dude, stop saying the succession characters "need therapy." they literally canonically have had therapy and therapy is not going to crack this particular cycle. it's the way that they are inextricably bound with capital 😔 these are not the typical nuclear family toxic patterns that we're all used to; every interaction is not just interpersonal but also about capitalism and maintaining their hierarchy! and "therapy" as we know it can't break that system b/c it's in service to the system.

if we got more glimpses into their therapy processes it would be almost redundant w/r/t the sopranos. like, yeah, tony's got issues because of his mom and his dad, but his biggest issue is that he's in the fucking mafia. the roys' biggest problem is that they run a racist news organization, and that's their sole inheritance and set roles since birth. they may "heal" smaller symptoms but these characters are trapped in the heart of the cause of it all

Buck’s eyes light up at the sight of Eddie and his smile widens as the first song on his playlist, “Love of My Life” by Brian McKnight is at the point in the song where Brian sings the chorus, “You’re more than wonderful.  More than amazing.  The irreplaceable love of my life.  You’re so incredible, here in these arms of mine.  The irreplaceable love of my life” and he thinks this is perfect.

Eddie’s stuck in place because he’s not sure what’s happening but he can tell it’s something big.

Buck walks over to him, takes his hand in his, laces their fingers together and says, “This is all for you Eddie.”  He closes the door, then he removes Eddie’s bag from his shoulder and says, “Come over here with me so we can talk.”

He walks them over to the middle of the living room and after they stop, he gets down on one knee and he hears Eddie gasp after he does.

At that very moment, Brian sings the lyric, “Baby you know, you know you’re my one and only.  All I want to do is be together” and Buck meets Eddie’s eyes and says, “It’s true, all I want is to be with you”.

He picks up the remote and lowers the volume on the speaker, then continues.  

“Eddie… you work so hard.  You take care of me and Chris all the time because you’re a caregiver by nature but you deserve someone to take care of you too.”

Their Firsts, At Last - 118K Words; Currently 8 completed works: A multi-part fanfic series about the romantic “firsts” Buck and Eddie share as they journey through life in an established relationship and their lives as a couple will include some of Buck’s individual “firsts” too. It’s filled with the FANON love, romance, fluff and domesticity their relationship should have been allowed to experience in CANON.  The second part of the series title was adapted from the song “At Last” by Etta James.

This series of FANON future speculation fanfics is being written on a continuous timeline that begins with the start of season 7 (if it were to start in September 2023). Each part ends at a specific point in Buck and Eddie’s relationship so the next part can begin with the ending of the previous part. wwx rly is a character that just REFUSES to dwell in sad things from the past, almost to a worrying, point, and it's very very few occasions we see him do it (when lz is carrying him after being stabbed and wwx remembers how mean he was to him in the past and didn't appreciate his help; when he climbed the same tree of his youth and remembered shijie and almost started tearing up)

so.... god, it's why this scene DEMOLISHES me everytime. we literally SEE the way he processes traumatic things and chooses to shove them away, to not think about it, to put on a mask and pretend it never hurts, either for the sake of others or because he's not ready to confront it yet. AND IT'S JUST SOOOO SAD

‘I think Lludd really hurt him,’ Gwyn said, his voice breaking. ‘I know he body-checked Efnisien sometimes. Like, slammed him into walls by shouldering him really hard. He was such a petty… I once saw him stick his foot out from under the table, and Efnisien tripped and slammed into the counter, jarring his arm really badly.’ ‘Was Crielle there?’ Gwyn nodded. ‘She kind of cooed over him, but she…’ Gwyn frowned at the memory that came to life in his mind. ‘She grabbed his arm where he’d hurt it,’ Gwyn said. ‘He made a noise, like it hurt, but it was- It was like he didn’t want to make it. I thought at the time that she mustn’t have realised where he’d hurt himself because she didn’t move her hand away. But…maybe she did.’ He stared ahead blankly. That was something she’d been willing to do in front of all of them, and Efnisien hadn’t said a word of complaint. He hadn’t even told her to stop. Gwyn felt sick. ‘Maybe she did,’ Chelsea said in agreement. ‘It’s also possible that your father was being careful just how much he was hurting Efnisien around you all, in order to avoid retribution from his wife. Crielle was everyone’s problem, and you all had to navigate her in different ways, and that included Lludd.’ ‘I get so fucking tired of secrets,’ Gwyn said with quiet vehemence.
