Dominions My Beloved
Tumblr media
This is my attempt to share my love for the best grandest strategy game ever made with you Tumblr. Here it is in all its glory, that game your neighborhood autistic tgirl has over 2000 hours in.
Pictured above is my Pretender God
Tumblr media
hollowed be her name, engaged in viscous combat with the nation of Bandar Log and their tiger riders.
In this game, you embody a Pretender God of your creation, a worshiped creature that seeks to defeat all other Pretenders and become the one true God or Pantokrator.
All gods worth anything have worshipers, so your Pretender heads a nation inspired by myth and legend. Everything from Zoroastrian inspired bird people, to a satanic twist on the inquisition, to Lovecraft, glamorous elf vikings, and beyond are represented here. One of the two Swedes who makes this game is a mythology professor. In my case, I chose to lord over the Ice Giants of Jotunheim. Fear my flag!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For we are protected by magic grandmas, giant werewolves, and little goblin men riding dogs! All rendered in awesome sprite work.
But back to Blatantly a Phallus, this is his description in game. Every unit, commander, and spell has some kind of description like this.
Tumblr media
You may be wondering how an immobile statue even gets into combat with a bunch of tiger riders in an open field. The answer is teleportation magic, which when paired with a unit literally made of rocks like Phallus, creates a lot of trouble for Bandar Log. The downside is sitting in this random field preparing another teleportation ritual for a month (one turn) before she can get back to business.
Tumblr media
Winning the fight is the easy part with a rock this hard. She just casted the "drop meteors on them" spell called Gifts From Heaven repeatedly while the tigers hopelessly wailed on her. That's what you're seeing in the first image, meteors landing "danger close" around Blatantly a Phallus. Its of note those 100+ damage numbers are extreme in Dominions. A regular human soldier is lucky to have more than 10 hit points! But that's because this is a war game. Dominions isn't about regular soldiers. Its about destroying each other with dubious magics! Remember those magic grandmas? Well I wasn't kidding. They're necromancer blood mages, and illusionists, who can turn your insides into outsides while they make you believe your teeth have been replaced with caterpillars.
It's a beautiful game, Dominions. This is its 6th iteration, and the same two people have been working on it since 2001. It oozes passion and history in a way I've not seen another game do. All 24 years of Dominions existence it has focused almost entirely on deepening its systems. More magic, more nations, more Pretenders, more choices for the player. It's so huge it can be incredibly daunting to new players. If this sounds like fun, don't let that deter you! There are games for all skill levels.
All of these images are from multiplayer btw. Dropping a statue with a shit eating grin called "Blatantly Not a Phallus" onto your enemy is a lot more fun when its another human being. The community is robust and very friendly.

Dominions 6: Same Great Taste, More Accessible
Don’t play it for the graphics I love fantasy strategy games. I’ve played piles of them. That includes most of the Age of Wonders series, Master of Magic (the original and the new version), Warlock, Fallen Enchantress, Heroes of Might and Magic 1 through 5, and more. But Dominions outshines those games in multiple ways. If you’re already someone who plays the Dominions games, you’ll have heard…

The last few Dominions games improve partially from the previous game, but one thing I need to credit them (aside from a fun concept of a game), is that the music is always damn nice.

Day 107 - Reasonable Relaxing
Calories: 2070
Today was the start of my weekend, and it wasn't that bad all things considered. Managed to relax a bit with only mild grumbling from grandmother about cancer sticks. She seems much more subdued about it now which makes me think she tried to beg her sister to get cigarettes and got told off.
Writing for today:
Dominions 6 is fun. It's almost all I did today. A bit of Darktide and a bit of laundry otherwise.
Slowly claiming the underground plane, or at least as much of the underground plane as I can currently reach. Most of the cataclysmic warfare is happening above me at this point, with hordes of thousands of vine zombies duking it out with Irish elves and giant flaming snakes.
Somehow the lovecraftian nation of the oceans got wiped out before I even saw them. A bit disappointing, I was hoping they were going to be a major player.
Those Irish elves are throwing hundreds of wolves at me in a vain attempt to retaliate for my taking of their underground territory. I say it's on them for thinking they had any claim to my under-earth in the first place.
Got up late today, but I needed the sleep. Felt almost okay the whole day, but still with the occasional spike of dread if I so much as hallucinated hearing my grandmother yell for me. Overall, today was okay.

This title isn't your usual fantasy fare on Linux; it's a blend of history, culture, and myth, making it a unique experience. As, a Pretender God, with a nation at your command. Dominions 6 - Official Trailer
youtube
This new edition ups the ante from its predecessor, Dominions 5. In Dominions 6, expect bigger battles and armies. The designers tweaked the balance between brute force and magic. You'll find that resources and incomes are up, but magic users cost more. Big, game changing spells are harder to cast, but there's a wider selection of intermediate spells to play with. One of the unique new features is the addition of the Glamour magic path. This isn't just about pulling rabbits out of hats; we're talking illusions, illusions, and the stuff of legends. This new magic path brings fresh spells, items, and locales to explore. Another big change is how cavalry units work. Now, riders and mounts are separate entities with their own stats. This might seem like a small tweak, but it really changes how you use mounted units in battle. Linux players can also play Dominions 6 in solo play, battle against others online or over LAN, team up in co-op modes both online and locally, and even play on split-screen. Plus, it offers cross-platform multiplayer, Steam Workshop support, and the ability to use Steam Play Together! Lastly, this launch also brings new nations and updates to existing ones, thanks to the new Glamour path. There are also several tweaks to make your gaming experience smoother and more fun. See the documentation page for the manuals as well as videos for beginners.
What Players are saying:
Players rave about the unique Dominions 6 scenarios, like raising undead armies or shaping dream demons, that make each game a distinct storytelling adventure. The appeal lies in its blend of simplicity in learning and depth in strategy, particularly highlighted in its multiplayer mode. While the AI may not always match human cunning, the title's community and the potential for modding promise ongoing enhancements. Veterans of the series note big upgrades in Dominions 6 over its predecessor, such as bigger battlefields, more nuanced magic systems, and intriguing new realms to explore. Despite some criticism over the price and the similarity to Dominions 5, the release is celebrated for its intricate mechanics and rich, myth inspired lore, making it a standout choice for strategy fans. So, get ready to claim your godhood in Dominions 6. It's a turn based 4x strategy adventure where history, myth, and your decisions shape the world. Available on Steam priced at $38.24 USD / £32.29 / 37,39€ with the 15% launch discount. Along with support for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC.

you WILL look at my gay minecraft fanart
(Comic ID & Transcript of text under cut!)
Page One:
Panel one: Viking is large and on the left side of the screen, facing right, while avid is crouching to place a shulker box down. Avid says “Haha, you’re the worst!” and Viking replies “Oh yeah? Well you wanna kiss me sooooo bad it makes you look stupid!”
Panel two: Avid (large and on the right side of the screen) looks up and turns towards Viking and says “HA! Well maybe I do!”. The “do” is underlined.
Panel three: Viking, with his hands on his hips, winks at Avid and says “Prove it then.” as Avid walks towards him with his hands behind his back, laughing and saying “Haha, Ok!”
Page Two:
Panel one: Avid has cupped Viking’s face in his hands. Viking, who seems to have not expected this and has eyes wide in panic, says “Wait just a-“ before getting cut off.
Panel two: Vikings last sentence was cut off by Avid kissing him. Viking, who can no longer talk due to being kissed, just makes a “Mmf!” noise. The speech bubble has little hearts on the edge of it. Viking looks incredibly surprised and very flustered. His eyes somehow get even wider.
Panel three: A wide shot of Avid and Viking kissing. Viking has his eyes open and is pulling on Avid’s coat somewhat forcefully. Viking’s tail is pointed up, and he seems to still be somewhat in shock. Avid has his eyes closed, is still cupping Viking’s face with his hands, and has put his left leg between Viking’s legs. Avid’s monkey tail is somewhat shaped like a heart. There are several small hearts drawn around the two of them, and a somewhat long squiggly line with heart shapes at the end of it near the two of them.
Panel four: Avid and Viking pull away from the kiss. Viking is out of breath and breathing heavily, still looking shocked. Viking says “Avid?”, but stutters a little. He’s still very flustered. Avid has his eyes open now and is looking somewhat smug, but is still cupping Viking’s face in his hands. Avid says “Haha! Look who’s turn it is to be all flustered now! Ahah….”
Panel five: Vikings face (with Avid’s hands on it still” is large and in the left hand corner of the wideshot panel. He still looks to be shocked, nervous, and catching his breath. Avid, for the first time in the comic, has a shocked expression, like hes only just processed what he did. In the middle of the panel, Avid and Viking can be seen still sort of holding eachother, though Viking’s hand has moved fully to Avids waist, and they are looking into eachothers eyes. Neither of them says a word until Avid says “Huh? Oh.” While stuttering a little.
Panel six: Viking and Avid have moved apart from each other, looking in the other direction from one another and both clearly very flustered. Viking has his right hand over his mouth and his left over his chest, and is facing the left side of the screen. Avid has fully burrier his face in his hands and is running to the right of the screen. Avid sputters saying “Oh my gosh I’m so so sorry um um I’ve got things! To do today!”. Avid continues, saying “I’ve got to go to my base now!”. Viking replies “Yeah, um. Me too.” and then follows up with, “Do you want to um. Do this again sometime?”. Avid responds “Yeah yeah, um of course!”

I'm gonna talk Elder Scrolls 6 and fantasy politics here for a second. Maybe a long post, who knows.
I think that the Elder Scrolls 6, which is all but confirmed to be set in Hammerfell, is going to be about politics. Like, full stop, it has to be. The overwhelming presence of the Empire as of TES 5 is undeniable, with the territories of Cyrodiil, High Rock, and half of Skyrim being under Imperial control.
If the civil war in Skyrim canonically goes to the Empire, then their coverage will cover the entirety of 3 provinces out of the 9 on Tamriel. They will control a THIRD of the continent.
But that's not all, because the Empire is backed (some might even say controlled) by the Aldmeri Dominion. The Dominion's geopolitical grasp is comprised of the Summerset Isles, Valenwood, and Elsweyr. That's another third of Tamriel. With the Dominion and the Empire's forces combined, they will be in control of 2/3 of all of Tamriel. Let's see who remains:
Morrowind: After the eruption of Red Mountain in the early 4th Era, this region is almost completely uninhabitable, with even its ashen-skinned residents (the Dunmer) choosing to leave their home in search of refuge in Skyrim, Cyrodiil, and even Black Marsh, two out of the three of which absolutely despise the dark elves. They are a shattered people, and have virtually no presence in the continental war besides what they lend to their respective places of refuge.
Black Marsh: Inhabitable by pretty much only Argonians, who could have even spread their control to Morrowind due to their hardy biology. Though, I wouldn't count on it due to the Hist's control over their every action. I've never heard of a Hist tree growing in ash, so the likelihood of the Argonians taking Morrowind is slim. However, Black Marsh will probably be the last territory that the Dominion/Empire take, due to the inhospitable nature of it. Previous attempts to invade Black Marsh have proved ineffectual, and notably the only battles the Argonians seem to win are those involving the defense of their home. They are not an offensive people. I suspect that the Dominion would sooner burn the marshes to the ground than attempt to colonize them.
And last but not least Hammerfell: Supposedly the setting for TES 6, and surrounded on all sides by Dominion and Empire alike, with the Imperial territories of High Rock, Western Skyrim, AND Cyrodiil surrounding them, and the Aldmeri territories of the Isles and Valenwood to the south. Hammerfell is basically fucked. It's gonna take a whole lot of divine intervention to—...what's that you say? There's an Elder Scrolls protagonist on the way...and Hammerfell's history recounts tales of people who can summon magic swords? Well I think the Dominion may find some resistance in Hammerfell after all.
The Dominion is basically guaranteed a victory over Hammerfell, especially if what the Alik'r from Skyrim's "In My Time of Need" quest are to be believed, and that Saadia's betrayal meant that the Dominion (whom most if not all people in Hammerfell hate) was able to take the city of Taneth in the war. Now if we look at a map like this:
Tumblr media
If the Dominion's forces are coming from the south, it means they have a strong enough navy to oppose Hammerfell's, which is notably a province known for their pirate activity (see the Elder Scrolls: Redguard). And if they took a city as far north as Taneth, not only did they have to probably take Rihad to get there unopposed, but they also had to make it through that bay unscathed, meaning they either have strong enough outposts on that peninsula to oppose forces from Gilane OR they took Gilane too.
And if they took that whole south central and eastern part of the coast, and are coming from the sea, who's to say they haven't taken Stros M'kai and Helgathe as well?
The north stands basically no chance against the Empire, and the south has probably already been taken by the Dominion. All that leaves is...the huge fucking Alik'r Desert in the middle.
The game will probably start in Dragonstar or Elinhir, my bet goes to Elinhir because it's more on the Skyrim side, but Dragonstar is also almost equidistant from Elinhir and Skaven, with a straight shot to the Alik'r Desert. Plus, starting in Dragonstar after playing a game about literal dragons would be a nice little poke. Like, "hey, remember the dragons?" I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few dragons in the mountains that the Dragonborn missed. They could also have them be infinitely respawning, since they don't truly die unless their souls are absorbed by the Dragonborn. So there's your dragon tie-in, Bethesda, you freaks.
The story is likely going to be about the political struggle between the cultural identity of Hammerfell and the forces that seek to swallow it whole and reshape it in their image. There'll be some references to the Swordsingers of Yokudan legend, but whether or not we will be able to actually learn the technique is uncertain. And there will be a HEAVY Dwemer presence. In previous games we were given access to none other than the hammer of Malacath, Volendrung, which was once a Dwemer weapon corrupted into the image of the Orsimer god-daedra Malacath. The hammer, according to legend, was thrown from Morrowind all the way to the desert that we now call Hammerfell (guess why they call it that) and the dwarves made their new home there, founding the city of Volenfell. Not only am I certain that we will see Volendrung in TES 6, but there will likely be heavy Dwemer presence (metaphorically speaking, they are extinct after all) and Orsimer presence. We could potentially even see some dead Dwemer, in the form of ghosts, time travel visions, sentient automatons, or even some sort of lich. If so, we might get to see a struggle between the Dwemer and Orsimer over the control of Volendrung. The dwarves and orcs do seem to have a bit of shared history.
Overall, this game is gonna be huge, and i can't wait to play it when im 80.
Lemme know if I made any mistakes in the replies, and feel free to argue about fictional politics with me in reblogs :> may your road lead you to warm sands.

Jurassic World Chaos Theory Spoilers ahead 🫰
EP 10.
First few minutes. Cabrera wanted Darius back in the DPW for their reputation and to keep the others in line.
W*f ?! Like he would have done everything, left the others in peace but not Darius so he will be sure to have no “loose ends” like Brooklynn .
Damn. He knows Darius well. He’s like yeah the boy is pretty stubborn and loves dinosaurs. He wanted to basically control Darius so he couldn’t do anything that would harm his business.
The scene scared the sh*t out of me can’t be the only one.
