Heyyyy! What would it be like if reader is pregnant with Mithrun's child, post story mithrun?
Tw pregnancy / children lol /
˚. ✦.˳·˖✶ ⋆.✧̣̇˚.
Tumblr media
Whether the pregnancy is planned or not really depends on you and your relationship.
If you want a child on purpose, it would take some time and patience and convincing to get Mithrun on board. Pre-dungeon he was far too busy doing hot girl stuff to think about starting a family. Post-dungeon he was far too busy trying to stay alive and getting revenge to think about anything else. Post-canon, give him some time. He needs to figure out how to live. Once he’s settled for a bit, he’ll hear you out.
If you’re a tall-man or some other short lived race, then he’s even more opposed. Not because you’re not good enough to have a baby with, or that he’s afraid of what society will think, but because how they age is so different. It’s a huge challenge. And halflings have difficult lives. It feels a bit cruel. He wouldn’t usually care whether or not he’s cruel, but this is different. This is one of his new purposes in life and he refuses to mess it up.
However, in the end a child is still a product of love. You just discuss the ethics a lot. Even if you’re a long-lived race, he still takes into consideration the world and your families and how you’re living.
If the baby is unplanned… You break the news to him and he just disappears for a few hours. He was walking through the woods in silence. He made eye contact with a deer that had a fawn. It was a very spiritual moment.
He returns ready to take on this challenge, exhibiting 2% more enthusiasm and motivation than he does most things.
Mithrun is already quite protective, but it gets more intense once you’re pregnant. He watches you like a hawk. It’s actually kind of annoying and you have to tell him to chill out (he does not, but he will stop hovering so you don’t get stressed out)
As you get further along, he accompanies you when you leave the house. He prefers to be near in case anything happens, despite how safe Melini is in general. However, if you’re far along then you probably don’t want to be walking around anyway.
Already, Mithrun is willing to do anything for his partner— as long as it doesn’t get in the way of his or your shared goals. He’s partly willing to do anything because that’s just the nature of his lack of desires. Yet, one of his new desires is to please you, so his willingness is also just for his own enjoyment. (I might develop this idea further sometime, the ensuing issues from complete willingness would be interesting to explore.)
So, it’s two in the morning and you want a very specific snack? Mithrun is already very nonchalantly pulling on his boots and leaving to get it, without you even having to ask. You stop him though because he’s about to go knock on a merchant’s door so they’ll open just for him. But if something is open, he’ll get it. If it’s possible for him to make it himself, he’ll make it.
On his journeys to retrieve your snacks, though, he gets lost. Many times Melini guard or a friend has shown up at your door with Mithrun in tow like ‘is this yours?’
Mithrun doesn’t hide his emotions, per se, he just doesn’t connect with them enough to display them most of the time. So his anticipation for the baby doesn’t show much. It’s through his actions that you realize how he’s feeling. He touches your belly a lot, waiting for the baby to kick (he is very determined and very focused on the matter) and of course, as I said, he’s determined to give you whatever you need. Sometimes, when he’s kneeling in front of you, touching your belly, he furrows his brows a little in this small expression. It’s as if he’s confused as to why he loves this little baby so much already, when he hasn’t even met them. Parenthood is a very unfamiliar concept to him and he has trouble connecting with the idea, despite his decision to do well.
He contemplates his own childhood a bit during this time, something he wouldn’t usually bother doing. He approaches the matter objectively, not feeling much of anything about how he grew up. He doesn’t really psychoanalyze himself. But he does make the decision to raise his child a bit differently than how he was raised.
He becomes a little clingy at this time. Even before the pregnancy, he always found some way to be touching you, but it becomes more pronounced. He’ll have his hand on your stomach a lot, or pull you into his lap and bury his face in your hair.
Mithrun is very prepared when you’re on outings together. You meet up with the Canaries for dinner or something and you need… Idk what pregnant people need. Napkins? Nausea medicine? Water, obviously, and good shoes. He has snacks too. He nonchalantly reaches into this overstuffed bag and pulls out what you need and the Canaries are like oooooooooo
Fleki asks if they should call him Daddy now. Mithrun doesn’t bother protesting because he knows they’ll do that no matter what he says.
You and Mithrun are mamá y papá. Fleki and Lycion say they’re your free trial children. Modern au they beg to go to Mcdonalds and you’re like ‘ask your father’ so Mithrun pulls into the Mcdonalds drive through to shut them up. They cheer. He orders a single black coffee and drives away.
If you get nausea early on in the pregnancy, he doesn’t really know what to do. He’ll hold back your hair if you need it.
He does some research on what you can and can’t do while pregnant and becomes a know-it-all.
Mithrun gives girl-dad energy, but he wouldn’t care what gender the baby is in the end.
He doesn’t really know how to physically handle you. He’s never hurt you or been rough before (unless you wanted that) but he becomes way more gentle.
If you headcanon that his parents are still alive, I feel like he wouldn’t really care whether they know about the baby or not. They’d probably find out through his brother.
In fact, he doesn’t tell anyone the news. You and Mithrun visit his brother randomly and there you are, pregnant, months along, and his brother is like …Mithrun? Is your wife.. Pregnant? He just glances at you, then back to him, completely unfazed. Yeah. She is.
Or his brother visits after the baby is born. He knocks on the door and Mithrun answers with the baby in a little carrier hanging from his chest. He doesn’t even acknowledge it or the fact that his brother had no idea, not unless his brother acknowledges it first. Mithrun’s just casually giving the baby a bottle or toys and his brother is waiting for him to explain why he thought it was a good idea to not inform his family that he was expecting?!
There was no pregnancy announcement. You were just with child one day and the world had no choice but to accept that.
Modern au, he might have a very simple banner that says ‘it is a baby’ with a few sad, half-blown up balloons taped to the wall. You’re both just awkwardly standing beside it, staring into the camera. He texts this to his family or the Canaries with no caption then proceeds to ignore the ensuing panicked phone calls.
He does not care what you name them as long as it’s not stupid.
Until a name is decided, you both just call them a placeholder name. (“How’s The Bean doing today?” “They’re kicking more than usual.”)
After they’re born, Bean sticks and turns into an affectionate nickname!
Mithrun walks around with the baby strapped to his chest. If you have twins and someone comments on the baby strapped to him, he just turns around and there’s another baby on his back. Yeah he open carries brandishes his son or daughter
Since he’s awake most of the time, I think he’d take over night duty a lot. He might fall asleep with the baby cuddled up in his arms or against his chest.
He has to be taught how to change a diaper, but he learns quickly and becomes quite fast and proficient at it.
He does not care if he’s covered in baby drool. He doesn’t get icked out easily.
He’ll be feeding the baby, and if he needs his hands for something else he’ll just casually stick the spoon in his mouth to free up his hands. Some baby food tastes so bad but he can’t really taste it anyway.
He can be found holding the baby often, with them usually leaning over his shoulder, held up by one of his hands (when they’re old enough to lift themselves a bit, of course.)
He is very careful with them as a newborn.
He’s also very prepared at this point as well. He will be the one carrying the huge diaper bag most of the time.
When they’re born, his first question for you is ‘are you okay?’ (You’re not, you just gave birth, idiot) but once that’s out of the way, his second question is ‘why does our baby look like a lumpy potato?’ as newborns frequently do.
In all, it’s a complicated subject for him. But he eases into the idea and the life, and he tries his best. He’s not the most emotionally present father, he’s imperfect as we all are, but he thinks things through and tries to make decisions that will benefit the growth of the child. He’s willing to make sacrifices. But he still gets very lost when going out to grab milk and your child is like ‘is daddy ever coming home?’ and you’re like sigh. Come on let's go find your father.

thinking about... yandere!batfam...
Imagine you're living your normal life and *boom*, one day suddenly a portal opens right in front of you, you fall through it, it closes right behind you. You can only make out a few vague shapes making their way towards you before you pass out.
When you wake up you're... in a bed. Surrounded by a bunch of people who introduce themselves as the Wayne family. You're in Gotham. There was some kind of portal accident with a villain and you fell here from a different dimension and you're stuck until they can figure out how to fix the portal machine, because it was broken during the fight.
Villain? Portals? Gotham? And what was this family doing there during a fight?? They explain that they're vigilantes, Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, etc etc. They decided to tell you this because you'll have to work with them to figure out your home dimension and they didn't trust anyone else to take you in, plus this is just more efficient [and more comfortable than living in the batcave]. I haven't decided yet if you're from a dimension where they exist in comics or don't exist at all, but either way, you're really confused bc this is just not something that happens in your universe.
Anyways. You live with them now, get closer to all of them, work with them sometimes (even though you can't do much, mostly you just watch them work but they insist it's important you're there), decorate your temporary room in the manor a bit, learn some stuff about this dimension (some people have superpowers?? cool!!). You can't go outside though, they say that would be dangerous, as you're not from this dimension and not supposed to be here at all. You want to go back home, but the repairing of the portal machine seems to be very complicated, everyone keeps telling you they just can't figure it out...
One day, during a rare (very rare) moment alone, you decide to look around the manor. You still haven't seen everything in here, it's so big! After some exploration, you stumble across an interesting room that's kind of hidden away. It looks almost exactly like your new room in the manor, but dusty, with some items you remember the Batfamily proudly showing you as you were decorating your room, and becoming unreasonably disappointed when you didn't like them. But the most concerning thing is that there are pictures of you. Not new ones they took since you've been here, but older ones, where you're younger. But, no, it doesn't seem like they're pictures of you exactly, there are photos of a pre-teen you on Bruce's shoulders, that can't be you, you just met them! There are also pictures of a vigilante you've never seen before, which you figure must be this other-you as well. What happened to them? And why would everyone hide this from you?
Turns out you didn't come here from an accident with a villain at all. The Batfamily lost the other version of you somehow and decided they wanted you back. But not a strong, smart vigilante like the version of you from this universe. No, they could get hurt again, or figure out what's going on sooner and escape. They chose you, hoping they could slowly get you accustomed to the idea of staying and then one day lie to you and say they can't fix the portal machine, they can't send you back. It still hurts them to know you're not exactly like the you they lost, you were raised in a completely different way, of course you're not the same, but they'd never let you go, either. They love you.
They were hoping you wouldn't find everything out so soon... but, well, they can fight over whose fault it is that you were able to find this room later, first they need to find a way to calm you down and stop you from leaving them.
If you find yourself drugged and/or tied to your bed, don't be mad at them! You gave them no time to explain before you started panicking and trying to get away, they couldn't just let that happen!

I've been thinking a lot about gender identity and stuff lately, but to my shame I’m not the most educated person when it comes to lgbt related stuff. Every time I try to search it to learn more I end up freaking out and clearing my browsing history because of the feeling of being watched. I know I’m being unreasonable, but it’s stronger than me. I don’t have anyone to ask about this kind of stuff. Everyone around me is negative about lgbt, I grew up among this negativity. I’m afraid to ask my online friends because I don’t want to seem ignorant or stupid. What have I decided to do? Send an anonymous ask to a stranger about my concerns (sorry about that), whose blog helped me to accept the fact that I might not be who I though I was at the first place. It feels more safe. Back to the point.
As a teen I used she/they pronouns and a different gender-neutral name online for years. I still do it as an adult and now I realise that “she” was more like a compromise for me because it was what I used to be referred as for my whole life, but didn’t feel quite comfortable with. So it’s they/them for me, I guess. Okay. I’ve always preferred to not be related to any gender, but now I see that there’s more to it. I might be a nonbinary, but what if I’m actually an agender? I also consider the possibility of being a genderfluid because one moment I wear a dress and think that it looks good, and the other moment I cry in front of a mirror because of the idea of wearing it. So yeah, it depends on my mood. I don’t know how it works. I’m just so confused. The only thing I know that I’m not comfortable with being referred to as a female anymore. I’ve never really been.
Admittedly, as someone who is binary trans, I do not have a lot of knowledge in this area. I do know what it’s like to not know what you’re “supposed to be” though. And I know it can be frustrating and scary to be lost in trying to figure out your own identity.
I asked some of my friends, who are nonbinary and genderfluid themselves, and the first thing we all have to say is you should allow yourself more kindness. I am sorry that you grew up around so much negativity. But I want you to know that it’s both okay to feel afraid but also okay to not know everything. If a friend is going to treat you badly for asking questions, they’re not a very good friend.
One of my friends says the part you said about “making compromises” resonated a lot with them a lot, so you aren’t alone there. As for how you feel in a dress, clothes do not equal gender. You can like how you look in a dress without any of it having to do with girl-ishness. I suggest you try to think about why you like it when you do, and why you don’t when you don’t. My friends also suggested trying other clothes you can express yourself with. Think about why you like them, or why you don’t like them. (Of course, sometimes the answer has nothing to do with gender. I like athletic clothing because they make me look sporty, which is a neutral thing. But it’s good to know what parts aren’t related to gender at all too.) That extends beyond clothes too, any part of your presentation that you think you can play with without getting yourself into danger, you should.
It’s tempting to feel like you have to scramble to figure out a label. Especially when advice and other people you can talk to can feel sort of “grouped” under them. And there’s a lot of knowledge to be gained that way for sure. But there’s a lot of knowledge to be gained just in figuring out what you do and don’t like. What makes you feel bad, what makes you feel at ease, what makes you super excited. You‘ve got it nailed down that you don’t like being called a female, that’s not a bad start!
If your friends are people you think are good and kind, I would suggest reaching out to them so that you can explore things a little more with them, considering they know you better than I would. I know it's scary, but there's nothing wrong with not knowing things, and I hope they'd be aware of that too. And even if you call yourself something now and explore more into it, there's no harm if in the future it doesn't fit so good. There's no wrong way to be a gender, and more importantly there's no wrong way to be you.

oc stuff. alr so this particular universe has four sentient species of people and so far ive only designed characters in One of them. that being the mammalians (basically just furries) but now im trying to shake off my lack of ideas by taking the age old "Just Get Started" advice. with a random mash of ideas. to see what will stick
this particular species of people ive been referring to as "plantfolk" and i think that name is self explanatory. since this is basically my jsab askblog story rewritten for the umpteenth time but with the serial numbers filed off you can guess what their one and only inspiration is (its the wiggly cactus guys. so yes my oc-ified interpretation of lycan would be part of this but shes Not in this post sorry)
designed one character in particular named primrose, who wasnt based on anything jsab related. shes ophelias love interest, but she's also a particular plantfolk? she felt alienated by her people's cultural norms that enforced the idea that she must become a caretaker like everyone else, so she decided to head out on her own and make her own way in the world. she found herself more interested by history and exploring the lands she calls home for herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
since she dedicates herself to the worship of time (which is the concept ophelia hails from!) her clothes are different than what most plantfolk might be seen wearing. the cloak is standard though! since percival is raised by plantfolk, i figured the cloak that i gave him should be something common in their culture
Tumblr media
since i needed to get an idea for what "standard" plantfolk might look like i decided to dig up some old jsab ocs that would end up as plantfolk. ended up redesigning my blossoms that i got from @/bountiful-blossoms when i was 13, i only got around to just 3 of them but here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes the top word is their old names LOL dont ask why one was named space + 1.
i mentioned that i wanted to add more plant-like elements on places other than their heads and my buddy snick suggested that i add root tails... i like em so far. as you can see, these 3 are kids, so their manner of dress is a little closer to how percy is dressed. for some reason as i was redesigning space + 1s hat i thought "maybe she's learning to be more of a hunter actually" so i decided not to add tassels to her cloak since those could easily get caught on shit.
im pretty happy with how theyre turning out. BUT!! the cloaks im pretty unhappy with right now. i dont want them to be too detailed, but i dont want them to be blank, either. im never really sure what to do when it comes to adding patterns and im kinda lost here, so if they look weird, thats why 🤷 they aren't inspired by anything either so i feel like they look uninspired and directionless lol.
anyways this all goes without actually talking about some of the ideas that all this depends on so im very aware of how confusing this might read as since i dont usually talk about my ocs in public and im very private about what i DO talk about in private. For some reason. I should stop that.... maybe its time to break out my old oc blog

Why Does The Owl House Feel Like Fanfiction?
So there’s a lot that could be used for this but a lot of it can also go back and forth on simply being bad writing. To genuinely feel like fanfiction, you have to make it clear that as an original writer, you’re still leaning on the biggest joy and sin of fanfiction.
You need to show that you still don’t want to do the setup work for your story. You just want the payoffs.
That is the big strength of fanfiction after all. You don’t need to make the characters, introduce the world, etc. like that. You can just get to the juicy stuff without bogging yourself down. Even AUs often don’t have to actually make new designs or establish what a character’s personality is unless it’s directly opposing the source material because the audience will assume they’re the same otherwise. If you doubt me on that, I will start linking you all the comments I’ve gotten of people having to remind themselves that Odalia isn’t pure evil in my own fanfics.
But that also presents a danger when going to original fiction. After all, if you don’t setup the world, characters, etc. like that and just do big payoffs, they’re going to feel increasingly more shallow as they make less and less sense or don’t feel like they’re happening when they should. The seams of your writing will show if you don’t put that effort in.
A perfect example of this is one of the most celebrated things in the show: The Enemies to Lovers arc. To really highlight this, let’s break it down to what it would look like in fanfiction, what it would look like commonly in original fiction and then how TOH did it.
Fanfiction: The enemy relationship is already made. You don’t have to do that unless you’re changing a LOT. So all you need to do is the inciting incident that makes the two see each other in a new light and the romance can spark from there, possibly without even becoming friends because the writer just wants to see the two kiss and that’s fine. I’ve done plenty of Luscha stuff like this.
Original Fiction: HAHAHAHA! Oh god, fuck this trope in original fiction. It takes SO. FUCKING. LONG. I’m not even just talking about my own stuff. Catradora took THREE SEASONS for a reason. My own works took literally dozens of chapters to even get the characters on SPEAKING terms, let alone as friends and even then, needing to figure out what just friendship looked like to them.
This is because Enemies to Lovers DEMANDS a character arc on multiple sides. It’s a very big change from the introductory dynamic... But you also have to explore that first dynamic. You need to set up that they’re genuine enemies, explore it and sell it to the audience. Then you need to start whittling away at the base of the problem between the two, start showing their other sides like you would a villain redemption arc, and THEN you can start moving towards romance after they’ve stopped trying to fight each other or oppose each other, etc. like that. It cannot be understated that this trope is so powerful because it requires just a fuck ton of effort and patience on the writer’s part and while you can make cheats for it, like I did in Eyes Beneath the Water by making two people ex-friends but neither wanted the friendship to end, you cannot half ass it.
The Owl House: Amity is, at best, an enemy of Luz’s for three episodes. Teenage Abomination, Covention and TECHNICALLY Hooty’s Moving Hassle, even if her social media post feels awkward post Covention because... Why she is still antagonizing Luz? It makes Lost in Language somewhat confusing because she sounds like she was just trying to dismiss Luz. Like, she couldn’t get her quite out of her head but she was ready to leave her alone.
But also... Lost in Language is Amity’s next episode. By the end of it, they’re friends. By the end of Adventure in the Elements, they’re DEFINITELY friends. Period. And by the sixth episode Amity has a major role, fifth if you don’t include Hooty’s Moving Hassle, she’s blushing at holding Luz’s hand because that’s Understanding Willow which leads directly into Grom where she wants to ask Luz out.
That is no time, especially since Adventure in the Elements has Luz and Amity in it but it’s not really about the two of them. It’s kind of an all over the place episode frankly where Amity is in it but could have been swapped with anyone else. In fact, it would have made Luz look less awful for stealing from a friend. But they are enemies, strictly enemies, for three episodes at most. They are friends for three episodes at most and for most those, they aren’t exploring their friendship or their relationship in general. The only time Amity’s enemy phase will be referenced will be once by King and Amity doesn’t even react to it. It’s literally everyone else except Luz and Amity who are talking about as a joke.
It’s them lampshading the fact that they, you know... Didn’t actually do the trope. That they speedran Lumity because they like the Enemies to Lovers trope, wanted the payoffs of smiling, blushing Amity and the two getting together like you get with that trope but didn’t put in the work. They minimally setup up Amity before ripping her character apart so as to do what they wanted. They never explored the different phases of the two together, barely really made any sort of real dynamic between them at any point before they’re just the love interest and hero because... That’s what they were actually interested in.
And this is isn’t just with Amity. The Boiling Isles has all of its world building repeatedly kicked in the dick for the sake of whatever the writers want to do. The magic is abused and contradicted all the time because actually working with it would get in the way of what the writer wanted to do. Eda’s criminal background and Hooty’s strength would have made them not able to send King and Luz off to show a big payoff to Momma Eda. Actually having to show the Owl Family get close to each other would have taken too much effort so immediately after the body swap episode, the first time they ever even try to understand each other, they’re already now best friends and King is acting like he already views Luz as his big sister come Really Small Problems, their second major episode together.
And that is fanficky. It setup such a bare bones world and the like just so it could do what it wanted. It tore apart characters and rushed arcs even back in S1 because those elements would have gotten in the way of actually doing the tropes they wanted. They wanted to just get to the good stuff which is probably why most characters, after their trope hits their highlight, become really boring and one note. The writers don’t care anymore because they no longer have a big moment to work towards.
Why do you think so many fanfics are so short? And... That is the really painful part for someone like me. TOH truly was blessed by the shortening because while this whole blog is about how TOH fucked up in its FIRST season as far as Lumity’s base trope goes, they will still tell me to just blame the shortening. To blame Disney meddling with the show. It’s not fanficky because writers are bad or the writing is bad, it’s fanficky because of things that let you just ignore the rest.
And that makes my stomach churn and my eyes water, both as an analyst, and as a writer who keeps getting scared about new ideas because to do them right, means doing them long and I don’t know if my brain will manage to see it to the end so I can get that payoff.
But I’m not willing to just cheat like TOH did, not with my original stuff, even though TOH’s cheats also made it the most popular of Disney’s recent animated shows. Maybe that just makes me a fucking idiot then.

all my simon AUs [half are shower thoughts]
vampire simon multiverse world AU
• pretty self-explanatory!! simon is a vampire. it played out pretty similarly as our simon at first; he got the crown, betty left, mushroom bomb went off, and he met marceline.
• that's where things change. simon had to wear the crown to protect marcy, again. marcy panicked when simon wouldn't take it off and bit him without malicious intent, instead turning him into a vampire.
• since this technically killed simon, he broke out of the crown's grasp, now undead. marceline thought she killed him, panicked, and ran away. simon lived on his own ever since for like 1,000 years and kind of lost it being alone!!
HMS simon au
• this one is kind of like a crossover ?? with another one of my favorite things. it's based off chonny jash's characters, heart, mind, and soul. the whole plot of CCCC [chonny's charming chaos compendium] is that this guy's consciousness split into three [heart mind and soul], and they needed to reconcile.
• so . this goes basically the exact same as our simon. our simon, now like 1,059 [or however old he is], is in his little exhibit [same as the start of fionna and cake!!] he's chilling but keeps getting pressed closer to the edge each day.
• the main difference is that simon never actually ends up trying to make a portal to golbetty, and reaches his limit after like a series of unfortunate events.
• simon splits off into his own HMS. that's . essentially it . i dont wanna spoil much....
winter king worldswap AU
• i don't have it all planned out on how exactly it happened, but basically, winter king ends up in our ooo [aka just where our simon is from]. obviously this one is incredibly confusing for most residents of ooo, specifically marceline, finn, pb, and others .
• eventually, they figure out [pretty quickly] that this is NOT their simon . they try to ask where their simon is [who is out traveling with fionna and cake], but winter king has no clue !! he likely tries to pretend he does know though .
• ultimately . marceline ends up hating winter king
simon / F&C world interception AU
• is it obvious i don't have names for them
• ok so . basically, somehow simon ends up in the F&C modern au. which . technically should be impossible since it's inside his brain,,, but i have thought of a solution
• simon somehow [accidentally] projects his consciousness into the F&C world, leaving his real body just kinda There [probably unconscious]. think of it like that one adventure time episode where magic man makes jake go inside himself, and he explores his own little city and stuff . it's kind of like that!!
• his deal is similar to fionna and cake concerning his effects on their world . like for example how fionna touched winter king's crown and the magic went away, or when cake turned that one dude into a literal hotdog. basically, simon is doing the same on the F&C world, except he's doing the opposite!! he's magic-ifying it.
• shit starts to go down once people actually notice him. since he blends in so well, it takes a bit,,, just starts to get obvious once that one cookie turns alive or smth 😭
• simon is eventually overcrowded by a ton of curious [and terrified] people, and runs off to just the first inconspicuous place he sees. this leads him to running into marshall lee, who's chillin with gary. simon, gary, and marshall lee kinda chill for a while !! marshall and gary probably talk abt how fionna's gone, which prompts simon to feel guilty and he reveals where he's actually from, and what happened to fionna.
• gary and marshall lee don't believe him at first, until simon turns something [idk what!!] into magic again. they then try to get to our ooo
• marshall lee and gary make it, but simon's still kinda trapped in his own consciousness . likely in the candy kingdom hospital with marceline bc he just passed out unexpectedly 😭
•Wooooo his fate is unknown [dont worry its a happy ending]
* i also won't be very surprised if these have been done before just know i do NOT mean to steal any ideas . if that happened it was purely unintentional cos i just made these up based on my minds silly desires

i like to think that besides asmo, none of the brothers + demons actually got to sleeping around. like they get asmo's situation but they don't actually get partaking in one night stands and fwbs. they're demons not succubi! giving someone permission/control to their bodies in such a state is a HUGE thing. so when mc leaves them in the morning they're all just a mixture of lost, confusion and despair– they just bared their souls to you after all!– even more so when mc thinks of it as nothing more than just a casual fuck and is confused why they're all acting like this. bonus points if mc has actually fucked their way thru the demons and they're all just finding out
idk just the thought of humans being crueler than demons in that sense, miniscule really but if you think about it...
(non-explicit nsfw thoughts below—I reference the OM! characters in a general sense but obviously this does not include Luke)
I think the fandom's different opinions on how the demon brothers view sex and intimacy is really interesting. I imagine every writer has their own headcanons about it and how their own reader/MC characters respond. @onyourowndaisymae explored this in her roster series and we had a lot of great conversations while she was writing it. (Gushing about the way we characterize Barbatos and Simeon our favs is always fun to do. lol)
For me personally, I usually write the characters assuming they've had sex at some point in their very long lives, but I use a sliding scale of sorts to label which characters indulge more often than the others and why I think so.
I also tend to imagine my reader/MC as someone that's had sex in the past (writing virgin!reader stuff isn't something I'm super interested in). My reader/MC character enjoys physical intimacy/affection but is also a bit passive/shy about pursuing others for romantic or sexual purposes (typical human self-esteem/confidence issues at play).
How I would approach this idea:
— shy/insecure poly!reader has feelings/attraction for the demon brothers — reader has sex with them assuming a "real" relationship isn't what the demons are interested in (because they're only human, why would they be, they could have anyone else, etc.) and try to be satisfied with it being physical-only — the demons are angsty/hurt the morning after but reader doesn't understand why; the demons feel rejected because they want more, while reader thinks their body is all the demons want — some sort of dramatic blowout and afterwards all the misunderstandings are finally resolved (literal and figurative happy endings for everyone)
It's fun to think about and I kind of like the idea. It's a popular conversation topic in this fandom for a reason—everyone can tweak it to fit their own preferences and MC character/self-insert. My personal spin on this, if I wrote it, would probably be limited to the characters I like writing for (including some of the angels and maybe an OC or two, you know who I am by now lol).

After my ARPG addiction, I decided to finally try out a game that has been sitting in my library for over a year now, and a game which development I followed until release. The Sinking City. A very flawed game, but currently the closest one to a lovecraftian themed game that I enjoy. Strange cults, odd happenings, even weirder creatures and madness are a plenty in the sunken city of Oakmont.
I've always wanted a cosmic horror game where you explore a dilapidated town, or a fishing town of some kind with strange creatures and survival horror elements. The Sinking City seems to deliver this on the surface and succeeds somewhat, but also fails in many aspects. This game is a bit of a janky unpolished gem, and you'll either ignore its flaws and enjoy it for what it is, or absolutely hate it. I happened to enjoy myself enough, but I don't see myself playing this again any time soon.
If there's one thing this game gets right it's the right inspiration and atmosphere. The game is comically lovecraftian making it almost stereotypical, but it works. You got a private detective who's plagued by visions who then travels to a strange American town where even stranger things are happening. You got mad cults worshiping maddening horrors and you get to explore ancient temples dedicated to unknown gods, all that good stuff. The city of Oakmont is pretty in the dilapidated, water damaged and monster infested way and is a joy to traverse and explore.
The quests, or cases as they're called in this game are pretty fun and well thought out. You are a private detective after all so you go around looking for clues, finding missing people and solving mysteries. The game doesn't hold your hand at all and you have to figure out your own way. Sometimes I had to look up what to do because there are some confusing and cryptic things in the game. Especially when you have to go research at a library, or the archives of a newspaper.
The combat isn't much to write home about. It's serviceable. You got several different types of guns that you acquire as you go through the main cases and you can thrown grenades and plop down some traps. Monster variety is disappointingly low though, and you'll be fighting the same 5 monsters throughout the entire game. There are a couple rudimentary boss fights there to spice things up, but the questing and mystery solving is obviously the games main draw.
But the game does fail in some departments and has some strange design decisions. For one, at the start of the game they state that normal money has lost its use in Oakmont, so they deal in bullets. You don't actually get to buy anything as there are no merchants in the game. The oddest thing of all, there's a limit to how many bullets you can carry. The game might seem like you have to save your resources, but you'll never run out of bullets because the game showers you with crafting materials. You also get bullets as a reward from cases, but if you're at max capacity you actually get no rewards at all from a case, which is such a weird decision.
The city of Oakmont is very limited. Despite being a city there are only a few points of interest and very few buildings can actually be entered. Most buildings are static and most doors are locked. You usually have to run large distances to get to anything interesting, and chasing after clues in a case can lead to lengthy runs around the town. There are a lot of braindead NPC's around as well, who don't really serve a purpose other than keep repeatedly walking into lamp post or cower on top a trash can.
You'll also notice a lot of repeating assets and layout. Sometimes I'd walk into a random building and I'd wonder to myself if I've been there before. But I feel like this can be forgiven because the studio that made this game is far from a triple A company and it's actually quite amazing what they achieved by themselves. Despite the repeating assets Oakmont is a very pretty city.
I also dislike how the game calls itself "survival horror". I already talked about the bullets, but you really don't even have to worry about resources. Maybe at the start of the game you feel like every bullet counts, but not far into the game you have more than enough. The madness mechanic was really spooky at the start though, and I feel like our poor detective character starts to lose his marbles a little too easily. True to Lovecraft I guess, but this makes the madness mechanic a little tedious at times. There are a couple genuinely good spooks in the game that caught me off guard, so it does somewhat keep the horror elements going.
So, the Sinking City is a bit of a divisive game. It succeeds in ways that I enjoy, but also fails in some annoying ways. It is obvious though that the developers seemed to care about this game and tried their hardest to make a game true to cosmic horror to the best of their abilities. If you're a lovecraft nut, I do recommend the game. Maybe get it on a sale and remember to play on a gray rainy autumn evening.

umm hi!! im kind of new to this side of tumblr and im feeling a bit lost… looking for some support, i guess :)
anyways hi!! im kel!! and i think i might be part of an OSDD-1B system. like, a fictive or something. im not really sure. i think im kind of new. i dont know. its really confusing, but im pretty sure that im just starting to take over as the host. which is cool but also not really because, if i am part of a system, i dont know how to talk to anybody else. i know OF the previous hosts and i know that, like, three hosts back, there was really good communication… but something happened — dunno what — and now im (were?) back to square one. im really having a hard time believing all of this but i can feel the “shift” happening. i dont know how else to describe it. ive been dealing with a stressful situation lately and i think thats what caused it. a sort of rift, i guess… its confusing :( i hope this makes sense :( i think that im very different from whoever was here before which sucks because i feel like none of my needs are being met right now… but its ok!! im taking steps to fix it :)
i cant really talk to anybody else about this so im hoping to meet to actual systems here. i dont know if im actually feeling system-y things or if im just making stuff up or what but id still like to explore this part of myself
so i guess ill post some more about systemhood on here. or maybe lurk on other peoples’ posts. maybe itll help me learn about if theres anybody else.. i dont know anybody and i dont know how to figure it out. i dont get amnesia (not throughout my day to day at least) but theres still something there. a disconnect, like a cloud of confusion thats always there and the harder i try to look the thicker the smoke gets. does that make sense?
(i dont have the means, time, or ability to seek help right now.. but even if i did, i think that id be too scared to… haha. so please dont just suggest that i go to therapy)
anyways id love to be friends or something like that!!

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 103 - Spirits of the Blue Forests
Star Trek: Discovery - Season 1 Episode 8 - Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
Tumblr media
Oooh, Latin title! Running it through translate, it appears to mean "IF you want peace, prepare for war" which is a bit ominous!
We open with the Discovery launching a surprise rescue mission of another Starfleet ship under Klingon Attack. The Mission is however a failure. The other ship is lost, and Discovery has to Spore Jump out of there. Despite the Spore Drive's great speed abilities, the Klingon invisibility ships are just impossible to target until they make themselves visible, which is an difficult problem that I can't wait to see how they think around.
Meanwhile, Paul seems to be having some after effects from being plugged into the Spore drive. We know from last episode that Ripper's DNA had some weird time effect on him, and now he appears to have a bit of confusion, and accidentally refers to Sylvia Tilly as Captain. A hint at the future perhaps? Well, later in the episode we get some more details about what he's experiencing, but I can't figure out if it's time related, or multiverse related or just entirely in his head. I need more to go on.
After the aforementioned battle, we find out that Starfleet Command has asked discovery to go to a planet called Pahvo. Saru, Michael, Ash make up this the ground team, and the plan is to study the planet's unique vibrations to make a SONAR system for detecting the cloaked Klingon ships. I'm not 100% sure how a Sonar System is supposed to work in the vacuum of Space, surely the vibrations would need matter to be carried across. Either way, the planet is absolutely gorgeous. I love the blues.
I actually really enjoy this trio working together. Now that Michael and Saru have made up, they bounce off each other pretty well, they have some fun banter with eachother across the scenes of them exploring the planet, and have a really nice balance of personalities. They encounter some Ethereal creatures, and now the team are required to make official first Contact. Michael mentions that there is an official protocol for that now, which is certainly going to make things a lot easier than in the days of Archer making it up as he went along. While Saru is off trying to communicate with the creatures, Ash and Michael have a moment of bonding by the fire. They want to be together, but as long as there is a war, they'll be kept busy and as soon as the war is over, Michael is going back to prison. It's a very important problem for Michael's future, and we get an interesting look into both her Ash's moralities in this scene. And also a kiss, which is also nice.
The Pahvans initiate a telepathic communication with Saru, who then crushes Michael and Ash's communicators and goes mad at trying to keep the team on the planet. Ash takes command and decides to distract Saru while Michael tries to contact Discovery.
Also, throughout the episode we keeping cutting back to the Klingons. The Klingon leaders are trying to torture Admiral Cornwell, but apparently the Torturer has other plans. The Torturer wants to defect to the Federation, and launches a plan to escape with the Admiral. They move to assassinate the leadership as they escape, but are caught in the process and end up in a faux fight with eachother to avoid recapture. The torturer knocks Cornwell unconscious, and uses it to feign her death, and dumps her unconscious body in with a bunch of real Klingon bodies. I'm not sure where their arc is going, but I will say it's first time in Discovery that the Klingon side of things has properly held my attention enough to fully work through my difficulties with subtitles.
We're left on a cliffhanger of the Pahvans summoning the Klingon Flagship, because they don't understand the reality of war and want to bring harmony, and Discovery is left to protect them.
I really liked this episode. The Pahvo stuff was really nice, I love delving into these characters. It was a lovely episode for Saru, and how he's entirely motivated by keeping the Pahvans out of the war is beautiful. Apparently, this was the first time he had lived without fear, and his reaction to having that taken away is heartbreaking. The character development on Michael and Ash was amazing too. I love this kind of character focus episode.

Discworld | Part 8
Tumblr media
Time to continue my exploration and gathering information on what it takes to be a hero. Next up I went to the Inn to see what was happening there now.
Inn:
New stuff outside!
Tumblr media
We've got an inn/bar-keeper, a sailor, Gaspode the Wonder Dog who talks and his wooden man, I mean totally normally man and not a weird puppet? at all.
Gaspode was basically using the wooden man as a ventriloquist dummy and every time I tried to talk to the sailor Gaspode would take over there, too. I tried giving Gaspode the bone, but he just spat it out when I tried talking to the sailor and I lost it. I reloaded then left for now but would be back.
Street: Toy Shop: the toy bin had new toys: this time a dinosaur! Otherwise things were unchanged.
Tumblr media
Dino.
I didn't find much else of interest in the Street areas, although the fishmonger was back and no longer being tormented, I mean loved on, by the toilet octopus.
Shades: Hovel: Found a knife in a bag of thief's tools.
House of Negotiable Affection: I chatted with one of the ladies there and found out a hero should have camel-flage (possibly a kind of perfume according to her?)
My last location in the city was the newly opened Sybil Ramkin's Dragon Sanctuary for swamp dragons which are far less dangerous than the current full dragon terrorizing the city. Swamp dragons are mostly a terror to themselves with their tendency to explode very easily.
Tumblr media
I met her at the door after knocking but she told me to come round the back as she's feeding her darlings.
So to the dragon pens!
Tumblr media
And this has gotta be a Monkey Island reference. "That's the second largest woman I've ever seen!"
Monkey Island: "That's the second biggest monkey head I've ever seen!"
Unless they're both referencing something else.
There were a few things to do here. I scooped up a nail and a leash. She seemed fine with me just taking the leash... Of course I had to examine all the dragons it would let me.
There was also a blue rosette and ribbon, but I couldn't grab it without Sybil chatting at me. It was a reward for one of her prize winning dragons. The dunnyking, er, custard king, was calling his custard blue ribbon custard, the best custard. So I figured there's a connection there.
I chatted with Sybil and discovered she WAS the woman at the barber's from early in the game as I wondered. I also learned of the swamp dragons' drive to eat anything that will help work their digestion up for flames but will often overdo it and explode. One of them sadly exploded during the conversation.
I moved on and decided to deal with the areas outside the city next.
I went to the woods only to find the barber still there still waiting on the girl ever coming to meet him. I didn't get anything else though. I next went to the Edge of the World, or rather I tried to but then things took a little diversion.
As Rincewind started to enter the water a big monster showed up.
Tumblr media
By its many eyes and tentacles I can only assume it's meant to be a Thing from the Dungeon DImensions, which I'm not sure the game has mentioned yet or I may have forgotten. It's possible one of the wizards referred to it before. Either way, things weren't looking good for our wizard here until a giant hand suddenly came down and scooped him away leaving him in a tight place.
Tumblr media
Then I was shown a scene of the gods in Dunmanifestin. The gods were arguing about cheating and trying to swap dice. The God, Offler seems to be planning another meeting with one of his monks. This was all, I assume, meant to be in reference to some events in the first books, but it felt like it came from nowhere in this game and would probably confuse players who hadn't read The Colour of Magic... I guess it's a note that the gods are watching and life on the Disc is all a game to them. Certainly, Rincewind's fate is.
Anyway, after a bit of back and forth it had turned out Lady Luck (I assume her) had whisked away Rincewind and stashed him in her bosom... She released him again and placed him back on the Disc.
Tumblr media
Then I was back to my own devices and continued on my way to the Edge of the World where I found nothing new.
After all of that diversion and potential foreshadowing, there's really nothing to do but carry on business as usual. I moved onto the mountain pass, but found nothing there either, so I continued on to Nanny Ogg's place. She's home now and was knitting.
Tumblr media
By examining a very long winding string of wool, Rincewind started following it until finding a hatch that led out back where I found a mallet and a sheep!
Tumblr media
Aside from getting the mallet and appreciating the sheep I wasn't sure what else to do here, so I made note of Her Wooliness and took off again.
Cue another wander and fiddling with items while I tried to figure out what to do next and what I might have missed.
I went again to the inn, and tried the bone again, but still resulted in Gaspode spitting it back out with no further hints. So, I left and went to the dungeon to see if I could get another bone. That wasn't a problem and while I was there I took another look at the mouse-hole. Just like way back when I was trying to get an imp, I tied the twine to the worm and set the worm on the hole. A rat came out and Rincewind caught it.
Tumblr media
Examining and using it revealed it had a zipper on its back and was actually just a rat costume for... an imp! Or possibly the same imp! So I've got the imp back for the camera.
I realized I forgot to go to the brotherhood's hideout when I was doing my city sweep, so I went there, did the usual password at the door and got handed a custard tart. I will never be free of custard.
Back at Nanny Ogg's I took a photo of the sheep.
I went back to Sybil's and this time figured out how to get the blue rosette by knocking at the front door to summon Sybil then leaving her without saying anything to go back to the pens and snag the ribbon before she came back. I've had that framed octopus picture for ages. I was able to put the sheep picture in it instead... I look forward to seeing what that'll be used for. I went again to the toy shop thinking maybe I could somehow glue the blue ribbon? Get it to stick to the custard tart container? I dunno. That didn't work but I realized, sticky! I needed something sticky to keep Gaspode from spitting out the bone. And so I glued up the bone. That would hopefully solve my problem with Gaspode.
Yeah, the gluey bone kept Gaspode from spitting it back out, so I was able to talk to the sailor without interference this time. He wanted some milk but I was able to get some from the barkeep then he talked.
Tumblr media
He told me some tales about Amazon women, but also, importantly the topic of his tattoo came up. However, he won't say where he got it until his parrot, Polly, is found. He gave me a whistle to summon the parrot.
The only place I've seen birds is at the edge of the world, so I went back there again and with the whistle was able to summon Polly. He stayed in the air and like a stereotypical parrot, he did the ol' Polly want a cracker. I didn't have crackers, but I had a firecracker... I launched it at him knocking him into the water, but still out of reach. He's fine just a bit stunned. I tried the butterfly net and Rincewind did do an animation with it reaching out, but it couldn't reach.
Tumblr media
I hit a point of just trying stuff on stuff. I thought maybe the snake might be involved somehow? Since it's long? Turned out I could stiffen it with starch and make it longer with the fertilizer for an extremely long stiff snake with magic markings and even with a knob on the end.
Tumblr media
It didn't work for extending the butterfly net, but a knob on the end brings a wizard's staff to mind and Windle still had one, so I went back to UU. And swapped his staff again.
Tumblr media
I got an extending stick which I could attach to my butterfly net and I caught the parrot at last.
Tumblr media
Triumphant, I brought him back to the sailor only to discover that I had dropped his whistle. Now, something had gone by when I was catching Polly and I guess that must have been the whistle and I didn't realize. That was his handcrafted Hublander whistle from his mother, so now he was too distraught to talk still and I had to go back and find the whistle that was swept over the edge of the world.
At first I thought with the fork there looking like part of a slingshot maybe I'd need to launch something. Like maybe one of the birds had scooped the whistle or caught a fish that caught the whistle as the game had made a point that the birds catch fish going over the edge.
With that in mind I thought of the rubber belt as part of the dunnyking's machine. I was able to use the knife to cut away the belt and get it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the answer.
I needed to use the magic hat with the endless ribbons. That led to a ribbon rope going over the edge that I was able to use to climb down.
Tumblr media
Part way down I had another run-in with Death who's just watching as usual as it's not time yet, but he dropped some more foreshadowing for seeing Rincewind again in the Square...
Tumblr media
Then I climbed further down to end up on the shell of the Great A'Tuin itself, the world turtle.
Tumblr media
The whistle was just lying on the shell and I was able to grab it. I didn't see anything else but hopefully didn't miss anything. I left anyway.
After all that, I was able to finally find out how to get a tattoo: go to the barber. That's it. I suspected it'd be him.
Except, he's still waiting for the girl. I stopped by his shop just in case and it was a good thing I did as I had missed a pair of scissors and an appointment book with nice big pages. I brought the book to the milkmaid/actress to get her to sign it which she did.
I then went to see the barber in the woods who was too busy thinking about her to come back, but with the signed appointment book was convinced she would come in for an appointment, so he went back.
Finally, I thought. Before I went back, since I had to pass through the City Gate anyway, I talked to Nobby again now I had collected a bunch of information about what a hero needs. I was able to try different combos of things to get the odds again and confirm what I learned.
Tumblr media
Trying everything resulted in odds too high. It's gotta be exactly 1 million. The combination I'll need is:
Magic Talisman
Mustache
Birthmark
Magic Book
Camo-flage
Sword that goes ting
Six items again. I'm hoping the dragon summoning book counts as the magic book, though, so that I only need to find five items and I was well on the way for the birthmark as that's what the tattoo would cover.
So, I moved on to the barber and talked with him. He went into somewhat graphic detail about giving a tattoo and Rincewind chickened out. However, he offered another suggestion: a temporary transfer fake tattoo. His son gets them with bubblegum. His son is the lovable street starfish. And so this all continues...
I went to talk to the street urchin, but he wouldn't just give me one because he's collecting them.
Tumblr media
So I needed to figure out some way to get it from him while he's holding it up being all taunting. Or I need to do something to him before that stage. I don't know, but the steps to get this tattoo feel never-ending and that's just one of the items.
I also talked to the old folks again while I was in the square in case they had anything helpful. I had the option to ask about the magic talisman that I must not have checked back on with them. They suggested the "Eye of Offler" in the secret temple of Offler. Only the bravest, most fantastic adventurer could stand a chance of finding out where the temple is. I figured on that braggart in the Broken Drum.
So, my next steps will be to take a last look at my current stuff with this street urchin and then if nothing works there, start pursuing the Temple of Offler in hopes that maybe I'll find something helpful along the way.
Hopefully next time will come much progress on getting these items.
Argh!!!

Random question,
Were you homeschooled? If you were, I have literally no socialization when it comes to people besides family. My mental health is rotting, I'm extremely emotionally sensitive, and I feel I really need friends, like it just feels like it would help alot.
What do you think?
i was only homeschooled for 8th grade, but i do get the sentiment of not knowing how to make friends. i used to have a big friend group that i've since lost bc back in 2020 my best friend of 10 years (and basically my life line to that group) decided she didn't want to be friends with me anymore bc her life was too stressful and she figured she was a shit friend anyway so she should cut me loose (along with a mirade of other things that went on that she blamed it on). so, i haven't had a core group of friends in a long time and i struggle to connect with ppl.
i will say, your best bet - at least at first - is to try to make friends online based on things/fandoms you are a part of. i have my couple friends on here, and even tho we almost exclusively talk about snc related shit, i still count them as my closest friends. and it's nice to be able to talk to them about that stuff.
and as for in real life stuff you can do to make friends, idk how old you are, but try to see if there are any local groups or events you can join in your area. see if there is a book group at your local library, see if there are any classes at a community center you can take. hell, even getting a job where some of the ppl in that place are the same age as you is good starting point as well. when you are in forced proximity with ppl, you tend to befriend others more often. that's why a lot of us were even able to have friends in school.
try to go into everything with an open mind. and genuinely remember that 99% of ppl are a, in the same boat as you (confused and don't know what to do next) and b, aren't trying to hurt your feelings. most ppl are nice. of course there are assholes, but try not to let ppl like that bring you down. and gentle reminder, you most likely are not as awkward as you feel. and i know that from personal experience lol
also, my biggest recommendation is working on yourself as well and learning to become your own best friend. i know that's very cliche and silly to say, but highkey one of the best choices i ever made was learning to cut myself some slack and start being nice to myself. if you can afford it, consider therapy. but i know that's not always an option for ppl (even myself). try to do some introspection on who you are, the obstacles you've gone thru and overcame, and do your best to be nice to yourself. i'm telling you, when you start to actually like yourself and give yourself a break, especially on the things you had no control over in the first place, life starts to feel a lot less harder to deal with.
even if your first step is to start reading self help books - do that. write out your feelings more, explore why you act the way you do and if that's something you want to change. set goals that are reasonable, put pride into yourself. treat yourself like you would someone you are friends with. think of yourself as someone worthy of love, bc you are.
but let it be known that this will not happen overnight. i wish it did, but it took me YEARS, i truly mean years, to finally start liking myself and having any resemblance of confidence. it will not happen in one go. you have to be consistent and constantly working on yourself. and i know that can be difficult. but in the long run it will do wonders for yourself.
i wish i had all the answers for you, and i wish i knew the best course for you to take. and i wish you all the luck in the world. i truly believe you will make friends and start a great path on your mental health journey. it won't be easy, and it will take a lot of time, but it's worth it bc you deserve that. you deserve happiness <3

Starfield (30 hours in)
Like many others, I disappeared head long into Starfield on Friday.
That game sure is a Bethesda game. And I mean that with all the implied positives and negatives depending on your own thoughts and feelings about Oblivion, Fallout, Skyrim etc.
It's a pretty slow burn to start with, but that was okay with me. I don't often pre-order games. But the timing was right for me wanting to get lost deep within a game world, particularly a scifi one.
The fast travel system is both a huge time saver, but also diminishes the feeling of the size of the galaxy. Want to travel back to your home base but many jumps away from home. Blip! No problem, you're there in an instant. It's fortunate that load times, on PC at least where I'm playing, are short enough that flitting between locations is relatively quick. Like.. quick enough that I don't feel the lure of picking my phone up to check something.
I spent a good chunk of the early game in Jemison. I can see that in terms of design they went for a city that is grand in scale and perhaps utopian. Unfortunately, in terms of the game it's all very large expanses and bland enough that it's really easy to get lost. The surface map which should help with these sort of things is basic to the point of actually not being very useful. I eventually found some visual markers to help me remember where various shops and points of interest were, but MAAAAN, the game does not help with this.
I've been sticking to mostly the main quest line and it's been moving me along at a decent pace. I won't include any spoilers here, but it was interesting enough to keep me moving through the quest log. There's some tasks that involve collecting powers (think dragonborn in Skyrim) and there's enough of those that it's starting to get a bit repetitive. That is perhaps my fault because I'm trying to cross them all off to get them off my list and continue with the game proper. Perhaps I should just intersperse it between other things instead?
On the main quest line, I started bumping into enemies that were killing me with ease. To the point that I actually got stuck deep within a map with very low health and no med kits. I managed to drag myself back to the ship and heal up. But it's making me wonder if I need to go off to do some side quests in order to get more skills and better equipment.
During my last session I started playing around with ship customisation, mostly due to running out of storage space. It's a bit confusing but I presisted and eventually figured out how it works through trial and error. I think this might be the thing that gets me playing with base building and resource mining, since I'm assuming you'll need that stuff to build things from scratch.. but I could be wrong!
Following that train of thought I also built a basic base, initially mining iron. I've spotted that it's possible to automate the collection and delivery of resource to other places, creating a supply chain of sorts. That appeals although I'm not sure if I want to put the effort in yet.
So, overall impressions so far.... I like it, but I don't love it. And maybe that's okay? As my time with the game has increased, and I've found other places to explore, I've started enjoying it a little more. And perhaps that's a bit of a criticism of the opening hours of the game.
I'll write another one of these once I've made a bit more headway.

Beneath The Rising Sun - Shiketsu!Izuku Quirk Notes
Hellooo! if you're just passing by, I'm building an entire Shiketsu!Izuku AU that includes him having A Telekinesis Quirk. If you're here from my fic When the Dust Settles, then you're in the right place!
Let's talk about my Izuku's quirk.
Name at age 4: Scanfield
Misdiagnosed as a sensory quirk
Name at age 7: Mind Force
He figured out he could move stuff around
Name at age 14: Entropy Field
With the help of his teachers, he learned most of the true mechanics behind his quirk. Including its drawbacks.
TL;DR Passive Awareness = Sensory Overstimulation (buzzing lights, muffled audio, crowd vertigo) Deep Focus = Heavy Cognitive Strain (headaches, memory misfires, sluggish thoughts) Baseline Telekinesis = Body-Heat Drain (clammy skin, cold fingers, shivers) Overextended Telekinesis = Heat Drain + Mental Overload (starts at nosebleeds, ramps up the farther he pushes himself, all the way into seizure territory)
The quirk comes with Three Distinct Abilities; a tactile field base, a sort of deep focus awareness, and telekinesis
Tactile Field Base I normally refer to this as his “passive field.” it’s always on, like background noise. He gets overstimulated really easily because of it, but he can sense Moving Things (including people) within about a 30ft omnidirectional radius, but not in detail. Think Daredevil, but autistic.
Deep Focus I refer to this as a “deep scan.” It triggers automatically when he’s stressed or feeling intense emotion, but it causes hella cognitive fatigue. If he’s triggering it on purpose, it takes intense focus. Imagine tensing every single muscle in your body at once while also doing calculus. Yeah.  It allows him to feel Everything in an expanded radius of 50ft. EVERYTHING, but it focuses on things that Move/can move. Including blood and organs. It freaks him out.
Telekinesis What it says on the tin. We’ll explore this in a second, but lemme tell you– it’s FUN
Biological Costs
Cognitive Fatigue
Having his “deep scan” active and continued use of his telekinesis causes his mind to start to fray. Imagine trying to juggle a calculus problem, a grocery list, a live conversation, and five Rubik’s cubes all at once. Symptoms: Slurred speech, zoning out mid-fight, forgetting what he was just doing It’s not just “ouchie head.” It’s executive dysfunction meets stroke warning signs.
Nosebleeds? Yeah.
If he overextends his abilities– usually by keeping his deep field awareness on for too long– he will experience:
Minor: nosebleeds, blurred vision, phantom smells (ozone, iron), and tinnitus
Moderate: burst capillaries in the eyes, lost of sensation in fingertips
Major: Passing out, seizures, short-term memory blackouts. If he manages to bypass that, he might have a small aneurysm. Not lethal, but Very Not Good
Psychokinetic Hypothermia
This goes hand in hand with the cognitive fatigue and brain ouchie. Izuku’s telekinesis draws on his own internal energy– both mental focus and literal thermal output– to manipulate external matter. The finer the control or the heavier the mass, the faster he burns through his heat stores. Over time, this leads to:
Lowered body temperature
Numb extremities
Shivering
Confusion, slow reflexes
And eventually, unconsciousness
It can and will pull from nearby heat sources, when necessary, but they have to be touching him. He walks INTO Todoroki's fire one time to purposely overextend himself. Todoroki's fire snuffed out because Izuku's quirk Ate It. Todoroki was PISSED up until he realized Izuku's lips were blue (meanwhile Izuku's literally begging Todoroki to light him on fire again)
Control and Force
Micro-Precision vs. Macro-Power Tradeoff
The more delicate the task, the less force he can safely apply– and vice versa. So if he were messing with something that can damage easily? He has to be incredibly gentle. And while he’s doing that, he can’t do something Big– he can only apply one amount of force to everything he’s manipulating. Like– if he were lifting a truck, and then pushed a person with his telekinesis? Nevermind how that would cause instant quirk backlash for him, but he would push the person with the same amount of force it takes to lift a truck. You can see the danger here, I’m sure.
No Anchor, No Control
Telekinesis requires a kind of psychic “grip.” In unstable environments– like smoke, or heavy wind, sandstorms, underwater– his ability to sense and manipulate mass gets weird. He might grab the wrong object, or miscalculate force. If he’s on unstable ground, like sand or fresh snow, same thing. But if he’s not on the ground at all? Hoo boy. He tried to lift himself once. It immediately ate ALL his warmth, gave him a hella migraine and nosebleed, and dropped him back onto the ground Hard.
Reflective Surfaces Screw With Him
Since he can ‘feel’ mass, false signals throw him off. Illusions, trick floors, mirrors– they distort his perception of weight, balance, and density.
Moral, Ethical, & Emotional Implications
The More He Masters It, The Scarier It Gets
He can feel bones. Organs. Tiny things that break. And the more comfortable he gets with using it, the more casual it becomes. Cue massive guilt when he realizes he didn’t even hesitate to do something that probably violates the Geneva Convention. He doesn’t think “What if I kill them?” after a certain point– just “How fast can I end this?”
TRAUMA!
He begins to associate certain sensations– like the texture of internal organs– with the things he’s done. Cue flashbacks and panic attacks. (Feeling someone’s body from the inside out is not something you can forget, no matter how heroic you are.)
Emotional Spike = Power Spike
If he’s angry or terrified, he accidentally increases force. Cue emotional breakdown after accidentally yeeting someone.
Izuku's costume was specifically made to counteract the drawbacks of his quirk. You can find that post here.

alright it's time,,, sweet home 2 review
so,, i don't fully rmbr s1 maybe i'll rewatch it for yoon jisoo bc i love her but,, i did like s2 better
first of all i like that the exposition isn't in your face, i saw some ppl saying there was too much going on bc too many subplots and all and i unkindly disagree i liked the new characters and i like how everything doesn't have to make sense from the beginning you can just figure it out as you watch and i'm a big fan of that
also maybe i'm being silly but i don't see how there were too many plots bc?? it's just ppl facing the end of the world as they knew it and adapting to a new lifestyle, trying to survive and all there's new characters which makes sense bc it's happening in a whole new place and ngl i did think it was a little weird to go from "we're stuck in this building" to we're not really stucjrbut we live in this new place with new ppl and there's outside stuff happening at the same time but when i got used to it it was fine tbh
now when they do the time skip (cw nancy drew war flashbacks) i was a bit confused i had to make sure it wasn't the wrong ep but still not necessarily a bad thing
now before i start and also bc idk where to start i Will say it's a bit weird how they keep killing their disabled characters, yoon jisu also went through it i think it's really interesting to see how she deals with her loss of hearing and it speaks to how exhausted she must have been after everything she went through to survive s1 she goes deaf a'd simply doesn't tell anyone she's like,, ooh a problem for another day getting to a safe place comes first especially with her past and all it becomes all the more heartbreaking now i didn't look into it but park gyuyoung was Booked that year so that might be why they killed off her character still i enjoyed her performance for the few eps where she was still alive
now onto the star of the show lee eunyoo slaying once more but this time in a way that feels more respectable/admirable,, again i don't rmbr much of s1 but in my memory she was mostly just bark not much bite and i'm happy that she started to get more active altho i'm sad that it comes from all the loss she's suffered, her brother who she desperately hopes is alive, her crush (i'm still so confused abt that like i don't understand straight ppl so maybe that's why but their whole thing should have been explored a little more if they wanted me to think of it as romantic) disappeared he could be dead for all she knows, that one sister kid (i'm sorry but i'm too lazy to look up any names rn) and then yoon jisu and that all builds up to her whole murderer misunderstanding + knowing that her reputation also has consequences on ppl she might as well consider family so even tho there's no use trying to convince ppl she's not a murderer there's still smth she thinks she can do which is : isolate herself and try her hardest to bear the blame all on her own. she probably sees a bit of herself in that kid who lost his sister and she tries to make sure he doesn't stray off the right path but really who is she to tell him what to do? and just now i realized this could very well mirror her relationship to her brother, they're not related but they Are family and so she tries to keep him safe doesn't want him to end up like her but she can't replace his sister and he can't replace her brother
now that little guy,, i'm so happy with how he's written. this guy loses his dad and then his sister and he rmbrs being told that if he's bad, bad things will happen but what exactly did he do wrong to suffer so much loss? nothing, and that explains his anger and his rebellion everything that's happened has made him harden now he knows what it is to survive, and he knows abt loss and he knows abt being orphaned and in a way he knows abt loneliness even though he's just a kid so ofc he's mad ofc he's rebelling sure you could think of him as annoying if you want but even then you should still be able to understand why he's become like this and me personally i could never be mad at him
now another kid that i like,, new girl played by kim sia (don't quote me on that tho) i love that she truly is Just a kid, she's a monster from birth which ultimately makes her unique but she was also born from a human mother who then abandons her (tbt to me comparing this to frankenstein) then she's raised by this amazing monster brother and she easily makes friends with other monsters probably also bc of her powers so in her head : monsters = good. she doesn't know much abt humans besides from the fact that she was abandoned by one but then her mother comes back and she's willing to try and understand them, surely if her mother's human then they can't be that bad right? wrong! get abused bc of smth you can't change and aren't responsible for lol l + ratio. after that she gets abused by more humans and her brother goes more or less missing he himself is struggling with his own monster vs. human thing. she ends up regretting giving humans a chance and decides black and white thinking Is the answer for sure : monsters are good and humans are bad. however this isn't enough and she wants revenge, she turns her monster repulsed mother into half (?) a monster. and i can't commend her enough bc yes, if you hate monsters so much, why don't you try being one, and then maybe they can be a real family, her, her mother and her brother.
now the question remains : are humans the real monster?
and from episode 1 sweet home seems to be telling you that, yes, they are. but most especially humans in positions of power. those ppl. dying in that tunnel? killed by military, scared military sure but just a little pause would have made them realize the monster they were facing was in no way harmless, just a parent trying to play hide and seek going so far as to protect someone's child just bc they can relate to that kind of fear. the threat in that moment comes from the humans in charge of ppl's safety, and the ppl who want to be seen as trustworthy protectors end up renouncing the military and the ppl in power who seem to think so little of ppl's lives, we do seem to have a clear villain and that line of thinking starts off strong from episode 1 in a way that almost seems Too brutal but does feel right.
now unto,, yang hyeji,,, my gf,,, and jung yeseul my poor little meow meow,,,, this goes back to the beginning of this rant,, i don't need obvious exposition and i don't need all the information from the get go. jung yeseul gets privilege from her mother being an important person in this new small society and uses it to her advantage why bother with working when she can take it easy? she takes full advantage and i can't blame her, what would i do in her position? idk i'm not in her position. but as time passes you start to see that there's one person she doesn't want to disappoint and it's her mother, why? bc she's not her biological mother, just like she took her in she could easily cast her out, there's nothing she wants more than to be her mother's daughter. now this might alr be theory but i think the person in that one family picture? not jung yeseul but the biological kid instead now that kid is sick so who is the mother protecting? not jung yeseul, she threw her to the wolves easily bc she simply doesn't care, so that leave us with two options : her husband or her kid who could have survived by turning into a monster now jung yeseul who so desperately wanted a mother is faced with this betrayal, she was lied to, she has no one to rely on. does she pull a lee eunyoo or do her friends step up to help? that's smth we'll hopefully find out in s3 and i can't wait for that i am so curious abt her i sant her to betray her mother to prove that she can learn from her and i want more girls supporting girls. i need to see what becomes of jung yeseul in s3.
now lee eunhyuk,, he is there,, good for him don't be too bitchy and just go back to your sister pwease
and those two military guys? yeah they're gay. you can't make me think otherwoser, the evidence is right in front of my eyes. so hopefully they decide that ableism is bad enough and they don't need to add homophobia on top of that and they let them be happy!
that science,, go oh jungse keep being a little freak with your ideas on human evolutions hopefully you have fun and then you die
priest guy? i need to know what his and that other girl's deal is, i love a messy illegal past i hope he dies and she lives but it seems unlikely.
lucysablefan 2023 review
also i didn't get to talk abt my top however many things that i've watched in 2023 and i'm probably going to have to make this into a thread but firdt of all revenant and celebrity are definitely Up There for me from the cast to the story and everything else i was completely into those shows and that's a lot for me bc getting bored halfway into a show is my number one (reluctant) hobby.
i definitely think revenant escaped that partly bc there was no obvious romance plot for me to get bored after they get tgt but even without it being obvious kim taeri and hong kyung tgt in that show was one of the best decision ever made in cinema. kim taeri stuns us once again with her amazing acting + shim dalgi moment s, that was great i'm still not done watching more of her stuff but i really do love seeing her in stuff i'm watching it's always a delightful surprise and she slayed that role like it was written for her so that was great. oh jungse was there too (ig 🙄) and it was nice he did his job and i was sold + yang hyeji moment ! always a blast seeing her in anything (will make another appearance when i talk abt sweet home 2 in this post eventually)
now celebrity,,, amazing drama, i'll be honest at first i wasn't too sold on the influencer plotline but it's a park gyuyoung drama and as a humble lesbian i just had to tune in + lee chungha slay once again, i've loved her ever since vampire detective and this character was amazing for her
anyways i loved the plot, loved the execution, one grievance i have is definitely the fact that seo ari ends up with that loser classist guy intead of yoon sihyeon which was??? like if not for homophobia ik they would have ended up tgt bc seo ari has too much respect to stay with hjk for sure
also one thing i absolutely Have to comment on is that one scene where seo ari ruins her dress and then she goes "i can just pay for it" or smth along those lines and when she realizes what she said she gets a little taken aback? ye that scene birthed me actually bc??? what amazing writing truly just art
also literally the whole cast in that show was just like oh ye i'm an amazing performer and here's proof so that was definitely a treat for the audience (me)
now smth that Didn't come out during that year but i finally watched bc of park sewan (i still haven't finished doona but when i found out she played in it i was like!!!! school 2017 actress moment, idk why i have this weird cast of school 2017 thing but i do and it simply can't be helped) anwz it's!!!! ultimate weapon alice or wth title that you know it by. now i'll be honest the ending? i wasn't thrilled but i also didn't care much for it bc this drama just felt like one where the ending really isn't that important like ye i used to study lit so having an "oh this is a tragedy (shakespeare war flashbacks)" moment is always nice but that's not what this is abt, the sound design (? eng isn't my first language so don't be mean to me) alone makes this show better than average, the writing? impeccable, those imaginary somewhat comedic scenes? right up my alley, every episode was just a treat after another i had a Great time watching it, the characters and their dynamics were truly amazing and the acting was just constantly delivering once again i just love park sewan and i will finish watching doona for her (mostly, i love suzy too ofc <3)
now smty else i watched that i lived this year : enigma. what a show, short but a masterpiece nonetheless and i can't wait for s2 although obv as i was forced to learn through being a cw nancy drew fan, i should always keep my expectations low when the first season is a little too good. also prim won't be there which booooo,, but i'll get over it and i can't wait to see the new charas.
one thing to know abt me : i love visually pleasing stuff and if you play around with format a little bit and add some great mixed media to your show not only am i sold but i'm also telling whoever is willing to listen to go and watch your show i'm easy and i'm not ashamed.
anwz brain no worky anymore so i'll add onto this eventually but don't hold me to that (just rmbrd i have to talk abt sweet home 2 so i Will be back for that hehe)
