BEING COMFORTABLE ALONE
Learning to be okay with being alone is a process that requires both self reflection and action. It's important to understand that being alone doesn't necessarily equate to loneliness, but rather, it can be an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery.
Tumblr media
EMBRACE SOLITUDE
This time alone can be used to explore your thoughts and feelings, understand your motivations, and consider your goals and aspirations. This introspection can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself, which is a key to personal growth.
FIND A HOBBY
Engage in activities that you enjoy and that foster creativity. This could be anything from reading, writing, painting, gardening, cooking, or even learning a new skill. These activities not only fill up your alone time but also help in boosting your mood and providing a sense of accomplishment.
FINDING INDEPENDENCE
Cultivating independence and self-reliance is another significant step in being comfortable with being alone. This involves learning to do things by yourself, from daily chores to making important decisions. This independence can boost your confidence, reduce feelings of loneliness, and make you more comfortable with spending time alone.
SOLITUDE= A BREAK
View solitude as a mental health break from social pressures. In our increasingly connected world, being constantly surrounded by others, both physically and virtually, can sometimes be overwhelming. Time spent alone can offer a much-needed respite from these social pressures, allowing you to recharge and refresh your mind.
Remember, being alone is not about isolation or loneliness, but rather about self-discovery, creativity, independence, and mental health. Embracing solitude can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

The Journey of an Independent Daughter: A Story of Survival and Growth
Read my latest piece, 'The Journey of an Independent Daughter: A Story of Survival and Growth,' I peel back the layers of what we often mistake for independence, revealing the hidden survival mechanism.
Mi Hija Es Muy Independiente: My Daughter is so Independent A story goes around my family often when someone talks about my childhood. They would say, “You were so quiet, so self-sufficient that your mom would have to go find you sometimes.” When hearing this story, I would equate that to my aggressive sense of independence and how mature I was from a young age. But then, when I started talking…

I think one of my favorite parts of the tma universe is how hard it is to put the fears in specific boxes. There are so many things that are still hard to contain into specifics and I love that. Sometimes I like to think of kinda vague ones just to try and think on what they could be. Like, being lost in a mall for example. There are so many different things it could be! You gotta get not the real specifics, what part of it is making you afraid, to put it into a category. Are you afraid of the being lost, not knowing where you’re going or how o get out? Are you afraid of the openness, how big the building is? Are you afraid of the not knowing where the people you came with are, maybe finding yourself without anyone with you? Even something simpler like being hit by a car! Are you scared of the possible death or the brutality of it?
anyways I just think it’s neat :]

Occasionally, one yearns for a bit of solitude, to wander aimlessly and become immersed in the unknown. It's essential to step back, take a breather, and momentarily vanish from the daily grind. Allow life's currents to carry you away, surrender to the flow. Release the burdens that have accumulated over time. In this moment of reprieve, look past the confines of your expectations, and you may just discover the astonishing beauty that has been waiting right in front of you. As you traverse this uncharted path, embrace the serendipitous encounters and unexpected joys that are bound to arise. Let the world surprise you with its hidden wonders, and in the midst of getting lost, you might find yourself anew.

Night Thoughts
When I was a lad growing up I always used to find it very relaxing looking up at the sky. Whether it was on a summer afternoon or in the early morning hours it didn’t matter. I always found great solace in it all. Now as I lay here in the garden dictating this blog onto my iPhone the time is 3.13am it has been a calm night. You hear the sounds of a few cars that go by and a rustling of the leaves from the trees but apart from all the expected noises, it’s been a very calm night.
Each experience feels uniquely personal, a journey into the vastness of the universe and the depths of one's own thoughts. You can really lose yourself. If you let it. It's a symphony of serenity, inviting you to pause, to breathe, and to simply be.
As you recline on the soft bed of grass, the cool earth cradles you, grounding you in the present moment. The worries of the day melt away, replaced by a sense of wonder and awe as you gaze upward.
Above, the canvas of the sky unfolds, dotted with countless stars shimmering like diamonds strewn across black velvet. Each pinprick of light tells a story, a tale of cosmic beauty and mystery that stretches across eons.
The constellations, those celestial patterns etched into the heavens by ancient civilisations, seem to come alive as you connect the dots, tracing the outlines of mythical beasts and legendary heroes. It's a reminder of humanity's enduring fascination with the stars, our quest to understand the universe and our place within it. I encourage you to download the app called Sky Guide it’s a great app for this kinda of hobby if you’re interested.
But stargazing isn't just about observing the distant reaches of space; it's also an introspective journey, a chance to reflect on the interconnectedness of all things. In the quiet of the night, thoughts drift like clouds across the sky, weaving intricate patterns of introspection and contemplation.
As you lay there, bathed in the gentle glow of moonlight, you can't help but feel a sense of humility and insignificance in the face of the cosmos. Yet, paradoxically, there's also a profound sense of belonging, of being an integral part of something much greater than yourself.
In those solitary moments, you find solace in the knowledge that you are not alone—that countless generations before you have looked up at the same stars, pondering the same mysteries of existence. It's a humbling reminder of our shared humanity and the fleeting beauty of life itself.
Just my thoughts while lying down tonight.

I would love to hear more about Birchspeckle, or whatever that cat that has the visions is called, I am very curious about them
Only if you're still taking asks of course.
There's a bit I've written about her here on the blog if you search through her tag, but their whole deal is that they're one of the clan healers, but they live away from the rest of their clanmates due to some pretty serious ostracization.
She wasn't born a clan cat, but was adopted into the clan at a young age while Micaclan was searching for a new territory to call home. She was taken in because of her oddly powerful connection to spirits of the deceased, which included Starclan (when the clan had to leave their previous territory, they lost much of their connection with Starclan, so anyone capable of communicating with Starclan was very much needed). However, as she grew older, it became clear just how different she was compared to her clanmates. Her prophecies were frequent and unsettling, and her appearance and size made her intimidating to most of her clanmates (she's a savannah cat so she is very Big). The clan as a whole became more wary of outsiders, and even though she was raised in the clan, Birchspeckle ended up feeling more and more unwelcome around her so-called family. She eventually decided to leave the camp and make her own den on the other side of Micaclan's territory, living in solitude for the most part.
In the past, I had the idea of them living on the edge of the territory to watch out for dangerous predators like cougars or coyotes, but I think I've changed my mind about that reasoning. Instead, I'll say the surface level reason for keeping their den far away is so that it can be a secondary location to treat highly contagious cats (so that there's less of a chance of serious diseases spreading through the clan), and to act as an emergency cache of healing supplies if anything happened to Owlpounce's den. The actual reason she lives so far from the camp is to give her space from the wary eyes of her clanmates.
Most of the clan don't actually dislike Birchspeckle, they just don't understand her. I've talked about this in previous posts, but Micaclan's big thing is that, as a whole, if they are uncomfortable with something or don't understand it, they default to ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away lol. Birchspeckle is technically an outsider (was adopted into the clan), is HUGE (savannah cat; she's got at least a head over even the tallest of her clanmates), and has a slightly off-putting personality/way of communicating (shes prob some flavor of nerodivergent tbh). Her being a healer helps a bit, healers are always a bit odd, but it doesn't change the fact that most of her clanmates won't even look at her (Owlpounce being the exception; they are besties).
In all honesty, they weren't ever really intended to be part of the main story, but she snuck her way into my heart so now she's got a role in the plot <3

Hermit Mode
Shaina Tranquilino
January 17, 2024
Tumblr media
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the constant hustle and bustle of modern life? Do social interactions drain your energy, leaving you longing for solitude? If so, then you might be familiar with the concept of hermit mode.
Hermit mode is a term that has gained popularity in recent years to describe a state of voluntary seclusion from society. It's not about being anti-social or avoiding people altogether; it's more about taking time for yourself and prioritizing self-care.
In today's fast-paced world, where we are constantly bombarded with information and expected to always be available, hermit mode offers a much-needed break. It allows us to recharge our batteries, reflect on our lives, and reconnect with ourselves.
During hermit mode, we intentionally disconnect from social media, limit our interactions with others, and focus on activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. This could include reading books, practicing meditation or yoga, pursuing hobbies or passions that have taken a backseat due to our busy schedules.
One of the key benefits of hermit mode is increased self-awareness. By spending time alone without distractions, we can delve deep into our thoughts and emotions. We gain clarity about what truly matters to us and identify areas in our lives that need attention or improvement. This introspection can lead to personal growth and a better understanding of ourselves.
Moreover, hermit mode provides an opportunity for rest and relaxation. Our minds and bodies need downtime to function optimally. In the solitude of hermit mode, we can sleep longer hours if needed, take naps throughout the day when we feel tired, or simply enjoy moments of stillness and silence. These periods of rest help reduce stress levels and promote overall well-being.
Another advantage of hermit mode is the freedom it brings from external expectations. When we retreat from society temporarily, we release ourselves from societal pressures and the need to conform. Instead of worrying about fitting in or meeting societal norms, we can focus on our own desires and aspirations. This newfound freedom allows us to explore our creativity, try new things, and follow paths that truly resonate with us.
However, it's important to note that hermit mode should not be confused with isolation or social withdrawal due to mental health issues. While solitude can be beneficial for everyone, those struggling with anxiety or depression may require professional support. It's crucial to seek help if you find yourself unable to engage in healthy social interactions or experience persistent feelings of loneliness.
Hermit mode offers a valuable opportunity for self-care and personal growth in today's fast-paced world. By deliberately retreating from society for a period of time, we can recharge our energy, gain self-awareness, and prioritize our well-being. So next time you feel overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life, consider taking some time off and embracing the peacefulness of hermit mode.
