We were all beginners once: Taking the Leap into Events

As I stood at the finish line of the triathlon, watching athletes of all shapes and sizes cross the line, feeling incredible proud of every single one of them. I couldn't help but think back to my own humble beginnings. I've been part of the events team for today’s triathlon, but it was on the other side of the fence as a participant of my first event that I truly discovered my journey and love of events.

Do we ever remember our first event? The one where we felt like an imposter, stepping out of our comfort zone and onto the start line? I do. I remember feeling nervous, like everyone else was a pro and I was just a newbie trying to keep up. But that's exactly what it is – a feeling. A feeling that we all have to overcome if we want to take the leap into events.

As beginners, we often put too much pressure on ourselves. We worry about not being good enough, about not being fast enough, about not being strong enough. But the truth is, we're all in this together. We're all starting from scratch, and we're all learning as we go.

So, what's the key to taking the leap? It's simple: just show up. Don't worry about what others think, don't worry about what you're capable of, just show up and give it a go. You'll be surprised at how far you can push yourself, and how much you can achieve.

And when you do finally take the leap, and you cross that finish line, you'll feel an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment. You'll realize that you're capable of so much more than you ever thought possible, and you'll be hooked. You'll be hooked on the rush of adrenaline, the sense of community, and the feeling of pushing yourself to new heights.

So, to all the beginners out there, I say this: take the leap. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and onto the start line. You never know what you're capable of until you try. And who knows, you might just find a new passion in life.
