Happy FFXV birthday. 🎉 Came at a time of loneliness and isolation for me, and has been a massive source of safety and comfort ever since. Also inspiration; I don't know if I'd be drawing as much as I am today without it. Have good XV feels today, y'all. 🖤

Some thoughts on the recent article on DA:D from Tom Henderson / Insider Gaming, under a cut due to potential spoilers for DA:D -

first, the usual set of disclaimers that accompany all leaks: might not be real, unable to verify at present, sometimes leakers think they're right about things but are unintentionally incorrect or got some wires crossed, games change a fair bit between development phases and final release, take with grain of salt etc

Tom Henderson is the one that leaked the game's title, 'Dreadwolf', ahead of time, along with Jeff Grubb.

all the stuff about the possible/speculated release window doesn't feel like new information really? for a while now rumors and guesses etc have been saying like 'late 2023 or 2024', sorta thing

The game still lacking features and completed character lines etc doesn't sound odd or surprising either. DA:D is currently playable from beginning to end, but not finished, as BioWare said themselves in the milestone announcement blog post a few months ago. iirc, at that stage in development there can still be placeholder assets, stuff without textures yet, 'robot-voiced' or still-silent lines, placeholder text and textures, etc.

I wonder who the sources are? playtesters? going by yesterday's Reddit leaks (DA:D spoilers at link), that wouldn't be outside the realms of possibility. I also wonder how familiar with the franchise said sources are. some bits of or language in the article make it sound like either they and/or the writer aren't super familiar.

There are 'central hubs' in previous DA and ME games, which were of course singleplayer: Party Camp, Skyhold, the Normandy etc. the PC goes to those locations between story missions and between side quests to regroup, talk to companions etc before heading out again. I'm curious what form the hub/base in DA:D will take - a camp, home, fort/castle, ship, secret base, a pocket somewhere 'in-between' worlds etc?

Recruiting and growing companions, completing missions, companions being found in the hub (or their own mini-hubs as in DAII), giving them equipment/modifications & so on - all things found to some extent in previous games. I guess it does confirm these features will return in DA:D.

Re: combat and FF15, emphasis on "the game's combat wheel" as being what's similar

also not really surprised by the description of the combat. DA changes significantly game to game and the rough trajectory since DA:O has been away from the tactics style of game towards more of an action-y RPG. it also lines up with the feel of the little snippet of combat we saw in a trailer (remember the footage of the character in Grey Warden armor doing Shield Wall?) and some comments that cropped up on ResetEra from possible playtesters in October 2022 (they mentioned God of War 2018 as a comparison point for example).

Re: controlling party members, it says "currently". that said, the playtester who was the source of the leaked screenshots and gif on Reddit also reported that they could not control the party. iirc this was also among the comments on ResetEra. this will vary from person to person, but personally for me I'm not bothered by the premise of being mostly unable to control squadmates. it's kinda like that in ME and ME:A and that was fine (for me I mean).

I'm curious about what other details they were provided with, and will be keeping an eye out for future reports. seems like quite a few leaks have been going on lately.

sometimes companies 'leak' stuff on purpose or want certain stuff to leak, in order to gather feedback, see peoples' reactions to it, as a marketing tactic etc. Mark Darrah said that wrt quantitative focus testing at least, there's a high chance of leaks and they know it. on his game development YouTube channel, on this he advised "Be careful that anything you put in there has a high probability of leaking, but that's potentially an opportunity. If you have information that you kind of want to be leaked out into the greater sphere of the internet, including it in a quant test, knowing that in all likelihood it's going to leak, might be a way to test the waters. It gives you plausible deniability if it does end up leaking. A good example of a leak like this was the concept picture of Dorian for Dragon Age: Inquisition. The concept piece includes a monkey. We never really had any intention of having a monkey for Dorian, but it was just what was drawn in the concept piece. And so we got to watch the internet react to this character, with a monkey, on the internet." I'm sure I've read or heard somewhere that the Dragon Age: Inquisition character concept feedback survey was leaked intentionally and that the devs kind of wanted the Crestwood demo to leak (and were surprised when it didn't result in many videos online).

"It’s understood that you’ll be able to move from your hub to missions by passing through a mirrored portal." - this is the most interesting snippet in this article to me. the obvious question is, eluvians? In Trespasser, Solas tells us he controls the eluvian network now, after over-riding the magic personally. So: have we gained control of part of the network (Briala controlled part of it for a time)? taken control of it or part of it from Solas? is there more than one network? have we built some eluvians of our own? In Trespasser banter Dorian was wondering about building eluvians of our own. there are some folks with eluvian knowledge kicking around like Merrill and Morrigan, and there are glassworks of note in Serault..

moving from a hub to missions through eluvians was exactly what we did in Trespasser from the Winter Palace, and it worked really well. Trespasser's setup was really enjoyable. it was a fun mechanic that helped explain fast travel and apparent teleportation. it also allowed for travelling to places all over, from the Deep Roads to ancient elven ruins to places in-between the waking world and the Fade - a variety of handcrafted places to explore still but with a tighter storyline threading through them, as opposed to open-world that felt like it was probably mandatory to include during development because of other games on the market like Skyrim and AC, but which then struggled to be filled with meaningful content to fill the space and in which that struggle was apparent. I'd be down for that. I'm just daydreaming and speculating wildly now for real (bc it's fun) but we could travel all over Thedas that way. We did that in DAI I know but you know what I mean? also what if the hub is in a pocket dimension, reachable only via eluvian? eluvian secret base..

Hello, could I request Prompto reacting to finding out someone has a major crush on him and they confess to him? Thank you v much (◕ᴗ◕✿)

“I’d like to think that I might have had a crush on Prompto back when High School Crushes was a thing for me. I’d never act on it cause all through High School I was more focused on myself and how much I had a hatred for being awake at 5am.

“Really, for me?” 

Prompto was super confused when he stepped into Noctis’s apartment and found that he had mail. There were times that he would have packages delivered to Noctis’s apartment rather than his own house due to worry of it being left in the rain or picked up by someone other. But even in those times, he used the alias that Noctis would use when having mail delivered. So to find an envelope actually addressed to himself, his first and last name was kind of strange.

“Had to stop, Specs from opening it,” Noctis stated looking to the man holding the envelope towards the blonde.

“I had to ensure that it wouldn’t put you in danger Noct.” 

Prompto took the letter, it didn’t look any different than normal mail. Standard envelope, it didn’t have a return address, nor did it have a stamp. Shrugging it off he placed down his bag, before opening it.

The first thing he realized was that it was super cute! The stationary was that of a Moogle riding a Chocobo with cute little flowers all over a pale yellow background. His eyes scan the letter first, picking up the words: “Sorry” “Amazing” and “Sunshine.” The message wasn’t long and the handwriting was rather cute.

“So what is it?” Gladiolus asked.

Prompto stared at the letter again, reading it twice, and by the third time his face had become bright red.

“Prompto is everything all right?” Ignis inquired.

Prompto turned towards the others his voice a soft squeak, “It’s a love letter.”

“A love letter? Let me see.” Gladiolus called holding out his hand, only to have the blonde snatch it away.

“No!” Prompto called a little louder than he had liked. 

The others were used to getting love letters and fan mail. Hell on Valentine’s Day he nearly fell over all the letters in Noctis apartment to the Prince alone. Add Gladiolus, Ignis, and himself to the mix and he had enough candy to last him until the following Valentine’s Day.

“…to…Ompto…”

“Here let me. Hey Chocobo-butt!”

“My hair does not look like a Chocobo-butt!” Prompto called automatically, only to find the others staring at him. “What?”

“You gonna let us see?” Noctis chuckled.

Prompto looked to the letter in hand, then back to the others, “No, it’s kind of personal.”

“Personal, why they send pictures?” Gladiolus smirked.

Ignis sighed adjusting his glasses, “Only you receive those.”

“I don’t ask for them.”

Prompto stopped paying attention as he looked to the letter again, he normally didn’t have any trouble sharing these kinds of things as they all got them, but this felt so personal. Most of the ones he read were very generic, mostly store-bought. Being the Prince’s friend for so long he became quickly aware of the ones that were attempting to use him to get in good with the Prince or Royal family. This one was so thought out and personal as if this person really did know him.

He looked to the bottom of the page, “I wanted to tell you everything face to face, I’ll be waiting until 5:15 near the Chocobo topiary in the park until it’s final race.”

He blinked, topiary? Only for the flash of the large plant in the shape of the bird flashed across his mind. He jogged by it every morning for the past week when they put it up for the Flower Festival each year which lasted about two weeks.

“Hey, how long has the Flower Festival going on?”  He suddenly asked.

Ignis turned from the conversation with Gladiolus, “I believe we are in the second week, why?”

Pulling out his phone, Prompto found the time of 4:58 staring at him, it normally took about 20 minutes from Noctis’s place to get there, if he ran he’d just might make it. Without a second thought, he dashed out the apartment ignoring the calls from the others the letter clenched tightly in his hand.

He figured running through the park might have been easier, but wasn’t expecting all the people to be there. But considering that it was one of the more popular festivals. He apologized to all the shoulders he had bumped into and tried to take the more empty walkways but people just wouldn’t get out the way. If he could get to the garden where the topiaries were then maybe it would be a little more empty seeing that most people seemed to be going after the food and merchandise than actually looking at the works of art.

He had just rounded the corner, his bangs sticking to his face. He knew that his face must have gotten the annoying red that happened when he pushed himself too hard, and he was sweating. But still, he refused to give his legs a moment to rest, no matter how much they felt like jelly.

He bypassed the large flower behemoth, the smaller white moogles made some white flowers, around the cataurs of ivy. He was used to seeing the Chocobo f when he jogged, but seeing that he came from the other end of the park he founded himself a little lost.

Still, he clenched the letter tight and sprinted forwards. He got lost a few times but eventually, the large bird came into view.  He slowed into a jog, looking around for anyone, but the few people that were there were either older, or couples and they were quickly making there way back to the other parts of the Festival. He stopped underneath the bird, figuring that this might be the best place for the person to find him, but no matter which way he turned he found himself growing further and further alone.

He pulled out his phone from his pocket, 5:29. He was late, way too late. Hunching over he placed his hands to his knees giving a heavy wheeze, trying to tell himself that the tears in his eyes were from exhaustion and not frustration 

He would just head home.

He managed to catch his breath, lifting his head as he wiped his face with the palm of his hands. Hopefully, people figured that his red face was more from his run rather than his crying. He turned to head back to Noctis’s when he heard it, it was so soft that almost completely missed it.

Turning he found someone standing there. Eyes met, as a small smile came across her face only to quickly looked away embarrassed before looking back towards the blonde from beyond eyelashes.

“You…you came.”

Prompto swallowed, his mouth dry as he gave a soft nod.  Even if he could speak he wasn’t certain of what he would say he was speechless. His knees felt so weak, and the butterflies in his stomach were going nonstop. He took a step forward only to find his knees given out.

“Oh my!” 

He looked up finding her bracing himself, moving his over to a bench to sit. So lost for words, she was so beautiful up close, and her perfume smelled more wonderful that any of the flowers. Soft fingers touched his bare arms as she got him situated on the bench before dashing off.

He was certain of how long he sat there waiting for the beauty to return, only to look up as he heard heels against the cobblestone that made up the path. Find her racing back holding two bottles of water. Kneeling down before him as she unscrewed the cap before holding it towards him.

“Here.”

A shaking hand took it, his fingers lingering just a moment longer than need be just to feel that soft skin again. Before pulling the bottle to his lips.

“Are you all right?”

Prompto found himself staring as she spoke again. There was no way someone this pretty, nice, and pure had a crush on him. Would even think to write him a love note! He had to have passed out from running and this was a dream.

“Beautiful.”

He watched as she let out an embarrassed gasp, he wasn’t even aware that he had said anything until she let out that adorable squeal.

“I…I waited a little longer today, something told me to.”  She muttered weakly, as she sat down beside him on the bench. “I didn’t think that you would come, I mean why would you?”

Prompto held up the letter that had gotten a little wrinkled from how hard he had gripped it. “I got your letter.” He replied, realizing how silly he sounded the moment it came from his lips. “I just didn’t want you to feel like I was ignoring you.”

She shook her head stilling looking down at her shoes, “No, I figured I’d get lost in the sea of mail you must  get.”

Prompto chuckled, unable to stop the embarrassing words from coming out, “Your’s meant more.”

She giggled turning her head to hide her embarrassment, “I find that hard to believe.” 

“No, really.” He replied, wanting to quickly stop the strange silence that came between them. “Did I have you wait long?”

“I’ve been coming every day.” She replied, “I figured giving myself a timeframe, and then maybe I could get over it.”

“Get over what?”

She clenched her dress between her fingers, as she whispered softly, but Prompto swore he heard the word ‘Crush’.

“So there was something you wanted to tell me face to face?” He asked, only to watch as she jumped, her face flush. He immediately wished that he could have taken the words back, Ignis always said he had no tack. “I mean if…”

She stood up quickly turning to face him, “I like you! Like a lot! More than a lot!” She called, before quickly turning around her back to him, “I know it’s strange to say that to a stranger, but I’ve seen you, and your smart and handsome and I want to get to know you, the real you and not just this crush in my head or the words in a magazine. I want to know the real Prompto if you’d let me.”

Prompto stood up reached out taking her hand, before he realized what he himself was doing, “I’d like that too.”

A huge smile bloomed over her face as she opened her mouth to retort only instead they both heard a call of Prompto’s name. 

The both of them turned as they saw Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus running up to them. She when to pull her hand away, yet Prompto held it firm.

“There you are, what the hell was that about?” Noctis asked, a hat on his head supposedly hiding his identity. 

Ignis was the first to notice the person holding Prompto’s hand, hiding slightly behind the blonde.

“Gonna introduce us to your new friend?” Gladiolus chuckled. “Considering that you had us run after you.”

Prompto glanced over his shoulder as he gave a soft smile, watching as she shuffled around to the side of the blonde, “It’s fine.” He whispered with a soft squeeze of the hand, despite the fact that he wasn’t sure how to exactly answer that you were the one that had written his first love letter. “This is…”

“Y/N.” She offered, “My name is, Y/N.”

You know what makes ffxv so painfully good and memorable for me?

Despite a lot of people complaining about the game's clustered plot. What makes FFXV so memorable and heart wrenching was we get to see the main characters grow.

We get to see them from such a young age, specially Noctis (brotherhood, platinum demo and king's tale) facing trauma, trying to live his life as a normal kid, as normal as it can be and growing older to teen and young adult then full fledge adult, accepting his fate and responsibilty as king.

I get to see Prompto struggle with his self image, identity anxiety and growing and trying to motivate himself to be a better someone a better him and growing confident as he grow old, forsaking the need to cover his code.

I get to watch Ignis from being frigid cold, being weighed down by responsibilities as the future advisor so he was strict to becoming a person of personality and becoming the morher hen of the group.

I get to see Gladio having a tough demeanor on him and even hating how bratty Noctis was when he was a child. Seeing how Noctis was actually just like any other kid after Noctis and Iris spend time together he grew softer, emotional and become the big protective brother that we all know. Not just to Iris. But to everyone as well.

That was why it was heart wrenching. I agree they should focus on the side characters more too but yes. It tore us apart because they had so much time together, growing up as unique individuals that somehow ties the brotherhood bond together. To see Chapter 14 happened honestly broke me that I was gasping and choking on my own tears (no exaggeration) when I finished the game.

Not even FFX can make me bawl like this.

To be given happy times at Chapter 1 til 9 and to have that taken away from the characters at 10 til 14

It was horrible. I had to pause the game halfway through because just imagining yourself in that kind of situation just hurts so bad (I'm the kind to actually vividly envision stuff like this). I was a sobbing mess, that was how much the game played with my emotions. A whole lot.

I love FF7, I love FF 4, 8, 9, 10, 12--

But 15 will always have a special place in my heart.

Elitists might laugh at the concept "A fantasy based on reality." Because it doesn't in one bit represent our real world-- but you know what's my take on this?

The bond.

The bond is definitely a fantasy based on reality. Because the bonds created in there are very much real. Look at the english cast for example. The bonds they created is very much real.

It's not about "friendship is power" trope anymore.

It's about how true friends are always there for you through bright and bleak situations. They may not give you a burst of rainbow powers and make you go ultimate. No. But they do give you the strength to move forward when you think you can't do it. Lend you a shoulder when you were having a hard time. Laugh with you as you tell lame jokes and are able to tolerate your flaws.

It's definitely a fantasy game based on reality.

FFXV is forever going to be one my favs.

Regarding Transition to Comrades (Standalone)

Square-Enix have released additional information regarding the transferal of content to the updated version via their Support Team.

A save transfer from the original Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades to the standalone Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Comrades version will be offered.

Included within the save transfer:

Game progress.

Avatars.

Items, Weaponry.

Chocobos captured, progress.

What will not be included within the transfer:

Photography from Comrades to the Standalone, however they may still be viewed.

Trophies already earned.

Furthermore, when Comrades standalone is released service will cease for the original version of Comrades with this version being replaced for free for those who previously purchased it (individually, Season Pass, Royal Edition, Windows Edition) with the new standalone iteration. Windows Edition players will simply gain the new content via updates instead of having a standalone application.

Functionality after Standalone Release:

Avatar Creation is still functional.

View old photography.

Gameplay properly will not be functional.

Online function will cease due to being replaced by Standalone.

I know this is a bit of a controversial opinion when it comes to content creators, but whenever somebody posts something and no ship is said to be the premise of that post—at least when it comes to me—I BEG you, please do not tag it as a ship. 

It’s super frustrating and annoying to see when I go through and check my reblogs since I look at people’s tags in case folks are screaming in the tags about something I wrote, drew, posted, ect. There were especially a few pairings/ships in the FFXV fandom that got horribly ruined for me because of some of the screaming of how canon stuff was when it wasn’t--just a bunch of people wanting people to see what they saw and doing all they could to insist it was super canon and characters were/are giving each other sex eyes. Now seeing my stuff that’s not meant to be those pairings tagged as such is highly upsetting; especially when you have certain ship names blocked. 

As a reminder: I do not mind if people I talk to enjoy those pairings by any means. You’re more than free to see what you want to see and enjoy a game how you wish to. Nobody should take that away from you. 

But please, in regards to my content, be respectful. Not everything I post with the characters is Promnea, Lunoct, Gladnis, Promnis, Ignoct, Highspecs, ect. If it is, I’ll more than likely make it painfully obvious in the tags done by myself or in the description.

It’s kinda the same as when I first started playing Final Fantasy XV. I wasn’t around much during that time lol.

So lemme get this straight. Gladio was angsting over not being able to protect noctis so he leaves noctis for an indefinite amount of time to go beat up a minor god/powerful spirit that may have killed multiple people before him without a single word as to where he was going? Meanwhile noctis was stuck in some cave in the middle of empire controlled territory thanking his lucky stars aranea agreed to fill in because their local muscle man fucked off somewhere to fight god. That is the most dramatic thing like 10/10 drama queen gladio material and I am living for it
