hendrix just has one of those faces that people think they know - and it's usually because they do, people his age grew up with him on their tv screen as the star of a disney show that was a spin off of the jonas brothers covered song, 'Year 3000', where hendrix predictably played a girl from the year 3000 living in the current age. it was a moderate success, but once he left the show he went to live n relative obscurity, going to college and mostly disappearing from the public eye until he resurfaced as a background dancer in a popular broadway production last year. since then he's been booking roles on broadway with relative ease.

tw: implication of transphobia. hendrix is trans, which is why people only sometimes make the connection about where they know his face from, it's also a big part of the reason he disappeared from the public eye as a teenager, only to resurface after his college graduation and pursue the thing he's always wanted to do. he is very open about his transition, but has significantly distanced himself from his earlier child stardom, and hopes to keep the two lives completely separate from each other.

sam grew up just a poor kid in tennessee, with a single mom who could barely make ends meet and a deadbeat dad, he found solace in the tv screen, superheroes and video games - it was a comfort to him when things felt like they were falling apart. and even when his mom remarried, and his step-dad changed his life - for the better, sam's favorite place was always in front of the television. which is why it makes so much sense that his entire adult life revolves around the media, twitch streaming almost nightly, and running a moderately popular podcast that's all about pop culture, sam's even recently graduated with a degree in media students with a specialization in the cultural impact of popular media - a feat he never thought he'd accomplish on account of his severe dyslexia.

while sam has worked extremely hard to get to where he is, he's always maintained his humble roots, a country boy at heart, living in the city of his dreams, doing a job that he never dreamed possible and he's trying to share the wealth, starting a non-profit for underprivileged kids in his brooklyn neighborhood, and involving multiple other causes in his work whenever he can. he has a big heart and is always willing to give a piece of it away to those who need a little bit of love.

Had a dream last night that I was stuck in a shitty like Unity Asset Store-ass VR horror game, it was trying so hard to be scary but it just Was Not since it just felt like a no budget Baby's First game, like all the scares it could manage were like, "Oh, you looked at a thing and it's been suddenly replaced with a Creepy Object™ and we played the most generic horror movie sting you've ever heard"

It was set in a house that only had like 4 rooms in it, you spawned in a basement and had to just kinda wander around the 4 rooms until some npcs appeared (they didn't have any models, they were disembodied voices but one of them was played by Ian McShane so I assume that's where the entire budget went) and then the screen would fade to black and you'd be in a van having apparently escaped but Shock! Horror! That was just The Spooky fuckin with you! And then you'd respawn in the basement again

For some reason one of the Creepy Object™'s was just like, a completely normal crab with no animations at all (the model was also significantly more detailed than any other one) so since I'm spiteful I was just super affectionate with it, I named it Crabbo and would hug it and give it a lil kiss on the forehead whenever it showed up

Eventually I got sick of exploring the same 4 rooms on a loop so after one particularly annoying "scare" (I had grown accustomed to throwing shit around outta boredom so the game made all the Creepy Objects™ stick to my hands so I couldn't yeet 'em and they kept playing the Horror Movie Sting on loop and it was overlapping since there were like three Creepy Objects™ stuck to my hand at once and all of them were set to make noise) I was just like "Man fuck this" and woke up

The biggest things for me were learning how to break down lighting in references and learning the brushes of the program I use (FireAlpaca). Sadly, I don’t have any specific tutorials or readings to recommend, since a lot of it was just trial and error.

Really don’t be afraid to use references. I learned a lot just by color picking from references and seeing how light affected color and how it acted on different textures, or at different angles, etc. The piece this reblog was attached to was referenced from The Creation of Adam, for example. It’ll take some time but you’ll be able to train your eye to pick up on these things.

Another thing that’s really important is just finding a good blending brush, and then blending like your life depends on it. This was hard for me for a little while, since I’m using the completely free version of FireAlpaca, but I was able to find a technique that works for me. I paint color with the basic pen brush, and then use Mix 2 to blend (not Mix 1, they act differently). I use the Blend brush to smooth things out if needed, to get rid of the strokes (though sometimes these can fit a texture really well, like hair).

Again, sorry for not having any specific material, but I’m sure you can find some tutorials and stuff pretty easily that’ll explain this much better than me lol. Still hope this was at least minutely helpful though :))

otp: I'm not really passionate about any ASOIAF ship at the moment, and I don't think I was back when reading the books and watching the show either (which was quite a long time ago, I'm really racking my brain here), but there used to be some ships I found interesting - Sansa/Margaery, despite the latter kind of (if I remember correctly) manipulating the former (but then again, who in King's Landing wasn't manipulating someone else), and Sandor/Sansa - no actual relationship, no getting together when she's older or anything, just two people romanticizing/fixating on the interactions they had to the point of persuading themselves it was something more (like when Sansa ended up believing he kissed her while he actually didn't). I found that fascinating. Also, Jaime/Brienne has always made a lot of sense to me, their relationship seems like an important thing for the development of both characters.

favourite canon pairing: I remember really liking Jon/Ygritte when reading the books/watching the show and crying when she died (must've been the only time I cried while reading ASOIAF). I also remember liking to imagine how the arranged marriage of Alys Karstark and Sigorn might turn out to be actually okay based on what little of them we saw in the books. Oh, and Sam/Gilly, they're cute.

worst pairing ever: honestly, at this point I do not have ASOIAF on my mind enough to actively dislike any ship. I've heard that show!Jon/Daenerys turned out to be a disaster, but I had long stopped watching the show by that point, so I don't really have an informed opinion on that.

guilty pleasure pairing: don't have any in the sense of feeling bad for shipping it, but perhaps Davos/Stannis fits the bill a little bit - while there's certainly a lot to be said regarding their relationship in canon/in the platonic sense, in the romantic sense I don't really take it seriously, but still kind of enjoy it for shits and giggles. Literally the only ASOIAF fic I've read that has stayed with me enough to revisit it years later is an extremely funny retelling of the classic Soviet comedy Office Romance (1977) with Stavos as the main couple

a pairing you want to see more: perhaps Sigorn/Alys as well? In general, it's not the ships I want to see more of - just give me the damn next book and let me find out what happens to all these characters.

that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Rhaegar/Lyanna, I guess. It had an objectively big and important impact on the plot, but the relationship itself isn't interesting to me. I'm not sure the "everyone likes" part is still applicable, but I remember it being quite a popular ship in the past.  

favorite non-romantic pair: Sansa and Arya (as well as all Stark kids with each other in general), Jon and Sam, Jaime and Tyrion, the Sand Snakes and Arianne
