(inspired by @sweatermuppet's poetry and stickers, and my own very complicated relationship with gender and cowboys)
buy silas denver melvin's stickers! (i have... almost all of them, and they're great quality and let all the other transsexuals at the function know that i'm a cool queer poetry loser)
"in the old world, before the body / awoke and ruptured, / you followed your father shirtless / through the yard, grass bloody knees, / one of the men in your small cowboy / boots and muddied hands."

The polite transphobia from adult women is no longer keeping you hostage as you sob an earthquake in your ex-boyfriend's car.
Grit is a transgender coming of age story. There are no beautiful rainbows here, no whispers, but raw cries from somewhere primal.
Mod opinion: I haven't read this poetry collection, but I think I've read some of the author's poems here on tumblr.

Some pictures of the Trans Day of Remembrance event at 7th Circle Music Collective in Denver, CO, hosted by Rise Up Trans Rights with some free food provided by East Colfax Care Collective. Despite no shots of people (this is done to protect organizers and attendees), we had an incredible turn out. The event included an obvious memorial for those we lost and a moment of silence, but also intended to celebrate trans life, having speeches, punk bands, free zines, and free food. I spent my time handing out food to people and seeing each person's unique smile was a wonderful experience that can't be replicated.
Hey all, 5 of my local transfem friends at the core of our little trans girl community are currently saving up to buy a house that they got a friend to sell them on the cheap so they can create a transfem housing co-op together. Some of them are currently various different forms of homeless so this is a huge break for them and it’s also an incredibly important resource that we can share to try and make sure none of us ever have to be homeless. Unfortunately, it’s also expensive, so they’re doing a little fundraiser to try and help cover the costs. Pls reblog & give if you can! Help support vulnerable trans women in securing housing and building community!!!
[Image ID: a black and white typography edit that reads "the homosexual and the transsexual must always seek to liberate the other for they fight the same fight." in black boxes. in the center of the image is a cat affectionately rubbing it's face against a large fluffy dog that is laying down. the entire image is textured to look aged and photocopied. /End ID]
