It's so funny how Fukuzawa just told a baby Ranpo, 'hey you have an ability and your super smart, everyone else is a literal idiot, here's some special glasses', you know like a liar. And in doing so gives this random autistic 14 year old a god complex.
Then adopted him.

needing a real backstory for kunikida
Tumblr media
"he was a math teacher" it's the shadiest thing I've ever heard
saw a video with "christmas kids" by roar on my fyp, with basically traumatized ada and fukuzawa being the dad everybody headcanon him as, and all the comments were like "and then there's kunikida the ex math teacher"
... there are people out there who consider kunikida as the normal and non-mentally-ill detective? the "only normal one"? man's one of the less normal of the group, and the thing that helps making him so strange is his damned backstory
the non existing one, yeah
(and he wasn't really a math teacher, he dropped out of college and was a teacher like two days a week, it was just a side job)
he's the most passionate about protecting people and the one who most values their life (yes, the kids getting killed and bombed, yes. he is deeply traumatized, yes), and everyone thinks of him as the best person at the agency, Ranpo made it clear in season 3.
(his morals are... even if you don't like the concept of morals, he's a little fucked up like anyone else. he's the one who was ready to leave a homeless 18ys orphan on the streets cause he could have caused troubles to the agency (at the end he did but he deserved all the love in the world so nothing against him) and proceeded to attacked said orphan in a restaurant and in front of everyone when atsushi said he knew something about one of their cases. So yeah, just the way he's always screaming ab "the agency reputation" is kinda suspicious, especially when he doesn't consider asl something dangerous for their reputation tackling a teenager on the floor. he cares about the agency's reputation, but in his own personal way)
(he's about to break atsushi's arm like it's a spaghetto. even if he just wanted it to be an... incentive to talk, it was mad man. dazai osamu had to stop him)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(or the oh so famous mischaracterization where he's the most polite person in the world? he's there talking shit about dazai every two panels, and ends up being rude to almost everyone)
Tumblr media
or just his relationship with dazai.
he hates the way dazai always tries new suicide methods and talks abou it while they're working (we all know he hates it cause he cares but let him think we believe he does it just "for the agency reputation") but he doesn't hate Dazai. one thing I hate is fanfictions where Kunikida is a fucking asshole who treats Dazai badly for no reason (the "stop nagging me" trend cause he tells dazai to work? that's literally the most normal thing ever happened in this story).
He respects him and recognise his intellect and EVIDENTLY trusts him. just this part up here, it's the first chapter and he has that look that just tells "im gonna trust for this" (we know you care for him stoop) (not comparing them to soukoku, that's another thing. stop talking shit about one of the two partnership just because you ignore the bond both chuuya and kunikida share with that lucky man) (wish I was him)
(and Dazai definitely has some sort of respect for him. Kunikida has been exposed, like everyone else, to some real atrocities and still respects his ideals in every way he can, and from Dazai perception he's the definition of human, just like Chuuya. I like to think that the years spent with Chuuya teached him a lot of things like this, and him more than anyone else would respect the strength Kunikida has. he probably still think of him as a little naive, but is our man really so innocent? he knows that his ideals cannot always be respected. he doesn't believe in a stupid utopia where the world he wish for is real, and he makes compromises with this truth)
(love the duo)
Tumblr media
his respect for Fukuzawa is the thing (with his ability) that messes everything up even more. he hates authority (gonna kin him rn) and is something almost foregone, since he values so much human's life. it's impossible for him to enjoy something like politics and politicians with the way he lives, and at the same time he respects so deeply Fukuzawa, that is in fact authority to him.
so
some could say it's because Fukuzawa trained him so they know each other but than how did fukuzawa starts training a college student? how the hell did these two met?
I refuse to think it was something normal like idk, Kunikida was interested in martial arts and met him and they drank something together. and even if it was something "innocent", fukuzawa's history with dealing with teenagers (kunikida joined the agency before he was twenty) is "you're traumatized, I am too, let's become a family and heal each other" (not really but almost just trust me) so yes, he saw something in kunikida so he wasn't just a nobody who ended up here like nothing
maybe Fukuzawa knew that he was what the Agency needed, someone so strong and human, ready to die for what he believed in, working with people who all had a twisted sense of morality
Tumblr media
he's so silly
and his ability.
just
yeah he has the "poor growing up" vibes (and I say it as someone who is definitely not rich and has had their bad months) and I believe in the "abilities generated from trauma" theory, so someone who can create small and daily things out of paper definitely had a problem having them in other ways, and used his ability to survive. so stop saying he's not traumatized, everybody in this manga is so shut up
(we need the real backstory) (we're not gonna get it cause Asagiri at the end of fifteen wrote a paragraph talking ab how he loves to see fans making headcanons. so yeah gonna headcanon his childhood till I'm dead)
(his relationship with Katai is suspicious, I'm not talking about our man obvious homosexuality but the bond itself. gotta work more ab them) (I'm joking) (or am I)

Just some thoughts again for this episode sorry but....
Kyouka protecting Atsushi
Tanizaki getting triggered when they hurt Kenji (maybe not as unhinged as he is with Naomi but HE WAS PROTECTIVE OF KENJI)
The way the water the ADA stood next to rippled as soon as they stood up and decided to choose the path that led to less loss of lives...a ripple effect??
YOSANO'S BUTTERFLIES ANIMATED I AM OBSESSED
ALL the character moments like Kenji encouraging the ADA, Tanizaki being frustrated and protective, Kunikida never letting any of them die, Yosano saving them all with her ability, Kyouka going back for Atsushi, poor Atsushi being so out of the loop -
I wonder where the hideout Yosano was going to take them to was going to be....
#also idk if this belongs in the main post but i am obsessed with the way each agency member has a similar aged parallel to them#like a parallel within the agency that really plays off the whole life/death symbolism#like yosano/ranpo....dazai/kunikida....kyouka/kenji....and atsushi/tanizaki#hear me out the first have yosano as an angel of death and ranpo in his backstory confront an angel of death#yosano with a bloodstained past and ranpo with a fairy happy one#and then obviously kunikida with his ideals for life and dazai with his ideal to die#kyouka with her past as an assassin and kenji with his past as a farmer (cultivating life)#and then atsushi and tanizaki being....rather extremists but also just slightly ambiguous where they stand in this dichotomy#like atsushi obviously seems like life and tanizaki seems to be death but theyre both...well there is something anyway#BUT how in the end all of them choose life (yes even dazai) and how all of them still understand the deadliness and death of the world#armed detective agency my beloveds honestly#i cherish them all so much#and also even though the similar aged thing doesnt really work out here im gonna say fukuzawa and naomi can be a parallel#for the sole reasons that both are here really because of someone else even if one is the pres and the other a clerk#but fukuzawa is all about 'you are CHILDREN please be safe'#and naomi is like 'im gonna die with you or not try and stop me'#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bungo stray dogs#bsd season 4#bsd s4 spoilers#bsd spoilers#spitting nonsense#bsd musings#armed detective agency#rambling in the tags sorry

Annoying Boy
PT.2 HERE
Fem!14yr!Reader x 14yr!Ranpo
Summary: Your father, Fukuzawa, brings home Ranpo and you're left to deal with him. His 'special ability' reveals some cracks in the story your father has always told you regarding your mother's death.
Warnings: Fukuzawa somewhat neglection and disregarding reader's feelings(?), Mention of a mother's death.
A/N: Part 2 if this does good? Proofread✅
Tumblr media
The heels of their feet thump against the matted carpet of the hallway as Fukuzawa leads Ranpo to his apartment.
"Here." Fukuzawa stops in front of the door, Ranpo observes the ragged hallway as the older man reaches into his sleeves to retrieve his keys.
Ranpo messes with a part of the ugly green carpet that had begun sticking up at the edges, using the front of his shoe to step on it in an attempt to stick it back down to the concrete it laid on. He cringes at the sound it makes when it rips from the concrete to stick back up again. He hums a sound of confusion when he realizes that Fukuzawa hasn't opened the door and let them in yet.
Fukuzawa sighs and turns towards the younger boy. "I forgot to tell you," Fukuzawa puts the key into the lock after missing one or two times that Ranpo finds himself holding back laughter at. "I have a daughter, Y/N, around your age." He turns the key and pushes the door open. "Her old bed is still in her room it's a little old and beat up, but it should be fine, so you'll be sharing." Fukuzawa closes the door behind them. Next to the shoe rack was a bicycle. Fukuzawa notices Ranpo observing the bike. "Some things are best left unsaid."
Ranpo huffs as the two begin taking their shoes off. The thought of having to share a bedroom with someone he hasn't even met yet annoyed him. Why couldn't he just make his daughter sleep on the couch? He follows Fukuzawa through the apartment, examining all the rooms he goes through. The apartment was small only two bedrooms with one bathroom. He noticed as he walked past the dining table that there was only two chairs and he wondered if Fukuzawa would be bothered to get a third. In the corner of the table was a framed photo of a black cat with big yellow eyes, imbedded in the frame was 'Mr. Paws.' He hadn't seen a cat or any food or water bowls since he entered, so he assumed the cat died or something not bothering to put much though into it.
They stop at a door down the hallway with peeling white paint. Faint music seeps from under the door. Fukuzawa knocks on the door a few times before speaking. "Y/N? Turn that down and open the door." He wiggles the doorknob of the locked door.
Behind the door the music barely lowers and Fukuzawa rolls his eyes before the door clicks unlock and opens. The music seems louder through the open doorway. Y/N leans on the doorframe, glancing at Ranpo and then looking away deciding he wasn't important enough to ask about. She looks at her father with a bored expression. "What?"
Fukuzawa clears his throat. Ranpo takes notice of the similarities of their personalities as they interact. Fukuzawa gestures to Ranpo. "This is Ranpo. He needs somewhere to stay, so he'll be here."
Y/N shrugs. "Okay." Silence takes over the three. Fukuzawa raises his eyebrows at his daughter and motions behind her to the abandoned bed that sat in the corner of the room. She groans and slumps dramatically. "Dad, no, I don't know him." She complains and points to Ranpo.
Ranpo crosses his arms and his eyebrow twitches as she talks. "Then why don't you sleep on the couch and I take the room?"
Y/N's eyebrows scrunch together and she pushes off the doorframe, stepping closer to Ranpo. "Excuse me-?"
Fukuzawa steps in-between the two and holds up a hand in front of both their faces. "Okay, that's enough." He lowers his hands and turns towards Y/N while still staying in-between them. "Ranpo will be using the extra bed in your room and if you have a problem with it then you can sleep in the living room."
Y/N's mouth falls agape as her frustration intensifies and her face flushes. "Well, why can't he take the bed and share a room with you-?"
"Y/N, I told you what was going to happen." Fukuzawa hisses.
Y/N tightens her lips into a thin line. "Fine."
Fukuzawa nods. "Good." He looks between the two before speaking again. "I'm going to cook dinner, okay?" The two nod. In the music that is still blaring from the room a curse word is mustered while Fukuzawa is walking away. "And turn that off!" He demands before disappearing around the corner at the end of the hallway.
Y/N groans and glares at the boy left in front of her before turning on her heel and walking back into her- their room. Ranpo follows behind her and watches as she shuts the music off. He walks over to the old bed. The frame is dark brown with random scribbles over it's wood. There wasn't a sheet or any blankets or pillows.
He turns back to Y/N's side of the room, she climbs up the ladder leading up to her loft bed, underneath it was a desk with a laptop and a display of framed pictures and other random trinkets. It creaks as she settles against the pillows.
Ranpo sets his backpack at the foot of his new bed before making his way to her desk and picking up one of the photos, not bothering to ask permission. He instantly recognized Fukuzawa standing behind a chair where a women sat and was holding a little girl in her lap. All three of them were smiling widely. Y/N stops the action of putting her headphones on and leans over the railing to look at him.
"What are you doing?" She asks harshly, moving towards the ladder to make her way back down. "Don't touch my stuff." She snatches the photo from him and places it back in its place.
"That's your mom, right?" He asks. Y/N glares at him.
"Why do you care?" Ranpo shrugs and Y/N scoffs climbing back up to her bed. "Don't touch my stuff anymore." She puts her headphones over her ears and ignores any other words from him.
Ranpo shrugs, this time to himself, and sits on the old bed. He moves into a lying position the stiff mattress and lack of pillows uncomfortable against his back and neck.
A few minutes go by the only sound being Fukuzawa in the kitchen until Y/N breaks the silence. "She died awhile ago," Y/N turns off her phone and sets it in her lap, staring at the ceiling. "When I was really little."
Ranpo blows air through his lips. Controlling the timing between each blow to make some kind of rhythm. When he doesn't reply Y/N picks her phone back up.
"I know." He says suddenly.
Y/N rolls her eyes. "Oh," She turns the phone off again. "Did Dad tell you?"
Ranpo sits up and turns to look at Y/N. He shakes his head. "No, I just know."
Y/N scoffs. "Yeah, right." She turns the phone on again and begins scrolling back through her playlist.
"It's true!" Ranpo stands up and proudly places his hands on his hips. "I'm a genius detective- the greatest in the world! I helped your Dad solve a case and because I have no home or job he's giving me both!" He removes one of his hands off his hip and holds up two fingers.
Y/N stares blankly at him from up on the loft. "Yeah, and now I'm stuck with you."
"A honor, really."
"Really?"
Ranpo nods. "Yep!" Ranpo makes his way towards her bed again this time to climb up the ladder. Despite her protests he climbs up to join her on the mattress, staying at the foot of the bed.
"Hey!" She waves her hands towards him. Motioning for him to get off. "Get off my bed Detective Jackass!"
Ranpo holds a finger out in front of her face. "Not until I prove to you that I am the greatest detective!" He pulls his hand back. "I'll start by telling you how your mother died."
Y/N's eyebrows scrunch and she crosses her arms. "Okay, I wouldn't be surprised if you got it by just guessing." She admits.
Ranpo smiles and reaches into his pocket to pull out a pair of glasses. Y/N raises a brow. He places them on his face, pushing them up on the bridge of his nose with a finger. Opening his eyes for the first time since they've met. Y/N took note of their bright emerald green colour, distracted she missed what he said.
"Sorry, what?"
"I said," He takes the glasses off and shoves them back in his pocket. "You killed her."
Y/N huffs out a laugh and stares at him in confusion. "Excuse me? And what were those glasses for? Special effect?"
Ranpo shakes his head. "Your dad covered up the incident by lying to you and saying she died in a car crash. You were too young to remember, so it probably wasn't that hard to keep up the lie for years."
She was beginning to feel angry with the boy again. He showed up out of no where, insisted he was some weird super genius and then started sprouting random lies about her mother.
"I think you've lost your goddamn mind." She gritted her teeth.
"He tried to comfort you by getting you a cat, Mr. Paws, but he ran away a year later." When Y/N didn't say anything he continued. "You hate cars because of what he told you, so you prefer riding bikes or just walking-"
"Okay, stop!" She holds both her hands up. "None of that proves anything. You're just saying bullshit."
Ranpo smiles again. "But nobody has told me these things, so how could I have known?" Y/N's eyebrow twitches as she stares down the grinning boy.
Fukuzawa walks in through the open doorway. He glares at Ranpo who sits on his daughter's bed. "Okay, a rule starting right now is that you two are not allowed to sit on each other's beds with each other."
Y/N claps her hands together as if in a prayer. "Thank, God."
Fukuzawa sighs and motions for both of them to get down. "Come in here, dinners ready." He disappears out the bedroom door.

About Natsume and Ranpo
//spoil about the end of light novel 4
“Good work on finding the place.” Fukuzawa lightly bowed before showing the cane in his hand. “Oh, why, if it isn’t the cane I lost some time ago. You came all this way to return it to me? How commendable.” “Your reputation precedes you, sir. If you would pardon my intrusion, I came to ask a favor.” “Don’t be so formal. Come, have a seat.” Fukuzawa bowed before taking a seat in the nearby chair. Ranpo, on the other hand, quietly stared at the man before him without even moving. “No way… I didn’t notice before, but he’s—”“I owe you my gratitude for saving me that day, my dear boy.” The man cackled. He wasn’t wearing a suit this time, but he still had on a bowler hat. “Oh, okay,” Ranpo mumbled as if he were standing on pins and needles. His voice was hoarse. “You saw through that trap at the theater from the beginning. You noticed the rug’s adhesive, and yet, you allowed yourself to fall into the trap. Why? Was it to lure out the enemy—? No, there were plenty of ways you could have done that—” “Whether I did or not, I owe your father.” He smiled faintly. Ranpo stood absolutely still as if he were struck by lightning. “Don’t tell me… From the very start, you—***” “I came with a request,” Fukuzawa abruptly said, cutting him off. it wasnt in the fantranslate version, but in my physical copy he said “Don't tell me...from the very start, you want to lend me a helping hand—”
In their conversation,it's heavily implied that Natsume purposely got caught because he want to "help" Ranpo.Because he own Ranpo's father(Clairvoyant) some favor.I assumed the "help" here means let him and Fukuzawa meet n cooperate thus deepen their bonds.
It's about building up the agency too,but I believe it's mainly about helping Ranpo.
Makes me wonder if part of the reason Clairvoyant asked Ranpo to go to Yokohama is because of Natsume?Just how cool Ranpo’s dad was that even THE strongest ability user owes him some favor?Maybe we can get some flashbacks of Clairvoyant and Natsume if Asagiri ever wants to develop that part of Natsume's character.though the chance is low since Clairvoyant didn't even get mentioned in anime.
My question is,how much did he do or know to help Ranpo?Did he originally not plan to get kidnapped, but recognized Ranpo in the theater and decided to help him?
Or did he set up Fukuzawa and Ranpo to meet?Isn't it too convenient that V's plan of kidnapping happened the same day they met?Actually everything is a little bit too convenient.Natsume can easily leak his whereabouts to make it happen.
theory about Natsume's pov with Ranpo
Now here's a little theory explaining why he didn't help him himself before, even let him live on the street for a few months.
1.he's busy he's powerful he probably has to save the world once a month or something He couldn't always keep his eyes on him.
2.He didn't know Clairvoyant died and Ranpo's in Yokohama until like idk months later,we don't know when exactly Ranpo's parents gone.
3.Ranpo's father.Ranpo didn't know ability exists until Fukuzawa told him.His parents probably planned to tell when he grow up.Again his parents are very protective.
so Clairvoyant perhaps told Natsume something like"if something happened to me,please make sure my son is okay, but dont drag him into the dangerous world of you ability users"
Natsume didn't interfere at first because Ranpo seemed "fine".Sure he's lonely and unfit, but at least he's safe,he's smart he'll pull it through and find a way to fit into society right?
But he didn’t,things had been getting worse and worse,Ranpo's desperate and helpless.he's homeless,so lonely so close to having a breakdown.HE NEEDS HELP.
Like i said,he couldn't have always kept an eye on him.but i'd like to imagine when he realized how desperate Ranpo actually was,he started to take action, aka finding someone who can help him aka Fukuzawa.
He didn't take him himself because he gotta keep his mysterious vibe and has a loud smart brat would ruin that isn't the best choice when Fukuzawa is right there.Even if Fukuzawa wasn’t there he’ll find someone else for him(not Mori though, that guy is not allowed near children),if there's no other choices ultimately i think he would take care of Ranpo himself.
cannibalism arc
Another theory,Ranpo knew Natsume would interfere in the cannibalism arc.He knew he would be trapped in the book for a few days and there’s no way he thought Ada would successfully murder mori. But he still did it.Why?Because Chuuya is too powerful, his existence would simply change the situation,so to make sure Natsume’s plan won’t mess up,Ranpo had to take Chuuya out of the picture.Fukuzawa will be ok as long as the plan worked.
Relationship
I'm curious what their relationship is like?In untold origins,Ranpo seemed neutral, mostly because he was shocked by Natsume’s words and therefore didn’t have many other expressions.Even after that they’re having a serious conversation so yeah really can’t see much.i think he did respect Natsume to some degree, not so much like Fukuzawa, but still.
Now that he knows Natsume had a connection with his father and mayhaps knows him personally.(yk Natsume didn't have to keep his promise since no one else would know but he still did, either he’s just that loyal or him and Clairvoyant r good friends). He’ll be glad someone else remembers his dad not as “Clairvoyant” but his own person. I think they would have a good relationship.
Actually if they were really that close,do you think Natsume ever told Ranpo how proud his dad would be at him if he’s still alive,or or telling him stories of his father to keep the memories alive.
Ranpo&Natsume AU idea
I'm too deep in this rabbit hole but hear me out.We often talk about what would happen if Ranpo didn’t meet Fukuzawa like instead Mori or Fyodor got him.But what if is Natsume who adopted take in ranpo.Wouldn't it be cool?
If he can’t find someone to help him and eventually he had to take him himself. He can’t let Clairvoyant's son keep roaming on the street like that right?Imagine he thought it’s just temporary babysitting until he found somebody else. But no,Ranpo has clinged onto him and actually is slowly growing on him too.then BANG new father n son duo unlock.
ok but based on how the narrative describes Natsume,he’s very intelligent too.I think Ranpo would be happy around someone who is also smart too.Reminds him of his parents. He can help Ranpo adapt(?.Heck he may even help Ranpo without telling him he's an ability user.
idk what would yhe plotline go.Maybe the ada still somehow establish.Maybe Ranpo become a solo detective that's known for carrying a cat with him when solving crimes.Maybe Ranpo becomes some little assistant of Natsume, appears here and there, mysterious just like him.
ok i remember seeing a fic like that, but it's not focus on Natsume.basically it's just young Ranpo running around with Natsume on him and messed with skk.

Just got smacked in the face with a vivid image of Dazai finding out that Fukuzawa is the Silver Wolf Mori used to talk insistently about.
Like let's pretend for a moment Dazai just hasn't put two and two together and stumbles across a file while snooping (say, a year into his job at the Ada.)
He learns who Fukuzawa is, the Silver Wolf, a man Mori talked about in high esteem and with borderline respect. Instant celebrity like status in Dazai's funky little mind.
Dazai ambushes Fukuzawa in his office, shoves a random cat in his lap and demands a story of grandeur, note pad in hand, awe sparkling in his eyes. Fukuzawa, still waking up, only a sip of caffeine in his system just strokes the newfound lap cat and tells him a slightly embellished story of some job or another.
Dazai is further awed, and Fukuzawa earns a new story companion, one that will not think of him differently (negatively) after hearing his stories.

You brought up Naomi and that reminded me of the time Atsushi got kidnapped and while the others were like, debating whether or not to go save him, Naomi went to the president (which honestly is like telling your dad on your siblings) to tell him what was up KNOWING full well he’d prioritize Atsushi’s rescue
Right?? I adore that scene!! It's the one that keeps me from liking the character only out of spite to instead be able to say I genuinely like the character. That was such a badass move!! I'm really grateful to Naomi for being the only one able to symphatize with Atsushi in that moment. And using her position (?) to reach out to Fukuzawa, ahah, that was so cute!! I love her

Sometimes a family is an ex assassin who gave up his work because he enjoyed killing too much for it to be healthy, his daughter he rescued from being a child soldier who was so manipulated and used she believes her help is a fate worse than death, his son who feels so broken he has to believe he has superpowers because being the most intelligent man on Earth is not enough to make him feel worthy, and probably some cats

Dazai ,,,angst again w the ada but this is more of a general hc.
I feel like Dazai tries so fucking hard to distance himself from everyone, he feels like an intruder among the ADA and while the ADA has done everything they can to make him a part of the agency he always pushes away from them. Dazai does want to be loved and cared for but he fears getting attached to them even more, he is haunted by connections of past and everything ripped away from him over the years.
He falls for Kunikida and cares for Atsushi and Kyouka but he doesn't want them to hurt when he inevitably dies or leaves them due to circumstances. He cannot bear the idea of Kunikida grieving for him or any of them and while that nagging part of him says that they don't care about him and would be better off without him he still keeps a distance. Its not just for them, he feels selfish for wanting to be with them forever, he doesn't want to let go of his family here but he worries that maybe he will ruin everything. He is a pessimist when it comes to connections truely, he sits out in the rain to avoid the cozying up agency when the concern worsens after he is injured and if he scratches at old wounds no one will see him.
He is tired of running but hurting others to save them and himself is much easier than the opposite, the agency still pursues these connections as they chase him through it all and all of his attempts. Many times he has been left to bleed out and yells and lashes out on anyone who comes to help, he doesn't want to be touched, heard or felt in those moments. Dazai would gladly give up himself or anything to ensure them a happy safe life but unfortunately that is an unreasonable request, so he sticks around no matter how sick or injured he stays close to protect them from hits. He doesn't realize how badly him sacrificing himself against anyone at the smallest threat hurts the others, how Dazai using himself as a shield with no regard for his own safety breaks their hearts.
Dazai has patched himself up too many times to count until he gets tired and eventually they notice and for the next few days its quiet, they are doing their best to protect him without him noticing it is love and care for him. Kunikida massages his head and brushes his hair so gently on those days and sometimes even if Dazai denies the reaction of little bits of affection he gets from his partner he deeply enjoys it. Small notes and reminders to kisses on the head and tight hugs, Dazai adores it but it is such a terrifying feeling especially for a man who easily gets confused by someone sincerely asking how his day was as if its ridiculous anyone might care for him the littlest bit. Naps together are Dazai's favourite, he was never held so gently before Kunikida came along.
Yosano has had many stressful days of worrying over her coworkers wellbeing, he happens to throw himself in front of guns and into lakes so she does her best to figure it out from clues of how he walks and how he sits. She keeps stupid little snacks around for him from crackers to little oatmeal cookies to slide to him, she worries because this man can work for days straight and still say he doesn't need help or rest. To be completely honest he scares the shit out of her when he does all of that, she notices extra bandages and slight winces all the way to slight picking and scratching, but there isn't much she can do as he avoids her office like the plague and seems nervous around her. Yosano can only watch with a concerned gaze.
Ranpo gently encourages Dazai to actually make bonds with demands he cannot refuse, because he is Ranpo after all. He will drag Dazai from bakery to bakery to prove his points and make sure the brunette is actually communicating with them. He tells Dazai and Atsushi to go get him ridiculous requests just to get the two to talk like mentor and mentee, he knows that Dazai loves the ADA and is just stuck in this position of avoidance when it comes to actually opening up. Ranpo is proudest of getting Fukuzawa and Dazai to bond, he sends them on grand adventures to meetings and picking up things when the president isn't busy.
Despite it all Dazai fights it, but the ADA will not go down without a fair fight. They will get him to feel fully safe with them one day and maybe get him to let them help when he needs it, they are determined.
