well, not when the rheumatologist you see is completely invalidating about it and your rheumatology blood panel comes back negative for anything!
#I can accept that maybe I don’t have a disorder like lupus or ra that they were testing for but like#the fact that out the gate he was just like ‘‘yeah some people just have naturally elevated ANA levels it’s usually nothing’’#like SIR????#I’m sitting in your office because I’ve had elevated ANA levels for over a year now and I cannot function in society due to my health issues#it probably IS something#I don’t know I wanna see if I can see another rheumatologist about it but what would even be the point?#no one wants to see me anyways because of my chronic Lyme diagnosis it took FOREVER for this guy to just see me#it’s at a point where when my doctor needs to refer me to places she leaves that off whatever she sends to them because otherwise#they won’t see me#like the only reason I haven’t seen a neurologist yet is because the ones I get referred to all refuse to see me#they can’t outright SAY that#but I remember my mom constantly checking to see about the referral and the receptionist basically said it in a way so it wouldn’t be#like grounds to sue for discrimination or whatever#even my mom tells me in appointments like this that I shouldn’t bring the Lyme up unless absolutely necessary#and every time it does come up the vibe instantly changes#like I don’t get it??? why do doctors hate me???#anyways yeah and I don’t know if it’d be a waste of time to see another rheumatologist because of the results I’ve already gotten#but I also can’t find them anywhere in the MyHealth app when I swear to god I had access to them before so??#I don’t know. I’m sorry I’m complaining. I just remember the time my doctor first brought it up to me and how excited I was#to finally have a lead on what could be happening inside my body and how to treat it#and then I get crushed when I realize that it doesn’t mean shit to anyone#I’m just having a hard night tonight#and no one wants to see Ethel Cain with me either and I’m just sad about that#and my depression is all fucky lately#everything is so big and loud and overwhelming and I’m so tired of it#vent tw

#toy txt post#its Jalapeño Egg time again!!!!!!!#and afternoon coffee#would love to get to a point. in my mental health. spoon distribution. executive function and time management that i could#hold a job and still have jalapeño egg and coffee everyday. maybe have a couple chickens or smth#ive gotten it to be fairly medium spoons on. a good day. or like high spoons medium high reward#the spoon to payoff ratio seems achievable to Balance#compliments the coffee well#if youre curious its Very Basic egg bc i am a Simple Man i and i dont like fancy shit with lots of ingredience generally.#not like on principle just like. statistically speaking.#pan with butter. 2-3 eggs bc that seems like a Normal and Reasonable Amount to allow myself to eat while leaving enough eggs for Future Me#as well. the butter i use is salted. if that matters. u can prolly get away with like olive oil or dairy substitute or somethin idk.#i can tolerate lactose and i like it with the butter. be generous w the butter. stir the eggs up in a little mug or smth like scrample em.#break the yolks and mix em in. cook eggs to your desired egg cookedness. put on plate#put sliced jalapeño pickles on top to desired amount#voila#jalapeño egg. you can alter this as you want. go crazy mix in all sorts of shit put the jalapeños in while youre cooking it cheese whatever#idc. i dont like all that stuff in mine and i prefer it w the jalapeños added after its done cooking personally. pairs well with#black coffee. good black cofffee. like pickle n coffee but elevated. think it takes me like maybe 30 min to do both egg and coffee and#clean up/set aside to clean up later. PSA for incoming grad students:
You’re about to enter into an abusive, dysfunctional relationship with your field. You will be managed and supervised by people who have no business interacting with other humans. Your academic future may end up in the hands of someone who hates you and will never tell you why.
Some advice:
-have friends and a support system or prioritize having friends and a support system outside of your department. It’s way too easy to get sucked into departmental gossip and drama and before you know it you’re gossiping about how N fucked A’s husband on the couch in the grad lounge and celebrating your thesis defense by shotgunning beer with the guy you’re in a situationship with and some of the “cool kids” while listening to Green Day (I love Green Day)
-yes there are “cool kids” and cliques and social hierarchies in grad school. That shit never goes away
-don’t have casual sex with people in your program for the love of god. Or at least, only do it if both partners are mature humans with good communication skills.
-these people will be your colleagues forever and academics hold GRUDGES
Don’t go in without SEVERAL plans for:
-what you will do when there’s no stable job market after graduation
-what you will do if the program destroys your mental health
-what you will do next if you decide that academia is not the right path for you
