I’m not saying that some songs aren’t about those specific people, I’m just saying they’re only PART OF the theme, I believe her father (and other big heads in the industry) had a big influence on her career and forced her to stay in the closet from the very beginning, that messed her up, she had to hide her true self and keep bearding, and in 2019 she planned to come out but didn’t because of the masters heist, now it’s because she’s gotten more famous than ever that she has too much to lose. So maybe these men he dated, she did like them and she had multiple feelings when these relationships ended, but it’s all part of who the industry had made her into; she had one true love (maybe Karlie) but she couldn’t be with that person that’s why some songs are about a true deep love lost, but that’s still part of the “her career” theme, because of her career, she can’t be with that person. What’s really interesting in this theme is that she’s calling out her father in multiple songs because he really made her life harder…

In Cassandra, (the obvious theory is that Cassandra representing gaylors bc we’ve been saying the truth but never believed. And the first verse is about her getting the news of her masters heist just before her coming out plan, and then “stone’s thrown” is referencing Stonewall.) And in the bridge “They knew the whole time that I was onto something. The family, the pure greed, the Christian chorus line. They all said nothing. Blood's thick but nothing like a payroll. Bet they never spared a prayer for my soul” she’s saying her family knew something but said nothing because greed and money, we saw the leaked emails of her father and how he cares more about making money out of Taylor’s career than caring about her as his daughter, so I think this bridge is about her father, also about religious trauma may or may not due to him.

In The Bolter, “A curious child, ever reviled by everyone except her own father. With a quite bewitching face, splendidly selfish, charmingly helpless, excellent fun 'til you get to know her, then she runs like it's a race” she’s talking about herself being a precocious uniquely intelligent ambitious child, which everyone reviled except her father. why? because he wanted to invest money on her, he controlled how she conducted her career from the beginning.

What’s crazier is that Robin may be about her father too. That song sounds like a sweet song but she’s faking it like “all this showmanship to keep it for you in sweetness”. If she’s referring to her father (only wanting to make money out of her career) in this song then “you’re an animal, you are bloodthirsty” makes so much more sense. And the “buried down deep and out of your reach, the secret we all vowed to keep it from you in sweetness” her father probably knows about her queerness but wants her and everyone to keep it quiet.

In But Daddy I Love Him, “people only raise you to cage you” is pretty obvious about her father forcing her to stay in the closet, and “people try and save you cause they hate you” is literally about homophobes. “Dutiful daughter, all my plans were laid” is about her father laying all the plans for her, which isn’t always what she wants. “I'd rather burn my whole life down, than listen to one more second of all this bitching and moaning. I'll tell you something about my good name, it's mine alone to disgrace” reminds me of that scene in Miss Americana where her father was lecturing why she couldn’t public her opinions. “Thinking it can change the beat of my heart when he touches me. And counteract the chemistry, and undo the destiny” is so queer coded. “Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see / You ain't gotta pray for me” another reference to religious trauma.

So all of this, about her father, about her lover and other men, it’s all connected to her career and she’s looking back at it, thinking and reflecting on it, that’s it that’s the blog

Anyways not too sure what I want to call this AU but I've kinda settled on "The Blocks".

I don’t want to say much about them because I want to write fanfic about this and I don’t want to spoil it so sorry if this sounds barebones or is confusing :(

Some quick before things: This AU is in a world where all of humanity has been forced into a highly structured society. Basically everyone was kidnapped and forced into cryosleep except for people part of this secret organization who’ve begun to create this super structured world

Cities are just numbered and under each city are the “Blocks”, 4 per city, 1 a daycare, the other three for people 18+. Blocks all have 100 members (people who have been awoken from cryosleep) and have a strict ruleset, if a member breaks a rule, they’re killed. The last remaining member is allowed to leave and live in the “new world”. Daycares don’t do that (kill members (kids)) they just teach them to follow the new rules. They also get their education there so once they’ve graduated they’re allowed to leave.

(⚾Scout) Jeremy, Block Master Assistant (Block 3)

He’s the main character or something. His one goal is to be a Block Master because his dad works as the admin for the blocks and would always come home talking about it and he just thought it was the coolest thing.

(🇺🇸Soldier) Block Master Doe (Block 2)

Think the most like patriotic, pro-american (but not for america), drill sergeant- so he’s basically the same person. For every AU I make where Soldier is included he’s always the same person because I just love him so much.

(🔥Pyro) Moe/Puff, Block Daycare Attendant (Block 1)

They’re mute :3 They help Heavy in the daycare and their pyromaniac thing isn’t there, they’re just insane. They see the whole world as Pyroland but not everything has to be on fire for it, they’re just like that. Also Moe is their name but Puff is what they let all the kids call them because they're always wearing a puffy jacket

(💣Demo) Tavish, Block Master Assistant (Block 2)

He’s very laid back, he might genuinely let people get away with offenses as long as Doe didn’t see it, he’s mostly there to keep Doe in check and also because I’m a boots and bombs shipper and they’re gay :3

(🧸Heavy) Mikhail, Block Daycare Teacher (Block 1)

Leader of Block 1/the daycare. Block 1 leaders are really nice because they’re whole job is to just teach/watch over kids so he’s just genuinely wholesome :) He tries to get the other Block Masters (Ludwig & Doe) to be better but he’s given up on Doe and Ludwig might be too far gone

(🔧Engie) Dell, Block Maintenance Overseer

There are teams of people who maintain the blocks (he’s one of them), He works with the Admin and Block Masters to keep Blocks up to date. Currently he’s a bit busy because Block 4 had some accident that no one is allowed to know about and it’s not working but everything is totally fine guys 👍

okay, super curious ! i loved reading your new fic ! outsider pov my beloved ❤️❤️ now i ask, what made you choose this language and not another ? what other languages did you consider ?

It was tricky, I’m not going to lie! I needed a language that not a lot of them would be able to speak, but was still something someone could recognize parts of.

Tim gets the closest by saying it sounded a little like Mandarin — he was the one I pegged for being the most fluent Cantonese and Mandarin speaker of the group, because they’re tricky for English speakers to master and he’s obsessive like that.

I also needed something tonal enough that it could conceivably be mistaken for another tonal language by a non speaker, like Dick does. I initially wanted it to be Slavic so Dick was forced to call Jason (I hc him as the resident Russian/Slavic languages guy) but that didn’t quite work out.

I did some minor googling, and dialects like Wenzhounese are tricky because they’re regional AND they divert and split off of the main language families, which means even if you speak a nearby language you’re not 100% certain what’s being said.

But I also needed something that conceivably Bruce would have encountered at some point, whether through his training or studies. And I back tracked Wenzhounese as something being spoken in many US immigrant communities such as New York, which would make it plausible for him to also encounter in Gotham at some point.

I’m not a linguist so a lot of this was me guessing in the dark. I was trying to do some research on the canon languages the Batfamily all know, but the source material seems to disagree on who knows what.

Except for Bruce. He tends to know the most languages out of everyone, which is why I wrote him as a polyglot in this fic.

I’m really into scars right now, especially visible ones. Like facial, neck, hands, etc. Constant reminders of the trauma and torture the Whumpee had to face, not just to themself but to everyone else. Especially if this Whumpee is in some leadership position, like in a team situation, and everyone else is just constantly wary around them. The Whumpee has learned to avoid long conversations or any non essential contact, isolating and only making the dynamics worse.

That or a Whumpee who is in some sort of situation with a caretaker that’s unable to really help them, particularly if they’re from the other side. Like a Hero Whumpee in a villain’s lair, and a henchman wants to help but they can’t actually do much of anything.

Also I love your typical power imbalance tropes, a Whumpee who used to be powerful/influential reduced to nothing (particularly with royalty dynamics paired with public humiliation), your good old fashioned whipping and torture, branding, there’s so many lmao

To write? Now that’s harder. While I love all of these tropes, some of them are just difficult for me to write in terms of complex dynamics or just plot. If I were to start one with say, the royal/powerful Whumpee, I would need to go so much deeper than just “they used to be royal”, and I’d get caught up on that for so long I wouldn’t end up writing it. So I guess I’ll just say power imbalances in any context really, because that’s always so much fun to exploit (as you can see with Noah and Declan, Kaden and Mathias, etc lmao)

The Six writers have admitted they did very little research when it came to Anne.

Oh I know, they watched one Lucy Worsley documentary or something, like … 🤦🏻‍♀️ I mean, even before I knew as much about Anne as I do now, when I was growing up I had more info about her at 11 than they do now! It’s not hard to find out this shit - you open a book! They did comparatively well with the other five - really delved into K Parr with the writing books and education etc. it’s like it was on purpose they didn’t look closer at Anne simply because she’s Anne Boleyn. The “politics - not my thing” line really got my back up.
