roxy and eridan heals the soul
I just think it would be really funny if eridan got added back into the fold, nobody is particularly enthused about him being there (including karkat, whom he is paledating), having his emotional problems addressed does not actually make him less annoying (in fact, his insistence that magic is real and that he's a wizard of it kind of makes him MORE annoying), and then as soon as he steps off the meteor, he says some deranged shit and gets hit with the quadrant 2x combo for it
ERIDAN: [batshit insane rant about magic, wands, being a wizard, murdering his enemies, murdering his friends(!?), blowing up stuff using the power of believing in himself]
ROXY AND CALLIOPE, SIMULTANEOUSLY: i think i hauve covid
also, does anyone remember this tidbit from roxy's wizard fanfic?

the guy paused to remove his glasses and polished them on his sash. it came off as a seriously dramatic gesture, just as intended and also as explicitly stated in the text.

Just in time for Mega Man's thirty-sixth anniversary, I've whipped up a wallpaper themed after Mega Man 3, sized at a comfy 1280x720— I think that this one may just be my most detail-oriented anniversary wallpaper yet... as well as my favorite, too! 💙✨

My first thought when i saw this: TFP Ben 10
Given how this 👇 is Ben's canonical car:
Tumblr media
You aren't too far off lmao (mostly on the colour at least).
You might not be particularly a fan of CNA from your sphere of headcanons, but considering that Ben can access another biomechanical species in the galvanic mechamorph, I'm sure there's enough of an Omnitrix work around to sample cybertronian data. Seeing as it's a Camaro you could probably have a TFP x Ben 10 crossover equivalent to TFA Waspinator maybe, a green Bumblebee (or a green hornet if you of/remember that) but it's Ben. Considering how the biomechanical Upgrade has a few biological translation issues to the point of not quite technically being a fully integrated transformation, maybe Ben would speak with his own voice like Upgrade does or maybe even through radio depending on how physically different cybertronians are to human anatomy.
I mean that specific line of thinking would only be possible if Ben snagged a sample of Bumblebee's CNA (or whatever you'd prefer) which could either be convoluted or unclimactic, though I guess if street racing in some part of the globe with a desert (aka somewhat nearby Bellwood which already exists cross universe between Ben 10 and Generator Rex) there could be some plot about his shenaniganery nearly running Team Ben off the road and messing with Kevin's own heavily modified yet fresh from 1979 Dodge Challenger to the irritation and anger of Kevin himself. Something something Bee got the attention of the wrong (mostly) humans(ish).
#ask#ben 10#transformers#tfp#maccadam#nukeli#i certainly rambled with this one- i can't recall if you know of ben 10 beyond just being a mutual dealing with my ben 10 posts#the mark 10 (the name for ben's car because it can't just be named ben's car or the doofus mobile)#came from the movie as a mazda rx-8 and was in the show modeled after the concept car acura dn-x#which a) both have x in them for roman numeral 10 and b) the acura is one letter away from dna lmao#anyway i'm a sucker for ben 10 crossovers- mostly the kind that introduces ben to more alien species#a plot like that may be too goofy for tfp wants to be even if it's ultra seriousness can lead to goofiness lmao#but hey given the historically present 'plot of the week' style of ben 10 in any series#it would be a fitting little minor story that ends up in a new transformation episode (or an unlock for later)#i only really put bumblebee on the spotlight here because ben 10 has a tendency to make transformations look like the sample#it's especially evident in the uaf artstyle but diamondhead and tetrax from os certainly don't differ much visually#if ben samples bee it's probably more like he samples his frametype and present alt mode#given his own alt he'd probably scan his own car lmao#and being a four wheeled grounder he can't sample any of the rustbuckets (the rvs AND the jet shaped space ship)#or his omniverse bike or the proto-truk#i think this post has a lot of rambling that reveals how much i like a transformers (in general) crossover with ben 10#i mean i'm already neck deep in cf8wrk4u-us' tfa x ben 10 crossover these thoughts aren't new#i guess you could say in a tfp setting this is before ua because of the whole fame thing#might be a little loud on alien activity if a large majority of sightings have been narrowed down to one shapeshifting person

you have to forgive me for posting mostly abt characters that are men (in canon) as a bisexual woman. i am obsessed w lots of #girl characters but like 80% of them are kids and teens or if theyre grown theyre comic relief. and my brain feeds off two things: tragedy and horniness. so posting about jevil and hob it is.

Also, I just thought of a possible Proto Freddy headcanon!
When he's fully fixed, some of his small details are mirrored from Glamrock Freddy's. Like, his red earring is on his right ear instead of his left, and his lighting bolt pattern is 'facing' the other side as well.
A very, very subtle difference, and very few people would be able to tell them apart!
This might or might not be a separate headcanon, but Proto Freddy could have an ever so slightly different color palette from Glamrock Freddy, but one would only be able to notice if both bears were basically side by side; if you compare their ingame models, Prototype Freddy's main body color seems to be just lightly more orange, and whatever's left of his blue accents seems to just barely inch a little closer to cyan than Glamrock Freddy's colors.
GOD ALL OF THIS. these are such fun concepts to work with bc haha...its like they're twins...twins who have crises over one another's existence ksfdjskd
if only they were Normal they could do fun twin shenanigans like pranking everyone to think it's one freddy when really, it's the other :') (tbf it's FREDDY, so he's not inclined to prank his friends, but still...)
on the whole i care this entire concept SO much. i also think it'd be really fun for like...the top hat color to be different too? maybe it's just me being self indulgent but haha...proto freddy with a top hat that has a red ribbon, toy freddy-style...

I just freaking realized that Pedosawa and RT literally just rehashed the characters that she designed once for the "Moeyo Ken" series (2005) for the HnY girls. Like it's almost the same characters. To put it simply the girls are actually aren't really "unique"...

Yes I know that the boy looks like Kohaku. Also I think Moroha does the "design" better.

Back to reading Blood of the Vampire!
I'm about a third of the way in so I can't say for certain what views/lessons the author may express by the end of it all, but there is a very fun passage where resident hater Miss Leyton starts saying some based wisdoms

After all the fascist and proto-fascist assaults on American democracy over the last few years, I feel obliged to remind y'all (especially the constant Debbie Downers who have been telling us This Doesn't Mean Anything and predicted Trump would get away with everything) that a jury of 12 ordinary citizens having the power to criminally convict a former (and aspiring future) head of state is still a fucking big deal.

Incomplete list of stuff that made me go apeshit reading Fellowship for the first time, medievalist edition (part II)
Part I here. Disclaimer: this is for fun!
Love that people keep stressing that they are going to the ELVES for COUNCIL. Old English names, especially among the rulers of Wessex, Northumbria, Mercia, etc, were often Elf Theme Names, one of the most famous and enduring of which is Alfred. Written the old way, Ælfræd or Ælfred (as in Alfred the Great), means Elf-Council, aka "counseled by elves". In their hearts... everyone wants to be Alfred... possibly this is only funny 2 me.
Tom Bombadil doing a training montage in the fucking magic system of Middle Earth?? He teaches Frodo to recite a poem that will summon him, Tom Bombadil, in times of need! Frodo gets kidnapped by undead wights in a barrow (like many a good young person in an Old Norse saga before him) and dutifully recites this magic poem. Frodo learned Recite Magic Poem! TOM BOMBADIL SMASHES THRU THE WALL OF THE BARROW LIKE THE KOOL-ADE MAN AND RECITES A BIGGER, STRONGER POEM??
At this point I gave up on trying to be normal about anything. As such, I'm pausing on Tom Bombadil again.
It helped (?? not psychologically) that Tom Bombadil recited something that felt a bit familiar, when he banished the wights. It's not anything like a direct translation, if indeed it bears any purposeful resemblance to the actual recorded medieval galdor called Against a Wen. Regardless, Against a Wen is an okay?? example of what a spoken word magic poem would look like, and why it's similar to what Tom Bombadil (and later Gandalf and others) do. Left screenshot is Bombadil against a barrow-wight. Right is Against a Wen, in English translation. (a wen was possibly a skin ailment, like a mole or a cancer). Banishing to/beyond the hills and shrivelling are the apparent themes. You don't have to follow me on this one, much less agree. Frankly this is the point I went off the deep end, probably.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Galdor can also protect! This just happens to be a banishment.
Gollum got exiled (the worst thing the early medieval and apparently proto-hobbit law could do to you) but not even for murder. No one found out about the murder. He just sucked.
ALSO Gollum lied and said that his matriarch (who exiled him) gave him the Ring. This implies it was plausible she'd give out rings, implying female ring-giver (standard role of a king). This is mentioned once and never again. ok!!
One last fun fact about galdor: it is the word at the end of "nightingale" isn't that lovely? Luthien's name in-universe means nightingale. This is fine!
I spent a lot of time researching Aragorn's favorite rock. I love these books. If I recall correctly it's a real rock! but possibly. just a cool rock.

Despite Sparta’s reputation for superior fighting, Spartan armies were as likely to lose battles as to win them, especially against peer opponents such as other Greek city-states. Sparta defeated Athens in the Peloponnesian War—but only by accepting Persian money to do it, reopening the door to Persian influence in the Aegean, which Greek victories at Plataea and Salamis nearly a century early had closed. Famous Spartan victories at Plataea and Mantinea were matched by consequential defeats at Pylos, Arginusae, and ultimately Leuctra. That last defeat at Leuctra, delivered by Thebes a mere 33 years after Sparta’s triumph over Athens, broke the back of Spartan power permanently, reducing Sparta to the status of a second-class power from which it never recovered. Sparta was one of the largest Greek city-states in the classical period, yet it struggled to achieve meaningful political objectives; the result of Spartan arms abroad was mostly failure. Sparta was particularly poor at logistics; while Athens could maintain armies across the Eastern Mediterranean, Sparta repeatedly struggled to keep an army in the field even within Greece. Indeed, Sparta spent the entirety of the initial phase of the Peloponnesian War, the Archidamian War (431-421 B.C.), failing to solve the basic logistical problem of operating long term in Attica, less than 150 miles overland from Sparta and just a few days on foot from the nearest friendly major port and market, Corinth. The Spartans were at best tactically and strategically uncreative. Tactically, Sparta employed the phalanx, a close-order shield and spear formation. But while elements of the hoplite phalanx are often presented in popular culture as uniquely Spartan, the formation and its equipment were common among the Greeks from at least the early fifth century, if not earlier. And beyond the phalanx, the Spartans were not innovators, slow to experiment with new tactics, combined arms, and naval operations. Instead, Spartan leaders consistently tried to solve their military problems with pitched hoplite battles. Spartan efforts to compel friendship by hoplite battle were particularly unsuccessful, as with the failed Spartan efforts to compel Corinth to rejoin the Spartan-led Peloponnesian League by force during the Corinthian War. Sparta’s military mediocrity seems inexplicable given the city-state’s popular reputation as a highly militarized society, but modern scholarship has shown that this, too, is mostly a mirage. The agoge, Sparta’s rearing system for citizen boys, frequently represented in popular culture as akin to an intense military bootcamp, in fact included no arms training or military drills and was primarily designed to instill obedience and conformity rather than skill at arms or tactics. In order to instill that obedience, the older boys were encouraged to police the younger boys with violence, with the result that even in adulthood Spartan citizens were liable to settle disputes with their fists, a tendency that predictably made them poor diplomats. But while Sparta’s military performance was merely mediocre, no better or worse than its Greek neighbors, Spartan politics makes it an exceptionally bad example for citizens or soldiers in a modern free society. Modern scholars continue to debate the degree to which ancient Sparta exercised a unique tyranny of the state over the lives of individual Spartan citizens. However, the Spartan citizenry represented only a tiny minority of people in Sparta, likely never more than 15 percent, including women of citizen status (who could not vote or hold office). Instead, the vast majority of people in Sparta, between 65 and 85 percent, were enslaved helots. (The remainder of the population was confined to Sparta’s bewildering array of noncitizen underclasses.) The figure is staggering, far higher than any other ancient Mediterranean state or, for instance, the antebellum American South, rightly termed a slave society with a third of its people enslaved.
