Sorry but I can't stay silent anymore, these posts are insane
Aang: a kid/genocide survivor lashing out because his best friend and only living link to his people has been stolen. The avatar state (a power he is afraid of) was a response to losing another part of his home, the only person connecting him to his past and eradicated culture
Katara: saw Aang loosing control in the avatar state and CHOSE to be at his side and help him, because she KNOW what's it's like having your loved ones stolen from you, she is hurt from seeing him hurting because she's an empathetic person and she loves him. She's comforting a friend during an emotional crisis.
It's funny because those people are stanning a character who called Katara a peasant and threatened to wipe her village and only were in good terms in the last few episodes. They are stanning a character who was a villain/antagonist for two seasons (and half of season 3) who tried to kill her and her friends over and over again. But that's ok, he suffered and redeemed himself in the last 3 episodes, so it doesn't matter, while everything the abuser/toxic Aang """did""" was beyond forgiveness.
That's the message of Avatar the Last Airbender :)
The way people in this fandom are so unempathetic towards a 12 year old who lost everything is so crazy to me.
These episodes are full of sad moments with a lot of hurt behind it. These are all children (child soldiers also) overwhelmed by moments of severe loss. These children are human and they have flaws.
This is why being a fan of most animated content sucks as their fanbases have the intellectual capacity of a goldfish
sokka trying to get katara to give up on her waterbending bc it could get her killed. and katara refuses to give up and continues to practice anyway. bc sokka and katara represent the survival of both the people and the culture. sokka had the safety of their people thrust upon him by his dad, while katara is the only one in their tribe that can carry the weight of their culture. both are heavy burdens, and they're struggling with their roles bc they're just two kids trying to rebuild in the wake of genocide. but they refuse to give up, bc that's what the story is about.
the whole "the white lotus would be the gaang if aang unfroze early" thing is dumb and makes no sense for multiple reasons (bumi's like 50 years older than everybody else, iroh & piandao & jeong jeong were busy being baby imperialists) but the worst part is that it means everyone's sleeping on the actual most logical early emergence au: hama cracking open the cold boy
According to the Air Nomad records they have, no Air Nomad is born a non bender. Or it at least none of them were before Bumi.
He theorizes that he is his father's punishment for abandoning the world at the beginning of the war. He is the manifestation of his father's shame and the world's pain and abandonment.
This is just a sliver of context, I have been developing cultural lore about all the nations for years. Particularly Air Nomads and the new Avatar books kinda contradict me slightly. I'm just gonna stick to my au. Hope that's okay with you all.
Any way my bumi if you want more of him. For the record you WILL see more of him from me, he IS one of my favorite characters
I'm incredibly disappointed to see Eric Nam being cast as Aang in the upcoming adult atla movie. To have a fucking zionist perform the role of a genocide survivor is just disgusting, i don't even have the words to describe how foul it is.
Also, why is Dante Basco still there? Everyone's gonna sound like an adult except Zuko with his perpetual hormonal teenager voice.
when the bubbly adorable sunshine character sees people they care about get hurt and becomes the most terrifying force of revenge the world has ever seen
Which is an AU about if Aang got out of the iceberg without Katara and Sokka being there, all alone.
İn this AU Aang is a bit more mischiefful and creatue coded, gremlin. He's been all alone for a year by now and he is still scared of all that Avatar thing, having no one to comfort him.
And the gaang (just Katara and Sokka by now) has split up to search for the avatar, some say he was stuck in the spirit realm, some say they are waiting to be waken up, but many don't know that he was just a little boy who could not hold the pressure and lack of confidence in him, made him live outside for a year all alone :((
Like I said, Katara and Sokka are looking for the Avatar because they believe, Aang can save the world. But Aang doesn't.
When Katara finally finds Aang he first tries to hide his secret but gets exposed to her and she is incredibly surprised by how much he is scared, then they lice together for a while, Aang and Katara have so many character developments together.
Yes as you guessed, this is more of a Kataang AU X)
I did so many more Fanarts of this AU and I'm hoping to do more
They got so used to eachother so quickly
Thisss is like a concept art axakbsskcb please I love them so much😭
