A woman in her late 40's was sitting behind the desk, not even glancing at him as she shuffled her papers and cleared her throat.

"Congratulations Mr. Walker on passing your interview at The Administration's offices." The lady spoke, her voice monotone and bored, not paying any attention to the man she was talking to as Jay struggled against the restraints keeping him to his chair.

"You must have the wrong guy!" Jay chuckled nervously as the woman glared at him for the first time, "I haven't applied to any job recently. This is just a misunderstanding." The woman glared at him for another second before continuing with her speech in the same monotone and bored voice.

"As you might know, many more positions have opened in the conpany with the recent merging of the 16 realms. And we need upstanding and hardworking people to help maintain order and harmony as The Administration swears to all under its jurisdiction -

"Lady! You don't seem to understand!" Jay snapped lighting arching off him as he became increasingly annoyed and panicked, "I don't know what interview or job your offering me, I crash landed here a week ago and I've been trying to leave this whole week! The lady didn't even look at him as he talked, instead standing up and fiddling with a contraption hanging from the ceiling over her desk.

"I understand, Mr. Walker imposter syndrome is a very common problem, when someone feels that a position being offered is above their previous experience and expectations. Especially when you are being offered this manager role with no previous experience. But the Administrator themselves picked you to head this new department.

Thinking abt old man sonic's regenerative immortality and how it works

So the whole reason he's immortal is bc of chaos energy right. He's absorbed so much of it over the years it just won't let him die. And because it was a somewhat slow process his body had time to adjust so he doesn't need inhibitors like shadow who was just made with that much chaos energy right off the bat

He's not invulnerable tho. Every time he gets hurt, be starts to heal automatically. If he focuses, he can heal faster and more effectively. Same with dying, but he can't focus if he's dead, so it takes longer to come back and it might leave a scar

He can heal from pretty much anything as long as his soul still exists. He could have a limb chopped off and he can slap it back on and it'll heal, or if it's completely destroyed it'll regrow. Hell even if he's reduced to atoms he'll eventually come back, it just might take a while

How well an injury heals and whether it leaves a scar or not has a bit to do with his mental state. Chaos is power enriched by the heart y'know. Negative emotions make it take longer, hurt more, and leave heavier scarring, while positive emotions do the opposite. Scars can heal more once he's in a better headspace but they don't usually heal to the point of disappearing

He has a lot of scars, most being really old ones from childhood, but a lot are recent too, from facing off against increasingly dangerous threats and dying and coming back. He tends to cover the really bad ones with bandages since they still hurt from time to time and bring back bad memories of, y'know, dying, which makes the pain worse

Regeneration can be sped up by exposure to the chaos emeralds or someone like shadow channeling chaos energy into sonic. Tails has a couple machines that help with it as well but those are pretty much only used in emergencies (which happen more often than anyone would like)

Healing can take anywhere from a couple seconds to multiple months, depending on how bad the wounds are and if he died or not. Like a small scratch will heal in like 10 seconds while being gutted would probably take a few weeks

In short- heroes never die. Literally. He will come back no matter what and be a pain in the ass to any villain that tries to mess with his friends or his world

I'm writing a human AU, in which Bad Things happen. show!Crowley seems generally alright with murder as long as he doesn't have to think too hard about it, but do you think that could, in any universe, (/would his, ah, questionable, morals) translate a bit to a human version? if it wasn't *his fault* exactly (necessity for survival) but it was still a Thing? I'm not sure anyone's capable of dodging feelings of responsibility or guilt so hard, but? maybe?

(also, I'm curious about your opinion on gomens human AUs in general, if you don't mind?)

i love a human AU, it's actually my favourite flavour fic, and for GO fic in particular!!! i can find myself thrown out of certain fic when i feel like the characters aren't quite in-character, or the plot isn't entirely canon-compliant/retcons certain bits of the original material (not that that's bad in fic!!! it just, personally speaking, throws me off a little!!!), so an AU - human in particular - is the perfect alternative to that, for me... you can sandbox the characters, story, and themes slightly✨

so i basically (obviously there is Nuance to be had but that would result in a veeeeery long ask and ive chatted shit about it fairly regularly in other posts anyway) agree with you - that as long as he doesn't think too much about it, and doesn't have to do it himself, crowley just isn't... fazed by murder. along with all the good things, it's another thing, a bad thing, that humans (and angels/demons too, but is it murder if they don't technically live?) do, and crowley will have seen enough of it through 6000 years on earth to be essentially desensitised to it... aziraphale too, probably. he's also demonstrated that the concept of death to others in the context of self-preservation or protection of others is not something he overly concerns himself with.

in terms of how this would translate to a human AU - obviously i don't know the full scope of what your story is, but if we're supposing that AU!crowley would be exposed to murder (ie. he's not actively killing people himself - that's a whole other discussion!), i think his view on it could come from multiple places that are rooted equally in pragmatism, moral identity, and dissonance.

what is his view on capital punishment - would he consider it in some circumstances to be justified? cases of pre-emptive strike justification - does he think murder is justified when used in self defence, or defence of others? what is his stance on euthanasia, and end-of-life rights? from a warfare perspective, would crowley have strong enough feelings about murder to conscientiously object, if he were called to serve?

alternatively, in this AU scenario, is he a character that is naive and morally corrupt or deficient enough to essentially... just not care? put bluntly, is he just simply an arsehole where murder or suffering doesn't affect him? as long as it doesn't happen to him or his closest, would he even give it a second thought? or is he a character that acts so innocent, to the point that murder is some unspeakable concept that he doesn't even think about it?

im not sure this at all answered your question, anon?! but im more than happy to chinwag further on it, but maybe the above are a few angles to consider it from, even if they don't necessarily apply to your story!!! if it has helped though, best of luck with it, and i hope i may unknowingly come across it in the future!!!✨💕

i hate to say it bc i do think content warnings are very important but. i feel like every time i try to read some reader reviews of a modern book (especially anything remotely adjacent to YA), there are people saying that it needs content warnings, and even getting angry that these books (many of which were published years ago) don't have content warnings. and i think that's very... naive? to expect that? books with difficult subject matters have existed for... always, and you can't expect every new one to start adding a list of content warnings like ao3 tags. especially books written for adults. BELIEVE ME, there are times i read things i was deeply triggered by, and even had to put books down because of it. but i also learned how to discern what might be okay for me, by, you know... reading the description and maybe the first couple chapters. it's really not that hard to figure out "hm, this may contain a difficult subject matter for me" without an explicit content warning in the first few pages. and yes, i do think people's health and safety is more important than preventing spoilers or whatever, but... i also think some people need to get used to coming across things that are triggering by accident, and learning to step away from them. i don't think there's anything wrong with authors adding content warnings to their work! i applaud their dedication to protecting people's mental health, especially YA authors. but not everyone is going to do that, and honestly, they shouldn't be expected to
