#fans can and will ruin things for you

I know broadcasters in ML have always been infamous for airing eps out of order no matter how important it is to see said episodes in chronological order but that isn’t my issue.

It’s the fans.

The fans that don’t tag and the social sites that recommend said posts on my dash. I can’t keep avoiding the internet forever and an online presence is important as a digital illustrator too. 

And I’ve mentioned before, ML is an international show. It is mentioned on EVERY socials and sites such as YouTube, Instagram, etc etc.

It’s just really unfair for people who want to watch it all in order without spoilers you know? 

I did everything to avoid ML bible spoilers and I’ve had fucking idiots reblog my posts here with said spoilers or comment the spoilers. Imagine what it’s gonna be like once the new eps air.

So yeah, just be mindful when you’re talking about the new episodes please.

something i feel responders to pjo criticisms are not getting is book accuracy is important.

rick riordan created this project to be a book accurate adaptation on the screen. it doesn’t matter if annabeth is white and blonde, those people who are mad about that are wrong and their “criticisms” should be just thrown out. no, i’m talking real criticism. because being upset a series whose reason for existing is to be a faithful adaptation isn’t? not stupid. if you can enjoy the series—in my opinion not all the changes are objectively bad, but many, from a storytelling angle? from pure craftsmanship? are objectively bad—regardless, i’m happy for you. truly, if you feel the joy and magic the original series gave me while watching this show, i am overjoyed someone feels the magic. that’s more magical to me, worth more, than the show itself. but if you then insult me for not enjoying the show? tell me i must not love the story as much as you? tell me i am simply looking to hate the newest next thing, and not that i adore this series so much it pains me to see it so? that i don’t wish to see it succeed regardless of the betrayal i feel?

silly me, i thought our shared love of something meant we could all express it, even in different ways. but i guess not. i guess many of the series’ fans are just keen to discuss the show with the same bad faith it was made in.

Even though I will be making fun of Wilbur for saying “psycho competitive” for the rest of time, I do want to emphasise that what he actually said was that c!tntduo were in a “psycho competitive relationship that can be construed to be romantic but it's not explicit.”

That’s not actually shutting down a romantic interpretation of their relationship. In fact that is acknowledging the romantic undertones. What I would interpret that as - and I agree with cc!Wilbur if this is the case - is that you can certainly read c!tntduo as romantic but that that is hardly the most interesting or rich angle to analyse them from.

Personally, what makes c!tntduo so engaging to me is how they have this incredibly complicated history with each other, hate each other, love each other, and still choose over and over again, to connect. They are irrevocably entwined as self made foils for each other. They have chosen again and again to deliberately mirror each other, in action, in dialogue, in theme, despite everything they both do and don’t agree on.

For me, c!tntduo is about them being all levels of fucked up together. Persuing a serious romantic relationship would be super bad for both of them actually. They’re not healthy together. But they do need each other. They can’t escape each other now.

That’s where the appeal of the duo lies. Which, at least to me, is a far more interesting character study and exploration of what people can mean to each other than whether they kiss or not.

not to swing a bat at a hornet's nest but it really does feel like specifically mlm ships take precedence in fandom spaces over EVERYTHING else regardless of whether the ship in question actually has like. any canon backing whatsoever. like totk specifically, a ton of the story revolves around zelda, a female character which certain fans notoriously hate for the crime of. being a woman with feelings. like gee i wonder why we all simultaneously decided to ignore the story of this one. i wonder why we really really really want to focus on this random male side character's incredibly minor story instead of the literal titular character of the game. could it perhaps be because some of us are predisposed to ignore and dismiss women in all contexts. could it be perhaps that we don't want to reckon with a woman we didn't like in the last game reclaiming her agency and healing from her trauma and being a positive driving force in the narrative and would rather talk about 2 men and how lame and stupid the woman who dares to exist inbetween them is instead. hmm

I feel like Fandoms have become way too harsh and unwelcoming, seriously it's like a war zone to the point its genuinly making it hard to enjoy the actual thing

I still say the only three mostly good Fandoms are amphibia, the owl house, and over the garden wall

for all my grievances with tangled the series, one thing i cannot criticize them for is their songs, i mean, sure, not all of them make sense in context (let me make you proud comes to mind), the songs are spectacular, from the vocals to the instrumental, all of them are a joy to listen to, whether they are just incredibly goofy, like the buddy song, to heartbreaking, like waiting in the wings, whether its a solo, a duet or a group, they are wonderful to listen to

Being an ace attorney fan is so crazy because like. Ok so listen. Firstly. This game has been out for 22 years. A lot of people have talked about it but i think theres still stuff that could be said but like. Visualize canon as a circle. Now picture a ring around it like it's outer and separate and that's fanon. And I feel like the viewpoint of the average ace attorney fan at least currently is just that those two circles are the same circle and like. Idk it's really frustrating because within the context of fanon a lot of the characters become so flat and one dimensional. It's like. Ok I'm sorry I'm going to talk about trucy for a second. Like trucy in her fanon characterization is nothing except a magician. She is never a liar and never a teenager and never a performer except in the sense that she is literally performing card tricks and it just becomes so stale when you know there are other things that trucy is!!!it's like everyone is so scared of any depth at all and I just wish I could see 1 original take because the characters and world of ace attorney are so interesting and I wish people would. Explore them

I have so many thoughts about Mobius, I absolutely HATE the way he treats Loki in various moments of s1, the way he tries to manipulate him and use him for the tva's mission, and he has the audacity to feel betrayed by Loki when he runs after sylvie and leaves him behind in s1e2???

Sir you KIDNAPPED LOKI AND ERASED HIS ENTIRE REALITY, MENTALLY TORTURED HIM WITH FOOTAGE FROM HIS TRAGIC FUTURE, COERCED HIM INTO WORKING FOR YOU UNDER THE THREAT OF BEING ERASED FROM REALITY IF HE DIDN'T COMPLY AND YOU REALLY THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE MAD AT HIM FOR TRYING TO ESCAPE???

What he does after is even worse, I could NEVER accept him putting Loki into a torture loop to be kicked in the balls and to hear Sif telling him that he deserves to be alone and he always will be, the worse part imo is that a lot of lokius fans seem to think this is cute and a show of Mobius's feelings towards Loki, what the hell???

First off he doesn't have the right to be mad at Loki, second, torturing someone like that is absolutely fucking VILE and I don't care that people think it's cute or funny

BUT

I blame those disgusting actions more on the directing of s1 who was very keen in humiliating Loki at any given moment than in the character of Mobius itself, I ADORE Mobius in s2 bc he is sweet, caring and understanding of Loki, he truly is a good friend and I love their dynamic in it, I don't know what Kate Herron had against Loki but she truly tried her best to diminish and humiliate him whenever she could, every character is annoyed by Loki in s1 and he's treated like a fucking idiot, thankfully that was changed in s2 and he was finally treated with respect and dignity

Btw I should say that I appreciate lokius very much and I think they're cute together but pls stop with the crap, Mobius's "jealousy" isn't cute or funny, he literally abuses Loki just bc he can and Loki never gets a proper apology for that, Mobius apologizes to sylvie but never to Loki (KH when I find you...), again I blame this on the directing and writing of s1 and I don't think s2 Mobius would've done all that to Loki bc he's a different character in it

anon, the short answer is…not really. my block style is mostly merciful, i think. i’m also gifted with the ability to forget the faces and usernames of even users i DO like, so i rarely remember who i blocked after a certain point.

one thing i do despise when ppl reblog you en masse with walls of text, cluttering your feed, then delete their responses before you can reply, or act as if as if passive aggressiveness can be erased by signing everything with “<3.” i favor directness, and that is…the opposite.

but in that case too i see the person is usually troubled…and usually literally also torturing themselves w my blog and i feel like i’m doing them a huge favor by blocking. they get to save their energy!

I really like the assumption in that vampire hockey period post that vampires, as a whole, are REALLY into hockey like. local hockey team is able to raise enough money to fund an orphanage because all their games sell out within minutes (Cheryll shares the link in the Loveland Vampire Society and everyone is fighting over tickets) I think you could ignore the fact someone is menstruating and really imagine a wonderful vampire society where these old Victorian vampires have hockey jerseys. 🧛‍♂️🏒❤️

I have to say that just like when Ukraine was high in the odds last year and had the biggest chance to win it and then they won possibly because of the war... possibly because it was also a well staged, fun song that stood out last year it did not ruin eurovision and nether is Loreen winning in Sweden with a basic pop song that's well staged (and she didn't win just because she is Loreen and the song is very radio friendly because she failed to qualify from andra chansen in 2017 so it's also a good chance that Sweden just also enjoyed the song).

It's not ruining Eurovision. it's not a guaranteed victory but even if she has the odds in her favour Eurovision isn't just about who wins in the end. It's a competition, yes but let's not forget that eurovision is about togetherness and enjoying some music together at the end of the day. As long as we get to enjoy a good show in May, as long as we have that one or two acts or songs that we love and can cheer on, as long as we found a new favorite song that we would not have found if it wasn't for eurovision AND as long as we get to do this all again next year regardless of if it's in Sweden or Finland or idk Austria and have we all had fun watching a entertaining tv show Eurovision kinda did it's thing.

I think we all need a reason to come together and have fun in this day and age.

You know, I’m debating again whether I should stop doing fankids/fan parents

It’s not necessarily because of recent requests or anything, but rather because of a video I was watching yesterday, which was talking about trends and how they kill an artist’s creativity (it was basically about this one MLP episode about Rarity, if that brings more context). And yeah while it wasn’t exactly what I experience, it did speak to me on some level, and it made me think about my requests

Yes I do enjoy doing them, but I wonder if in some way they stifle my creativity, and sometimes I feel more like a factory line pumping them out, even if my frequency of release says otherwise. Also, I feel like it’s lost some of that “magic” that it originally had for me when I first started. I originally started because I really wanted to, since Cookie Run was something that could scratch that old itch of fankids that first came around in my starting days in fandoms that never really left. I asked for ships to do in part because I wasn’t sure what people shipped, other than the popular stuff, and also because I was embarrassed to do it, and thought that doing them by requests would make it less embarrassing. But somewhere along the lines, I lost that and was just kind of doing it because I had to. Some of that magic returned when I decided to start doing fan parents, but then that went away too

I don’t really want to admit it, but I feel like most of it comes from the fact that these are requests, not so much what I want to do, but rather what other people want. But I feel like it’s mean to blame you guys for that. After all, I literally asked for you to send me your ships to do fankids for, you’re just doing what I asked you to do. And what if you just wanted someone to make some sort of content for your ship? And I blame you for that? Not to mention it’s probably given me more knowledge of ships and what people like, or that people tend to be really nice about it in their asks

So one part of me wants to stop so that maybe I can get some creativity back, or that maybe I can regain things that I think I’ve lost while making them this last year. But also another part of me either doesn’t want to, or doesn’t feel like I can

I mean, if I were to close it now and just do whatever requests I still have, that’d still be over half of my total requests I have to do, so it wouldn’t exactly be a solution to the current problem; I’d still be doing old requests for likely over another year based on my track record. I could just say I’m not doing any more, but that wouldn’t be fair to all the people who requested, especially recently (granted it’s not like I’m fair to them with how long they have to wait regardless). Not to mention I still have ideas for some of them that I haven’t finished. And if I only do some of them, what dictates whose gets finished and whose doesn’t? And again, that doesn’t really solve the issue since that’s already what I do, and it’s not really a distinct stopping point

And then there’s the issue of this being most of what I do, making fankids, and again, this being something I enjoy doing. What else am I supposed to draw? You all know I can’t hold an idea for maybe more than a day or two. But I can’t just not draw, it’s what I do and have this need to create. And fankids in general are some of my favorite things to create

And if I really do stop, I’d want to start again with a clean slate, not just pause and start back up again, since that doesn’t change the issue, just pauses it
