...and then before you can even get that paperwork in, watching some spn trivia/theory videos and randomly finding a magic amulet that was used one time in a Monster-Of-The-Week episode several years ago, an episode that was pretty famously crappy/nonsense... and recognizing it as being the exact spell component you need.

And then like, getting an actual rush of happiness/hope from ANY of this.

S2 E11 Playthings - A classic, creepy girls in a creepy hotel. Special call out to Sam getting SLOPPY

S2 E16 Roadkill - There's a ghost haunting the highway. the Boys help the spirit move on. This is an early example of monster empathy

S2 E18 Hollywood Babylon - Dean loves hollywood. I love dean. this episode makes me kick my feet like a little girl and i will not defend myself.

S2 EP 20 What Was Shall Never Be - all I have in my notes for this one is "Dean Djinn Dream" which was enough for me to remember the episode and get misty eyes. This is SEASON 2 my son will never know peace.

S3 E5 Bedtime Stories -I had to check the wiki on this one, I think i liked it cause it referenced classic fairytales

S4 E18 The Monster at the End of the Book - There are books about Sam and Dean?! Written by this guy who loves self insert character? Surely the entire show isn't about to take a tone shift?

S5 E3 Free to be You and Me - Sam and Dean are fighting again, but this time Dean has a new heavenly boy toy to play with instead. (Cas has no rizz yet it's actually a little painful to watch)

S9 E15 #thinman - the slender episode feat. GHOSTFACERS. You come away from this episode thinking "supernatural is so fucking gay why wont the boys kiss"

S9 E21 King of the Damned - my favorite crowley era change my mind. Also the way the Boys interrogate an angel is so funny

S10 E5 Fan Fiction - I would unironically fuck w a supernatural musical and if helluva/hazbin taught me anything the rest of you would too

S10 E6 Ask Jeeves - The Clue episode. (Pay attention to the improvised weapons Dean chooses. It brings me joy)

S10 E9 The Things we Left Behind - Cas is suffering a midlife crisis and his besties are there to help him repair his relationship with his daughter. Funnily enough, Crowley is also getting some family bonding in.

The reality of things is that we will never experience the level of trauma that Dean Winchester experiences. But we all feel that same sense of slogging through endless events after endless events. We all (Dean Kinnies) feel like nothing is changing, we're staying the same in a way but we're being battered down by the waves of our lives. You get dunked under, and your world spins around you. And then you resurface, maybe with water in your lungs, maybe just instinctually gasping in air while it's still available. We change, but at our core, we are the same. Still care too much, still fight for the right thing. But it just feels like wave after wave after wave knocks you off your feet. You keep surfacing but you wonder if there's even any air left in your lungs. You wonder how long you can do this for. You wonder if the next wave is gonna be the one to end it all.

This is a more general question, but who is your favorite Winchester and turtle brother? Do you feel like there is a connection between the two?

Of course I love them all (and could probably write whole ass essays analyzing each one) but if I have to pick I’d say Sam and Leo. Sams demon blood arc permanently altered my brain as a kid and I’m also a giant Leo kinnie because he’s so fruity <3

I don’t think there’s any connection between them. Tbh Leo is more like Dean because they both say the stupidest things all the time LMAO

You really can’t appreciate The Hunger Games when you read it at a young age. Like yes I was obsessed with these books when I was younger but, when I first read them, I was younger than Prim. These characters felt like adults to me. But now, re-reading the book when I’m not only older than Prim but older than the reaping age…it puts the series into a perspective that you never see when your younger.

something something the Sheer Unimaginable Irony of seeing my studies of folklore as Dean Winchester RP-adjacent/ "hunting", getting accepted to present on SPN & Beowulf at a major conference, anticipating the presentation as though it were a rly important hunt, getting kinfeels from it for three months and then, the week before the conference, massively injuring my mid-lower back*.

I really care about Dean Winchester, but I do think it's a disservice to both him and victims of abuse to honestly think he did nothing wrong. Like he's a wonderful problematic favourite who was nixed from development by writers justifying his actions. But I think being critical of his behavior towards women and loved ones is important given the lack of weight the narrative gives it.
