#fnaf 3 is my favourite game how could you tell?
Okay, babz, we're talking about Springtrap and evil purple men today.
I know FNAF has veered off into its own sci-fi saga, but as someone who has been enjoying these games pretty much since their initial release in the early-to-mid-2010s (Number 1 being in 2014- thank you to @plantainsame for the info in the replies :)), I am not really feeling this direction. Now, I know Scott is a sci-fi man, and I know there are people out there who are enjoying the way this franchise is heading, and all I can say is... Good for you, guys! Go on and enjoy it! Whilst it may not be for me, you are very welcome to enjoy the whimsical chaos that is 'The Adventures of Peepaw Afton and his Refusal To Die (lol).'
However, my personal headcanon is that FNAF 3 is the ending. I think I enjoyed FNAF most when it was more barebones, pretty much no names and no faces, bar the uncanny ones of the pizzeria mascots. I just love the ironic ending the killer has. The ghosts get their ultimate revenge: having the antagonist get a taste of his own medicine, feeling the pain and torture they have felt for all these years. And when you come along to help start Fazbear Frights, you become a witness to his punishment: his purgatory. He's helpless as a babe, slumped against the wall of a storage room, having previously been shut away for many years. When he is found and supposedly unleashed, he doesn't taste freedom. The killer is forced to wander throughout the halls, fighting the animatronic's will to hurry after childish giggles and failing (as shown by the player's ability to hinder Springtrap by distracting him with Balloon Boy's laughter).
I remember, way back when, watching a Dawko video where he showed an unscramble version of Springtrap's audio (can't remember if it was just a scrapped audio file or his jumpscare sound) and you could hear "help me". He's been trapped here for so long, he's practically no longer a vicious killer... the man has been stripped away to his bare bones, literally and figuratively. The antagonist is no different to the children he slaughtered, aimlessly trudging down the halls like a lost kid, looking for someone, anyone, to come and find him. Essentially, Springtrap is a lost child at a supermarket looking for his mummy, he just wants to see a human face and hear a human voice, something to break the monotony and loneliness of existing in an empty metal shell trapped within the confines of a ruined pizza place.
It's poetic. It rhymes. He gets the ultimate comeuppance. That's where I think FNAF should end.
I didn't really care for named characters or backstories because, for me, I really felt the horror from the fact that there was so little context. It made the events of the game feel like they could happen in real life, anywhere and to anyone. It grounded the horror; as well as making the story straightforward enough to avoid plot holes, contradictions, and/ or a timeline that winds around like spaghetti... I won't even delve into the madness that is timetravelling ballpits and giving birth to a baby springbonnie like it's a chestburster from Alien????
Anways, I digress. Basically, there are no names, no faces and only mystery. No Afton. Just Purple Guy. He was just a man. You didn't know why he did what he did and you didn't know what he wanted to do with you in FNAF 3. What you did know, however, was to save the the theorising for after the shift because he screamed danger.
I think my favourite interpretation of Springtrap has to be 'Springtrap and Deliah'. It's clear the guy is craving human connection after being holed up in b-tech Chuck. E. Cheese for decades, and you almost feel bad for him... until you remember this man killed and he could do it again. He's not a good person, even though he's trying to be... that man is dangerous and him doing little about the danger he poses to Deliah, and everyone around him is only making it worse. He's selfish. He wants Deliah for himself. This care he shows for Deliah may come from a place of wanting to be better, but it's being done from a place of greed and possessiveness. He controls Deliah like he controlled those kids' lives, as shown by him ending them prematurely. And that's terrifying. Springtrap in this comic deceives you into thinking he's a harmless, lonely man when in reality he could very well slaughter someone and not think twice if it means keeping Deliah to himself.
That is who Springtrap is to me. A miserable, lonely man who is craving human interaction, but can't escape the consequences of his actions. He did what he did, and whether we feel bad for him or not, he's getting punishment for it. Springtrap is purgatory.

Something I hope Matthew Lillard hears and can understand someday:
I am 20 years old. Fnaf 1 came out 9 years ago. Fnaf 2 was the first time we saw Purple Guy. That was just a few months after fnaf 1. From that day I was HOOKED on purple guy, who eventually was named as William Afton.
For nearly half my life, I learned more and more about this guy, about his character, how important he was to this incredible story. Horrifying, but incredible.
The movie was first announced in 2015, just after the first 3-4 games, the 3rd of which William (Springtrap) was the main antagonist.
He was everything.
And he never had a face.
So now in 2023 we finally have the movie. He finally has a face. An actual, human, face.
Before that point all my love for William had nowhere to go but various inconsistent interpretations by fellow artists of what he might look like. And that was fine, there was a lot of love to spread. But now Matthew Lillard has been cast, and his face is synonymous with William, and all that adoration which has seen me personally through some very bad times, has somewhere to focus on. And let me tell you, if it were energy, I could power entire continents.
And I'm just one person. I have all this love and gratitude to offer this portrayal, and I'm one of millions out there.
I'm not good enough with words to say how important that is, and how much gratitude I have for this guy. I have a mess of words and jumbled feelings and borrowed phrases all tied together with purple ribbon to offer to Matthew Lillard in a raging ocean of love.
William Afton has been my favourite for such a long time. My TOP top dog of all fictional killers. And of course 8-9 years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, but to me thats all I can remember. I was 11 back then and now I'm twenty and I'm still here, with all this love.
So thank you Scott for making him, and thank you Matthew Fucking Lillard for bringing him to life.

I love your fnaf stuff so much! And I'm very sorry if you've already covered most of this, but like- any more details on Michael post-scooping? Idc whether that be how to fits in publicly (if even possibly lol), relationships he builds, his mentality, or just important events you planned for him after the scooping! Idc if it's even an AU you have, I just love how you write Michael and would love to hear more of anything! :)
cracks my fucking knuckles oh BABEY ok this is going under a read more because i know damn well this is gonna be multiple paragraphs long. Ty anon, michael afton is my favourite topic ever
Okay so, something important to note here is that even if I choose to ignore all of Dittophobia, my au still does have Sister Location occurring after FNAF 1 - Specifically late December, so like. A month after fnaf 1. It ALSO coincides with the fnaf 3 minigames that lead up to William's death. That's a longass discussion all in itself tho so I'll probably make a follow up post on that if requested
But! Post-Scoop Mike! During the time period of Ennard inhabiting his body he was essentially unconscious for the entire ordeal. Like. Yknow how majority of the ghosts are kinda lacking some level of awareness while in the suits? Yeah. Michael doesn't really remember it, but he still remembers the time passing, so it's not just. Like. Dying on the scooping room floor, then BAM! Alive on the sidewalk. It's sorta like. Yknow those movie/show/game cutscenes where everything's vague and blurry and slow-motion and the audio is funky. Like that
When he DID get his body back, for a few minutes it was sorta like. He was back to full awareness. Noticed he could see things, and that his limbs felt heavy, and that he could hear a mix of ringing and the "You won't die" line and flies buzzing around him. The sunlight felt too bright. You know when you take one of those naps that severely fucks you up, and because of that you wake up half-numb, dizzy, and disoriented? Now imagine that but a million times worse. He's in pain everywhere, his senses are readjusting, he knows he shouldn't be able to see or hear or speak but he can do those things anyway. And he can tell that despite it being a bright, sunny day, no one's coming to his aid. So he forces himself up and painfully stumbles home.
Now, well my timeline of events between SL and 3 is a bit vague, I do have the important stuff down. He gets home, and despite not having been allowed to contact his mom since late '86 (this is important and relevant guys i prommy) and having been told she was dead, he called her anyway. Long story short, one phone call later and also lots of general, messy emotional stuff, Michael. Left the state of Utah as a whole and went and lived with his mom over in California. Because of the whole being dead thing, he did kinda unfortunately sever ties with Jeremy and Henry (aka the only two living people left he even spoke to, besides William but he's a week dead by now), but like. He wasn't really sure how he could approach those situations. A guy who's lost a bunch of cognitive and motor abilities, and a man who fell into a deep depression after his daughter's death. Michael kinda saw telling them as like. I dont really have the word for it, but he saw abandonment as the better option. Figured it'd hurt them less
When it came to fitting into public, it was essentially the same as how he blends in during fnaf 6, just with MUCH darker clothes. He likely did hide away for a while, refusing to go outside, but started slowly readjusting. He didn’t make any bonds while there (unless his mom’s adoptive parents count), mostly keeping to himself. He worked, but it was always nightshift jobs where no one else would be around.
Luckily, his hygiene has gotten MUCH better! Due to being a rotten corpse, he tends to start smelling bad and being a general safety hazard rather quickly, so typically he’ll do a thorough shower in the morning, and then another quick shower at night, just to be safe. And also he wears perfume, to avoid a smell building up. Just to be safe.
About 10 years (ish. I picked a general number so I didn’t have to pinpoint exact timing) into his 30 year disappearance, his mom does unfortunately pass. Lung cancer, turns out smoking a shit ton out of grief is a bad idea. Better than the murders, probably. It was very much so a rough time for Mike, given being in and out of a hospital (bad memories from Evan’s death and Jeremy’s near-death kept him in a constant state of anxiety during this time, not to mention those events already made him plenty anxious, paranoid, and overall jumpy when in hospitals) and then the eventual death. That’s when his goal to hunt down his dad kinda went into full swing. Because, well, that last sorta tether just snapped, so now he’s far more goal oriented.
It was probably full of him following small leads. Contacting some distant relatives of his, contacting his father’s old business partners - he kinda tried to procrastinate going back to Utah (specifically Hurricane) for as long as possible. But then news about Fazbear Frights came around, and the return kiiiinda became inevitable. Because unfortunately, it was a damn good lead. Also, once again, Michael remains friendless in this time. Outside of any possible employers or the people he contacted, he hasn’t actually properly, freely spoken to anyone since his mom or grandparents. And he kinda cut ties with his grandparents out of guilt after his mom passed.
And Fazbear Frights is. Interesting! Because as he’s used to, he has to go in to meet his employer! But what he’s not used to is seeing his estranged kinda-cousin-kinda-brother whom he hasn’t seen since they were, like, 14. Aka Sammy. It’s an incredibly awkward experience all around, despite them both having somewhat similar goals. They agree to pretend not to know each other.
Work goes, well, as it pretty much does in game. Nothing special. Probably some panic and resurfacing trauma on night 2. Anyways the fire! That’s the important part!
As one would expect, Michael was quick to get out of the fire. Wasn’t exactly hard to set it - the place is old and dirty and fucking *moldy* - he just tossed a half-smoked cigarette at some loose oil or something and the bitch was ablaze.
William (slash springtrap but im just saying william for simplicity’s sake) caught him in one of the hallways. And had the fucking *audacity* to try and plead with Michael to help him out of the building. And the kicker is that if it weren’t for survival instincts kicking in and causing Michael to topple William over and crush Will’s arm with an arcade machine to keep him down long enough for a quick escape, it would’ve worked. Michael is. Uh. Very emotionally and mentally vulnerable.
A couple years pass after that, before a new Freddy’s place opens, needing someone to run it. Michael does have experience business-wise thanks to watching and learning from his dad as a kid, so it couldn’t be *that* hard, right? He applied under a fake name, got himself all disguised and whatnot, and headed in!
Michael Afton’s Emily Family Reunion Counter: 2
It did take a few minutes for the recognition to actually happen. But. Yeah it was a lil awkward. Considering Michael’s very silent and very sudden exit 32 years ago. Oh yeah also i have fnaf 6 taking place over more than just a week, stretches out from about 2025-2026. No specifics, just a general span of time. Feels more realistic to me, idk. I get the 1 week thing for gameplay/continuity reasons, but hey! This is just an au! I can do whatever shit I please!
And Iiii! Still need to actually flesh out the fnaf 6 stuff beyond my silly lil jokes. Uhh, I think majority of the stuff gets covered here? Feel free to ask further questions on anything, im more than happy to talk about it :-)

I saw this 20 questions for fic writers thing on my dash, so I'm doing it now that I'm back to my computer! Also expect writing to return soon, lol
1. How many works do you have on A03?
I currently have 9 works on Ao3! That number would be way higher if I posted all the fics I wrote on Tumblr to Ao3 though.
2. What's your total A03 word count?
Total.... hang on, I need a calculator for this one.
271,112 words! I thought it would be higher, tbh. But again, I don't post everything to Ao3, so that's just a fraction of my writing.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I write for Five Nights at Freddy's (the games) and Hollow Knight. I do also write for other stuff, but I don't post it, so that's not important.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Misguided Protection
There Are Others
Finding a Home
Deal with the Devil
Becoming a Family
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try my best to respond to comments. Typically it'll be an emoji response, mainly to acknowledge my readers when they get all excited. But sometimes people have suggestions or questions, and I feel that if I wrote something confusing, it's my job to explain what's going on (only for fanfiction though. Since I don't revise it before I post)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm.... Probably There Are Others, since I at least tried to give most of them happy endings. But this fic is the reason my friends keep a kill count.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Misguided Protection
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really? It's more that people challenge my view and how I chose to write the story, but I've never gotten outright hate before.
9. Do you write smut?
I don't post it, but yeah.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Within the same fandom. I write crossovers of different AUs within the same fandom, but I do not write crossovers between fandoms. Not currently, at least.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, but it never saw the light of day (it was a minecraft fic I co-wrote with someone in elementary school)
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
All-time? Uhhhh, I've determined that gay ships are absolutely my favorite thing ever. So my favorite is probably one of those. But it changes depending on fandom fixations honestly. Buuuuut, outside of fandom logistics, I'd still say Jeremike. Even though it's a silly one. I just love how people write that ship.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a giant incomplete folder of fnaf fics that I've started writing, but they haven't seen the light of day. Which means I've forgotten a bunch of stuff within that. But truth be told, I do want to continue writing Becoming a Family, even though I don't think I'll ever touch it again. My flow just never seems to be in the right place when I try to work on it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm good at silly banter and dialogue in general.
I'm pretty good at adapting to sudden challenges in my writing (aka, plotholes that I've already posted) to still justify things happening as well. But not nearly as good as I am at dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm terrible at writing descriptions. I'll never forget the day I realized my friends genuinely thought my OC Mikayla was tall, despite how much I tried to write her as short. I usually don't write with physical characteristics in mind, so that used to be my justification, but since i had a clear picture in mind and it did not come across properly, I have to say descriptions are my weakness.
I'd also say romance, but my friends tell me I'm better than I think I am.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I stress out about that sort of thing. I wrote in Spanish for an art trade once (dialogue only, of course), and I made my friends fact-check every sentence to ensure it sounded natural. I could do it, but it's not really something I enjoy.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
MCYT. It was a different group of people back then, but that notebook is still sitting in my house, and I still get embarassed just thinking about it.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
My favorite? Honestly, it's one I'm writing right now. It's a fnaf fic, but I haven't posted much about it yet. It's called Runaway Mike, and I'm super excited about how it's turning out so far. Probably not one I'll post for a while yet.

The Crying Child witnessed Charolette Emily's Death (a theory) Part 2.
Continuing with my theory, there is one thing that needs to be mentioned. When fans were figuring out what the Crying child witnessed that made so distress. The biggest one is that he witnessed the death of his sister Elizabeth. While yes, seeing your sibling being killed right in front of you is traumatising. We know that Circus Baby's Pizza World was openly opened in one day. With him saying the four animatronics plushies are his friends and the fact that he keeps going back to the Pizzeria itself. It makes sense that It is FredBear's Family Diner that he has a problem with. The reason why, he goes there it's because that where his dad, William Afton to get away from his older brother Michael Afton who keeps making things worse for him.
Tumblr media
With the missing Children taking place in 1985, it only make sense that the crying child witnessed Charlie's death rather then anyone else's. Another thing to note that the the crying child's favourite ride was the Carousel, the first and only time we see a caurosel up until FNAF Help Wanted 2 is in FNAF 2 where it's located near Balloon Boy, Scott Cawthon said that Nightmare Balloon Boy is Canon which the rest of the other Halloween animatronics are not, however I do think Nightmarrione whom is nightmare version of the puppet could be know seen as Canon. Another thing I believe that the Crying Child may have seen the death of Charlie is because how connected they are. Let's start with the fact that their father were co-owners of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and FredBear's Family Diner. Charlie's age could be either close to Elizabeth and the crying child meaning they may have hang out with one and another.
Another thing is that Steel Wool is probably telling us that Charlie's death and The Crying Child's death took place in the same year. During FNAF Help Wanted 2, you have to collect 6 memory plushies. Many of the plushies tend to be found in games where they have some associated with. Bonnie is found in bonk a Bon, you gotta make 4 chica related food and drinks to get chica, foxy is found in the log ride and freddy is found in fazerblast after being the place getting burnt down.
However the puppet and the golden Freddy's whereabouts are opposite to themselves. The Puppet plushie is found in a sister location game where you opened the drawers and type 1983 to get it. I thought that this was strange because the puppet doesn't have any connection to sister location nor the year itself, while the Golden freddy plushie is found in the hard mode in Fizzy Faz Night 3 where the staff bots are replaced by the nightmare Bots that look like nightmarionne. So it would make sense If they switch the puppet plushie and the golden freddy plushie since 1983 has always been associated with the crying child whom passed away at the year and is one of 2 kids whom possessed Golden Freddy. This is steel wool telling us that 1983 is not only the year where the crying child head gets his head crush but it was also the year of Charlie's Death and I believe that midnight motorist show us that.
When it comes to midnight motorist, the one thing I do find interesting is how sympathetic Michael is towards his little brother. Through the Mini game in FNAF 4, Michael and his friends keep scaring him which causes him to breakdown and cry but in the midnight motorist he is telling his dad to leave him alone since he had a rough day. I see this as at one point, Michael sympathetic towards the crying child because they are mourning over the lost of their sister. I think that William Afton used Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria as his hunting ground and in order to keep his youngest son from going to the place. He probably had Michael to scare him so he ends up fearing the place, however the crying child isn't scared of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria but rather he's scared of Fredbear's Family Diner and the he witnessed Charlie's death outside and it traumatised him so bad.

Please inform me, your opinions on the lil guy, the gremlin, Balloon Boy.
Tumblr media
okayokayokay SO. I love him SO much. He is my bouncing baby boy. FNaF 2 is already my favourite game of the series, and he adds to that bc he is quite the unique character in the series.
People dislike him bc he takes their batteries, however, I COUNTER that, by saying that he does not kill you. He COULD kill you, if he wanted to, but he does NOT. He just likes batteries. Maybe Withered Foxy is nice to him so he helps him out, no idea! All I know is he gives you some extra time before Foxy gets you.
ALSO. we cannot forget about his laughs. He is just so happy! His laughing is not the usual creepy laughter like in FNaF 1, no, he just sounds so genuinely excited!! He sounds like a little kid creeping up behind you laughing trying to spook you, but they are unaware you can hear them so you hold back laughter as to not let the kid know you know they are there!!!!
Another thing is that the FNaF 3 Ballon Boy jumpscare was the first time I had ever FREAKED the FUCK out at a jumpscare. PERIOD. I had never had a scare quite like that. I JUMPED. I like THREW my laptop OFF of me. Since he never jumpscares you in 2, I did NOT expect him to do it in 3, so it scared the FUCK out of me, and that was the coolest experience I ever had playing a FNaF game!
Now listen, I have like negative paternal instincts, but BALLOON BOY? I want to RAISE him. I want to take care of him and make sure he has a good life. I want to make him yummy meals he will think back fondly over and I want to take him to and from school. I want to stay up late at night helping him make a diorama for school he decided not to tell me about until 10PM on Sunday the night before it was due. I want to tell him how proud I am of him for trying his hardest and being a wonderful young man. I will spend thousands of dollars a year on cool new flashlights for him and handmade batter-themed things to make him happy.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk

I’m curious how everyone’s year was so please tell me what you favourite ----- from this year was! Answer as many or as few as you want! (Feel free to send this to other people and change it if you want)
Favourite Movie/Show you watched:
Favourite Album you listened to:
Favourite thing you learned:
Favourite book/comic:
Favourite project you completed:
Best impulse purchase?
Funniest joke you heard?
Strangest building you went in?
New food you discovered?
Most memorable conversation?
Prettiest sunset?
Favourite new outfit?
What are you proud of this year?
Favourite Memory from this year:
Anything you would change?
Anything you’re looking forwards to in the new year?
~Gumi
I'm going to try and answer all of these but I can already tell that some of these are going to be difficult:
1. Favorite movie/show
I don't really watch movies out of my own volition and I'm like the one Tumblr user who doesn't watch TV shows (and my memory is bad, so I could also be forgetting something) so my options are very limited:
The FNAF movie (which was laughably terrible)
Stranger than Fiction (a 2006 movie that was just. not good. I didn't like it.)
Rio 2 (a kid sitting next to me for a substantial amount of time was watching it and I could hear the audio)
Out of those options I'd probably have to say the FNAF movie was my favorite because it was bad in a funny way and also recency bias.
2. Favorite Album
My music consumption is almost exclusively video game soundtracks and I haven't really found any games to love the soundtrack of recently anyways so
3. Favorite thing I've learned
I can't think of any one piece of knowledge that stands out as my favorite. I'm just happy to know things tbh
4. Favorite Book/Comic
I read quite a few books (mostly the Warriors series, near the beginning of the year) but my favorite probably still has to be Love and Limerence by Dorothy Tennov. I reread it this year so it counts.
5. Favorite project I completed
Probably this ridiculous 14k word Wings of Fire fanfiction where the world ends tbh. It's kinda very rough, but I had a blast making it.
6. Best impulse purchase
A greenish-blue Hawaiian shirt
7. Funniest joke
Unironically this
youtube
Leave the poor woman alone :(
8. Strangest building
Probably the church I took those photos in tbh. I get that it's not that strange overall but it was for me
9. Best new food
I can't think of any new food, but I did discover that French fries and (to an admittedly lesser degree) saltine crackers make surprisingly good additions to toppings and/or fillings.
10. Most memorable conversation
This one's memorable in a bad way.
Essentially, it was a conversation between myself and a friend about a Minecraft server we were on where said friend told me that I managed to piss off every single other member of the server. Of course I was a bit distraught about this, and I decided that I just wouldn't play on it anymore. Before that I was basically the most active member by far.
The reason I remember it so well is because I'm still so baffled about why what I did (kill the Ender Dragon on the first day of a new world (after rules regarding doing so were specifically abolished) and kill the Wither like a week later) enraged these people so much that they called for my friend to ban me (he didn't, btw).
11. Prettiest sunset
All of them. Unless I'm trying to go west and the sun is shining in my eyes.
12. Favorite new outfit
The Hawaiian shirt I mentioned previously.
13. Things I'm proud of
Here's a list, not in any sort of order:
Writing that fanfic I mentioned earlier
Figuring out Tumblr API stuff so I could improve @postsofbabel. And I guess it in general.
My progress on a new fanfic set in the Warriors world, where being sold to 1D is a major plot point.
Surviving, tbh
14. Favorite memory
uh
15. Anything I would change
I would change a lot about 2023, but I simply do not think I would have the ability enact a lot of these changes if I could go back through this year again.
16. Anything I'm looking forward to
World of Goo 2. Probably more that I can't think of at the moment but World of Goo is excellent

Peril (WOF)
I like both Nonbinary She/They Peril and Mtf She/Her Peril
They're both such good concepts
She's a lesbian, Harold
She only had a crush on Clay bc he was pretty much everything she was supposed to like in a guy
Gimme a moment while I force all my mental disorders onto this poor child
Autistic, Anxiety (Social anxiety, mainly, but she has most types), Adhd, PTSD
I'd like to reiterate yet again that She's a lesbian
Sunny and Glory were her gay awakening
Peril in Book 1: Damn, Sunny and Glory sure are pretty. Anyone would be lucky to date them. Clay would probably go for them over me. He would be stupid if he didn't. I myself would willingly date them over someone like me. They're just so pretty :(
Peril waking up in a cold sweat in the middle of arc 2: WAIT-
Rarepair alert but Peril/Sora
Peril meeting Sora: "Hmmm She's attractive. I would love to date her. Too bad I'm straight and in love with her brother lmao :P"
Peril, a mere month later, waiting for Ruby to leave Jade Mountain, pacing in her cave, running face first into a wall: WAIT-
I remember reading this one amazing story where Sora taught Peril to read/write and Peril found out she set off the bomb and comforted her/convinced her her run so that's canon now
Btw if anyone can remember what that story was called/what platform it was on and could tell me I'd appreciate it very much
I'd even be willing to draw a character of your's or make you an icon or something
I usually don't accept requests bc I get burnt out easy but this is a special case
She runs into Sora again sometime between the beginning of TOP and the end
I like to imagine she just goes wandering around
Anyway she confesses like a mere few minutes after running into her again bc Peril is just subtle like that
The actual confession takes 15 minutes and the entire time Sora is just sitting here like "👁👄👁 sure"
Bam Peril/Sora
Peril plans to keep it a secret for a little while longer but she spends 3 seconds around Clay and pretty much blurts it out
Clay, who wasn't even aware that Peril was a lesbian, is just "👁👄👁"
I wanna say Clay doesn't know what a lesbian is but in my canon Sunny is a lesbian so Starflight has already told him
Anyway he's super supportive
From that point Peril is sorta open about her sexuality?
Like, she gives Clay permission to tell the rest of the D.O.D bc she isn't about to risk being in front of them when they hear the news
(When Sunny starts actively seeking her out as a hang out buddy and Tsunami, Glory, and Starflight appear to tolerate her presence just a bit more afterwards she pretends she isn't confused by the change)
She's pink, white, and blue bc I said so
If you look at a certain angle in the right lighting her eyes, mouth, fire, and under her scales all look purple
But her fire is normally white and blue bc I said so
Also she pale as fuck bc in my canon their fire just sorta burns their colour away
You know how you leave something outside for too long and it gets sunbleached? Where it gets all washed out?
Like that but more extreme
By the age of 10-12 firescale dragons are just white with pale eyes
That's right not even the eyes are safe
Ram horns :P
I'm also fond of Peril/Sunny
Or maybe Peril/Sora/Sunny
But Peril/Sora is the main thing
On the topic of that bringing in my hc that if one sib in a sib group is fire resistant all of them are
She,,, She can change her scale colour
But only slightly and only if her emotions are strong enough
Bc I don't give a fuck about Darkstalker's scroll we were robbed of hybrid Peril
Unfortunately all of Peril's emotions are strong
Rainwing ruff along her head and neck
It's like a hood
It's mainly smoothed to her sides but when she's startled it flares out
RAINWING PUPILS
Y'all will know what those look like as soon as I get off my ass :P
She,,, She can mimic bird cries
Hates the summer
She has more than enough body heat already and the outside is just hot enough to add on and make her feel sick
She can somewhat control her heat but most of the time it's based on her emotions
It can go from standing-in-the-middle-of-a-burning-building-cant-see-your-nose-smoke-is-so-thick heat (Strong emotion) to Hey-thats-a-nice-cozy-campfire heat (Calm/"weak" emotion/Sleeping)
I'm just gonna make a different post with all my Peril hcs cuz there isnt enough room for all of them here

I Like Video Games
I really like video games, not very surprising considering my age, even if anyone can play games regardless of their age.
What games do I like you didn't ask? I'll tell you!
My favourite game of all time is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Basically everything about this game is perfection, I can't even say much more than that. Afterbirth was a stellar follow-up, even if I have my own problems with Afterbirth+. Repentence still looks really cool though.
Other than that, I'm a huge fighting game fan. My actual skill aside, my favourite fighting games include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, Blazblue Central Fiction, and DragonBall FighterZ. I play a lot more, but these immediately spring to mind.
I'm also a big Nintendo fan, have been for my whole life. I like most of the well-known stuff, but my favourite Nintendo franchise is actually Pikmin. I also have a special fondness for the Mario Maker games.
More recently, I've started playing the Danganronpa games (currently starting V3), the Hotline Miami games, DOOM 2016 and a few others.
Old simulation games are somewhat of a passion of mine, hence my borderline STAN OBSESSION with Zoo Tycoon 2 and its expansions, and who could forget Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. A newer simulation gem is Stardew Valley, which I like to play on the rare ocassion that I feel stressed.
I love survival games as well, more specifically Minecraft and Don't Starve. They don't make enough great ones, in my opinion.
What systems do I play these games on? My main systems are a Nintendo Switch and a PS4, but I also have a crummy laptop that I use for the aforementioned old sim games, Team Fortress 2 and Five Nights a-
I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT FNAF
My vote for the most underappreciated franchise, I adore the Five Nights at Freddy's games (all, uh, 8 of them...). They're gems in the rough and have been somewhat left in the dust due to the common conception of a "toxic" or "cringe" fanbase. First of all, grow up you cringe-culture baby, and secondly, I find it petty how the fandom surrounding something can so permanently damage its reputation. The games aren't even scary when you've played them for as long as I have, they're just genuinely fun and engaging experiences.
That about sums it up. I've played and still play mountains more, obviously, but I don't want my friend Nat to spend an hour and a half scrolling down to get past this post on her feed.
Stay Optimistic,
See ya.

Darkiplier in 2017: An In-Depth Look (Part 4)
(Memory a little rusty? Read Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 before going forward.)
"Well, I've got a news flash for you, brain trust. That's not how it works. You die, and a demon sets up shop in your old house, and it walks, and it talks, and it remembers your life... but it's not you."
- Buffy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2x07: "Lie to Me")
Tumblr media
So, here it is: the long-awaited final installment of my Darkiplier in 2017 essay.
Remember when I said anything could happen for the remainder of 2017? Well, it basically did. The final quarter of the year brought with it an explosive finale... that is to say, a fascinating origin story.
But we'll get to that in a moment.
Prior to the events of October and following in the wake of the Darkiplier vs. Antisepticeye vid, we were given quite a few bits, bobs and teasers of the horror to come.
In the second Try Not to Smile Challenge, our favourite Youtuber remarked that "I've turned my heart into a stone-cold ice cube of death. All joy has been purged from me in every way possible, and I have no smiles left for anybody." Then he added, with his usual sardonic humour, "It's #smilenever up in this bitch." He promptly spent the remainder of the video looking like he was in agonizing pain from the human experiences he was observing (and intermittently groaning and growling from his frustrated attempts at self-restraint).
A deceptively simple game titled V appeared on Mark's channel in September, and included a seizure warning as a result of its visual style... a style reminiscent of Dark's attention-grabbing, almost painful aura. Chook and Sosig: A Case of Murder is a quirky little diversion that follows a ghost chicken and a noodly-limbed cat as they solve the mysterious death of a popular entertainer (a writer, in this case). Another strange little vid, this time an animation of Mark's Firewatch playthrough, was also released. Though the dialogue is actually taken from a game that had been played a year prior, Forrest Byrnes' lines about death lying in wait and being unable to leave are also oddly fitting.
The artistic black-and-white game I woke up next to you again. contained themes that, upon reflection, are consistent with the overall narrative of Darkiplier's character. Its story is of an attractive, enigmatic stranger (whose appearance is occasionally marred by a subtle glitch effect) seduces you, slowly drains you of your life and ambitions, until you are left an obsessive and hollow husk of yourself. Interpretations vary on what the story of "I woke up..."  means (including that it might be a metaphor for drug addiction), but the real meaning is left intentionally vague by the programmer. The being your character is faced with might very well be a soul-devouring demon, for all one knows... especially given that the "girl" in question doesn't appear in the picture you show of her to a friend.
Following the events in early October, Mark joked during his play-through of The Evil Within 2 that the force-feeding mother was "speaking in multiple voices... a clear sign that that might be Darkiplier over there. I think she turned grey when the lighting changed..." (a clear reference to the insanity the fandom was gripped by earlier in the month). In a later episode, Mark eyeballs the rather dapper villain Stefano bathed in dim, moody lighting and quips, "Friggin' Darkiplier up in here."
The rather silly nyoom vid, created to promote Mark's new merch line of holographic M shirts, features the same distorted RGB effect we've become familiar with in Dark's appearances... although this time, it's all a bit of harmless fun with Chica set to a dubstep soundtrack. In Constellation, Mark jokes to "run away!" from the 3D effect the game offers, before conjuring what he dubs a "Darkiplier teapot".
During the Emily Wants To Play Too livestream, Mark comments that the "Let Her In :)" note left on the dry erase board is "some Darkiplier-level shit," adding that everyone now knows what happened with Damien and Celine, and later jokes that the tall stranger looks "dapper... in his suit... y'know that guy's lookin' a little grey. His skin turns grey; I think it's Darkiplier." He's unable to contain his mirth, however, and giggles a bit as he talks.
The vid ...Bonbon Loves You... offers an unsettling description of its events, where the bunny-shaped demonic imaginary friend provides his constant companionship... for a price. "You can never escape! You'll never need to escape! YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE A FRIEND FOREVER!!" Prison Island likewise has a chilling description of its own, of a mystery that's been covered up and that "something terrible has been going on in the shadows and it's come back to haunt you..." The title for the vid of the game Deathlike Awakening also warns us "Don't move... don't breathe..."
There was also the short song “The Man With No Shadow”, a brief acoustic piece which had strange and surreal lyrics in honour of the solar eclipse.
My personal favourite of these teasers, however, has to be the easter egg contained in the finale of Mark's Popgoes play-through. Mark appears distracted as he hears a disturbance in his IRL vicinity, and he removes his headphones to stare out to his left (presumably where the door is). A voice that sounds similar to Wilford Warfstache declares offscreen, "Don't you worry!" Another voice, sounding suspiciously like Darkiplier Himself sneers in a somewhat muted rejoinder, "I'll get you." Mark stands motionless as the webcam view briefly warps, before the recording continues as if absolutely nothing happened.
But of course, this all pales in comparison to Who Killed Markiplier?, the four-part miniseries Mark created on a limited budget that's arguably his magnum opus. There's a reason it took me more than a year to write this part of the essay, and this taut 43-minute film is the reason why. It made me love characters I'd never met before, and even though I had a sickening feeling in my stomach as to their fates. Even knowing the monster Damien would become, and how broken William's psyche would be... I was still woefully unprepared for the onslaught of emotion I felt by the finale.
WKM has been analysed from every angle by the fandom at large, so I'm going to focus on providing a brief recap here.
Tumblr media
We, as the viewpoint character of the District Attorney, are invited to Markiplier Manor for poker night. We're greeted by the Colonel and hand our invitation over to the Butler, before having a brief conversation with Damien, the newly-elected mayor. The chef warns us to stay out of his kitchen as the butler offers us a drink. Markiplier (well, this universe's version of him, anyway) descends the staircase and the night of drunken revelry begins.
The following morning, we're offered a seltzer with cocaine as a hangover aid by the butler (cocaine was a fairly common ingredient in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including in children's cough medicine), and Damien greets us. We wander aimlessly around the house, and are startled by the falling body of the newly deceased Markiplier. The detective, who'd also been invited the night before, proceeds to question the party-goers and examine the body. The mayor enters the scene and, showing his capabilities as a calming influence, asks for any information that can be gleaned. Damien then exits, ostensibly to talk to the Colonel, and clearly more disturbed by the events than he's previously let on.
The DA is drafted in as the detective's partner, and we overhear an argument between the Mayor and the Colonel. Damien angrily storms out, and we take the opportunity to discuss the matter with the Colonel. He promptly tells us a story about what he thinks happened, laying it on rather thick in the process and leaving no question as to his hostility towards their deceased host.
The Butler leads us down into the wine cellar, before having a nervous breakdown about a broken bottle in the middle of the otherwise pristine floor. We go back up the stairs an are confronted by the Chef who, after some tough talk, offers some recorded (FNAF-style) footage of Markiplier and the Detective discussing the house's employees some nights prior. We then exit the house, and talk to Damien some more about his confrontation with the Colonel. Damien feels lost amid these events at the moment and has retreated to ponder matters for himself. We're soon called back in by the Detective to discover that Mark's body has now vanished.
The cast of characters reconvene in the room where the body was to discuss this turn of events, and the Colonel points out that there's a "storm" coming. The Butler and the Chef resolve to lock the building down, with no one getting in or out, until the matter is resolved. The Detective takes us up, down and around the inside of the house until we eventually get to the master bedroom.
The bedroom is a mess, but we find three pictures of Mark, Damien, the Colonel... and Mark's ex-wife, Celine. The Colonel talks with us about his relationship with Damien (which is more positive than his relationship with Mark). Damien briefly pops in looking for the Colonel, but just misses him... twice. Damien then pulls us aside, saying that he'd "stake [his] life" on the Colonel's innocence, and that he suspects that there's  another "guest" in the house no one knows about.
There's a sudden round of gunfire, and we rush in with Damien to find that the Detective and the Colonel are at a standoff. Then Celine barges in.
Everyone quickly catches her up on the events that have occurred thus far, and Celine points out that the lightning strikes indicate something supernatural is afoot. Celine proposes a séance to talk with the deceased Mark. After Damien reaches out in concern for her dabbling in witchcraft and she rebuffs him, Celine takes us with her to a quieter room where she reads the tarot and reveals that there are "dark forces" at work inside the manor. Her magickal influence enables us to go through time, seeing alternate events and getting a hint of what's to come.
But the answers we find aren't enough to satisfy her, and she grows angry with us, demanding that we "go back" into our visions. Damien and the Detective interrupt, with Damien putting a stop to the séance and the Detective dragging us away as Damien and Celine argue. The Detective shows the picture we've drawn to the Butler and the Chef, and it's revealed that the Groundskeeper (who hasn't set foot inside the house in over a decade) might know something.
Damien goes with Celine back into the séance room, while the Butler goes to find the Colonel. We, the Detective and the Chef go to talk to the Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper resolves not to go in the house unless there's one specific "incident, one manifestation" that comes to pass.
There's a flash of light and the sound of thunder, and everyone rushes back into the house to reveal that Damien is gone and Celine is now possessed by a demon... the demon who's been lurking in the house the entire time, and who's aura is a familiar red and blue hue.
Most of the group decides to exit the house while they still can, with the exceptions of the Detective, the Colonel and the DA (ie. us). The Detective and the Colonel vanish and we're pulled into a darker, shadow version of the house that seems frozen in time and is echoing with the voices of those who fled. The demon of the house releases us from its grip, and we stumble upon the Detective's study... replete with the papers and evidence we weren't privy to before. The Colonel happens upon us in the study and becomes furious, thinking the Detective framed he and his friends.
The two are in a standoff once again, before the Colonel's gun goes off twice... purely by accident. One shot hits Abe. The other hits the DA (us) and we fall over the banister and crash to the floor.
In the space between life and death, we see the images of Damien and Celine. She's glowing red, and he's a soft blue. "Damien" is angry and lost, blaming Mark for what happened. "Celine" concurs, also blaming Mark for the events that transpired... and together they hatch a plan to release themselves from the void and back into the world. (All the while, a deep and demonic voice mockingly echoes their words, as if they are mere puppets.)
Tumblr media
Damien then says these fateful words:
"Honestly, I don't know what the fuck is going on. But I know that I trust Celine. And if you trust us... just let me in. We can fix this. Together."
Celine then adds:
"I won't force this on you. You have a choice here. Just know this is the only way that you can escape."
And because we, the DA, have no real choice in the matter (as if death is a choice!), we agree. The images of Damien and Celine recede as we're driven back to our body. We get up, confused and disoriented with the daylight streaming in, and find the Colonel holding onto Damien's cane like a security blanket during a vigil near our body. And we watch, with growing horror and sadness, as the Colonel's mental state deteriorates. He hobbles away, calling out to the friends who will not and cannot answer him, leaving Damien's cane behind.
We reach out to the cane, with a small feminine hand which changes form into a man's larger hand. Our perspective tilts and it appears to be Damien in the mirror, looking bedraggled and exhausted as he contemplates his cane. He cracks his (broken from the fall) neck and we're thrown into the mirror, it cracking with the force and he storms away, leaving us behind without looking back.
Damien, if that was indeed him at all, is not the man we knew. Not anymore. He's long gone. What remains is made of demonic energy and rage; the demon of the house won. That being is now the one we call Darkiplier.
To lighten the lugubrious mood of the mini-series, Mark simultaneously released four "Jim News" shorts, featuring the Jims wandering through the house in an attempt at investigative reporting (ie. Mark goofing off on set, between takes). The legit bop that is "Fly Like a Butterfly" is another form of relief, that features in its music video scenes from Markiplier Manor and, of course, the handsome as always Darkiplier adorned with massive butterfly wings.
Hints at the expanded universe were also laid during Mark's play-throughs of Doki Doki Literature Club, specifically in the descriptions, which featured poetry based on the lives of the characters in Who Killed Markiplier?. Part 1 features a poem of Wilford Warfstache (hinting at his transformation from the Colonel), the District Attorney in Part 2, the alternate Markiplier in Parts 3 through 5... and what may be the Detective in Part 6 (though Monika's trapping the player in her world and the thumbnail of Sayori with a cracked/broken neck are both reminiscent of Darkiplier).
Likewise, Mark in the description of Party Hard Tycoon hopes to "party hard and hope no murderers show up!" In The Silent House, he says "this house is nothing but pain and suffering and also it can't talk..." The setting of The Sexy Brutale involves time travel to stop a murder at a gathering in a luxurious home. Sleeping Dawn's thumbnail is a dead body with a toe tag of "Y/N" (the typical reader insert fic's notation to insert your name, and the same notation provided on the invitation for the DA).
Markiplier also jokes that the channel isn't real and about being a paid actor during the 7th episode of his Slime Rancher Let's Play. In the otherwise adorable platform game I may die!, he plays a character whose house is surrounded by an empty void... that he promptly falls into.
Arguably however, the linchpin among the latter portion of the year’s hints is the HD Renovation of Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion, where a familiar resonant and echoing voice narrates:
"For as long as you can remember, legends have been told about the derelict mansion upon the hill that casts a blanket of darkness over the town. The history of the house itself is virtually unknown, and even the town’s oldest residents cannot remember the mansion’s origin. Being an avid history enthusiast, you embark up the mountain to visit the manor. Hoping to shed some light on the backstory of this crumbling fortress of darkness."
Sounds familiar, in more ways than one, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
But it doesn't even end there.
Only a few short weeks after the release of the final chapter of Who Killed Markiplier?, Mark released his Van Vlogs. One of these, the World's First Pop-Up Haunted House vlog, hinted that there was something more going on in the beginning, with some ominous music and the static on the van's TV growing louder. What was hinted at finally came to fruition in November. Another van video was released, titled Don't remember. In it, the viewer character has dozed off in the empty van and is woken in the dead of night.
A deep voice faintly says "Do you remember? I said we were going to do great things together. Go back to sleep."
Of course, it was Damien who had hoped that the prospect of working with the DA (the viewer character from Who Killed Markiplier?) would mean great things for the city he was elected to represent. In DoomVR, Mark finds himself trapped between life and death, before reviving and going forth to battle demons. Something which, in light of the events of WKM, doesn't seem too far-fetched now. Additionally, the ending to Part 5 of FNAF's Pizzeria Simulator spells out the words "S-A-V-E H-I-M". In light of possibilities yet to come, it could mean we have to try to save Damien himself.
But that is, as they say, a story for another time.
The description of the finale for Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn asks "Is it the end we really want? Is there a way to prevent the inevitable?" The ending, of course, is a leap of faith followed by the disappointing reality of having been deceived by a demonic trickster, and forced to live through the same events over and over again. It is a revelation reminiscent of the muddled timeline throughout the origin stories of Wilford Warfstache and Darkiplier, two characters who were born years before on the channel, but whose origins did not come to light until the events of Who Killed Markiplier?.
But, I believe, Mark saved the best for last with two sadly coincidental questions on the light-hearted game Would You Rather?. Two days before the end of the year episode 11 of this game was released and, among the game's queries, two particularly heart-wrenching questions were asked.
The first was "Would you rather lose your mind or lose your significant other?" Many have pointed out that both happened to Wilford Warfstache, having lost his mind in the wake of the bloodbath of Who Killed Markiplier? along with his beloved Celine becoming merged with Damien and the demonic entity to become Darkiplier. Mark answers, after weighing the cost of both options, that he’d rather lose his mind than someone he loves.
The second, which he leaves for us, is "Would you rather be stalked by a ghost for the rest of your life, or be stalked by a demon for three days then die?" Of course, the latter actually happened in Who Killed Markiplier?. After the first three episodes, released from October 10th to the 12th, our character (the DA) was shot and fell from a banister on Friday the 13th.
Like in Who Killed Markiplier? itself, we’re left with a question that’s difficult to answer. The biggest of the all the questions anyone can conceive being simply this:
So, what happens now?
