absolutely hate when i can't think of where a quote or saying comes from but i know it absolutely comes from some piece of media i've consumed in the past and i agonize over trying to trace it back to the source and then give it up, and then i'm watching a piece of media and bam i found the root of the phrase and it's like. thor ragnarok. or something.

this Friday seems like a good day to install some more emergency exits
image id: a pen sketch of Thor and Odin from the bifrost incident. thor stands in the bottom center of the paper, back to the viewer and face in profile to the right. he is a heavyset man with a beard and long hair, with an angry expression. his right hand and both feet are covered in pink blood. his right hand holds a hammer above his head. behind the hammer the drawing is split vertically. the right side is colored in completely black, except for a few white stars, with darker tentacles barely visible. the left side has Odin, after her transformation into a snake monstrosity. her body twists down towards the bottom left of the drawing with another loop in view in the top left. her mouth is full of very sharp teeth and is open very wide as if she's about to eat Thor. one pink eye is visible, staring down at Thor. the background of the left side is full of jagged pink lines, like lightning or cracking glass. a few of the lines overlap Odin's rough line work. end image id

My husband and I HATE Valentine’s Day, because we don’t do romance. So we celebrate a new holiday: Jeff Goldblum Day!
It started a couple of years ago as a joke. We were sick to death of our single friends swooning at us over Valentine’s Day and asking us what romantic garbage we were planning to do, because OF COURSE married people have to be romantic every February, right?
Except we don’t. The husband and I are just best friends who sleep together, and we did the papework because it was convenient. We don’t do that flowers and chocolates shit. Our idea of “romance is watching Mythbusters over takeout Chinese and laughing at the explosions, okay?
So we told our friends, as a joke, that we celebrate Jeff Goldblum Day: the day when everyone is unattached, so we can all appreciate the sexy, hilarious glory that is Jeff Goldblum. All you do is watch Jeff Goldblum movies with your most beloved friends, while munching on half-priced chocolates. Nobody’s married on Jeff Goldblum Day, nor is anyone in love. Our partners are just here with us to watch movies, just like every other friend we have. Aroace friends, this is your holiday too, no one says you have to actually be attracted to him.
Tumblr media
Don’t ask why we chose Jeff Goldblum. We were pulling ideas out of our butts and acting like it was a thing, and that was the first “weird actor everyone knows” that we thought of. This could have just as easily become “Christopher Walken Day.”
Except that everyone came over for Jeff Goldblum Day. And then they did it the folllowing year. And now we’re in Spain introducing all of our friends here to it as well.
So yeah. Jeff Goldblum Day is next weekend, and I’m formally inviting everyone here to participate in Jeff Goldblum Day with us.
Enjoy the chocolate.

actually you know what, im still not over infinity war and endgame systematically undoing all of the plot progression and character development in thor ragnarok, a movie that many people presumably worked very hard on and managed to successfully push its characters in new and interesting directions, none of which matters now because, again, the fucking russo brothers and whoever the fuck else was involved decided their vision was more important than the work of others

The more I work on the Thor + Balder = Marvel!Thor post that tries to maximize similarities, the more I examine the TR behavior (regarding violence because it's a huge part of who myth!Thor is), and I get more annoyed by the conception that MCU!Thor is a himbo sunshine cinnamonroll that never laid a hand on Loki and was the absolute best brother. And oddly enough, I had not thought much of the incident I'll describe, and kinda shrugged off a lot of stuff with "they've survived worse" and aren't as "squishy" as us (probably because i hadn't watched T:TDW in years and Loki posing as Odin was funny and distracted me).
The moment Thor finds out his presumed dead brother he (supposedly) mourned is still alive he threatens to kill him with his magical super-weapon Mjolnir that only he can use (and it's implied he's done it before with "You're really gonna make me do it"). And this might be understandable if Loki had kept attacking realms and shown no improvement, but he got character development and helped save Jane and Asgard in the previous movie. He nearly died for Thor! And Asgard is still in one piece.
And like I know some don't like TR and don't consider it cannon, so they can get away with doing this. But those that like TR and insist Thor has no darkness to him, you sure?
And if anyone tells me "Akshually, Thor was right to try to kill Loki because Loki's reduced military interventionism in other realms IS WRONG AND LAZY AND EVIL in the movie that shows that Asgard is an empire built on the blood of other realms." I'll tell you to ask yourself why Disney would claim that. IDGAF what Feige said in interviews!

Somebody asked me to talk about the misconception that Loki is always trying to kill Thor, so here are some thoughts.
When Loki and Thor are children, Thor is the one who expresses bloodlust: "I'll hunt the monsters down and slay them all". We can infer from this scene that Loki was not violent or murderous as a child (unlike a certain scene in Thor: Ragnarok would suggest which, let it be remembered, was completely improvised and therefore not written with Loki's actual character in mind).
Loki never expresses a desire to kill Thor (except on Svartalfheim, and we all know that was a trick).
The closest he comes to this is his command to the Destroyer: "Ensure my brother does not return. Destroy everything." Notice how direct the latter part of the sentence is, while the former is vague and left up to interpretation. This is a partial reach, but I wonder if Loki wouldn't have just told the Destroyer to kill Thor if that's what he really wanted.
Loki had the opportunity to use the Destroyer's death ray on Thor, and he didn't. He chose to slap him instead. Yes, this proved to be nearly fatal, but he could have been much more direct. The Destroyer is a literal killing machine.
Even knowing Thor was mortal, I sincerely doubt Loki believed he would actually die. To Loki, Thor has always been his strong and unbeatable older brother. He has probably seen him mortally wounded hundreds of times and it was probably impossible to imagine him dying from a slap.
Remember that at this point, Loki has no reason to believe that Thor won't try to kill him as soon as he finds out he's Jotun. Thor had been happily killing hundreds of Frost Giants just the week before, and had likely been doing so for the last several hundred years. So even in this "him or me" situation, in the midst of a mental breakdown, moments away from attempting genocide, Loki isn't able to directly attempt to kill Thor.
Loki never even comes close to killing Thor at any other point in the films. They fight on Bifrost, but they're fighting more for control of the mechanism here than with intent to hurt (let alone kill) each other.
In the Avengers, Loki doesn't even pretend to try. He stabs Thor once with a tiny dagger that looks like it affected Thor as much as a bee sting.
In TDW he takes it a step further and sacrifices himself for Thor (or at least tries to). Is the opposite of trying to kill someone trying to die to save them? I feel like it might be.
In Ragnarok he tries to... turn him over to the Grandmaster? I guess? And we get the snake story, but like I already said, that was improv done with no regard for Loki's actual character. And then Loki literally saves the entirety of the Asgardian people and supports Thor becoming king which doesn't seem very murderous to me.
In Infinity War he sacrifices himself for real this time, first throwing away a goddamn INFINITY STONE to tackle Thor to the ground with no thought for his wellbeing and then having the life choked out of him by his greatest fear and tormentor and also oh my god it's been FOUR films since the last time he sort of maybe subjectively tried to kill Thor and he's been actively trying to save him in three of those
This got a bit long and rambly but yeah. No matter how you look at it, Loki's attempt-to-kill-Thor count is either one or zero. That simply doesn't add up to any number high enough to qualify as him "constantly" trying to kill his brother. Also his attempt-to-save-Thor count is by my calculations AT LEAST six, and that's only on-screen and obviously not counting the hundreds of years they spent together before this.

Kingsman OC for a Kingsman-inspired campaign
Tumblr media
They’re an ex-military boarding school, ex-soldier who went “MIA,” was found by Kingsman, chilled in the Lakes District for a couple years, and was recruited to join after the events of Kingsman 2. They’re also a 2014 Tumblr girlie, love spy movies, and play spy music on their comms whenever they’re out on missions “for the vibes.”
Anyways shoutout to @m1nts for spreading the Kingsman propaganda I am so excited for them to ramble about movies at everyone and get into cool spy shenanigans.

Nick, Will & Alec are standing in an elevator. Will stands in between the other two, nervously fiddling with his thumbs while Alec and Nick are arguing brainstorming ideas for their break in. After some silence, Nick speaks up again.
Nick: Hey, let's do "Get Help".
Alec: ... What?
Nick: Get Help~ 😏
Alec: No! 😠
Nick: C'mooon, you'll love it.
Alec: No, I hate it.
Nick: It's fun!
Alec: It's humiliating.
Nick: Do you have a better idea?
Alec: ... No.
Nick: Then we're doing it. 😊
Alec: We are *not* doing "Get Help"!
Once they reach their designated floor, the trio is seen rushing out the elevator with Alec hanging limply and draped over Will's large shoulders, and Nick yelling frantically.
Nick: HELP! GET HELP! OUR FRIEND IS DYING!! GET HELP! PLEASE! HELP HIM!!!
With a mighty grunt, Will launches Alec across the room over at the three guards who were lined up at the entrance, knocking them all out when they make a collision. Afterwards, Will runs over to check on Alec & help him up while Nick just observes the situation and laughs to himself, feeling pleased with the success of his plan.
Will: Uh, sorry if I threw you too hard.. 😅
Nick: Ahh, classic~ 😁
Alec: *glaring right at Nick while he fixes his clothes* Still hate it! It's humiliating. 😡
Nick: *chuckling* Not for me it's not. 😏
More Incorrect Quotes! I've never watched the Thor movie but I know that this particular scene was a bit of a meme for a while, so... Here's this.
did you add a third person (Will) into this scene just because you thought that Nick wasn't strong enough to pick up Alec? that's almost funnier to me than the original scene lmao
