Potemkin (Guilty Gear) headcanons 2: Electric Boogaloo

Does Potemkin like his uniform?

- He doesn't feel anything real strong about his uniform. It's just a couple of garments he wears for formality's sake, not much else. He appreciates the small pockets though!

- But his helmet? God, Potemkin appreciates his helmet sooooooo much.

- Albeit only slightly, very very slightly, he's got some eyesight issues - but his helmet's got some prescription lenses installed in there that bring his vision back to 20/20.

- Potemkin doesn't really notice the eyesight problems when his helmet's off, but once he looks through those lenses again, it's like seeing a whole new world.... kind of. In reality it doesn't make much of a difference, but Potemkin appreciates it nonetheless!

What would Potemkin wear if he could wear clothes without issues?

- He's already so used to his firm uniform, no matter the issues, so I feel he'd instinctually go for something tight and cozy to emulate that feeling.

- On simple outings, he values comfort over fashion. A simple sleeveless t-shirt and trousers is all he needs. Maybe even a jacket.

- ... yeah, Potemkin's not too big on fashion. Again, he prefers comfort over anything, considering the lack of it that he has in the first place.

- He definitely doesn't mind showing some skin though (NOT IN THAT WAY AUGH). Mostly his arms, since he finds most long-sleeved shirts very uncomfortable.

How does Potemkin's mutation affect things like clothes or self grooming?

- For self grooming, he finds he's often breaking hairbrushes, toothbrushes, hair ties or anything else, completely by accident. His sheer strength makes it hard to use anything without taking extra care to do so gently. It's annoying, but Potemkin makes the most of it.

- Gabriel, the worried mentor that he is, always orders in extra-sturdy replacements for these tools, made just for Potemkin's sake. Potemkin is ever so grateful for it, as you'd expect.

- For clothes, Potemkin has to get them refitted every couple of months or so. Have you seen how skin-tight his Strive outfit is?

- well yeah t's for the sex appeal dude.but that's daisuke's fault not mine

- (In some XX cutscenes, there's images of him clearly wearing clothing that isn't practically glued to his skin. Maybe during Strive, he was simply due for a refitting of his clothes again...?)

- It's a hassle, and quite a costly one at that. but really it's no biggie. Just that all that body proportion measuring does get to him a little....

Does Potemkin like being able to take care of himself?

- Hooh! Ahem. Uhh, well, it's definitely better than not being able to...?

- Yeah, sure, Potemkin says he doesn't mind, and that's true. But on the bad days, when he looks in the mirror to brush his teeth or tie his hair up, he just feels... disgust. He's too big to fit in the doorway, or some low-hanging ceilings, or the mirror itself.

- Potemkin's mutation, the one that's taken hold of his life, opened so many paths and closed all the others... he resents it. Hates it. Wishes he could just be normal, with regular proportions and lacking of his superhuman strength. It's a blessing and a curse. It's-- no. No. There's no reason to dwell on it. It'll only lower his morale.

- Being independent is something Potemkin is glad he's able to do though, despite the difficulty of moving around and the horrible, horrible body dysmorphia. He'll find a way to cope with it. The self care needs to get done either way, he tells himself.

- (He might need some kind of therapist to help him with his self image issues, actually...)

What are Potemkin's favourite things to draw?

- Potemkin claims that he doesn't have a 'favourite' thing to draw, he simply follows along with whatever inspiration struck him in the moment.

- But, one with a keen eye would be able to spot the fact that he seems to adore drawing portraits of his friends and associates. The way their expression lights up when they see their own face, captured in perfect integrity and drawn by Potemkin's own hands, warms his heart.

How much food does Potemkin eat?

- A bit more than the average portion, since Potemkin has to keep up with his more demanding metabolism due to his larger size.

- But usually, he can get away with eating regular portions, so he does just that. It's a lot more convenient for him that way, especially when he's not preparing the food himself.

- He has been prescribed with a dietary plan, but it's become a little irrelevant lately.

Does Potemkin have favourite books?

- Not really. Well, at least he claims he doesnt, but you'll easily find him binging the old old classics, like Shakespeare. He's read all of Shakespeare's literature. Like, all of it.

- What can he say, they're titled as 500 year old classics for a reason! He's moreso surprised that they're still preserved and out there if anything. Such is the wonders of history preservation...

What's Potemkin's guilty pleasure?

- Fanfiction.

- ...

- What else is there to say?

- He finds beauty in the fact that people can take the base of someone's original story and craft their own out of it, using someone else's characters, setting and world to make their own personal piece of art. The storylines, the interpretations of characters, the twisting of the original plot... He holds the poetic value of it quite highly.

-And obviously, considering the fact he does consume some media, he's sometimes starving for more content of the characters he enjoys.

- What? No, I'm not projecting. Who told you that?

Does Potemkin have a crush on anyone?

- So, have you heard of this guy called Faust Guilty Gea(GETS SHOT AND DIES)

- ...okay, seriously, if he'd have a crush on anyone, I think it would be Faust - even if the crush was only for a fleeting moment. He's far too occupied with his job to really consider a romantic relationship, but him and Faust have bonded closer than he thought ever possible.

- Being so tall your back always hurts, being so bulky you struggle to get around, your giant hands getting in the way all the time... Faust gets Potemkin's struggles. Maybe not to the same degree, but he definitely gets it.

- And the fact that, considering their pasts, they're definitely both working to improve on themselves. It'd be so, so helpful to have someone to lean on, someone to share their struggles with, someone to come back home to.

- Yeah, it'd be tricky as hell for Potemkin to juggle his work and a relationship at the same time... but what the hell, maybe he could try anyway, just for the sake of it?

Fandom: Red Hood

Pairing: Jason Todd x f!reader

Warnings: descriptions of mutilation, slight torture, body horror

Summary: the Batfamily interrogates their prisoner and he leads them to a horrifying sight and you are done with everything, including Jason

Dick and Bruce strung the Professor Pyg knock off in a corner room off the garage on a chain, facing the wall so he couldn’t identify where he was at. They were going to take him to the GCPD but wanted to ask their own questions first, so they used the chain from the ceiling and secured his hands, searching him using a kind of x-ray gun based on Superman’s powers. He had a tracking device installed in his bicep, so Tim shorted it out using a less than kind electric shock. The man didn’t react. They tried to pull off the mask, but it didn’t move, it was sewn into his skin. Jason couldn’t lie, that was smart but gross. The bag Pyg had been carrying sat on a lab table near by being investigated by Dick and YN. The hearts of those at the bar were inside.

“Are you part of the group that has been committing the murders around the city aimed at Red Hood?” Batman asked. The man nodded. “Tell us everything you know, or this experience will be less pleasant than it already is.” There came a laugh from under the mask.

“I do not care about unpleasantness Bruce Wayne,” he said. The air seemed to go out of the room. Even though everyone was aware that this group knew who they were to hear one speak the name of Batman out loud was still a shock. It still made them freeze and look around, wondering who had let the secret out, whose fault it was that they were now targets, not their alter egos. “You may all remove your masks; we know all of you.”

“And who is we?” Batman asked, keeping his cowl in place. Pyg let out another laugh. This whole situation was apparently hilarious to the creature. Batman balled his fist and threw it, hitting him in the face. The mask sustained more damage, a tear showing just a hint of pallid skin beneath it. Other that a sharp exhale at the impact of the punch there was no other indication something happened. No grunt of pain, no increase of heartrate on Tim’s monitors, nothing. It was like he didn’t feel it.

“We are those who want to see how far we can push the Hood, we knew he was from the Wayne family, but we were very surprised to see that he was the long thought dead Jason Todd. What kind of man comes back from the dead? What does that do to the mind? The Doctor is very interested in what will make him break, especially now that his quest for the blood of his killer is complete. What else matters now? The children he wants to spare? The old friends he used to have before death? The new brother from after his return? Perhaps his new fiancé? Will see be the final piece to destroy him? The doctor is not so sure. He wants to talk to the Red Hood, really understand how he ticks,” the voice behind the mask said. Batman frowned.

“Where is this doctor? I’ll pay him a visit,” Jason said, getting tired of this guy’s attitude. He hated this dramatic monologue bullshit. The Pyg looked at him. “He wants to chat tell me where he is.”

“O you will not find him, he will find you when he wants. You cannot even enter his office only we few have the privilege. And he is always watching,” he said. Jason nodded and aimed a gun at the Pyg’s head.

“Always watching? Think whatever camera he’s watching from will work with a bullet in there?” he asked, snarling. Batman shot him a look.

“Red Hood, we’re not done with him,” he said. Jason snarled but put the gun away, turning to pace. He was starting to feel caged, the pit rage burning through his veins, dying to be released. He could feel himself starting to lose control. His eyes found YN like they always did in these situations, and she looked back at him. He watched her, seeing her slow her breathing, his matching it. He was burning still but it had dulled just a little at the sight of her face. It was enough for him to keep control of himself for now.

“He does have a transmitter in the mask, but if I short it out the shock will kill him,” Tim said, still looking at his tablet. Jason shrugged.

“Seems like a win-win to me,” he grumbled. Batman once again gave him a disapproving look, but Jason didn’t care. He was too angry to worry about Bruce’s moral code at the moment. When he got his hands on these guys they were dead, all of them.

“All this time this is taking, such a waste,” Pyg said. “I already decided to dieeeeeee,” he sang out, now swinging on the chain that held him up. “It’s slow and it’s burning me from the inside out, but it’s giving us time.”

“Time for what?” Dick asked, looking up from cataloging the heart evidence.

“The Wayne family isn’t the only family involved. There is also YN and her little family, the one she left alone and so very vulnerable. Do you think they need you now? Those you called your sisters?” Pyg asked. YN’s face paled. There was a laugh from behind the mask that started to sound like gurgling, then the Pyg fell silent.

“He’s dead,” Tim said. He started trying to track a feed location from the camera and dug the tracker out his bicep. “I’m going to fix this, see if I can get the last location from this too.”

“I need to go see if Jocelyn and Aura are alright,” YN said, face pale. She ran out of the room, getting into the McLaren and leaving before even Jason could catch up. He hopped on his bike and followed.

You ran up the stairs, the elevator seeming too slow. You approached the door and your breath hitched, seeing the door cracked just a little. It opened to a horror scene and everything in your world seemed to stop. There was a buzzing in your ear, your eyes couldn’t focus. Blood was everywhere. Jocelyn lay on the couch, reclined like she was watching TV, hand even holding the remote. Only the skin of her face was missing, her chest ripped open, a gaping hole where her heart should have been. Aura was at the table, bowl in front of her, both hearts in it. Her face was also missing. You smelled something burning but couldn’t get your mind to think process anything beyond the sight of your best friends, dead and posed like dolls in some sick playhouse. You weren’t sure when you fell to your knees, you didn’t feel the pain of them hitting linoleum. You didn’t even know when Jason got there, his arms suddenly around you as he tried to pull you back out the door. You let out a cry as he yanked you out, gripping you close as everything finally slammed into you. The buzzing had been the beeping of the smoke alarm from the burning faces on the stove. The smell the melting flesh of your friends’ identities stolen from them. The floor had a message in their blood.

We will take everything from you Red Hood

You looked at yourself, seeing blood on your clothes from you kneeling in it. You let out a cry of horror. You didn’t care when the blood on you was from yourself, but this was your best friends, your sisters. Jason hugged you again, whispering anything in your ear to try and calm you. After several minutes you finally were able to gain some control of yourself, just in time for the GCPD to arrive.

“YN,” Jim said softly, looking at you as his investigators entered the apartment. You stared at him, still not sure if everything that was happening was real or not. “YN, let’s go downstairs.” You nodded slowly and followed him, your brain moving quickly as you started to think of a plan that Jason would hate but considering they wanted to break him it might be the only way to find these monsters.

Jason had been quiet driving you back to the cave. He had said he would get his bike later, now he just wanted you safe. You stared straight ahead, mind empty of everything but the sight of Jocelyn and Aura, mutilated and humiliated in their deaths in a way that would never leave you. You could never imagine closing your eyes again without seeing that destruction. You wondered when you would stop smelling their blood mixed with the burning flesh on the stove. You needed a shower, but there would be time for that later. You needed to end this.

Dick was there to help you out of the car when you were back in the garage. You heard Jason get out and he took of his helmet. You rounded on him, fury in your eyes.

“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!” you screamed, eyes blazing. Jason stood, shocked, staring at you, first confused, then hurt. “They were innocent, and you let them…they tortured them Jason all because you had to go after Joker!” You walked over, fist balling, until you were close enough to throw it at his face. He reeled from the unexpected impact.

“YN…I didn’t mean for this to happen…” he said, trying to scramble, think of anything to make you stop. You knew this would kill him, but you needed to do this.

“You didn’t mean for it to happen? Or course not Jason, you never do anything, everything just happens to you. You don’t mean for me to get kidnapped by Black Mask and drown, you just stupidly showed up at my door, leading them to me! And Poison Ivy? If you had just, I don’t know, pulled a fire alarm when you got to the lounge instead of having to find me like an idiot, more people would have lived! You are the reason these things happen, and I was so stupid to think that I could help you, that maybe if I sat by long enough and let you see the messes you made you would finally realize that everything was better without you. I’d rather never see a single color again than have you in my life,” you said, taking off the ring and throwing it at him. He caught it and stared after you as you ran over to Tim, hugging him, hammering the last painful nail into the coffin. Let Jason see that he was being replaced again. Tim kept his arm around you and walked away, dropping the Pyg mask he had been carrying that had just watched everything unfold. Watched as you imploded Jason’s world and your own.

Alright, so, we’ve replaced a light switch. Now, here’s the next part of the series as promised: replacing an outlet! This is slightly more intimidating because even though they do have essentially the same power load, this is like… an outlet. Here we go!

SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED (which is very similar to the list from last time):

A flathead screwdriver

A Phillips head screwdriver

Replacement outlet(s) (should be less than $1 at your local hardware store unless you get one of the GFCI ones with buttons or one with USB outlets)

Our old friend the contactless voltage tester

A new friend, an outlet circuit analyzer/tester (also probably about $5-$10 at your local hardware store, should be in the same general area as the outlets and switches, along with the voltage tester.)

Not supplies, but like last time, you will need to know where your breaker box is. If you’re in a home, chances are it’ll be in your garage or your basement. If you’re in an apartment, it might be near your utility closet or kitchen, but honestly, who can say.

Optional supplies depending on how screwy your wiring is:

A wire stripper/cutter

Twist-on wire connectors (or these very handy in line connectors)

Supervisor cat(s) (Chucky was taking a nap in my bedroom and missed the festivities)

NOT SHOWN: Wire! Probably 12 or 14 gauge (most likely 14) for the hot, neutral, and ground wires. Ground is usually bare copper. You can find this at, you guessed it, your local hardware store.

If you do need to extend the wires coming to the outlet, I recommend watching this video. (Though I do NOT recommend doing the backstabbing/back wiring thing he does. Just do the j-hooks all around.)

NOW, before we get to the steps, we need to discuss the type of outlet you need.

Chances are you just need a ye-olde residential grade 15A (that is, 15 Amp) outlet rated for 120V (that is, 120 volts), which is what is pictured above. That said, if you’re replacing an outlet in a bathroom or a kitchen that has those test and reset buttons, that’s a GFCI outlet (or Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor).

They’re going to be rated the same and everything, and the installation is more or less the same, but it’s admittedly not the outlet I am installing in this post, so maybe look up a YouTube video or something.

ONWARDS!

Step one: locate your outlet. Unplug everything from the outlet.

Step two: Plug in your outlet tester/analyzer to BOTH outlets. The light should come on (hopefully in the “correct” configuration). You can also do this with the contactless voltage tester, which will flash and beep at you, but the outlet analyzer will actually tell you if the wiring is wrong, so it will come in handy.

Step three: as with the switch, locate your breaker box. Spend several minutes flipping switches to figure out which one of the messily-labeled breakers is connected to the outlet in question. If your outlet is particularly far away from your breaker box, you may want to have another person stand by the outlet to tell you when the light is out. If you don’t have another person, you could plug in a vacuum or some other noise-making device (your outlet tester/analyzer might be able to do this) into the outlet, and once the vacuum or whatever shuts off, you know you’ve found your outlet. Again, check BOTH outlets with the outlet tester/analyzer to double check your work.

(Hilariously, even though the switch I replaced a couple nights ago was in my bathroom, the outlet I’m replacing in my living room is on the same circuit. Why? Who can say. Electric is a mystery to me sometimes.)

Step four: again, similar to the switch, use your flathead screwdriver to remove the faceplate from the outlet, and your phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the outlet itself from the electrical box. Gently pull the outlet out from the box. (If you have cat supervisors, because the outlets are closer to the floor, they’re more likely to get in your way. Try to avoid crumbling landlord white paint from the screws onto them.) This is also a good time to double check that your circuit is off by using the contactless voltage tester.

It was an endless cycle of “in” and “out” as he came down from his anxiety. 

They were all safe now. 

No, not him.

His friends. 

He looked at the picture of his friends. 

Blade Axolotl and Kela. 

He sighed, glad that they were safe. 

And he was safe. 

And Electric Monarch. 

And Shining Firefly. 

He. 

Could. 

Relax…

SHAKE THAT BOOTY AND DANCE UPON THE-. 

Volt Catfish immediately scrambled to get the phone. 

“Yello’?” He asked. 

“Is this Volt Catfish?”. 

It was Shining Firefly’s voice. 

“Why, yes it is! This is him, and he is me! Who else would it be-“. 

“He escaped.”. 

He escaped. 

“Wh…what?” Volt Catfish asked. It felt like everything had a crack in them. 

“He escaped. He broke out of his bonds. We have no idea where he is!”. 

The room was getting smaller. 

“Are you sure?”. 

“Volt Catfish, he’s gone.“. 

“No, no, no-“. 

“Don’t panic! We might be able to track him!”. 

“No, no, no-“. 

“Please, listen to me-“. 

“THEN WHY DON’T YOU TRACK HIM DOWN NOW?”. 

Silence. 

He panted. 

He was shocked-well, he couldn’t be shocked, but he could shock, hehe. 

He hung up and threw the phone down and gripped his whiskers. 

What if he came after his friends again? 

He saw what he was capable of. 

Their faces-. 

His friends’ faces. 

As they sat, preparing to either bleed out or die from organ failure. 

Volt was the one who had convinced him to wait to evacuate the humans there. He called his unit to do so…

But then called it off quickly. 

If it weren’t for Shining Firefly using prism laser on the laser cannon…

And his friends’ faces…

Blade trying to reassure him with a smile. 

And Kela then doing the same. 

It was like a blade that could kel him-hehe. 

He found himself dialing Blade. 

“Please…pick up…” he whispered desperately. 

“Volt, hey! What’s going on?” His friend asked; he was still tired from recovering from having bullets removed from his organs. His regeneration power wouldn’t have saved him for long. 

Remembering that…

“Hey, buddy, have you heard?”. 

“Yep…I shouldn’t have installed that power into him…”. 

“…what power?”. 

Blade Axolotl sighed a heavy, broken sigh. 

“It was the third war…we were losing so many hunters and I thought we could…take advantage of that…so I…”; he sighed once more, but nevertheless continued. 

“I thought that I could give him the ability to…puppet the bodies by using nanobots and neurotransmitters and having him inject them the same way an actual spider injects venom to liquify the insides of their prey!”…Blade Axolotl paused his infodump. 

He sighed. 

“This is all my fault-“. 

“No. No. I-it’s not your fault. You didn’t know…I just…can’t lose you or Kela…you guys are my best friends…” Volt spoke. 

Silence. 

“Volt…we’re not going anywhere…okay?” The Axolotl Reploid spoke. 

Volt Catfish sighed once more. 

“Now, just-try and relax. We’ll find him. And bring him to justice! I mean, he couldn’t have gotten far! He was really banged up back there!”. 

The catfish Reploid sighed. 

“You’re right…”. 

“Just…relax. We’re gonna be okay.” his friend spoke. 

Volt proceeded to keep breathing, assured that his friends were safe. 

He probably wouldn’t be able to get any sleep tonight. 

But for now, he took his mind off things.

I absolutely love this song as a sorta theme for Metal Sonic. Metal Overlords theme is much later in the playlist so we get this instead at the start followed by Sweet Passion for Amy as number 3. I find it super funny to have this come directly after Digital Love, which is all about this adorable dream full of gay longing and yearning (we love to yearn here) and then the first line of this song is just WAKE UP, in the Eggman Empire we don't have time for that sorta nonsense it is time for business as usual; aka being a pawn for Eggman in his schemes
