okay but i would love to hear anything and everything about your rangers

oh my god, oh my god. this has taken me forever to answer and i am- so sorry but . i’m about to go on a whole tangent because i love them so.

the whole idea is that i’ve created this agency whose been doing things to try and take over the world. they start small with kidnapping and rangers is probably the second biggest thing they’ve ever done. it’s supposed to be this super villainous plot but ends up failing.

they take these 5 kids who are all about 14- from earth. one day these kids are there and the next when their parents or family get up- they are gone.

this includes the following -

tj barton - the son of clint barton and avril silva - another oc of mine who you already know. his fc is brandon flynn. tj is the red ranger

cinder - she’s actually an alien princess from another planet and she’s originally a guardians of but she ends up on the earth and gets kidnapped. her fc is alisha boe. her and tj are love interests. cinder is the pink ranger

destiny carter - she’s a random teenager from brooklyn. she’s also a lesbian icon. and the yellow ranger. her fc is ginny gardner.

eddie sato - he’s the black ranger , he’s - it’s complicated . he kinda - has disappeared like 5 times - he’s a rich kid. he got kidnapped a lot because of his parents and it was always for a ransom. he’s not very lucky. his fc is ryan potter!

evan max - the blue ranger. probably the most stable of the bunch actually. he’s a pansexual icon , we love him. his fc is jonathan daviss .

there’s also this woman whose kidnapped like 10 years before them because this is the second time the experiment has happened. her name is zero- and her fc is nadia hilker, she’s also a “purple ranger” everyone else from her experiment is dead and the agency thinks she’s dead because she removed her tracker.

now zero has a little bit of a different experiment. hers was centered around the agency trying to build a team that would destroy earth . when that failed the team died except for zero.

so while the rangers are trying to survive - zero is following them. watching them and the team is working and trying to trust each other despite not really getting along. one day zero tricks them and while they’re looking for food they end up getting stuck in a cave. zero’s cave.

they try to get out but then zero steps up. and when zero steps up . she explains to them everything. the experiment- her experiment. her team - everything. and she ends up- presenting them with stones. these stones are what her team was gifted with - that transformed them into the rangers. it gave them abilities and suits and zero has messed with them to keep them out of control of the agency. they would help them fight the agency instead of work for them like they were originally made for.

the story of the rangers centers around this. it centers around them fighting , trying to get home . trying to get their memories back. while forming into this team. time also works different on this planet so 2 years for the rangers is 4 for earth.

once they do get back on earth? they have to figure out what their place in the world is. how they can still function as a team. how to live in this world when for years they believed their only purpose was to survive. now they have to learn how to live.

Saw a post about wanting more Bi Eddie. What about Bi4Bi with Toshiko Sato.

I'm forever in denial over her death. Instead of dying she gets transported to a new universe. The new universe was a few years ahead but she's been here long enough to set up a solid identity.

She keeps a quieter life in this universe for the most part. She occasionally hacks different governments to make sure there really aren't aliens here. The rest of the time she works in a science museum.

That's how she first meets Eddie. He happened to arrange work to chaperone a field trip. During the field trip something happens- earthquake, hostage situation, something. Toshiko keeps a cool head and impresses Eddie.

WIP: Fictional Flame

You've Got Mail meets Beauty Shop when Paige Dela Cruz, a hairstylist aspiring to open the first Filipino-owned hair salon in the heart of little Winnipeg, falls head over heels for Christian Sato, or so she thought.

Paige Dela Cruz is a hairstylist who falls head over heels for the charming and sexy Christian Sato, or so she thought. She's actually talking to Eddy Silva, Christian's cousin.

While Paige and Eddy's messages become more intimate with each passing text, Eddy finds himself wanting to let go of his facade and show Paige the person he truly is.

As if her love life wasn't complicated enough, Paige faces another threat to her well-being. Her boss, Michael Coward. He takes everything from her - her clients, her tips, and her time. As Paige endures the constant nonsensical wrath of her boss, she begins to doubt if she'll ever be able to open the salon of her dreams.

I've contemplated whether or not I should post this because the more I think about my WIP, the more embarrassed I get which is so bizarre cause I'm over here trying to make it as a romance author. The self-sabotage and imposter syndrome are really sinking in right now which is exactly why I decided to finally share the details of my WIP.

Why did I write this book?

I was a hairstylist for 5 years and met the most amazing (and awful) people in the industry and I wanted to tell a more dramatized version of what happens in this cut-throat world that is hairstyling.

As a Filipino-Canadian living in little Winnipeg, I also wanted to share glimpses of what it's like being raised by immigrants, the food, and the covert racism I've encountered throughout the years.

Lastly, I just wanted to write my own romance because I love love. I love reading and watching love stories. I've always been a hopeless romantic. After my dad died in 2021, I needed some sort of outlet. I started writing a fantasy about a young girl who also lost her dad but then I reached a point where I couldn’t move on cause fantasy was too big for my brain to fathom lol. So I decided to stick to a genre I knew I could do well, and that was romance.

Just like a small question based on that one ask, but... might the lack of brown/black men in popular M/M ships have to do with people trying really hard not to be racist so they just... never feature black/brown men? Because I know several F/F ships with brown/black women, but I can't remember a single M/M or even M/F with a black/brown male love interest... well, maybe Link/Gan or Zelda/Gan? But besides that one... nothing rings a notable bell.

If we're talking about AO3, Link/Gan has 785 works. Finnpoe has 8,636. Sam/Bucky has 10,591. Do you just not watch live action media?

Part of it is "I don't know. I just don't find them hot for some reason..."-style racism. That can shift with time and exposure but there's no instant fix even if someone is interested in changing their own tastes.

Part of it is being instantly screamed at and held to higher standards. (And yes, no matter how much people want to whine and say this isn't true, it is true, and anyone who goes ahead and writes despite the haters will tell you so.)

Part of it is fear of messing up above and beyond fear of reactions. Personally, I think this is toxic white guilt-flavor time-wasting and it's better to try and fail than not try, but it's a massive factor in what some people choose to write.

A lot of it is simply the composition of the mega-franchises that tend to generate the ships with bajillions of works. If we're looking at AO3 circles, the biggest f/f ships are not that big. If you look at m/m ships of the same size, there are some with some guy who is not white and not a pale-skinned Asian.

I don't see anything particularly significant until we get further down the listings, but there are definitely smaller fandoms like Leverage where everybody loves and ships the black guy.

I mean, yes, clearly, media does have a bias against darker skin, and the darker the skin, the bigger the bias. This bias may be exacerbated by fandom, but in a lot of cases, it just seems to be replicated at about the same level.

That pattern notwithstanding, it seems like you just haven't heard of a lot of ships.

Hm. Now that was a little odd. There was a letter in front of the letterbox, like the box had spat it out. The envelope was white with a coloured triangle in each corner to frame it: red, blue, yellow, and orange. It was simply addressed to "New Friend", written in a slightly blunted red pencil. Wouldn't hurt to open it.

The handwriting on the inside was the same as on the envelope, and it appeared to only hold a folded sheet of paper.

"Dear Stranger,

I was talking to Eddie today and I said I didn't know who else to write a letter to. I'd written a letter to all my friends. Eddie said I should write to look for a 'pen pal'. I thought he meant that I needed a pen to be my friend, but it actually means that someone would write to me. I like phone calls, but I also like letters too.

Hello stranger. My name is Wally Darling. I live in Welcome Home. It is a small town where all my friends live. This is what I look like."

An arrow pointed to a somewhat childish drawing of a yellow person with swirly blue hair, a matching cardigan, and colourful, stripey trousers. There was a smile on the drawing's face.

"I am a painter. I love to paint or draw. There are so many things to look at. Is there anything you like to do? Do you have a job or class you go to?

Please write back. My full address is: Wally Darling, Home, The Neighborhood.

Oh, that was odd. Naomi was quite used to the letterbox having letters in it - usually in response to her own - but this time, the little door hung wide open, the letter propped against it and politely waiting for her when she came upstairs. Her eyes widened when she saw the bright primary colors - colors she didn't recognize from other responses. This was someone new!

Handling the colorful envelope with the same care she would an official document, she read through it slowly, feeling a small smile pull at her face as she kept going. The language was simple, but charming - more importantly, someone had written to her first, something that never happened. Usually the letters she got were responses to her own, so this was a charming surprise.

The letter itself was fairly simple, so she should start with a simple response. Naomi grabbed a sheet of her own paper - the white, lined stationary with a frame of hydrangeas in purple and blue - and started to write.

"Dear Wally Darling, Hello! I'm the person who got your letter, so I guess this makes me your pen pal. It's nice to meet you! My name is Naomi Sato, but everyone calls me Miss Naomi. I'll draw a picture of myself on the back of this page, since it's full of lines. I live in the Lullaby Lane Library. It's a very old building-"

"Okay, I'll change it, my goodness!"

"It's a building that's been left by itself for quite some time, so I'm working hard to help get it all ready for people to visit again. I live here with a couple of friends, Willa and Rags, and my friend Arlo lives on the hill behind us. Right now my job is fixing up the library. The inside's all done, but the outside needs new paint and a garden. It's a lot of work, but it's fun!"

What did she like to do? Hm, keep it simple. Explaining a podcast would take more pages.

I like to read, and clean, and tell stories. My favorite kind of stories are fairy tales, and my favorite kind of reading is when I get to share stories with other people. Do you have any stories you like, Wally? Thank you for writing to me. I'll give you my full address so you can write to me again: Miss Naomi, Lullaby Lane Library, Lullaby Lane. I hope you have a good day! Sincerely, Miss Naomi."

It was only right to match Wally's drawing with one of her own. Using a small number of colored pencils, she drew herself as best she could - still a small, simple drawing, with line features and blocky colors, but she liked how the jacket came out. Carefully the letter was folded and put in a seaglass-blue envelope, sealed shut with a sticker of an orange balloon. Into the letter box it went, no doubt to appear wherever it needed to be.

My idea on who (from other works) would be great candidates to be part of the Animorphs

So basically, here are who I feel would fit perfectly alongside the Animorph gang (Ax, Cassie, Jake, Marco, Rachel and the Auxiliary Animorphs)
