i had an open thing on my discord: tell me what d&d class you think i am. i left it open for a while and collected results from people, just out of curiosity.

the answers were interesting in many ways!

the breakdown more or less goes like this, in terms of mentions:

The purpose of this survey is to collect data about the experiences of people who feel sensations of nonhuman body parts, for example, wings or a tail. Some call these supernumerary phantom limbs, phantom shifts, otherlimbs, or astral limbs, though you may have other preferences for the words you use for your own experiences. Who is running this survey and why: The person running this survey is Orion Scribner (they/them), an otherkin/therianthrope who has been making projects about these communities since 2005. I will use the results in my panel at an Internet-based convention later this year (OtherCon 2024), and in other future research projects.

The Alterhumans in Relationships Survey is collecting data on alterhumans and queerplatonic, sexual, and romantic relationships. This survey asks questions about your current and past relationships, and how you feel about relationships and alterhumanity. This survey was made for otherkin, therians, fictionkin, systems, and other people who may call themself alterhuman. But even if you don't use any of those terms, you can take still this survey.

This survey is being organized by Who-is-Page, an alterhuman scholar who has been in the community since 2014. The data collected in this survey will be used for research purposes and may be presented at an online convention (OtherCon 2024) later this year. Just curious what the average level of personal investment in these sorts of things is. Like, how much do people usually get into silly stuff like this their friends ask of them? etc. etc. Which I know, only surveying a small sample on a very specific website means I'm not getting an exact average idea lol, but.. curious nonetheless .. Maybe reblog for bigger sample size but also this is not very serious at all/not worth a call to action gbhjbhjb

Got an email to fill out a survey on the concept of tumblr Premium and related features, and while I'm assuming that I'm not supposed to talk about it too specifically in case some things mentioned in the survey aren't fully implemented, the features listed as possibilities sound pretty solid. Limit increases, monthly benefits (both for the user and as gifts for others), special badges and decorations, etc.

There were no features listed that are already available for free, so they're genuinely looking at offering new features for paid users rather than following in Xitter's footsteps and locking existing features behind a paywall. Likewise, nothing listed would be obtrusive to the current tumblr experience or unfairly favor a paid user over a free user any more than dropping a few bucks on a Blaze already "favors" the person being Blazed. (Which is up for debate, since that whole feature is literally "LOOK AT MY POST, BOY" and is one of the most tumblr things that tumblr has ever done.)

I was extremely leery going into the survey, because "premium" features these days are generally not premium at all, but I'm feeling very positive about the upcoming features now. Overall—and I say this as someone who has worked in webdev and digital marketing, used to pay for icons on LiveJournal for multiple RP accounts, currently pays for ad-free here, and has been doing beta testing for so long I once had the personal email addresses of both the founders of deviantART—it sounds genuinely good! Nothing anyone can't live without, but a good number of fun things that would actually be of interest to the tumblr userbase.

Now I'm just waiting to see how many of the features floated in the survey wind up in the final package, and how much that package is going to cost.

The Pokemon Gen 8 protagonists wouldn’t get along

too tire to put into proper words but basically boils down to Galarian/Sword&Shield protagonist(s) have every thing in the story handed to them in a very literal sense through out the course of the story and that in turn warps their perspective and entitlement (as seen in the shift in dialogue from nervous/confident to cocky/entitled. In a weird way the almost swapped personality aspects with Hop, who started off the game very entitled and arrogant before being humbled/destroyed by Bede’s words before Stow-and-Side.

Meanwhile the Hisuian/Legends Arceus protagonists are forced to work for literally everything they own for the clothes off their back to the roof that houses them to basic medical necessities ONLY for it ALL to be taken away as soon as everything turns south due to their bosses poorly handled but understandable fear. Then when they FINALLY fix everything, they are stabbed in the back by the ONLY person who stood by them- no the only FRIEND they could trust because God decided the protagonist was their specialist little blorbo.

The Galarian Protagonist was celebrated as the sole hero and subsequently treated as near royalty whereas the Hisuian Protagonist was simply EXPECTED to fix everything with varying levels of apprecitation

Something that I really like about Spies Are Forever is talking about the staircase scene with other people.

What does Curt choice means for you? Does it make sense that he shoots? Does it work? Why? Do you think it ends well Curt arc? And what about part 7, do you watch it? Do you think he has moved on? Is it a satisfying ending for you?

And what about Owen. Why did he choose to create the spy surveillance network? Was he brainwashed? Did he hate Curt that much? What did he think when he fall as he was seeing Curt leave? What did his words truly mean at the staircase scene? Would he had been able to shoot Curt? What was his last thought?

And the good thing is that everyone has a different reading. People like spies are forever, but everyone finds an answer that works (or doesn't) for them. I think that's awesome, and that's what art's all about

And I'm absolutely certain there's a lot that I'm missing, too. These are books meant to be reread, and I haven't gotten to that yet. So part of finishing it is being aware there were things that didn't make sense that now would, and knowing just how much there is left to uncover.

Isn't literature fantastic?? Don't you adore storytelling and the art of words? Isn't it incredible what people can do, and how long we've been telling stories?? Don't you want to drown in them forever and for always???
