i know i run the risk of pissing off my favorite anon who came into my inbox to call me names BUT i'm seeing a lot of reviews for iwtv s2 that are basically just whining about the lack of lestat. i can only speak for myself, but as someone who LOVES lestat i did not think the season suffered because he was not there. i think those reviewers should open their minds a bit more. also, to my knowledge, no one has seen episodes 7 and 8, so who knows what could happen?

i’ve been thinking about this a lot recently with everything that’s been going on in the phandom, particularly on twitter although racism is by no means a twitter exclusive phenomenon and acting like everyone on tumblr is perfect would be disingenuous. i agree i can and should be doing more, and many years ago when i was less perpetually afraid of saying something wrong i was a lot better at it, but these days i find myself avoiding anything and everything that’s at all uncomfortable because i know i SEVERELY lack the emotional maturity to deal with it if i fuck it up. none of this should be about me but i’m painfully aware that the second i feel attacked in any way, usually doesn’t mean anyone is actually attacking me, i get obnoxiously petulant and suddenly it’s ‘well SORRY that i’m not PERFECT i guess i’ll DIE’. which is fucking stupid and embarrassing and not remotely productive. and then five minutes later i come to my senses and panic cause why did i say that? i know no one is actually attacking me, there is no reason to act like this. but in the moment i don’t have that reflection, and in desperately trying to avoid getting in trouble by saying the wrong thing i think i’ve gone too far the other way by not saying anything at all and now seem like i just don’t give a fuck. how i do or don’t come across is obviously not the issue at hand here, but i know i’ve got somewhat of a platform and it’s a shame i’m not using it the way it could be used, and i really do want to improve that.

the phandom often prides itself on being an inclusive and diverse space, and while that is true on the surface we don’t get to embrace that if we can’t even make sure everyone feels safe here

There is perhaps a greater discussion to be had about this long-term pattern of omitting Sophie (and now also Ha, who will be Bridgerton's third POC in a leading role, and the second WOC) from conversations surrounding this show

We are descending into a fascist police state, regardless of who wins, it is simply a matter of speed. Pushing the idea that we should “vote blue no matter who” (which, come on, clearly ignores valid issues people have with democratic candidates, like blind allegiance is never good) is dangerous. Voting is simply damage control, which is important, but will not stop what is going to happen. I don’t mean this in a doomerist way, because things will get better, but first they need to get worse.

Harris is still a genocidal white supremacist and just like Biden. After this election, if she wins, we won’t “go back to normal” because we can no longer go back, we can only go forward (besides, back wasn’t really as good as people think it is, just ask the global south). And that is fine. But holding onto the idea that democrats are good and will save us is foolish and dangerous.

The (majority) people who won’t vote for Harris aren’t gonna do it because they think politics doesn’t effect them or they are neutral, they won’t vote for her because she, while being the lesser evil between the two, is still evil, and will still uphold the systems that are driving us into the ground with the rest of the world. So please think a bit more critically and understand that while voting for her may slow down our spiral (or at least not fasten it like trump) we still heading for the same place, and need to prepare as such

yeah, people have always been bitter and/or confused about richonne and ESPECIALLY about how in love rick is with michonne. and while I think there are some people who might have genuinely just not have been paying attention because those characters are not their priority (which I get personally, as rick and michonne and people immediately tangential to them are my ONLY priority so I completely missed the sasha/abraham build up for example) as we all know most of the time the bitterness stems from thinly veiled (and sometimes not veiled at all) racism and misogynoir. which makes it all the more satisfying that andrew lincoln is not only patient zero of richonne brainrot disease but has exponentially doubled down about it over the years. idk how much that was an intentional response to the pushback richonne got since he's famously offline BUT it's still endlessly gratifying that he's constantly and unfailingly vocal about how much he loves the ship, michonne, and danai to the point where just as rick grimes isn't doing shit without his soulmate michonne, andrew lincoln isn't doing shit related to twd without his leading lady danai gurira. the second that man had an ounce of creative control he had rick declare his undying love for michonne at every available opportunity so if they haven't gotten the point by now I guess their panties are staying twisted forever. sucks to be them I guess!
