eyebrows furrow together at his angry tone as he takes off his jacket and throws it over the back of the recliner. Jay puts his hands on his hips as he levels her with a straight stare. “Ruzek and her are together.” Jay’s blue gaze watched her intently for any reactions. Kim had been with Ruzek and she was devastated after she had felt forced to end things. He knew she had held on much longer than she had appeared to. If his confrontation with Adam had caused so much emotion in her, he could only imagine how she would feel when she found out he was screwing around with her friend. Maybe she would react like Ruzek had.
Jay didn’t see any emotions filter across her face. Just the furrow of her eyebrows scrunched together. “Yeah, I know.” Her simple statement makes his frustration rise and he isn’t sure why.
“You know?” He repeats searching her warm brown eyes, “For how long?” Kim hums in thought pressing her lips together.
“Um, the last few weeks, maybe a month.” Her smile turns rye and there is a slight shake of her head as she plays with the ends of the blanket on her lap. “Adam isn’t as discreet as he thinks he is. You think he would have learned better by now.”
“And it doesn’t bother you?” His tone is low and thick with an emotion she can’t quite name. Kim tries to figure out why he is so upset. Was it the fact that Hailey hadn’t told him or maybe the comments Adam had made after finding out they were together and then subsequently doing the same thing he had shamed them for?
“No, why would it?” Jay crosses his arms across his chest. The change in demeanor catches Kim’s notice. It wasn’t like Jay to beat around the bush and it was slightly off-putting trying to guess what he was thinking.
“Well, you were mad at me for a few days after I punched Adam.” Kim’s mouth parts in the realization of what Jay had been getting at. And the emotion that she hadn’t been able to place- jealousy. The miscommunication of what had happened the night Jay had decked Adam for his out-of-pocket comment. Kim throws the blanket off her lap and closes the distance between them.
“Jay I wasn’t mad at you,” He scoffed giving her a disbelieving look, “I wasn’t. Hey, Jay listen to me. Adam deserved what he got. Honestly, I was impressed you lasted as long as you did, to be honest. The comments were getting to me too.”
“Then why were you-?” Kim sighs stalling her hands that were absently rubbing up and down his arms. Her gaze fell to their feet guiltily. Voight had been pissed about what she had done but he had kept it quiet. Nobody had found out that she had lied and then hidden the fact that Kendra had been a witness to try to save herself at the expense of the case. Kim hadn’t told Jay because she had been so ashamed and hadn’t wanted Jay to think less of her or her ability to do her job.
“The ride along,” She huffed out a sigh, “I lied about Kendra being in the car. I knew she might have witnessed the shooting. Voight threatened to bury me if I ever did anything like that again. I know I deserved it-but it was hard to hear.” Kim swallowed hard. She still hadn’t come to terms with her stupid decision yet. “I wasn’t mad at you. I was mad at myself- and embarrassed, ashamed, and I felt guilty.” Tears burned at the back of her eyes as she blinked forcing them away. “I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to think of me differently. That I wasn’t a good cop.”
“Baby,” His voice was soft, and he cupped her jaw forcing her head up. Her watery brown eyes meet his. “I don’t think that. Mistakes are part of the job. It happens and it will again. That is why you have to rely on your team. Rely on me.” He wipes away the tear that drips down her cheek with his calloused thumb.
“You don’t have anything to worry about, ya know.” She turns her head to kiss his palm, her brown eyes locked with his blue ones. “I love you, Jay.” His posture instantly relaxes the tension melting from his body. The words that had been stuck in his throat for months slipped so easily from her lips. It lights his chest with a pleasant warmth a smile taking over his face.
“I love you too, Kim.”
Does Lestat have borderline personality disorder?
Tumblr media
I am convinced Sam Reid’s Lestat has BPD—and I say this as a bisexual with BPD myself who loves and identifies with this crazy babygirl. While reading the books, I thought he was more likely to have bipolar because his highs and lows last for months/years, but in the show he has like EVERY common symptom of BPD (some of these I copy directly off of Mayo Clinic):
1. Mood-swings or little control over emotions, lasting from moment to moment or for hours/days.
2. Inappropriate, intense anger, such as frequently losing your temper, being sarcastic or bitter, or having physical fights.
3. A pattern of intense, unstable relationships.
4. Intense fear of abandonment.
5. Suicidal threats or behavior or self-injury, often in response to fear of separation or rejection. (Lestat threatens to set himself on fire—one of the few means of vampire suicide—when he feels like Louis is rejecting him/choosing Claudia over him. Also, in the books, Lestat frequently considers and eventually attempts suicide.)
6. Impulsive and risky behavior.
7. Rapid changes in self-identity and self-image. (We haven’t seen this as much in the show, but in the books Lestat loves, adores, and worships himself but, at the same time, loathes himself and feels unworthy of love. And Sam Reid mentioned this too: Lestat is a narcissist but, at the same time, has a lot of suppressed self-hatred.)
8. Ongoing feelings of emptiness. (Again you get this more in the books, with Lestat being depressed and feeling like the world is meaningless.)
Also want to note, in episode 1, Lestat says he “inherited his father’s tempter,” and people are often more likely to have a mental disorder if their parents have it too. I do think Lestat’s symptoms and behavior are very affected by the trauma he has been through and possible PTSD, on top of BPD or another mental disorder or mood disorder.... What are your thoughts?
