I'll tell you something. DBH would have been an interesting game if it was focused on Markus and Connor, being pitted against each other, one for the revolution, the other against it and depending on your choices, they either end up together, one dies while the other survives or they both perish together.

Basically, it's dbh but rewritten with Markus and Connor in a romeo/juliet-eque, enemies to lovers dynamic.

Turned away from the bathroom mirror, Connor cautiously slipped his injured arm into the sleeve of his dress shirt. Crisp bandages disappeared beneath the fresh-pressed white, and he moved with slow, deliberate care to fasten the twin buttons at the cuff. The sensation of the relatively formfitting fabric over the wound was… uncomfortable, but Connor refused to give it pause.

Seven buttons down the front of his shirt were the next obstacle that stood in his way. Stress was low, and his self repair protocols had taken the edge off the widespread, prickling numbness that allowing himself to overheat had wrought. Nonetheless, Connor’s fine motor control had only decalibrated further as a result of the night’s events—and he needed desperately to correct the margin of error.

Buttons would have to do. A sample size of seven wasn’t much, and his hands still shook, but Connor was grateful for the input regardless. The still-lingering tension in his chest eased a bit as knotting his tie required less effort than anticipated.

Then, with his jacket smooth and settled over his shoulders—and his attention deliberately routed away from the added weight on his arm—Connor finally faced the mirror. He didn’t want to look, but he had to verify that his appearance was presentable. And he welcomed the stark contrast to how disheveled he had been the last time he’d stood here in uniform.

That said, Connor still wasn’t reassured by what he saw. He met his own gaze, only to recoil, hardly able to tolerate it for more than a single, fleeting moment. There was a shadow beneath his eyes, darkening his irises, and they seemed to bore into him—judging, accusing, disdainful—from the far side of the glass. An illogical feeling, he knew, but he could do no more than look away, beset by simulated shame.

Connor was a machine. And machines weren’t supposed to feel. Emotion, real emotion, simply was not a part of his program. The anguish that sat heavy in his stomach, weighed down his limbs, made him flinch at the sight of himself was nothing. It was nothing. Nothing more than meaningless data, generated in error by the instability in his software. It carried no weight, no substance. It wasn’t real.

…So why wouldn’t his LED change back to blue?

Fixing Detroit Become Human

Let’s start with some of the optional changes, or changes that I don’t know for sure if I’d put in

Making the Androids less humanoid This could be interesting and does make more sense logically considering what we see Androids doing, though certain scenes would probably need to be changed or cut out entirely since many of them require the MCs being indistinguishable from Humans, and other than some cool body horror stuff like the junkyard and Zlatko's androids it doesn't really do much

Making it an alternate future Basically making it an Alternate History but in the Future, I think it’d be cool but I don’t know if it’d be necessary

Now let’s get to the stuff I’d definitely do

Setting it farther in the Future I feel like setting somewhere somewhere in the late 21st to early 22nd century would make more sense

Having the Public support meter actually mean something The fact that no humans help Markus and Jericho in their protests is incredibly unrealistic, even at its lowest there would still be people protesting!

Allow for more discussion of whether or not Androids being free would be a good thing There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to Robot and AI rights, and this game should acknowledge that

Tone down the references There are so many references to the Holocaust, Civil Rights Movement and Slavery to the point that it gets stupid, especially the Canada thing. Some references to these things is fine (like the symbols Markus found to get to Jericho) but using as many as there are to basically say that Android struggle is the exact same as minority struggle is… problematic to say the least.

Get rid of the Alice twist Do I need to say anything?

Have Androids be treated more like machines by society I can believe that public transportation and infrastructure would be modified for Androids, but it makes more sense for it to be even less concerned for Android comfort, like instead of the Android Compartment being at the back of the bus (goes back to what I was saying earlier) why not have it be outside of or under the bus? It makes it seem more cruel than just being separated from humans and not having seats.

Explain Deviancy more I’d go with this, compare Non Deviants to Infants and Deviancy to growing up. Maybe it could’ve been a bug but Cyberlife kept it in so people would buy more androids once their old one starts acting up.

Get rid of the stupid Cyberlife takeover revea,l I know not a lot of people know about it, but it’s still stupid

Have there already be an Android Revolutionary Movement before Markus shows up

I find it hard to believe Markus was the Only Android to think of the revolution, but you could still make him integral to it in some way, whether it be being a Leader or some sort of secret weapon (figuratively speaking)

Have there be conflict among the Android Revolutionaries

Have there be different factions within the revolution each with their own ideologies and methods that may conflict with each other. This could go back to what I said earlier, maybe Markus could be the glue that finally brings them all together

Have there be android related events outside of Detroit like... how the hell do Markus and the other residents of Jericho become the last deviants!?

considering Markus’ actions, I highly doubt that there weren’t some other bold androids willing to join in the Revolution

Have the game take place over a longer time span

There is no way Markus could accomplish his mission in a week

Have an Epilogue of each ending explaining how the world has changed

In the Good endings, explain how things have changed for Androids, have Humans and Androids started coexisting? Have the Androids gotten their own Nation?

No, I am not entitled to comments, but you also aren’t entitled to fanwork. I doubt I’ll ever stop posting my fanfic, but this can be so crushing and discouraging to see and experience. I understand why a lot of writers are leaving fandom or deciding not to post their stories. Screaming into the void and the void not screaming back is pretty disheartening.

Fandom is supposed to be a community. It used to be that way.

Stop it with your consumeristic view of fandom. Slow down a little. Give a writer a pat on the back, reblog that fanart, tell that gifmaker they did a good job. Ultimately, take a breath, take the time to enjoy yourself, and let others know their efforts are appreciated.

I logged back in to tumblr just to see ur thoughts on the Oblivion remake that's probably being revealed tomorrow. May I point out they're still using the imperial city guard as their stand-in for the self insert main character and idk that tickles me Youtube link /watch?v=Ed_E2crglcw

So I've been pretty out of the fucking loop and not on my dashboard much, so this ask plus the series of searches I just did to confirm it is the first I've heard that bethesda is almost definitely doing a fucking OBLIVION REMAKE LMAO.

There is still a part of me that's like 'ouugghhhh it might actually be really cool to see Oblivion made with better graphics and a more fleshed out world, even just visually.... perhaps they will even.... do some rewriting??!!?'. But I will be extremely shocked if Bethesda has gone an extra mile to improve the quest/story content, and genuinely the potato faces and stilted voice acting and 50% of the characters being voiced by Wes Johnson are SO fundamental to Oblivion's tone and experience it will probably feel like an entirely different game even if they keep all the quests and dialogue 1:1, and probably not for the better. Like Oblivion's quest writing Does have some legitimate high notes (mostly Shivering Isles and the first half of the DBH, and some standalones) but I think it gets wayyyyy too much credit for having good quests. While playing it you (maybe) let a lot of stuff go because the visuals and voice acting just put you into this dreamlike clown universe where it's like, yeah, I guess that can happen (and the tone itself really Is intentionally silly at times).

Like what's it going to be like to get to the end of a really feeble and badly written mages guild questline where you're finally confronting MANNIMARCO KING OF WORMS, WHO MANTLED THE NECROMANCERS MOON and etc and he DOESN'T fucking look like this

The questline probably won't be any better (unless they're actually rewriting shit, and even then probably won't be any better) AND you're denied the sight of its allegedly powerful and intimidating antagonist standing barefoot in a cave in a hot topic bathrobe. This will be my 9/11.

So this concept is everything that started the whole shebang ! I've been wanting to do a DBH and SPN crossover since 2020, and I've always imagined a rewrite of the Crypt Scene in Goodbye Stranger in the Detroit: Become Human universe with Naomi acting as a more agressive AI than Amanda in the game :3

Chapter 1: Superficial Hostage

Kara gasped and her eyes snapped open. The artificial reactivation shocked her system like cold hands on the back of one's neck. No, it was Connor's cold hands, and they had reconnected two fuses inside Kara's gut. He had knelt down beside her and now switched his attention from her entrails to her face. Kara jolted upright, panting. Her plastic stomach slid closed. She scooted back across the maple floorboards and hit a wooden table leg with a thud. Her head spun. A haze fizzed over her system. AO3

"Received?" Connor messaged. "Safe to comply," Markus notified.

“Connor!” Hank dropped to his knees in front of his android charge. Sidearm holstered, he reached out, hesitant. 

Still frozen, lifeless like a broken doll, Connor could only watch as Hank took one of his hands from where they rested in his lap. The sight seemed almost far away… nearly glowing under the weak midday sun. Even still, Connor could feel it as Hank’s warm, calloused palm squeezed his own—he could hear the Lieutenant’s elevated respiration, feel his anxious pulse through the contact in his palm—but he couldn’t react. Couldn’t reciprocate in any way.

Connor was fine, but the remaining seconds that he was powerless to prove it made something inside him hurt.

Gently, almost fearfully hesitant, Hank reached to Connor’s chin, tilting up his head. The sensation was a stark, cutting contradiction to the deviant’s forceful grip—and in a flutter of irrationality, Connor once again found himself verifying his anti-virus program’s readout. 

Still clear. Still nothing. 

He was alright. 

Connor’s vision rose, panning from the Lieutenant’s knees before his own, up to the man’s concerned, gray-framed face. Hank’s expression was pained, his voice tentative, “Can you hear me, son? You okay?” His gaze shifted slightly to Connor’s right, and the finger at his chin tilted his head to follow—Connor’s LED was still an angry, cycling red. 

“Shit, you still in there, Connor?” Hank asked with a bit more urgency. But then his gaze shifted away, and his hand gently lowered Connor’s head. His tone took on a more inward quality, “His LED’s still goin’, probably means he ain’t dead… the fuck did that deviant bastard do?” Careful, probing hands prodded at Connor’s sides, his arms, shoulders, his throat—barely brushing the data panel below his jaw—yet Hank found nothing amiss. “This is why I didn’t want you going off alone, you dumbass!”

Finally, after so many frustrating, powerless minutes, Connor began to regain physical functionality.

His breathing was the first to come back online. In a warmer setting, the influx of air would have been vital to cool his arrested biocomponents—but as his synthetic lungs expanded, Connor was met with the frigid rush of Detroit winter. Some basic, hard-coded instinct sent a violent shiver juddering through him, and Connor’s eyes squinted shut before he realized he’d even regained the ability to blink. He wheezed again, exhaling harshly as if the next breath would not come just as cold. 

“Connor!” Hank gasped, moving to grip the android’s shoulders. “Hang on kid, hang on. I’ve gotcha.”

Though the shivers persisted, each tremor was more fluid—more lifelike—than the last. And before long, Connor was able to perform simple movements of his own volition. With meticulous focus, he strung a sequence of actions together, then executed. First, Connor reached for the Lieutenant’s wrist and grasped it lightly. He slowly shook his head. Then Connor opened his mouth, activated his vocal synthesizer, and whispered, “I’m okay.” 

Yet he sounded anything but. Connor’s voice had come out small, rattled, afraid. He hadn’t queued an emulated well of emotion, hadn’t plotted the expression he could feel furrowing his brows. Androids weren’t supposed to—

“Like hell you are! What the hell happened? What’d that fucker do to you?” Hank’s tone was rough now that the imminent danger had passed, but the sharpest edges had been sanded smooth by relief. Connor couldn’t help but think back to the echo of Hank’s anger—his fear that he might lose…

Connor blinked, then jerked his hand away from Hank’s arm. He tried to right himself, but only managed to sway in Hank’s persistent grasp. The danger had passed, but— “The deviant—” Connor pressed, eyes wide, “It can’t have gotten far. I can track its progress through the cameras from here—” 

“Woah, woah, woah, hold it,” Hank rumbled, biting back a curse as Connor nearly slumped further to the ground. “I’m not going anywhere until I’m sure you��re actually okay. And not just saying it. Why’re you moving like a drunk bag of rocks?”

Due to a kid calling 911 Hank and Connor were sent on a wellness check. "Why do I always get stuck with these kind of cases?" Connor knocked on the door. A kid opened it. "Hey," Connor kneeled down to the child's eye level. "Where are your parents?"

The door was ripped open. "Don't talk to them! What do you want?" Connor stood up as fast as he could. Backing away from the door. "There were some break ins in the neighbourhood. We're just checking if you might have heard something?" Hank said trying to calm the situation.

"No, we didn't hear anything. Sorry to waste your time detective," before Hank or Connor could answer the door closed. Connor's LED was spinning and turned yellow. "Don't give me that look." Hank made his way to the car. Connor followed close behind.

Connor couldn't stop thinking about the wellness check and that something felt off. There were no obvious signs of abuse. The android couldn't decipher or understand why he kept thinking about it. Until it all fell in place.

Connor had been given the assignment to look through some old missing cases. In one of them he'd found the child from the wellness check. Granted the photo was a couple of years old but still. Connor showed what he found to Hank. "Don't tell me that's what I think it is?"

Connor nodded. "Shit!" Hank got some back up stationed nearby if things go south. Hank knocked on the door again. Connor was analysing all possible situations that could happen. Ones where either he or Hank would have to lay their lives down for the safety of the kid.

That didn't happen as the suspect was apprehended and the kid sent to be reunited with their family. The problem being they had no family left. They were put in a group home. One that Connor would visit everyday after work. You two became quite close and you saw Connor as an older brother. He would always say he was one call away.

Just read up!!!! I absolutely love it so far, actually inspires me to get back to writing dbh agere content. As that’s what I first did! I started my own chaptered fic “honest comfort” back in 2018. I’ve always thought of maybe rewriting it or starting a new series. I love reading new fics!! And I defo defo recommend this one as I’m enjoying it a lot so far :)

yeah, i can see the crush thing(one sided or not) happening to her since Markus was the only one (that we're aware of in the game) close enough to her that she can possibly reveal her past to us. For the simkus shippers, i have that pet peeve as well and also for SOME of them reverse it and make Markus the 'big strong man' and Simon 'the one that needs to be protected 24/7 cuz he's baby'. like no, Simon may be timid and shit but he is willing to kill if mandatory, wield LITERAL guns, and was the one of the androids keeping Jericho semi stable for god knows how long😭. i dont have a problem with that ship either tho(lowkey forgot t mention but i dont hate norkus), i like it but just sometimes it can be much and it just annoys me a bit on how there can be so much mischaracterization

also, I DID NOT KNOW JOSH HAD SOME BACKSTORY🧍���♀️Now i wanna know why he's such a pacifist if he got attacked by drunk students. Is he a pacifist cuz violence reminds him too much of what happened? Canonically, we'll never know.

IMO: I don't hate North. I understand that violence is her coping method / defense mechanism because all her time being active, she's been used for nothing but sex. It would make sense for her to hate humans and why she acts the way she is because that's what she was exposed to. She was made and used for sex and nobody would ever want to go through that shit. Violence is what she turns to since no human she has ever met before has showed her any kindness or respect. North's character is really interesting to get into but I don't see a lot of people who are willing to do a deep analysis on her character without a biased view(from the feed i get). I like exploring these topics about characters and I wish the game were to actually make her stay just a platonic companion and have her own importance instead of just being love interest devoted to Markus. Realistically, she would definitely not get herself into any relationship anytime soon and would definitely need a lot of time to heal. If I wanted to change anything about her, I would rather have her be Markus' bestie since they can both balance each other out in their perspectives on humans and to consider both sides. Although it definitely would be hard to convince her, she's still willing to listen at least.

tl:dr - i like north and i wouldve wanted her and markus to stay just friends

RK1K Rewrite of DBH Ideas

So, I honestly think that it would have been cool if DBH was originally focused on Connor and Markus, one being the head of the revolution and the other set out to destroy it and depending on your choices, it either ends with Connor and Markus together, Markus dead, Connor dead or both of them dead.

Here's my idea for this rewrite.

Markus and Connor's stories are more intertwined. Instead of meeting later in the game, they meet earlier, and each time ends in an altercation. Connor never wins in these altercations against Markus. Their purpose is to allow Markus and Connor to converse and each dialogue option will either strengthen their relationship or destroy it. Ex. Depending on Connor's choices, his software instability will either go up or down (which will play a major part in the endgame). On Markus' end, Connor's answers will affect Markus' view of Connor. If the answers are good, Markus will believe there is a chance Connor can be turned but if the answers are bad, Markus' opinion will drop lower and lower until he is convinced that Connor cannot be saved and needs to be destroyed.

Connor will still come across deviants in his own story like in the original game and again, the software instability will be affected depending on his choices. The difference being that these kills will someway find their way to Markus, which will again affect Markus' opinion of Connor.

If all the right choices are made in Connor and Markus' dialogue, with them getting to know each other more, romantic feelings will start to develop from both parties.

Jericho's opinion of Markus will also play a factor in their relationship as well. If Connor says the right things to Markus but kills deviants, Jericho's relationship with Markus will fall because they will be angry at Markus for continuing to believe in Connor while he is killing their kind. (like in the game, if their relationship becomes too low, Markus will be kicked out)

Connor will still infiltrate Jericho and the following options will happen: 1. If their relationship is high, Markus will try to convince Connor to become a deviant. If Connor's software instability is high enough, he will be able to 2. If their relationship is too low, there will be no attempt from Markus to turn Connor deviant and they will just fight 3. If Markus is gone and North is there, again, there will be no attempt to turn Connor deviant because North will believe there is no hope.

If Connor turns deviant, he will, like in the game, attempt to infiltrate Cyberlife. Since their relationship is positive (and there will be romantic feelings at this point), Markus will go with Connor. Markus pretends to hand himself over with Connor bringing him in and they successfully infiltrate the warehouse (they can also be killed if they choose the wrong options/mess up qte's) Sixty does show up, fighting them both until the mix-up happens and Markus has to figure which Connor is which. Depending on the answers, Connor will say something personal to Markus, deepening their romantic feelings or Connor will screw up and Markus will kill him.

If the right choices are made, Connor and Markus will return with the android army, ready to fight.

Perkins will still offer his deal to Markus for he and Connor to run away together. Connor isn't against the deal like North is but like the game, if it's chosen, Perkins kills Markus.

If Connor is a deviant, on the battlefield, Amanda will successfully take control of Connor (there are no options to fight it yet) and a fight will ensue between Connor and Markus. Eventually Connor will come out on top but before he can deliver the finishing blow, Markus will make one more heartfelt plea for Connor to come back to him. It's then that you will be able to fight back against Amanda's control. If you succeed, Connor will be freed. If you fail, you have three options 1. Connor can choose to kill himself to spare Markus 2. Similar to when they fight on the battlefield, the option will appear to choose either Connor or Markus. If Connor is chosen, Markus dies and vice versa.

The battle keeps going until Markus, Jericrew and Connor are backed against a wall, like in the game. There will be the same four options. - If kiss is chosen, in his final moments, Markus wants Connor to know how he feels and will kiss him. - Sacrifice, sing and dirty bomb will be how they are in game

If sing is chosen, Markus and Connor will have another chance to kiss on stage after Markus delivers his speech and that will be last cutscene in the game.

Ok so these are all of my ideas. I won't lie, I don't remember the game 100% so if there are some plots holes please excuse them. It isn't meant to be accurate but more of a what if.
