Rare Fossil Reptile Bone in Coprolite Bed Block – Aust Cliff, Upper Triassic UK, Penarth Group, Westbury Formation

Discover a genuine piece of deep-time history with this fossil reptile bone embedded in a block from the famous fish, reptile, and coprolite bed at Aust Cliff, Bristol. This exceptional specimen was recovered from the Westbury Formation of the Penarth Group, dating back to the Upper Triassic Period (~208-201 million years ago). It originates from one of the UK’s most iconic fossil sites, renowned for preserving an extraordinary mix of vertebrate remains in a rich depositional setting.

Your specimen was discovered on 07 April 2025 by our own expert field collectors, Alister and Alison, and meticulously cleaned, prepped, and preserved by Alison. The actual fossil you receive is the one shown in the photos, clearly scaled with a 1cm cube for accurate size reference.

This reptile bone likely belonged to one of the early marine or semi-aquatic reptiles known from the site, such as phytosaurs or early archosaurs, which thrived in estuarine and nearshore environments. The Westbury Formation was deposited in a low-energy marine lagoonal or marginal marine setting, perfect for fossil preservation.

June’s combined plugin result of 25.1% comprised 17.9% full electrics (BEVs), and 7.2% plugin hybrids (PHEVs). These figures compare with 21.6%, 16.1%, and 5.5% in June 2022. Both categories of plugins have grown share at a moderate rate YoY, though PHEVs have done a bit better proportionately.

Looking at unit volumes, BEVs grew a healthy 39.4% YoY, to 31,700 units. PHEVs grew volume by a strong 65.5%, to 12,770 units.

Combined combustion-only share was down to a near record low (43.2%, only December ’22 was lower). Diesel-only vehicles fell in volume by 22.2% YoY, to 6,221 units, and took just 3.5% share of the market(..)

People say I'm too soft sometimes, that I let things slide, wait too long, or give too many second chances. But I don't see it that way.

I think my patience is one of the few things that's kept me steady in a world that's anything but. When the cafe gets busy and the orders stack up and tempers flare, I take a breath. I smile. I keep moving. There's a rhythm to waiting, like the way bread rises, or tea steeps just right. You can’t rush good things. People need time too, as well as space. And someone who won’t give up on them the moment they mess up.

I guess that’s where the kindness comes in.

I don’t really go around calling myself kind, but I notice things. I notice when someone in sad or happy. When they stir there coffee for too long, lost in thought. When they say “I’m fine” but won’t meet your eyes. I’m not great with big, loud gestures- but I’ll remember your order even if you haven’t been in for a few days. I’ll slip an extra cookie into your bag if it looks like you had a rough day.

that’s what I like about myself. That I try to make room for people, even when they’re hard to understand. That I wait. That I care, quietly.
