What is a CDD? And a DNI? And sysmed? Do any of these terms exist outside of tumblr?

A sysmed is a system medicalist. Someone who follows strictly medical models of what a system is, or a pop medical model at least. Usually used synonymously with anti-endo, but there are other sysmed traits that go beyond that. (Such as proselytizing "parts language" as objective truth, or backing baseless claims of mass fakers and those with "imitated DID" as the biggest threat to people with CDDs.)

Speaking of which, CDD is for Complex Dissociative Disorder, which refers to any dissociative disorder related to headmates. DID, OSDD, Partial-DID, etc. And yes, this one sort of exists outside of the internet. Not as an abbreviation that I'm aware, but the term "complex dissociative disorder(s)" pops up in actual academic literature with this same meaning a lot.

And DNI's are just on Tumblr... and Twitter, and Tiktok. Probably Instagram too. This means "Do Not Interact," but people in the DNI don't usually listen making this performative more than anything, and these might even encourage the angrier members of those group to interact. It's really more often a "people I don't like" list in practice.

If you have a DNI, there's a 50% chance you won't want me around. Not because I fit "basic criteria", but because I support endos: I might be one myself. Then after that, theres a 75% chance you won't want me around because I'm generally okay with factkin.

And you know what, that's okay. You have your DNI for a reason and I respect your boundaries. I'm an inclusionist and accept these groups for a reason. I'm not gonna fight you if you have this or that in your DNI, but acceptance and support is the very reason I don't have a DNI.

And for those people who do fall under "basic DNI criteria" (homophobic, ableist, racist, etc.), they still aren't on a DNI: I just block them. I can't stop them from making that initial interaction, it's the internet after all.

Some Tumblr DNIs are just stupid AF

Ones like “dni pedo/maps” is reasonable, one’s like “dni bigots” is a grey area because are you talking about actual bigots or people who just don’t think that pumpkin/pumpkin self pronouns are valid OR don’t like Lizzo. (I really wish “dni bigots” LITERALLY just meant for DNI for ACTUAL BIGOTS, but on Tumblr it is rarely the case)

I’ve seen ones like DNI transmeds, DNI capitalists, and even DNI centrists like damn you definitely don’t sound like an insufferable pussy at all. 🙄

there are groups of people, both online and offline, who argue that autistic children are changelings, that psychotic people are possessed, or that people with ADHD are magical.

they think that being neurodivergent is because outside forces have either blessed or cursed that individual.

this is completely unscientific and incredibly ableist, and it makes me deeply uncomfortable to see that kind of rhetoric being thrown around.

I've seen a lot of posts making fun of the use of DNI's. And some just plainly against them altogether. And honestly, I get that with some of them. Like some are so bizarre and ridiculous.

But my thought has always been that they are mainly for +18 blogs on here? And that the idea isn't that "These kind of people are FORBIDDEN from viewing this blog", but rather "i'm setting a boundary, now it's on you if you cross it or not. DNI: minors, men"

And now, i am not saying i agree with these broad "men DNI" ideas, but what i am saying is that I do get where they're coming from. Sex workers/blogs on here get A LOT of creepy dms from men. Like so much harrasment. On my +18 blog I got a man literally confessing to a sexual crime, telling me about it like it was hot. I do not want those men in my DMs. So i get that the reaction to that is setting a broader DNI, like "men DNI", though i don't personally agree with it.

And no, most people do not think that saying "_____ DNI" actually works 100%. Nor do they expect that people will respect their DNI's. It's just setting a boundary. Just like in real life you can tell people how you wish to be treated, but you can't actually make them treat you that way. All you can do is remove people from your life that don't respect your wishes. On Tumblr it means blocking people that won't respect your DNI.

But yeah, the point of this post is to ask where the dislike for DNIs is coming from? Like I get that some of them are absurd, but are people also against the +18 blogs saying "minors DNI" and setting other boundaries on how they wish to be treated by people consuming their blogs? I've stated my views here, but am I missing something? Yeah basically, I just want to here from people who do not agree with DNIs in general, so please tell me your opinion!
