and another thing. I just had a thought of Tim being captured by whoever, really. honestly, the circumstances are not important.

i had a thought of Tim in danger, and he shouts for Jason. not Hood, Jason. And he knows he can use Jason’s name because when he gets here, all these people are fucking dead.

and i’m just picturing Bruce being on his way to help Tim, and all he can hear is Tim screaming for Jason. He’s about to drop down and take care of business, and then shots ring out.

bang. bang. bang.

he looks again and all three kidnappers are dead, Tim is untied, and Jason is holding Tim to his chest. “It’s okay,” He mutters, “I’m here. I gotcha.”

Tim would never dream of outing Bruce or Dick, or even Damian. There’d be someone around to hear it.

But Jason? When Tim is in danger, Jason never leaves survivors.

I found out today that one of the DA blogs i follow straight up deactivated because of harassment. That person has been nothing but thoughtful and mature in their engagement with the fandom, and the amount of vitriol they received for it is, frankly, shameful.

If you continue to participate in the veilguard critical community and do not even attempt to be fair to the game/the people who enjoy it, if you do not do anything to moderate and reign in your community, if you keep vilifying people for DARING to have a different opinion? Then, i'm sorry to say, you are complicit in the harassment. Be critical and complain all you want, but be mature about it. Do not let your feelings drive you into a blind rage.

And if you don't see the problem, then maybe you're part of it.

I'm not bullying anyone off the platform with my actions. Just sayin!

SIGH. once more i clarify that i do not mean people who dislike the game when i say 'veilguard critical community'. dislike away. im not your dad. im not even your uncle. what i mean when i say it is. people who foster an environment that supports mocking people who enjoy the game, that claims that datv displays irredeemable far-right ideology or whatever the fuck the claim of the week is. those people. the people who take it too far. the people whose actions create an environment in which some consider it normal to send death threats to someone who disagrees with them. If you have been rational and mature, if you have taken the steps to clarify that you do not think that people who disagree with you are stupid, if you have been engaging with the criticism in good faith, THEN THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT YOU. please. please im so tired.

Digital Temples are really lovely, and I adore the fact that all these temples are suddenly popping up (I actually have been thinking of dedicating one to two deities as well), but the usage of the words "priests" and "priestesses" is genuinely concerning to me. It makes me feel a bit wary.

Why, might you ask, would that even be a problem? Let me explain.

These words carry a lot of power with them. With these words comes the implication of religious authority. If I went around saying that I was a Priest of Hermes himself, it asserts a sense of power and authority in a religious space. There are a lot of people who would love to use that power negatively; I have been directly impacted by this many times over. I am always wary of people who use this title as a result of what I've seen and experienced.

Those titles also carry the implication of having an established religious knowledge that others do not. It's not just a title used to identify people who are in charge of a Temple; it is a title that explicitly identifies someone as a researched, trustworthy, religious figure who is extremely experienced. This ties into how these words carry power. A lot of people I've seen stake claim to this title have also claimed to speak for the gods directly. Either that, or it is often assumed of them, and that bothers me a lot. I have yet to meet someone who genuinely speaks for the gods in every situation.

On the inverse, I'm sure some who use these titles mean it in a harmless and genuine way (I've met one before), and that's fine, but if you are one of such people, realize that these words seriously do carry immense implications along with them, and do not fall into the trap of moral superiority or dictating rules in a religion you do not own. The most genuine people I've met who identify with these titles are the ones who don't advertise them publicly. I'm not saying the use of these titles are wrong, but I am saying that people seem to be inclined to abuse them. Horrifically abuse them.

Instead, I suggest using a title such as "Cleric". I've seen another temple do this, and personally, I feel it is less intimidating and claims less power of authority. Or maybe not using a title at all. Why use one if you don't need it? Hell, you could call yourself literally anything else.

So, please, those who run digital Temples, I ask you to be aware of the power the words "priest" and "priestess" have before applying them to yourselves and ask yourselves why it is that you're choosing to identify with these titles in the first place.

No but like every time I think about Splinter and what he had to go through just to keep the boys alive, my heart hurts for him so badly. Is he perfect? No not at all, but none of them are and by god does he love his sons.

The fact that all of them are alive, and grew to thrive despite the circumstances surrounding them is a testament of how much Splinter loves his boys. He raised four babies following the most traumatic time of his life, all alone with nothing but the sewers to house them (to hide them.) I feel like he’s not given the credit he deserves for all he’s done.

And I get that it’s easy to hold up his flaws and faults when it comes to parenting, I myself like looking into them because flawed characters are super interesting and said flaws make them more realistic and engaging, but he tries, and again, so many others would have given up on the boys or failed along the way but Splinter didn’t.

He’s their father, for all his faults he did his damndest to make sure they survived.
