When you get (badly) injured

Amity: PANICC. She is calling Emira so fucking fast. Once the initial panic calms down she wraps abomination goo around the wound. Once Emria shows up she majorly calms down. Once Emria is done she makes sure you're fully alright.

Luz: Screaming and crying. I'm joking but she is scared. She quickly gets wrap-around band-aids with normal fun band-aids on top. Makes sure you are healing properly. Will not tolerate you overexerting yourself. She'll help you do anything that requires you to move the part of your body that you hurt.

Willow: Tries her best to be calm. She disinfects and badges you up. Then nearly kills you with a bear hug. She is slightly more protective of you for the next week or two (I.E. any time you fall a bunch of vines sprout up stopping you from falling.)

Hunter: More shaken up than you. He has a lot of knowledge on how to bandage wounds after being in the Emperor's coven. He shakily disinfects the wound and puts wrap-around bandages on it. He keeps asking if you're okay over and over. He is overprotective of you afterward. Overall pretty okay.

Vee: Has no clue what to do. While she was in captivity she rarely got majorly hurt. She quickly fetches Luz and Camila and asks them for advice. Camila is way more helpful than Luz. (also get ready for at least one hour of cuddles.)

Raine: They are so very worried about you :(. Since they led multiple rebel groups they have informed themselves on how to properly patch up a wound. Gives you painkillers when they can. Also helps you rest with a bard spell.

Eda: "Pretends to be all cold-hearted but actually cares a lot!" She has bought potions to help heal people so she gives you one of them. After you fully healed she cuddles with you in her nest. She's in harpy mode and has her wings wrapped around you.

Emira: She can heal you herself. So she isn't really worried at all. She gives you a lot of kisses though. 10/10 would recommend as a caretaker.

Edric: He panics. Hard. He gives you healing potions like Eda. You do heal pretty quickly (especially compared to how much he panicked.) He does baby you even a week after you fully heal-

The Collector: They can just heal you with a snap of their fingers lmao.

Lilith: She is actually pretty calm. In the same vein as Raine and Hunter, she used to basically be second in command of the Emperor's coven. So she calmly patches you up. While lecturing you to be more careful.

Gus: Very sad to see you hurt. He swiftly gets one of his friends. Most likely Willow. Gives you so many hugs.

though after getting to know emira better and meeting her family as well, you notice something

Emira despite what most believed was always watching her surroundings and was very observant. She had learned from a young age to pick up on the little details in the world and she used these observed details to navigate through life. This hidden skill of hers is what made her such a successful illusionist as she was able to pick up on what was and wasn't real rather quickly.

So that's why she was very surprised when she realized she had missed you. You were on your own most of the time, hanging out in the back of the Illusion classroom. She wasn't sure if you preferred that or not but that's what she picked up on. She wasn't really sure when she first noticed you but when she did it was hard not too see you all the time. In the hallways, at the library, sitting and having lunch in the cafeteria, hanging in the back of various lecture rooms. She couldn't put her finger on it but she thought you were interesting, always lost in thought or a good book. You were withdrawn but never seemed to mind talking or working with others. You were a good student and a hard worker. Something she could admire as she knew how hard that was.

"Talk to them." Edric whispered to her and Emira turned to send a pointed glare at him. She hadn't noticed her brother leaning in to see who she was looking at and being caught made her flustered. Looking at her notes she swallowed as her thoughts filled with you. You were doing it again, making her miss things and she never missed anything...

He simply chuckled putting his hands up with a sly smile at his sister. "What? You've been staring like half the class, sorry that I noticed." He responded flicking a crumpled paper ball all at her. Emira caught it and still glaring at him unamused at his antics he smiled. Humming at her glare before rolling his eyes as she refused to stop. "Look the teacher gave us a free period for studying. Go ask them what their reading. See if they need a partner for another class. Ask about their hobbies. Just I don't know... maybe start a conversation." He suggests with a smug look.

"But I can't just-" Emira says flustered at the idea of flirting with a random student. It was true you'd caught her attention but she hadn't even met you yet! She didn't want to ruin whatever this was by making the first move before the both of you were ready.

"Emira. Go." Her twin persuaded gently. He patted her back in encouragement making her pause. Dropping her pen her chair squeaked as she stands up. Face red she rolls her eyes as she rips off a sign that had a picture of her surrounded with hearts that said love sick dork drawn by her brother. Swallowing looking at the paper glancing back to see if you noticed it she held it close before she nodded. Throwing it at Edric's head he smiled as she began to walk towards you.

"Hey cutie." She hums placing her elbows on your desk so her chin could rest on her hands as she looked at you. She'd plopped herself backwards on a chair and now she was smiling at you as she tilted her head gauging your reaction. You really intrigued her and she wanted to know more about you since she hadn't noticed you for so long. But she also just thought you seemed cool and whether this became a crush or just a friendship she wanted to get closer to you.

You look up at her with a soft smile before you winked.

"What's up hot stuff?" You respond without missing a beat. Emira feels her face warm at the comment but she swallows it down and remains composed.

"You always have your nose in a book. Is it any good?" She questions tapping what you'd just been reading. Tilting her head to get a good look she was surprised at all the pictures before she realized they were notes you had written. You had written all over your school book which surprised her.

You were getting more and more interesting with everything she learned about you.

"I'd like to read you more." You answer with a shy smile making Emira's ear tips turn a soft shade of pink. "But I've enjoyed this one a lot. I have a lot of thoughts on it." You answer truthfully as she continues to scan the page picking up little details about you from how you wrote and drew pictures.

"Well I'd like to hear them!" Emira blurts out before her entire face darkens. She of course wanted to keep your attention but that was just embarrassing. You however, just smile and nod with a laugh. Staring awestruck she decided she loved your laugh.

"I wouldn't mind that." You hum before the class bell rings. Standing up with said book pulled close to your chest you put everything in your bag. "You free for lunch?" She nods not believing she just scored a lunch date despite not being her usual smooth self, she hoped her brother would understand and wouldn't mind being on his own today.

Standing up quickly and holding her arm out for you, you with no heistation loop your arm with hers. "I was wondering if you'd make a move." You hum and her face goes red again. "I'm glad you did." You say honestly squeezing her arm close before you two begin to walk down the desk steps and towards the cafeteria.

Edric watched with a smug look on his face. "Bold move sister." He hums crossing his arms as he watches the two of you leave.

Emira blushed before squeezing your arm tighter. Bold move indeed.

Luz thinks it’s cool. She is the definition of the meme “wow you are transgender that is so cool” for real though, very supportive and accepting, doesn’t tell anyone until you’ve told them but she will try to be really encouraging, she tries not to push you into telling people about yourself but she also wants you to be comfortable around more people!

Amity and you in the t4t let’s go. Very supportive and knows how to help you through your dysphoria. Though everyone experiences it differently especially since you and her most likely use different pronouns lol. She’s a good shoulder to cry on when you need, as well as a good person to go to when putting on clothes.

Emira is kinda like “yeah, I knew” she just kinda knows this stuff. It’s easy for her to recognize since she knew so many gay and trans people in her life including her sister and probably her brother lol. She knows how to help you through dysphoria and often goes with you to buy clothes and loves helping you with your hair.

Edric is super chill about it, sorta the type to be like “if you need me, I’m here” but he has no idea what he’s doing lol. He can barely manage himself without emiras help so unless you tell him EXACTLY what to do to help you, he’s completely lost. He feels terrible about it, but please understand him.

at the sight of the blood she instantly knows what might be happening. she sits quietly, mulling it over and it's up to you to notice what is wrong. when you do and you begin to try and explain, she snaps out of her thoughts and hugs you very tightly. she tries to think of what eda or her mom would do if she was in your situation. finally, she settles on trying to distract you from your negative thoughts. after all, that's what she does when she feels down. so, human or witch, you'll be hearing fandom lore from earth and watching lots of movies together while being cuddled and hugged in all the ways you can imagine

she'd be on the calmer side, i think. mostly, she's just very worried that you're struggling alone. she asks you to talk with her when she finds out. during the conversation she is very straightfoward, wants to know for how long has this been happening and why. after all, she's not going to be able to help if you won't talk to her. of course she understands that this is quite sudden and she can't expect you to spill your guts against your will. if you're not ready to open up, she gets it. she tells you that she'll be there to listen when you're ready. ask you to give her a signal (send a text, say a specific thing) when you want to cut again, so that you won't have to talk about it but she will still be able to help

willow

squeezes your hand in shock as soon as she realizes. it allerts you t the fact that something's off, but it's already too late. she knows. immidately, she puts her hand on your back. gently stroking your shoulder, she tells you that she doesn't judge you. this isn't a way to deal with whatever is going on, though. and she's aware that she can't be your therapist, she wouldn't be of any help. but if you want to just open up to her, that is more than fine. she suggests that you should look for a therapist if this is something you're struggling with. assures you it's no shame to look for help. meanwhile she offers emotional support and a warm hug

seeing dried up blood, she curiously wanders with her eyes, looking for the source of it. when it finally becomes apparent that you have been self harming, she gently brings it up in the conversation. she assures you that you don't need to tell her things you aren't ready to tell her yet. throughout the years she had to become a mom figure to her siblings and grow up faster, so at least partially, she knows how to act. of course, she never dealt with self harm before, but she comforted her siblings and healed them, so she tells herself she can be of help here. asks if she can heal your cuts and does so when you allow her. the whole time she holds your hand, as if worried that you'll disappear the second she lets go. you can be sure you'll be recieving a lot of hugs and kisses too. then, she asks what would you need from her in terms of support. she sees no point in trying to help you without asking for your needs first, so she sits with you and lets you explain what kind of support you need. at the end of the talk she reminds you that she loves you and you two will get through it together

oh, she def panics here. she has no idea what to do, so she just straight up rolls up your sleeve and stares at it, then at you. it's all very fast - she asks about the blood and the cuts, about the reason, tells you how much she loves you and then asks if it's bc of her (obvi not to be manipulative, but she's not a great person so she figures it's better to ask). it's honestly a lot to deal with. only when you start getting nervous she tones it down. she still doesn't know what to do though. she asks if she can hug you and is being very gentle with her words, although she might slip up and get a bit demanding, telling you to promise you won't do this again. this is obviously a crappy thing to say and she catches herself. after all, you're her girlfriend, she would do anything to help you with whatever you're going through. not just to make you be happy, she wants you to actually be happy again. her heart is in the right place, but she might be like 'is that bc of sbd? i can beat them up for you, just tell me'. in the end she calms down and cuddles you, gives you some room to speak and tell her what you need. meanwhile, she holds you gently and strokes your head, playing with your hair

↳ Principal Bump has caught you, Luz and Gus sneaking around Hexside, and throws you 3 + Matt into detention.

↳ Detention shrieks your names, before attempting to catch you and lock you in its pods.

↳ Gus is to terrified to question it about right then and there, but he does after Luz is accepted into Hexside.

↳ “Detention called you Y/N. How come?”

↳ “It’s my name??”

↳ *insert little dorky smirk*

↳ Gus just nods, also smiling.

↳ It took her 20 minutes I shall add.

↳ Anyway- when Hunter came to take the Palismen back to Belos, he heard Luz use your nickname, and just assumed it was your real name.

↳ This dork however, didn’t bother using your ‘name’ and instead called you ‘wild witch’. Any witch associated with the human is known as a wild witch.

↳ Basically up until you’re all in the human realm, Hunter only knows you as N/n, and doesn’t really question you about whatsoever.

↳ Then Luz introduces all of you to Vee and Camila, where she uses your real name.

TOH WITH A IMMORTAL READER!

Okay so this wasn’t a specific request or anything so I’m just going to answer here with how I think each character would cope with having an immortal significant other. This got very long as I included basically everyone that’s on my masterlist… oops!

Also, to reiterate, these are just my thoughts so they’re very biased towards how I interpret the characters — and your relationship with the characters can be romantic or queer-platonic or similar depending on your preference!

Thoughts below the cut!

Adrian Graye-Vernworth

doesn’t even remotely believe you at first and will probably assume you’re joking. but once he does recognise your honesty then he’ll probably have something of a breakdown for a while and step back from your relationship — equal parts jealous of the life you’ve lived and horrified at the idea of just being a blip on the radar of your infinite life. it’s 50/50 whether this is a dealbreaker for him and he’ll either slowly inch back into your relationship or just break up with you because of the stress.

Alador Blight

alador is mostly neutral to your immortality when it comes to your relationship. like he’ll call on you for a second opinion when he’s working on something and will draw on your experience to further help his fellow witches — but he doesn’t really think about it any beyond that. though he does sometimes worry about you and how you’ll cope when he’s gone (because he knows that losing you would break him).

Amity Blight

when you tell her it’s quite the shock to the system and she doesn’t really know what to say or how to react. she’ll freeze up and you can see her thinking as she considers her response before she finally squeezes your hands and thanks you for telling her. she’d want to stay with you and wouldn’t want to break up, but she’d definitely have a few crises over the fact that you’ve lived so long before her and you will live so long after — but she also finds a small bit of comfort in the idea that she’ll never have to live without you.

Belos / Philip Wittebane

he’s been alive for far longer than he ever should have been because of his mission, so the idea of immortal entities isn’t difficult for him to believe. so upon finding out about your condition, he’s amazed but not necessarily startled by it — asking you about your origins and if there are more beings like you out there. if he truly cares about you, he’ll stick by you for as long as he’s able to keep his form stable — but if he doesn’t then he’ll just use you to find a way to complete his goal and lengthen his life further.

Boscha

boscha is someone else who wouldn’t believe you when you told her — going from genuine disbelief to shaky doubt to outright terrified denial and then through the stages of grief as she comes to terms with your condition. as sad as it sounds, this would probably end up being a deal breaker and would end your relationship as she would struggle too much with your past and future to be with you beyond that.

Camila Noceda

she doesn’t believe you at first, thinking that you’re just older than her as she’s seen some strange things but immortality is just so far beyond that. it takes her some time to come to terms with this but you do end up bonding over the losses you’ve experienced throughout your lives — you, your various lovers and friends, and her, luz’s father. she insists on learning your native language and teaching you hers so that you have an experience to remember her by.

Collector

having an immortal significant other would be the best case scenario for collector given his own life span. they wouldn’t have to worry about losing you prematurely and you’d be able to understand the issues he’s faced throughout their long life — whilst also having all the time in the world to grow with him and together as a couple. so they would be hopeful to have a spouse with this trait.

Darius Deamonne

this wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for darius but he would have a serious, long conversation about where you both stand and how your experiences would impact your relationship. he wouldn’t necessarily ask about your past relationships but he would be curious about older ages of magic on the isles and how other realms function — and especially how that can help the rebellion against belos.

Eberwolf

they’re pretty chill about the whole thing, honestly — like it rarely ever comes up in conversation so there’s no real impact on your relationship. you two just continue vibing together and spending the time you have wisely (by having fun) without the stresses such a realisation often bring. really they’re the best person you could have told — they only bring it up once or maybe twice and it’s only to make fun of you (lovingly, of course).

Eda Clawthorne

your immortality means that you have more knowledge of the world before belos and, thus, wild magic and magic as a whole. this means that eda will be looking to you to learn more about the owl beast, the history of those like her and if you ever came to know others with similar curses. she’d also insist on you teaching her about the people you loved and she’ll happily talk about raine (she’s far from the jealous type, but she is something of a gossip). she doesn’t care about making scrapbooks or taking pictures and prefers living in the moment with you and your family — living in the ‘doing’ world rather than focusing on capturing every little thing. you’ll look back on this with king and fleetingly wish you had more pictures, but the memory of her laugh and smile is tangible enough that neither of you feel like you’re missing out on too much.

Edric Blight

he will probably have something of an existential crisis about his own mortality when you tell him and would insist on finding a way to make himself live as long as you do. he starts comparing himself to the people you loved and lost and you’ll end up having to talk him into getting some help for it. your relationship will be permanently changed by this, but you will grow and heal with time — it’s just such a shock for him that he takes a bit of a mental health wobble whilst he comes to terms with it.

Emira Blight

em tends to bottle up her feelings a lot and will initially come off as very accepting and calm about the whole thing — but make no mistake this poor woman is one mislabelled jar of seasoning away from a breakdown. she’s now very aware of her own mortality and that she’s one of the probably dozens you’ve loved and lost and she’s absolutely terrified of being forgotten and lost to the sands of time. she’ll insist on keeping thorough, reliable records of your time together and by the time she’s old and you’re young you’ll be spending your last days together looking over them and laughing and crying and holding each other — finally ready to say goodbye.

Gus Porter

he will bombard you with questions about your life nonstop. did you ever live in the human realm? how has it changed? how has the boiling isles changed? there’s so much he wants to know and he has all the time in the world to listen to you talk — and he will note down everything you say and look at you with complete interest. so yeah he’ll still love you just as much as before, he’s just very nosy and eager to learn.

Hunter Wittebane

hunter is someone that would likely have a few hang-ups regarding true- and pseudo- immortality given his status as a clone/grimwalker. he’d have to do a lot of thinking regarding your relationship once he found out and a lot of serious conversations would be had about his natural lifespan compared to yours. in the end you would stay together and he’d be with you for a significant period of it (a few hundred years given him being similar to palismen) with him insisting that you don’t bring him back once he’s gone.

Lilith Clawthorne

she’d be absolutely entranced by your condition and would start fangirling over everything you must have experienced. you’ll end up getting interviewed and documented in every way possible as she asks about your history in and beyond the isles. though she might spend a bit more time on the deadwardian period than anything else (she’s biased, okay!).

Luz Noceda

luz would be amazed with you and would be eager to learn your story — as well as just about everything about you. she wants to learn your native language and hear about the cultures and people you knew throughout the years, especially if it involves some form of magic. she does, however, insist on making lots of memories with you and recording them so you never forget her.

Mattholomule

another one that doesn’t believe you but in mattholomule’s case he never ends up believing you. in his mind you’re just making a weird joke and there comes a point where you just stop trying to correct him and just live your life out with him — watching him grow old and grey whilst you remain the same. it’s on his death bed when he finally realises, but the life you shared was full of laughter and love so neither of you find it in yourselves to complain.

Odalia Blight

she is the type to use your status to her advantage which means that your relationship dynamic would inevitably shift. like she’d still care about you and be as affectionate as before, but she insists on showing you off and presenting herself as the wife of an immortal being in order to put herself above her fellow witches. you can tell her to knock it off. it will not work.

Raine Whispers

raine is heartbroken for you when they realise just how much you’ve lost throughout your life and they insist on memorialising your lost loved ones however they can. they help you write ballads for deceased lovers and learn to play songs from your home (even if their pronunciation is very shaky) because they care so deeply about you. they don’t talk about their concerns often, but they do ask that you remember them — and they leave you plenty of songs behind to do so.

Steve

as he’s quite possibly the most chilled out person in the boiling isles, steve doesn’t really care about the fact that you’re immortal. like when you tell him he’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and your past, but otherwise your relationship will stay the same and he’ll keep on keeping on. might expect the occasional cool story from your past, though, when you’ve both been drinking some apple blood.

Terra Snapdragon

she will most likely treat this as an opportunity to gain more power through your relationship. like she does care for you as you are her spouse at the end of the day, but she’s also incredibly power-hungry and having a partner who is immortal and has more experience than basically every other living entity is the ideal opportunity for her to get what she wants. so she definitely wouldn’t leave you, but the dynamic between the two of you would definitely change.

Viney

this wouldn’t be the end of your relationship but it would change a lot. viney insists on the two of you continuing to live in the moment together, focusing on making lasting memories doing things that you both love so that you never forget her. that means frequent fun dates, time spent teaching as a team, helping everyone you can and just spending time together doing what you love and having as much fun as you can whilst doing so.

Willow Park

willow is shocked by the revelation of your immortality but she doesn’t make too much of a big deal of it. like she will sit down with you and discuss anything you want to talk about, but generally your relationship remains unchanged. the only change is that she starts writing letters for you and hiding them — wanting to leave something behind for you once she’s gone.

A/n: Author stops writing comfort scenrios challge (Impossible)

Amity: As a person who has been the bully she's honestly more pissed. While she knows people bully others for many different reasons she can't help but project how she was feeling when bullying Willow onto your bullies. And she does not like her past self. She doesn't know quite how to comfort you she just hugs you while rubbing your back. When she confronts them she didn't want to be too mean. But Amity also does not take others hurting the ones she loves lightly.

Luz: Feels horrible that you had to deal with that. She is also pissed at the bullies. But before she can do anything to them she has to make sure you're okay. She tells you how perfect you are and that the bullies were clearly lying. She yells at them like a lot. Depending on how bad the bullying was she either has a sore throat or completely lost her voice.

Willow: She hears that! Which made her fume. Plants slightly crack the floor when you're telling her about it as she's trying to contain her anger. Once you were done she calms herself down and reassured you that you are amazing. She soon leaves to confront them. The next day not only are they not bullying you anymore, but they are also extremely nice to you.

Hunter: The (wo)man was too stunned to speak. In his eyes you're perfect so how anyone can be mean to you is beyond him. Also, the people in the Empores Coven weren't exactly the nicest to him. So if he has even a slight idea of what you're going thru he's super upset. When he talks to the bullies he subconsciously uses some of the fear tactics he learned at the coven. Which works, to say the least.

Vee:  She feels horrible. She's not sure how to help but tells you how much she loves you and spends a bunch of time with you. She is too nervous to go to your bullies. But Masha looks suspiciously like they got into a few fist-fights.

Raine: Imdeate hugs and cuddles <3. They bring you many blankets. They don't want to yell at the bullies right away. So instead they just lecture them. It's surprisingly the second most effective tactic only second to Willow's. While it might seem kinda lame (Because it was.) But imagine getting "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed"-ed by the former head of the bard coven.

Eda: she is not great at comforting you. But she picks you up and finds your bully. She pointed to said bully and asked if it was them. When you told her it was she just straight-up hexed them in front of them. Like didn't even try to hide it. Which is made slightly weirder considering that probably would have left you alone if the Owl Lady threatened them.

Emira: Oh she is mc-fucking pissed. But before that, she gives hugs you and rubs a circle on your back. Also maybe a massage. She decides not to confront them, she uses a bunch of illusions to mess with them. Does it make them think they're going insane? A little. But they also did psychological to you, so an eye for an eye as they say.

Edric: He is very sad. He lets you speak as long as you want. Once you're done he leaves for a second and makes a call to Emira and Amity. He then cuddles and watches tv with you. He also keeps complimenting you. Once Em and Amity come back it's pretty dang obvious they got into a fight. Mainly because despite being roughed up Emira kept laughing.

The Collector: Frist of all if you bully the Collector's friend then you're the biggest idiot in the world. When Terra was even slightly mean to King They turned her into a puppet. But they bring you a bunch of plushies and play with you. Once the Collector goes to the bullies you have to tell them not to hurt the bullies. He pinky swears to let you know he really won't. Well, whatever he did it definitely worked. But just to let you know, if it wasn't for you the Venn diagram of people who are mean to you and people on the missing person list would be a circle.

Lilith: Oh no, oh fuck no. Not happening. She gets Hooty to comfort you while she leaves. Side note Hooty is weirdly good at comforting people. Any back with Lilith she is pissed and yelling at the bullies. She is not above threats. Anyway, they won't be going anywhere near you for a while.

Gus: He was also A victim of Boscha's and Amity's bullying.  Very upset. Y'know what Emira did but? Yeah, he does that but all at once. Like that one scene with Bria's illusions. Listen he is not going to tolerate any more bullying.

-Dance parties in his room, just the two of you, his music taste is either impeccable or awful, no in between and usually switches between both.

-Spontaneous dates, does he have any clue where you two are going? Absolutely not, but it’ll be a adventure he insists, you’ll either find a really unknown, amazing stall at the market of accidentally discover the galder stones at an illusionist graveyard.

-Him introducing you to Emira, and getting embarrassed when she hooks an arm around your shoulders and starts spilling about how nervous he was to talk to you, and how he use to ramble to her about how beautiful you were before you got together.

-If he does end up introducing you to his parents, he’ll immediately jump to your defence if his mother starts making snide comments, he usually ignores her but he doesn’t mess around when it comes to you.

-Late night calls because he’s bored and missing you, doing homework while talking about your days if you weren’t together, he’ll always listen patiently and never interrupt you, people do that to him a lot so he’ll always make sure to make you feel listened too, especially if you’re venting.

Little Secrets - emira blight x reader

summary: you and emira have been friends for a while, but when feelings get in the way how will you both take it?

word count: 1909

Today was going to be the day. You were going to tell Emira everything that went on inside your head anytime she was around or the way she made butterflies come alive inside of your stomach with just her words. You kept reassuring yourself that everything was going to be okay, everything would work out this time. Because you had been boosting your confidence for weeks but every time you tried to make plans with Emira she always either canceled last minute or said she was busy doing Titan only knows.

You were worried she may have been distancing yourself and the confidence you had been building would be for nothing because what’s the point in telling a witch you love her if she doesn’t even love you back?

Sighing, you stepped into Hexside. The red illuminating you being in the bard track, which you have been quite proud of actually. You had always worked very hard for what you wanted and now because you had worked, you were at the top of your class and won almost every witch’s duel you’d been challenged to.

Walking down the halls, you watched as Emira was standing next to her locker with a somewhat distressed Edric. You walked over to them, but the closer you got the slower your feet seemed to move because being near the mischievous had your heart in a completely melted puddle. Luckily for you though, Emira noticed you walking towards her and smiled upon seeing you. She motioned you over and that was what quickened your step. The encouragement that she still wanted you around.

The minute you got close enough for Emira to put her arms around you, she did. She leaned her elbows on your shoulders and did what she did every morning.

“Mornin’ shortstack,” she giggled and winked at you. Your cheeks reddened at the nickname because it didn’t matter how many times Emira had called you that, you still reacted the same. You eventually asked about what happened with Edric and Em looked at you before bursting out laughing.

“He sent a love poem to their mom!” You looked at the disgruntled boy and covered your mouth with your hands to silence the laughter emitting from your mouth. You rubbed his shoulder in silent comfort and he smiled at you before deflating against his locker once more.

“Don’t worry Ed, I’m sure the love note was worth it and it was amazing. Maybe next time just read who you’re sending it to,” You whispered. The boy sighed but eventually got up from the ground and bounded off to who knows where: a look of plastered determination on his face. Oh no.

“I’m sure he’ll be fine, but you and I should get heading to our respective classes, bean.” Emira took your hand in hers and trailed down the halls with you dragging behind her. You gulped down any form of embarrassment in your throat and just stared at her holding your hand. Today seemed different like it would actually go your way for once. Emira seemed closer today, actually keeping up with her normal wants for physical touch and her teasing jokes you loved to listen to. She even seemed a bit reluctant to let you go to class, but eventually, she let go of your fingers and let you get to class on time so you could avoid going to the detention pit.

You took your normal seat at the front of the classroom and watched as the teacher started the lesson on different chords for string instruments, even how to utilize them more in battle. Eventually, you blanked out until the teacher assigned some partner work. You were now working with another bard student to perfect your bow strokes against the violin you used (yeah ik, raine whispers who?). The teacher was coming around all of the pairs as they had finally started to duel. She had complimented your technique and stance, but the moment of distraction had caused the student you were dueling to take their chance to get a strike on you. They blew into their recorder and a strike went against your cheek. You grimaced upon feeling the blood bloom on your cheek, but looked at the student, anger bubbling in you.

You played the strings on your violin, a light illuminating the whole room and causing objects in the room to flow with the music you were playing. A sudden note had the student who struck you lifted into the air and before they knew it they had landed on their own desk, groaning and mumbling to themselves about ‘choosing the wrong track’ and whatnot.

The day had been passing by slowly yet quickly, your excitement was getting the better of you and all you had been fantasizing about all day was what you were going to say to Emira when you saw her next.

“Hey, bean!” You looked up at the green haired who was leaning against your shoulder and peering down at you. A smirk was etched on her face from the way you jumped upon suddenly seeing her. But you snapped yourself out of it, this was the moment you needed to speak to her and you weren’t letting yourself take any more of the excuses. You needed to do this, for yourself and for her.

“Em, I really need to talk to you-” Before you could finish your sentence she was dragging you off once again.

“We need to go to the library and help Edric find a book so he can impress his date tonight!” Your heart ached the minute she said date because that was all you had wanted to do was ask her on a proper date. Not some hang-out where her mother interrupted or she had one of her siblings around or where you had too much homework to listen but something where you could just tell her how you felt and she would be listening all the way.

“But Em-” She turned around to face you.

“No, Y/n, this is really important and Edric is counting on us!” You stared at her, your eyes were wide with disbelief. All of the weeks of being told to wait and being told later and now being told that something was more important? She didn’t realize what she had said hurt you, yes, but it did and you wouldn’t deny yourself feeling the emotions. You let your hand fall out of hurts and looked at the ground.

“I’m sorry Em, but I don’t think I have time tonight to help you, good luck though,” You mumbled, your tone sullen and you walked away from a wide-eyed Emira.

Laying in your bed, you couldn’t help when you started to swipe at your cheeks. Scowling from time to time at the random pain from the open wound you were trying to tend to. But you wouldn’t stop crying long enough for you to get a proper band-aid on and it not fall. You sighed and eventually just gave up. Walking away from the healing kit your dad gave you, you opened your window and looked at the sun which was now setting.

Obviously, today had not been the day. And maybe it never would be. Maybe fate had other plans that did not entail Emira. The thought of Emira not being in your life though made tears prick the corner of your eyes. As much as you were hurt by it all, you still loved the girl and you knew you just needed some time to breathe and come back.

You heard a tapping on your window and upon opening it, saw Batticus with a note in his mouth. When you took the note from him, he flew off.

Library, URGENT!! -em

Sighing, you called over your staff and made your way to the library in Bonebourough. As much as you didn’t want to be here, you knew that when Emira needed you, you would always be there. Opening the large doors to the building, you noticed how devoid of light it all seemed to be. Maybe they were in here without permission?

Walking through the building in search of a light, you eventually tripped over something and landed face-first into the ground. Above you, you heard shuffling and drew your staff out into a defensive position. You never knew what kind of tricks the twins played sometimes, but you weren’t in the mood and you weren’t going to let yourself be caught in one of their traps.

The lights eventually turned on, and that was when you saw it all.

The flowers. The banners. Everyone working and mainly topping it all off, Emira in the middle of the flourish.

Emira stood in the middle of the book aisles, a banner hung over her with your favorite kind of flowers holding up the banner. Little illusions of lights swarmed around you and they brought you forward to where Emira was standing. She was all dressed up, her face looked nervous, and a bashful smile on her face.

“Emira…what is all of this?” Emira took in a deep breath and let it out before looking at you. She smiled gently at you before taking your hand in hers.

“Okay bean, I know this isn’t what you’re used to from me, but I just need to start this off by saying I’m sorry. I’ve been ditching you for weeks without any explanation and I didn’t realize how bad I was hurting you til now.” She squeezed your hand before continuing. “I’m not trying to give myself an excuse, but the reason I have been leaving you behind for so long is so I could get this all around.” Emira motioned around to all of the directions and that was when you finally noticed the words taking shape on the banner. The lights illuminating it from behind.

You were awestruckby it all. Never in your right mind would you have thought this was what she had been doing for weeks, and she had been doing it all for you. You looked back at her and noticed the worry etched in her eyes, but she continued to speak before you could get can answer out. You probably weren’t going to give a coherent one just yet, your insides were twisting and leaping for joy.

“I really like you bean, you’re always there for me when I need you. Your smarts outdo practically everyone’s in our year and everything you do somehow manages to make me feel queasy because of how much I like you. I know I’m not saying the most romantic things, I’m not exactly a poet but if I could write the world for you, I would.” You felt a sheen start to cover your eyes, but it never fell as a huge grin overtook your whole face. You grabbed Emira’s face in your own hands and placed a gentle kiss on her lips before taking your lips off of hers.

“Emira, I like you too. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you for weeks now,” You said in between small laughs. Emira’s red face turned into one of shock at your words.

“Of course I will go to Grom with you.” Emira’s smile grew bigger and she took your hands and pulled you forward so that your lips met hers once more.

Maybe your timing had finally been right.

Edric was so happy when he met you. You got along with Emira, his parents approved of you, and best of all his little sister Amity really seemed to like you. Plus you both loved illusion magic and had interests in other tracks so you didn't judge him for his experiments with mixed magic. It was hard to tick off all his boxes but he finally found someone and you were perfect for him.

You worked at the library with Amity as an assistant to the Head librarian. This is how he met you. He'd often visit the library in secret to find books about beast keeping or potions to research in his free time. But he also went there to playfully cause trouble and mess with his little sister who read to the kids.

One day however, you were there and he was confused because Amity was scheduled for this time. As you began to read he became enamoured with the story noticing how you used little illusions to help the kids understand the story better. Your illusions reminded him of the Wailing Star with how real they were and soon he was sucked into your story telling wanting to know what would happen next despite it being a kids book. Amity comes up behind him demanding what he wants and Edric is just at a loss for words. You finish the story and look their way having heard Amity. Before she can introduce him and he can meet you he's running away flustered.

He started coming around more often after that encounter. He was embarrassed sure but he just couldn't get you out of his head. Edric tried to defend himself and say he was spending more time at the "boring" library because he wanted to bother Amity but in truth he just wanted to hear your stories and learn more about you. His sisters caught on to his lies quickly despite his well thought out excuses and effort to hide his feelings. Emira wanted to know why her twin was avoiding her and Amity was demanding to know why he seemed to be stalking you. Edric was left a stuttering mess as they interrogated him before he finally blurted out he liked you!

When Amity realized her brothers feelings were genuine she began to set up meeting times for you two to bump into each other playing match maker. You were her coworker but also her friend and she respected and looked up to you a lot. Although the thought of her brother intruding on your friendship bothered her she knew you two would be a good match. Emira gave Edric his space so he could figure his feelings out but always kept an eye on her brother to make sure he was okay. She often gave him pep talks before he went off to find you or relationship advice before making herself scarce. She was proud of her brother for doing this even if she was a little jealous he got a partner first.

Edric took it slow and safe. Despite being perceived as a very confident teen with a carefree attitude he had a lot of insecurities and was worried about jumping straight into a relationship with you. He wanted to be your friend before your boyfriend. He had a reputation for being a heart breaker at Hexside and he didn't want you to think awful things about him before he even had a chance. You however were not one to judge a book by its cover.

(Amity had also been acting as his wingman in secret, saying really nice though sometimes embarrassing things about her brother to you)

You help him find books about different types of magic with no judgement and even have some suggestions for the tracks he was studying. You took him seriously and we're always kind and maybe even flirty? He knows it was your job to help him but it was more than that. Making people happy and comfortable, it was just who you were.

You laughed at his dumb jokes, enjoyed when he pranked rude people in the library, and had long discussions with him about things he couldn't talk to anyone else about. You saw his silly troublemaker side but you reached deeper and saw who he was behind his bad boy persona. You talked about anything and everything and even snuck him in after hours for fun. You obviously enjoyed your talks together and soon you were holding his hand and bumping his shoulder. You weren't official yet but... you were both getting there. Something he was excited for.

When you invited him to cast the illusions while you read for the kids he got really excited. No one ever trusted him with something that felt that important. He knew it wasn't a huge deal but to him it meant everything. While you read he cast the most realistic (but kid friendly) illusions he could and really put effort into his magic so he could impress you. The kids were awestruck as he turned your words into a reality, really focusing on your words and bringing them to life. And when the Prince saved the Princess and got to kiss them you smiled taking his hand in yours. It disrupted the illusion but as you brought your lips to his Edric understood and gently kissed back. Some kids made gagging noises but others cooed and as you pulled back you smiled before asking him on a real date. He of course said yes.

Once his parents find out about you and approve of your relationship as you're under a prestigious internship at the library and have very powerful magic he's relieved. You know he has family problems and do your best to be behaved around his parents so they have no reason to split you up. He tells you not to worry but it lingers in your mind regardless. Now that your official and approved of (not that he would've stopped dating you if they said no) he enjoys bringing you to fancy events with him. When you show up he always blushes and smiles at you telling you he can't believe he gets to call you his date. High society functions are not his favorite but with you and his sister at his side he has a lot more fun than he usually does. He really does adore you with his entire being.

His dates outside of family functions can be overly complex or just simple and sweet. He's a romantic at heart and wants you to feel loved in every sense of the word. As someone with money and a larger allowance than most he tends to spend it on you because he's not going to do anything with all these snails. Movies, stadiums being bought out, carnival tickets, concerts, trips, and special firework shows just for you are just some examples of the dates he plans.

He sometimes gets jealous of the relationship you have with his sisters because he wants you all to himself but he keeps that to himself. He knows you've known Amity way longer than him and that you're both close. He also acknowledges that Emira is naturally charismatic and he'd rather your friends than enemies. He also doesn't want you to think he's possessive as you are your own person but he does have tells. He becomes very clingy when he's jealous and his sisters love to tease him about this.

Edric loves to buy you gifts as it's one of his love languages. Flowers, chocolates, books, toys, trinkets, abomination stuff from his family's factory. If he knows you want it or are looking at it he will buy it for you. He tends to spoil you and will insist you don't need to give anything back, your affirmation and love being more than enough. That being said if you got him as many gifts as he got you either bought or hand made he'd be over the moon and it becomes a bit of a competition between you two to see who can spoil the other more.

You hang out with Emira just as much as Edric as they're very important to each other. She enjoys your presence and often teases her brother about how he snagged someone so amazing. She jokingly says you still have time to run and although Edric whines about it, it's all in good fun. You're often pulled into their pranks using your impressive acting and magic skills to help them pull bigger stunts off. You've gotten in trouble before but nothing you can't worm your way out of.

Ugh this is so annoying! Why does the teacher go on and on about this subject, and why does he talk so slow?! I don’t really know why I bother paying attention anyway, I mean I already know about this stuff because my mom made me study it last year, and it wasn’t even that interesting! Speaking of my mom, she’s been putting a lot of pressure on me lately. Ever since I became my own individual, colored my hair, started hanging out with the people I wanna hang out with, and most importantly: stopped being afraid of her, she’s been more controlling than ever! Mom expects me to put up with all these extra classes and discipline, but I won’t let her get to me. I just wish I could focus on something other than school once in a while… Or someone.

Moments later we all heard the pitter patter of footsteps running down the stairs, before Amity herself appeared in the doorway with a tomato face.

Me and Y/n went up to my room which I had personally prepared with a bunch of blankets, snacks and pillows. As we entered I could hear Y/n let out a small gasp before turning to me with that adorable smile.

“You did all this? Wow! You’re just the best, Amity! This is gonna be so much fun!”

She’s just the cutest sometimes.

Carefully, I wrapped my arm around her shoulder before looking down at her, but to my surprise she was already up looking at me with that expression.
