When we started our journey with our children to discover the world, including African history, which is often overlooked in the US, we could not find anything geared towards children... until we stumbled upon this collection by The Rosen Publishing Group. Although for advanced children and adults, it is a must have for any real teacher of the world. Unfortunately, it is now out of print so most copies we found are retired copies from libraries. We will explore with you this collection one volume at a time. We believe that one cannot be a global citizen until everyone is included in “global.” Here is our contribution ❤️ Hope you like it. . #childrensbooks #blackchildrensbooks #africanchildrensbook #diversitybooks https://www.instagram.com/p/COLM3LhncZv/?igshid=1kr5p081dxvdu

Questions for me:
How do you choose your books?
If I buy second hand I always buy by impulse! It sounds horrible but if it sticks out either by cover or by browsing the back I’ll just get it. Sometimes if I find a nice book in a horrible condition i get it anyway because I feel bad about leaving it where no one will buy it!
Do you buy a lot, or do you prefer the library?
Both? I go to the second hand store a couple times a month to browse the shelves. I check out my library every week and the library online resources whenever I’m bored, so basically all the time! :)
How many books have you read this year?
4! The Marrow Thieves, Crazy Rich Asians, The Last Wish and a Wonder Woman Comic!
What is the worst book you read this year?
None so far, I liked them all!
Tell me something about your bookblr.
I post mostly about books I randomly (or not so randomly) find in my library’s shelves. There’s also a lot of cats, sometimes even my own kitties or foster cats! I use a lot of exclamation marks!
Do you follow book releases? If yes, how (fb, twitter, personal following of some authors…)?
I follow some authors that I know I like on facebook and follow releases here on tumblr!
Do you read the book before the movie, or see the movie first?
I try to read the book first but not having read it will not stop me from watching the movie!
How do you write book reviews? (If you don’t write, tell me what you like to see in them, or how you would write them)
There are a total of 3 reviews I’ve ever written so I can’t call myself a professional but I like a quick info what the book was about and then me rambling incoherently, that seems to be it.
Ebooks yes or ebooks no?
YES! I love my home library with my whole heart but I don’t know what I’d do on the run without the Overdrive app!
Do you have a Goodreads account?
You can find me with this handy link!
Blank gap -tell me anything you want: books you love, a book you rec me, how do you feel about my blog, anything at all!
I’ll use this chance to steal the favourite fairy tale question! Mine is The Little Match Girl, I first read it in a very old fairy tale book that my grandmother owned and I always loved it.
Questions by me:
1. What is your favourite fairy tale?
2. What are you reading at the moment?
3. Do you diversify your reading and if so how?
4. New books or used ones? Or library?
5. Tell us something about your local library, or your favourite library memory!
6. One remarkable book you read in 2018?
7. Do you read comics or visual novels? If so what’s your favourite?
8. Tell us something about your blog!
9. Reading or writing?
10. Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate with a good book?
11. Where do you read most often?
BONUS QUESTION: What’s your goodreads? (so I can follow you immediately!)

So I saw a couple days ago that, for whatever damn reason, tumblr wiped the Children of Blood and Bone tag (came with their new guidelines), which does not seem like a good sign regarding the future of the fandom on tumblr. Where is everyone thinking of heading? I don’t want to lose the meager community we have built up!
I’m still looking at sites and trying to figure out what will be the most similar to tumblr and allow me to continue posting the same kind of fan content as I have been here, so I’ll be back in a bit with my own answer!

Just tagging some of the other fanblogs for visibility, but anyone and everyone please respond!

“If people were silent, nothing would change” with these powerful words of Malala, starts the journey into Herstory, by Katherine Halligan and Sarah Walsh. This book is perfect for advanced young readers and adults alike, but it can also be read to an early reader. It is an uplifting recount of the lives of fifty powerful women around the globe and across time. It tells the story of their youth, challenges they faced and their achievements. From ancient Egypt with Hatshepsut to Coco Chanel in French fashion, to Elizabeth Blackwell the first British Born American doctor the stories of these women will surely inspire girls and boys alike. . #childrensbooks #blackchildrensbooks #africanchildrensbook #diversitybooks #sarahwalshillustrator #katherinehalligan #simonandschuster #simonandschusterbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/COB8-bnAU9Q/?igshid=z2htmioih6cl

We love this quote from #pocahontas all too often people can't empathise with anyone or anything "other" and for want of a better word 'dehumanise' people and animals they consider different from themselves. We need to learn that different doesn't mean they feel any less or that those feelings are any less worthy of concern #animaladvocate #animalliberation #animallover #inspirationalquotes #vegan #veganbooks #readforempathy #empathy #compassionateliving #diversitybooks #diversity http://ift.tt/2xPQSXE
