This vine got stuck in my head so I decided to make a little comic of it- takes place on search for Jupiter if the moons run into Mars and Neptune makes himself known.
(Kuiper Belt)
Mars: I wonder where Jupi- (cut off by familiar maniacal laughter)
Ceres: *appears with asteroid, and then chucks it*
Io, gets hit: H-hey!
Mars: *screaming in terror*
Io and Mars, in two very different sentiments: GET YOUR F*CKING DOG B*TCH!
Charon, with the Dwarf Planets: Aw, it don’t bite.
Io and Mars, having violent flashbacks: YES IT DO!
Meanwhile, everyone else:
Titan, Europa, and Ganymede: *confused about who this guy is*
(Ganymede: Who even is this guy?
Europa: Beats me.)
Luna, Callisto, and Triton: *having experienced this before*
(Callisto, tired of her friend: This again…)
Neptune’s Moons: *there too and just confused*
(Neso: Triton, what’s a “b*tch”?
Triton: *regretting his life choices*)
Neptune: *also there, he thinks*
(Neptune:
Neptune: What’s a “dog”?)

I need the eltingville club being I a relationship with a autistic person or someone that's obsessed with aliens
Nerds who love Alien enthusiasts
Bill/Josh/Pete/Jerry x fem!reader
warning : fluff, kiss, cuddling, They four are their own warning (nothing graphic), no use of Y/n
Summary : The four of them had divided up the club's topics precisely. Each of them had mastered a field and knew comics, films, characters and authors by heart. They lacked a connection to eachother…good thing that a new member with a special interest in aliens has joined the Eltingville Club to open up a new world for the four of them.
info : Hi dear anon, hope this is what you 'need' and have fun with it. It was a very sweet time writing it and the cover is just a last minute idea. Thank you for all the support for the last two works.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
°They were an exclusive club with carefully selected topics. Everyone was important and irreplaceable, because no one knew the horror world like Pete, no one was as gifted in Star Wars lightsaber combat style as Josh and absolutely no one despite Jerry had a clue about being a Dungeon Master. It was all held together by Bill whose almighty presence could be heard through his usually loud shouting.
°But now there was another person in the brown-haired man's basement. A person who rivalled Pete with her formidable knowledge of every alien-like creature in the horror realm. A girl who outdid Josh on every alien species in Star Wars and Star Trek and a girl who dwarfed Jerry's collection of cards.
°Even Bill was beaten at the latest when a large telescope appeared in the basement, which she enthusiastically set up and declared, "You'll love the sight!" she had energetically promised and brought snacks, books and maps along with the telescope. But how could the four of them be angry with her?
°One look at her and her interest in aliens of all kinds and the four of them saw themselves in her. Her energy and dedication to the subject was unbelievable and even if all four of them didn't want to admit it to themselves, their hearts beat faster when she gave them a broad smile and a tentacled hair ring hung from her head.
°Josh was the most likely to fall for her, the science fiction 'leader' shared her interest in aliens. It was only minutes before they were exchanging characters, talking about the vastness of space and Josh even went so far as to give her a shirt of his, in return for another of her books about aliens, "They're so informative," he had muttered as he barely got away from the books.
°Pete, on the other hand, also shared her love for alien anatomy, "The more brutal and deadly the better," he had agreed with her as they got into a discussion about the xenomorph and possible survival chances on different planets. Together they watched films and documentaries until both their heads were filled with slime, blood and tentacles, yet the horror-loving alien friends were happy.
°Jerry was surprised that she only collected cards containing aliens, space stations and distant planets, "Such a fascinating strategy," he had muttered when he saw her neatly organised collection. The two of them sat together for hours playing against each other, neither wanting to give in as they sat wrapped under a greenish blanket with countless eyes. Laughing and having the best card fight or their lives.
°Bill was sceptical at first, "Aliens or not…your knowledge is worthy of recognition" he said after she held out against him for hours just as Josh had once done. But as she quickly realised, he was interested in her collection, her value and her knowledge, so the two of them quickly met up to make plans, eat snacks and listen to podcasts about the latest UFO sightings in the background, and she even saw Bill smile more than once.
°She was cheerful and bright when it came to her subject of aliens, but in other areas too she was in no way inferior to the four of them. Above all, it was the excellence of a girlfriend, whether it was cuddling under her alien blanket. The group costumes for the next convention or the reward kisses she gave the boys when they won and used the prize money to go shopping for their own collections.
°The four of them had never thought that they would find someone like this and she had never thought that she would ever find a group so full of enthusiasm. Now she was surrounded by four nerds who shared her interest and accepted her for who she was.
If I write fanfic for dungeon meshi I’m gonna start with writing about the demon cause I loooooooove cosmic horror and the way the demon was set up in the story is still giving me brainworms a couple hours after finishing the manga.
Honestly that element reminds me a lot of FMA, I think there are some pretty clear influences there, but tbh the winged lion in dunmeshi is a more compelling character than the dwarf in the flask.
AND the integration of dnd style planar stuff was so fucking goooood.
Like the moment I got to this bit I was like ‘Oh Fuck This Rules this is how you do a demon deal!’
And then the other little hints towards its nature had me !!!!!!
I already mentioned this panel in a post but I’ll do it again cause it’s fucking breathtaking
And these bits are gonna live in my mind forever now, SO fucking goooood
But what’s most intriguing is the backstory chapter for the demon like!!! Going from
To being like, the origin of magic and of the variation in humanoid races??? And worshipped as presumably many separate gods??? And then being sealed away at some point, somehow, cut off from the whole of the planet and confined to the saddest little pocket dimension of all time while the society driven by its influence collapses???????
AND THEN FINALLY this comment from the elves?????????????
GOD the worldbuilding in dunmeshi is making me crazy holy shit.
#dungeon meshi#dungeon meshi manga spoilers#the winged lion#dunmeshi liveblog#technically I finished it earlier but I’m gonna put it in that tag anyway cause I’m still thinking thoughts#caitie speaks#long post#once again no idea I will add them after I eat
Hello! I'm looking for an RPG that's set underground with a focus on mining and modern vehicles/technology, in the vein of Lego Rock Raiders and Power Miners. If nothing comes to mind, any systems you know that you think might be easily adapted to an underground mining setting works too!
THEME: Mining, Technology, Underground.
Hello there! I've got a few solo and a few multiplayer options for you, some about mining, some about tech, and some that might have to be tweaked but I think could still fit the bill!
Stoneburner, by Fari RPGs.
In his will, Brokur has bequeathed to you the cursed mines of the Long Belt, its dilapidated settlement, and the leadership of House Grandrock.
However, other dwarf houses seek to overthrow you and take control of the valuable minerals hidden deep within those cold tunnels.
To complicate matters further, most of the mines’ galleries are haunted by fire spitting demons from the underworld.
Cleanse. Rebuild. Survive.
Stoneburner is a sci-fantasy solo-friendly demon-hunting community-building tabletop role-playing game. Inspired by the new school revolution movement, players take on the role of a group of dwarves who must assume control of a demon haunted mine, along with its accompanying settlement. A settlement which they inherited after the death of their distant relative. The game focuses on the dwarves' journey as they navigate the challenges of their new responsibilities, rebuild a new thriving community, and clear the mine of its fire spitting monsters.
Technically the mines of Stoneburner are in space, rather than underground, but I think there’s going to be some similarities nevertheless. The game is a combination of combat, survival and base-building, using the items that you find to create things that will help you hold your own. There’s machine upgrades, expeditions across a map, and problems that will show up every time you take a break. I think it’s definitely worth checking out!
Robo Goons, by Unknown Dungeon.
It is the distant future, humanity has disappeared from the surface of the Earth, and nature has taken back the planet. All that remains are overgrown man-made structures returned to the wild, vicious beasts that stalk the surface, and sentient robots who pick through the ruins of civilization for salvage. You are one such robot.
Robo-Goons is a lightweight, tabletop adventure game where the players take control of randomly generated robots and explore the ruins of humanity in search of upgrades and salvage. The core rules fit on a single page and all that's required is a pencil and paper, two six-sided dice, and some friends to play with.
Robo Goons uses the setting of a ruined civilization, with an added detail that your robots have solar batteries that need to be re-charged. If your robots are continuously salvaging from underground, or even just beneath heaps of scrap, then you have a natural cycle of going down and up again, giving you breaks as you play. The game also comes with a map, which represents the ruins that your robots will explore, with plenty of roll-tables to determine what kinds of places they’re exploring, and what threats might show up.
Astro Miners, by 7 Card Stud.
Astro Miners is a TTRPG about mining in space.
You are an robotic mining worker with a human brain. The only problem is your brain was wiped of all memory. You don't remember your name, your old life, even your sexuality and gender are all lost. You are a robot.
If you can mine enough material you'll earn enough credits to regain your memory and buy your freedom from the company if you want.
Astro Miners is built for 3 players, but if you don’t mind doubling up on character classes, you can probably play with 4 or 5. Since the game is built on LUMEN, I’d expect your characters to be hyper-competent, with plenty of room for upgrading and customization. There are dropships that you can call in order to be able to sell things you’ve found and buy things you need, and you can also buy robots to help you carry things, fight things, illuminate dark areas and more!
Numenera: Destiny, by Monte Cook Games.
This is the Ninth World. The people of the prior worlds are gone—scattered, disappeared, or transcended. But their works remain, in the places and devices that still contain some germ of their original function. The ignorant call these magic, but the wise know that these are our legacy. They are our future. They are the Numenera.
Set a billion years in our future, Numenera is a tabletop roleplaying game about exploration and discovery. The people of the Ninth World suffer through a dark age, an era of isolation and struggle in the shadow of the ancient wonders crafted by civilizations millennia gone. But discovery awaits those brave enough to seek out the works of the prior worlds. Those who can uncover and master the numenera can unlock the powers and abilities of the ancients, and perhaps bring new light to a struggling world.
Discovery (the base game) is mostly about exploration, but Destiny, the biggest and most useful supplement, gives you character options for building and crafting, as well as plenty of interesting machines and vehicles for you to build and use. Numenera isn’t explicitly underground, nor is it about mining, but I think there are plenty of places within the world that you could start building an underground base in, or at least something similar.
DELVE and UMBRA, by Blackwell Writer.
DELVE: A Solo Map Drawing Game is a map drawing game that puts you in control of a dwarven hold as you discover the horrors that lurk below. This 44 page zine has everything you need to generate natural formations, forgotten ruins, enemies, wyrd magics, and ancient monstrosities. It has a simple turn-based combat system, rules for building your hold and optional challenges for a harder experience.
UMBRA: A Solo Game of Final Frontiers is a map drawing game that puts you in control of a sci-fi colony as you struggle against starvation, the void, and the many threats that will assail you from above and below. This 48 page zine has everything you need to generate natural formations, alien ruins, enemies, technologies, and forgotten terrors. It has a simple turn-based combat system, rules for building your colony and optional challenges for a harder experience.
DELVE firmly places itself in fantasy, but it is first and foremost a game about delving underground. In contrast, UMBRA is about mining in space, while fighting of alien threats. You draw cards from a deck of playing cards to find resources and discover landmarks, while combat takes the form of a tower-defense format. There are a lot of supplements available for DELVE, as well as a Cyberspace and a Stations expansion for UMBRA.
Fez V: Wizard’s Betrayal (1987) is a course correction from the rocky fourth installment. I possibly think this because it is an extended riff on Expedition to Barrier Peaks.
There is a lot of metaplot here, but I ignored it entirely in favor of just enjoying the dungeon crawl. In this installment in particular Fez seems to be leaning into a kind of melodramatic tragic mode that I feel does not jibe well with the silliness of the actual action. He’s trapped in a crashed extraterrestrial machine that is about to commence to destructively terraforming the planet and you need to get in there, rescue him and stop the process.
Complicating things is the fact that the players are themselves visitors from another planet (mostly humans, one dwarf, one sentient silica pyramid with multiple eyes), the sole survivors of a spaceship crash. There are giant sparrows and weird centaur aliens and talking mice and mutant ants. It’s fine. The rules for blasters are OK. I appreciate that there is a stun setting.
There is no particular connection between this adventure and the, at that time, decade-old Boris Vallejo painting on the cover. As Boris paintings go, this isn’t even a particularly exciting one.
Dungeon Meshi Chapter 13
As soon as I saw the title artwork, I knew this chapter was going to be about mimics.
After my little speculation about the winged lion last chapter, I've realized it actually appears a lot throughout the dungeon.
That little montage of Chilchuck dealing with mimics made me think back to chapter 5 and how he had to stick his hands in the treasure chest to disarm it. If that chest had been a mimic, Chilchuck would be missing a few fingers. Is he able to identify mimic chests because of an intuition forged by years of practice? He flagged the treasure chest as a mimic by its location rather than any actual identifiable features.
The whole "Not too obvious. Not too hidden" description also matches the mimic chest from chapter 0.
Chilchuck is a real salary worker. He's not going to do or say anything that will just mean more work for him.
So many mimics and trap chest in Dark Souls would be trivialized if you could open them this way.
Of course Chilchuck is getting worse at going hungry. The party has been eating well on this journey.
At first, I thought those treasure insects were working with the mimic to lure Chilchuck into that room. Like, the insects lay themselves into a trail leading to the mimic and any adventurer dumb enough to follow the coin trail would then open the chest and the mimic would kill them. Then the treasure insects would eat the scraps of adventurer the mimic leaves behind.
I'm going to try defending Chilchuck's bouts of incompetence this chapter. He's hungry, he hasn't slept, and his mind is so preoccupied over the mimic that he's not able to think about possible traps. If you're in the woods and you notice a bear nearby, you're going to focus on making sure the bear doesn't notice you. You're not going to check for snakes in the grass.
The chapter did a lot of buildup to the reveal of the mimic. It almost felt like a horror story. We're shown the imminent threat of a mimic and we get a montage of its actions without actually showing what it looks like.
And then the sequence of events leading up to its reveal had a subtle ominousness to it. The room with the fountain is dimly lit and we know there is a mimic nearby. I was almost waiting for the mimic to just appear out of nowhere or for that chest to have just moved randomly.
And after a moment of tension followed by a sense of relative safety does the mimic reveal itself.
The mimic's design is the same as chapter 0 so I think it probably was in that treasure box previously and recently moved into that cabinet.
I didn't find any characters on the plaque that look like what Marcille said in her incantations. So I don't think magic is spoken in the ancient tongue.
Some little details that I can glean from Chilchuck solving the lock puzzle:
Chilchuck is innately able to determine cardinal directions
The planet rotates in the same direction as our planet
There is a moon and it orbits the planet in the same direction as our moon
There is a North Star that is perfectly aligned to the planet's rotation axis
Laios sleeps in his chainmail apparently. It's not easy to tell because of all the hair, but I get the feeling Senshi sleeps without a shirt on.
Marcille looks cute with her hair down.
So yeah, I first thought mimics and treasure insects might have a mutalistic or at least commensal relation but it turns out that it's parasitic. And it's the same type of parasitism as a spider wasp.
So now I'm curious if the tiara insect nest is made from pieces of a mimic's carapace. Also, was that treasure box full of treasure insects in chapter 10 originally a mimic? And if so, why was it being carried by a zombie?
I guess the sequence of events could be
human dies while carrying some jewels in a box -> mimic comes across the box and hides in it -> treasure insects find the mimic and eat it -> spirit animates the corpse still carrying the box
So Chilchuck is 29 and based on everyone's reactions, that's still fairly young for an elf and dwarf. Laios meanwhile is apparently younger than him.
For the Dwarf Planet’s, what are their opinion’s on Dungeon’s and Dragon’s?
(I watched Solar Balls and I thought it was funny with the Dwarf planet’s playing dungeons and dwarf planets.)
Yeah, it was pretty funny they're all a bunch of nerds in that aspect. I find their dynamics so wholesome and relatable! Here's what my dwarf planets think of it.
Pluto: Give me some more time to come up with a good campaign. (likely class: wizard or sorcerer)
Ceres: Huh... I never played it. But I'm willing to learn! (likely class: ranger... or paladin)
Haumea: (after hearing the others speak extensively about it) I don't understand a word you're all saying! Please stop talkingggg! (likely class if she'd be willing to learn: bard)
Makemake: I'm making some cool sets of dice if you want some! Just a fair warning, they're not edible. Nor are they edibles. (likely class: cleric)
Eris: Up for another round? Let's do this. (likely class: rogue or monk)
#tag yourself i'm ceres#asks#ask#anon#anonymous#dwarf planets#pluto#ceres#haumea#makemake#eris#meiousei#i'm ashamed to admit i'm a nerd who has not experienced playing dnd yet... thinking of learning all the technicalities kinda overwhelms me#but someday i will. it's on my bucket list. and i want pretty dice!#i'd likely be a druid. i love being a mage and i love nature! so many pretty plants and flowers...
i dislike pluto in a 'i'm in this photo and i don't like it' kind of way. i relate to his insecurity of being seen as unworthy just because he's something that he's not when really it's not that big of a deal! he's the only one who gaf about it when the others literally could not care less
i like that solarballs gave that (imo) pretty realistic depiction of trying to shake off that little voice in your head telling you that you're not worth it even when the others already reassured you multiple times that you are
but man that dungeons n dwarf planets episode was so annoying to sit through because of pluto 😞
SolarBalls OC Character 4
It's Trillisto turn!:D Here goes their daughter - Minerva.
Character:
Despite the fact that Minerva is very similar to her mother in both appearance and sometimes the way she speaks, she is her father's daughter. She is a cool and confident girl who could be an excellent leader if she wanted to be. Although Minerva enjoys being alone, she also enjoys being in the company of both older and younger moons. She also has a soft and caring side, but she only reveals it to those very close to her.
Some random facts:
-She is named after the Roman goddess of wisdom, justice and victory.
-Her radius is 1926 km.
-She and Viola (the daughter of Titan and Titania) are BFF.
-She has a fur coat like her father, but she practically never wears it. But she always has glasses with her that look like her father's.
-Despite her slightly sullen appearance, she loves to look after at both the small moons of Neptune and Jupiter. (Don't dare make either of them cry, you will not escape Minerva for that!).
-Minerva also doesn't like it when someone laugh at the fact that her father is smaller than her.
-She loves pastel colors.
-Minerva knows Pluto and other dwarf planets and often joins them to play a game of "Dungeons and Dwarf Planets".
-She is also close to Eris (due to their similar personalities).
-On her medallion are depicted astronomical symbols of the planets to which her parents belong. On the front is the symbol of Jupiter, on the back is the symbol of Neptune.
-At first Minerva was a little wary of Neptune because of his strange behavior, but over time she got used to it.
---
It's funny that if it took me the longest to make Viola and Notus , I created this girl in just 3 days 😁
Hope you enjoy it! :)
Louie's Food Adventures: Bulborbs
AO3
The planet had bugs. GIANT BUGS! Louie failed to get a slice of... what did Olimar call it again? A Dwarf Bulborb(?). Well he failed to get any of it the first day because the Pikmin dragged it away before he got a chance.
But it was the second day and Louie not only got a few cuts of the Dwarf Bulborb, but he also got the larger one as well. He would have thought it was the parent but according to Olimar Dwarf Bulborbs weren't actually the young of the big ones but were just pretending to be. Louie wonders what the point of that is. All the same he was excited to compare the flavors of the two, see if they tasted as similar as they looked.
He had squirreled away the cuts without Olimar noticing. Louie wasn't sure what Olimar would think of Louie's love for experimental dining. He wasn't planning on having Olimar find out. He was just going to be experimenting on the side a little, Olimar didn't need to know. And it wasn't like Louie was going to eat any less from the ship rations, he always felt a little hungry, so that's no issue at all.
Olimar wanted to go into the creepy cave because there was supposed to be some treasure down there. Louie wasn't exactly keen on going into weird creepy caves but he kind of had too. He needed to at least pretend to be a team player. Maybe he could find something else to eat down there.
***–__***__–***
Not only did Louie find something new to eat, he got the whole body too! It was sent directly into the cargo hold, so it would be easy to access. If all the food they found in the dungeon was going directly into the cargo hold then Louie would happily go into the caves.
Sure the bodies were supposed to be sold, but it wasn't like they were going for much anyway. No one was going to notice if a few went missing.
”Snow Bulborb“ was what Olimar called it. Louie wondered how this one's flavor profile would compare with the other two.
He also wondered about how some of the treasure would taste. The giant orange looking fruit looked perfectly edible. But Olimar would probably notice if he took a bite out of that.
Appearances may deceive but flavor does not! The Dwarf Bulborbs and regular Bulborbs tasted quite a bit different. The two different kinds of Dwarf Bulborbs were similar but still different. This was only a first taste but he had already started dreaming of different ways he could try preparing these meals. He was sure given enough time he could find the perfect way to cook them!
He hadn't looked forward to his trip before, but if these creatures were anything to go by, this Pikmin planet was covered in delicious food, just ripe for the eating!
Something tells me you have feelings and thoughts about Dungeon Meshi. Like the reframing of Senshis desire to feed the "kids" as trauma from himself and so much more?
Also Senshi's/all dwarfs tendency to sit down whenever arriving somewhere maybe being familiar and relatable!
I wish to hear your thoughts (or just screaming) and chat about Dungeon Meshi!!
SENSHIIIIIII!!!!!!! I just, love him, so much, he wants those he is around to be well fed first and foremost and at home / as comfortable as possible secondmost just ;-; get me! Emotional!!
When I read the part where he talks about how he came to living in the dungeon just had me weeping, the very last thing the leader, who made sure to try and make everyone feel as calm as possible in the horrific event that is happening to them, and to make sure Senshi is not just eating well but thinking about how he is young and growing and how important Senshi is for everyone even if he’s the only one who knows that.
AND THEN!!!!!!! THERES THE END PART THAT FEELS LIKE ALL THE OXEGYN IN THE ENTIRE PLANET HAS LEFT AND YOURE READING ABOUT THE HORRORS OF BEING THE LAST MAN STANDING WHO HAS POSSIBLY EATEN A TRAVELING COMPANION OF YOURS!!!!!!!!
AND LAIOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS THE BACKBONE!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS THERE AND MAYBE WORRIED A TIME OR TWO BUT HE KNOWS TOO MUCH ABOUT THESE MONSTERS THAT ONCE HE FINDS THE CONNECTION TO WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!! All the oxygen comes back and Senshi is crying and so Am I cause Holy Shit Holy Shit Holy Shit
That whole scene made me love Senshi a billion times more and just cements in my mind that this group cannot be separated ever ;-; he just Needs to Feed those he cares for and he Cares So So So Much about Everyone ;-;
