Happy (belated) meta-birthday to Wallace and the digi- twins Gummymon and Chocomon! It has been 24 years since Hurricane Touchdown/Golden Digimentals were released in Japan!

I love this movie, I love its soundtrack (especially the one track they rearranged and used for Arukenimon's theme in the TV series), I love Wallace and his digi-twins, and more importantly, the art in this movie is so gorgeous and colorful..

And I'm glad that director Taguchi loves this movie enough to just give us happy cameos from the three of them. I'm glad 02TB let us see him in a good scene having a happy life with his double-partners! Oh, I wish one day Toei and the Digimon higher-ups to release a novel where Wallace meets the 02 kids again, and then witness Wallace, Ken and Rui meet for the first time.

I want to know if Ken will just hate him because Wallace was flirting with Miyako in HT lmao. And if you know, you know. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(Also, Rui is basically a reinvention of Wallace, imo. It's a concept that just seems to get a fresh new angle and I think they'd get along okay?!)

I had no idea if I should just use the adult Rui holding the egg, but I didn't like the idea in the end and went with kid Rui. And i added the eyepatch because I need to draw more eyepatched child Rui for my own fanworks, like this interquel AU thing here.

Okay, so, I saw your Chaos emeralds DC X Dp prompt and I thought, "What about The Digimentals from digimon 02?" Think about it, they are abstract and embody certain Virtues and concepts tied to them! What if Danny, Sam, and Tucker did the thing with Digimentals instead of the Emeralds! It'd be fun and interesting to think up the Armor evos for them, because they all have different point with each Crest. Like Danny Definitely has a wolf or other big canine for the friendship Digimental due to his protectiveness towards it friends, plus his affinity to Canine ghosts in the show, I'm willing to bet many of his Armor evos would be canine related, like Sincerity would be like a Shinto Fox Priest and Hope would be Canis Major or the Dog star.

-Just incase the ideas of the Digimental are foreign to you? They don't need to be inspired by every concept of the digimental.-Courage: bravery, Reptiles, Sun, Religious beliefs related to sun, dinosaurs, Minor dragon, fire.

-Friendship: standard forest animals, Ice or lightning.

-Love: wind, flying, affection, love towards certain things(abstract, love of home, friends, romance, platonic, Hatred(the negative side of love as it is not its opposite, rather its dark side), native American elements.

-Sincerity: plants and Japanese(shinto and taoism) culture.

-Knowledge: Earth, insects, drills.

-Reliability: water, aquatic life(natural or mythical) and or combined with aquatic craft(vehicles).

-Kindness: friendliness, compassion, Cutelike, Red Gloves for some reason.

-Light: Egyptian myth, Angel like wings.

-Hope: stars, Greek mythology, constellations, zodiac.

-Miracles: fairly abstract one, mainly golden armor, (possible ideas be like divine beings, or even imbodiments of a miracle or being able to bring out certain miracles, like a Djinn). Or being able to do something conceivably impossible, like becoming a Flying Elephant!

-Fate/destiny: similar to miracles, gold armor, being able to affect fate in some way, change the fate of others, to control your own destiny.

I'm sorry, I've been looking at this anyway I can and can't, really, think of much for this...

But imagine Constantine getting absolutely dogpiled by three teens just because he breathed wrongly around them while the big three is calmly sipping tea with one of said teens parents.

Constantine is out here magicking his life away, not knowing what he even did wrong, all because three kids decided to just ruin his day.

And you know what? They did indeed, effectively ruin his day even harder than it was already.

Meanwhile, Batman is done in the Fenton lab, stoic face yet marveling at the technology they managed to make with household items and limited amounts of money.

Wonderwoman is fisting fighting sentient food and wondering if she could find a way to take these home, while Clark is just sitting there being there pretty and talking with Jack Fenton.

Of course, Superman and Wonderwoman can hear Constantine fighting for his life, but its like, whatever.

It's basically the same as this picture here from 2019, but with a few changes since we now have R!Taichi and Hiro.

I'm still not sure how to add the reboot Taichi to this chart, but remember that the original version of this same idea had Taiki as Ken/Digimon Kaiser to represent Kindness?

Ignoring the double Taichi here for a moment, we could do this:

Taichi → Courage

Daisuke → Reliability

Takato → Hope

Takuya → Friendship

Masaru → Love

Taiki → Light (?)

Tagiru → Sincerity

Haru → Kindness

Hiro → Knowledge

Yeah, I know people will come here and claim "but Daisuke should be Miracles!" and I will just remind you of my answer to a person asking the same question -- Miracles is not exclusive to Daisuke..

Also, I'm not sure if I should count Miracles and Destiny here, since they're kind of "special" cases. Think about how Super Sonic is a very, very special form for Sonic that you can only obtain to play with if you either get all the Chaos Emeralds or finish all the character stories to unlock the "final/last story" mode in some games.

And to be fair, all the Crests/Digimentals are not character-bound, so a character can have the same. Most of these kids would be pretty good for Courage and Friendship, but it would be boring to just slap that answer in and call it a day, right?

Still thinking about how Kizuna changed everyone's minds regarding how to translate the word "Unmei" enough to make me see anyone using Digimental/Crest of Fate as translation for 運命のデジメンタル and my mind goes like

I don't... I don't agree with this translation anymore and the official localization was right since day one 💧

And before everyone points this out: Yes i am aware this is a legit accurate translation for 'Unmei', it just... when you watch Kizuna and there's the whole plot about Fate (Shukumei) vs Destiny (Unmei), you cannot go back to the old days of translating 運命 as "Fate" in this franchise.

Ok... Even tho my initial proposition of leaving the investigation for tomorrow, Bit and Sophie have unanimously decided that it's ok to go on, since Bit was able to quickly get some Band-Aids for Sophie... This operation is not particularly dangerous, but it's not SAFE safe either... So I'll have to ask MegaloGrowmon to keep an eye on them more often.

Once again, using Kuda-Gitsune, we try to search for some kind of place that could be used as a meeting point for the digimon and their controller, but-

It's... The Digimental Of Purity...

During the days of the Old Digital World, weak digimon used to craft this things called Digimentals using aspects of the emotion spectrum, this Digimentals would help them evolve and face stronger digimon that made evolution way more complicated.

The evolution that a digimon goes through using Digimentals is called Armor Evolution, an example we've fought before is Rapidmon Armor, a Rapidmon born from the power of the Digimental Of Destiny, Armor Evolution is not as strong as normal evolution tho, it can only manifest in certain conditions this days, which makes it unreliable for day to day combat, but seeing that Sophie can barely defend herself against so many enemies, an evolution that matches the power of an Adult digimon is more than welcome.

Encounter

The love exploded because the marriage of the marriage and the digimon of the digimon were the same voice actor, Natsuki Hanae. I personally feel that the overlapping part is large, such as the two people's background and the encounter with the person who change life! I like both! !👐

Not sure if I'll change Purity → Sincerity in the AO3 version, but I'd like to make a disclaimer.

I'm not sure what became the case for the official new English subs for Adv (and the future 02 subs), but I'll just follow another route here.

I'm also leaning towards Integrity for Jou's Crest/Iori's Digimental, like how Kazari decided to go with and made her own statement + explained her chain of thought here. But I tend to think people might mistake them as "fanmade" and not another way to translate that crest which has no direct translation to English 💧

But otherwise, I'll be using Sincerity and Reliability in my future works.

Also, thanks to Kizuna going hard on Destiny (Unmei) VS Fate (Shukumei), I can't definitely keep using Fate for "Unmei". Yes, I know you can translate it like this, but I keep believing in Adventure material this is a HUGE big deal so i guess they always wanted it to be translated as "Destiny". And Destiny works better for Wallace and his character growth in the movie -- He changed his destiny, after all.

Just curious: what Digimon partners would you assign to the Part 5 cast?

firstly since part5 sort of revolves around the golden arrow as far as i understand (no i still haven't revisited part5 and finished it oops) i figured the digimentals/digieggs and their armor evolutions would be an adequate replacement, i have a whole thing figured for how they affect evolutions and whatnot but that's an entire topic in on itself. anyway:

giorno has plotmon! he also has the mentals for courage, hope, light, and miracles to unlock those evolutions. protagonist privileges bay bee

narancia has hawkmon as a fairly straightforward choice. i had a harder time picking digimentals for him bc god i remember very little of part5 but i gave him the friendship and knowldge mentals, i think the resulting evolutions fit the theme of his stand well enough

mista has armadimon. i know there are digimon made of guns but those don't have armor evolutions really so this is a bit more out there. he has the digimentals of love and reliability

fugo has monodramon bc i was seriously running out of digimon with canon armor evos when i got to him. he only has the digimental of sincerity since that's the only one that causes monodramon to digivolve into anything iirc and it probably fits to some of his character arc? maybe? i hope?

trish has terriermon! i'll be real i never got far enough into part5 to find out how her stand worked exactly and what her arc is like so idk how well this one works. she has the digimentals of kindness and destiny tho

bruno has dorumon and abbachio has elecmon. no armor evos for these guys but they both have i guess narratively string evolutions with dorumon having the potential to become alphamon and elecmon going through the leomon line (though megas aren't really something i see anyone but jojos using for a number of headworldy reasons that are seriously off-topic here)

for not having finished part5 i've put a surprising amount of thought into these guys' partners. don't ask me about diavolo tho i never got far enough in either the manga or these musings to have any concrete answers for that just yet asjkdhak

it just hit me that, in hurricane touchdown, seraphimon is the one who unlocks the digimental of miracles for daisuke (!!!!!!) and holydramon unlocks the digimental oooooof
