Hello! As someone who is very confused on the layout of the mystery shack, I gotta ask: where does bill sleep??? Like I know he sleeps somewhere upstairs, but he doesn’t usually sleep in the attic since the door had been firmly shut prior to the tooth fairy arc. So does he sleep in the hallway?
he sleeps in the attic, he doesn't sleep in the attic bedroom.
the layout of the mystery shack is somewhat inconsistent, but we get this map in season 2 and for fic writing purposes and building in the sims 4 purposes I use this as the "canonical" layout of the Mystery Shack:
Each room identified:
For necessity's sake (i.e. we ran outta room on the first floor), i've decided that several rooms, most notably Stan's (former) master bedroom and the main bathroom, are on some kind of magical invisible impossible second floor that logistically can't exist since the staircase goes directly to the attic, but that we won't worry about anyway.
This is the attic:
Notice most of it is a big open room. It appears to partially be used for storage (such as: when we see all Mabel's puppet supplies sitting around in the main attic in Sock Opera) but is mostly empty.
The kids' room is closed off. Bill sleeps in the main attic, underneath the window seat:
Except at the end of Journal 3 we know they threw out the window shaped like Bill and replaced it with normal glass. So it's more like,
In the bottom right corner of the window seat pic you can see the top step of the staircase going downstairs; the attic window seat is in the open attic space, not in a "room" and not closed behind any doors.

TikTok shipping discourse is giving me a headache
So I’ve been super excited abt the recent revival of the Gravity Falls fandom because that show was a large part of my childhood. My sister and I watched it as it was coming out, I still vividly remember watching the first episode with her when it aired. It was one of my first big fandoms so I have a lot of fond memories with it (and some not-so-fond, my sister and I would always joke abt how we were just like the Pines twins so certain areas of the internet were…well, awkward to say the least)
Anyways super happy that the fandom is back but why am I seeing so much beef between Dipcifica and Mabcifica shippers??? I don’t remember there being this much discourse before, most people shipped Bill//Dip so that was the biggest rival to Dipcifica I recall seeing at the time, besides Wen//Dip. Oh and also. The other one. But usually ppl were pretty chill abt Mabcifica bcuz it went along well with the mega popular mlm pairing so like,,,even if ppl didn’t care abt them, they were content with that as a way to keep Pacifica out of the picture. There were the typical homophobes ofc but I don’t remember ppl going out of their way to hate on Mabcifica back when I was really into the fandom
This might come as a shock, but I was always Team Dipcifica. It was one of those ships I absolutely fell in love with, I read fics of them on FanFiction.Net and watched all the amvs and cosplays. I liked the idea of Dipper being the guy Pacifica could sort of run away with after escaping her toxic family because I loved her character sm and wanted good things for her. And, well, I related to Dipper a lot so there might have been some subconscious projecting going on there
So yeah, big time Dipcifica girlie but as we all know I’m also a massive multishipper and Femslash Enthusiast™️. It took me awhile to come around to Mabcifica bcuz as I was watching the show I was working through a lot of internalized homophobia, but nowadays I ship them nearly equally to Dipcifica. They are both interesting ships in their own rights with their own appeals. Pacifica was always a character in Mabel’s storylines so people shipping them romantically makes sense to me. I actually look at Mabcifica content more frequently than Dipcifica content now bcuz my main thing is sapphic ships. But if you were to ask me to pick one, I would still probably say Dipcifica
Alright now onto the current discourse. I keep seeing posts on TikTok of Dipcifica shippers explaining why they hate Mabcifica, or bashing the ship in their own edits. I also see a constant flood of comments on Mabcifica posts of ppl hating on the ship and saying Dipcifica is better. My dudes, what happened to “ship and let ship”?? Seeing all of this at the same time I’m seeing a flood of posts saying that ships don’t have to be canon or even make sense, and that ppl should let fandoms have fun, is crazy. And yes I’m gonna pull this card, it’s a little odd for people to specifically be targeting the most popular wlw ship in the fandom. “It’s toxic” mf you ship BILL//FORD
Hate whatever ships you want!! No one is forcing you to like Mabcifica. If they are then block them. But omg I thought we were trying to leave needless ship hate in the past. The ships can coexist, believe me I’m overjoyed that Dipcifica has so many canon implications but ppl are still well within their right to ship Mabcifica
I don’t even care that much abt Bill//Ford (love it and fully support it, have supported it since middle school, but I’m more of a Fidd//author girlie) but I’m glad that’s the fandom’s main focus rn, I couldn’t take it if the ONLY thing the shippers were yapping abt was which Pines sibling Pacifica should hold hands with. Another life saved by toxic yaoi
Mabcifica shippers get behind me

Vanitas tries to knife Luna when they first meet, and Luna doesn't fight back or try to protect themselves, instead they say like "but i'm here to help you, not hurt you". And then Vanitas tries to kill Noé, but at some point Noé refuses to fight him and opens his arms, leaving himself defenseless, and promises to never leave Vanitas alone. Parallels.
(and in both scenes Vanitas passes out immediately, bc he's exhausted and sudden comfort kicks him off his feet)

Vanitas - General Headcanons; Falling in Love
Theme: What does it mean to fall in love for someone like Vanitas, and what does it mean to fall with a man like him? How does he react when you fall for him too?
✦ Vanitas knows what love is, he's no stranger to it (though that doesn't mean he's fond of the idea of falling in love himself).
✦ He's well aware that everybody falls in love at some point in their life. Usually.
✦ So when he sees you and he almost spits out his drink, he doesn't necessarily.. like it.
✦ You don't even look at him as you walk by, and he's absolutely entranced. You've piqued his interest.
✦ However, it takes more than that for Vanitas to fall in love because he's not one to fall in love at first sight. He needs to know you first.
✦ He manages to catch you before you're too far away and invites you over for a friendly discussion of controversial matters that are occurring in Paris just to get to know you.
✦ You're more than happy to oblige, and you stay with him for a while, partaking in the friendly debate the two of you begin.
✦ When you finally leave, Vanitas only flashes you his usual, confident smirk, telling you he's free anytime, almost as if inviting you to meet again.
✦ You then take your leave, the image of the doctor stuck in your head as you sigh, smiling to yourself. You think he makes good conversation, and a decent friend.
✦ Vanitas, on the other hand, has had his heart running for the entire conversation you've had. He's enthralled, enraptured, enamored, you name it.
✦ He's interested, he wants to know your secrets, for you to provide him the solace and companionship he's so longed for in his life of solitude.
✦ Yet at the same time, he can't help but suppress what he feels; he doesn't deserve someone like you, he thinks. Nobody would love someone like him.
✦ And so, he keeps strengthening the bond the two of you share, your friendship growing to be strong and firm. He watches that he won't cross the line, even as a flirt.
✦ Yet the moment he notices a hint that you are starting to fall for him too, his heart.. sinks. And it's not that he doesn't love you. He truly does, but, the man you've fallen for is nothing short of a monster, in his perspective.
✦ You couldn't truly love him, he thinks. And if you do, it's not going to work out. Vanitas is afraid. All his life he has been alone, betrayed, forsaken, lied to. He's been experimented on, he lost early on who he loved, and he no longer knows who he should trust or not.
✦ His heart is being slowly ripped into two, and he doesn't know what to do about it. It hurts him, and he knows that if you knew, it would hurt you as much (or even more) than it hurts him. This fear of being hurt again is chipping away at the thread of sanity he's been hanging from for a long time.
✦ The next time you knock on his door, there is no response, and you start to worry just what has happened. In a desperate attempt to find out what's wrong, you barge into the room, only to find a written note from the vampire doctor, obviously meant for you.
✦ Vanitas has stated to you his rather unusual.. love crisis, but is now gone, and far from your reach. It'd be impossible to find just one particular man in Paris who excels at hiding and running away from that which he wants.
✦ You've lost him, he's lost you, and it's infuriated you to no end. You just wish you'd had time to talk about this, maybe then it would've been easier to cope with.
✦ However, you decide to search anyways, because you think you've earned yourself an apology and an explanation from this renowned "vampire doctor."
✦ An alarming number of curse-bearing vampires have been appearing throughout the northeastern area of Paris, the cases being dealt with rapidly.
✦ You know where to start looking.
