Peeta Mellark is an integral member of the four D12 victors. He is literally the sunset on the reaping! How is this not clear? I’ve never wanted to report people for bad literary analysis more and I’m only half joking. It has forced me to commit a cardinal sin: analyze in anger!
1. Him being chosen by absolute accident is the point. Not only does he represent every single other tribute who simply gets chosen because they live in a messed up country but he represents how even with some odds being in your favor (older siblings, merchant family, being white, being popular, etc.) you are still very likely to be victimized by the oppressive structure of Panem.
2. When Haymitch says, “But she was smarter than me, or luckier” - the luck is all the people around Katniss who created the circumstances for her to lead a successful revolution (her father teaching her to hunt, the arena having woods, Rue healing her with leaves, Thresh not killing her, Haymitch consistently giving her support, her mother teaching her aspects of medicine, on and on and on) and Peeta is the number one, most important part of her luck in the first book. She has someone in the games actively putting her life before his… are you kidding? There is legitimately no better luck than that.
3. Even if we take Katniss out of it, Peeta is so impactful as a victor because most of his scenes would not be cut/doctored. What’s there to edit out? Instead, the viewers get a full view of him loving a girl so selflessly, using trickery and strategy instead of violence, keeping himself alive through art, joking on literal death’s door, and sharing so much of himself with the audience it becomes harder for them not to see him as a real human boy. How rare do you think that is for the games? Haymitch and LGB are caricatures of themselves in the games, playing roles that flatten them down. Even Katniss becomes one dimensional on screen without Peeta (and Rue, of course). It is also heavily implied that he does not kill anyone during the games (in a straightforward way) and even if you count Cato or the girl from 8 or even foxface, it’s never him hunting them or seeking out a kill - again how rare do you think that is to see on screen for Games viewers?
4. I didn’t think this needed to be said but: Katniss dies without Peeta in the first games. a) she goes for the bow and dies in the bloodbath; b) she is hunted and killed by Careers; c) she is killed by game makers because there’s no love story angle to keep them from just burning her entirely; d) she dies from tracker jacker stings or Cato because Peeta doesn’t defend her or tell her to run… I could go on…
5. But even if she does win and wins alone - the victory means as much (I would argue less than) any other rebellious victor winning, certainly less than Haymitch’s win. The biggest rebellion for their games is that two of them win! This is legit the only thing that distinguishes them from any other sympathetic, kind child who would have won the games. Like if Haymitch or Finnick or Wiress winning isn’t jarring enough for the Games to end… why do you think Katniss killing Peeta and winning solo would be? It would not.
6. And finally, I cannot stress this enough: There is no peaceful end to the rebellion or the trilogy without Peeta. “Peeta’s a whiz with fires” (HG) for a reason! Collins, over and over, shows us how fire can get out of control and destroy even those who are innocent and who you love (Gale, Beete, Peeta’s family, Haymitch’s family). If everyone really burns, there’s no one to clean the ashes. The reason not everyone burns is because of people like Peeta who can coax the flames in a way that is nurturing and consistent. I mean…. “Peeta fashioned some kind of incubator” is such an obvious detail. Those goslings don’t hatch without Peeta, life does not go on in peace and joy without Peeta.
It is no coincidence that when Maysilee says Lenore Dove got the “jump on us all” (in being a rebel), she is referring to LD using orange paint to make protest art!
We must stop pushing Peeta Mellark out of the narrative! He is literally the sunset on the reaping!

finally got around to putting together elden ring builds for the post-ph crew, and tested them out briefly, so here are the builds i came up with and all that! (absolutely a very long post, i had fun explaining a lot of my reasoning)
i'm not going to give them exact stats, just some vague idea of what they'd likely lean towards, and i can't say much to what equip load they have. when i tested these builds out i had 72 endurance. this uses exclusively base-game equipment since i don’t have the dlc and wanted to test these out for myself.
i also don’t use many spells or any incantations so the spell and incantation choices are mostly based on wiki descriptions and whether or not i felt it would fit the character.
some context is that this is with the idea that somehow these four get zapped into the lands between as tarnished, and this is the equipment i think they’d use, disregarding what is needed to access most of this stuff.
i also didn't change my tarnished's appearance for these, not that i think i could accurately replicate these four in elden ring's character creator, anyways, so you get to see my tarnished's face with all of these :)
Link:
Tumblr media
His armor is: the highwayman hood, the blue cloth vest, exile gauntlets, and Carian knight greaves.
There's practically no green armor in this game, and what is there isn't really armor and isn’t exactly good protection. I wanted a bit of a balance between just cloth, but also some armor, as well as a headpiece somewhat like the usual hero's cap. The highwayman's hood works well enough, honestly, and I think it fits in well with the blue cloth vest; plus, I can see it being helpful in keeping dust and whatnot out of his eyes. Blue works well enough with Link nowadays, and I do think the blue cloth vest actually fits Link well enough- I doubt he'd want to wear something like a plate breastplate, so a vest like this is good.
The exile gauntlets I feel work well, they're simple and slim with some decent coverage, and the Carian knight graves not only look great with the blue cloth vest, but are also something that I believe fits Link, and the tall boots are likely decently practical in the same vein as the hood.
His weapons I chose are: The Carian knight's sword, with the pulley bow as a secondary weapon, and the Carian knight's shield in his offhand, with the academy glintstone staff as a secondary.
He obviously had to be the good standard sword-and-shield combo fighter, but I went ahead and gave him with Carian sword and shield partially because they look decently similar to what weapons he normally uses, but also because I enjoy the idea of him dabbling in magic along with typical damage types. The Carian sword does a good bit of magic damage along with standard, and the shield guards again both of those types, and the sword's unique ash of war (Carian Grandeur) is a good mix between swordfighting and magic, and actually really good to use in-game. I feel like they suit him well.
For his secondaries, I had to give him a bow, and I feel like the pulley bow is just right, especially with it's special feature of having increased range. I could see him being the one tasked with deactivating faraway traps and hunting the animals of the Lands Between for materials, and even just luring enemies with some normal arrows.
The academy glintstone staff is a solid staff (and the one I personally use), and him using magic is a good way to translate his usual versatility, though I only limited him to five spells, those being:
Loretta's greatbow, giving him what is technically now a second bow, and a pretty good spell for luring and doing some decent magic damage,
Magma shot, a good, simple fire damage spell,
Glintstone Icecrag, a good ice spell, especially for causing frostbite buildup,
Great glintstone shard, a very basic but reliable spell, and is good when cast a few times in succession,
and Thops' barrier, for deflecting magic attacks, and though I've heard it's a mediocre spell, I could see Link getting the timing down and getting some good usage out of it. I tried giving him a decent range of spells, which is a little bit easier said then done considering the actual spell variety and wanting to pick spell that I think suit Link, but I think this is a good lineup.
For talismans, assuming that all four of them have all four talisman slots open, Link gets the silver scarab, the graven-mass talisman, the erdtree's favor +2, and the companion jar.
The silver scarab, raising item discovery is... perfect for Link. It only feels right that he gets a talisman that makes him more likely to get items off enemies. It definitely works, too, while testing, I got way more items out of the gatefront ruins group than I'd ever seen before.
The graven-mass talisman boosts sorcery power, which is certainly perfect for boosting Link's versatility and magic power, simple and useful.
The erdtree’s favor +2 is just an all-around great talisman to use for the hp, mp, and stamina boost, and it feels perfect as something for Link to use, especially to increase his effectiveness and endurance in battle.
And then the companion jar, which goes hand-in-hand with him also being a pot user to further his versatility, and it’s very easy to see him doing the Jar-Bairn side quest. My choices here disregard how the items are obtained, but I could absolutely see Link going out of his way to interact with Jarburg.
Link’s standard fighter, with a balance between offense and defense and physical and magical damage with a slight leaning towards magical, and the main archer who aims to do more damage with archery, and uses pots when needed. He’s probably the one ‘leading the charge’ in that he’s suited for most situations, but isn’t necessarily the most effective in all-out combat- he is the most defensively oriented, however. He’s likely in the mid-to-light equip range, and likely mostly levels Strength and Intelligence to keep his damage up, and focuses a lot on keeping his Vigor up for a good chunk of health.
Linebeck:
Tumblr media
His armor is: the black knife armor, the gauntlets, and bandit boots.
The black knife armor is the most important part of the set, not just for it being a nice blue, but because it has the unique effect of completely silencing your movement sounds- perfect for steal and getting in a good number of sneak attacks. It’s light, too, and so are the generally standard gauntlets and bandit boots, all put together for a general… blue rogue kind of look? It’s practicality and some looks and all put around the idea that he’s going to be sneaking around and panic-rolling out of the enemy’s way- so his defenses are a bit lacking in favor of mobility. I do think it’s a good look overall.
His weapons are: A bloody antspur rapier with the poison mist ash of war, the redbranch shortbow as a secondary weapon, and the frozen needle in the offhand.
For Linebeck's build, it was either daggers or rapiers, and the extra damage, range, and great designs for the rapier won out- and I think rapiers suit him well. This specific pair of rapiers are oriented around inflicting ailments, with the frozen needle inflicting frostbite, and the antspur rapier- specifically with the poison mist ash of war and blood upgrade- can inflict scarlet rot, bloodloss, and poison with poison mist active. With the blood upgrade, the scarlet rot buildup suffers, but with the speed of rapiers and just how effective scarlet rot can be, it's a decent trade-off for the ability to do four ailments at once. His role in the Radahn fight is to inflict scarlet rot and then run off to snipe him with the redbranch shortbow, which is a simple ranged option, and helps with further ailment inflicting with ailment arrows.
His damage would probably be pretty decent, especially considering inflicting frostbite and his equipped talismans, but he's mostly going to be heading in with everyone and sticking around until proccing an ailment, and then backing off, especially if poison, rot, or frostbite are inflicted. Plus I think dual rapiers look great and it's very easy to see Linebeck using rapiers.
For talismans, he gets the gold scarab, the assassin's crimson dagger, the dagger talisman, and the blessed dew talisman.
The gold scarab boost rune acquisition by 20%. It's perfect. It's one of my favorite talismans. I can't make an Elden Ring build for Linebeck and NOT give him the money-boosting talisman.
The assassin's crimson dagger restores hp upon successful critical hits, and paired with the silencing effect of the black knife armor, is perfect for someone who's more used to sneaking around and taking down enemies from behind- and it's good for topping off your hp.
The dagger talisman boosts critical damage- so then making sneak attacks all the more effective, and even making any critical hits he manages in fights do much more damage.
And then the blessed dew talisman gives you a very minuscule constant hp regen, about 2 hp per second iirc. It’s incredibly slow, but it's hp regen all the same, good for saving flask uses and good for some health regeneration if you back out of the main fight.
Linebeck's got a big focus on stealth and ailments, with just a bit of health regen tossed in with the talismans to help with survivability. his weapons and offhand options are mainly based around ailments, and besides the bow, he tends to use darts and other throwable items, and is often the one to pick off enemies at the edge of a group while the others go in to the handle the main group. With bosses, he's in the front lines until an ailment is inflicted, and will jump back in either if he's really needed, or if ailments are needed again. For longer bosses, or bosses immune to a few ailments, he would probably find moments to jump in and get a bunch of quick hits in, then back out and wait for another opening. Rapiers are pretty good for quick hits considering that I believe you actually get three attacks from a dual-rapier sprint attack. He’d likely have a focus on Dexterity and Arcane, with some Endurance mixed in for that good running and rolling stamina.
Damien:
Tumblr media
His armor is; the sacred crown helm, exile armor, crucible gauntlets, and drake knight greaves.
Picking armor for Damien was a bit of a challenge since he’s still a bit of a work in progress and I usually picture him in generally casual clothes, but I knew I wanted to stick with some red clothing and put together a bit more of a practical sort of outfit. Plus this end result kind of helps me further figure out Damien’s actual design and outfit variations.
I knew I wanted to give him one of the simple footsoldier helmets, and the sacred crown helm won out with the additional detail of the little vine-looking wreath, plus the minor faith boost. It’s a nice little helmet and I think it suits him. The exile armor was considered due to the red cloth around the shoulders, and was properly decided on when I found that the helmet got rid of the cloth covering the bottom half of the face. So it’s a good solid chest piece.
The crucible gauntlets and drake knight greaves work both with color and giving him some more armored extremities, the crucible gauntlets are pretty good heavy armor gauntlets, if the crucible knights themselves are anything to go by, and the drake knight graves seem to have a good bit of practicality with the high boots and armor. It’s all meant to end up somewhere in the medium equip load area, for a balance between defense and speed, and the lighter helmet and chest piece were primarily to even out with the heavier weapons.
The weapons he gets are: the axe of Godrick, the highland axe as a secondary, and the clawmark seal.
The axe of Godrick is a pretty good greataxe with what selection there is, some good damage and a really good ash of war skill with a really good area of effect. It’s fantastic for crowd control when two-handed, and worked pretty well for me when I tested it out without having upgraded it. It’s all in all a great standard axe. The highland axe as a secondary is used partially as a faster one-hand option, and partially for the boost given by its war cry ash of war. The axe of Godrick is almost always what he’d use, but the highland axe is probably better for some specific situations. Damien was always going to end up using axes, and I think these two are pretty good and fitting.
In his other hand is the clawmark seal- scaling with faith and strength and so working well with him relying on strength, and boosting bestial incantations, of which he has one- and he mostly uses support incantations with some minor attack incantations- but he is primarily support, usually backing out of the fight to switch to casting due to usually two-handing the axe of Godrick. He gets six incantations, those being:
Heal, as a very standard heal, mostly just for himself,
Erdtree heal, a heal more intended for group healing,
Golden vow, a group offense and defense buff for a time,
Protection of the erdtree, for increased non-physical defense, which is likely useful for many bosses,
Bestial sling, which is a pretty basic but effective attack incantation, and boosted by the seal he uses, and is probably great in tandem with his axes to break an enemy's poise,
and then Dragonclaw as his final spell, a stronger and closer-up attack spell, likely for individual bosses that are lower on hp.
His offenses are standard and meant to be pretty decent for crowd control and poise-breaking, so his attack spells follow suite, while his support options are based around healing and some basic buffs. I personally do not use buffs or incantations when I play, so I do not know the nuances of a lot of this stuff, but Damien's got a good set of incantations to use.
Damien's set of talismans are the green turtle talisman, the mottled necklace +1, the axe talisman, and the bull-goat's talisman.
The green turtle talisman is a great talisman, simply increasing the speed of stamina regeneration, and it's a fantastic talisman. Very useful with the stamina drained by axe attacks and backing off to cast spells.
The mottled necklace boosts immunity, robustness, and focus, an across-the-board status boost, and I imagine it's useful for being up close with enemies and then staying alive to help with support- even if he doesn't have much in the way of ailment-based support.
The axe talisman is a damage booster, and considering his decent poise, charged attacks are pretty viable for him to be using.
The bull-goat's talisman is standard but very effective in practice (or maybe that's me being used to low poise), as it raises poise, therefore making it harder for you to flinch or be knocked out of an attack. Very helpful with a slower main weapon like the axe of Godrick.
Damien's standard all around, with pretty good damage and likely very helpful with crowd control, usually two-handing the axe for maximum damage and will back off when using incantations. He primarily uses incantations for support, and the offensive incantations are usually saved for bosses or rougher encounters- or sometimes just if he wants to switch things up for fun. He's likely going to focus on Strength and Faith, with some Mind thrown in for most casts.
Bellum:
Tumblr media
His armor is: the altered tree sentinel armor, and the malformed dragon gauntlets and greaves.
Chosen partially for the color and because they're all heavy plate armor; meant to emulate a lot of the phantom designs, and for that yellow color, and I wasn't even aware that the malformed dragon gauntlets had a darker color until I was initially putting this together. Heavy armor fits with a desire to survive in battle, plus I think decent mobility in heavy armor suits Bellum; when I tested this out, I was firmly in medium equip load territory, plus it made for a good bit of poise to go with slower weapons. It wasn't too hard to pick out armor for him.
The weapons I felt suit him are: the blasphemous blade, the Marais executioner's sword, with the gravel stone seal as a secondary.
The blasphemous blade was practically necessary, a greatsword with the bonus effect of hp restoration on enemy death, plus the Taker's Flames skill, which also heals hp when it hits an enemy. This is was made me decide on greatswords over colossal weapons, trying to stick a bit with some ideas from the phantoms, plus the hp-leeching effects, plus it’s a pretty good weapon and I think it originally belonging to Rykard also fits pretty well; it’s Bellum’s main weapon unless he switches to the Marais Executioner’s sword for it’s specific skill. That sword is mostly chosen for it’s skill, as well as it’s origins- those bell-bearing hunters are absolute nightmares to deal with- so the two swords are kind of also picked for a sort of intimidation effect. At least the wriggling flesh on the blasphemous blade does the job well enough if someone doesn’t know the origins (which don’t practically matter). He would likely switch to the executioner’s sword for some boss fights, and its skill can be highly damaging to lone enemies- the focus with these two is on heavy damage and hp regen.
The secondary left hand weapon he has is the gravel stone seal, which boost dragon incantations, and so he only uses offense incantations, with a lot of incantations that cover a wide area and some that inflict ailment buildup. Bellum gets five incantations, all attacks (and all maybe emulating the idea that he’s a monster forced to be human in the lands between lol);
Beast claw, a pretty standard but pretty effective ground-level attack,
Unendurable frenzy, a wide range, fiery madness-inflicting incantation that, while only inflicting madness on a select few enemies (and himself) is likely more than useful for crowds and large enemies,
Rotten breath, a dragon communion incantation that is about what it says on the tin, a dragon’s breath attack that inflicts scarlet rot,
Fortissax’s lightning spear, another dragon incantation that summons a pair of lightning spears, with the damage at it’s best up close,
and Aspects of the crucible: tail, a wide-range crucible incantation, and the most fitting of the crucible incantations, I feel.
He has no issue getting up close to bosses, since he can fall back on the honestly insane hp regen he’s afforded by both his main weapon and some of his talismans.
The talismans Bellum gets are; the taker’s cameo, the dragoncrest greatshield talisman, the pearldrake talisman +2, and the godskin swaddling cloth.
The taker’s token has the same passive effect as the blasphemous blade; hp restoration upon enemy death. The fun part is that the taker’s token and the blasphemous blade’s hp regen effects stack with each other.
The dragoncrest greatshield talisman reduces physical damage by 20%, and the pearldrake talisman +2 reduces non-physical damage by about 11%. Covering just about all defenses with these two talismans.
The godskin swaddling cloth allows for additional minor hp restoration upon landing a certain number of melee hits within a short timeframe. This could be harder with greatswords, but with dual greatswords and jumping right into the action, I don’t imagine it’s at all impossible for the talisman’s effect to never trigger. As always, it’s extra effective with a larger number of enemies.
Bellum’s the main damage-dealer with a focus on staying power and lots of hp regen, using the blasphemous blade for regular battles while switching to the executioner’s sword for bosses due to the more aggressive ash of war. His incantations are more often used for crowd control, but are absolutely effect for boss battles, especially when given time to charge them up. He’s all about staying power and straightforward damage-dealing, with some decent poise to back things up despite his checking piece being altered and his lack of a helmet, and all of his incantations are a bit more bestially-inclined. He'd probably focus on Vigor and Strength, with some Faith or Dexterity thrown in for damage-dealing.
Overall, the idea is that the four of them are in the lands between like this, working and running around together, probably fighting over what bosses to go after next and whether or not to head into the catacombs that one of them just spotted. I could see them taking the time to scour the lands between for every little trinket and discussing whether or not to bother with some character's quest. Not too different from actual post-ph stuff, but it's fun to put them in Elden Ring and think on what kinds of equipment to give them and what would suit them.
#salty talks#elden ring#post-ph#ppl checking out the elden ring tag for normal elden ring stuff disregard this dw abt it i have this tagged for my own organization#of these four linebeck's was the most fun to actually use but its mostly bc its the most similar to my usual build#bellum's was kinda cumbersome but god i hated link's i never want to use a shield i almost died testing out link's#which is fuckin saying something at gatefront ruins at level 218#i didnt test out any of the magic bc. number 1 i have 10 faith. and number two i picked these off fextralife wiki#long post#bellum HAD to use the blasphemous blade its perfect its a big sword that has an hp regen skill and regens hp when you kill something#and has nasty little moving bits of flesh on it. cant see it in the picture ofc but know that in game the red bits wriggle i like it#sorry if the pictures are big btw tbh they look better on mobile#the angle on damien's is awkward bc i wanted to get the whole axe on screen. thats the only reason why his is a little weird#prolly worth mentioning that i didnt alter my stats at all so the 'build' is like the equipment and stuff.#tbh thats probably why my damage with the bellum build suffered bc i have 10 faith and the blasphemous blade scales with faith#anyways listed all equipment and whatnot if anyone wanted the specifics of this stuff#im not great at like. putting together outfits in elden ring i figured out my tarnished's fit early on and stuck with it#theres a very good chance that my own playstyle and experience with the game influenced these like. i do not touch incantations for one#and ive been dual wielding since as soon as i figured it out and got two straight swords#iirc i briefly used rock sling bc you can get that really early but eh#thinking abt it now this also translates pretty well to traditional rpg party roles. standard link with all around decent stats but high#versatility and a lot of options. linebecks more speed and ailment-inflicting based. damien is high standard damage but a much more support#and healing based with a few basic standard damage spells. and bellum is more dedicated offense and defense with a focus on staying power#without any group support or other traits- just high offense high defense#if you wanna know what my tarnished looks like know this is inaccurate bc ive since tweaked her#the hp regen on bellums is wild when i cleared out gatefront like every few seconds id heard the hp steal sound effect it was nuts#no notes on damiens his was was surprisingly easy to get a handle of and is great with crowds#you can probably tell from the way this is written that it took me fucking forever to write up

you’re balancing on one jelly-like leg, back pressed into the lockers, the other leg hanging on his arm, toes curling. “oh, right there, tsumu, please,” a breathy whimper leaves your parted lips, and he angles his hips slightly, snapping his cock into you harder. each thrust punches the air out of your lungs, and atsumu knows he won’t be able to last much longer if you keep clenching like this, your pretty face scrunched with pleasure from him.
“fuck, babe— ughhh, yer so pretty like this..” he buries his face in your neck, the pace of his hips becoming unsteady and erratic as he gets closer and closer to coming undone inside you. in the not so far distance, you hear talking and laughing, but ignore it.
your pussy throbs, gummy walls sucking him deep, and he groans out your name, pressing you harder into the lockers. “mmmh, ‘m gonna cum, where d’ya—”
“inside, want it in me,” you cut him off with a whiny plea, “want it dripping out while i watch the game.”
your hand races to press into the small of his back, in an attempt to make sure he doesn’t pull away or out. with a grumble of your name that makes his chest shake, he cums inside of you, just as a door opens nearby.
“tsumu,” you whisper in a panic when he doesn’t make any move to pull out after a few seconds, effectively plugging you full of his cum, “we have to get dressed for your game, y-your friends—”
“nah,” atsumu huffs, staring at your flexing pussy; his cum drips from you, slipping down your thighs mesmerizingly. he practically has hearts in his eyes looking up and down your body.
“i think we’re a little early, kiyoomi,” hinata’s bright voice is suddenly a few rows of lockers away.
“prep before a game is most important,” sakusa replies sternly, “practice and a shower before always guarantees a win, shōyo.”
atsumu’s already in his shorts, helping you pull on an msby jersey, stamped with his number on the back. his cum drips from your cunt as you quickly move past his teammates with a wave, mumbling a dumb excuse as you race out the door.
“atsumu,” sakusa pulls on his mask almost immediately, his guard up. “surely you noticed your girlfriend wearing the jersey backwards.”
— BOKUTO KŌTARŌ.
“you’re gonna win, kou, i promise,” you interrupt your boyfriend’s enthusiastic and nervous rambling, lips trailing over his inner thighs.
“i-i know, but this game is important!” he emphasizes, swallowing thickly as your fingers hook into the waistband of his shorts and boxers. the clothing slides down his thighs, settling at his knees, and you inch closer to his cock — rock hard, hot to the touch, tip sticky with precum.
bokuto chokes out a hushed groan, tangling his fingers in your hair and cupping the back of your head the second you take him into your mouth. he helps you take his entire length into your mouth, spurring you on with his whines and mumbled curses.
“b-baby, fuck, you’re so perfect, ughhh—”
you choke when you finally make it all the way down to his base, your nose practically touching the coarse hair covering his pelvis. eager hands begin to guide you up and down, his tip hitting the back of your throat as you move. bokuto gasps out a string of hazy apologies when he heard you gag particularly hard, but he doesn’t stop— instead, he cups the back of your head firmly and fucks up into your mouth, the movement of his hips sloppy.
“y-you wan’ me to win, right?” his head drops back, the creaky sounds of the locker room bench growing louder beneath him. with your one of your hands positioned on the wood for support, you feel the bench shaking hard.
you nod, your eyes moving from his abs up to his scrunched face; he’s biting down on his bottom lip, worrying it between his teeth, his golden eyes half lidded and teary.
it’s almost filthy, the way bokuto rises off the bench, pushing you away from him before cupping the back of your head— he draws his hips back, leaving his tip in your mouth, then slams all the way inside.
tears spring to your eyes at the force, and you only move closer to him to allow him to use your mouth, or his ‘good luck charm’ before games.
“hahhh, that’s right, take it just like that,” bokuto grunts, “god, you’re gonna make me cum.”
heat rushes through your body and pools in your pelvis, wetting your panties at his words; his well muscled chest, gleaming with sweat, rises and falls rapidly as he pants. as his orgasm approaches, his thighs and abs tense as he buries himself deep in your throat, pulling you close to his pelvis.
his cock thickens on your tongue, throbbing as he finally fills up your throat with his cum; still sensitive, he whimpers as you swallow around him. slowly, bokuto pulls out of your mouth, his cock still hard.
he quickly pulls up his shorts, tugs you to your feet, and gives you a tight hug. “i’m gonna win today, and it’s all cause of you!” he mumbles excitedly into your neck.
“sounds good, kou,” you laugh, rubbing his back. “after the game, meet me back in the locker room, ‘kay?”
— IWAIZUMI HAJIME.
“mmmh, princess— loosen up a little for me, can barely move,” hajime hisses into your ear, spreading your thighs a little wider with his free hand. he curls his fingers inside you, prodding at your sweet spot and stretching out your tight pussy with their girth.
your nails press crescents into his strong shoulders through his shirt as you hold him for support in humping yourself onto his fingers. “t-thank you, haji, i needed this, ah!” your voice cracks when he starts to scissor his fingers in and out of you at an unforgiving pace.
“‘course, baby..” he leans in for a chaste kiss, his olive eyes closing as his lips touch yours.
despite being a hardass with his team, shouting and sometimes even swearing at them, hajime would always be gentle and loving with you all the time. often, you are his outlet when it comes to letting off steam — either through soft or rougher sex.
although he’s disciplined and strong willed, he always melts when you cling to him, eyes shining as you take his hand in yours, guiding him inside your shorts to feel your damp panties. “need you, haji,” was all you’d said earlier, and then he had you on his lap with his big fingers buried in your cunt, the two of you tucked away beneath the bleachers of the gym, right before practice starts. hajime always has time for you.
“o-oh, hajime!” you cry, pushing your face into his chest, feeling the muscle beneath his fitted shirt, “i’m c-cumming, ‘m—”
your hips jerk backwards, his fingers slipping out of you, and your face burns as you squirt all over his lap, his hands, and yourself. a sharp gasp leaves you when you realize you’ve soaked him and his clothes, right before practice.
“h-hajime, i’m so sorry, i—”
he cuts you off by grabbing your chin firmly, tugging you to look at him. “don’t be, babygirl,” he lets you go and slowly starts to slide you off his lap, gesturing for you to stand up.
“i just wanted to make you cum, it’s okay, i still have some time to change,” he murmurs, getting on his knees and wasting the changing time; his tongue slides over your wet inner thighs, and he starts to lick up your cum.
your hands tangle in his dark hair, and you pull him closer to your dripping pussy, eyes rolling back when he presses a wet kiss to your clit.
— KUROO TETSURŌ.
“wow, couldn’t even wait till my lunch break, huh? w-what—shit, so tight—a slut.”
kuroo’s words are shaky, grunted out from above you as he fucks you, bent over with your palms pressed against the window. the glass is smeared with the combination of perspiration and your scented lotion that makes him go insane, the one that has him grabbing you all over.
“harder, tetsu..” you whisper, toes curling in your socks; your short skirt is flipped up, panties wet and pulled to the side. he’s supposed to be leaving his office for a meeting in the next 5 minutes, but when you showed up all pretty and flashed him just a little, he couldn’t resist.
the door wasn’t even closed, and here he was pushing his cock inside you and sliding his large hands under your shirt to grab at your tits.
“you like me fuckin’ you with the door open, right in front of the window, hm? fucking you just like a whore, baby.”
your puffy cunt clenches hard around his cock, and your head falls forward with a needy mewl, drinking in the sight of kuroo’s balls smacking into your clit, his cock pounding in and out of you.
“oh?” he slaps your ass, drawing a whimper from your lips that has him gritting his teeth and tossing his head back, “you like being called a whore, don’t you? you like me using your—ughhh, fuck!—s-slutty pussy like this, yeah?”
“yes, tetsu, god yes,” you keen, hands sliding down the glass as your eyes roll back and your back arches for him, “don’t stop don’t stop, please—”
you hope kuroo will be able to cum before his assistant comes by to remind him of the meeting that’s only a few minutes away — you hear her pushing away from her desk to come to his office, and you can’t find it in yourself to care or be any quieter.

@starlightwayfinder
so regarding quest 20, my friend brought something to my attention 👀
“117 wins 312 losses and 8 draws = 437 107 wins, 323 losses, 7 draws = 437 i wouldve thot nothing of it but they both add up to 437″
since Nomura likes hiding computing terms in KH, i wikid it (forgive me coding people for sounding like a noob its because i am) and
“Code page 437 is the character set of the original IBM PC (personal computer). […] This character set remains the primary font in the core of any EGA and VGA-compatible graphics card. Text shown when a PC reboots, before any other font can be loaded from a storage medium, typically is rendered in this character set.”
so basically 437 refers to a reboot, or in KH terms…. a rebirth 🐣 Reverse Rebirth is the title of COM’s Riku campaign. KHDR’s prologue could imply that Xehanort is KHUX Player’s nobody or reincanation. i dont have any funky conclusion but i dont believe this is coincidence so i wanted to bring it to people’s attention ✌🙂

STUFF ME!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: your mission to collect intel on an auction seems to be going well until sylus catches an unexpected jealous streak.
warnings: porn no plot, couch sex, creampie, super loud possessive sex
wc: 1,2k
Tumblr media
sylus was not a jealous man. he wasn’t.
he knew himself as a well assured person without much that could deter him. he knew you were capable of handling yourself well in any situation and that you were loyal to him just as he was to you.
but for some reason he couldn’t figure out why he felt a small agitating tick in his neck when he watched your flirt with an auctioneer to gather information for him. the way you smiled at him, the fact that his grimy hands touched you on your arm, his mere presence within your vicinity– it was maddening.
and that was why– just a floor above the auction hall in your hotel suite– he was balls deep inside you.
you hadn’t even managed to reach the bedroom before your clothes slipped off, your lips were attached to each other, and your hands wandered all over to places only you two had the privilege of touching.
your nails were deep enough to make sylus’ back bleed for how hard he was ploughing into you. his face was buried in your pretty breasts, swollen with arousal and slick from his tongue sucking harsh love bites onto you, bounced with each slap of your hips snapping together.
“sy– wait–“ you hiccuped but your pleas fell to deaf ears. you were overstimulated, overwhelmed and yet so hungry for more.
that relentless goal to drill his cock into you and stuff you until you were only capable of saying his name drove you insane. you didn’t think he’d get this jealous. you didn’t even know it was possible.
“i didn’t like– ah– how he was looking at you.” halfway through the route to painting you with his cum for the second time, sylus’s jealousy had long faded. now he was just relishing in enjoying you– enjoying the process of bringing you to exhaustion just from pleasuring you.
he gave your lips a long sloppy kiss, imagining torturing your clit with his tongue and feeling your walls tighten around his fingers. he knew how much you loved it, and he loved seeing you squirm. your tongues swirled and bumped, leaving you both so wet and hot.
“wanted– fuck, sy– wanted you to–“ you were babbling at that point reaching orgasm number three, all while feeling empty because he decided to punish you by cumming on you instead of deep inside knowing how much you loved it. he was being so, so cruel. leaving you so soaked with your only way of leaking on him is with your own slick and the ring of cream decorating his thick cock.
your back arched just as he bullied his tip consistently at that deliciously vicious pace right on your sweet, sensitive spot. and yet, it felt so tender at the same time. his lips peppered your skin like butterflies tickling your skin, his thumbs massaged your hips while his grip tightened in the gradual slip to lose control.
“so warm,” his hips pounded into yours at your favourite angle to the point where his heavy sacks were slapping your skin, making that familiar wet plap! plap! plap! noise with the squelches of your soaked pussy being rammed into. “you looked so good tonight, sweetie.”
you couldn’t do anything other than moan out, clawing your nails on his back, fruitlessly sucking on the muscle of his shoulder to not be so loud. the walls weren’t that thick and if room service came by to deliver the meals you had preordered earlier that night, they’d hear the most obscene sounds imaginable.
the most lewd cries and babbling rambles escaping your pretty lips.
“gonna– gonna cu– god, please sy!” you whined as your walls clenched around his cock for the nth time that night. if your teeth weren’t clamped onto his shoulder you wouldn’t have seen him almost vibrate from the feeling of your pussy almost sucking the cum right out of him.
“don’t worry– f-fuck–“ he moaned, slowly drawing back to plough his cock back into your weeping cunny. now he was just being mean. his eyes were slowly rolling back as he neared his edge. “ ‘m close too.”
it was just too good to pull out, too good to torture you more and more when he could sink deep in you nice and snug and decorate your walls like a fucking picasso. he just knew that image would beat any form of art. and that was just a loud reminder of how he was completely at your mercy. everything you wanted, he would give.
if his eyes could form heart shapes, he’d be the most love drunk, pussy drunk sucker that would do anything and everything for you. he wanted to spend hours tending to your needs and desires and satiating your insatiable greed for him.
his hand reached down to your aching clit to mercilessly rub circles and pinch at it like his favourite toy. a whimper slipped through your lips from the friction of your wetness between your clit and his fingers. if his relentless pounding wasn’t enough to tip you over the edge you were sure the stimulation to your raw bud would make you pass out.
your babbles turned into complete incomprehensible nonsense mixed with your lewd, slutty moans sounding like a symphony to sylus, just enough to give you one final thrust to bring you to an intense, explosive climax.
a hoarse cry ripped from your throat as your head threw back from the sheer pleasuring force, driving you into a pleasure-fuelled craze. not seconds after, thick hot cum spurted into you like a current washing into a shore.
your fluttering cunny took his seed squeezing around his cock to milk all of it out of him until he shot countless blanks. sylus continued to pound his cum deep into you, fucking you both through your orgasms.
felt so fucking good– so disrespectfully raw and nasty that you felt your stomach tighten and your hips buck against his, squelching the excess cum all over the couch.
as the thrill began to ebb away, your breathless pants evened out. you moved your hands to stroke sylus’ back in bliss, kissing all the areas you brutally marked and bit him. sylus gently returned the gesture with his massages around your hips, cock still hard, twitching and throbbing, leaking his cum into you.
“i got intel,” you murmured. he groaned into your neck, and indication for you to say more. “the auction’s a dud. the weapons are all rip offs.”
a deep chuckle rumbled into your skin. “knew it.” his grip on your hips tightened as he readjusted his position on the couch to throw your legs onto you before trapping you beneath him with his cock twitching with fervent desire.
“good job, sweetie,” he pecked your lips with satisfaction then kissed you again, swiping your swollen lips with his tongue. “i think i’ll take care of getting intel from now on.”
it was safe to say you weren’t going to go back to that auction. or leave the suite until you were stuffed to the brim.

EASY ft. Yunjin
yunjin x male reader smut
6k words
Tumblr media
“Oh, you’re an idiot,” Yunjin decides, stealing yet another one of your fries. “My best friend is an idiot.”
You pull the bowl out of her reach, feeling the need to defend yourself, “You're really calling me an idiot because—”
“Because you have the completely insane opinion that jerking yourself off is better than getting a blowjob. What is wrong with you?”
“They’re overrated! Number of times I’ve cum from a blowjob—zero. Number of times I’ve cum from my own hand—probably thousands!”
“Okay, first—gross, and second—you’re not just an idiot. You are a sad, sad man.”
“I’m just being honest!”
Yunjin reaches over, snatches yet another fry. Waves it in front of your face, judging you, before reaching some kind of consensus in her unreasonably pretty head. “You only think that because you've never had a good one.”
“I've had plenty.”
Yunjin's eyes narrow. She crunches.
You swallow hard.
“But you've never had one from me.”
Look, you’re pretty sure Yunjin’s full of shit. You’ve known her forever, you’re well versed in her bullshitting ways—she’s got a penchant for stretching out the truth until it’s as elastic as the underwear strap that she just loves to leave sticking out of her jeans.
So, yeah. The girl likes to exaggerate. It’s kind of her job anyway. Make things seem bigger, more dramatic than they really are. Sell the idea of heaven in a three-minute pop song. Sweet lies from lips painted to perfection.
Plump, glossy, pillowy-soft lips that you’ve seen pout and purse and get trapped between her teeth or swiped over by her tongue and—
You get the picture.
“Seriously, the bathroom?” You’re asking, and honestly, you’re trying to give her an out. Waiting for her to take it back, reveal that this is all just an extremely unfunny prank, designed to needle you, make you blush and maybe get a good story to embarrass you in front of her friends with. How she left the silly, naïve hometown boy with his pants around his ankles and his dick in his hand.
Any time now, she’ll point and laugh and make you feel like even more of a fucking idiot when she says, ‘I can’t believe your dumb ass actually followed me in here expecting a blowjob,’ and that’ll be the end of it.
Really. Any time now.
And yet.
Silence as she closes the door behind her, which you feel the need to break with, “Come on, Yunjin, you don’t have to prove anything—"
Yunjin cuts you off—“Oh, but I want to.”
She spins on her heels to face you. Presses her back flush against the door. She turns the lock.
Something in the room shifts.
Her posture, maybe, or more specifically something in her legs. The way she’s angled herself so that your eyes are drawn to their long creamy expanse, up to the tightness of her thighs, and the way they frame the juncture in between.
Or it’s in the drop of one single shoulder; her half-zipped hoodie sliding down to reveal a sliver of smooth neck, the falling strap of her tank-top, the gentle swell of her chest.
Or maybe it’s just the tilt of her head, her lips all pouty and perfect, and oh, now she’s unzipping the jacket further down and she’s watching you find out in real time that she’s left her midriff bare and uncovered and holy shit her abs are ridiculous and your brain is blue-screening—
This isn’t the Yunjin you know.
The friend, the confidant, the embarrassingly loud chatterbox who raids your fridge and roasts your clothes and has a running commentary on every single woman that enters and very quickly leaves your orbit.
Each ticking second, each subtle movement, she’s starting to look less and less like the girl from your childhood and more and more like the idol that everyone else seems desperate to worship.
She takes a step forward.
Your mouth feels paper-dry.
You lie, “Can’t say you’re off to a great start, then.”
Yunjin raises a perfect brow, and yeah, she doesn’t buy that shit for a second. “What, were you expecting somewhere with a little more ambiance?”
“Well, you’re setting yourself up for failure here,” you retort, some defence mechanism causing you to try to keep things casual, bring it back to more familiar, banter-heavy waters. “Toilets aren’t really a turn-on for me.”
“Didn’t take you for a romantic,” she teases, but something about her tone—light, playful, less biting than usual, sends you in a tailspin. Your mind grinds to a halt when you realise why. She’s not simply teasing. She’s flirting. And she’s taking another step.
“What can I say, I’m a love before lust kind of guy.”
Yunjin just laughs, something foreign and a little bit wicked. Forces a chill down your spine that you can’t quite explain. She makes those final steps, closing the distance, backing you up against the row of sinks, and—fuck.
She stops right in front of you. Your heart races. You think she can hear it thump.
“Am I making you nervous?” She asks, and it’s all kinds of fucked because now you’re seeing the details; the flecks of honey-brown escaping the coloured contacts that make her eyes pop, the curls at the end of her lashes, reaching out to touch the fluorescent lights overhead. “The thought of my pretty lips wrapped around you putting you on edge?”
And you really thought you knew her mouth; but now she’s jutting out her bottom lip, and it’s fuller than you remembered. As dangerously red as her hair, and Jesus Christ you catch the tremble in them when her eyes flicker down for just a brief instant—right before they return to yours.
She grins.
You aim for unaffected. You miss the mark by a wide margin. "Just don’t want to disappoint you. Putting all this effort in only to be proven wrong by me. Again.”
Yunjin gives you a pitying sigh in response, the sound all honey and smoke, and she makes you flinch when she barely has to move a muscle to place a single finger on your sternum.
She draws a lazy circle on your chest. You hate that you shiver.
“Something tells me that won't be the case,” she’s saying, whisper-quiet now. The circle she’s drawing gets wider, turns into a spiral, and now she’s massaging into your chest, a hand over your heart, and her fingers are getting higher until they’re up to your shoulder, and she’s leaning in so her breath is hot on your neck, and—“It’s going to be filthy. Sloppy. A fucking mess. You’ll never be the same. I’m going to bring you to your knees.”
“I thought the whole idea of this was for you to be kneeling in front of me,” you manage, by some miracle, to keep your voice steady. “Seems like you’re getting ahead of yourself here.”
“All in due time,” she answers, getting her body closer, and you can feel your worser impulses start to involuntarily close the gap between your waists. “I’m not like those other girls. I’m not going to just jump right on your cock and bounce up and down for two minutes. I think you’ve earned yourself a little torture.”
“Then you’re wasting your time.”
“We’ll see about that,” she chides, and her other hand starts to skate down your chest, lower and lower until it stops just short of your pants. Her thumb digs into your waistband. Tugs. Does nothing else.
And maybe there's something there. The denial. The torture. The helplessness. Coming from someone who's always been a little bossy, who you've always let get her way because, hell, she's Yunjin, and she always promised that in the end she'd make it so nice for you.
You’re not sure if you want to find out.
“Yunjin—”
“Don’t be afraid,” she giggles, breaking you out of whatever spell has kept you frozen in place this entire time. “Go ahead, you can touch me too, if you want.”
But it's just as you reach out for her that you’re caught.
Yunjin traps one of your wrists in her grasp, causing you to freeze up all over again. Brings your hand to her mouth. Let’s her eyes flit once—to your face—and again—to your thumb.
She sucks.
Slow, deep, her tongue swirling around the digit as it disappears past her lips and into the warmth of her mouth. Vibrates a ridiculously filthy moan into your knuckle, convincing you for a second that your thumb must be delicious, must be something really fucking sweet for her to be slurping on it like this.
She pulls away, just enough to let the sticky wetness left behind glisten in the light.
Her lips bless the pad. “You’re picturing it, aren’t you?”
And then the next finger; and yeah, you’re transfixed—fascination, horror, painful straining as she does the same dance with your forefinger. Deep, deeper than the thumb could reach, until your nail is scraping at the back of her throat and—
It pops out of her mouth as quick as it entered, and you feel it in your core—the sudden absence. “You’re thinking about it—thinking I might be right. Realising that if I can do this to your fingers—”
You can’t bring yourself to argue. Can’t even bring yourself to speak. You’re too busy watching her mouth, too busy watching your middle finger go all the way in, push down into her throat and holy fuck, she doesn’t even gag.
“It’d feel so much better than anything you ever had. Ever even imagined,” she says, and she’s kissing up and down your finger, staining it fire-engine red. “See, the problem wasn’t that you don’t like blowjobs. It’s that you never once gotten one from a mouth this eager for you.”
And finally, when her teeth graze the tip of your ring finger, and you’re expecting the warmth of her lips once more, she stops.
Grinds her hip into you, forcing you to stab into her abs, and it’s unavoidable now—the pressure of your cock, ready to tear itself out of your jeans and just feel her. Her touch. Her cunt. Her mouth.
She feels it too. Arches her eyebrow—‘I told you so’ on her lips prepped and ready.
You wait under the heat of her gaze, trying not to look because you really don't want to give her the satisfaction. But fuck it’s hard. Each breath feeling like it’s being siphoned out of you, replaced with the scent of her—sweet, suffocating. Intoxicating.
But your eyes turn traitor. And it’s a mistake.
Yunjin squeezes your wrist, steals your attention. Takes your ring and pinkie fingers into her mouth. Pushes them past her lips at the same goddamn time.
Your mind goes completely, utterly blank.
She sucks on them hard, drawing them deep past her lips, devouring them, like they’re the last two drops of water in the desert and she’s just been dying of thirst. Holds your eyes hostage, needing an audience to watch as she makes a show of it; moaning around them, tongue rolling over and around your digits and you’re receiving the message loud and clear—‘You have no idea what you’re in for.’
You feel your knees start to give out.
Your fingers are soaked with her saliva, and the sounds she’s making—deep, throaty, fucking obscene—your body’s being hijacked, all your blood redirected to one painfully obvious place.
It occurs to you that you should just give up now. Tell her she’s proven her point. Your heart’s racing, your chest is tightening, your breath is coming in ragged, desperate bursts. Just tell her you believe her and jump straight to the part where she does her victory dance on top of your cock
If only.
Yunjin sets your fingers free with a smack of her lips, but the heat of her mouth still clings to your skin, lingering with the wetness of her tongue, the promise of something so much better. She kisses a trail around your palm, over the back of your hand, around your wrist.
And then she’s on her toes, and she’s leaning her body into you, using your shoulder for support. Marking your neck, nose nuzzling against the stubble, and you can’t help but wrap your arms around her waist. Pull her closer, give her tongue access to your jaw, your cheek, anywhere she wants.
Her teeth line the bottom of your ear, and she sucks gently at your earlobe, and you swear to fucking God it makes your balls tingle.
She bites. “By the end of this, you’re going to be begging.”
Gets closer still, nestles herself into your embrace, presses her tits against your chest. It's divine, the feeling of her against you, in your arms. So right. A body so tight; slender and grace and so happy to have your arms wrapped around her, so delighted that you've discovered the perfect home for your fingers, because she would absolutely hate to have them anywhere else. On anyone else.
"You won't be able to resist me," she tells you, her breath hot on your skin, making it rise up in goosebumps. And you just nod along, because what could be better than the way she's touching you, the heat she's offering, the things you can already picture her lips doing?
And that’s when she lays it on you—her true endgame in all of this teasing:
“You’re going to want it so badly, you’re going to call me Mommy.”
You nearly push her right off you.
Yunjin just stares straight at you. Dead serious. Heat, intent, fucking determination set upon her awfully pretty features.
“I’m older than you, you know.” You try to laugh it off, but it comes out strained when Yunjin presses herself into you again, and her tongue starts to trace the shell of your ear, and her hand starts to work at your zipper. Touching you like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Like she’s done it so many times before. Like she’s going to do it so many times again.
“It’s a state of mind, baby,” and she smirks, and there’s a challenge in there. Two doors—try to prove her wrong and walk away, keep your dignity intact. Or just let go, get rid of your pride and fall into a pair of the most tempting, talented, sinful lips that have ever graced your skin.
You don't even get a second to decide.
Her hand’s already at your throat, pulling you close. You let her. Make it easy. Taste the sweetness of her breath, getting a split second to crave her tongue before finally meeting it. Her mouth crashes into yours, and you’re gone.
You kiss her back, breathe her in. Welcome her tongue past your teeth, let it stroke yours, dance in a way that’s far too right for a first time, and it's crazy how she just fits.
She feels, smells, tastes like everything good.
You settle into the reality that this might be the last—only—chance you get.
Face it, you’ve always known who she is—undeniable, goddamn gorgeous, sexy, hot, plain and simple. But this? This is different. You’ve watched it. Yunjin on stage, wearing next to nothing, hips rolling in sync with a thrumming bass, eyes fucking the hell out of the cameras. And you’ve fantasised about it. But it's always felt so fucking far-fetched. She's always felt so impossibly out of reach.
Intangible, since the day she debuted. Ascended to some place that you could never join.
But now.
She’s come back down, just for this. Just to reclaim something that's always been hers.
She moans something nice into your mouth when she feels you pushing back against her. Her hand finally dips beneath your waistband. Finds you eager. Desperate.
But then she pulls away.
Eyes widen, fucking laughs.
“Oh, you’re such an asshole.”
You blink. “What?”
She reaches back, hands careful. Like she’s defusing a bomb. Her fingers peel down the zipper of your pants, and then yank down the stretched-out cotton of your briefs, and you’re set free.
Hard. Aching. Throbbing.
Hers.
“Asshole,” she repeats.
You don’t even know what the fuck.
“Christ, it suddenly makes sense,” she says to herself, but doesn’t bother elaborating. No, instead, she just reaches back down, wraps her fingers around you and gives you a little squeeze. Tests the water. Feels the way your cock jumps under her touch.
Your knuckles turn white against the sink behind you, and Yunjin smiles again when she realises you’re going to let her do whatever she wants.
And so her hand starts moving. Slowly. Gently.
She kisses you again, for just a moment, and then lower, and lower. Stroking you as she maps her way down your body with her lips. Feather-light against your skin, touch hot on your cock, dragging it out, building the anticipation.
Stopping when she’s on her knees. Breathing on your cock.
You hiss in a breath.
Yunjin lets go. Takes off her jacket. Tightens her ponytail. Blinks up at you. And fuck. Her chin tipped just so. Her cheeks flushed. Her eyes alone making you strain.
Her lips part, and you find yourself nodding before she even says a single word.
“I’m going to take care of you now,” she whispers into your skin, kissing into your thigh. It’s warm, soft, wet. Excruciating. She’s so close to where you need her mouth to be, but so fucking far.
Her fingers trace patterns up and down your shaft, dancing over your cock. Not touching, never. Just teasing. Torment that has you squirming, and she’s basking in it, tracking every twitch, loving every desperate gasp.
“You’re mine,” Yunjin mutters, as her mouth travels up your thigh, and your muscles start to shake. You could just grab her, it’d be so easy. Just take her by the hair, force her to give you want you want. But something stops you. Afraid of breaking this moment. Anticipating what’s to come.
Your oxygen's running low, barely breathing, can’t stop yourself from panting when her teeth scrape along your hipbone, and your cock jumps in response, nearly slapping her right in the face.
But fuck, Yunjin’s a sadist. She kisses around your waist, her tongue darting out to taste your skin, exhaling hot and steamy air against your balls. You're dripping, beading at the tip, and it’s all so, so obvious.
The wait is agony. Pure agony.
Yunjin gives you a small mercy. Her hand wraps around you again, and for an instant you’re terrified that the touch alone would be the end of it.
But thankfully, you outlast. Yunjin strokes you lightly, her grip firm but gentle. Loving. Wresting control over you, your cock. So fucking hard already, you’re surprised you haven’t torn the sink off the wall yet.
And then, oh fuck, she’s kissing closer. Your abs, your belly button. Lower, lower, breath hot on your cock, closer, closer, please.
You can’t take it anymore. You need her. You need this.
“Yunjin,” and any other time you would hate yourself for how embarrassingly needy it comes out.
“Admit you were wrong,” Yunjin says, and you’re ready to scream it, tell her you’ve never been more wrong about anything in your entire life. Anything to feel her lips. “Admit that there’s no way your hand could ever be better than this.”
“Yes,” you grit out, and it’s a fucking miracle you can form words at all. “You were right. I was wrong.”
She’s baring teeth now, and her lips are ghosting over your cock head and you just need her.
“Please.”
“Say it.”
“I can't—”
“Do it.”
“Mommy.”
And then—
Her mouth is on you.
Wet, hot, heaven. Taking you in slow, eyes paying attention to your every flinch, the agonising twists across your face. Trained on all your strained reactions. Savouring it. Reading you like a book—every page turned with a flick of her tongue, every paragraph devoured with a swirl of her cheeks.
Slow, so slow. Deliberate. Perfect suction. Just enough to make your toes curl, to have your hips buck in her mouth. Convincing you that everything before, everything you ever had, whatever you believed was a blowjob—was all a fucking lie.
No one ever felt like this.
Your fingers release the sink, find their natural place in her hair, threading through the red, letting it knot around your digits. And there's the urge again. Tug, pull, make her go faster, make her understand that she’s already won so you might as well fuck without abandon, but you don’t dare. You don’t want to ruin this. Not when she seems so satisfied.
Cheeks hollowing out with every suck, smiling around your cock, basking in some kind of pleasure you can’t even comprehend—because she’s the one doing the giving here.
And then when she sinks, finally pushes your cock to the back of her throat and further down. Presses her nose to your waist and holds you there. Stealing your breath, the air from your lungs, forcing a deep, guttural ‘Fuck’ from your gut.
You reach your conclusion. Her lips are made for this. Made to fit around your cock perfectly, to slide up and down with the fucking unapologetically sloppy noises that make the room spin. That it’s only her throat that can take you deeper than you ever thought possible, that can constrict and tighten around you so nice. That no other mouth could be this warm, hot, welcoming, fucking right.
She pulls back. A long, long draw that leaves a fucking mess. Globs of spit, drool, pre-cum hanging off your cock, from her lips.
“This poor, poor cock,” she sighs, like it’s such a great tragedy. “Never had anyone treat it right. Like the treasure it is.”
She shows you what she means, demonstrates how to properly worship your cock. Lips brushing along your shaft, pecking gentle kisses along your length, tongue snaking out to lick off her own spit.
Her hand slides under your balls, cupping them, balancing them in her palm. Holding them in place when she points your cock up so she can duck underneath. Nuzzle her nose into your waist, lap her tongue at your base, get her lips right where you’re most sensitive.
Pleasing you like she’s always wanted to. Making you believe that maybe she has. Maybe this is something she’s been thinking about all this time; every time she’s seen you, seen the way you looked at her, heard you tell stories of the other women that only ever disappointed you with their mouths.
Not knowing that she was the one that could make you fucking levitate this entire time.
“This was always going to happen,” Yunjin says. Starting to stroke you again, her grip a little tighter this time, a little more possessive. Looking up at you through her lashes, red lipstick smudged off the corner of her mouth. “One way or another, I was always going to have this.”
And her tongue is everywhere. Laving around the base of your cock, making you feel it all the way to your toes. Not done with the teasing, the unbearably slow burn that’s going to drive you insane.
Her mouth opens wide. She takes one of your balls into her mouth. Surrounds it in soft, wet heat. Sucking—not hard, not yet, just enough. Enough to make you bite down and grind your teeth. Squeeze your eyes shut—not that it even helps. You can feel her tongue rolling around, coating your balls in a warm stickiness. Soothing. Torturous. So fucking good.
She lets out a soft hum, and the vibration nearly sends you over the edge.
Yunjin lets go with a pop, and you swear you can hear your soul sigh in relief and despair. “God, this cock,” she murmurs, “Wish you had told me, shown it to me sooner.”
The way she says it—like you could even fathom what you’ve been missing out on. Years of this? Years of her mouth on you? Years of her making you feel like the only thing that matters in this fucking world is impaling your cock into the most insanely hot and wet and tight hole you’ve ever felt?
The look on Yunjin’s face answers every single question for you.
Yes. Yes to all of it.
“Could have been doing this every fucking day,” she muses, and you let out some choked gasp, and her lips are kissing into your slit again. Then her tongue, then lower, and she’s taking you deep. So deep you’re pretty sure you can feel her fucking heartbeat through her throat.
She holds you there. One, two, three. Letting her tongue drool down your shaft, letting it drip over your balls and splash down between her knees.
Pulls back, lets go, catches her breath.
Spits on your cock.
“Imagine,” she speaks, even though her mouth is a fucking disaster, lips swollen, just a glossy smudge of red. “Just waking up to me sucking this, getting it all nice and hard and throbbing.”
It’s not difficult at all to see it. You can feel it. Tongue flattening against the underside of your cock, the swallow as she’s taking you in, the cheeks fixing around the edges with each bob. Just so fucking messy. Soaking your cock, letting these garbled, choked, slick, filthy noises echo off the bathroom walls.
“This would ruin me, you know that don’t you? Ruin my cunt,” she tells you. “Ruin Mommy’s tight little cunt so fucking nicely.”
“Fuck you, Yunjin,” is the best you can muster, which is impressive considering your brain cells are dying off one by one from the lack of oxygen.
“Yeah, I’m sure you’d love that.”
“Of course I would,” you admit, and then continue admitting, “I’ve always fucking wanted to.”
“I know,” Yunjin admits back, and that sets her off. Her mouth goes to work again, your cock disappearing into her, her hand getting just that little bit faster, and fuck, fuck, fuck, she’s got it all wrong.
She’s the one that’s going to ruin you. Going to make you forget every other orgasm you ever had.
There'll be no room for anything in your head but just thoughts of fucking her. Raw, rough; again and again until she's completely filled up with you and even then.
“Been dreaming of it,” you groan out, as Yunjin’s pace builds, and there’s the beginning of tears lining her eyes, and she’s gagging more often than not, and it compels you to keep telling her, “Been dreaming of your tight fucking body. What I’d do to get my hands on that slutty little waist. Just dig in my fingers and pound into that cunt. God I know it would feel so good.”
Deeper and deeper, until she doesn’t even need to use her hands anymore. Just to steady your legs, to keep you still while she fucks your cock with her throat.
And it’s these images you’re drawing up in her mind. How you’d pay her back, how you’d make her scream, how’d you do the same to her and more. Wreck her with your cock until she never seeks another again. Make sure that her lips, her cunt, her body belong to only you. That’s what’s driving her now, making her eyes water, making her cheeks go red and her throat bulge.
That’s what has her hand snaking down between her thighs, forcing open the button of her shorts, stretching the waistband of her panties to their limits. Just so she can touch herself. To feed into the heat building in her cunt and the wetness leaking down her legs.
You can feel her, mouth tightening around you as she teases herself. Feel the accidental swipe of her teeth when it gets too much. She’s rubbing her clit in circles, matching the tempo of her bobbing head.
Fuck, the sight alone.
Hand disappearing into her shorts, getting down and into herself, and she’s so fucking pretty, even when her face is scrunched up in the worst of pleasures, even when she’s choking on your cock.
And you think there’s laughter around the gags, or at least a smile against your skin when you throb, jerk, fuck her mouth. She’s enjoying this. The power, the pleasure she can wrench from you. You’re getting off, sure, but it’s all for her. All to prove her point.
And she’s fucking winning.
“Tell me,” she gurgles when she’s at your head, mouth bubbling at the corners with a cocktail mix of her sloppiness and your arousal. “Tell me how good it feels.”
“Shit, Yunjin, it feels—”
“Actually, fuck that, tell me it’s better,” Yunjin decides, and she seems so fucking pleased with herself that you want to hate her. But it’s so hard to deny those big fucking eyes that anchor you to the ground, those ridiculously plump lips that suck any argument right out of your throat. “Better than your hand. Better than any other mouth. Tell me it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to your cock. Be a good boy and tell me I’m better.”
You groan, or whimper, or cry, or make some noise that makes Yunjin just so fucking ecstatic, makes her swoon and nearly come apart on her own fingers. “So much fucking better, Yunjin. Jesus, your lips. Perfect for this. Perfect, cock-sucking lips. Hot mouth. Your fucking throat taking me so nice.”
“Use it,” Yunjin opens her mouth, stretches her lips as far as they'll go, showing you, sticking out her tongue and giving you an insight into your own end. “Use it like the toy it’s always been for you. Fuck it, fuck me. Use my lips, my mouth, my throat. Make me choke until you think I can't take it and then give me even more.”
“You’re fucking insane.”
“And you’re about to make a mess.”
Yeah, you’re properly doomed.
God it’s so fucking cruel. How Yunjin doubles down, mouth swallowing you whole. So fast and deep that you don’t understand how you’re still on your feet. Just watching her throat pulse, convulse, her eyes bulge when you rut inside her and she just won’t stop.
“You’re so fucking good, Yunjin, so good, you’re a—fuck—you’re a—” Only one word comes straight to mind, "Cumslut."
Yunjin preens. Looks up, lashes fluttering. Sounding so girly that it makes everything seem even more debauched and depraved. “Aren’t I? Aren’t I so good for you?”
You grunt out, “You already fucking know.”
Yunjin’s hand returns to the fold, jerking your cock into her lips, because your own personal catastrophe’s on the horizon. It’s coiling in your balls, tightening up, a spring ready to snap.
And, oh, how Yunjin would love to be the one that snaps it.
“You’re not going to be able to go back. Never. No one else will be able to take this big fucking cock like this. No one can be as much of a cumslut for you.”
You’re fucking falling apart. Yunjin’s mouth is a vice. Hot, heavenly, sloppy vice that’s squeezing the last drops of sanity from your brain. She just keeps fucking doing it—taking you so deep until your cock’s lost down her throat, over and over again. And it’s building and getting closer and closer to disaster and every nerve ending in your body is just begging for release.
“Give in,” she slurs around your girth, barely coherent, mouth full of you. Pumping your cock faster, until it’s throbbing and aching so desperately and angrily, and her words are sounding nicer and nicer with every passing beat. “Give up. Give me that cum. All of it.  Cum for me. Make Mommy happy. Give me what I want. Give me what I need. Give me—”
“Shut the fuck up and take it—”
“Be a good boy and beg—”
“Fuck you—”
You’re straining, for the first time lifting your hips off the sink and falling into her. Hands holding onto her head—and now her hair is just a handlebar, and you're riding her mouth for dear life, fucking into it like she doesn't have a choice. Using her, making her take you, over and over, again and again, and she’s just so happy to keep fingering herself into oblivion while you lose all tempo and pace and forcefully, clumsily wreck her throat.
Until you’re just seeing red.
Red of her hair, her lips. Red smudged up and down your cock and against your waist and all over your fucking fingers.
And then—
“Fuck you—Mommy!”
You can see it in her eyes.
You can feel it in every nerve ending.
You can taste it in the air.
It’s harsh, mean, rough. Pounding into her mouth, stretching her throat, until her nails are digging into your thighs and you’re shaking, twitching, fucking—
Cumming.
You empty yourself into her. Yunjin doesn’t flinch. She takes it. Every pulse of your orgasm, every drop of your cum. Swallows it down with a greedy gulp, again and again, until she can’t swallow anymore.
It gushes out of her mouth.
A thick rope that she can’t quite keep up with that paints those gorgeous fucking lips. Her cheeks and chin. Drips down to her neck. So fucking beautiful. Covered with your cum all over her face, and now down to her shoulder, her collarbone, and oh you’ve ruined her entire slutty outfit.
“God, fuck, Yunjin—”
And she’s dropping her pussy down onto her fingers, panting around your cock, around mouthfuls of your cum. Working her clit in quick, sharp movements until it’s just your hand tangled in her hair that’s keeping her upright.
This fucking image of her.
Mouth full of you, swallowing, choking, gagging. So fucking obscene you can’t look away. Eyes rolled back into her skull, cheeks are flaming, and she’s so shiny and wet and glazed over, and just a complete fucking mess for you.
You can’t imagine anything better.
It leaves you reeling. Standing there with your cock still out. Shaking from aftershocks that you’re not sure will ever end. Trying to catch your breath, chest heaving, eyes blurring back into clarity while you watch Yunjin return to life.
“Good boy,” she breathes, but it’s hardly smug. It’s just pure victory.
She opens her mouth. Smiles so wide. Shows you her prize. Shows you the mess she’s made, shows you everything. Moans at the taste of it, as she absorbs your flavour into her tongue. Completely dazed, mouth fucked to hell, and just strung-out and drunk on your cum. She finds the energy to swipe her tongue around her teeth, cleaning the best she can. She barely makes a dent.
And you’re still hard. Still fucking throbbing.
Her eyes never leave yours. She wants you to see.
She grins, and you're already expecting it, the victory speech. Something no doubt flirty and teasing and completely fucking filthy that will make you want to throw her over the sink and punish her tight, drenched cunt until she's the one begging and calling you Daddy.
Only, that all gets tossed out when you hear someone banging on the bathroom door.
“Everything okay in there?”
The sudden intrusion brings everything back into focus, seizes you back into a reality outside of Yunjin's cum-stained lips.
You clear your throat.
“I’m sorry, it’s my,” and you look down and Yunjin’s beaming up at you. Looking so perfect, kneeling on the cold tiles. Streaks of your cum hanging off her chin. She blows you a kiss. “My girlfriend. Just needed some immediate attention.”
And Yunjin decides to up the ante, leaning back into you. Snaking her arms around your thigh. Kissing into where you’re still so ridiculously sensitive. And then licking and sucking and—
It takes an impossible amount of effort to not scream at the top of your lungs. “We’ll be out soon, just need a couple—”
Yunjin shakes her head. Shows you both hands. Flashes all fingers.
“Ten—”
Shakes her head once more. Flashes again.
“Twenty?”
Yunjin nods.
“Twenty minutes.”
There’s a pause on the other side of the door, and you realise that this is all fucking out of control and completely unbelievable.
But still.
Yunjin’s tongue is setting you on fire, and God she’s kissing up higher, rising to her feet and she's covering every inch of your skin that she has yet to leave her mark.
You whisper-shout at her, “They’re going to break this door down.”
Yunjin laughs, and there’s no way whoever is outside the bathroom doesn’t hear it.
She removes her ruined top. Lets her bra fall to the ground. Steps out of her drenched panties. She looks like perfection.
“That’s fine,” she says, and she’s taking a hold of you, kissing you, and you can taste yourself on her lips and fuck, she’s winning again—“But you’re going to break me first.”

You Knocked, I Let You In
Tumblr media
summary : You’re not from his world—you don’t speak in vitals, don’t flinch at blood, don’t belong to the people who call him “Abbot” like it’s both a sentence and a survival tactic. But when he texts—too late, too clipped, too careful—you go. Because Jack Abbot never asks for anything, not really. And tonight, for reasons he won’t say, he wants you. A cherry-red dress. A quiet reservation. A man built to hold pressure, not affection. He’s never been good with words. But he’s about to show you everything he means.
word count : 6,839
content/warnings : 18+ only MDNI, emotionally intense sex, aftercare, oral (f receiving), protected vaginal sex, depiction of PTSD and emotional repression, grief, mention of a patient death (child), emotionally guarded older male character (Jack is in his 40s), younger female character (mid 20s), emotionally soft Jack Abbot, grounded realism, possessive tenderness, trauma-informed characterization, anddddd a lot of smut with feelings.
a/n: this one’s been collecting dust in my google docs for a while—wasn’t sure if it was any good, but figured someone out there might need it as much as I did.
You shouldn’t be here.
That’s the first thing you think when the cab pulls to a stop at the corner of 15th and Vine—where the pavement turns to gravel just before the sidewalk ends and the streetlamp hums like it’s about to go out. There’s no front porch light, no house number you can see, just a dented mailbox with the paint scraped off and a storm door that sticks if you don’t lift it by the handle.
But you’ve been here before.
Not often. Not enough. Just enough to still feel it in your legs.
The house is red brick and slouched. Duplex, probably built in the fifties. One of those old Allegheny Valley homes too stubborn to die. It leans slightly to the right, like maybe the foundation gave up a long time ago but the rest kept going out of spite.
You step out into the drizzle, heels hitting the concrete with a hollow click, and the cold April air clings to your dress like a second skin. It’s too thin for this weather, but you wore it anyway—slippery and low-backed, cherry red and just barely long enough to keep from being indecent. You don’t wear red. You’re not the kind of girl who makes a scene. But tonight you needed him to see you.
You’re still not sure why he texted.
You’re still not sure why you came.
You’re not a fixture here—you’re a flicker. The kind of girl a man like Jack Abbot never plans around. Just thinks about too often. Just calls when it’s too late to be polite.
And maybe that’s what you like about it.
Because you don’t live in a world of routines and rotas and rounds. You’re not in medicine. You don’t know what a central line is or how to read an EKG. You work at the city’s adult literacy nonprofit, helping people who slipped through cracks in the system big enough to bury them. You teach night classes in a fluorescent basement on the North Side, surrounded by broken chairs and stained carpet and students with parole bracelets and kids who need dinner by six.
It’s good work. Quiet work. Important.
But it doesn’t leave much room for wanting things just for yourself.
And Jack Abbot has never once asked you to be small.
You step carefully up the cracked incline of his driveway, heels clicking softly against the uneven concrete. Jack’s truck is parked just slightly crooked, like always—angled enough that the passenger side catches the streetlight, the front end turned a little too close to the retaining wall, like he pulled in fast and didn’t bother correcting.
You slow as you pass it.
The passenger-side mirror is fogged at the edges, streaked faintly from rain, but you lean in anyway, breathing warm against the glass to clear a patch. Your reflection stares back—lipstick still intact, not too bright, not too desperate. You smooth a hand down the front of your dress. It clings a little from the damp.
You don’t touch the mirror. You don’t need to.
Instead, you straighten your spine, cross the last few feet, and raise your hand to knock.
Once. Then again. Knuckles on wood, sharp and clean.
There’s a pause.
Then the soft clatter of a lock, then another.
Then silence.
When the door opens, he doesn’t say anything.
Just stands there.
Jack Abbot isn’t tall enough to tower, but he doesn’t need to. There’s something in the way he carries himself—shoulders slightly hunched, stance uneven from the prosthetic—that makes people instinctively give him space. Not out of fear. Out of recognition. Like they know he’s walked through something hard and quiet and didn’t come out clean on the other side.
He’s still in his black scrubs, the collar rumpled. Underneath, the cuff of a white undershirt is visible—stained faintly at the edge, like he’d wiped his hand on it without realizing. Could be blood. Could be iodine. Could be coffee. He hasn’t shaved in days. There’s a cut healing at his jawline, a bruise blooming high on one forearm. And his eyes—that slow, searching stare that never stays still—carry the quiet of someone who’s watched too many people bleed out under fluorescent light and learned to keep his voice steady anyway.
He doesn’t speak. Just stands there, watching you like he’s waiting to see whether you’ll flinch first.
He looks like he just got off shift.
He looks like he never left it.
“Hi,” you say.
He doesn’t move. Doesn’t blink.
His gaze drops. Tracks the fabric. The way it clings to your hips. The slit at your thigh. Then climbs again, slowly, until he’s looking at your mouth like he’s remembering something that never should’ve been said out loud.
“I’m not in the mood for small talk,” he says, voice rough and clipped, like it’s meant to keep you at a distance.
You arch a brow. “Relax. I wasn’t planning to ask how your day was. You texted me, remember?”
“That was an hour ago.”
“No, it wasn’t.”
He looks at you, unmoving. “I typed it an hour ago. Hit send ten minutes ago.”
You snort—just barely. “Jesus. You ghost me for a month, then get pissy I didn’t teleport here?”
Jack doesn’t flinch. Just watches you. Like he’s trying to count all the ways this is going to be a bad idea.
You step past him, shoulder brushing his chest. You feel the heat of him—his restraint like a wall you could kick in if you wanted to.
“I’m not here to coddle whatever brooding thing you’ve got going on tonight,” you say, casting a glance back over your shoulder. “If you wanted silence, you could’ve kept the draft in your messages.”
Jack shifts—just enough that you notice. Eyes steady, weight shifted, like he’s tracking something under your skin.
“You wearing anything under that?”
You smile with your teeth. “You planning to find out or just stand there being weird about it?”
He exhales through his nose—short, sharp. Glances down once, then back up.
Then steps aside and pushes the door the rest of the way open.
“You’re still late,” he says.
“And you’re still full of shit,” you reply, walking in without waiting.
The door clicks shut behind you.
You shrug your coat off and let it hang on the crooked hook by the entryway. His silence follows you like steam—slow, clinging, heavy in the chest. You’re halfway into the living room before you realize he hasn’t moved—Jack is staring at you like he’s trying not to say the thing he’ll regret. Like he already knows how this ends and is still pretending he has a choice.
You turn.
You arch a brow. “You gonna hover all night, or…?”
He doesn’t answer right away. Just moves—slowly—toward the coffee table. His movements are clipped, functional, like he’s still coming down from shift adrenaline.
“You hungry?” he asks.
You blink. “What?”
“I made a reservation.”
You snort. “At a place with silverware?”
“Unfortunately.”
“You—” you blink again, actually thrown for once, “—you made a reservation at a real-ass restaurant.”
“Look, I didn’t expect you to show.”
You tilt your head. “But you made the reservation anyway.”
He scratches at the back of his neck, not looking at you. “They had online booking. It wasn’t emotional.”
“So what? You were gonna eat coq au vin alone and pretend it was character development?”
He finally looks at you, deadpan. “I was gonna sit at the bar, drink overpriced scotch, and ignore the people having birthday dinners behind me. It’s practically therapy.”
You laugh. Actually laugh. And his eyes flick to your mouth like he forgot they do that.
“I thought we were walking,” you say.
“We are,” he says. “To my truck.”
“Oh, romantic.”
“You wanna walk through the Strip District in that dress?” he asks, not even looking at you. “I’m all for a dramatic entrance, but I’m not in the mood to commit a felony in public tonight.”
You smirk. “You think I need a bodyguard?”
“I think if anyone says the wrong thing to you,” Jack mutters, eyes flicking down the length of your dress again, “I’ll end up punching someone in the face—and I’m already covered in someone else’s blood.”
You go still for half a breath.
And he catches it. Like a pulse under your skin.
His jaw works once, then he exhales through his nose—tired, sharp.
“I’ll be quick,” he says. “Don’t touch anything.”
He disappears down the hallway, one boot clunking against the baseboard, prosthetic hissing faintly as it shifts with his stride. You don’t sit. You pace, slow and quiet, absorbing his house like it’s telling you something he won’t.
The walls are neutral. Medical journals stacked beside a box of ammo he hasn’t unpacked. Framed medals, yes—but not displayed. Tucked in a dusty cabinet beside an unopened bottle of whiskey and a Ziploc full of blood donation cards. There’s a water bottle on the counter with his name on the cap in someone else’s handwriting. There’s a sticky note on the fridge that says Don’t forget Friday—Robby.
You lean against the kitchen doorway.
There’s still a black bag by the door. Trauma pack. Half-zipped. Red tape on the handles. He’s always got one ready—even when he’s off.
When he comes back, he’s not dressed for candlelight.
He’s dressed like himself.
Black button-down, sleeves rolled halfway. Dark jeans. That same leather jacket you once saw him use to splint someone’s arm after a three-car pileup. His hair’s still wet, but pushed back now. He smells like cedar soap—something clean, sharp, bought on purpose—and something darker beneath it, like heat and metal and memory. Not cologne. Just him. The kind of scent that lingers even when he doesn’t.
He doesn’t smile when he sees you.
But he does stop. And look.
“You good?” he asks.
You grab your coat from the hook. “Better than you.”
“Doubt that,” he says, already at the door. “I’ve had three cups of hospital coffee and a fentanyl OD cough in my face. That’s called building resilience.”
“I think that’s called exposure therapy.”
“No, that’s what this is,” he mutters, opening the front door for you.
Outside, the rain softens everything—headlights, corners, voices. The kind of night that makes even the city feel like it's whispering.
Jack walks ahead, boots hitting the concrete with that uneven cadence you’ve learned by feel, not sound. You trail behind, pulling your coat tighter, watching his back, the broad line of his shoulders under the jacket. He doesn't glance back, but he doesn’t need to. He knows you're there.
He opens the passenger door to his truck. Holds it open without fanfare.
You hesitate, one foot still on the sidewalk.
“You really made a reservation?” you ask.
Jack nods once. Doesn’t look at you. “Yeah.”
You narrow your eyes, stepping closer. “So we actually have a table?”
He glances at you now, sharp and sure. “If I walk in with you in that dress, they’ll give us one.”
Then he shuts the door gently behind you, like he’s sealing something in.
The restaurant is warm and low-lit, the kind of place where the menu doesn’t have prices and everyone talks like they’re trying not to wake a baby. A converted warehouse with exposed brick, matte silverware, and waitstaff in black aprons who glide, not walk.
You step in first, rain-slick and radiant under the vestibule light, and Jack follows just behind. His presence doesn’t just fill a room. It tilts it.
The hostess does a quick scan, eyes pausing on your dress, then on Jack’s face, then on the two of you together—like she knows better than to ask questions. She checks the list, but Jack cuts in, voice low.
“Abbot. Table for two.”
Her posture straightens. “Right this way.”
The table is small. Intimate. Tucked into a corner where the candlelight flickers just enough to make the shadows feel intentional. You slide into your seat across from him. The tablecloth brushes your thighs. Jack drops into the chair like he’s still trying to convince his body to sit still.
You watch him take in the room like a trauma bay—sizing up exits, memorizing sightlines, cataloguing who’s already drunk and who might start something. You’re not surprised. Jack doesn’t know how to be off-duty. Not really.
“I’ve never seen you eat anywhere with cloth napkins,” you murmur.
He lifts his eyes, deadpan. “I can evolve.”
You lean back. “Is that what this is? Personal growth?”
Jack unfolds his napkin like he’s done it a hundred times. “It’s carbs and a distraction.”
“And me?”
He looks at you for a long second. “A complication.”
You smirk. “Careful. I might put that on a dating profile.”
He doesn’t smile—but his eyes betray him. That flicker of something darker. Hunger, maybe. Or memory.
A waiter appears—tall, the kind of man who probably judges how you hold a fork. He hands you menus and starts his monologue, but you only half-hear it. Your eyes are on Jack. He hasn’t looked away from you once.
When the waiter leaves, Jack doesn’t reach for the menu.
You do.
“What?” you ask, without looking up. “You don’t read?”
“I already know what I want,” he says.
You freeze for half a second.
Then flip the page. “You always this forward in public?”
Jack shrugs. “Just forward enough.”
You glance up. “You’re enjoying this.”
“I’m trying not to,” he says quietly.
Silence folds in between you—soft, ambient, but charged. You can hear the clink of cutlery, low jazz humming from the ceiling speakers, the faint hiss of water being poured into someone else’s glass. Jack shifts in his seat—not restless, just recalibrating. You recognize that posture. He’s about to say something he’ll pretend didn’t matter.
“You look good,” he says finally.
You meet his eyes. “You already said that.”
“I didn’t.”
You tilt your head. “Thought you didn’t do compliments.”
“I don’t.”
“Then what’s this?”
Jack leans forward slightly, elbows on the table. His voice is quieter now, more grounded.
“This is me trying not to go home with your dress still in the seat crease of my truck.”
You’re warm now. Not from the wine. From him. From the way his gaze doesn’t drop, doesn’t flinch, doesn’t ask.
“I thought you wanted this to be civilized,” you say.
Jack exhales, slow and sharp. “I wanted it to be public. That’s not the same thing.”
You lean in, just enough that the candlelight touches your collarbone.
“So what happens after dessert?” you ask, sweetly.
Jack’s mouth curves—not into a smile. Something more dangerous.
“You think I’m gonna make it to dessert?”
Jack doesn’t touch his wine. Just traces the rim of the glass with the side of his thumb, like he’s giving his hands something to do besides reach for you.
You, on the other hand, sip yours slow. Watch him over the edge like you’re still deciding if you’re going to let this happen.
“You always this twitchy at dinner?” you ask, setting the glass down.
“I’m not twitchy,” he mutters.
You raise your brow.
“I’m alert.”
You grin. “You know what civilians call that?”
“Hypervigilance?”
“Therapy’s working.”
That gets him. Just a flicker—something behind the eyes, that half-breath pause he does when he’s almost about to smile. But he shakes his head like he’s brushing it off. Always brushing it off.
“You’re good at that,” he says.
“At what?”
“Getting under my skin.”
You blink—caught off guard by the honesty in his voice. He doesn’t say it like an accusation. He says it like it’s inevitable. Like it already happened.
“I’m not trying to,” you say, quieter now.
“Yeah,” Jack says, eyes locked on you. “That’s the problem.”
A beat. The waiter brings bread. You ignore it.
Jack leans back a little. Not relaxed—never relaxed—but more settled. Like whatever this is, he’s decided to let it stretch a little longer.
“You like what you do?” he asks.
You tilt your head. “That a real question or small talk?”
“Real,” he says, without missing a beat. “You do this thing where your shoulders drop when you talk about work. Even when you say it’s exhausting. I noticed.”
You go still.
Then—cautious: “You remember what I do?”
Jack meets your eyes, unwavering. “Adult literacy program. GED prep. Half your students can’t keep consistent hours because they work night shifts or care for their kids. One of them asked you to help fill out a DMV form last week and didn’t know how to sign their own name.”
You stare at him.
“I listen,” Jack says, voice steady. “Doesn’t mean I know what to say back.”
You look down for a moment. His words hit somewhere too soft, too unguarded. You weren’t expecting softness—not from him. But here it is, tucked under the barbed wire.
“I thought you were half-listening that night,” you say. “The one where you were icing your shoulder and bleeding into your scrub top.”
“I was bleeding into someone else’s scrub top,” he corrects, dry. “Mine was already ruined.”
You smile. “Still. I thought I was talking to the wall.”
“You were,” he says. Then softer: “But the wall has ears.”
You both fall quiet again—but not from discomfort. From weight.
Jack shifts forward slightly, elbows on the table now, posture subtly open in a way that would go unnoticed by anyone else. But you notice. Because you know how rare it is.
“You ever want to do something else?” he asks.
You shrug. “Sometimes. But I like that I get to be useful. And I like that it’s mine.”
He nods. Absorbs that.
“What about you?” you ask. “You ever think about walking away?”
His fingers tighten just slightly around the water glass.
“Every night,” he says. “But I don’t.”
“Why not?”
Jack looks up at you then, sharp and tired and honest.
“Because the minute I stop showing up,” he says, “someone else has to hold the pressure. And I don’t trust most people to not fuck that up.”
You don’t reply right away.
Instead, you let your foot brush his under the table. Just barely. A whisper of contact.
He doesn’t move. Doesn’t pull back.
“You ever let anyone take care of you?” you ask.
He huffs a breath—almost a laugh, but not quite.
“You offering?”
“I’m not a nurse.”
“No,” Jack says, voice dropping a register. “You’re worse. You see through it.”
You look at him across the table.
Candlelight catches in the corner of his eye. He’s not looking at your mouth anymore. He’s looking at you like he’s memorizing you in case this is the last time he gets to do it.
That scares you more than anything.
But you don’t look away.
“You want to get out of here?” you ask, voice low.
Jack doesn’t move.
Doesn’t blink.
“Yeah,” he says. “But I’m not rushing.”
You swallow. “Why not?”
He leans in. Just slightly. His voice soft now. Barely a murmur.
“Because if I take you home right now,” he says, “I’m not letting you leave before sunrise. And I’m trying to be good.”
Your heart trips.
“But you’re not good,” you whisper.
Jack stares at you like you’ve already undone him.
“No,” he says. “But I want to be. With you, I want to be.”
Dinner’s done.
The plates are cleared. The wine is low in the glass. Whatever tension was humming earlier has now settled into something denser—gravity, almost. Like the weight of what neither of you is saying has taken up its own seat at the table.
You reach for your purse when the check comes.
Jack watches you. Doesn’t move.
“I’ll get it,” you say.
“No,” he says.
You blink. “Jack—”
He tilts his head—just enough to be a warning. “Don’t.”
“Why not?”
“I invited you.”
“Since when do you play by date rules?”
He leans back in his chair, eyes fixed on you. The collar of his button-down is open just slightly now, sleeves pushed up. His forearms rest against the edge of the table—still, tense. You can see the cut healing along his knuckle, the way his jaw shifts like he’s chewing back a longer sentence.
Then he says, voice low and level:
“I had a kid code on me last night. No warning. Collapsed mid-handoff.”
You stop moving.
Jack doesn’t blink. Doesn’t shift.
“You ever do chest compressions on someone who still has their baby teeth?”
The air around you goes sharp. Quiet.
His voice doesn’t waver. “It’s been a long fucking month. And you—” he lifts his chin slightly, like pointing at you without pointing, “—are the first good thing to happen to me that I didn’t have to stitch shut or call time on.”
You don’t speak.
Not right away.
Jack exhales slowly. Not dramatic. Just tired.
“So please,” he finishes, softer now. “Let me pay for your damn meal.”
You sit back, lips parting—but the words don’t come.
He doesn’t smirk. He doesn’t soften. He just looks at you like he needs you to let him have this.
So you nod. Once.
“Okay,” you murmur.
Jack signals the waiter with a tilt of his fingers and slides his card into the checkbook before the guy even finishes approaching.
When he turns back to you, his voice is lighter. Barely. “Thanks for not fighting me on it.”
“I figured you’d pull the dead kid card.”
“I didn’t,” he mutters. “I pulled the I care about you card. You just weren’t expecting it.”
You shake your head, smiling now. “I really wasn’t.”
Outside, the streets are still slick. Reflections of stoplights ripple in the puddles. You walk side by side in silence, coats tight, his hand resting near your lower back without ever quite touching. Not possessive. Just... present.
He unlocks the truck with a low beep. You slide in, silk sticking slightly to the seat.
Jack closes the door behind you, then rounds to his side. The interior smells like his jacket. Clean, worn-in, edged with cedar and something darker.
He starts the engine.
Doesn’t drive yet.
His hand rests on the steering wheel. The other on the gearshift.
You’re watching him. And you know he knows.
“You okay?” you ask, voice soft now.
He doesn’t answer immediately.
Just taps once on the steering wheel. Then again.
Then: “I haven’t had you in my house since Feburary.”
You tilt your head. “You keeping track?”
“I remember things that mess me up.”
You stare at him. “That what I do?”
Jack finally turns to look at you.
And it’s there—all of it. The restraint, the need, the fear, the ache. The thing in his chest he’s been keeping taped down with dry humor and trauma protocol.
“You make me feel like there’s a version of my life I don’t hate,” he says. “That counts for something.”
Your breath catches.
And that’s when he shifts into gear.
The drive is quiet.
Not uncomfortable. Just dense. His hand rests near yours on the console. The city passes by in wet blurs of neon and old brick and memory. And when you reach his street—familiar now, in that strange way trauma and attraction make things sacred—you realize you’re holding your breath.
He parks in the same crooked way he always does.
Then cuts the engine.
But doesn’t move to open the door.
You glance over. “You gonna make me sit here all night?”
He looks at you—long, measured.
Then says, “You sure you’re ready to come back inside?”
You don’t answer.
You just open your door.
The front door clicks shut behind you, and suddenly the quiet feels thick. Like the space inside his house is closing around you both, absorbing what little restraint you walked in with. You’re in the same hallway you stood in earlier—same floorboards, same shadows, same air—but your pulse is different now. Everything is.
Jack tosses his keys into the bowl by the door. The clatter echoes.
He doesn’t turn around right away. Just stands there, head down slightly, like he’s bracing. Rain beads along his collar, catching in his jawline stubble. You can see the tension in the back of his neck, the way his hands flex once at his sides and then still.
You don’t wait for him to move.
You step up behind him slowly, the hem of your dress brushing your knees, heels soundless now on the rug.
“Jack,” you say quietly.
He turns.
And the way he looks at you—it’s not clean. It’s not soft. It’s wrecked. Like you’ve been haunting him for weeks and now you’re finally standing here and he doesn’t know where to put the want.
“I think about you,” he says, voice low, raw. “Every fucking night.”
You stare at him. “Then why didn’t you call me sooner?”
“Because I knew I wouldn’t just want to hear your voice.”
That lands between you like weight.
Neither of you speak.
You just look at each other in the dark. And then, without warning, his hand finds your waist.
He pulls you toward him in one solid motion—not rough, just… inevitable. The kind of motion that’s been held back for too long.
Your bodies slot together like you remember each other. Like your hips already know where to rest against his. His hand stays at your waist, fingers firm but not possessive. The other lifts to your jaw, thumb skimming the edge of your cheekbone.
He doesn’t kiss you yet.
He just looks at you.
And it’s too much.
“Say something,” you whisper.
Jack swallows hard. “I’m trying not to fuck this up.”
“Then don’t.”
His fingers tense. You feel it at your hip. In your pulse. In the way your breath catches when he finally closes the last inch of space and kisses you.
It’s slow at first.
Not sweet.
Just devouted.
His mouth moves against yours like he’s trying to memorize the taste, like this is the last time and he wants to make sure it’s enough to live on. His hand slides up the back of your neck, into your hair, anchoring you there like he doesn't trust himself to stop.
You moan softly into him, and his breath catches.
“You don’t know what you’re doing to me,” he murmurs against your lips.
“Sure I do,” you breathe. “That’s why I wore the dress.”
He laughs once—low, ragged—but it dies quickly in his throat. The sound is swallowed by your mouth, by the feel of you pressing closer.
You walk him backward without thinking. Past the narrow hallway, past the living room. His hand is on your waist again. Your fingers find the buttons on his shirt but don’t undo them yet.
The house is quiet except for breathing. His and yours. Tangled.
You hit the doorframe of his bedroom.
But he doesn’t open it.
Not yet.
He rests his forehead against yours. He’s breathing hard now—like he’s keeping himself caged on purpose.
“I don’t want to rush it,” he says again. But this time it doesn’t sound like hesitation. It sounds like pain.
“You’re not.”
Jack pulls back half an inch to look at you. His eyes are blown wide. His mouth’s a little open. He looks—not undone—but stripped back.
“I can’t do this halfway,” he says. “Not with you.”
“You’re not supposed to,” you whisper. “That’s the whole point.”
He lets out a long, harsh breath.
And then—finally—he opens the door behind you and pulls you through it like he’s choosing to burn for it.
Jack’s bedroom is dark. Not in a neglectful way—just lived-in. A man’s space. Clean but uncurated. Worn boots under the chair. A folded sweatshirt on the dresser. An open book spine-down on the nightstand: Emergency Procedures & Field Triage. Pages marked in pencil. Of course.
He kicks the door shut behind you.
And for a moment, he just stands there. Breathing. Looking at you like you’re still some unsolvable thing he’s scared to touch wrong.
You move first.
Hands sliding up his chest, fingers finding the edge of his shirt, palms flattening over his heart.
“You sure?” you ask again—voice low, but steady.
Jack’s hands come to your waist, rough and warm. He leans in close, mouth hovering just above yours.
“I’ve been sure since the second you knocked on my door,” he says. Then lower—almost broken: “And I hate that I waited.”
The kiss this time is hungry.
Less control. More need. His tongue slides against yours like he’s chasing something deep, something he couldn’t name even if he tried. You press into him, gasp when his hand fists in the side of your dress, gripping like he’s terrified you’ll vanish mid-breath.
“Take this off,” he murmurs against your mouth. It’s not a question. It’s a plea, said like it’s been echoing in him for weeks.
You reach behind your back, unzip slowly—eyes locked to his the whole time.
Jack steps back half a foot. Watches.
The dress drops. Pools around your ankles.
You’re standing there in lace and nothing else.
He breathes in once, shallow.
“Jesus,” he mutters, voice wrecked. “You wore that for me.”
You nod. “Of course I did.”
His eyes rake down your body—every curve, every detail. His hand lifts. Hovers near your hip. Doesn’t touch yet.
“I don’t know what I did to get this,” he says.
“You survived,” you whisper. “That’s enough.”
He lets out a harsh breath—something close to a sound of grief. And then his hand lands on your bare waist. Heavy. Certain.
He kisses down your neck—slow, biting when you moan, tongue smoothing after like apology. His hands find your back, unclasping your bra in one practiced motion, sliding the straps down your arms like they’re made of silk. You shiver. Not from cold. From him.
“You’re so warm,” he murmurs against your skin.
“You always run cold,” you whisper back, breath shaking.
Jack sinks to his knees.
You inhale sharply.
“Jack—”
“I need to feel you first,” he mutters. “Need to taste you. You don’t get it—I’ve been thinking about this for months.”
You look down—he’s already kissing the inside of your thigh, just above the lace. Soft at first. Then harder. Like he’s mapping something. Marking you.
You gasp when his teeth graze the edge of your panties.
He groans.
“You’re already shaking,” he says, voice full of that broken admiration he doesn’t know how to hide. “That for me?”
“All for you,” you whisper.
He slides the lace down your legs, slow. Watches you step out of them.
Then his hands grip behind your thighs and he pulls you against his mouth.
His tongue is everywhere. Slow circles, deep flicks, his mouth moving like he’s memorizing you from the inside out. One hand holds your thigh wide, the other digs into your ass. When your hand finds his hair, he groans against you—louder now, messier. You can feel how much he needs this in the way he licks like it’s the only thing keeping him tethered to the ground.
“Jack—Jack,” you gasp, hips twitching, thighs trembling, “I—fuck—I’m close—”
“Good,” he growls. “You should be.”
When you come, you come with your fingers tight in his hair and your head thrown back, gasping his name like it’s a secret you weren’t supposed to tell. He keeps going. Slower. Gentler. Licking you through it with reverence, with dedication, with the kind of awe he’ll never say out loud.
When he stands again, his mouth is wet, jaw flushed, eyes glassy.
You’re breathing hard.
“You okay?” he asks. Quiet. Real.
“Need you to fuck me,” you say. “Now.”
Jack swears. Low and harsh.
“You’re gonna kill me,” he mutters, pulling his shirt over his head, tossing it aside.
“No,” you whisper, stepping into him again, naked and still shaking. “I’m gonna save you.”
Jack lifts you onto the bed like it’s instinct. His hands under your thighs, his body bracketed against yours—solid, tense, hot. The mattress dips beneath your weight, and you stretch out beneath him, bare and burning, chest rising and falling like your ribs don’t quite know how to contain the want.
You prop yourself on your elbows. “Take your pants off.”
He stares at you for a long beat. His chest rises.
Then—low, cracked: “Say it again.”
“Jack—” you whisper.
“No. Say it like you need it.”
Your breath stutters.
“I need to feel you,” you say, voice raw now. “I need you inside me. Right now.”
He swears under his breath. Voice frayed. “Fuck, okay.”
His jeans are gone fast—belt unclasped, zipper shoved down, cotton briefs pushed low. You watch the whole thing with your bottom lip caught between your teeth, eyes dragging over the hard line of his stomach, the blunt, heavy length of him curved against his thigh. He’s thick. Flushed. And already leaking.
“Jesus,” you breathe. “You were hard the whole time?”
Jack climbs back over you, jaw clenched, one hand bracing beside your head. “Since you knocked on my door.”
You reach down between you, wrap your hand around him.
He groans—full-throated, wrecked—and drops his head to your shoulder like he’s just been shot through.
“Shit. Don’t tease me right now,” he mutters.
“I’m not,” you say. “I want you. Like this.”
He looks up at you. Eyes dark. Pupils blown wide.
“Condom’s in the drawer,” he says roughly. “Top left.”
You nod, stretch, grab it. Tear it open.
Your fingers brush his cock as you roll it on, slow and deliberate, and the hiss he lets out could bring a lesser man to his knees.
You look up at him, chest bare, thighs parted, breath gone.
“Jack. Now.”
He doesn’t tease.
He presses forward, one hand guiding himself to your entrance, the other gripping the back of your thigh to anchor you wide for him. You’re wet—already soaked—and the first push is hard enough to make your whole body arch.
“Fuck—” Jack grits. “You’re—shit, baby—you’re so tight.”
You grab his shoulder, nails digging into skin. “Don’t stop. Don’t even think about stopping.”
“I wasn’t going to,” he growls.
He thrusts in fully, slow and deep, and your body takes him—inch by inch, stretch by stretch, until your hips are flush and his forehead is pressed to your collarbone.
Neither of you moves for a second. You just breathe.
And then he starts to fuck you.
It’s not soft. It’s hungry. Measured. Deep. Like he’s trying to get further inside than flesh will allow. Every snap of his hips pushes a breathless moan from your throat. His hand fists the sheet beside your head; his other arm cages you in. Your legs wrap high around his waist, pulling him closer, closer, like you don’t want a single inch of him wasted.
“You feel—” he grunts, “—so fucking good.”
You rake your nails down his back. “Harder.”
He obeys.
Each thrust now hits deeper, heavier, like he’s giving you every part of himself that the world hasn’t already taken. Your breath breaks. Your thighs tremble. His hand finally slips between you, two fingers finding your clit with brutal precision.
“Jack—Jack—I’m gonna—fuck—”
He’s panting now. Losing rhythm. But he doesn't let up.
“Come on,” he grits. “Let me feel you. Give it to me. Give it.”
You break.
You come hard—legs shaking, hands gripping, eyes squeezed shut, crying out his name like it’s the only one you’ve ever learned how to say.
He follows.
With a hoarse, broken moan, he buries himself deep and stays there—body locked tight against yours, pulse stuttering hard enough to feel in his throat, jaw pressed to your shoulder like the release ripped something loose he didn’t know was still held shut. He doesn’t pull out. Doesn’t even shift. Just keeps his arms cinched around your waist like he’s bracing for impact that never came.
You thread your fingers through his hair—slow, grounding. He doesn't speak right away. When he does, it’s quiet. Raw.
“I don’t…” He swallows. “I don’t know how to be good at this.”
You press a kiss to his temple. “You don’t have to be,” you whisper. “Just don’t stop trying.”
Jack stays inside you, barely breathing, the tremor still in his chest. His weight settles over you—not heavy, not crushing. Just solid. Protective. One arm under your neck. The other spread wide across your ribs like he’s still counting them to make sure you didn’t break.
You let him stay there. Let him breathe. Let him feel it. Because you know Jack Abbot doesn’t get to feel often—he just responds. Just survives.
Eventually, he lifts his head. Barely.
You meet his eyes.
They’re a little bloodshot. A little dazed. And so fucking open it nearly knocks the wind out of you.
“You okay?” you whisper.
He nods, slow. “Yeah.”
Then, quieter: “Yeah. Just—fuck.”
You smile. “That’s articulate.”
“I’m not built for articulate,” Jack mutters, brushing a strand of hair from your forehead. “Especially not when I’m inside someone who just ruined me.”
You arch a brow. “Ruin’s a strong word.”
“You don’t see what I look like right now.”
“You look good.”
Jack huffs—half a laugh, half a sigh. “I feel like I ran a marathon with a collapsed lung.”
You trace your fingers along the edge of his jaw. He lets you.
“Didn’t peg you as a cuddler,” you murmur.
“I’m not.”
“You haven’t moved.”
“I will,” he says, but doesn’t. His hand flexes on your hip. “Eventually.”
He eases out of you a few minutes later, slowly, carefully—like he’s handling an injury he doesn’t want to aggravate. His fingers trail down your thigh, steady and warm, like he’s checking for damage. When your breath catches, he pauses.
“Too much?” he asks, voice low.
You shake your head. “No. Just… full.”
Jack exhales, something quiet and wrecked. He bends, presses a kiss to the inside of your knee. Not performative. Not playful. Just soft. Reflexive. Like his body doesn’t know how else to say I needed this.
Then he’s up. Moving efficiently. Still naked but somehow still Jack—controlled, composed, capable, even after being completely undone.
He comes back with a towel, a glass of water, and one of his black undershirts. Doesn’t make a show of it. Just kneels on the bed and gently wipes between your legs, slow and careful, like you’re something he’d bleed for again if it meant he could keep you whole.
You let him. Let him take care of you the way you knew he would if he ever let you close enough.
You sit back against the headboard once you’re clean, his shirt pulled over your head. Your legs are still shaky. Your breath still catching now and then in your chest.
Jack returns to the bed wordlessly.
He doesn’t sprawl. Doesn’t lean. He sits beside you like something important’s about to come loose in him if he doesn’t say it now.
You look over at him.
“You do this for everyone?” you ask, teasing—but it’s soft, not sharp.
He doesn’t laugh. Doesn’t take the bait.
He looks at you.
And says, plainly: “I don’t have people over like this.”
That stills you.
He goes on, voice lower now, like it’s hard to say aloud. “You know that. You’ve always known that.”
You don’t reply right away.
Because you do know. You knew the first time he kissed you like he wasn’t supposed to. You knew the second time, when he didn’t say your name but held your hand under the table at a bar. You knew every time he pushed you away and still showed up when it mattered.
“I know,” you say. Quiet. Sure.
He looks at you again—really looks—and it’s all there. The weight of it. The risk. The want.
“I’m not fucking leaving,” Jack says finally. “And you’re not just here for the night. Not after that. I can’t—” He breaks off. Swallows. “I can’t pretend you’re just passing through. I don’t want to.”
You lean into him. Let your head rest on his shoulder. The shirt smells like him—soap, sweat, sex, something that lives deep in the cotton, like the way old homes hold heat.
His arm comes around you without hesitation. Holds you firm. Solid. One hand at the small of your back. Like if he doesn’t keep touching you, it won’t be real.
“Okay,” you whisper.
And he kisses your temple—slow, lingering.
Not like a man who needs sex.
Like a man who needed you.
Like a man who’s been surviving too long alone and finally, finally found something he’s willing to stay for.

Sirius Black x fem!reader ♡ 870 words
Anxiety crackles in your fingertips as you dial Sirius’ number. Every ring feels like a year off your life.
Sirius picks up on the third. “Beautiful,” he says in greeting.
“Hey.” Your voice is light automatically, reluctant to make things seem dire when they might not be. “Are you busy?”
“Never too busy for you.” You can hear him moving away from some noise. A television, maybe, or a group of people talking. “You headed home already?”
“Mhm, yeah. Are you…where are you?”
“At the pub on King Street. You should come join, James is buying.”
You hear some playful protest, presumably from down the table. ‘James is buying,’ he says—just invite the whole bloody town, why don’t you? You stop listening as Sirius makes some jibe back.
Kings Street isn’t far from you. You turn a corner and pick up your pace.
“Yeah, I’ll come,” you say. “Maybe, um, would you want to meet me halfway?”
It’s an odd request, coming from you. You practically hear Sirius register this, his chair audibly scraping back and the voices in the background growing quieter as he moves away from them. His tone says it, too. “Yeah, baby, ‘course. What’s up?”
“I’m okay,” you say swiftly, though you don’t know if that’s strictly true. You don’t feel very okay. But it seems a silly thing to act that way when nothing has happened. “I’m just, I’m…” You lower your voice a tad. “I think maybe this guy is following me? I don’t know.”
“Following you?” Sirius sounds outside, now, the crowd noise dying away entirely. “Where are you coming from?”
“I’m coming down Dalling now,” you reply, loud enough that the man about twenty feet behind might be able to hear. “Passing Blythe.”
“Okay, I’m coming. Is he walking close to you?”
“Not very. It’s probably fine, I’m just…”
“I’m coming,” Sirius says again. “Stay on with me, yeah?”
You do, though neither of you speak after that. Sirius’ speaker fills with the rushing of air, like movement, and you suspect if he was listening all he’d hear was your controlled breathing down the line. You’re afraid to look behind you any more than you already have. Occasionally, though, you catch a glance in a storefront window angled just right. You convince yourself your pursuer is gaining.
You turn the corner onto Kings Street, about to update Sirius over the phone when a figure crashes into you.
You take in a panicky breath, throat tightening on a scream, as hands land on your shoulders to steady you. Sirius has an odd look on his face, alarm fading to relief in the second before he hauls you to his chest.
“Sorry.” He sounds breathless, like he’s been running. “I’m sorry. Hi, baby.”
“Hi.” You clutch at him. You wonder if you might be shaking. “Do you—do you see him? Blue shirt.”
“I see him.” Sirius’ hand splays protectively over your mid back. He keeps you pressed close to him, staring your pursuer down over your shoulder. You know the power of a Sirius Black glare. You’ve never been on the receiving end of a real one, thankfully, but you’ve seen it do its work on occasion. You don’t envy the other man.
“I don’t know for sure if he was following me,” you murmur. “He’s just been there for a long time. It was making me nervous.”
“I think he was.” Sirius’ tone is also quiet, though not infirm. “He’s seen us, though, I think he’s about to turn. Just a second, lovely.” He kisses your forehead, his grip never loosening. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you say, though your hold isn’t easing either.
Sirius kisses your head again. You feel the breath he lets out fan warmly over your skin. “He turned. He’s gone.”
You squeeze him impossibly tighter, frantic with relief. You’re definitely shaking.
“He’s gone.” Sirius gives you a good press before adjusting his hold, keeping his arm around your shoulders but pointing you toward the pub. “It’s okay. Fuck, I’m glad you called. I was scared I wouldn’t get to you in time, but you were moving faster than I gave you credit for.” He rubs the flat of your chest where you’d collided with him. “Sorry for ramming into you.”
“Don’t be sorry,” you chide, keeping practically melded to his side as you walk. “Thank you for coming. Really.”
Your boyfriend tsks. “Course, sweetness. How’d you end up walking home by yourself, anyways?” His tone turns a bit chiding, the sort you suspect would be worse if Sirius weren’t still feeling sorry for you. “You can always call me, you know that.”
Sirius doesn’t like when you walk anywhere alone, especially at night. You do it more often than he knows. You might do it a tad less often for a while, though.
“I know,” you say, contritely enough that he kisses your head again, a truce bestowed. “Just, thank you.”
“Stop with that.” He pulls you closer to his side playfully. “You don’t have to thank me, you freak. I hope you are ready to tell tales of my heroism, though. I just got up and ran out without saying anything; James is going to have lots of questions.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
summ. you were once top 2 on your site, but luckily for you, a mysterious man suddenly brought you back to number 1. but the last thing you expected was for that man to be your coworker you hated!

HELP also fixing any mistakes later.. sorry in advance !!
Tumblr media
“A-are you sure this is safe?” Caleb stuttered, glancing back at Zayne who just pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed.
“It is safe. Relax. You’re the one who wanted to try something new, so I did my research and found this.”
“Are you sure I won't–”
But before he could finish his sentence another menacing look from Zayne darted past him. Caleb zipped his lips shut and hesitantly brought his shaky fingers to his mouse, dragging the cursor to the ‘sign up’ button and in a click he was in.
A display of explicit thumbnails filled his whole screen, Caleb’s eyes twisted in desire, a goop of drool dripped down his lips, and he didn’t even notice it yet.
He examined every pixel, his eyes darting from every angle he could capture. He scrolled through the page, his finger aimlessly clicking everywhere but before he could continue any further, Zayne cleared his throat from behind.
Caleb flinched, he removed his hand off his mouse and turned to Zayne who was just staring at him with his hand out in front of him. An annoyed sigh escaped his lips and he opened the drawers of his desk and pulled out a file, giving it to Zayne, but before he could grab it, Caleb pulled it back.
“Uh-uh,” he tuts, mockingly waving the paper in front of Zayne, “I’ll give you this if you give me some money, alright?”
“Money? Didn’t I give you this website?” Zayne mumbled, his eyes flickered on the file—of office work needed for next week—in Caleb’s hand and tried reaching for it, but accidentally stumbled on his foot and landed against Caleb.
But Zayne must’ve misclicked something when he used his hands for support, mistakenly smashing his large palm against the keyboard. The screen illuminated with the three dots chasing each other in a circle, and before Caleb could close it, a pre-recorded live stream of a beautiful girl was on display for him.
Caleb's hand ghosted over his mouse as he watched the video in awe. Since the streamer was faceless–well, had a mask, there wasn't much for him to depict from there, but Caleb felt like he hit the jackpot. He mumbled dirty words under his breath, scanned every crevice of his monitor, he was just so captivated by the video he didn't even notice Zayne slip the files away from his fingers.
“Zay–uh, the money? Please… I’m only going to try something, I promise I'll pay you back.” the rest of his speech left out in a mutter as his eyes stayed locked on the pretty girl on his screen.
Zayne sighed and shook his head in disbelief, “Fine, this is a one time thing though, don't ask me again.”
Caleb nodded and the door clicked shut behind him.
Oh he was so going to enjoy this.
Caleb knew he shouldn’t have watched practically every single one of your videos in one night. Though he did hold himself back and saved just a couple for the next day, he still wanted to see more of his faceless girl.
But after binging most of your videos he found out your schedule and thank god Zayne introduced him to this site a day before your next stream was going to happen.
Caleb draped his coat over his shoulder as he was texting Zayne about the payment, all he needed to do was spoil and support you.
There was a thing on the site where whoever has the most total donations from their streams gets to be on a leaderboard, you were just at the top 2, nearing to number one, and Caleb needed to change that immediately.
Eventually, Caleb made it to work. He got a small payment from Zayne and smiled at his phone, but was way too distracted to see where he was going and bumped into someone, his coat falling to the ground as he repeatedly apologized to the person he bumped into.
But when he peered his eyes up and noticed you standing there, staring down at him with a menacing look, Caleb rolled his eyes.
“Hey pipsqueak.” He mocked, throwing his coat over your head as he guided you to the elevator. Your hand swats his away as you both step in the elevator, clicking the button to your floor and stand in awkward silence.
“You look beat, what did you do last night?” A hint of teasingness laced your voice which only caused Caleb to glare at you in response.
The elevator doors slid open, Caleb grabbed his coat which was resting on your head, and walked out the elevator. He immediately headed over to his cubicle and rested his face in his palms, he already missed his faceless girl.
As he was resting, a tap on his shoulder jolted him from his daze, he sighed and turned his head to whoever interrupted him, but groaned in annoyance when he saw you. You were staring down at him with your arms crossed, acting like he already knew what you were going to ask–but no, he didn’t.
“What is it?” Caleb muttered, averting his gaze away from you as he suddenly put all his focus on his monitor in front of him. His fingers danced around his mouse as he scrolled through hundreds of emails.
“Do you have the file for next week?”
“Zayne got them, but i'll ask him to not give ‘em to you.” he grinned, leaning back on his chair as he peered his violet eyes at you. A scoff escaped your lips and you turned away and walked over to Zayne’s cubicle.
Caleb's eyes widened and he sprung off his chair, following you. When you reached him, Caleb immediately budded in and shook his head at Zayne who had the files resting on his desk. You gave Caleb a dirty look and pushed him aside, asking Zayne for the files.
“Why don't you do it yourself.” Caleb striked.
“Why did Zayne get your copy then?” you cross your arms and stare at him with a raised eyebrow, the look on your face was way too threatening for Caleb to disregard your words. He sighed in annoyance and pinched the bridge of his nose, glancing at Zayne then back at you.
“That's because he gave me something in return.”
“Ooh, that's why you were so beat this morning, hm? I wonder wha–”
“Watch your mouth, pips.”
“Whatever, just give me the file.”
“No.” Caleb reached for the file on Zayne’s desk and walked back to his cubicle with it. He heard your footsteps growing louder behind him and before Caleb could put it back in his drawer, a hand clasped onto it and took it away from him.
“Give it ba–” before he could finish his sentence he turned around to be met with nobody in front of him. He marched around the whole office to try to find you and when you were nowhere in sight, he started to ask the people around where you could've gone.
But after getting no answers from anybody, Caleb sighed in annoyance and headed to the bathroom. His walk there was just as worse as not finding you. Before he could place his hand on the doorknob, someone from behind hopped on him which caused Caleb to flinch dramatically.
“Finally.” He muttered, slowly snaking his hands along your arms which were wrapped around his waist and in a quick movement he flipped you over, pinning you to the wall. His face was just centimeters away from you, neither of you moved, just stared into each other's eyes.
But Caleb's eyes purposely snake down your figure, his eyes lingering on your cleavage for a second before averting his gaze even lower. There was just some familiar feeling he had when he looked at your body but he just couldn't pinpoint what it was.
“Caleb?” you whisper, your eyes stayed locked on his. Caleb shook his head and pulled away, his fingers still rested on your arm before tracing along it, your soft fabric meddled with his cold fingertips before his fingers stopped in place when he felt a bracelet seam imprinted through your sleeve.
Before he could slide his fingers under your sleeve, your eyes widened in panic and you gave the file back to him before running back to the office.
Weird.
Once work was over you immediately rushed back to your house, there was just an hour left before your stream and your worst nightmare happened.
You couldnt find your fucking mask.
You practically searched every crevice of your apartment, checking under the sofa, your bed, the blankets, practically everywhere. but the mask was nowhere to be found.
You sigh, clasping your palms on the edge of your desk as you stared at your monitor in disbelief. You glance around your room one more time and soon grab your coat resting on your chair and leave your apartment.
You walked over to the closest store nearby, skimming your eyes along the mask aisle and picked out the first nicest looking mask you saw. You rushed to the cashier and placed the mask on the table before reaching in your purse and grabbed your card.
You eventually paid for your things and left.
Once you got home you got your things ready and sat in your chair–with your new mask–and hover your cursor over the start stream button and eventually click it.
You sat back on your chair as you started to watch the chat roll in, a bunch of people were already asking where your old mask went but you shrugged and told everyone you couldn’t find it.
Once a decent amount of people joined, your fingers rested on the strap of your shirt and you rolled your fingers around it, “hundred dollars this is getting off” you tease, and not even a second later a man under the name ‘c.lovesapples’ sent the first hundred with a little message attached to the donation.
c.lovesapples: this is my first time on your stream i hope you enjoy :p
You chuckle at the message, but also the username, what a stupid username. But you gave your promise and slid your top off, immediately clasping your cold palm on your tit, sliding your fingers between your perked up nipple, pinching and teasing it.
A quiet whimper escaped your lips and you bit your lip to contain your noises, continuing to play with yourself when another donation brings you back to reality. You peer your head at the chat and the same man who sent the hundred dollars, sends another donation with a follow-up message.
c.lovesapples sent $200: touch yourself?
“Think it's that easy?” you grin, but still linger one of your hands down your body, ghosting your fingers along the waistband of your shorts, then a loud donation sound makes you flinch and you glance back at the screen with widened eyes.
c.lovesapples sent $1000: satisfied? i was gonna save the rest for later but i really want to see you :(
Your mouth opens in a small ‘o’ shape and you couldn’t even bring yourself to utter anything. Instead, you listen to the man's request and slide your fingers under your shorts, slowly pulling them down before you were left in just your panties on display for everybody.
You slid a finger under your panties, rubbing your clit in a slow motion, head jerking back before you sunk a finger in your soaking entrance, your fingers working in a quick movement, letting pleasure blind you from the situation going on. You eventually add another finger, your digits fucking your sensitive cunt soo well, a loud moan echoed through the room.
“F-fuck.. You really know how to get me to give in–ngh so easily?” you peered your eyes at the chat, and even though it was going way too quick you couldn't help but only notice c.lovesapples’s comment.
c.lovesapples: anything for you. now look at where you are now :)
Confused, you glance at your whole screen trying to see what he meant by ‘where you are now’ and couldn't notice anything until a gold badge next to your username sparked and you were number 1?!
“wha–hngh” you curl your finger, letting pleasure rush through you as you soon ride out your orgasm in pure shock. A loud whine escaped your lips and you slump down your chair, panting heavily as more donations and chats started to roll in.
“Thank you…” you mumble, adjusting the mask on your face as you slowly get up from your seat and lean in closer to the monitor.
When you finish the stream, out of curiosity you head over to c.lovesapples’s profile but were met with disappointment when it was a blank page, no profile picture, no bio, no name, nothing. You sigh and plop your head on your desk, trying to think of a way to thank him.
And then an idea clicked, why not he come over to your next stream?
Your fingers immediately rest on your keyboard and you start typing away, writing a slightly convincing message that you hope he would fall for. And not even five minutes passed and you already got a response from him.
c.lovesapples: really? :O
c.lovesapples: i mean, sure.. send your address and i’ll be there on wednesday ;)
You sent him a couple messages back which eventually led to you sending your address. You were surprised how quick he agreed to meeting up with you, especially since this was his first time even joining one of your streams.
You shut your computer, cleaned up, and went to bed, dreading the Wednesday that was about to come.
As Wednesday rolled along, Caleb was geeked the second he woke up, he got up extra early for work, and pampered himself like crazy in the morning. He just couldn't believe that his faceless girl reached out to him just like that.
And now that you were number one, that was one thing checked off of Caleb's list, now the second thing—which he just added—was to fuck you!
As Caleb walked into work he ignored everyone who greeted him and pretended to focus on his work so the time could go by quicker.
As he was drowned in emails upon emails a cling sound fell near him and Caleb glanced down at the ground when he saw a bracelet resting on the ground, he turned his chair and saw you come close to his desk.
“Dropped something, pips?” Caleb chuckled and picked up your bracelet. He swirled the material around his fingers and when he noticed the design his eyes widened.
“Caleb, give it back—ungh” before you could finish speaking, Caleb grabbed onto your wrists and dragged you to a secluded hallway, his fingers gripping tight on the bracelet before he shoved you against the wall.
A thud echoed through the hallway and you wink up at Caleb while scratching the back of your head, a look of confusion filled your eyes and you reached for the bracelet still dangling along his fingers.
But he pulled away before you could grab it, Caleb leaned in his lips inches–centimeters away from yours, your shaky breath ghosted against Caleb’s skin and he slid the bracelet along his wrist.
“So you it's you…” he breathed, sliding his fingers through your soft hair, pulling you closer. You gulp and flicker your gaze from his lips to his eyes, and before you could ask him something, Caleb crashed his lips on yours.
“Save it.” he mumbled against your mouth, slicking his tongue against your soft lips before sliding it in your mouth, meeting his tongue with yours. He worked himself against your lips, practically devoured you like he hasn't eaten for years.
Caleb pulled away, his cheeks burning up by the second, he leaned in for another kiss but you pressed your finger on his lips, pushing him back before you asked him the same question you've been trying to ask before.
Caleb chuckled and rested his forehead on your shoulder, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close, the tension radiated off the two of you, leaving you to instinctively give in and hug him back.
“Why’d you waste your money on me?”
“I dont know..” he mumbled, pulling away and wrapped his fingers around your wrist. The grip was tightening and Caleb started dragging you out of the hallway, eventually leading you out of the office building.
“Cal–where are we going?” you chuckle awkwardly, turning your head as you look back at the building door then back at Caleb, who was already shoving you inside his car.
“To start your stream, just a little earlier.”
It wasn't even a second you stepped into the house, and Caleb already had you slammed against your desk, his needy lips found yours, devouring you like an animal. His hand reaches the bottom of your computer, clicking a button, making the computer flash on.
A bright white light illuminated the room and Caleb still had his mouth on yours, he winked open an eye and peered his gaze to the lockscreen, you noticed his violet iris glistening in the dark and Caleb soon pulled away, asking you for the password.
You give him your password and dart your tongue on his neck, sucking and nibbling on it. A shuddered breath escaped Caleb's lips and his grip grew tighter on you, the feeling of his fingertips digging deep against your plush hips made you squirm beneath him.
Caleb eventually logged into your computer, he grabbed onto your face and without warning, he smashed his lips on yours again, his bodyweight started to push against you, as he started devouring you again. You notice his other hand–still on the mouse, move around as he started to click random buttons and, fuck.
He already started the stream.
“Caleb! My mask–hngh”
Caleb ignored your words and slid you off the desk as his mouth was still on yours, you felt him slide his fingers up your shirt, the feeling of his rough, cold fingertips grazing against your warm skin, which made you shudder in pleasure.
He pulled away for a minute, just to stare into your eyes before the sound of a riipp echoed through the room and your shirt was already torn up, and thrown on the ground. Caleb's hands immediately wrap around your tits before he flipped you over in a quick movement, making you face the camera as he had his hands all over you.
“Mmph–” you felt his fingers lower down your body, playing with the waistband of your pants, but instead of pulling them down, you felt his large presence shadow over you before his bright, violet eyes glistened at the chat.
“Hundred dollars and this is getting off.” he smirked, tugging at the fabric which caused a yelp to leave your lips. You glance up at the screen and notice a bunch of people sending hundreds of dollars. This was unusual for you, you would usually get way less than that, maybe it's ‘cause Caleb was here?
A menacing chuckle left Caleb’s lips and he slid your pants down in a quick movement. You were now left bare n’ exposed in front of everyone and you slam your head on the desk to cover your face, in embarrassment.
Caleb traced his fingers down your body, those same fingers eventually found their way to your soaking cunt and Caleb rubbed a slow motion against your twitchy clit, you clenched your thighs between him and a grunt left his lips.
“Relax, pips.”
You moan in response and a loud ding brings you back to reality, you peer your eyes at the screen and your eyes widen in shock.
thebestartist sent $500: gotta do more than that ^^
“Yeah? What d’ya think?” Caleb leaned in, his hot breath ghosted over your skin, you mutter something incoherent under your breath and that just made Caleb chuckle.
His fingers curled inside you, a loud, broken moan left your lips and you grip onto the desk tighter. Caleb’s fingers slick out of you and he aligned himself against you.
You felt the feeling of his rough fabric play against your sensitive skin, he continued to grind himself against you, stimulating you in any way possible, and it clearly was working.
“Want it?”
“Y-Yes!” You gulped the lump that was creeping up your throat and Caleb nodded, pulling away and zipping his pants down, you glanced at the chat which was going crazy and also notice the unreasonable donations rolling in.
“Too much..” you mutter, catching your breath, but before you could finish what you were saying you felt Caleb’s hard, leaking tip slick inside your entrance.
“Wha-”
“Did you guys know she’s my coworker?” Caleb said, thrusting more inches deep inside you, you rolled your eyes back and plop your head against the desk when you felt him sink deeper and deeper inside you.
“I’m not—ngh sure if we hated each other, but we never g-got…fuck…”
Caleb grit his teeth and grabbed onto the sides of your body, ramming himself in you in an arrhythmic pattern, you felt your head bob back and forth, your moans started sounding ragged, broken, and real.
Caleb grinned as he lifted your hips, elevating you in a perfect angle so he could hit the perfect spots, and he did exactly that.
“But we never got along, r-right?”
You shook your head, not because you were disagreeing with what he said—well you completely forgot what he said—but because you realized you were already creeping close to release.
With the man you hated.
Well it wasn’t even hate anymore, was it? You didn’t expect Caleb to be hitting every right spot, making you feel this good.
“C-Caleb I’m ugh!”
Caleb only hummed in response, his large length stretched you out, sounds of him slicking in and out of you, and loud moans filled the room.
Your legs shake in pleasure and before you could warn Caleb that you were going to cum, you already felt the pleasure pooling out of you. A mocking chuckle escaped Caleb’s lips and he gulped at the sight.
“D-damn it…” he whimpered, glancing at the screen where the chat was going absolutely crazy and the donations were still stacking up by the second.
thecrow: nice.
imamfstarboy: U looks so pretty.
A groveling groan left Caleb's lips when he realized he was close, he muttered curses under his breath before leaning in and grabbing onto the mouse.
A loud clang of your bracelet hitting the table made you flinch and before you could ask what he was doing, Caleb pushed his full length inside you making you moan in shock, an expression he’s never seen before plastered all over your face and that caused a reaction out of Caleb.
“Y-you’re so beautifu—nghh” with a click of the mouse the stream ended and you pant heavily, catching your breath. Caleb was still trapped inside you, and you felt him slowly pull out of you, sounds of his and your slick drooled out of you and you plop on your knees when a small pop escaped out of you.
“Was that good?” Caleb chuckled, leaning in and planted small kisses across your face. You stare at him, the shock still sparked in your eyes and you couldn’t even bring yourself to say anything.
“Let’s get cleaned c’mon, baby.”
Both you and Caleb walked into work at the same time the next day. He stood close behind you, ghosting his hand along your back as he followed you in the office.
And immediately everybody; especially Zayne, noticed what was going on. Caleb chuckled and walked over to his cubicle and gave Zayne the files back.
“I can’t believe that faceless girl was her.” He laughed and slammed the files on the table, resting against the wall with crossed arms.
“Yeah… I checked out her stream last night and didn’t expect you to be there..” Zayne mumbled, his finger resting on his chin as he rubbed circular motions on it.
“Wait you were in the stream wha-“
“Time to pay back the thousands of dollars you gave her, Caleb. And also—”
Caleb only rolled his eyes in response and lifted himself off the wall, walking away from Zayne before he could hear more of his rambling.
“These are the wrong files.” Zayne mumbled.

thank you!! here’s part 3 :)
ALL PARTS CAN BE FOUND HERE
Tumblr media
angry didn’t even begin to describe how you felt as you slammed the door to price’s office behind you.
you were tense, muscles taut and poised to fight. your fists clenched at your sides, blunt nails digging into your palms hard enough to hurt. your jaw was clenched, teeth grinding together as you resisted the urge to march back in there and unleash your fury.
no. not like this. not when you weren’t a hundred percent. not when they would still look at you like you were a wounded doe, stumbling around on broken legs.
in the back of your mind, you can hear that psychologist saying ‘this anger will eat you alive if you let it. you need to let it out somehow.’
you inhaled, unclenched your fists, and made up your mind. you pulled the iv from your arm, wincing at the pinch of the needle.
you left the iv pole standing there as you made your way to the gym.
Tumblr media
the gym was empty when you arrived, which made sense for this time of day. many would be occupied by drills or in the mess hall. others would be sleeping off long nights. you had the place to yourself, and you were grateful for the absence of watchful eyes and sweetened tongues.
you were tired of those who knew nothing acting like they knew something. of those who apologized or asked if you were okay. word spread like wildfire around base, and the subject of your ‘betrayal’ had been front-page news since the start of the witch hunt.
the gym door clicked shut behind you, and you surveyed the room. you knew your doctor would have a fit once you returned to the infirmary, and that she probably wouldn’t let you out alone again, but you didn’t really care.
you needed to let off some steam, and the best way you knew how was with your fists. either you start swinging at a bag or at a certain someone’s face. the bag won’t be condescending, and that makes your choice easy.
you approach one of the bright red punching bags in the corner. it’s scratched and taped from where someone had busted it open. scars that didn’t go away, that wouldn’t— just like yours.
you huffed. it didn’t do any good to start feeling sorry for yourself. you hadn’t done anything wrong. your team had.
you stretch your arms out in front of you, fingers interlocking to pop your knuckles. you catch sight of your severed finger, still healing. they’d recovered what had been chopped off, but hadn’t been able to save it.
just another permanent reminder, something to make sure you didn’t dare forget. you didn’t think you ever would regardless.
you shook out your hands and rolled your shoulders back. fists raised, you angled yourself towards the bag. feet spread, shoulders squared, thumb tucked under your fingers instead of inside. a stance that was second nature after years of sparring and hand-to-hand drills.
the bag was firm when your fist connected with it. you would have been lying if you said it didn’t hurt. you punched with the other hand— same results. the time you’d spent confined to an infirmary bed had done a number on you. muscles had atrophied, bones had weakened. the leg you’d suffered a bone-deep cut to shook under your weight.
you didn’t care. you kept punching, your breathing picking up as your emotions guided you. sweat dripped into your eyes and rolled down your back. you felt weak, physically and mentally. you hated feeling this way, and so you punched harder.
“slow down,” a voice grumbled from behind you.
you ignored him, continuing to punch the bag. you hadn’t heard the door open, nor heard the sound of him approaching, but you would have been surprised if you did.
simon always had a penchant for sneaking up on people, intentionally or not.
“gonna pass out if y’don’t stop,” he said after a minute. you could feel his eyes on you. you ignored him again.
you didn’t need to turn around to know he was standing there with his arms crossed, eyes full of something unreadable.
“stop,” he says firmly, and you sense his movement as he surges forward. his hand lands heavily on your shoulder, pulling you back from the punching bag. you heave in a breath before spinning around and punching him in the nose.
simon stumbles back a step, eyes widened slightly. for someone who prided himself on being so observant, he clearly didn’t see that coming. it made you feel the tiniest bit smug that you’d caught him off guard for once.
you dropped your hands to your knees then, squeezing your eyes shut as a wave of nausea washed over you. damn the bastard, he had been right. you shouldn’t have even been in here in the first place, let alone exerted yourself as much as you had.
your hands were shaking as you tried to pull yourself together. you opened your eyes to see drops of blood on the gym floor, by your feet. you had split your knuckles open.
there were also drops of blood at simon’s feet. you looked up then, slowly straightening your posture. he’d removed his mask, his face bare as he stared at you. blood dripped from his nose.
“gonna have to hit harder than that if y’want to break it,” he says, and you narrow your eyes at him.
“did you follow me in here?”
“no.” he says, and you’re giving a mirthless laugh.
“oh, please. im sure price sent you, yeah? you’ve always been his little lap dog. he says ‘jump’ and you say ‘how high,’ isn’t that right, lieutenant?”
your tone is tense, angry. you throw his title in his face, seeing as he’d been so quick to remind you of yours back in price’s office.
simon watches you, and you want to tackle him. he had always been quiet, always stoic. you’d been with him for years, but you still didn’t think you’d broken down all of his walls.
he was so good at masking his thoughts, his feelings. you weren’t. soap had always called you an open book. whenever you were mad or upset, everyone knew it.
no one knew anything about simon unless he wanted them to. it drove you mad then, and it was sure as hell driving you mad now.
“you need to get back to the infirmary,” he tells you. he wipes the back of his hand under his nose, smearing red across his skin. for a moment, you want to chastise him, reach up and wipe the remnants from his face.
you quickly shake that thought from your head. what is it they say— old habits die hard?
these habits would die if you had to strangle each one with your bare hands. anything you harbored for the four men on your team, for the one you’d called yours, was dead and gone.
“fuck off,” you tell him.
“why are you so damn stubborn?” he says then, and it’s the first time you’ve seen him start to crack since everything had happened. emotions are beginning to leak through his stony exterior, whether he means them to or not.
“you don’t get to tell me what to do anymore. none of you do,” you say, and you take a step forward then, eyes blazing as you stare up at him. “not after what you did.”
he doesn’t speak for a moment, as if gathering his thoughts. his eyes never leave yours.
“it shouldn’t have happened like that.” he tells you. you scoff.
“like that? you mean the four of you torturing me? tying me up and mutilating me like I was just another fucking target?” your voice was rising as you took another step forward, shoving a finger into his chest.
“if I’d treated you like another target,” he said, tone even. “you would’ve been dead.”
“so you showed me mercy, is that it?” you bared your teeth, a hollow laugh escaping your throat. “oh, thank you simon. I really felt that fucking mercy when you cut off my finger, and when you cut through layers of skin to get to bone.”
you inhaled before continuing. “I should be grateful then, right? is that what you want from me? for me to recognize your fucking ‘mercy and take you back? take you all back?”
he just stands there. you can see his jaw clench, but he makes no move to speak. you find it funny that he hasn’t even tried to apologize. john, your ever prideful captain, had swallowed his failure and pleaded for your forgiveness.
johnny and kyle would surely have done the same if they’d had the chance to speak to you, even if they only had a minute.
but simon? simon doesn’t. he doesn’t outwardly admit his wrongs. he doesn’t apologize. doesn’t seem sorry, even. you don’t know what’s going on inside his head, but you find yourself not really caring to know.
the fact that he can’t bring himself to admit, in blunt words, that he had astronomically fucked up and that he felt even the slightest bit of remorse, told you everything you needed to know.
cold, stoic ghost. you hadn’t been afraid of him when you’d first joined the squad, and you weren’t afraid of him now.
but back then, you’d wanted to break down those stone walls of his. you’d wanted to be someone he felt safe around, someone who knew him inside and out.
now, you’re packing your time with him into a box in your mind and dumping it into the trash. simon riley means nothing to you now.
“take your mercy and shove it up your ass,” you tell him. you step back and drop your hand, your eyes still locked on his.
“and by the way,” you say as you start towards the door. he doesn’t turn around, doesn’t move an inch. it’s as if he’s rooted to the spot.
“you should’ve just killed me.”

author’s note:
not really sure how I feel about this one tbh. I have plans for a part four, but I’m not quite sure how long I’ll be making this series.
and as for simon— I want to write an extra part about his thoughts/feelings about everything. let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in!
anyways, let me know your thoughts please :) (I honestly may end up deleting this and rewriting it when I’m not tired lol)

casual | mark lee
Tumblr media
pairing: idol! mark lee x waitress! fem. reader genre: fluff, strangers to lovers wc: 8k summary: you wouldn’t normally fall for a guy who left his number on a dinner bill. too bad that guy was mark fucking lee. content warnings: slightly suggestive content (making out), light cursing, food mentioned, parasocial themes, reader works a service job, a very overworked mark lee :(. no explicit smut in this part. a/n: hiii before anyone yells at me—yes, i know this isn’t the haechan fic i’m supposed to be working on (promise i’m still on it!!) but listen… i went to the smtown concert last week and it fully reignited my delusions, so i wrote this as a coping mechanism :P ik we’ve all been out with friends maybe at a restaurant, and thought, “what if my bias walked in right now?” right?? that’s basically the entire premise of this fic. pretty unrealistic but super fun to write & i hope it’s just as fun to read! also no smut… yall know what that means lol if you want a part 2... just say the word. ps: if you’re ever at an italian restaurant, do yourself a favor and get the gnocchi. trust me.
giving up your one free day to cover someone else’s shift wasn’t how you planned to spend saturday. but when your coworker begged with teary eyes and a story about her sick cat, saying no felt impossible.
so instead of sinking into your couch with a pint of chocolate ice cream and pride and prejudice on repeat, you were hustling through a saturday night at one of the city’s busiest restaurants.
it was hour six of your shift and you were at that breaking point where one starts fantasizing about quitting—or at least hiding in the walk-in freezer for five peaceful minutes.
any weekend here was a carnage with nonstop orders, zero patience, and customers who thought yelling would grill a steak faster.
but it was finally past eleven which meant the dinner rush had slowed and the only remaining stragglers were either couples too in love to notice the time or office workers too tired to cook at home. just two more hours, you thought to yourself.
“y/n! table four,” your coworker called, rushing past with a stack of empty plates.
you snapped out of your daze and walked over, expecting tired business executives or another couple feeding each other breadsticks. instead, you made eye contact with the two people you least expected to see here.
mark lee and johnny suh were looking right at you.
your heart dropped to your ass. for a second, you actually considered turning around. but even with your brain buffering, you knew you had to keep it together. the last thing you wanted was to make them uncomfortable.
you stopped beside their table, immediately recognizing the other two who had their backs to you as haechan and jungwoo. internally, you were combusting, but externally you prayed your expression didn’t scream that you were seconds from melting into the floor.
“hi, welcome to cecconi’s,” you said, voice steady enough despite your heart hammering your ribs.
when you handed over their menus, your fingers brushed mark’s briefly and you hoped he didn’t notice you flinch. that’s when you noticed the book peeking out of the front pocket of his hoodie.
you recognized the cover instantly— south of the border, west of the sun by murakami.
you cleared your throat, smiling before you could stop yourself. “that’s a good one.”
mark’s eyes followed where you were pointing and his eyebrows shoot up when he realized “wait… you’ve read this?”
you nodded, trying to be casual, as if you hadn’t picked that book apart alone on your bedroom floor at 2 a.m. two months ago. “i’ve read all of his stuff. but this one was a whole different experience.”
“i literally can’t put it down.” mark said, angling his body to yours with excitement. you could see he was tired but the small talk seemed to give him an energy boost.
“right? anything by murakami makes me feel like i’m eavesdropping on my own memories,” you said, mostly to yourself.
“that’s exactly it!” he said, eyes going wide. “i never knew how to put it into words before.” you had to look away before you got caught smiling at how boyish he looked when he got excited.
the other members stared with amused expressions on their faces, so you quickly straightened up and went back into server mode.
“right… uhm, our special tonight is black truffle gnocchi in a garlic cream reduction, topped with parmesan and chive oil. would you like something to drink while you look over the menu?”
“what kind of beers do you have?” johnny asked, leaning back in his seat.
you rattled off the list, stepping in to point them out on the menu. your hand was visibly shaking, but you hoped they’d chalk it up to general social awkwardness and not the fact that your four favorite idols were sitting in front of you.
“just water for me,” mark said softly. despite his smile, you could clearly hear how strained his voice was.
“great, i’ll bring those right out.”
they must’ve come straight from the venue. tonight’s show—the very one you’d missed because of this shift—had ended less than two hours ago. and now they were here, in your section, eating dinner.
you walked to the bar, filled the glasses as requested except for mark’s. for him, you brewed a mug of hot water, dropped in a slice of lemon, a swirl of honey, and a small nub of ginger. it wasn’t even on the menu but something about his tired eyes and strained voice made you move on instinct.
you brought the tray back with all the drinks, placing them down carefully. when you reached mark, you set the mug in front of him.
“i hope this is okay,” you said quietly. “honey-ginger tea. it’s good for your throat.”
mark blinked, taken off guard. “oh… thank you.” he looked down at the mug, then back up at you. “seriously. that’s really thoughtful.”
you just smiled, brushing a stray hair behind your ear. “are you guys ready to order?”
they each placed their orders, nothing too extravagant. jungwoo wanted pasta, johnny asked for a steak medium rare, and haechan—after a dramatic five minute debate with himself—settled on the truffle gnocchi. mark went last.
“can i get the steak medium rare? and the mashed potatoes instead of the fries, if that’s okay,” he asked, glancing up again, voice still carrying that soft exhaustion.
“of course,” you said, jotting it down. “i’ll get those in for you.”
you dropped the order slip at the kitchen window, still feeling weirdly out of sync with your body. it didn’t help that you had to keep circling their table to serve other guests. table five had just ordered dessert, the group behind them needed their wine refilled, and your feet barely touched the floor before you were moving again.
still, awareness prickled at the back of your neck whenever you passed their table.
you turned your head slightly, pretending to scan the room. mark was looking right at you but quickly glanced away, suddenly very invested in the tea in front of him.
you hesitated. maybe they needed something?
smoothing your apron, you walked back to their table. your heart thudded way harder than it needed to, but you managed a smile.
“everything okay here?” you asked.
mark cleared his throat, shaking his head as a faint flush crept up his neck. “we’re good. thanks, though.”
johnny’s lips twitched, and haechan was very clearly hiding a smirk behind his glass.
you smiled again, warmth rising in your chest at how shy he looked. “no worries. food should be out soon.”
back behind the bar, you tried to focus. really, you did. but your eyes kept drifting back to their table. thankfully, they seemed too wrapped up in their conversation to notice. every now and then, though, mark’s gaze would flicker your way.
he’s probably just zoning out, you told yourself. or exhausted, probably both. don’t be weird about it.
still… he kept looking. did you have something on your face? was it obvious you recognized them? god, what if he thought the tea was too much?
you groaned softly and buried your face in your hands when no one was looking.
pull it together, y/n. finish the shift. freak out later.
they are pretty quickly and eventually, their table quieted down. it was past midnight now, and the restaurant was finally starting to shut down. you printed their bill, then hesitated, chewing your lip as your pulse ticked higher.
should i?
this was your shot. it was maybe a little silly and borderline embarrassing, but if you didn’t say something now, you’d regret it forever.
before you could second-guess yourself any more, you scribbled a note at the bottom of the receipt:
"hii, hope this isn’t weird but i’m a really big fan. you’re amazing and i hope you enjoyed your meal and that the tea helped. get some rest tonight! :)"
you took a breath, walked back over, and placed it gently in the center of the table.
“here’s your bill,” you said quietly. “no rush, of course.”
mark looked up first. the smile he gave you was a little tired, but genuine.
“thank you,” he said warmly.
you nodded and stepped away, legs wobbling slightly as you disappeared into the back.
it’s done, you told yourself. no going back now.
as you busied yourself cleaning other tables, you watched from the corner of your eye as they got up. haechan said something that made mark laugh quietly, eyes crinkling at the corners in a way that made your stomach flutter helplessly.
then they were gone.
you waited a few extra minutes before heading over just to be sure. as you cleared the plates, you reached for the bill with your heart already racing, though you told yourself not to expect anything.
but when you opened the leather folder, your breath hitched.
they’d left a generous tip—but that wasn’t what caught your eye. there was something written under your message, a response scribbled quickly in neat handwriting:
"thanks for taking care of us tonight. especially the tea! :)"
followed by a number.
your heart kicked so hard you had to brace a hand on the table edge. there was no name at all, just the number. the ink looked a little smudged near the dash like whoever wrote it had closed the presenter in a hurry.
holy shit.
͏͏͏𝄞͏͏ ͏͏ ͏͏͏♥︎̼
it was past one when you finally made it home, hair smelling like garlic butter and burnt steak. the city lay quiet, your apartment even quieter, yet your brain refused to join the calm.
with a tired sigh, you tossed your bag onto the couch and collapsed beside it, fingers still gripping the bill tightly.
you’d reread the message ten times already. the ink was even more smudged now from your fingers, but the number was still clear.
you exhaled loudly, then groaned into a throw pillow.
“what the hell is happening.”
it had to be mark. right? it felt obvious.
then again, maybe another member had simply appreciated the gesture and thanked you on behalf of mark. after all, their handwriting wasn't exactly familiar. you’d seen them a few times on signed albums or online fan letters, but not enough to be certain.
suddenly determined, you sat upright, snapped a quick photo, and zoomed in immediately.
“this is insane,” you muttered.
but that didn’t stop you from opening a tab to search: mark lee handwriting.
this wasn’t your best moment. you were tired, emotionally compromised, and clearly spiraling. still you opened a second tab and went deeper until you were staring at stan twitter handwriting threads for half an hour.
after many more side-by-sides, you sat back and stared at the screen like it could confess to you.
“it looks like his,” you whispered.
just text him. what's the worst that could happen?
the thought alone conjured every embarrassing scenario possible and made you nearly throw your phone across the room. how would you even start that conversation?
“hi, is this mark lee from nct? because i’m lowkey in love with you and i really hope you're the one who left your number at my workplace tonight?”
your heart nearly stopped at the thought. you glanced at the clock again—2:17 a.m.
yeah. no. you needed to lie down. you’d sleep on it. calm down a bit and gain some perspective.
but three days passed.
three whole days. that’s how long you spent agonizing over a single text. you'd written and deleted at least twenty drafts—too casual, too eager, too weird. one even included a joke you cringed at the second you typed it, and deleted just as fast.
he’s probably already back in korea, you reminded yourself while folding napkins at the restaurant on tuesday. fan accounts had posted airport photos before you even got out of bed. mark in a beanie and headphones, eyes puffy with exhaustion.
two more days passed. eventually, courage outweighed dread.
on thursday night, curled up in your pajamas, you stared at the too-bright glow of your phone while netflix asked if you were still watching. just do it, you told yourself. again.
you opened a new message. typed. erased. retyped. your pulse pounded, drowning out mr. darcy’s proposal in the background.
hi! this is y/n, the server from cecconi’s last saturday night. i know you’re probably crazy busy, but i just wanted to say thanks again for coming in. hope you’re resting well :)
it was friendly and not too over the top… right?
you hit send and immediately shoved the phone under your blanket, like that could somehow shield you from the rejection.
an hour passed, then three more, and nothing. you forced yourself to sleep, pretending the tight knot in your chest wasn’t disappointment. the next morning, you checked your phone before even opening both eyes.
still nothing. not even a read receipt.
it’s fine. they were idols. they were busy. you’d waited too long anyway. the group was back in rehearsals, buried in schedules. who had time to answer a text from a random server in another country?
another day passed with no reply. you tried to talk yourself down. maybe it wasn’t even his number. maybe it was a manager’s. maybe his phone was off. maybe international sims are weird. maybe—
“why did you wait so long,” you muttered into the couch, face buried in a pillow.
you were just about ready to let it go when your phone buzzed softly against the coffee table.
your heart nearly launched itself out of your chest. you scrambled for it, almost knocking over the entire table in the process.
a new message.
sorry!! things got crazy once we got back to korea. i’m really glad you texted though. and we’re resting (sort of haha). it’s mark btw :)
you stared at the screen.
read it. then read it again. and again.
warmth flooded your chest. you'd been right.
it was him.
your thumb hovered over the keyboard, brain scrambling for something to say. but for the first time in days, all you could do was smile.
you hadn’t realized how easily a single text could flip your whole mood until he replied. you must’ve read that message ten times before you even responded.
somehow, the conversation flowed naturally from there.
it started with casual back-and-forths. he’d talk about the tour, and you about your shifts. it quickly turned more personal though like blurry late-night snack pics from his studio, or mirror selfies of your server fits before dinner rushes.
none of it felt forced. but still… what was this?
you’d be wiping down table six or pulling espresso shots for a regular who never tipped, and suddenly your phone would buzz with a text message.
mark: can’t believe you’ve never seen inception…
you: maybe i was busy having friends
he sent back a string of laughing emojis and a photo of his laptop playing it.
mark: you’re watching it with me next time. no excuses.
next time.
you didn’t know what that meant, but it echoed in your head for the rest of the shift.
by the second week, it wasn’t just texts.
sometimes he’d call when your time zones aligned, and you were both free. once while you were folding laundry. another while he walked home from the studio, breath fogging the cold air as he complained about his busted heater.
“i feel like an old man,” he said once, voice scratchy. “my knees hurt”
“you’re twenty-five.”
“and breaking down.”
you laughed until your stomach hurt. he was quiet for a second, then said, “i like your laugh.”
you had to grip the edge of the counter to stay upright.
a month later came the first video call.
it was early morning. you were still half-asleep, texting with one eye open, when your screen lit up with a facetime request. you froze.
no makeup. puffy eyes. pimple cream still on your chin. but your fingers accepted the call before your brain could stop you.
he was lying down, hoodie half over his face.
“oh thank god,” he mumbled. “i thought you weren’t gonna pick up.”
“i almost didn’t,” you laughed, pulling the covers up to hide half your face. “you caught me in a vulnerable state.”
his eyes crinkled. “you look cute.”
you didn’t know what to say to that, so you just tucked your face further into the blanket.
after a few hours, the call fell into a comfortable silence, his eyes starting to flutter shut as you both lay in your respective beds.
you should’ve hung up, but you didn’t. you just stayed on the call, watching him sleep.
video calls became routine after that.
at first, they were short—ten, maybe fifteen minutes. he’d call after practice, his hair a mess, face still damp with sweat. the phone would be propped against his water bottle as he peeled off his hoodie and complained about sore calves.
but the calls started stretching longer. sometimes he was lying on a hotel bed, cheek pressed into the pillow, telling you about his comeback preparations. other times, he wandered through whatever city he was in, showing you the neon signs, quiet side streets, and cafés tucked into corners no tourist would ever find.
“i’ll take you here one day,” he said once, camera panning to a ramen shop. “i mean… if you ever visit.”
you didn’t answer right away. just smiled and pretended the idea didn’t stick in your chest like a pebble you couldn’t shake loose.
you started saving little things throughout the day just to tell him later. customer stories, songs that reminded you of him, strange headlines you knew would make him laugh. without realizing it, your brain made notes labeled tell mark this later.
he did the same. he sent you photos of whatever snack he was eating on set, told you about a dream where you both worked in a space bakery, asked what you thought of new songs he was writing. he never sent full demos, just a few seconds here and there—but it still felt intimate.
you started noticing things you hadn’t, even after all your years as a fan. how he bit the soft skin of his knuckles when he was anxious or the fact that he brushed his teeth for 6 minutes (yes, you counted).
neither of you brought up what this was. and maybe that was okay.
still, on some nights, you’d wonder does he text other people like this? has he done this before, video calls, sleepy laughter and quietly sharing his day?
you never asked.
you didn’t want to ruin the quiet magic of it all by needing too much too soon.
͏͏͏𝄞͏͏ ͏͏ ͏͏͏♥︎̼
mark eased you into his life bit by bit.
on a random thursday night, you were sprawled on the couch, scrolling aimlessly through tiktok when your phone buzzed. you smiled automatically when you saw his name and hit accept.
but it wasn’t him when the call connected.
“yo! she’s real!” johnny’s voice boomed through the speaker, far too loud and way too amused.
you blinked. “wait—what?”
the screen shook as mark scrambled to get the phone back. “okay, okay, stop—hyung, give it back!”
“nice to meet you,” jungwoo added brightly in the background. “finally!”
haechan’s face popped into view next. he hovered close to the camera, flashing a crooked grin. “she’s the one, right? the reason he’s always giggling at his phone like a loser.”
they were all speaking in korean, except for johnny—who made sure you caught the gist. you weren’t fluent, but you knew enough to piece it together. their tone said a lot, anyway.
“what did he say?” you asked, laughing nervously.
johnny leaned in. “he said mark’s obsessed with you.”
mark groaned in the background. “don’t translate that.”
“he talks about you,” haechan added in english, still half-hiding behind jungwoo but clearly enjoying himself. “all. the. time.”
you stared at the screen, wide-eyed, face already burning. “oh god—wait, we just—”
“aigoo, she’s cute,” jungwoo said with a grin, nudging haechan’s shoulder. “mark, you’re done for.”
mark finally got his phone back, his flushed face filling the screen. he was breathless from laughing.
“i’m so sorry,” he mumbled. “that was… i didn’t mean for that to happen.”
you were still blushing but grinning too. “so you talk about me all the time?”
he covered his face with one hand. “please. don’t start, they won’t let me live this down”
after that night, it became a running thing. sometimes you’d call just to talk to mark and end up ambushed by his members. taeyong once popped into frame with a plate of fruit, offering you a piece through the screen like you could actually take it. “for energy,” he said in halting English, then smiled and wandered off.
chenle appeared a few times asking random questions as if you’d been friends forever, one time he asked “do you like mark as much as he likes you?”
you sputtered something while mark tried (and failed) to shut him up.
renjun showed up once too, squinting at the screen. “so this is the girl,” he said, then walked off dramatically without another word.
it was chaotic, awkward, and constantly embarrassing but it also made your chest ache in the best way. knowing you weren’t some secret he was hiding. you were someone he wanted them to know.
and then one night, a few weeks later, mark called with a different kind of energy.
“guess what?” he said, barely able to sit still.
you blinked at him through the screen. “what?”
“we’re going to the US,” he grinned, and your heart nearly stopped.
“wait, seriously?”
“yeah, for a festival. just one weekend, but i’ll have a couple free days before the flight out. i—” he paused, scratching the back of his neck. “i was really hoping i could see you.”
you stared at him, stunned for a second.
“you want to see me?” you asked softly.
“yeah,” he said immediately. “i mean, only if you want to, obviously. i just… i’ve been thinking about it for a while. texting and calling is great but,.. i kind of miss being in the same room as you.”
not just the same city,  not just in passing. but in the same room with you.
you swallowed past the nerves bubbling up in your chest and nodded, trying to keep your voice steady.
“i want that too.”
͏͏͏𝄞͏͏ ͏͏ ͏͏͏♥︎̼
you tried for tickets the second they went live.
you had alarms set, several tabs open, your card ready. but none of it mattered…
they sold out in minutes.
you stared at the screen in disbelief, refreshing the page over and over hoping the outcome would change. it didn’t. your chest tightened with each failed refresh.
you were so close. and now, you had no idea how to tell mark.
you waited a whole day, thinking they’d release more tickets, maybe someone would resell—but the prices were insane, triple what you could afford, and the longer you waited, the more hopeless it felt.
when he finally called you that night, you tried to act normal for about ten seconds before it all came spilling out.
“i didn’t get tickets,” you said, voice cracking before you could stop it. “they sold out so fast and now the only ones left are like impossible. and i know you’re going to be super busy and probably won’t be able to meet up anyway, but i was really looking forward to seeing you perform, and now i don’t even know if i’ll get to see you at all—”
“hey, hey, slow down.” mark’s voice was soft. “breathe, y/n.”
you inhaled shakily, pressing your forehead to your knee, curled up on the couch. “sorry. i just… i really wanted to be there.”
“i know,” he said gently. “and i want you there too.”
you went quiet, biting the inside of your cheek.
“but we’ll figure something out, okay?” mark continued. “don’t stress about it too much. just… trust me a little.”
“what do you mean…,” you said slowly, suspicion creeping in.
he chuckled. “nothing. just saying... maybe don’t give up hope yet.”
you narrowed your eyes at your phone. “you’re being cryptic.”
“am i?” he said, way too innocently.
you groaned into your pillow. “don’t do this to me.”
“i’m not doing anything,” he replied. “just... keep the day of the festival open, okay?”
you wanted to press him, but the look in his eyes was too confident. so you nodded slowly, heart still a little heavy but soothed by the warmth in his voice.
the day they landed in the US, you got the call while brushing your teeth.
your phone lit up with his name, and you answered with a mouthful of foam, spitting it out quickly as you mumbled, “hey, did you land?”
“we did,” mark said, voice laced with excitement. “and i have good news.”
“what?”
“a car’s going to pick you up the day of the show,” he said, like it was the most normal thing in the world. “my team helped sort it out. we wanted to make sure you’d be there.”
you blinked, wide-eyed, toothbrush still in hand. “wait what? you—what do you mean? mark—”
“you’re coming to the festival, y/n. you’re not missing this. not if i can help it.”
you clutched your phone, stunned into silence, overwhelmed by how much care he’d tucked into those few words.
“you didn’t have to—”
“i know,” he interrupted, voice softer now. “but i wanted to.”
͏͏͏𝄞͏͏ ͏͏ ͏͏͏♥︎̼
you’d never felt more nervous getting ready for anything in your entire life. not for job interviews, not for first dates, not even for a final exam. nothing compared to the fluttering anxiety buzzing in your chest right now.
it was almost ridiculous how much effort you'd put in. your hair was carefully styled in waves that took you half an hour to do, your makeup was done and redone multiple times until you finally settled on something subtle but pretty. your outfit had taken ages to choose, you didn’t want to look too casual but also didn’t want to make it seem like you were trying too hard. so you settled for a regular black skirt and a white long sleeved top, it was comfortable but not boring. you wanted to look good, even though mark had already seen you at your most tired, sweaty, and disheveled.
the car arrived precisely at the time mark had promised. your heart jumped to your throat when the driver opened the door for you, offering a polite nod.
your hands trembled slightly in your lap the entire ride to the venue. you felt giddy, overwhelmed, and deeply nervous all at once.
but when you finally arrived, the excitement abruptly shifted into self-awareness. several staff members glanced at you warily, some whispering to each other and throwing quick looks your way. suddenly, you felt very out of place, shrinking slightly under their scrutinizing gazes.
“excuse me,” came a sharp voice behind you. you turned around to see a woman approaching, her expression serious, a clipboard held firmly in her hands. “you must be y/n?”
“yes,” you replied nervously.
“there are some documents you'll need to sign,” she informed you.
“documents? like—”
“standard NDAs, confidentiality agreements, liability waivers,” she cut in and handed you a clipboard, flipping briskly through pages filled with dense legal text. “you'll need to sign these before we move forward.”
you stood frozen for a moment, feeling incredibly naive and small as reality hit you like a slap to the face. you’d let yourself get carried away, almost forgetting who exactly mark was—who exactly these people were. they weren't just regular guys; they were idols, celebrities, people with management teams and carefully guarded images.
this was serious and you had somehow underestimated all of it.
the woman noticed your hesitation, her expression softening just a fraction. “it’s standard procedure,” she said, “mark personally asked us to ensure you’re comfortable, but we need to protect everyone involved.”
“okay,” you whispered shakily, taking the pen from her hand. your fingers felt numb as you signed, barely registering the words printed on the paper.
once the woman was satisfied, she took the clipboard back, nodded curtly, and gestured for you to follow her. your heart thundered in your chest as you walked through the busy hallway.
then she stopped in front of a dressing room door, knocking sharply once before opening it slightly. “mark? your guest is here.”
you held your breath as the door slowly swung open, your pulse so loud you could hardly hear anything else.
mark appeared in the doorway, eyes widening slightly as he took you in. suddenly, all the anxiety, paperwork, and awkwardness faded into the background. his expression softened immediately, that familiar warmth returning as his eyes crinkled in a gentl smile.
“hey,” he breathed softly, clearly just as relieved to see you as you were to see him. “you made it.”
mark steps fully into the hallway, blocking the view of the bustling green-room behind him. for half a beat you both just stare, soaking in the fact that you’re finally sharing the same oxygen again instead of pixels on a phone screen.
“wow…” he breathes, cheeks coloring as his eyes scan you. “you look so—” he catches himself, smiles sheepishly, and opens his arms. “can i?”
you nod before your brain supplies coherent language, letting him tug you forward. the hug is quick—he’s hyper-aware of everyone around you—but his hand stays at your elbow afterward, grounding you.
“sorry about the fuss,” he murmurs, voice pitched low so only you can hear.
“it’s okay… just a bit intense.”
“i know.” his thumb sweeps a tiny circle on your sleeve. “but you’re here now. c’mon, the guys are waiting.”
when you walk inside the room is buzzing with energy. there’s stylists zipping garment bags, a makeup artist following jungwoo around to touch up his lips, haechan drumming on a folding table with two half-empty water bottles. the second he spots you, his face splits into a grin.
“look who made it!” he crows, loud enough for the entire room to hear. “mark’s special guest.”
johnny swivels in a chair. “oh, the infamous y/n at last.” he stands, offering a hand that turns into a gentle half-hug when you take it. “nice seeing you again.”
jungwoo waves from a corner, cheeks puffed with gummy bears. “hi! mark’s talked a lot about you,” he says around the candy.
mark groans. “ignore them, they’ve been insufferable since i told them you were coming.”
“insufferable?” haechan clutches his chest theatrically. “hyung, we’re just supporting your relationship!”
you feel your face go nuclear. “it’s not— we’re just—”
“friends,” mark supplies, shooting haechan a warning glance. but the tips of his ears have gone pink, and the little smile tugging at his mouth totally betrays him.
johnny leans closer, whispering, “lies, he’s always grinnung at his phone like a middle schooler whenever you talk.”
you let out a mortified laugh that turns into a squeak when mark nudges johnny away. “we have to be on stage in ten minutes, maybe focus?”
jungwoo claps. “right! you can watch backstage with staff.”
an assistant appears then, handing mark an in-ear pack. he hesitates, then squeezes your hand once before following the others toward wardrobe.
“sorry i gotta get dressed,” he says over his shoulder, “see you in a bit.”
you exhale for the first time since stepping off the car, pulse finally settling as the door swings shut. you tuck a stray hair behind your ear, catching your reflection in a vanity mirror. your cheeks are flushed and there’s a stunned little smile on your lips.
the staff member that escorted you in approaches again, her expression now more polite but still distant as she walks you down a narrow hallway. “you’ll be watching from here,” she explains as you reach a curtained-off section just beside the stage entrance.
the space is just wide enough for a couple of folding chairs, and a monitor showing the stage feed. even through the curtain, you can hear the low rumble of the crowd growing louder by the second—cheers, screams, the crowd chanting “ilichil, we love you!”
you perch at the edge of a chair, feeling entirely out of place and wildly overwhelmed.
what am i even doing here?
this wasn’t some fantasy anymore. you weren’t watching fancams in your pajamas or whispering to your screen during late-night video calls. you were backstage, in their world, and everyone around you belonged to it except you.
you looked down at your outfit again, smoothing invisible wrinkles, suddenly doubting every choice you’d made that morning. your nails, your shoes, even the way you’d done your eyeliner. it all felt too much and not enough at the same time.
a soft noise pulls your attention back to the side curtain. one of the stylists slips through, handing off a mic pack to someone just outside your view. you recognize mark’s voice quickly.
he’s laughing at something jungwoo said, but even through the laughter you can hear the edge of nerves in his voice. it makes you feel… less alone in your own.
you peek around the edge of the curtain. they’re all gathered near the wings, adjusting their in-ears and bouncing on their heels to shake out last-minute jitters. mark’s back is turned at first, but then he glances over his shoulder almost like he can feel your eyes on him.
your breath catches when his gaze finds yours. through all the chaos and noise, his eyes meet yours like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
he doesn’t wave or call out—he just smiles.
he turns back as staff starts to guide them toward the entrance tunnel, and you’re left sitting there with your heart doing an unholy rhythm in your chest.
you hadn’t expected this, the building pressure in your chest, the way your emotions feel too big to hold.
but underneath all of it, layered between the nerves and the noise inside your own head, there’s a flicker of anticipation.
he’s just a few feet away now. he’s about to be on stage, doing what he was born to do, and you’ll be right here, watching not just as a fan anymore.
but as someone who matters to him.
the stage lights cut to black, and the low hum of the backing track pulses through the arena like a heartbeat. from your narrow perch in the wings you can feel the vibration under your soles, a physical reminder that this isn’t a dream.
a lone spotlight slices across the darkness—jungwoo steps into it, and the crowd erupts. the boys fan out behind him in practiced formation.
mark is near the center, head lowered, hand cupped over his earpiece as he settles into position. you’ve watched this opening on countless fancams, but up close everything is magnified: the hiss of their in-ears, the snap of jacket fabric when they turn, the ragged inhale before the first line.
johnny’s deep vocal rolls out, haechan answers with his bright harmony, and suddenly the whole place is singing along..
mark’s part hits next. he steps forward, eyes scanning the sea of faces before flicking to you. it’s only a second, a brush of attention so quick the crowd would never catch it, but it lands like a spark in your lungs. he grins, then pivots into choreography.
you never understood how performers could look both effortless and deadly focused until now. sweat beads at their hairlines within minutes, but they don’t miss a beat. haechan riffs a playful ad-lib, doyoung shoots him a mock glare, johnny laughs into his mic; the crowd screams, drunk on the interaction.
halfway through the set, they perform gold dust as a surprise, the stage lights go yellow. mark moves to the far edge closer to you and delivers his verse straight ahead. but on his last bar he tilts his head, eyes skimming the shadows where you’re standing. his voice drops into that warm, gritty register you know too well from late-night calls, and despite the roar of the arena the moment feels impossibly intimate.
you tuck your hands under your arms, trying to calm the goosebumps, but the sheer thrill of seeing him own that stage while still tossing these tiny pieces of himself your way is overwhelming.
the final song explodes in confetti cannons. the boys hit their last pose, breathing hard, grinning wide. the screams from the audience are deafening; even the backstage staff exchange awed looks.
mark bows with the others, shouting “thank you!” into his mic, but as they turn to exit he catches your gaze one more time. he taps two fingers against his chest, then points subtly toward the hallway where you’re waiting and mouths the words stay right there, i’ll find you.
and you waited exactly where he told you to.
or… at least tried to.
but the moment the boys disappeared off stage, chaos swallowed everything whole. several stagehands rushed past with crates, wires and gear flying in every direction, staff barking orders into walkies while backup dancers and security weaved in and out of the narrow corridors.
you stepped back into the corner, trying not to get trampled, but every second you waited the crowd thickened, people shouting over each other, crew passing by so quickly that you were bumped into more than once. you caught glimpses of the members being swept off into different directions—haechan laughing breathlessly with a towel around his neck, johnny taking a water bottle from someone. but there was no sight of mark.
“you can’t stand here,” someone snaps, grabbing your elbow and steering you quickly away. “please, move along.”
“wait, i was supposed to—” you start, but your protest drowns in the noise as you’re guided through the maze of corridors.
you glance over your shoulder anxiously, panic rising in your throat. mark said he’d find you but you don’t even know where you’re going.
the staff member stops abruptly near a back exit, where a van is parked outside the open door. he gestures hurriedly. “wait in there, please. someone will be with you shortly.”
before you can question it, he’s already vanished back into the building. hesitantly, you climb into the empty van, settling awkwardly on the leather seat. not even a minute later your phone buzzes with a text from mark.
mark: where are you??? backstage is insane, i can’t find you.
you quickly reply: someone moved me to a van near the back entrance?
your heart pounds as minutes stretch into eternity and doubt starts gnawing at you—they will probably film some behind the scenes content now, interviews, livestreams, what if he doesn’t have time to find you before he’s sent away?
but just as anxiety peaks, the van door suddenly slides open. your eyes widen as mark appears, breathing heavily like he ran to reach you, his stage makeup slightly smudged, hair damp and tousled from the performance. he sighs in relief, shoulders visibly relaxing the second he sees you.
“oh, thank god,” he breathes, climbing quickly into the van and closing the door behind him. “i was so worried. everything okay?”
“yeah, it was just really hectic—” you start, but your words fade as he sits beside you, closer than you’ve ever really been. close enough that you can see the faint glitter along his jaw, the sweat glistening at his temples, the warmth in his gaze as it settles fully on your face.
“you were incredible out there,” you say softly. “i’ve never…  it’s different seeing it up close.”
his cheeks pink despite the post-performance flush. “i kept looking for you.”
“i noticed,” you admit, smiling.
mark’s gaze drops to your hands twisting in your lap and he reaches out.
“thanks for being here,” he murmurs.
your laugh is a shaky exhale. “i wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
“also…the NDA,” he starts quietly. “i didn’t want you to feel like i was cornering you into some weird situation. that’s not what this is.”
“mark, i didn’t think that. i mean—it was overwhelming, yeah, but i get it. you’re…” you gesture helplessly. “you.”
he laughs softly, but there’s no real humor behind it. “i hate it. you know, not being able to just… hang out with you. not having the freedom to do normal things, like… i don’t know—go get coffee or show you the city or tell people about you without it turning into a whole thing.”
“is that what this is? am i…” you hesitate. “something you’d want to tell people about?”
he looks up at you, and there’s not a trace of hesitation when he says, “yes. i think about it all the time.”
you blink, throat suddenly dry.
he leans in slightly. “i just… i didn’t want you to think i was trying to make you sign your silence just so i could keep you a secret. it’s not about hiding you. it’s about protecting something that means a lot to me.”
and there it is. the part he hadn’t said yet.
you mean a lot to him.
your chest tightens with the weight of being chosen in a world that doesn’t make space for this kind of closeness, that demands boundaries, a good image and clean lines drawn in ink. and yet here he is, blurring those lines for you.
“thank you for saying that,” you murmur, voice trembling a little. “i didn’t realize how much i needed to hear it.”
mark reaches across the space then, taking your other hand. “i don’t want this to feel like you’re walking on eggshells because of my life. i want it to feel real.”
your fingers tighten around his instinctively.
“it already does,” you whisper.
and when he finally closes the distance between you, pulling you into a quiet, careful hug, it feels so right.
his arms wrap around you and for a second the world outside the van ceases to exist. he’s warm even through his stage jacket, you can feel his heartbeat thudding fast against your cheek. you breathe him in, clean sweat and fabric softener.
when he pulls back, he doesn’t release your hand. his thumb brushes lazy paths over your knuckles.
“i kept picturing this,” he admits quietly. “all week. wondering if it would feel the same in person as it did in my head.”
“and?” you whisper.
“it’s even better,” he says without hesitation.
he shifts slightly, the space between you rapidly shrinking. his gaze flickers briefly down to your lips, and the movement sends your pulse racing.
“mark,” you whisper, voice barely audible, “i—”
his other hand gently finds your cheek, thumb tracing lightly along your skin, tipping your chin up just a fraction. he searches your face, breathing shallow and eyes heavy with something soft and vulnerable.
you lean in instinctively, eyes fluttering closed as his breath ghosts warm over your lips—
and then the van door suddenly swings open, a burst of noise and harsh backstage lighting flooding in.
“mark hyung, manager hyung says—oh shit.” haechan freezes halfway inside the doorway. “ohhh, sorry… was i interrupting something?”
mark jerks back, cheeks blazing crimson as his hand quickly leaves your cheek and lands awkwardly in his lap. “dude, are you serious?” he groans, dropping his head with a sigh and muttering a very un-idol-like curse word.
you cover your mouth, laughing breathlessly through the embarrassment even as your pulse continues hammering in your ears.
“sorry, sorry,” haechan says, grinning wickedly, clearly not sorry at all. “but uh, we gotta go. manager hyung’s freaking out. we got an interview, hurry up.”
“yeah. coming.” he searches your face, apology written in his eyes “they’ll herd us to the hotel soon. can you wait a little longer? i want to ride with you after they clear the crowd.”
you nod, trying to ignore the throb of almost-kiss still sparking across your lips. “i’m not going anywhere.”
“give me twenty minutes tops, and then i’m kidnapping you for actual food.”
“bold of you to assume i’d say no.”
as he slips out, you catch the faintest curve of a smile before the door thuds shut and you’re alone again.
thirty minutes later, mark slips back into the van. this time freshly changed, hair still damp but swept under a dark cap.
“sorry that took forever.” he drops into the seat opposite you, knee bouncing with leftover adrenaline. “do you wanna come meet the other members properly before we leave?”
you follow him back through a quieter service corridor to a smaller green room that smells heavily like hair spray. inside, half the members are sprawled on sofas in various states of post-show exhaustion. the energy shifts the second mark ushers you in.
“guys, this is y/n,” he says.
taeyong shoots up first, hand extended. “the legend herself,” he jokes, grinning wide enough to prove he’s still riding his performance high. jaehyun offers a shy wave and drags over a chair so you won’t have to hover. yuta, also walks over and introduces himself politely.
doyoung is the only one who stays seated, arms folded. his eyes flick between you and mark, assessing. it lasts all of three seconds before he notices how relaxed mark looks—those shoulders that usually sit somewhere near his ears are loose, his smile easy. doyoung’s expression softens.
“thanks for cheering him up,” he says quietly, a little sheepish. “he’s been impossible the last few weeks.” the tease lands gentle, and mark flicks a sweat towel at him in retaliation.
the small talk bubbles up easily. the topic shifting from favorite festival moments, to whose in-ears cut out, and the confetti that caught in doyoung’s mouth during a high note. the atmosphere is warm and surprisingly normal, until a manager pops his head in to remind everyone they’ve got early rehearsals tomorrow.
mark steers you quickly back to the van after saying a quick goodbye.
“so…” he ran a hand through his hair and put his hat back on. “food?”
“please,” you groaned, head falling back against the seat. “i’m starving.”
“wanna go to a restaurant?” he offered.
you winced. “too risky.”
he nodded slowly. “true, my hotel’s worse.”
you turned your head to face him. “sasaengs?”
“they wait outside sometimes, follow the vans from the venue” he trailed off, already looking annoyed with the reality of it.
“we could…” you swallow, then barrel through. “we could go to my place? it’s not far, and no one knows where i live. we can order in.”
mark’s head tilts, surprised but already nodding. “are you sure?”
“only if you’re okay hiding out in a tiny apartment that smells like scented candles and stale coffee.”
he smiles brightly. “sounds perfect.”
you rattle off your address to the driver, heart hammering as you drive through the city. mark’s knee bumps yours every time the van hits a pothole, but neither of you moves away.
he glances over. “thank you for trusting me with your space.”
you breathe out a shaky laugh. “thank you for trusting me with… all of this.”
his fingers brush yours on the seat between you. outside, the van slows to a stop at your curb. the driver kills the lights for discretion. thankfully, the street is empty.
you turn to mark, pulse racing for an entirely new reason now. “welcome to my part of the world.”
he grins, tugging his cap lower and reaching for the door handle. “lead the way.”
your apartment is small, cluttered with book stacks and half-burned candles, but it’s yours—and when mark steps in, slipping off his shoes at the door like he’s done it a hundred times, it feels suddenly, impossibly domestic.
“so,” he murmurs, looking around with quiet curiosity. “what’s good for takeout around here?”
you settle on thai food after a chaotic five-minute debate that ends with mark looking up from your couch and going, “okay but do you trust me with your spice tolerance?”
you blink at him. “mark. i watched you cry eating jalapeño chips during that one livestream.”
“they were ghost pepper!” he defends, slightly pouting. “and i didn’t cry, my eyes were just... dry.”
you giggle and the tension that had followed you into the apartment fades with it.
while you wait for the food, he wanders around your space with curiosity. never touching too much, just observing. he stops at your bookcase, smiles at the titles stacked sideways, fingers brushing one of the cracked spines.
“so this is where you’ve been calling from,” he says as he returns to the couch, flopping down beside you. “it’s cozy.”
“that’s code for small, right?”
he tilts his head, grinning softly. “no. cozy means i don’t want to leave.”
you glance over at him, heartbeat spiking in your throat. his hoodie’s a little rumpled from the ride, cap tossed somewhere by your front door, and he’s leaned so close your shoulders brush.
“you’re kind of the only boy who’s ever said that,” you murmur.
“then they’re idiots.”
your lips twitch with a smile. mark leans his head back on the cushion, you get distracted by the cute bump on his nose and the lines of his jaw.
you both fall quiet for a while, your legs stretched out beside his on the couch, ankles knocking occasionally. your body relaxes more than you expect, as if it remembers this feeling from all those calls and imaginary versions of this moment.
when the takeout finally arrives, you both eat cross-legged on the couch, plastic containers open between you, your playlist humming low in the background.
you talk through mouthfuls of noodles about everything and nothing—his weird craving for peaches whenever he’s overseas, your childhood phase of putting ketchup on rice, how you both secretly judge people who don’t rewind movies when they pause.
somewhere between “i really miss my mom’s kimchi stew” and your story about the nightmare customer who demanded gluten-free breadsticks, your shoulders touch. a minute later his arm slips along the back of the couch, fingers grazing your shoulder each time he shifts. your nerves fizz under your skin, but the contact feels safe.
You lean into him. He doesn’t move away.
the conversation slows and when you glance up to make a joke, your nose brushes the edge of his jaw. his breath hitches at this, then a warm hand settles on your knee.
“this feels…” he starts, swallowing. “kinda unreal.”
“yeah.” a whisper—because your voice has gone missing.
his palm lifts to your cheek, thumb soft against your skin. “can I kiss you?”
you’re already nodding.
the first kiss is shy and careful, more smile than pressure. The next slips deeper, mouths moving in a lazy rhythm neither of you rush. Your fingers tangle in the hem of his hoodie; his other hand skims your waist, pulling you just close enough to feel the quiet drum of his heart.
eventually the couch gets too cramped. mark breaks the kiss with a sheepish laugh. “my back is dying,” he murmurs.
you tug him down the hall to your room, giggling when he nearly trips on a sneaker. he perches on the edge of the bed and you climb into his lap without thinking, legs draped around him. his hands settle on your hips and he sighs.
“i really, really like you,” he says, forehead resting against yours.
“i like you too. a lot.”
he kisses you again. you spend the next half hour like that, trading soft laughs and softer kisses until the adrenaline drains from his limbs. head falls heavy on your shoulder, he mumbles something about the best night of his life…and falls asleep mid-sentence.
You ease him back onto the pillows, kick off your skirt, and curl into the space beneath his arm. One leg hooks over yours; his hand rests at the small of your back, protective even in sleep.
it’s the tenth call that finally wakes him the next morning.
mark groans into your pillow, dragging his phone blindly toward his face. “what…”
a second goes by and then he jolts upright. “shit. shit.”
you blink groggily, one arm reaching out for him. “what’s wrong?”
he’s already stumbling for his shirt which he doesn’t even remember taking off last nigh. “i slept in. i never—fuck, i never sleep in.”
you sit up slowly, watching him try to shove his hat over tousled hair while checking his phone. “i have like ten missed calls.”
he answers the incoming call hurriedly, voice tense and apologetic. “yeah, i’m sorry, i know… i’m on my way now, just got… held up. i’ll explain later.”
he glances down at you then, taking in your messy hair, swollen lips and sleepy eyes, and the look on his face softens just a little.
when he finally hangs up, he rushes back to your side, quickly pressing a kiss to your forehead. “i gotta run, but i'll text you as soon as i can. i promise.”
you smile sleepily up at him, already missing the warmth of his body against yours. “go. don’t get in trouble.”
he pauses briefly before leaving. “last night was… perfect. thank you.”
and then he’s gone, leaving you to curl back into your pillow, still feeling the ghost of his touch and the lingering warmth of everything you shared.
