So, I'm gonna preface this ask by saying: the beautiful Pony!Calamity Trio art you did on the Amphibia shared-canvas-thing got me thinking A LOT about the finer details of the Trio as Ponies–

That being said, after spending far too long pondering the subject myself, I'm curious— do you have any ideas for what the Trio's names would be as Ponies?

thank you!! they were fun to design! i have colored fullbodies of their show-age designs in the works too (sasha’s is done, marcy’s is lined, anne’s is sketched), so i wanted to try out rough concepts for their future designs as well. i’m sure i’ll make fullbody refs for their timeskip designs too at some point, though these are just kind of a “whenever i feel like it” project more than something actually on my to-do list, so not sure when that’ll be. i HAVE to make a darcy design too tho, it just sounds like the coolest thing ever.

the designs were mostly just for fun, so i don’t have a lot of the details figured out about the au as a whole, except that their species were chosen to align the “hierarchy” of their respective amphibians with the “hierarchy” of the pony species. plus they just fit the vibes this way.

it seems like it would be pretty similar to the show, honestly. they would still look just as weird to the amphibians as they did as humans, and the plot and character arcs wouldn’t change much from thinking off the top of my head. andrias’ desire for human tech would be a moot point because ponies don’t rely on tech of the same kind/the same way, but that’s not to say he wouldn’t absolutely find use of the ponies’ magic, especially if he found a way to harness it. i can see him really being intrigued by it after befriending marcy and seeing the power she holds in her horn even while possessed by the core (especially since unicorn marcy is likely to be incredibly gifted in magic)

i don’t think anne would gain her wings and horn when using her partial powers throughout tc and s3, but i think it makes sense/would be cool for the calamity powers to grant all three of them temporary alicorn status when fully activated. “the powers must stack when used in tandem! classic synergy buff” as marcy would put it. but the power isn’t everything, of course, and anne’s heart and sacrifice are still the factors that ultimately win the war for them.

as for names, i’ve thought some about it but haven’t really gotten to any definitive conclusions. their warrior cat names came to me pretty instinctively but pony names feel much harder 😭

it would be really cool if each of them had something tying back their calamity trait ingrained in their names from the start, tying them to the prophecy long before they became remotely aware of it, but i’m not sure what words would make the names still sound natural and not obvious. ofc the prophecy’s not the only substantial thing about them and shouldn’t define them, it’s just cool in a “woooaahh it’s always been our destiny” kind of way. but not sold on it bc i can’t come up with any particular ideas lmao, plus i was already planning on incorporating the “three stars” part of it into each of their cutie marks so it’s not a concept i’ll likely likely end up sticking with. but as for specific thoughts for each girl, here’s where i’m at:

• i can see the “bright” from waybright being used as part of sasha’s name, and can see it suiting her. i feel like a fiery, warm, powerful feeling to her name in general suits her really well, both pre and post-redemption. she’s a protector at heart, it just takes her a while to learn to do it right, and that feels like it should reflect in her name. bright, wing, ember, blaze, flame, spark, etc. are all words i’ve considered for her, just haven’t settled on anything that really feels like her yet even though she’s the one i have the most ideas for

• anne is transfem to me in every universe, so her name needs to feel to me like something she would pick herself. pretty and feminine but not dainty. maybe floral. Lilypad Lotus is where i’m leaning. lotus like in my warrior name for her ties her back to her thai culture again which i’m also all for, and it just really suits her. i can also see her liking lilypad as part of her name, chosen before amphibia just because she thought it was pretty. her being kind of inexplicably drawn to it, only for the tangential relation to frogs to become such a massive part of her identity later. her “first name” being her own like in the show with her “last name” still being hers but also a draw back to her heritage, which would no doubt be different as a pony, but still could parallel the thai culture as much as possible

• marcy on the other hand has me completely stuck. she feels like she should be easy, but she isn’t. her character is too big to simplify her name down to her hobbies and interests like some pony names. the principles i used choosing her warrior name don’t really align here, because her warrior name is sparrowflight but she’s not a pegasus, so it doesn’t feel correct. i’d like some option where she can keep her plethora of nicknames (mar-mar, marbles, marshmallow, etc. having marble in her name somewhere might even be good), because that way she’d also have some tie back to her human name like if we were to use bright and lotus. some sort of name highlighting her intelligence feels right (i would probably say “bright” if it didn’t feel more right to give that to sasha), but it’s also not her only characteristic and shouldn’t be treated like all she’s good for, so it would have to be a healthy combination. a name highlighting her energy and hyperactivity as well makes sense pre-amphibia, but she definitely mellows out a lot after, so it would still need to be flexible enough to still feel like marcy at every period in her life. she’s still excitable and bouncy (eventually), but she’s an artist— she does Not have that kind of energy anymore 💀 we don’t know how connected to her culture she is, but we know she’s canonically fluent in mandarin at the very least, so there’s definitely a case to be made for choosing a taiwanese/chinese-inspired name somewhere in hers too, though i wouldn’t have any ideas without doing some more research first. and the whole thing gets even MORE complicated when you realize her name has to easily change to something else to become darcy’s name. there’s so many angles you could take marcy’s name in that there really doesn’t feel like an obvious answer

i’m definitely open to name suggestions for all three and cutie mark ideas for marcy and sasha (i already have one for anne. vague idea for sasha that i may just need to develop more, but once again stuck on marcy) if anyone has other ideas! i have a lot of fun making crossovers like this so i’m happy to receive more potential inspiration lmao

Roman walked into the fashion designer area of the arena, the scent of fabric and fresh thread wafting through the air. And was filled with sketches, vibrant fabrics, and the busy hum of sewing machines. He strolled deeper into the room, scanning the designs, when his eyes landed on Pudding, bent over her work table, focused intently on a pair of ring gear pants.

“Hey, Pudding!” he called out, a smile spreading across his face.

Her head shot up, and she beamed at him, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “Roman! Just finishing up your gear.”

As he stepped closer, he noticed the meticulous details, and the way she effortlessly blended style with comfort. “Looks amazing.

“Thanks! I try to make it reflect your personality,” she replied, a hint of pride in her voice. “I think these pants are going to look great in the ring.”

Roman tilted his head, admiring her work. “And what about my gloves?”

“Right here!” Pudding lifted another piece from a nearby table, showcasing the gloves adorned with intricate designs.

“Perfect, I can’t wait to show them off,” he said, his tone playful. “

She blushed slightly, clearly pleased. As she rummaged through a nearby rack, she pulled out one of the new oct shirts and held it up. “And I’ve got your new oct shirt ready too. I think you’ll love the way it looks under the lights.”

Roman took the shirt from her hands, running his fingers over the vibrant fabric. “You’ve outdone yourself again, Pudding. He said sincerely.

Pudding smile. “I’m glad you like it! I just want you to feel your best in the ring.”

He stepped closer, eyes sparkling with gratitude. “With you behind my gear, I can’t lose.

She laughed, her shyness momentarily forgotten.

“I owe you dinner after this!”he said, winking at her.

“Oh, come on!” Pudding exclaimed, a playful smile dancing on her lips. “I'm just doing my job”

Roman grinned, “Well, you’re doing a great job!”

“Thanks!” Pudding replied.

“I’ve got to run, but I'll see you after the show,” Roman said as he made his way to his locker room.

Roman, Solo, Jey, Jimmy, Sami, and Paul they strolled through the backstage area of the arena, the vibe was relaxed yet buzzing with post-show energy. Paul, ever the busy man, suddenly pulled out his phone. "I gotta talk to Hunter. I’ll catch you guys later," he said with a quick wave, making his way toward Triple H.

Roman, Solo, Jey, Jimmy, and Sami—continued down the dimly lit corridor, where the sound of distant chatter and clanging equipment echoed. Jey broke the silence, glancing over at everyone, "Man, I’m starving."

Jimmy chimed in, "Same here."

“I saw this burger spot nearby that looked amazing,” Sami replied, his eyes lighting up with the thought of juicy patties and melted cheese.

"That sounds good," Jimmy nodded enthusiastically.

Jey grinned, "I could definitely go for a burger," and turned to Solo, who simply nodded in agreement.

As they reached their locker room, Jey turned to Roman. “What about you, Uso?”

Roman shrugged, grabbing his bag off the bench. “Nah, I’m just gonna head back to the hotel and call it a day. I’ll see y’all later,” he said, adjusting his shoulder bag.

With that, he made he walks out of the locker room and made his way toward the exit, leaving the others behind, still buzzing with plans for food.

Roman stepped outside, the cool night air hitting his face like a refreshing breeze. As he walked toward the parking lot, he spotted Pudding leaning against a wall, her head down as she fiddled with her phone.

“Hey, Pudding!” he called out, waving enthusiastically.

She looked up, her face lighting up at the sight of him. “Roman!” she replied, putting her phone away. “You were incredible tonight!”

“Thanks you,” he grinned. “Need a ride to the hotel?”

“I don’t want to impose. I can manage,” she replied, brushing off the offer, though her eyes sparkled with appreciation.

“Come on, it’s no trouble at all,” he insisted. “You’re not imposing. Let’s just go!”

With a reluctant smile, she nodded. “Okay, I guess I could use a lift.”

Roman smiled and grabbed Pudding’s bag and headed toward his car, a sleek black SUV parked nearby. He opened the passenger door, gesturing for Pudding to hop in.

As Pudding settled in, Roman tossed the bag in the backseat before sliding into the driver’s seat. “Comfortable?” he asked, already starting the engine, the hum of the car blending with the distant sounds of the lively city.

“Yeah,” Pudding replied, her voice above a whisper.

page 1. these sketches here were intended to be my testers for sun. how i wanted her to look and be shaped. i settled on a mix between all of them. just the parts i liked about each of these drafts.

page 2. “sunpaw.” “sunkit.” “- quiet, - observant.” “parents: jasminenose & riverleap.” this is the mc i designed for this run. she’s got some special snowflake vibes not even gonna lie, but i adore her terribly so regardless. she’s a bit nervous when it comes to speaking her mind, but she still seems to wear her heart clear as day in her actions. she's the second oldest of the bunch, though it's easy to mistake her for being the eldest. sun feels responsible for her siblings and makes great effort to make sure they're all taken care of. especially since her mother, riverleap, seems to keep her own distance from the kits.

page 3. “antlerpaw.” “- cowardly, -oddly resourceful, -gentle voice.” “i’m not fragile!” “parents: jasminenose & riverleap.” antler is sun's younger sister, the siblings were all born from the same litter but the antler is the second youngest. in comparison to sun, she is much much more shy. very reserved. and extremely clingy when it comes to her siblings. especially sun, who always was the one to stick up for her whenever the time called for it. she's a bit of a worry wort but she means well, and very much loves her family with all her heart.

page 4. "roarpaw." "-childish, - tracker instincts, - oddly resourceful." "parents: jasminenose & riverleap." "newest healer here! out of my way!" "allow me to heal you!" "[in unison] i'd rather die,,," the oldest of the sibs, roar has always had the biggest personality. i'm not sure if it was just up to the game, but roar was just the annoying older brother that every cast of sibs has. his bombastic attitude tends to get under sun's skin easily, and it tires both of the youngers out quickly. though despite all that, he yearns for praise from his parents. especially jasminenose , who he tried very much to "subtly" hint at his desire to apprentice under her. which she definitely got the message after his fifth visit in one day.

page 5. "shadepaw." "-strict," "-won't sit still." "parents: jasminenose & riverleap." "pardon?" "why does no one listen to me?" the youngest, the grumpiest, and the most straight forwards out of the four sibs. shade has been most known to distance himself from all the trouble the other three get into. even as a kit he's been eager to stick to rules, and has always taken it especially hard when one doesn't stick to them. shade's fascination with rules and structure makes him a great role model for other cats to aspire to, and though it does look that way on the surface shade's had a long history with deep set anxieties that he's never been able to shake. rules and structure just feel good, since it allows him the relief of feeling like he's got a point of reference of how to do well.

I'm a believer in the character heights as listed on the wiki- Godot is 6'1 and Phoenix is 6'0. So they don't have much of a height difference, (edit: I can't read numbers lmao. Disregard this part) but my hcs are Godot's build is solid muscle, meanwhile Phoenix is entering his dad bod era

I drew his hair like that on purpose. Post-prison Diego with a 70s/80s rocker mullet, I think that would be very hot

Dahlia's poison caused him to develop focal vitiligo during the coma, which is why the hair on his scalp is white but the rest of his hair is not.

The metal plates on the sides of his face (in my sketch if it wasn't clear) are what keeps the visor in place when he's wearing it. They're attached directly to his skull.

He is severely vision impaired without the visor, so he needs other aids when not wearing it, but he rarely chooses to use them.

He drinks so much coffee not only because he enjoys it, but because the caffeine keeps his brain stimulated. Other caffeinated drinks make him nauseous so he sticks with coffee. It was a regular caffeine addiction pre-coma, but now he literally can't function without it and gets bad withdrawals if he doesn't have caffeine in his system 24/7. Prison was absolute hell for him because of this

Phoenix organized his defense and got him 5 years for voluntary manslaughter. In California, the sentence for voluntary manslaughter is up to 11 years. If it weren't for Phoenix he could've just as easily been found guilty of first or second degree murder, and gotten locked up for life. (I didn't look up the laws in Japan but let's just roll with that for now)

He finally learned to forgive himself for Mia's death, but now he carries the feelings of guilt for Misty's death, especially with how sympathetic Maya was towards him despite him killing her mother. Prison didn't help that, and he feels unworthy of all of Phoenix's efforts to support him

I think they would have an unlabeled but exclusive relationship. Like a qpr except neither of them know what a qpr is. It takes a long time for them to truly be comfortable around each other. Are they in love? Who knows? Not even they do. 💗

I really, really like how Godot turned out to be a sympathetic character in the end, despite being "The Killer" of 3-5. I enjoyed his character arc a lot

Anon, you are SO RIGHT! The Lilia x Silver vibes are super strong in this one! Although the other guy seems like a mix of Silver and Sebek lol but when it comes to his relationship with his lovely otokonoko vampire father figure, it’s definitely LiliSil. Yeah, I think it’s a common consensus that these guys are pretty much local Goths lol Not only in an alternative goth subculture way, but in a classical way too. Come on, we even have a LiliMal drawing titled “victorian goth boyfriends”…

Lilia looks especially good with anything goth-related. I can picture him listening to anything that is heavy, so gothic metal I guess.

I think Idia is a bit afraid of physical pain. He doesn’t like the Tweels’ or Lilia’s sharp teeth and probably gets anxious that they’re going to bite him whenever he sees them. But at the same time, I can picture him enjoying both this anxious feeling that he might or might not get bitten (since it’s an adrenalin rush) and this deep numbing pain when the initial shock of feeling sharp teeth goes away. When he starts to feel dizzy and the spot that was bitten feels a bit weird.

I kind of love Idia both as a masochist and as someone who is a huge chicken and doesn’t like pain at all lol

I also like the idea that Ortho sometimes bit him on accident in their childhood.

pain threshold is quite something. there are lots of instances of him telling you something painful feels good, or encourages you to do something that will hurt (both physically and emotionally). he also leads the finger on the eject button thought dialogue. My first playthrough I had FYS of 4 and I ended up dumping a ton of points in to PT cause I was fascinated by him. But I also had mega high volition cause I adored him too. they definitely did not have the same goals...

the first time I remember hearing from my personal PT, we were bowling and my wrist was really starting to hurt. and he was like, you should keep playing. thanks bro :/

Before I get into it Evangeline is Transfem. So Evangeline grew up in a small catholic town in Texas after her parents immigrated there from Europe. While growing up her parents would take her to church regularly, she would eventually be offered a position as an altar boy. Sadly she as well as other altar servers would get repeatedly assaulted by their pastor, and were all scared into silence. This would happen for years until high school where it would slowly stop. She would continue to go to church, though not with the same blind faith she had before. Once she got into college she met someone, Quinn. Quinn would be her biggest support through her days helping her with school work, meeting new people, working through the abuse she faced, and she ultimately helped Evangeline find herself. And as Quinn and Evangeline graduated they drifted apart. Quinn moved to France and Evangeline did idk yet, that’s all I have for her backstory 😅sorry.

Evangeline would definitely be considered a trickster. Similar to Loki, a God who messes with the other ones but cleans up the mess.

Having a good time, she’s kind of a live and let live person. I feel like she values privacy a lot, like if she doesn’t want to tell you something don’t ask.

What's the inspiration behind your listener's design?

When I first listened to her audio I ran with the whole mind fucking a priest idea so thats why religion is present in her backstory, as for how she looks Idk I was looking at old sketches in my sketches and one random doodle I did just gave her vibes and so I took it tweaked the design a bit and that was her.

Could you give me a vague concept of what your listener's visual vibe is?

The cool aunt you see only on holidays. She looks like a fashion model you see on their way to a shoot. Very alluring, very gorgeous, very mysterious, if that makes sense.  

What are some extra tidbits you wanna tell me about your listener?

Like I said before she’s transfem, she has a mole on the bridge of her nose and on her neck. I’m just excited to see your rendition of her.

LaVeau-gue - design #005 - Liege - Evangeline Gorvin - Dustts

Back at this series and bringing it around with a listener from my own series, Liege or better known this time as Evangeline Gorvin!

Design Notes

This design was definitely a treat to try my hand at and that's not just because it's a listener from my own series, it's mostly cuz I already have a speaker based on Loki and this was calling for me to do that task agai and reiteration is alway intriguing to me.

First off, my major considerations were that this design was based on Liege (a listener I already have many thoughts about), it was based on Loki, she was supposed to give christian autumn girl couture and I had to make her provocative. All of which are think that are up my alley.

Conceptually I actually had three previous iterations but while they had the dramatic flare, they lacked the mysterious edge that Liege is supposed to give so there was a lot of back nd forthing on how to arrange the elements I already set up into something I really liked.

When arranging said elements, I decided immediately that there had to be a large wide brimmed hat. Love me a good hat like that. Liege as a character and Evangeline both collectively gave me Carmen Sandiego vibes so you best believe I ran with that as a base to work from.

Mystery and edge always serves well with a dramatic coat and Carmen herself knew that so I learned from her and adapted it into this design.

Besides the base elements you proposed, I initially was going to follow with the christian autumn girl pallette that was spinning in my head but then after doing some more coloiur explorations, I found I liked the darker green that's become associated with loki against the brighter yellow (which comes from Liege's King in Yellow inspo). On top of that I used browns and oranges not only as autumnal colours but because I took inspo from foxes! The green lipstick is in part based on Marvel Comics' own loki but I'm also into DC so you can say she took it out of Poison Ivy's closet.

Anyways, I hope I did your concept some justice with this design, dustts!

Halloween in One Piece

Was blabbing at @schoute about Halloween in the OP Universe since she's doing some Halloween sketches for funsies! I'm working a little bit on a tiny One Piece haunted house AU thing (also for funsies) but this got me thinking of what would Halloween be like in the One Piece universe?

And I think it would be the most possible fun - different sections of the seas have their different traditions and takes on the thin veil holiday. Some traditions vary island to island. A lot of it depends on how much movement/intermingling there is between the locations so each of the four seas has an overarching set of traditions with variation based on island but the Grand Line is WILDLY different from place to place

Kids argue over which island to visit to get the best candy, young adults argue over which place has the craziest celebrations, and even full fledged adults try to argue which place's festivals are best. Those same kids arguing for candy also gripe about how lucky pirates and marines are to be able to hop down the shoreline or head to the lands with the biggest celebrations

Also love the idea that you may end up getting more than you bargained for or taken for a wild ride if you don't check the celebrations of the land you end up on during Halloween. Imagine a place with something similar to The Mari Lwyd, but for Halloween instead of Yuletide. You've settled at a new island and are all set to welcome some trick or treaters just like you loved at your old island. There's a knock at the door and you run over, bowl of candy in hand. The cloaked person with the horse skull is taller than you expected but maybe on this island it's normal for adults to trick or treat too, you're not one to judge. But then they start spouting riddles at you. You try to answer but they keep coming. You're accosted for quite some time, not knowing that giving them some liquor will send them away. (This happens to be a favored tradition of Shanks and he often tries to be in the area so he gets to be the dude who hassles people til liquor happens)

Also the rumors kids would have about the mythical goods and traditions on the Grand Line!!!!! "I hear there's a whole island where the dead come back for Halloween to steal the living back with them!" "That's nothing - I heard about a crazy giant lady with an island made completely out of candy, but if you fo there she'll just use it to fatten you up and eat you instead!" "No way that's real, you're a liar!!" "Nuh-UH my uncle's in the marines and he swears it's true!"

And since Schoute asked about costumes-

I bet it depends on the island/sea!! Some plaes are big into costumes and look at you funny without them while others only specific people wear them or maybe it's just masks or paint or veils. Some places are more like Carnival in Italy or have city wide masquerade, some are like gamelan parades or Surva (thank you @click-and-flash-pest-captures for telling me about the latter 🤍) to scare away evil spirits so only people performing would be in full costume. Some are like the US costume tradition where you dress up as whatever you want - there's trends of characters and vibes of costume (long live the unhinged slutty costumes 🙏🏻) but it doesn't necessarily have to be scary. Or maybe within the area of the seas that are like that, some islands its the scarier the better and you better not set a single foot on that island if you're not ready to have the piss scared outta you. Whole thing is basically one haunted house and used as a test of courage. Rumors always spread of what you win if you make it past all the scares and traps to the island's center, but they also say no one's ever actually made it.

Ok but also the brothels of port towns that there DEFINITELY are (you cannot convince me otherwise, there's too much money to be made doing that in this world) going HAM for Halloween to entice customers. More pious lands using that fact to prove that the holiday is for degenerates.

Also on that note - despite the Celestial Dragons and their ilk being the richest they'd have the WORST Halloweens cuz they wouldnt understand actual fun if it bit them in the ass. Who needs a city's worth of candy bars over the joy of dressing up and goofing off with your friends or taking your kids out or anything else you could imagine. Their Halloween is cold and sterile and materialistic. Boo to them - they wouldn't be able to handle even a single mischief night 😤

OML I would pay all the money to just have an episode of ASL participating in mischief knight or or or young Shanks and Buggy (who get caught by Rayleigh and brought to Roger, who only encourages them and teaches them better pranks and tricks. Little did they know that was Rayleigh's intention all along). Also with mischief night, none of that pumpkin smashing shit - our boys are better than that 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (maybe not some of the other ones tho. lookin at you, Kid)

Hi! I absolutely adore your art and I wanted to ask if you had any tips/advice on how to get lineart in facial expressions right? You always nail it and I struggle everytime even if the sketch looks good :')

Thank you so much! HM! This is tricky- and kind of two questions, so I’ll answer it in parts. I think getting the essence of a sketch across perfectly into lineart is impossible and I rarely manage it, even if the result looks good, it’s still USUALLY different. Often I don’t do a real sketch and it means my lineart is more lively, because it’s got the energy of a first try instead of a stiff copy over a sketch? (though, I’m not certain I’d consider that ‘lineart’ as opposed to sketches in a solid pen?)

I feel like kind of a bastard showing this first one haha, you can be assured there were a number of undo's.

You can see that my lines are never really the same as the sketch, and I know a lot of artists myself included leave some of the thinking for the ink stage. However, some are really really tight in the sketch stage, and I think if you aren't confident with putting down solid lines then that way might work better. It depends though, and digital art has an undo, so.

I definitely gained line confidence through drawing straight in pen into my sketchbook, I like drawing expressions from ref over and over until they feel right lmao. (idk if this is good advice for all the time sketchbooking though, it definitely makes me less likely to try new poses or expressions from imagination because I can't erase)

-------- Some general things to consider- is your sketch fuzzy, is your eye reading a lot of loose lines as having potential- and dimension, and then narrowing it down to One Line flattens the finished version? Is your brush the same size, are you drawing in something thicker and losing the vibes because the lineart is thinner? Same vice-versa, are you losing detail because the lineart is thicker than the sketch?

Facial expression wise…I feel like choosing where to draw the lines is tricky and you have to really learn which ones work well with the opacity of a sketch, and Dont work well in a solid line.

Here’s a terrifying example LOL. Outlining everything on a face vs choosing which lines I think sell the expression. (The teeth are extreme but…) Often I put full cheek creases on just one side even if I know they would be on both, and just hint at the other side. It’s often a darker crease on the side furthest away anyway, so it works pretty good.

I honestly only learned to ink in the last few years and it's been a struggle to go against my painting roots haha, I’m sure other more experienced artists have better tips than me!

Well, first of all, I have to thank @yridenergyridenergy for selling me the ticket! It was literally the best experience I had throughout the year; I really, really, sincerely appreciate it.

As promised, this is my repo of the gig in Wakayama. To be honest, I’m really a bad recorder as I can only recall the sensation or vibe in general and forget the details every time. Am I the only one?? Anyway, I guess my drawings may not be precise at all and it would be more like a summary of the year.

And this repo will be focusing on Kaoru, Toshiya and Kyo. I’m sorry but I stood on the left in both times.

Kaoru

It’s so strange that I can easily feel my love for him grows with time and what a coincidence! I visited them twice this year and I was right in front of him every time. I always assumed that I would be in front of Toshiya when I checked the hall map in December, but no! It was Kaoru again! It kinda shocked me the time I located my seat and noticed his microphone stand was there, just about 2 meters away.

I think probably it has been known by all of you, the show started with a semi-transparent screen showing some AI-generated footage(sorry, I hate this part). It covered most of the setting but just revealed some shadows. I could only see Kaoru, his side profile, priest-alike gown and silver hair. He looked so focused and indifferent and so good-looking…my hands are still sweating as I recall it now.

That was my first time listening to Rinkaku on-site. I got caught up in emotion when you could easily compare themselves in reality and their sketches in the video. You could see how much they have changed and it also just reminded me a lot of moments, staying at home and staring them on the screen. The real vs the virtual.

Also, at the beginning from the distance, I could only see some sort of marks on his chin that looked pretty much like piercings? It turned out to be his makeup; so brilliant.

Kyo

I didn’t see Kyo that much this time, but I feel he is that kind of vocal that you would fall in love with once you’ve actually seen him in the venue. He looked so nostalgic to me this time, maybe bc of the ghost face makeup or the fact that I have seen him too much this year. I also went to HK for sukekiyo this year.

The gig of sukekiyo was more emotional, floating and spacey (and less aggressive, obviously). Kyo’s dedication was so contagious. Although he looked a little bit nervous at the beginning of the Day1, forgetting the lyrics now and then lol.

It is interesting to see the similarities and differences between Diru and Sukekiyo, like looking at different reflections of the same mirror.  

Btw probably he is the most inspiring Diru member to me I guess. Idk why drawing kyo always begins with a pretty satisfying draft then it becomes a big challenge to my expertise and patience ahhhh. But yeah, I can improve a lot after finishing it. So, kyo, thx? lol

Toshiya

I’m not quite a fan of his white outfit that day(the one worn in the pic of their tweet on 16th Dec). Actually I even failed to recognize him the first, waistcoat and palazzo trouser are ok but definitely not the most stunning look of him. It seems that his style is becoming more gender-neutral this year, with hair dyed brown, pearl jewelries and feminine makeup.

But I still quite enjoyed his performance, his body language was so beautiful (ugh! It’s such a shame that I can’t recreate it)and he was the first one going to the left terrace and saying hi to everyone. Toshiya is always the sweetest person in Diru to me.

I prefer his encore look more and he took off the shirt and threw it to the gift right in front of him

For leshy, I feel like since he's the youngest...when he came along, everyone was like "yep. We don't even need to get this one tested" after seeing him in his natural element. Which sounds cruel but that's just personal experience after people in my family started getting diagnosed and we started noticing things about each other better LMAO. I kinda actually designed my iteration of him to be like a big stim toy, I did that shitpost sketch in the last post but even the first time I drew him I was like "this dude is made out of orbs that make satisfying noises when they click together", so if I had to categorize the way his neurodivergency manifests, it's definitely "I NEED TO MOVE AROUND!! RIGHT FUCKING NOW!! MAYBE SCREAM A LITTLE IDK IT JUST FEELS RIGHT!!"

Heket is for sure the one that fights the most against people labelling her with it, just because she's like I'M SO NORMAL GUYS. LOOK HOW NORMAL I AM. LOOK HOW WELL I CAN ADAPT TO CHANGE AND LOOK AT ME NOT FREAK OUT AT ALL WHEN I'M OUT OF MY ELEMENT!! She's the new leader of the family so she does her best to hold it together but if you make plans with her, she's gonna be in Waiting Mode as soon as the plans are made and might tear you limb from limb if you flake or reschedule. Something my therapist told me recently is that me getting absurdly upset over injustices (small or big) is likely directly related to being autistic, so if heket feels like something is wrong she will absolutely be vocal about it. If someone says something mean to her, they are her fucking arch nemesis from that point on. The block button is NOT enough she wants them DEAD

For narinder, I feel like he maybe bonded a lot with shamura over the fact both of them feel pretty disconnected from everyone else? The way his autism manifests is probably the feeling that he's on a completely different wavelength than everyone else, and can't experience empathy the same way his siblings can. He'll like have conversations with people but it feels like someone just talking at him, and him having to mentally choose the dialogue options that make the conversation end the quickest. He probably feels like a completely separate species from everyone else on more levels than just "I am a cat and you are not". I know this doesn't line up with my narinder art so far but I have a distinct characterization of him pre-schism that's completely different from post-schism. I feel like he also resented the other siblings for having the same condition as him but presenting so differently, he felt like he got the short end of the stick.

Kallamar........is a FREAk ABOUT TEXTURES. Bro will actually throw up if he has to eat or touch something gross. He would probably excuse himself to go hurl if he sees leshy combining everything on his plate and shovelling it into his face. I'M actually about to hurl just thinking about it. I have to have lotion on at all times or I freak out when I touch things with my hands, and I feel like kallamar needs to have that famous Cephalopod Mucus Layer in order to exist in his body without wanting to implode. Maybe even a special oil he formulates himself? I also feel like he probably has the most freakouts and has been left crying inconsolably + hyperventilating on the floor over something seemingly stupid MANY times, but shamura is understanding enough to be patient with him and not try to grab him or repeat phrases at him over and over.

LASTLY, SHAMURA DOESN'T THINK THEY HAVE AUTISM. They're like "I love my Neurodivergent Family :) can't relate tho" but all the siblings have unanimously agreed they have something going on up there, even before the TBI. I think they're very book smart, and have little file cabinets of their brain of stuff like "arthropod husbandry" and "dreamcatcher making techniques" but are totally clueless to how other people operate. They don't really know *why* people do the things they do; in my prequel AU thing, they gain most of their social knowledge through people watching rather than like...being normal and just knowing how to behave. Out of all the siblings, they've probably been told the classic phrase "but you don't look autistic!" the most LMAO

Also shamura 100000% has misophonia and that's the reason I didn't have them sitting at the table with the other siblings in the voidpunk comic I did of them. They love their family to death but they have to make the conscious decision to not shake baby leshy every time he loudly chokes down his dinner, so they just sit out meals and eat on their own time. If shamura was real I would build them a shrine and sacrifice my noise cancelling headphones cause idk if they have sound reduction methods in cotl world <3

I know autism kinda encompasses ALL of these traits and isn't something that can be categorized into "this one hates noises, this one needs to follow a schedule..." but I also don't want to just point at one bishop and go "YOU. YOU WILL BE MY VESSEL" because I'd never get to write all that I have in mind if only one character had it. There's definitely overlaps in symptoms between them but I just wrote down what I felt would be the most notable to that specific character. I've been wanting to do a comic about their special interests or the times they just like sync up and have a brain blast jimmy neutron moment, cause usually they're all over the place. I have literally never said the word "autism" so many times in my life I think I gotta cut it here, THIS IS SO LONG. I REALLY DID WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS THOUGH SO THANK YOU FOR THIS ASK GENUINELY. it's monday, so there's that. made it to another week! i have a lot to process. i haven't caught up with myself in that sense. the latter half of february got so weird, so fast. i've been embracing being a newgen, though, which is great. i love listening to emo songs everyone knows and realizing yeah these guys were onto something! i got to listen to tastemaker by bby goyard, which was decent. definitely a different direction than what i was expecting from him, but i can appreciate the attempt to try. i'll do a seraphtunes write up about it.

i've started drawing again. i've been doing graphic design since forever. it's one of my favorite hobbies. i realized, when applying to colleges back in september and october, that my portfolio is pretty lackluster. colleges expect diverse portfolios: sketches, studies, forms. i had, like, two complete pieces and hella graphics. i was worried that since a lot of my design works were for the same thing, that it would fall flat. but it didn't, and i got into my top school. it sucks that i couldn't really celebrate, because i know i can't accept the offer. it just isn't ideal to stay in america right now. i'm a superminority, i fear. they gon' get me... but of course, it's not like i can't come back. if things are fine a few years down the line, i can reapply. that school has a doctorate in design, and i'd like to teach the major eventually, so having a phd would be sick.

i just lost a close friend. irl moots i know you're SICK of me talking about this. get well soon i'm still grieving and therefore will still be talking about it. there's a seraphblogs post from the beginning of february that almost makes me think i'm naive. but i know now that i truly have every reason to be enraged. i lost a friend because their partner is an obsessive coward that can't get over the fact that i didn't want them. i'm realizing the true extent of how far people will go to hurt others. there is an evil in their partner that cannot be fixed. i do not ever want to know what it takes to be that dark hearted. i chose the high road last night, deciding against embarrassing them on every public platform i have. i hate being angry because i feel like it relinquishes my control.

my daily affirmation is: get over yourself. i have to remind myself of this throughout the day and into the night. i spent my latest check on clothes. most anticipating the i'llstopstabbingwhenyoustopscreaming chiodos zip up. i'm cool and pseudo-intellectual with all my weird outfits and accessories but i genuinely be going insane internally. my outfits are high effort but i rarely feel like putting in that effort. i do it for myself, but i'm just burnt out by everything. i just can't be bothered 6 days out of the week. truly the consequences of taking shit on the chin. i'm good at it because it's all i do but one day i'm gonna stop being the bigger person and i fear literally everyone will hate me. i'm really into curating my appearance and vibe on the internet. i'm starting to pass really well, seems like. guess it really is a mindset thing. i also basically got integrated into the black scene scene (lol) that exists on instagram. i don't know why i keep ending up in scene spaces i don't go here guys. love those freaks though.

i'm looking for another job. i love my coworkers, at least the ones that remain after everyone started to leave. finding out that one of my coworkers is nonbinary was so funny. i should've known—cis people don't listen to ecco2k AND sniper2004. they know the evilgiane lore. i found out from them that the reason our store manager left is because he highkey wasn't doing his job. apparently all of us are missing money bcs he wasn't putting in our hrs, and we also failed two inventories (technically not his fault people just steal like crazy). i liked my store manager a lot, but fucking with my money is cray. however, him leaving the store was basically a self sacrifice. if he hadn't, especially since the district manager is coming in the summer, district can come in at any time and fire all of us. it gets wild.

today, i look forward to watching a film with @/miotxro after classes on tuesday. i'll cook something nice if i feel up for it, or take it on the chin and have pork (my family ordered the most tanzphobic pizza. wdym pepperoni and bacon i Cannot Eat That) even though i don't want it. i'm going to draw and maybe clean when i get home. honestly, i just want to eat and take a 6hr nap. i feel uneasy about the week ahead.

He either had a flawless sleep schedule (early to bed early to rise ass mf) or no sleep schedule at all (spending 3+ nights hyperfocused on smth). It made for a very loopy Phil sometimes, which his murder of crows very much enjoyed

This man can fit so much joy and whimsy in him. Everything is awesome, everything is a breathtaking work of art and everything is decades of rich history to uncover. He loves life, he loves the passage of time, he loves teaching the murder about what he finds & restores

That's his main hobby besides being a survivalist, restoration and an informal form of archiving. He sketches the builds, takes notes on the deities, adds his own little touches to each place to make it a little prettier

He could fly for hours. Sometimes he'd fly aimlessly into late into the night, too immersed in sight-seeing and chatting with the murder

He had little altars in Flowerfall, Nether Void & Greater Spawn Islands for OO, BE, and Rose respectively. He'd leave little shiny things, trinkets that made him think of them, offerings like cooked fish or blaze rods or flowers in little offering bowls. Just as a nice, more direct way of giving them thanks for creating something so beautiful and allowing him to restore it to its former glory

He fucking loves swimming and fishing and hanging out at Endlantis, he'd just very aggressively avoid the cave that is EK's tomb. It was extremely haunted, he never got good vibes down there

He sometimes considers making his own remarkable build as a sort of "I was here, I too am a mark upon this history" but looks at his house and is like "mmmmbetter not" (he's an idiot, he could 100% build something cool, just probably not on the scale of the builds the gods have created. He'd probably create it for Goddess of Death, not even himself 💀)

Obligatory gapple addiction mention. It didn't start because of the murder, but he definitely used them as an excuse to further indulge once he started devoting eating one to the crows who'd been in the murder for a year. He never really had a reason to quit, or worry about the addiction, so he never experienced negative effects from it. Gapples aren't exactly harmful, just.. tinged with just enough magic to infect the brain. (He never experienced withdrawal misery on QI bc the Feds wiped his memory so his body had no idea it should be having a bitch fit =) )

Semi-related, he loved the days where he and the murder lacked the motivation and focus to do restoration things so they'd just fuck off in a random direction for ages and go on loot sprees. Nothing more exciting than hunting for more god apples :D

He started out liking fishing. The murder got too obsessed and it became the bane of his existence. But he loves the murder, so he does it anyway. Besides, he wouldn't trade chill talks with them for the world. :')

Btw he doesn't know this but it was equal parts the Ender King & the Feds ripping rifts between the universes that got him caught and taken to QI. EK didn't plan for that to happen, he just wanted to escape to a new reality to find a vessel to come back to power. Which is why once Phil was on the island, EK went "Fuck it, I'll use that asshole since he's not only compatible, but from the same plane of existence"

Mobs never scared him much (except Enderman) despite the fact that they were very dangerous and he's a survivalist. He was practically a mob whisperer, it's how he trapped trophy ones, made certain farms and why he was 99% fearless when farming charged creepers. QI has so many mobs he's never seen in his life that his chill instincts are suddenly like AAAWTFWTF

He never felt truly alone despite being the only humanoid. He felt like Rose was always with him, very rarely OO, and the murder ofc. He could understand them and he'd talk to them all day every day. Not only that, he had pets like Pog and Champ and there were quite a few times he'd humanize inanimate objects, which scientifically helps keep you sane in isolation such as survival. He always felt like he had Something to socialize with

That said, he IS still a bit weird socially on the island. Socializing with humans is way different than crows, other animals, gods, and objects.

Btw Ian is God of Chaos (a lesser god like Goddess of Death) and other mods like Birder, D3 & Wolfy are notably larger or perhaps a different species of corvid that hang out among the murder :D

Second of all, we got our twitter account back! We ended up deleting that one post that twitter didn’t like (yes, the one that doesn’t have anything explicit or any nudity on it), which obviously sucks, but at least now we can jump back to posting more or less regularly.

And now that this situation is over, I can say about the thing that honestly tickled me: the last person who wrote a callout post on me right before our acc got locked (=the person who very likely caused the massreporting in the first place) got accused of grooming a 13 y.o. and had their account terminated the very next day. What a great illustration of how the fandom climate works, right? Hilarious.

We love first year Rook with first year Idia so much, Anon, you have no idea! And Rook/Idia in general, this is one of the things that I really want to draw properly at least once. For now we only have sketches…

But to answer your question! I like to think that Rook was very intrigued by Idia right away; of course Idia isn’t a beastman, but he is not only super bright and shiny-looking (unusual! Interesting!), but also is a very rare pokemon to see. It’s very easy to picture Rook getting excited and charmed by him, maybe he even had a period of a little obsession~ But of course none of this is in any way returned by Idia; to him being suddenly surrounded by so many loud and annoying people his age is already stressful enough, but Rook is somehow worse than all of them combined. He hates everyone from Savanaclaw, but they’re usually just rude jerks, but Rook? If only he was a rude jerk…

This is such a good question, Anon. It’s honestly still kind of easy to imagine him doing that. He punishes himself constantly, and while I don’t think this is necessarily about control, this absolutely could be about wanting to make himself feel even worse or to distract himself from the other kind of deep pain he’s feeling. Since we’re talking about a character here, as an artist I can also add that seeing him this way could be aesthetically pleasing, there are some very good artworks with this theme.

That being said, we usually tend to think that Idia wouldn’t do that. I agree that Idia being phobic of pain sounds very like him, but also? He is very detached from the physical side of things in general, I think. He would rather torment himself mentally.

Another reason for Idia and selfharm not really working in our heads is that I don’t think Ortho would let him. He is very sensitive to changes in his health condition after all.
