I love how all of my gamer knowledge reappeared as I was writing this lol.

Prompt: 75. I’m an insomniac who calls my best friend at 3am except I misdial on my landline and I tell you all about my nightmare before letting you talk and now I’m mortified but you don’t hang up (I changed it a bit)

Note: Modern au. Fainaru Fantajī XV is Final Fantasy 15 but in Japanese. I was gonna use FFXVI but idk how the story goes and I might just watch it on Youtube lol. I DO know the story for FFXV and I love it so much

Idia's day typically goes as follows: 1. Wake up, 2. Collect his dailies, 3. Stream in his room for hours (while snacking during it). 4. Use the bathroom. 5. Eat sweets, 6. Stream again. 7. Stream. What's sleep anyway?

Idia sighed after setting his headphones down. He just finished playing the latest Fainaru Fantajī XV game since its release. His body ached from the long sitting position, but it was all worth it for him. The story was good, and the gameplay was phenomenal! Idia needed to tell someone about it!

Usually, he would rant about it to Ortho. Still, his little brother was currently out of town because he was starring in a movie with the Vil Schoenheit. Idia was proud of his brother and wanted to keep his much-needed rest. 

Idia grabbed his phone and sorted through his list of friends.

Azul? No, he would only talk about board games. 

Riddle? No, they both had a mutual dislike for one another. 

Cater? HECK NO! NO NORMIES! (Idia made a mental note to delete his number later. How his contact information got on his phone was a mystery.)

Lilia? Idia's eyes widen. Yes! Lilia was perfect! They both share a love of games and often play co-op together. Surely he would be awake at, Idia glanced at the time, 3 am! Idia quickly typed his number, too excited to click on Lilia's number, and brought the phone to his ear. 

"Hello?" A clearly feminine voice replied, but Idia had already started his passionate ranting.

"Lilia! Did you get to play the newest Fainaru Fantajī XV game?"

"Who is-"

"I love the open world concept, and did you see the Regalia? That car screams luxury, and it has to be my dream car. I need to get one ASAP. That would show those lame normies I deal with, ugh."

"Lilia" laughed but continued trying to speak, "That's nice, but-"

"And the chemistry between the main characters! Luna was pretty, I guess? Lowkey women still scar me after the whole Eliza incident." Idia shivered at the memory of his "self-proclaimed" (and crazy) girlfriend (it was one-sided, and Idia didn't consider her his girlfriend anyway) in high school. Never again. "But the bond between Noctis and the other guys was top-notch! It made the gameplay even better!" Idia sighed and leaned back in his chair. "If only Noctis survived to the end, ya know? I guess the developers loved angst. The song choice at the end was the cherry on top. I actually shed a tear."

"Uhh, that's very interesting, but who is this?" "Lilia," asked, and Idia frowned. Now that he was partially done with his rant, he noticed the strange pitch in his friend's voice.

"Lilia, it's me, Idia. You know? The super cool guy who you spend playing League with. Are you sick? Your voice sounds off."

"I don't know a Lilia. My name is Yuu, and no, I am not sick. I am very healthy." Yuu's voice replied, and Idia froze. OH NO, NO, NO

"YOU'RE A GIRL?"

He could imagine the stranger frowning and thinking he was some creep. "Yes?"

"Eep!" Idia squealed and immediately pressed the big red "end call" button. He threw his phone at his bed, jumped face down on his bed, and groaned loudly. "Stupid, stupid, stupid! You just embarrassed yourself in front of a stranger! In front of a girl!" Idia was ready to bury himself in a hole.

Idia's phone rang just as he made the decision to do it. He groaned at the annoying ringtone, picked it up, and brought the phone to his ear without checking the caller ID. 

"Hello?"

A female voice laughed. "You hung up on me, Idia."

"Ah!" Idia screamed. He looked at his phone and raised his finger to hang up the call.

"Wait! Don't hang up!" Yuu exclaimed, causing Idia to freeze. He slowly brought his phone back to listen. The girl sighed after a minute passed. "Look, before you hang up again, I wanted to say that I love that game too."

Idia blinked, and his mouth opened in shock. "Y-you do?" he managed to say and wanted to facepalm.

Yuu laughed. "I'm not far into the game, though. I got distracted by fishing and playing with chocobos."

Idia felt himself relax, and he laughed with Yuu. "They are adorable. I liked racing them."

"Me too! Hey, Idia, can I ask you something?"

"Uhh, sure…What is it?"

Yuu sighed, and Idia could hear some shuffling on her end. She was probably adjusting herself to get comfortable. "Can you tell me more about the game? I need some help getting through it and would like some advice."

Idia felt a smirk grace his face. "Of course, you would need my help. I'll help you beat all the bosses with 0 deaths. You're good to talk for tonight?"

Yuu chuckled. "Yeah, I don't have anything planned. Oh great, Idia. Give me your wisdom." 

Idia ended up not sleeping that night but made a new friend instead.

"I heard the Child of Man made a new friend." Malleus looked up from his Gao Gao Drakon-kun to speak to his father.

Lilia paused his game and turned to Malleus. "Oh? Did she say who?"

Malleus nodded. "It's actually your friend Idia. The one you often play games with." He said and gestured to the monitor that currently had Fainaru Fantajī XV. 

Lilia smiled, feeling happy for his friend. "What a coincidence. It is a small world, after all."

Malleus nodded and smiled, thinking about Yuu's happy rant that morning after staying up to talk to Idia before passing out from exhaustion. He was also delighted for her that she had met him. "Indeed it is."

Songs

1 - Technically, I didn’t just listen to it, I watched this video. On repeat. In my defense, I was trying to learn the song and it wasn’t easy! Also, yeah, okay, I really like it.

2 - I didn’t listen to this one on my phone/computer in 2023, but since I’ve played Tears of the Kingdom for more than 235 hours and spent a lot of time either riding the dragons or watching them pass by, I must have heard this music many, many times!

3 - This song came out this year, and apparently, I’ve listened to it 6 times.

4 - This one is actually a video. It’s a cover of a 1979 song originally sung by Dalida that was (and still is) very popular in France. I don’t particularly follow Bilal Hassani or his career, but I stumbled upon this performance and thought it was really beautiful. I probably listened to it 4 or 5 times in a just few days. For context, because I think it matters, around that time, he was scheduled to perform in a deconsecrated basilica (that now holds concerts and other cultural events), but the show had to be canceled for security reasons because he, and by extension his fans, received threats from “far-right Catholic groups”. The lyrics say, “Let me dance and sing freely.”

5 - I listened to this 3 times this year because I wanted to cleanse myself of the sped-up version I was tired of hearing in almost every video on the Internet at the beginning of 2023.

1 - I’ve listened to her new album, Gag Order, a few times. “Happy” made me cry.

2 - She’s probably in my “Top 5” every year, honestly.

3 - I often listen to the FFXV soundtrack. It’s amazing!

4 - Aside from Tears of the Kingdom, I’ve also played HITMAN: Freelancer for many hours this year... which means I’ve heard the soundtrack a lot. It’s good too!

5 - Disney soundtracks in general are also in my “Top 5” every year, I think.

I realize the list makes it seem like I’m really into the supernatural, but really, I just follow Jesse Cox and Kesha :’)

And YouTube isn’t a podcast, but it’s what I watch (or just listen to, depending on the video) most of the time, often in the background when I’m eating, working, or drawing :)

I am inflicting myself with more brainworms: FFXV edition

So ages ago when I was but a young sprout, I started writing a FFXV fic called Lean on Me. I've since deleted it from the internet, mostly because where I want to take the story now is vastly different from where it started. And naturally, now as an old tree, I am far too busy to just sit down and write a story out of the blue.

So I'm just going to put down the brainworms here and run away like a coward.

Lean On Me is/was a FFXV fic that focused on Ignis and his role as Noct's friend, confidant and retainer, order of importance depending on who you asked. I'm the kind of person that likes to expand on a world and its worldbuilding in my writing, and Ignis always felt like the one whose life/relations outside the Chocobros was least explored. He does not know the meaning of the words 'Social Life' and I will die on this hill.

One of the 'backstory' events that isn't explored as far as I can tell is Noct's 'accident' as a kid that sends him to Tenebrae, at least as far as Ignis is concerned. I imagine for a young kid 'tasked' with looking out for a younger one like a sibling this would be extremely traumatic; years later Ignis still has horrible nightmares of that day.

It's because of this event that Ignis' role in Noct's life changes to more of a guardian/advisor. Noct even notices that he felt like 'he lost a friend' when he got back home.

Noct keeps a 'scrapbook' in an old book of Iggy's with pictures, clippings, lists, acheivements-parts of Ignis' life that he thinks his friend has 'ignored' in favor of being his retainer. He's never told Ignis about this.

I needed to give Ignis some form of relation/attachment outside the Chocobros, so I created Shiroma Shimura, whose role in his life is one of the changes I've made since edition 1. Here she is the guardian/assistant to her younger (Genius) brother, and by extension a classmate in Ignis' college courses. Her father still hates the royal family with a passion, and attempts to murder them with a bomb hidden in Shiroma's purse. Her time in the hospital, and later witness protection, is what allows the two to get to know each other outside their normal roles concerning their charges.

Shiroma grew up in an abusive and ruthless household; While her father adores his son, he loathes her with a passion for reasons she will never know. She excels at reading the emotions and mental states of others, but struggles massively with communicating her own wants and needs. She adores her little brother and fears her father. She's also a talented pianist and uses it as an outlet while she's in witness protection.

An attempt on her life after a day in court shatters her knee, crippling her ability to walk; even after therapy she needs a brace and a crutch, and can't move faster than a walk.

It is by sheer luck/a miracle that she escapes Insomnia on the day of niflheim's attack; An attempt by her father to abduct her out of custody goes south, and allows the Witness protection team to arrange a disappearance using two particular Niffs who came into town hoping for an actual peace treaty and a restaurant that gramps talked up.

Shiroma is whisked away to Lestallum, where she's finally able to set up a modest life for herself working as a secretary at the power plant. Holly gives her the home of a friend to look after while the friend is out of town 'visiting relatives.' The friend left three weeks ago for a week long trip and never made it to their destination.

Ignis and Shiroma duck in and out of each other's lives until the cast is re-united after the assault on Nifleheim. Shiroma opens her doors to the collective cast, and becomes 'home base' for the team during the ten years of darkness.

Personally 10 years is a really long time for this time-skip, especially if the story is insistent on keeping the more realistic elements. If I ever write this I may shorten it down.

While on their way out of Nifleheim, The group blasts as many soldier production facilities as they can. While raiding one, they find a lab that was performing genetic experiments on a control group of clones. They take the sole surviving baby and flee, inadvertently giving Prompto a baby sister.

Ignis has a breakdown a couple years into the timeskip; Stiff-upper lip that he is, he's just lost everything and his one primary anchor in his life is gone, and who knows when he's getting back? There's only so much a man can take. It takes the entirety of his collective 'found family' to pull him out of his depressive slump and give him direction again.

While Shiroma does her best to support the group as cook/cleaner/supportive ear, her bad knee means she can only do so much. Ignis ends up transferring some of his pent-up 'caretaker' energy to reminding her to rest.

The question of Ignis and Shiroma's romantic interest in each other is one danced around for a large portion of the story, mostly because I want their relationship to be more of a slow burn. While they both grow to care for each other deeply, Shiroma knows that Noct will always be first in Ignis' life, which causes her distress once she realizes her own feelings for him. Ignis, meanwhile, slowly realizes that as much as he cares for his friend and ward, he's been putting himself on the backburner, to his own detriment.

Aaaannnnd... here I stop, lest I give away very important plot elements. There's so much more I could talk about, but I do want to give myself room to...y'know... actually write the story someday.

oh boy that's hard!! here goes though, idk if these are actually my TOP five because I cannot remember the details of every fic I've ever written but they're definitely ones I like, and I'm limiting to one per fandom:

belonging (FFXV), because it's the most ambitious thing I ever wrote and I think I pulled it off

Cymbidium (Daredevil), because I made up a whole theory to explain canon events and a gen fic about plot stuff is outside my normal wheelhouse, and I like the kind of melancholy vibe of it. Totally jossed by the next season, but oh well.

Cognitive Recalibration (CA:TWS/MCU), because I love the whole memory wiping concept and it was interesting to do a semi-epistolary

Opening Move (The Flash) was a great badtouch creepy fic

The Investigation of Trinity (Hannibal/American Gothic crossover) which is the most niche fic I've ever written probably and incomprehensible to anyone who's not familiar with both shows, but I've always been really happy with this one

Feels weird not including any of my star trek, stargate, or hockey RPF fics, but this list has some of my less well-known stuff in it!

210, but about 110 of those have been copied over from my old FFN account (almost all of the One Piece fics, basically).

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently I'm mostly only writing for Rise of the TMNT, but I have written a lot for One Piece and Free!, as well as Twisted Wonderland, Persona 5, Fire Emblem 3 Houses, FFXV, KnB, and others.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1. I May Be Invisible, But I Still Look Good (ROTTMNT) 2. Tight Fit (FFXV) 3. Tapping Out (ROTTMNT) 4. Lab Accident (ROTTMNT) 5. Things Overheard (Hiding Under the Bed of the King of Athens) (Hades)

5. Do you respond to comments?

No |'D I don't know why but it just gives me anxiety so I don't. I do appreciate the comments, I'm just bad at responding. I'm sorry!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably this old fic where Sanji just dies in the end, but I think I have fics that are angstier in the middle even if they end better. For something that's not just the character dying, probably Herbal Tea (ROTTMNT), or maybe Failures and Heroes (You and Me) (ROTTMNT)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my fics have happy endings so this is hard! Probably a tie between Tight Fit and IMBI, since those have their central characters going through pure hell but getting all kinds of love in the end (including romantic love in Prompto's case).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Once. This is the hazard of writing AkeShu (P5) lmao.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOY I sure do. I write all kinds of smut, including a few gross kinks most people put in their hard nos. If you're poking around in my full fic list proceed with caution. Lately since I've been writing so much ROTTMNT I haven't been writing smut, though, since I'm more into the canon for the fluff and family feels. The last smut fic I wrote was The Appearance of Impropriety (FE3H), which is a Dimitri/Edelgard/Hubert threesome. And before that, it was a TWST AzuJami fic that, well, took advantage of Azul's octopus anatomy, if you get what I'm sayin'.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I haven't really written fandom crossovers since I was a teenager and tbh I don't remember much about them, I think they were more crackfics than anything serious. I have written several AUs that use other fandoms, though. Probably the weirdest one I've actually written is a Free! RinRei Dragon Age AU, where Rin is a templar and Rei is a mage (the forbidden love of it all). I also have waaaay too many ideas in my head for an ROTTMNT FFX AU where Mikey is a summoner.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I remember back in my FFN days I would occasionally search up my fics and find them c/ped to random clickbait sites, probably as a bot scrapping operation. But to my knowledge I've never actually had anyone take one of my fics and claim it as theirs. Even that bot reposting still had my username attached lol

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yep! The fabulous @e-turn has translated several of my ROTTMNT fics into Russian! I've had other requests before, too, but I'm not sure how far those went. If anyone does want to translate my works, feel free! Just be sure you're crediting me, and if it's going on AO3 be sure to link the original!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have done some co-writing and some fic round robin events but none of them ever got to the point where they actually got published, because someone would flake out or we would just lose steam. I might be up for it, if it were a project we were both really invested in, but I'd probably have to be friends with the co-writer first.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

MMM this is hard... probably RinRei from Free! I've never felt quite as intensely about a ship as I did that one.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Hold On To Me (KnB); I love it but I am so far out of KnB fandom at this point haha.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character voice, I think; it's what I usually get compliments on and what I feel the best writing. In a way, fanfiction (and fandom RP) has really helped me think about characterization. Something I was certainly guilty of in my younger days (and that a lot of amateur writers are guilty of) was having my characters act as vehicles for plot, doing or saying whatever I needed them to in the moment to move the plot where it needed to go. This meant none of my characters had any kind of consistent characterization and all of them were samey. We joke about "he wouldn't fucking say that," but in a funny way this kind of thinking really got me to think about characterization and character agency. Before I would say, "we need to get from point A to point B, so let's do that." After trying to get into the groove of writing already strongly characterized characters, and please an audience with certain expectations, I found myself thinking really hard about what would motivate a character from point A to point B, and if the circumstances I'd set up weren't enough to cause that, I'd need to tweak them, or better yet, explore what I think the character WOULD actually do in that scenario (which may be more fun anyway). This is a skill I think fanfiction is great for helping new writers develop.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I wish I had stronger word choice at times, and had stronger imagery. I'll read lines in other people's work that just blow me away haha. I could never write so poetically, I think.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If you are good at a language, or have someone fluent helping you out, then go for it. There's no reason any work needs to be written in only one language. I'm not a purist on this. That said I also think writing "he said in Spanish" or something like that is fine. If it serves your purposes better for your fic to all be in one language, or you aren't confident enough to write in a different language, then you can just make it clear to your audience that a different language is being spoken now. Especially because I come from a lot of anime fandoms, I'm used to there being a sort of unspoken understanding that the characters are not speaking English and what we're getting is just the English approximation/localization of what they're saying. So this doesn't bother me. And of course, throwing in random Japanese exclamations in an otherwise English language fic always comes off a bit campy. I do think it's fine for things like terms of address and nicknames, though. I've never really gotten the hubbub over not having honorifics like "-san" or "-chan" in fics because the same people who usually hate that are also fine with "Señor" or "Mademoiselle" in writing and, like, what's the difference? Idk if any of what I said answers the question. My thoughts are that it's variable, ig.

Ah this is hard... IMBI is my longest fic and I'm really proud of how it turned out, but I think I'll always have a soft spot for I Keep on Hopin' (We'll Eat Cake by the Ocean) (TWST) - warning that this fic is NSFW and has explicit smut.

I know it's not Wednesday, but I've had a crazy week. I think to start the new week, I should do a state of the current projects in my 'wip' folder, simply because I've not done one in awhile.

FFXV Related

dal segno al coda

The whole crazy long FFXV fanfic that I've been working on. I had a breakthrough over the weekend that got me out of a rut on part 1, and have decided that something I wrote that wouldn't actually get released at any point probably will (not related to Ad Astra below). It'll be a long time, though, since it's a post-story short.

I've had a goal for awhile that I wanted to have the fic in editing phase by the end of the year, but I'm not sure I'm going to meet that goal at the moment.

Oh yeah. Meanwhile, Elsewhere - the batches of outside POV stories to go alongside events during the main story - has been renamed to Colla Parte. I'm sad to lose the joke based on FFXIV, but I think it's also better to make it line up more to the music theming going on in the names.

There are still the two preview fics:

We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Programming - this is an outside POV fic just before the endgame of the story. It introduces a pair of original characters that were, at first, mentioned on the side, and grew into their own parts.

Date Night - About halfway through the story, Noctis and Lunafreya are reunited and spend a period of time in Insomnia together. I didn't have the space or timing for a lot of what I wanted to do, so I decided to use the ideas as a short with them together in it. It is currently at 2 of 4 chapters, and helps give an idea of the storytelling style/formatting used for the main story.

Twilight

So I'm still picking at this AU in spite of having the fic done. There are a variety of shorts in it still. (If you haven't read it yet, and are interested, the main story for Twilight is available on AO3.)

Sunburned, as part of the On the Job shorts got posted this week.

There are several others in the works, as listed below, all working titles:

There are two more shorts in the On the Job file that are in progress. There may be more in the future.

Group Chat - A batch of unused group texts that I didn't have space for in the main story.

Some Things Never Change - A short of Noct running into Sania.

The Puzzle Box - This is waiting for a chapter of On the Job to be done first, but it's about Noct making his puzzle box that's mentioned in the main story.

A Part to Play - A surprising addition that is turning out to be a bit more world building to the AU than I expected, but Noct is hired to join a small team on a very special project.

There are still some others that I wanted to write that I have in a checklist. I had an Aranea story I wanted to use in the main fic, but never had the space for it. There's another sidestory that's started, but untitled based on an incident that is mentioned in both Twilight and A New Restart.

Hell Diving

So. Uh. This is a stupid thing that's got stuff marked all over and will be a bit more "multimedia"-y of a fic than my others.

Basically, a silly one-shot crossover fic of the chocobros play Helldivers. So. Yeah. thats' a thing.

It just needs a lot of specific creative work to be done before I get into straight up writing it.

Untitled Long Night Story

This whole thing is currently set on the sidelines since I've had a lot of focus on other things. It's still there, and the whole fic just took a bit of a change in terms of storytelling.

I'll get to it. Maybe I'll have this prepared for Halloween this year. That'll be a nice setup.

Ad Astra

A really bizarre/headtrippy followup to dal segno al coda that I wasn't sure I wanted to post. I can't explain anything about this story without spoiling its sister story.

A lot of the notetaking that turned into this was originally to map out the world building that happens endgame in dal segno al coda. It's just come together to make enough for a fic of its own.

Sadly, I'm not 100% sure I have the chops to tell this story well, though.

During Yuletide, my assignment had Ys and Crossbell arc stories listed in their requests. A Little Doll's Big Adventure almost didn't get written in lieu of this fic instead, which was a Tio centric story that may end up being way too relatable. I may still write it, as it's outlined.

The FFXV Remix and Kingsglaive Legends fics at the end really misrepresent the amount of gen I write, I think. Without those events, there would be a lot more CorNyx on the list.

The main takeaway is I really like starting fics in media res, which I already knew. It is my favorite way to start fics. At least I have a brand!

It’s beautiful, and there’s surprisingly quite a lot to enjoy. Nothing says Christmas quite like festive music, new weapons, new outfits, a shockingly difficult boss battle, and little baby chocobo chicks with little baby santa hats. 

Gameplay:

Ascension Rebalanced. Because I’m not grinding 999 AP for anything short of a new DLC and a can of Ebony.

Hide UI For Stays. Enjoy the resting animations unhindered. They’re pretty fun, if you’re paying attention.

Expand Type F Flight Area. For a roadtrip without the road.

Older Party Pre-Timeskip - Noctis, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto. For if DILFs are your thing.

EPA Insomnia. What it says on the tin: the World of Ruin is swapped out for the festive Insomnia from Episode Ardyn. You can’t do much except walk around and break a few things, but it’s a good time nevertheless. You can also remove the festival leftovers if you want to.

Man, I blocked a person and the whole world knew about it.

Note that I and a small friend group had previously told this person it was unhealthy to be “keeping tabs” on their former friendships. She outright admitted to stalking and didn’t see why her actions were bad and argued she had to keep doing it.

This is a person who was in the FF roleplaying community with a blog from FFVIII, and the FFXIV community, so our interests crossed over in two areas but the main differences are I keep very small groups, they tried to keep large groups, which explains how their voice became so loud.

Context for the block: they had been shitting over everyone but only when they weren’t in the chat too (be it voice chat or secret side groups). It was unpleasant for many reasons, but the biggest was they continued to cross that boundary even after being asked to not speak that way. Whatever friendship was left had been thoroughly exhausted (use you like a napkin when in a mess then toss you when it’s cleaned up type) and I messaged someone around that time telling them ‘I feel like a chew toy’ which honestly nailed the sentiment. I felt a lot of emotional fatigue having this person in my space because there was always something, and if there wasn’t something they’d rehash old stuff. I blocked them on discord in a split second decision when my gut told me to get out and thought that would be it. They had actually left a group and I was messaging to check in after others expressed concern, I got a brush off answer and decided “I’m done I’m not chasing you around”. It was a reflex move. Blocked. Left all shared groups, no more facebook or friends lists or shared space. Had no more ties.

They freaked. The fuck. Out.

Went into a previously shared group chat to make sure everyone knew about it. I had left but a whole conversation happened with me out of the group so I only know second hand for context after this all blew up. Lets call this ground zero because apparently this was the hot topic to keep coming back to for months. It boiled down to “she should have talked to me because I’m going through a lot right now” when talking with this person who always living a crisis and in conflict WAS the problem. I have never met someone so nasty yet also someone with this massive victim complex, it doesn’t add up until you realise how many friendships were burned through.

Went to an unrelated group chat to make sure everyone knew about it. A close friend of mine now, who back then had nothing to do with anything of that, got the whole run down because as recently as this year it came up so that’s telling of how far this event was spread that pieces of it are still coming to the surface. You will never understand how it feels realising so, so many people were having conversations about you when you had been quiet, in a FFXV group roleplay chat no less, a community where I have deep-rooted my hobbies. That’s damaging beyond words.

Went to another unrelated group chat to make sure everyone knew about it. That was when someone’s husband commented about the “Muddy and other Tumblr-ina’s making drama”. These were people I played FFXIV with and I felt gross that I was even a blip on the radar when all I had done was block someone without any argument or explosive exchange.

Went to the free company leader to make sure everyone knew about it. Receiving an authoritative message from someone (whose only ties with me were through playing the same videogame) over blocking someone else made me feel so fucking small. I don’t know how a block on discord is harassment but apparently it meant “you should message and apologise because [name] says they are being targeted”. With what? A block? I wanted to be left alone and I sure as hell hadn’t been running my mouth to everyone within range. Someone shared screenshots of the-conversation-I-wasn’t-involved-in to the free company leader and they dropped it because they realised it was a whole lot of noise over a whole lot of nothing.

Went further onto tumblr to message people like my best friend (which I’m still creeped out about that they even tried to involve someone so close to me, when they had no reason whatsoever to be messaged) and it trickled to other people on tumblr to make sure everyone knew. 

I don’t need to bring up all the names and usernames because even if I could remember them all I only recall some, and these people aren’t meant to be receipts to cash in, but it was an experience I lived through where discord, FFXIV and tumblr every other day or week or month or year I was being approached about The Drama. It’s unsettling to have so many people talk about you when you’re a quiet person with small groups.

I just had a person blocked like. Okay... this is... everything is on fire, everyone keeps coming to me like this person was physically assaulted, they were blocked.

I never opened my mouth.

They treated me like a therapist. Would vent to me. Ask me, specifically me, to come chat with them. Now that I’m older I’ll say this easily: I’m an amazing listener and sometimes I’ll feel your problems as though they’re my own (INFJ personality yeehaw). I think that scared them. They had used me so much in that regard, yes, USED, they were scared of what could come back out. But even this person who shoveled the shit deep, their secrets are safe.

At that time I was being the bigger person like it would win me some kind of award, kept to myself. I was getting told by others that they had an ultimatum. To “choose” if they were friends with me or the person I blocked. That was a one-sided sentiment. I just didn’t want to be around the person which is very fucking fair.

But now I also hear back almost the exact same scenario played out, where they spoke real nasty shit about “friends” which Person 1 shared to Person 2 and Person 2 shared on to those who were talked about. So you know. Talk shit and be nasty long enough it’s eventually going to come back around in some form. The difference is I never told others because I didn’t want to hurt people with “the salt” as they called it but now that I’m older I would have handled that a lot differently.

I don’t need butt pats. I got my sweet, sweet ‘fuck you’ that’s living on rent free. This person confided in me once the one thing that makes them lose their mind. I used it against them knowing full well it was going to make them angry when they crossed another line by “keeping tabs” (stalking) in a new hobby space years after the fact. I lived through too much nonsense from a person who obsessively spread their narrative to get ahead of a clapback I never delivered, I’m not the least bit sorry.

This apparent Drama was bigger than just me because it was also my friends being affected and accused of harassment over the conversation-I-wasn’t-part-of, because people calling for calm meant they already picked a “side” which somehow was twisted to “harassment” when nothing of the sort took place. I don’t feel comfortable talking on their behalf so all I will say is that it really hurts seeing your small group go through a Drama when the only crime was a block.

So, that was the time I blocked one person and everyone knew about it. I was damaged from it, and I won’t allow anyone to minimise the impact it had on me just to make themselves feel a little better. Years later I got really angry when they found me elsewhere and started keeping tabs, I’m going to be even angrier if they repeat it. In saying that, The Person should never read any of this. If The Person does see this, well, they have come into my hobby space (again) and beyond a block and a readmore so I don’t know what else to tell you. And if this sounds at all familiar, then maybe they spoke to you too about that gosh darn Muddy, but to this day I’m still not putting their name on blast because people can make up their own mind. If you’re going to judge me, please do so for what you see from the source, I know I’m not perfect and I certainly do make mistakes. Just because I’m shy or quiet it doesn’t mean I don’t have nasty bones of my own, I have a long fuse but when I reach the end I’m well aware that I can be explosive. I’m genuinely tired of second guessing that other people have already heard about me, but not ME, because I’m more than one side of a story and I’d bet the rest of my bank account that they [gestures above] have never shed light on the full picture.

3 headcanons for your favorite ffxv ship! (is it fleurentia?)

Hello there, friendo! :D

Ah hah! So actually, my most favorite ship isn’t Fleurentia, but they're, like, top five amongst the overwhelming amount of ships a folk like me can enjoy. I love the super romantic tropes that you can have for the two of them – especially when they’re all sorts of fun in terms of dynamics: enemies to lovers, undying loyalties to the things they cherish, bromance, etc. The list can go on because the two can be so passionate but also so goofy, depending on the context. They're a really fun duo, and Episode Ignis made them even more lovely together too. 

But since you mentioned Fleurentia though, here are some headcanons and thoughts for them! A little bit more written out, but who doesn't like overthinking their thoughts? c:

Although Ignis acknowledges himself full and well as a servant to Noctis just as much as he is a friend, Ravus still is surprised that Ignis doesn't hail from a royal family. The way that he holds himself fascinates Ravus, as bloodlines, fate, and lineages was something engrained into him since the very beginning. Ignis, however, defies the very definition of it all -- which earns respect from Ravus. And respect is not often given by Ravus unless someone is truly worthy of it. And with respect comes a bond that will only grow stronger as time passes, and Ravus found himself always watching Ignis with a look of admiration and fascination by the retainer's efforts.

Ignis has been trained from the get-go to know how to take care of Noctis, as it is the duty of the prince's retainers to do so. But that means Ignis is very good at reading people -- even someone as stoic as the High Commander. Every subtly in Ravus's demeanor doesn't go unnoticed by Ignis, to where even the slightest twitch of Ravus's lips can be caught by Ignis's sharp eyes. I would always surprise Ravus when Ignis brings the commander's emotions to attention -- for even Ravus didn't comprehend his thoughts in the moment. Ignis is among one of the rare few able to see past Ravus's feigned apathy, and that's a skill that Ignis takes value in.

That is... Until you know, he CAN'T see anymore. When Ignis lost his eyesight during the events in Altissia, it was much harder for Ignis to read the commander, whom sometimes wouldn't say anything at all and be a lurking shadow in the blurred darkness. But even though Ignis's vision was lacking, Ravus make sure that Ignis and his keen observation skills had something else to focus on -- little touches and quiet sounds that only Ignis could pick-up on. The sound of heavy and paced steps that echo on tile as they approach. Metal brushing over the back of his hand, light and gentle as a feather. The soft exhale that Ravus releases reminds Ignis that even though he can't see the admiration in Ravus's eyes, he can hear it. And even though their voices aren't heard in each others' presences, Ignis and Ravus's bond can transcend that of words.
