Okay but the weirdest thing about the whole "Brotherhood is better you should skip 03" discourse that's become commonplace now, it sort of forgets the world Brotherhood came out in and why you should watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist. When Brotherhood came out, the original Fullmetal Alchemist was one of the most beloved and most watched animes of all time. Brotherhood assumes you the audience have already seen it because of course you have, everyone has seen it, so it skips important information and speeds the story up because it doesn't want to bore you with things you already know. Have you ever wondered "hey why does the first episode of Brotherhood kind of suck, and why am I being introduced to like 50 new characters, and why are they acting like I know what the hell an alchemist is?" It's because Brotherhood thinks you've seen 03.
The first 7 or so episodes of Brotherhood constitute dozens of chapters in the manga, and the first 25 or so episodes of the original Fullmetal Alchemist. The Nina Tucker episode in Brotherhood, in FMA 03 takes up nearly three episodes. Yoki gets a backstory in 03 and it's genuinely one of the best episodes and taken directly from the manga and Brotherhood glosses over it because: duh, you've already seen it. And so if you skip the original you miss out on dozens of really great character building episodes like Ed and Al meeting Hughes for the first time and getting to spend a whole episode helping him free a train from terrorists, or Ed and Roy having a duel that expands on the relationship they have, or episodes where the brothers just help out random people in towns before the major story gets going.
The original also paces itself quite a bit better than Brotherhood and is more in line with the mangas storytelling. In the manga we don't find out about The Gate until nearly two dozen chapters in, and the same goes for the original anime. Like, that's a twist reveal in those stories, and it's weird that the most watched series is the one where they tell you all about The Gate in the first two episodes because they assume you've already seen the original show.
What's more, people don't know that Hiromu Arakawa helped write for the anime while she was still in the middle of writing the manga, and as a result was inspired to write scenes in Brotherhood that the anime did first. That scene of Edward getting impaled by a falling beam? Directly inspired by a similar scene in the original anime. There's a lot of little instances of that and they're great when you can recognize parallels and things in Brotherhood that are direct references to the original anime, but people don't notice any of that anymore. Because the original anime is just an automatic skip these days, and it's a bummer because people don't realize what a giant it was back before Brotherhood was released. They treat it as *bad,* not realizing it was one of the most beloved anime of its time and the problems people take issue with have a lot more to do with personal taste than any kind of actual flaw in the writing. Brotherhood was never meant to dethrone it, and the original anime was always supposed to be part of the viewing experience which is why those first few episodes of Brotherhood are so fast paced. So like, please stop telling people Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 is a skip, or it's bad, or you don't need it because Brotherhood is better. Regardless if you think Brotherhood is better or not, the original wrote Brotherhood's check. It was huge, it was beloved, and Brotherhood is *banking* on the knowledge you've seen all of it and loved it. And trust me when I say there is so much to love about the original series. It's still my favorite branch of the FMA franchise, and it's worth your time, I promise you.

would love to hear your thoughts on the team bullying/forgiving jamie in s2, in particular what you disliked about it. imo i think sam’s treatment was harsh but not at all undeserved, while others like colin and isaac were a bit twisted considering they fully participated in the prick-ish behaviour in s1. and the whole led tasso bit was entertaining to watch, but it really reveals how problematic ted’s hands-off approach to conflict can be. to the point where ted refuses to refer jamie (and later on isaac) to speak with sharon, and never fully acknowledge’s each player’s feelings.
There was a really good meta I saw on this topic the other day that i cannot for the life of me find in my tags to link here. But yeah, there are definitely things I disliked about it! For me it's less about the players than about the leadership & Ted. I actually think the players reactions/responses mostly make sense. It's a bit weird, like you said, that EVERYONE suddenly hates him when half the team was literally participating in and/or endorsing him in season 1 (remember that episode where the team is split into two factions and one of them is Jamie's? lol. Like it wasn't even just Isaac and Colin participating in the behavior, it was half the team). However I can see that their opinion of Jamie might have changed given distance and their own growth.
Also, we don't really see any instances of Jamie publicly bashing his old team apart from singling out Ted and Roy, but apparently at one point he was off calling Colin a jaundiced warm to his hometown newspaper, so yeah I can see why that might've left a lingering bad taste in his mouth. Also the boys have gotten used to Richmond without him at that point, and it HAS been a much better environment, so I think it'd be easy to overlook that they were actually sort of starting to like him at the bonfire the night before he went back to Manchester (which was ultimately only just one night), in favor of focusing on all the times he was made the locker room worse. Also, there's probably a bit of misplacing their hatred for their past selves onto Jamie because it's easier to shift that blame around a bit than accept their own culpability in the bullying. Just like it's easier to blame relegation on Jamie, because he's there to blame, then on their own shortcomings in the game. Is it a bit unfair to Jamie? Sure. But it's realistic and I don't mind it.
Actually the only one I'm a bit ??? about is Dani, because he was absolutely getting along with Jamie in Two Aces even despite Jamie's prickish exterior. Dani hadn't even been around long enough to be negatively impacted by Jamie's effect on the locker room culture so? what gives? I also don't see him bandwagoning on just because everyone else hates him (which does make sense when jan does it hahah). So it's very weird to me that he holds as much of a grudge as everyone else, lol.
The biggest issue for me is (once again. woop.) Ted. Because he didn't want to get rid of Jamie in the first place. He was in fact IRATE when Jamie was sent away, and got into his first real argument with Rebecca over it, that's how upset he was. So why is he soo hesitant, suddenly, to let Jamie come back? His whole speech to Jamie at the Crown & Anchor makes me uncomfortable, because the whole "You burned a lot of bridges" thing doesn't even add up to the real reason Jamie was sent away and totally dismisses the progress he had already started to make before leaving. It seems to reiterate that Jamie was sent away because he'd been Bad and Done Something Wrong. Sent away after he'd in fact had a significant breakthrough with the team. No wonder Jamie is confused. Ted is crossing all kinds of wires and it's ??? Not to mention that he tells Sam Jamie isn't coming back, then brings Jamie back seemingly without even pulling Sam aside and explaining to him circumstances have changed, Jamie is coming back, and why. It's one thing to have told Sam and then change your mind. It's another thing for Sam to tell you he's upset at you for withholding information, explain that's not the case, then go and do the thing you JUST assured Sam you wouldn't: not consult the team re: Jamie. Idk, the whole thing rubs me the wrong way.
Ted having a conversation with the team beforehand, explaining why Jamie is coming back, would've already gone a long way to help Jamie, instead of just springing him on them and throwing him to the wolves. Led Tasso was typical hands-off Ted problem solving, and it's a funny comedy show bit but not exactly an appropriate workplace solution, is it? I might not mind it so much if it wasn't the start of a pattern of behavior where Jamie needs help, asks for help, and then is like...ignored or gone around or "acknowledged" and not helped. it happens with his return to the team, it happens with Roy refusing to coach him, it happens with fucking Zava. And it's extremely annoying that the team leadership fails him specifically again and again. ugh.
Re: Sharon/therapy and referring the boys, that one is soooo mixed up in ted's own mental health stuff I'm willing to give it a pass. of course Ted's not to going to refer players to see her when he doesn't see what she does as helpful and doesn't respect therapy as a possible tool/solution.

Tim heard the magic before he felt it. It was a small sound that only a trained ear could hear, Bruce had taught him to detect it, but they hadn't prepared him for what would come after that sound.
Of course he had seen how you used it, since sometimes you used magic in the house to move from one place to another, Wayne Manor was excessively large and it was easier than walking twenty minutes to get to the kitchen, or shamelessly getting lost in the corridors. He had never been prepared to react defensively to that sound, though there wasn't much he could really do though. The magic wrapped around him tightly but harmlessly, it was actually a warm soft force around him but firm, leaving him with his arms glued to his sides and his feet dangling under him as he was lifted into the air.
“Mom” Jason's voice broke the air, but he was the only one surprised or scared by what had happened.
“Mrs Wayne, I just want to help” Tim managed to say as he watched you leave the house at a steady pace with your hands manipulating your magic to lift it into the air.
“Don’t say that. I don't want to hear about it” you said furiously while pushing the boy further away from the house thus getting away from Jason “The drones, the missiles. All these people. Bruce”You pointed accusingly, leading him further from the house, until you were in the open field between the building and the woods. Tim could see how behind you, Bruce, Diana and Clark were the only ones who stepped forward in the situation to catch them both, while Dick held Jason and forced him into the house. Dick knew that if he let the boy get in the middle of the fight, your need to protect him would only escalate the situation, so it was better for him to stay where he was safe. Tim told himself that he should thank him for that, because he was starting to feel the heat of your fury emanating from the magic around him and he was starting to sweat, he didn't need everything to get worse. Neither did you.
“He had nothing to do with all that” Clark spoke, trying to divert your attention from the boy so you'll face him. It didn't fully work, the magic remained around Tim, but you did turn to look at it, giving Tim a few valuable seconds to think clearly.
“All you do is LIE!” you told him, gritting your teeth and squeezing your hand unconsciously. You didn't want to hurt Tim. But by squeezing your hand you caused the magic to respond to your fury and squeeze Tim, the air gone from his lungs, causing him to gasp and Clark could hear the boy's bones crack at the force you had put into the magic. So he acted. But, as he reacted, Jason successfully dodged his older brother while he was busy looking worriedly at the scene and ran out of the house, brushing against the shoulder of Roy, who was casually leaning against the door frame, looking at the yard with resignation.
Clark used his heat vision in the direction of your hand to try to get you to reduce the force you were putting on the boy or just let him go. But he didn't see Jason approaching, and when he heard him it was too late, your face turned from anger to sheer terror at the thought that your son caught in the crossfire, you dropped Tim, who hit the ground with a thud, the backpack helping to break his fall. You reached out to Clark, who had to stop his Heat Vision because you'd blown a bubble around his head, which he knew for sure that no matter how much heat he applied it wouldn't let go, but you didn't end there. You picked Clark up by the neck and tossed him away as you watched Diana try to stop Jason. With your magic you grabbed her by her feet and dragged her away from your son.
Barry tried to run towards Jason to get him out of there, that would lessen the situation but you already listened to reason, and when you felt his intentions you made sure he ran into a wall of your magic at the moment he ran out of his place, leaving a stain of blood on the wall of magic. Bruce yelled your name approaching the two, causing you to look at him with red eyes of magic and clenched teeth in fury. Jason had frozen in place looking at the now bloody face of who he thought was the gardener.
“Stop, please” he begged you, but your look made more than clear that fury had blinded you. You looked at him, eyes red and ready to continue fighting. They wanted to harm your children, they wanted to take them away.
“NO” you snapped, Tim moaning in pain behind you, still lying on the floor with at least a couple of splintered ribs. Your anger was emanating from you in waves, it was as if it could practically push Bruce back every time you speak. The world around him flickered. Black and white returned, as did the 1960s setting and clothing, but the situation remained the same. “You wanna take him out there” you spit out the syllables like poison and the magic keeps pulsing out of you around him. Everything changed again, now it was the sixties, all black and white, but this time your magic was dying, losing the illusion you had managed up to now, and contrasting with the television style of that period. “Y'all want that” you looked around you. Again everything flickered as Clark tried to stand in place, quickly being held to the ground by your magic and Barry wiping the blood from his nose with the sleeve of his colorful seventies suit, the color glistening against the yellow of his shirt. Diana hadn't gotten up yet, she was dizzy “Why would you want to do this, Bruce?” you spoke directly to him, fury turning to anguish, genuinely misunderstood in his actions “Why do you want them away? They're our children, they're safe here.”the betrayal hurt but the fury was still stronger. As Bruce felt this was the most honest conversation the two of them had had in a long time, which made him more sad than happy for the breakthrough, because he had let it get to this point. “Why don't you stay?”
Jason looked between his parents, as if it were a tennis match, he felt trapped in the middle of that discussion and the worst thing is that he didn't know why. There was no way or reason for his dad to want to take them outside. Where was she supposed to go if this was his home? There they were safe where you cared for them. Why did all these people want to put them in danger?. His anguish was reflected in you, you felt it in your bones as your own and Bruce realized that, directing his attention to him for a moment.
“Jason” he called out, causing the scared boy to stare at him with wide-eyed terror “It's all good, all right, just breathe” he asked, taking a step towards the boy. A mistake that was made clear when he was thrown backwards into the air. The world began to flicker anew, in a counting and confusing way, objects changing individually between decades in a chaotic and meaningless way. Bruce fell against one of the glass doors of the house that led to the patio, breaking the structure and cutting himself. The world stopped flickering, freezing everything to whatever decade it had been before that moment.
“Don't speak to him!!”you yelled at him as you walked towards him. Arthur Victor, seeing that neither Diana, nor Clark, nor Barry was able to react fast enough, stepped forward to face you. Hal checked Bruce who slowly got up from the glass mattress where he had fallen, while Oliver took Roy and Dick and put him further into the house where Alfred received them as upset by the situation as everything. Constantine and Zatanna were nowhere to be seen, no one really knew where you had sent them when you detected their magic when you went out into the yard to attack Tim. Jason ran to stand between you and Arthur and Victor, he didn't want any of them to get close to you, he didn't trust them anymore and before you could understand what was happening, you reacted.
“STOP!!” you cry out.
Tim didn't have enough time to process what happened next, too busy processing the pain in his ribs like Bruce had taught him, he heard your scream and then when he got up your magic had spread all over the yard, like a rope that stretched around you. For a second Tim didn't understand the gravity of the situation. It was a beautiful second, because for that second Tim held out hope that he wouldn't have to do what Bruce told him he would have to do at the end. When that moment ended, he realized that there would be no happy ending, maybe that option never existed. After all, you wouldn't have your son back and they were the ones you'd have to lose him to twice. So it was time to do what had to be done. He glanced at Jason, standing a few feet from him, and Jason looked back at him.
Dick watched the scene standing directly opposite Tim's. It was like he was awake for the first time all week, he knew things were getting out of hand. He, along with Tim, Bruce, Alfred and Jason were the ones the magic didn't touch when you screamed in utter stress and overwhelmed by the amount of things going on, the magic had spread like an aggressive current, wrapping himself around the necks of everyone present once before continuing on his way to the next person. It was while you covered your ears and squeezed your eyes shut without much thought, wanting to isolate yourself from the situation you were in. You were tired, you just wanted everything to stop for a moment, for everyone to shut up.
It was when the silence came that you realized your mistake. You looked up slowly, tears formed in your eyes, you saw how your magic surrounded the necks of those who were your friends. They had done bad things. They want to take your Jason away from you, but it wasn't because they were bad. They were your friends and they thought they were doing you good. They just didn't understand, but they were good, you still knew that and were sure of it. And you were hurting them.
“Mom” Dick's voice called you. you looked at him. The magic disappeared from everyone's necks, and then they disappeared from sight without even making a sound, as if they had never been there. In a sleeping limbo they were now, until you needed them or until it was all over.
“Dick” you said, tears falling freely, reaching your hands slowly towards him. Your son. Your little Dikie was there with you. You could barely move before he jumped into your arms. Neither of you was sure what would happen, you were scared, but you hugged him holding onto him, and he felt safe as you held him, because no matter the strange circumstances, you were there. His mom was there.
You saw how Bruce and Alfred were standing in the distance, next to the house, looking at the scene. The door he had landed against had been fixed, as if nothing had happened, neither were the marks on the floor from Clark's heat vision, or Diana's drag marks. Look at your husband, suddenly without a trace of glass on him and without any wound on his back. Everyone believed that he was a stoic man, that he could undergo the most horrible of tortures without blowing a whistle, not death or tragedy upset him. But as he stood there watching the scene, his eyes filled with tears as they had not in all the months since his son's death, as he came back suddenly to the moment he found his body, in the rubble, folded into a shape that was unnatural, with his eyes closed and his skin covered in bruises that would never heal.
During all these months without your youngest son, you and Bruce had drifted apart, not because you didn't love each other, but because you each got caught up in your own fantasy. You expected every morning that your son would return. All day, every day, you imagined how he would walk through the door and he would smile at you as only Jason knew how, he would ask you why you are crying and he would hug you. He would comfort you by saying that whoever it was that cruel person who had made his mother cry would deal with him, and he would say it with a tone so serious that it would make you laugh. He'll laugh with you. While Bruce clung to the idea that if he did his job well enough, if he took care of Tim, if he made sure to help Gotham p and at the same time make young Timothy live a full life, his son would finally visit him in dreams. It wouldn't be a nightmare, where he told her how much he hated him and that it was his fault he was dead. He would visit him to tell her that he had done well, that he had finished the job that both of them had started and that is why he was now at peace. But neither would ever happen.
Above the whisper of the wind, just for you to understand, Bruce had a thought, so pure and genuine that there was no way he wouldn't feel it too. I'm sorry, he whispered in his own mind, knowing that you would hear him. Me too, you replied with a sad smile over your eldest son's shoulder. War is over, Alfred thought, and felt he might as well cry. He would cry for the loss of his grandson, for the suffering of his son, he would cry for how no matter how much tea or sandwiches he had made you there they would all have ended up the same, in a fantasy where nothing bad had happened, accepting that it was time to return to home, even when the fantasy felt more like home now than the real world. It was time.
Tim led Jason back to the tree where they'd first met, the place where the burial was. When they got there she realized that Jason's appearance was again at odds with reality: he was fifteen years old, bright baby blue eyes, dimples in his cheeks, a red hoodie, and ripped jeans that hadn't been like that when you bought them, but they were his favorites.
“I have to go now” Tim told him, looking at him, and for a second he allowed himself to feel sad “But I need you to give something to your mom” he said pulling the backpack off his back and opening it, he looked Jason in the eye one last time before doing so. His eyes filled with tears and he allowed himself to think about what a life would be like with you as his mother, with Bruce as his father, with both showering him with love and attention the way Jason had enjoyed in life. He imagined what it would have been like if the boy before him was alive and was his older brother. He smiled sadly as he pulled the battered, torn, and still bloody Robin suit from his backpack, to offer it to Jason. Jason didn't look at him again, and Tim watched you approach in the distance, with the nerve of someone headed for his own death. Your eyes met his, and where Tim expected anger, disappointment, or sadness, he was met with a genuine tenderness that had never been directed at him. You made a silent gesture of thanks, stopping a few feet behind Jason. Tim felt relieved, you didn't hate him despite everything, he hoped that when it was all over it would continue like this.
He had admired you from the first time he had seen you on television when he was five years old, fighting alongside the rest of the Justice League and had cried when it was announced that the Scarlet Witch had died to save the world. He felt happy for the first time in a long time and looked at Jason one last time before, wondering if the boy ever knew how lucky he was to have you in life and death as his mother (Jason knew). He allowed himself the hope that in some time line, he would have that honor too, he could also be your son and have your love in life and death (Tim already had your love, but he didn't know it yet).
With that Tim Drake said goodbye to The Wayne´s Show for now and got lost in the woods, never to be seen by viewers anymore.
The suit in his hands was smooth, but there were burnt edges, which were rough against his soft hands that had never granted pain or labor. Jason moved slowly, staring at the garment, almost mesmerized, as if there were a piece of the puzzle in it, something intangible he couldn't quite figure out.
“Jay, baby” you called him, with a sweet but sad voice. Your son, your Jason, looked up from that cursed garment and looked at you “We need to talk-” Jay cut you off before you could say more and you almost thanked him for it, you wouldn't have known how to continue the conversation anyway.
“Mom” he said, dropping the garment in his hand to the floor, as if it meant nothing and then walking towards you, stepping on it as he passed without looking where it had fallen. That gesture made all the aversion you had towards that suit vanish, it didn't matter anymore “Mom-” his mouth opened a few times, it felt like the words were attacking his throat. Jason wanted to know, but he wasn't sure he wanted whatever it was he was going to do to get that answer. Noticing and giving him a reassuring smile, Jason released a heavy sigh that he didn't know had been saved and finally asked “Mom, what am I?”.
You walked toward him at a slow pace, admiring his features, the way his hair refused to be completely straight or curled, the way he stood almost level with you despite only being fifteen. You put your hands on his cheeks, feeling the softness of his skin under your hands once more, and looked into his eyes before answering.
“Jason Peter Todd. You, my dearest boy, are the piece of the Darkhold that lives in me. A body that believes based on what we live together, and what we don't too. You are my sadness and my hope. But most importantly, you're my love and you will always be” you explained. The information entered Jason's mind like a gentle ocean wave washing away tracks in the sand, but this time the wave filled empty space with information, and filled in all the illogicalities in his memory and also the memories that weren't there, the ones that he hadn't really lived. But the circumstances of his own existence hit him, out of the corner of his eye he could give up as if the world closed around him, but he wasn't scared.
“Do we have to say goodbye?” He asked you in the same way that he always asked if it was time to go to sleep, to then ask for five more minutes of light to read another chapter of his favorite book.
“Yes, son, we have to” you told him with regret, feel your tears fall down your cheeks again “But we'll say hello again someday” you put his face closer to yours, holding it gently in your hands “I swear” you promised him before looking at him for the last time, then you closed your eyes to kiss his forehead and so the inevitable arrived.
Unlike the other time, Jason didn't feel afraid or terrified at the idea of “dying”, because his mom had made him a promise and she always kept them. So he enjoyed the sensation of your smell flooding his nose, of your hands when his face with such care and delicacy, of your lips kissing your forehead, before his existence dissolved. His last thought was that, although he did not quite understand what his first life had been like, or understood the memories he had of it, he hoped that if he lived more lives you would continue to be his mother in each and every one of them.
Bruce found you, once the fog in his mind lifted and he realized there was no anomaly anymore, standing where Tim had left you. With your back to him, you held Jason's old Robin suit in your hands, you looked at it with a mixture of affection and sadness.Everything was over, but at the same time it was just beginning, just now you and your husband could properly process the joint loss of your son, as if right at that moment you both hit bottom in the deepest point of the ocean, meeting for the first time with the true cold and desolation of the situation. The fantasies of the miraculous return, of the dreams where they promise peace, of the sitcoms where at the end of the episode all the problems were solved no matter how serious they were, had ended. That would not happen. But now that reality no longer sinks you like quicksand, and as you and Bruce hold each other in front of Jason's grave that day was the first time you both felt so genuinely alive in a long time.
You were alive. Your family was alive. And that was something as beautiful as it was tragic, the purest magic in the world from your point of view.
Although the idea that life itself is magic is one that your husband has always discussed with you since the day you met. But that could be a story for another time.

Still thinking about The Quick and the Dead (1995)
It got lost/forgotten because it came out very soon after The Unforgiven, which is a very similar type of movie, also starring Gene Hackman, but which was given rave critical reviews. Personally I think that movie is way over-rated and The Quick and the Dead is a way better film than was ever thought at the time of its release.
The style is very Raimi-esque, comic book level story, mish mash of tropes, with lots of flashy camera work and effects. The story subverts The Man with No Name trope making it The Woman with No Name. It took what Cat Ballou startedin the 60s, but got bogged down with misogyny and 60s non-sense: make a deadly, sexy female action hero. I also really appreciate that the script didn't just make her cold and ruthless like Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood's versions of these characters. Her character was afraid and was absolutely traumatized. Stone's acting is very good. She telegraphs childlike terror in all of her scenes with Hackman. This is her bogey man and she's shitless trying to face him down. A big part of the plot here was stolen from Once Upon a Time in the West, with Stone playing the Bronson role. You actually have a sense that she might fail, and the movie does a great job setting that up for a plot twist.
Another unique aspect of the Quick and the Dead: there is no love story. There is no attempt to give Stone a romantic relationship with any of the male stars of the movie, which I don't think is very common at all. Westerns always have a love interest, sometimes two or three, but here there was none to speak of. Love or sex not being a motivating factor for a female character? It shouldn't be unique, but it very much is. She is driven by revenge. As Roberts Blossom's "Doc" character explains, she can't start to live until she gets revenge.
Raimi is a more than competent director of actors I think because all of the scenes between the ensemble of Hackman, Crowe, Stone and DeCaprio are great. These are all great parts, and all their scenes together in various combinations are really great. Roy Scheider and stallwart of the Western Woody Strode (his last film) are present and he gets a fantastic send-off.
That the movie looked great, moved quickly and was full of the usual Riami wizzbang was really icing on the cake.

And that's all I can remember Right about now , Yes I'm reading 10 books or more simultaneously, no I do not have an explanation to that.
My main Genre is Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery and thriller, But I do love widening my scope so do recommend me any books you might think may pique my interest. 😁
My reader side also includes me obsessing over podcasts, I'm including my Favourite podcasts here too, and I assure you they are amazing!
Podcasts for you - I usually listen to them on Spotify and love True crime, mystery, Murder mysteries etc. Here they are -
Rotten Mango by Stephanie Soo (True Crime) - I wouldn't suggest you listen to this if you get disgusted or scared easily, I usually am not affected by these kinds of things and I was still very disturbed, The first 2 episodes are quite... I would suggest you research about it more before you listen to it.
Baking a Murder by Stephanie Soo (Books and movies) - This podcast is again one of my favourites, the way she explains the movie is just so immersive, if you want to understand a story but don't have time to sit down and read the book/watch the movie then this is for you.
7 Suspects by Cryptic Radio(Murder Mystery ) - OH MY GOD, holy- this is probably one of the best mystery podcasts I've ever listened to, tbh you think you know what is going on and till the very end that is kinda sorta true, but then in the like the last 5 moments the plot twist so intense you are left sinking on to the floor thinking "What just happened", listen to, right now.
Magnus Archives by Rusty Quill (Story? horror? not sure what it comes under) - I've started listening to it after getting intense FOMO and can confirm it's going pretty well, I mean I have a LOT to catch up to, but I can say, it's caught my interest.
Murder in HR by Caspian Studios (Murder Mystery) - Again OH MY GOD, again, this is one of the best mystery podcasts I've ever listened to, I mean yeah, the gym ad thingy gets a little bit annoying but the rest of the story compensates for it, again, you think you know where you are going, again up until the very end you just don't know what the hell is going on, and again (Do you see a pattern) when the mystery hits you you are flabbergasted, soo I suggest give it a listen(also kinda obsessed with the soundtrack).
Murphy's Inc. by 97toNow Productions (Scifi mystery) - This is one of the better ones, I'm still listening to it and it's just actually really good, It's kinda the thing you listen to once a day, kinda relaxing (for me at least )
Ok, so this one is a bit different, there is a podcast Caso 63: Enigma: Spotify studios but it's in Spanish which I still haven't quite learnt and I didn't know this existed. I was recommended 2063 theke Esechi by Spotify Studios which is in Bengali which I do, in fact, understand. It was voiced by one of my favourite actors and I was absolutely in love with it, It feels like I wasn't listening to a podcast but a movie and there is so much confusion and so many twists. This podcast has been made in other languages as well, the other two ik are Case 63 (In English) and Virus 2062(In Hindi). So check it out!!
Treat by C13Features (Horror, gory) - This is like a podcast movie, it's around 2 hours long maybe? this is pretty good I would say, you can give it a listen.
Welcome to Night Vale by Night Vale Presents (Absurdity?) - I really don't think I need to say anythi_-_- HAIL THE GLOWCLOUD.
Morning Cup of Murder by Morning Cup of Murder (True Crime) - True crime yk...
The Sounds of Nightmares by Little Nightmares - Bandai Namco Europe (Horror, gore, mystery) - Uhh it's a little unnerving how detailed the actions of characters are As if they were compensating for the fact that there are no visuals, but it was pretty good I would say(Also like the soundtrack)
My writer side- My most popularly known name is Jeah (jee - ah) and I'll be using that here, I am a new author getting started on writing. I still have a looong way to go but, I enjoy writing very much even though my mind and body are definitely not on par with my will to write which is why my second unintended hobby is procrastination. Most of the time that I'm here on Tumblr I am supposed to be doing some other work, like right now.
Anywaysss here are my current WIP's
Mirror My Way - This is my first and only properly published Book. Tbh Not very proud of it, I did it in a hurry, because I took part in the school's Writing program, did nothing the whole year, and finished it in the last week, I honestly think It had potential but I kinda ruined it trying to finish it within the deadline. I wouldn't recommend you read it, It was supposed to be a part of a duology or trilogy but I think I'm just gonna let it sit in the corner for now, let it be there, think upon its mistakes, it did wrong 😤.
Tots and Coffee - Now this one I like better, this was actually inspired by the Scam Caller post here on Tumblr. Kinda had a sudden burst of inspiration and Wrote the first Chapter and since then it's still going pretty strong. Unlike the previous one, it is there on Ao3 if you wish to read it 😁.
I dunno what to call this but I occasionally write short stories in the replies of Pinterest pins when I come across writing prompts. This isn't a wip exactly but , I once posted the starting of a story and jokingly wrote "Continue-!" at the end thinking that would be the end of it, but someone did eventually continue it and that led to a string of events and a very weirdly Eledritch, beautiful Frankestine story formation, I'll be posting it slowly here on Tumblr as well, so keep checking!
Forgot to put it in earlier, but check out @the-writers-corner-inc It's a group blog I initiated, and you can find lots of fun stories, prompts, visuals and more!!
And that's about it, I don't what else to say, but while you're here, grab a cup of coffee or tea, pick out a book and read a page, I'm right here on the other side with a book as well, let's be booky buddies 😄😄😃😃🍵☕

Getting Ready (1) | Getting Off (3) | Getting Good (4) | Fic Masterlist
-
Dinner was wonderful, a little bougie but delicious, and the four of you passed your dishes around to each other, laughing and chatting. You had chosen to sit across from Ted, thinking you’d have a better chance of keeping your hands to yourself, but it only made it easier for the two of you to cut your eyes at each other. A smirk from you when Ted described his meal as “finger-lickin' good,” a raised eyebrow from him when Keeley asked if the two of you would be joining her and Roy for a nightcap at the bar next door and you told her that you and Ted had plans.
As dinner came to a close, you brushed a kiss on Ted’s cheek as you rounded the table and told him you just needed to run to the bathroom before you left. Keeley joined you and touched up her lipstick while you were in the stall.
“I love your dress, where’d you get it babe?” Keeley called from the sinks and you chuckled as you exited the stall and answered.
“I don’t know actually, Ted bought it for me.”
“Jesus, Ted knows how to dress a woman,” Keeley exclaimed. “I mean I love the gifts I get from Roy, but if I let him dress me I’d look funeral-ready. Like, for my own funeral. That dress is gorgeous. You’re not coming out with us because you’re going to shag him fucking silly aren’t you?”
You blushed, but nodded confidently, sliding a hand down the silky material. “What better reward for a job well done?”
“I’ve seen how he’s been looking at you tonight,” Keeley smirked as she held the door open for you. “Like you’re a rare steak and he’s a hungry lion. Which is saying something because he usually has such panda energy.”
“Oh my Ted’s a teddy bear,” you joked to Keeley as the two of you approached your dates. You leaned into her ear to add quietly, “afterwards.”
You couldn’t remember the ride home, considering you spent much of it with your eyes closed, your lips slotting against each other’s repeatedly. The two of you tried to keep things relatively appropriate, considering you were in the back of an Uber, but it was getting difficult to restrain what you’d been feeling since Ted had helped you slide into your dress. He pressed close to your back as you unlocked the door and you shuddered, couldn’t wait for him to slide it back off.
The two of you hurried into the bedroom but then slowed, the anticipation thick in the air. You knew Ted could be a tease but you also knew he was as wound up as you were and you thought the two of you were on the same page about fast and hard. But instead you removed your heels and watched with bated breath as Ted shrugged off his jacket and unbuttoned the cuffs of his shirt to roll them up his forearm. Casually, as if the two of you were just about to cook dinner or play a game, something far from what you had in mind for the evening. He kept his face impassive, and moved to loosening his tie, the two of you still standing a good distance apart.
You smiled sweetly at him, he really did look so handsome, especially with his sleeves rolled up like that emphasizing the tone of his forearms and the deftness of his long fingers. You twisted your own arm behind you to pull down the zipper of your dress, but Ted crossed into your space in two large steps, pulling your hand away by the wrist and looking down at you.
“Now, darlin’ I’m not in the habit of letting other people unwrap my gifts,” Ted spoke calmly and you let out an involuntary whimper. A possessive, demanding Ted was rare but not at all unwelcome. He released your hand to finish removing his tie, not unknotting it, just slipping it over his head and smoothing his collar back down before he took both of your hands and slipped them through the neck, pulling the maroon material taut and restraining you. You’d done this before, you both liked it and you were both very aware that you could easily pull yourself free if you wanted to but you had no plans to do so. Ted still caught your eye to check-in and you nodded, so he placed both his hands on your hips and walked you back towards the bed, rucking your dress up before he helped you sit.
You watched as his eyes trailed a path down your body before his hands followed it: one hand stroking down your shoulder as the other gripped lightly at the side of your neck, his thumb stroking along your jawline before it tugged your bottom lip from between your teeth. You licked at the pad of his thumb and he smirked as he slid it slowly between your lips and you sucked.
“Good girl,” he said softly, meaningfully and you moaned. The hand not at your mouth traced along your collarbone and then down to your center, pressing lightly against the dampness of your underwear and you gasped. “You know, all I could think about at dinner was gettin’ you home and out of this lovely dress. But gosh, sweetheart you look so good I think it’s only right I make you come apart while you’re still in it.” As he spoke he shifted your underwear to the side and began gliding his middle finger against you, making slick, obscene noises. You released his thumb fully and threw your head back, relishing in the gentle touch but needing more.
“Is that okay with you?” Ted asked, not stopping his motions and you nodded.
“Yes.”
He quickly moved his hand to the back of your neck, his fingers weaving into your hair and pulling your head back down to meet his gaze. Your eyes shot open at the slight show of force and you were met with his blown pupils, his hungry expression.
“Yes sir,” he demanded.
“Yes sir,” you repeated breathlessly and as soon as the words left your mouth he slid two fingers inside you, working you up embarrassingly fast. He was wasting no time bringing you to the edge and began using his thumb to circle your clit. Your hands still restrained in front of you and his hand still supporting your neck meant you were left to do nothing but moan and beg for him to make you cum. It was his words that did it, his body leaning in close so he could speak directly into your ear, “Be good and cum for me, darlin’.”
“FUCK,” you called out, your eyes slamming shut as you came hard against Ted’s fingers. He kissed along your neck and jaw whispering praises against your skin as you came back down and you quickly tilted your head to capture his lips with yours as he took his fingers away. Normally when you and Ted were in this space, him taking on a more dominating role, you would ask permission first but you needed to express the love you felt for him and he could tell, meeting you eagerly.
Ted leaned back, taking your face in his hands. “You’re so good for me. You okay? Color?”
“I’m perfect, green,” you paused and looked up at him seriously. “Thank you, sir.”
Ted groaned and kissed you again as he loosened the tie from your wrists before he pulled you to standing. He reached around and unzipped the dress finally, letting it fall to the floor. You gestured to Ted’s buttons, “Can I?”
Ted nodded, stood still and let you unbutton his shirt and pull it from his pants. He shrugged the shirt off his shoulders and you fell to your knees to undo his pants. Ted watched for a moment, letting you pull his boxers down but stopping you from putting your mouth on him by lifting your chin up with his pointer finger.
“As wonderful as that pretty little mouth of yours would be, I just can’t wait darlin’. Bed. Face down.”
You were giddy as you scrambled to follow Ted’s instructions. It might seem like it was all for him when the two of you did this, but he knew how much you loved having him pressed against your back, being able to feel him deep inside of you as you reached behind you to grip his hair, holding him close so he could kiss against your neck. He stepped out of his remaining clothes at the side of the bed and climbed up behind you, stroking his hands along your sides with light teasing touches, but making no move to enter you, even though his arousal was obvious.
“Please Ted,” you whined, wiggling against him.
“Oh, not sir?” Ted chuckled darkly before bringing a hand down sharply on your ass, everything feeling more intense when you couldn’t see each other’s eyes.
You yelped but there was a smile in your voice when you responded, “Oh, is that the game we’re playing?”
“Depends,” Ted kissed your shoulder, “color?”
“Green,” you said immediately and he brought his hand down again, making you whimper, before he pushed inside you.
The stretch of him was perfection and so was the weight of him against you and the grip he had on your hip that would certainly leave marks in the morning. His other hand was wrapped around your waist, pinned between your body and the bed so he could press against your clit with every stroke. The two of you were so worked up from the teasing that had started well before dinner that you knew neither of you would last long. You could feel your orgasm creeping up on you, but it still caught both you and Ted by surprise, the sudden constriction of your muscles making Ted curse in your ear as you cried out.
After a few more strokes, Ted groaned, “I’m close, baby.” He shifted like he was going to move off of you and you pulled his hair hard to keep him in place.
“Come inside me, please,” you whined. Even you couldn’t believe that a third peak was steadily approaching, but you knew Ted coming inside you would absolutely send you over the edge. Ted caught you by surprise when he brought his hand down against you again. “Come inside me, please, sir,” you begged and Ted immediately picked up his pace again, slamming into you as the two of you moaned and whined in unison until Ted’s release, followed almost instantly by your own.
Ted pulled out slowly but didn’t move away, turning onto his side and tucking you into his chest to be his little spoon.
“You okay, baby? You were so good for me. So good,” Ted whispered, stroking his hands lovingly along your side.
“Mmm,” you smiled, “so were you. You’re always so good.” You reached for Ted’s hand and brought his knuckles up to your lips. “Thank you for a beautiful dress, and a fantastic evening, my love.”
“Oh, trust me the pleasure is all mine,” Ted laughed before pulling away slightly. You turned in his arms to face him and he kissed you sweetly. “Wanna get a shower with me? Or want me to clean you up here?”
It was your usual routine, and he took it seriously. The care Ted took with you after you’d been submissive for him was almost as rewarding as the orgasms he gave you.
“Bath, please?”
“You got it angel,” Ted kissed you once more before he left to run the bath and you followed behind him after a few minutes to find that he’d managed to not only run a warm, sweet smelling bath in that time but also light a number of candles. He smiled at you and held out a hand to help you into the tub, and you slid forward so he could sit behind you. He washed your body carefully, telling you everything he liked about it as he did.
Ted toweled you off when the two of you were done, humming a familiar tune as he moved around you, dropping to his knees to dry off your legs. He dressed himself quickly before helping you into a set of clean pajamas and you wrapped your arms around his neck, tucking your head under his chin and letting him sway you gently, still humming.
“You take very good care of me, Ted,” you whispered sleepily against his chest.
“Thank you for lettin’ me,” Ted said quietly, pressing a kiss against your temple as he swayed you over to the bed and helped you under the covers.

tempted to rub Ted’s feet so the man can relax for once
I've said it before and I say it again, this man deserves to be pampered. And since he's never been pampered before, your touch and love absolutely makes the man melt. Let's gooo!
---
Relationship: Ted Lasso x reader
Warnings: None, all comfort
---
Ted was home on the couch with a bottle of beer when you walked in the door.
His hair was mussed, his eyes tired, as he stared at the TV.
"Babe?" you ask, taking off your coat. "You OK?"
Ted sighs, barely turns his head to look at you.
"Bad day."
His optimism and bright eyes are missing entirely. Something happened. You move cautiously to the couch on the other end.
"You wanna talk about it?"
Ted tilts his head as if he's thinking about it.
"I don't know if I'm deliverin' what I need to for this team," he says, twisting the neck of the beer bottle between his fingers. "Boss wants a win, and while I can see the boys gettin' better, I can't seem to get them above a draw."
You sigh and reach over to touch his thigh.
"I just feel like I'm failin' everybody lately," he murmurs, and the thought that Ted feels like he's failing at all is enough to make you cry.
"C'mere, gimme those piggies," you say, encouraging his legs up so he can lay back and relax.
"Why?"
"Because. I'm gonna rub those feet and we're gonna talk this out. Lay it all on me, babe. I'm all ears."
He smiles a little, setting his beer bottle down on the end table next to him, bringing his feet into your lap where you strip off the socks.
Your fingers and thumbs work tight circles in his arch, on the balls of his feet, his heels, his ankles. He sighs and smiles a little more.
"First of all, Teddy, you aren't failin' a damn soul," you start, concentrating on one foot at a time.
"You found this team argumentative, uncommunicative, and mediocre at best when you got here," you add. "And despite the fact they're not absolutely trouncing the competition, they are playing better together. They have comradery they didn't have before."
He nods, letting his body relax into the cushions while your hands work over his feet.
"And second, Rebecca is a strong, independent woman with a vengeance against Rupert. And you know why she brought you on board. While she's not using you as a pawn, she's still thirsty for blood," you continue, switching feet now. "I'm sure she wants a win, but deep down, she knows that's not what you're about. And eventually, she'll let this Rupert crap go."
Ted nods.
"I don't know about that. I mean, maybe I'm just not good at this," he says.
"Nonsense, hush that butt," you reply, lobbying his own words back at him, making him giggle.
"I'm serious. You gave Nate a chance to coach, and he brought skills to the team you didn't know were there. Rebecca certainly didn't know. You've got Roy and Beard, and they've got you: The nucleus of it all..."
"Yeah, European football may not have been where you saw your life going, but you're here for now and you're bringing the magic with you."
He smiles, reaching up to stop your hands and lace his fingers with yours.
"Darlin'...I can't tell ya...how nice it is to have someone who's listenin'," he says, almost with tears in his eyes.
You smile and squeeze his hand.
"You deserve to be heard. And you deserve to relax. And you deserve to be pampered, and as God is my witness, I will drag you to a spa one of these days to show you what it's all about..."
He grins at this, too, nodding. You pick up the remote.
"How about a movie to take the stress off? Or I could take you to the bedroom and work on your back with these magic hands," you joke, holding up your fingers and wiggling them. Ted chuckles.
"I'll never turn down being in bed with you," he says with a low drawl, standing up and holding his hands out. "C'mon. Your turn."
---
I love the idea of actually LISTENING to Ted and helping him through his problems. I know Beard tries but he really needs someone to prop him up and help him realize how valuable he is. Thanks for this prompt, friend. I really enjoyed it.
Also, added a little link to my Spa Day fic that ties perfectly to this.

hello did you say something about a lotr style retelling of campaign one???? if you're willing please do tell
Hi anon - this one likely won't be written for ages yet, I'd be happy to <3
So it's a very amorphous idea (like my Filles du roi AU) because I want to reread the books front to back before touching the project. But the ghist of it is that it'd be a mythological retelling of Campaign 1 with a similar framework to LOTR - a book built from the accounts of a few characters and them getting accounts from their friends / likely flat-out imagining some shit (hard to get a Sauron POV), written in prose of Tolkien's style. Characters will sing beautiful songs mid-battle, the hearts of men and their like are fundamentally good, and etc.
Here's the thing: Scanlan is the primary author, here, so he deliberately exaggerated and switched up a lot for the sake of the story. It might actually follow TLOVM's plot more closely than canon, because it already does a lot of the streamlining he would want to do.
I figure he only publishes this in his old age - when only he, Keyleth and Pike are left - and the girls both think the rest of the party would be delighted by this story so they don't go out of their way to correct it. Also Scanlan clearly worked hard on it with all the prose, illustrations, poetry and songs - it's a love letter to Vox Machina. (Some sections are from Vex when she was still around, with notes she got from Percy's journals. Tbh half the poetry is his, and all the Celestial.) There are also probably contributions (coughcorrectionscough) by Keyleth and Pike.
BUT ENOUGH WITH THE SAD SHIT
The main problem would be finding the right balance of LOTR elements and nailing the writing style. But I'm excited!
My thoughts so far include:
Given this is Scanlan writing this story, he and Pike are the main characters, taking up elements of Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Making them get separated and be present for the reclaiming of Whitestone (battle of Pelennor Fields, Merry & Pip) and their bond being pivotal to defeating the dark lord (Frodo and Sam. Pike doing the 'but I can carry you' thing <33)
Percy just... is Aragorn. It's stupid perfect for him: heir to an empire fallen from grace heavily associated with white and trees, hello?? Except all his names are part of his full name, not a host of aliases and titles.
Vex would likely be a combination of Faramir (ranger of Gondor, daddy issues galore) and Éowyn (I AM NO MAN, close friendship to one of the hobbits/gnomes, Trinket could be her horse). Both of them have a close bond with a brother that makes things absolutely heartbreaking. Except given she’s both Faramir and Éowyn she gets to smooch Percy-Aragorn, and their roles in the House of Healing are swapped (true love's crit).
Vax would likewise steal elements from Frodo (tragic bearer of the burden, cannot really go home) and Boromir :)
Keyleth and Grog neatly slot in with Percy as the Three Hunters. Grog and Percy n Kiki and Grog friendship time <33
Scanlan compresses the timeline so multiple great forces of evil act at the same time. Vecna is obviously Sauronlike, with a great evil land of evil. Undecided if the Briarwoods are Saruman (manipulation, sorta serve the great evil for their purposes) or Denethor (stewards of the white city, motivated by despair and in a twisted way love). Conclave could be akin to the Nazgul, or Saruman (Raishan namely, plus Saruman of the Many Colors = Chroma Conclave).
Look getting the balance Right between LOTR and CR and TLOVM is gonna be a bitch is what I'm saying, but taking some elements from LOTR would make it more fun.
Anyways apparently the theatrical edition doesn't include Éomer's cry of agony when he finds Éowyn on the battlefield???? Or Pippin looking for Merry amidst the corpses long after dark? I only ever watch the Extended Edition so im Heartbroken :c
Anyways watch this and think of the Twins (Éomer and Éowyn), Percy (Aragorn), and Pike & Scanlan (Merry & Pip):

Sorry to turn your blog into the dog pound ask game but just to offer up an alternative read, while I think there are plenty of times Kendall was not a good or even decent big brother I actually didn’t read the dog pound as super sinister because I think it’s actually kind of (at least conceptually) a common game kids actually do play at that age. While I understand the interpretative view that harmless things that are normal in other families are often twisted funhouse versions in the Roy family, I think there’s a valid reading that this wasn’t one of those times. While S3 was airing Kieran Culkin gave a great interview where he talked about dog pound and described it as something rewritten in Roman’s mind. (“The dog-cage moment, Roman had rewritten it as he had been bullied by Kendall. I don’t think he ever was, but I think there was something in him as a kid that felt like a victim that as an adult he has tried to process and make into something else.”) Apparently, he and Jeremy agreed on that interpretation, and I think that’s a fair way to read it (noting of course everyone is allowed their own interpretation and there is no one/right/best way to interpret a scene). Personally, I viewed the hug and sibling brawl in S4 as variations on a worsening lifelong theme – semi-new steps in a progression as opposed to one-to-one evidence of how the characters behaved in childhood but that could totally just be me…anyway, happy to provide a link to the Kieran interview if anyone is interested. I just feel that in all the dog pound discourse I almost never see anyone reference Kieran’s take on it which I do think is interesting as it really goes to that whole “what even is the past” thing the show likes to play around with but in a slightly different direction than I usually see on tumblr.
Ah right, that's a valid point too. Tbh I think I do tend to pick and choose when I factor an actor's interpretation into my reading, and maybe even some part of me is weirdly overcompensating for being a Kendall girl by fixating on him doing fucked up stuff.
At the same time though, while I do believe things had gotten much worse than they'd ever been after Logan's death because of how he and Roman had both differently felt compelled to fill that hole, I don't really see it as all that unprecedented either. Like, there was him brushing off Roman being upset about Shiv saying one day he's got to fuck something, Kendall saying "he loves it" and that he's probably jerking off over it, there was the "who'd you suck off to get out" when Roman came back from the hostage situation, the famous "you're not a real person", etc.
But also, I think part of how I view Kieran's take is that Roman is recasting Kendall as the primary aggressor in their childhood because he happens to be a safer target of his anger than Logan or any of the other people who may have hurt him or made him feel inferior. After all, he did feel comfortable enough with Kendall as a little boy being taught how to pee standing up. So it's not that he was ever purely an abusive presence in Roman's life, but these things are rooted inside of them and come out whether they mean it or not.

I’m sorry for like constantly filling up your inbox with question but I’ve figured out what Roy and Garth’s little misunderstandings were so you don’t have to answer that ask.
I also would like to admit that I think that I’m kind of a Roy.
Bare with me…
I often trash on my friends at any given opportunity. Any opening for a snide remark, any mean comment I could possibly think of in two seconds. If it’s clever and witty then I’ll squeeze it in and for any other person what I’m doing is seen as mean and for a while… they also considered me as rude.
I never really realized that I was actually overstepping someone’s boundaries. This is more geared to one specific person and I felt like really bad about it… because… the whole reason I was being like that in the first place is because I like them and I want to be close to them…
Like I considered them different from everyone else - I felt like I related to them and I felt like they could understand me - like they could understand the worst parts of me and if they over time got conditioned to being around me even when I’m like that then they could be the type of person who I can show all my ugly to as well.
It’s like weird - I don’t know how to describe it. In my head I seriously think that what I’m doing is like extremely and so obviously affectionate and caring. It’s like me insulting them is actually the most hilarious thing in the world because me thinking low of them would be the biggest joke to end all jokes… because I don’t think low of them - I really like them and I thought that was obvious.
I guess it’s easier to show that in a special little game made for them then it is to do it in a normal way because if I do that I’ll be showing my ass because if I was affectionate in a normal way and they didn’t like me then it’d kind of crush me and if I do it this way and they still like me than perhaps it’s mutual.
God, to think when they communicated to me that they didn’t think we were close enough for that then I felt like a damn idiot because I felt closer to them than literally anyone else. :(
It’s very twisted but my POINT is that lowkey Roy probably really likes Garth if my situation at all resembles that.
Ah, classic preschool bs, if he’s mean to you for no reason than it means he likes you but it is very true.
I think that people don’t understand RoyGarth because they refuse to see the implications. It’s not a bad or confusing ship at all. It’s misunderstandings and if they truly hated each other’s guts its not like that will ever effectively take away from the quality of the ship.
What Roy does for Garth is almost inherently affectionate and almost romantic seen through the right lenses.
Sorry for the tangent. This isn’t me venting AT ALL by the way - I’m just trying to connect Roy’s behavior to something and I know myself better than anyone so!
Hey! No worries, anon! I actually LOVE getting asks, and I'm always super appreciative for every one I get! I'm sorry also that I'm so slow to answer them. I get so nervous answering things sometimes because I don't want to say the wrong thing. I've been known to go and re-read whole series just in case so I can give the best response I can. But that does mean that sometimes asks sit around for a bit... oops. This ain't about me though, so!
Thank you genuinely for sending this! I think it's a really interesting take on this whole thing from someone who has clearly analyzed their own actions/feelings, and gives us a perspective that we may not otherwise see.
I do think it's really intriguing, both in real life and in fiction, how differently two people can view something and how actions can be interpreted/misinterpreted.
Again, thank you for being willing to share this! (And as a side note, I still am planning on answering your other ask anyway, but maybe as a comprehensive look at Roy and Garth's interactions)

DHMIS tv episodes are parallel to the web episodes
I've watching a lot of don't hug me I'm scared content on YouTube. While watching I've noticed something that I'm not to sure anyone has noticed and that is the 6 tv episodes seem to be in parallel in the web series and I'm going to go through each of them but first lasts start with what Don't hug me I'm scared actually is.
Don't Hug Me I'm scared to appears a children's program where the three main characters, Red guy, yellow guy and duck learn a subject. However there's a twist, episode goes into a dark path. It's like if seasame street deciced to show the uncomfortable reality involving Time or Love. The tv series makes a lot of references when it comes to the animation itself like Postman Pat, Seasame Street etc.
In episode one called "Jobs", the scene starts with the trio in the kitchen which is similar to how the 1st youtube video started. Duck is upset that they don't have anything to do until he turns to the briefcase whose the teacher for this episode. The briefcase teaches them the wonders of jobs and how you can be anything you want to be. This is similar with the sketchbook teaching them about being creative and using your creative mind to do whatever they want. However, the trio don't have a say in what job and dropped off in a some power company while in the web series, Sketchbook doesn't approve when one has their own idea involve getting creative.
Episode two in "Death", it starts with the trio in their living room sitting on their chairs which is similar to how TIME started. The teacher is coffin to teach them about death while they are getting ready for Duck's funeral. Time and Death co-respond with each other because Time is a precious tool where you should handle it carefully because you know when it will be the last. After Duck's funeral, red guy and yellow guy go home where they feel the emptiness and start to remember the memories involving duck which is what time can be.
Episode three episodes has teachers who are actually manipulators and teach the trio the meaning of 'love' and family'. Yellow guy is also the main target as well. In the tv episode, Lily and Todney tells them how great family is but the whole point it's only acceptable to the family your born into. While the web series, Shrignold teaches yellow guy that love is only acceptable through religion and following one religion. They mentioned the love between a man and a woman is only acceptable.
Episode 4 starts them in the living room but I believe it's reminisce to the dining room in the 4th video. Colin The Computer is in this which parrallels with Colin being introďuced in the 4th video. Technology friendship can co-respond with each other when we look at when yellow guy distant himself and is around his brain friends who care about him more than his friends in real life. This is similar to people being more connected with their digital friends because they feel like they understand them more. Red guy and duck also used the computer to figure out what's wrong with yellow guy by going to website that is probably inaccurate. The 4th episode and the 4th youtube video also goes from outside of the real world. They also both show that they're on set.
The last two episodes as well as the last two series don't really parallel to each other with the lessons. But rather are more narrative driven episodes into understanding what exactly is going on. It also revealed that one whose pulling the strings has connection to yellow guy. In the web series,Roy is yellow guy's father who was made him as the main target. While in the tv series,it's lesely who may be yellow guy's mother pulling the strings.

Would love it if in any of your Roy/Jaime fics, Roy does that special trick with his hips to give his dick a curve like he mentioned to Keeley once. I just picture how proud and pleased Roy would be as he makes Jaime come undone and leave him incoherent.
Ha! do you know I hadn't really thought of Roy and his magical curved dick and Jamie, and now I can't stop!
This can go either of two ways:
Jamie doesn't know about these rumours or, like me, has completely forgotton about it, so when Roy does finally do it... well it's a yowser of a surprise (and the best Jamie's ever had).
Or, Jamie's heard about it, heard the rumour, heard it from Keeley, and demands Roy for his magic dick trick. Roy being Roy tells Jamie he only does it for Good Boy Jamie (doesn't actually tell him he'll do it for Bratty Boy Jamie, so it's still a yowser of a surprise when he does it).
"Oh," Jamie gasps as Roy angles it just right. "Oh. Fuck, Roy!"
"Want me to stop?" Roy breathes out against his skin.
"No," Jamie grunts, twists, reaches behind to bat at Roy's arm where it rests against the side of Jamie's head. "No. Don't you fucking dare! Do it again."
Jamie wiggles his bum at Roy, pushing up at him.
Roy laughs. The fucker sounds delighted at how undone Jamie sounds.
"Don't get fucking smug about it," Jamie mutters. "Just telling ya to get on with it before you get too tired to finish, grandad."
"Such a brat," Roy murmurs.
Roy does it again.
Roy's face (that Jamie can't see)

So my friend, @stormkitty97, and I were voice chatting last night, trying to finish our outline for the Belle/Vil crossover fic we were writing. When we got to a certain part of the outline, I joked about how Lizzie would reacted much differently in that situation. Then it dawned on us. Both Adriana, my own "Yuu", and Lizzie, the "Yuu" from our HP/TWST crossover fic that we share, are both like corrupted versions of Jasmine and Belle respectfully. Okay, neither of them are outright villains on par with the "Great Seven"—far from it, but they are similar to the Night Raven Students and share a fair bit of traits in common with who their love interests are based on.
Adriana and Jasmine share a lot in common. They are both rich girls, who grew up a privilege lifestyle. Both are feisty and sassy young women, who are quick on their feet, adventurous and empathic/kind to those dear to them. They are both cat people. Jasmine has Rajah while Adriana has a pet cat named Morgana back in her world. (Adriana also has some similar traits with Tiana and Cinderella, but Jasmine is the main one.)
There's a lot that separates them as characters as well. For one, Jasmine is an only child with a dimwitted, but loving father who wants what's best for her and a mother who died when she was young. Meanwhile Adriana was afforded a lot more freedom growing up and instead has a book smart older sister, a Japanese-Canadian stepfather who shares a lot in common with Roy Mustang from FMA and a mother who is a cutthroat business woman like an older, female Azul, who is the CEO of a huge company. There's also the fact that Jasmine is vaguely Swana or Desi (the movie is kinda a mishmash of both) while Adriana is a latina (half Mexican and Cuban/Sicilian) from Vancouver, Canada. Adriana is in her own head and analytical while Jasmine is much less hesitant about things. Adriana, thanks to growing up in a predominantly East-Asian and white environment and being autistic, has experienced things like racism and ableism that made her less naive about the world compared to Jasmine who grew up in a homogeneous environment where everyone is a similar racial background as her.
But what really sets these two apart are Adriana's dark, or twisted, if you will, traits. She's a former popular mean girl. As one could imagine, she wasn't the nicest person back then and did a lot of questionable things that came back to haunt her, which I can't get into because of spoilers. She was betrayed and knocked off her pedestal, leaving her isolated and alone.
Even the present, some of these traits remain. She's rather cunning, manipulative, deceitful and cut throat like Jafar. She is much more willing to go to dark lengths to get what she wants as long as it wouldn't hurt anyone dear to her or get her in trouble. While Jasmine has dabbled into that like with her pretending to seduce Jafar in the animated movie, Adriana is far worse. Not to show all of my cards, so to speak, that version of Scarabia will be much different thanks to these traits and being more actually helpful for Jamil. I can't ever see Jasmine doing the same thing. She also has her other darker moments as well, during Heartslabyul after Ace told her that Riddle is trending on social media for what he said, she says something along the lines of, "Good. He deserves it." I don't see Jasmine reacting like that. Then there's her internal monologue about her saying that the Great Seven had good traits and some of their less shitty actions like murder were in the right, which...yeah, speaks for itself.
While I can't analyze Lizzie nearly as well, since she's more of my co author's creation, she shares a lot in common with Belle. Both are rather smart, bookish, curious, outspoken and willing to stand up for themselves and those they care about.
But Lizzie also shares a lot with Grimhilde (The Evil Queen) as well. She's spiteful, petty, vindictive, selfish and quick to anger. She is much more willing to stoop to darker lengths than Belle. Not to go too much into spoiler territory for a future project, there will be a plot point where Vil will do something rather morally questionable, and Belle freaks out about it. But I think if Lizzie was in that same situation, she would've not only condone his actions, but also encouraged him to do worse.
I think those darker aspects are what makes them more suitable love interests for them in some regards. While we ship them with those princesses too, there is always a disconnect since they are more virtuous people who are naturally more off put by some of their more twisted actions. Lizzie gets Vil's jealousy and anger towards Neige, because she always felt the same way about her brother going to Hogwarts while she never could. She is much more understanding and supportive of him. While Adriana never grew up under far different circumstances than either of the Scarabia Dou (because Adriana's rich, but not Elon Musk or Kardashian levels like Kalim), she understands why Jamil is so angry at his current circumstances as a servant thanks to her being less naive about the world around her and compares his living situation to how shitty people trait their domestic workers. Because of her dark traits, she is much less off put by his darker actions that he will take to bring the Asim family down. But thanks to their lighter traits being similar to the princesses, they are still able to balance them out and bring out their good sides. With them doing the same in return, makes them both better people.
Idk, I just thought those parallels were interesting.

*New to me
Thoughts on the New to Me films:
New Year's Eve we watched RRR, a lot of fun, energetic, bright and action-packed. I enjoyed the way that little attention was given to the British characters. They were straight up villains in ill fitting ahistorical costumes, kind of like the way Indian/Asian characters are treated in Western films most of the time...$$$
New Year's Day we watched Peter's Friends, a drama/comedy from the early 90s starring all of the famous Cambridge Footlights. Big Chill-ish film set in a country house over the Christmas holidays. $$$
How to Get a Head in Advertising was weird and also really good. Had a similar vibe to Withnail and I (possibly because of Richard E. Grant, but also possibly the mixture of the surreal with the realistic). Quite stage-y in some ways but clever and savage in it's satire of life in the 80s. $$$
Frieda: Oh I loved this! Weird World War II melodrama about a German girl marrying a British boy and all the trouble it causes with his complex family situation. Such a stellar cast including the late, great Glynnis Johns. $$$$
The Quick and the Dead: I set my expectations quite low for this and was pleasantly surprised. I liked Sam Raimi's comic book-y take on gunfighters and esp. loved Sharon Stone's character. We love to see a female action hero with no love interest. A nice twist on the Man with no Name trope. Excellent cast as well with Russell Crowe, Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider and Woody Stroud in his final film. $$$
The Barefoot Contessa: Joseph Mankewitcz is one of the geniuses of old Hollywood but this ain't it, chief. Just kind of all of the place melodrama that makes no sense and relies too much on Ava Gardner looking amazing in technicolor in the South of France. A bit of a commentary on Grace Kelly who a few years earlier married minor royalty on the Riviera. Even Rossano Brazzi can't save this mess for me. $
Rhubarb: Two genres I usually kind of hate (family-friendly animal centered film, sports film) combined into one and it's actually a lot of fun. Ray Milland and a bunch of classic character actors as the baseball team (also Leonard Nemoy has a tiny part as a mobster) in this slight/ predictable romp. $$
The Birds: Woah, shit this was good. I should have known. Amazing tension created and Hitchcock just sells the surreal horror with lots of rear projection...so. much. rear. projection. $$$
House of Yes: How about House of NOPE. Ugh what a mess this was. Some good performances and intriguing story, but it was very stagey and I don't know why the 90s couldn't make a story about adult children and their parents without reducing everyone to cliches and stereotypes but this and Six Degrees of Separation are definitely guilty of that, but the latter is just a better film. $
Cassandra Cat: Takes a long time to get to the cat which given that this was a family film from the 60s might be a problem for some viewers, expecting a more cat-centric movie. Interesting riff on fairy tales from the Czech New Wave. Beautiful Demy-esque technicolor and settings make this 60s nonsense fly by. $$
The Day the Earth Caught Fire: 60s nuclear panic disaster film that really just shows the earth as it is now in the throws of global warming. Yikes. Thoughtfully written and well acted by a bunch of folks I'd never heard of. $$
For Me and My Gal: Directed by Busby Berkley and starring Gene Kelly and Judy Garland and set in the 1920s on the Vaudeville circuit, I was expecting a lot more fun, dancing, color, costumes etc. This is actually more of a black and white war time melodrama with some music shoved into it and the dancing is very rudimentary. (I think this is probably because Garland esp. at this stage wasn't in the same league with Gene Kelly and I think it would have been too noticable...). Filmed at the entry of America into WW2 this was quite a deliberate propaganda piece. $$
TLADOCB Commentary: I've watched this movie 20 times at least but the commentary really made me think about a bunch of things differently. Can't say I recommend unless you are fanatic though as it's obviously pieced together from interviews Michael Powell and Martin Scorcese $$
Water (1985): If you smoke the exact right strain of sativa and ignore some of the more dated aspects of this 80s comedy, that reads as if Local Hero were a Cheech and Chong film--this is a total classic. Irreverent Michael Caine just straight up breaking character the minute he turns into a guerilla fighter in the jungle and being far too competent and cool, and then snapping back to sweetly shy, inept British Civil Servant, finding he actually loves his hated backwater post (the invent Casara part Caribbean, part Devon Jurassic Coast) while having to actually do his job. Political satire and fully both barrels to Maggie Thatcher and Reagan. Good on em. Filmed in St. Lucia, the movie has a zany heart and little taste, hoovering up vast quantities of competent TV players from my youth: Herman Munster and Reginald Perrin to name but two. Awkward love story and some uneven acting from Valerie Perrin and Brenda Vaccaro. I enjoyed myself, heartily, anyway. $$$
The Ballad of John and Yoko: Technically a video essay with amazing production values (the licensing alone was epic) dragging together disparate topics around the central theme of women being blamed for bad things happening to infantalized male geniuses. Is it the most coherent argument? No. Does it absolutely tap into many unexpressed or implied ideas that have been floating around since me too? Absolutely. $$
Track 29: This was some of the worst casting I've ever seen in a film. When I think of Texas nurse who is into trains and spanking, I don't automatically think of comedian Sandra Bernhardt. When I think of an actress of that era who was old enough to play Gary Oldman's mother, I don't think of Theresa Russell who is the same age as Oldman and looked every bit as young as he did in the film. Maybe that was the point? I'm not sure. The story was weird, like a Southern Gothic melodrama/black comedy ala Flannery O'Connor, but there was something off about the whole thing.

Hi Bethany! how are you, my wonderful, precious and just all around sweet friend?
so, i just saw this set you reblogged from Nancy Drew and i don't really watch the show but i enjoy the sets you reblog and i trust your judgment completely when it comes to good shows, my fellow human being *wink* *wink* or should i say *pop* *pop* lol
anyWHO!!
so can i do one of those things where i describe what the show's about even tho i've never seen it?!!! cause i love those!
so does she get possessed by spirits and like each episode is a different one? she's like psychic and that's how her gift works??? cause the name of the episode from that set (and god bless ur immaculate tagging) and the way she's being extra jealous (in the funniest way btw that Annette line is really good) would suggest that.
so did i get it right?
love you and hope u had a wonderful day, dear <333
[link to the post mentioned in the ask]
Ha! That would be an amazing show: a psychic who gets possessed by various spirits! In fact, now that I've typed that out, I feel like maybe that IS a thing? A show where someone gets possessed by spirits and it helps them solve mysteries? I guess there are kinda shades of that plot in a couple other shows I can think of...Medium, Pushing Daisies...probably more I'm forgetting or never watched.
But no, sadly, that's not how Nancy Drew goes. 😜 Many of the characters on the show have been possessed by different ghosts/entities at various times, but no one is psychic. It's just regular old mysteries with a supernatural twist, so sometimes ghosts/demons/witches are involved. (And as a non-American you may or may not realize this, but Nancy Drew is actually a well-known character from a mystery series that was initially published over 90 years ago. The Hardy Boys books were from the same publishing company; both series were written by a series of various authors over the years. In the French translations, Nancy's name was changed to Alice Roy, so you might have come across those while studying French.)
This was a delightfully random surprise to find in my inbox--a wild ask meme!! 😄 Thank you, fellow Human Being, for it and for just generally all the goodness you add to my life. 💛
