this is entirely impulsive so i am literally coming up with her as i play. her name is ophelia and she’s really very earnest, loyal to the bone, with a temper. she has a kind of sweet mischievous vibe lol, i gave her the pickpocketing skill on a whim and all her spells are hexes and trap glyphs. she’s not strong so she outthinks rather than overpowers. was definitely anders’ little bestie at some point. kind of leaning into the princess in a tower energy, doesn’t consider herself a fighter and is not used to anything gross or any kind of physical hard work lmao. but at the same time her sense of moral indignation means she is NOT a pushover. she’s at the kinloch hold dining hall hands on her hips “jowan asked for NO PICKLES”

Didn't Solas also cast something very similar to "fuck this spot in particular" meteor shower type of spell in DA:I? That would also tie in nicely with the "The Fade was the celestial sky"

He does! And they're referred to as meteors in the Firestorm ability too, as it turns out! Aieeee! 😭

Where that leaves Force Mages? Does Kirkwall have a 'higher-than-usual percentage of mages who excel at this specialization' because of the Veil being thin? Does that bring them closer to the 'sky'?

And I never thought about it until now but. Why are there so many rock formations in the Fade? Titanic pieces of land weren't dragged into the Fade when the Veil went up as far as I remember, and all those floating islands in the Crossroads seem to have already existed since there are ancient pathways & bridges built between them. So what the fuck is that about? Was that just always up there? The Fade is literally Space deadass??

I don't think we're meant to read that far into it, also literally none of this will ever be revisited, but oughhh what if.

will also show my general ui/mock-up progress, for anyone curious. had a general idea of the screen division to start with, then tried to figure out more how it would look. i wanted there to be a heavier emphasis on it all being a sort of "stage" production to start with, so i initially had the idea to have an old roman stage on the left. ultimately i found this too distracting, though, so i ditched it; you can still see this influence in the scroll bar, whose base is a heavily simplified version of a roman pillar. lenora only got one sprite due to jam restrictions so i was figuring out how she should look throughout all of this (so that she could harmonize with the other UI elements). Everything was half trial-and-error, half looking up the UI of other games to see how they implemented things!
