In lieu of doing Camp NaNo "properly," I have instead opted to set up a series of milestones with deadlines on Deathdancer so I can dive into the fresh re-write. Some of these may have to move weeks because I'm not positive how long/short they'll take, but that's fine. However it plays out, the ultimate goal is to start properly writing this draft :-)

April 1-7:

Finish fresh read-through and my comments

April 8-14:

Consolidate other comments (writers group, etc.)

Organize notes/comments (characters, areas, plot-points, foreshadowing, themes, etc.) so I know where stuff is and what is needed

Boil it down into key things moving forward

April 15-21:

Update plotline (including where I’m adding/cutting/combining/splitting/etc. scenes and whatnot)

Set up new draft document (with comments linked to everything and whatnot)

April 22-30:

Write! :-)

Not-Six Sentence Not-Sunday

I'm tagged by @spiced-wine-fic to share a wip of mine. Thank you for the tag! And I'm sorry I didn't answer immediately. I didn't know I was tagged and it's not sunday whoops 😅 this scene is part of a character study short story project I'm working on, when I take the ocs of my o-fic and put them in different scenarios in order to understand them, how will they react in such situations. I hope my english prose is passable.

Dinfael stared into her reflection in the mirror. Her fingers traced the knife scars drawn on her naked body, the pain still stung her skin.

Once again she gave in to her desire, letting herself be possessed by the tendrils of Valamorne's cruel pleasure. Ignored her goddess' scream inside her mind.

But how could she resist, for her body always answered to the call of blissful pain?

Dinfael faced her backside to the mirror, then turned her head to see.

No, no, no. It can't be.

The scar carved on the small of her back glowed an ominous purple light. She recognized the shape.

Valamorne had put a banishing spell on her goddess.

She knew, and she had played her like strings on a harp.

The storm of anger rose. Her eyes pierced the mirror, and it was no longer her reflection staring back at her, but Valamorne's wicked golden eyes.

God this is the first time I actually show my writing wip to someone other than my rl friends I'm nervous haha 😅 I hope it's fine enough.

dunno why it took me so long to come up with this but all this time I've been lamenting the fact that I couldn't think of a cute shipname for (tav!)aune and astarion that sounded unique enough. now that I'm writing about them, it's been at the forefront of my mind and deathdance just beamed into my head. I'm really fond of it as a series title for all the tav!aune fics because one of the translations for her name is literally deathdance. [much of her journey revolves around the proximity death has had in her life and her struggle to reach for life in spite of it; how to respect both forces and embody them in her magic and her faith. drowic language synonymizes life with dance which is neat af]

death works as a representation of astarion, and dance works for aune as an eilistraeean of course. YAY

also I have imagined on many occassions that they would absolutely be the type of people to dance in a cemetery with no music playing like the goth freaks that they are, so. that also is a thing. now I'm thinking about how both of their respective journeys have them experiencing figurative deaths, or rather they've been dead all along and it takes something drastic to shake them up. crawling their way out of the dirt, tearing down their oppressors, dancing on their graves, dancing on the graves of their dead selves, dancing towards life—
