I am legitimately baffled that no one has made a PMV for this, either for shipping stuff or just best pony stuff.

Also, there is no (Watsonian, the Doylist is that no one noticed) heterosexual explanation for this song, or at least its singer.

Also, even aside from the glaring lack of PMVs, the only uploads of this video are shoddy quality and/or YouTube Kids-friendly, and the one lyrics video I could find misspelled many words.

even though it's not true, i love the mlp timeline theory and it's variations. the idea of every generation being connected is pretty fun to think about!

my personal timeline is g1 > g3 > g2 > g4 > g1.5(?)/mlp tales > g5 . you can even fit gen 0 (my pretty pony) inbetween g2 and g4, maybe even around the g1 point if you really wanted.

g1 is first because humans, g3 is next because while no humans show up there are still holidays like christmas and valentines day, g2 because many important figures in g4's universe are named after ponies from this gen, then g4.

mlp tales is interesting because you have an semi-isolated town of earth ponies who are shocked to see pegasi/unicorns/alicorns--as if they didn't know they existed. if we go by what g5 has shown up so far, this could very well be a generation of ponies who were born waaay after the events of fim. ponies with wings and horns are myths to them.

they have "modern" technology (mostly 80s-90s tech due to the time period this show was created), and the only other mlp media containing anything like that besides equestria girls IS a new generation. this could very well take place 30-ish years before the events of g5. there was also an episode about "settler ponies" founding their town so take from that what you will.

after that its just g5 hehe. we're still learning about the events transpiring in between ANG and FiM so who knows!

fun fact i actually have characters inspired by the "pretty pony" gen that predate the birth of equestria, and who have strange variations of magic that dies out by the time g4 comes around. its a way to explore pre-equestria mlp while also repurposing ponies i like from pre g4 media hehe

An excerpt from Ben’s World of Transformers website about the new TF cartoon, Earthspark.

So, I previously went into the backstory of how the MLP “G1 / G2 / G3 etc” labels originally derived from Transformers toys having a set called “Generation 2″. So then fans retroactively called the previous set “G1″ (even though they weren’t technically marketed like that.)

And now, like a boomerang, the “Generation Whatever” label has whipped back around to hit Transformers again, now with the Gx.5 label, which derived from the MLP community as far as I know.  

Ben talks about “G1.5″ being used for certain European exclusive TF toys that appeared in the late 90s.  But the more well-known (imo) Gx.5 term was invented independently around 2009 when the pony molds for the Core 7 (Cheerilee, Pinkie Pie, and other G3 ponies) changed radically. There was a big fan argument about whether the new molds should be called G3s (due to still being the same characters in the same setting) or G4s (due to being new molds). Eventually fans split the difference and called the toys G3.5s.

What Ant Ward is describing is both similar and different from MLP’s G3 / G3.5 descriptors. Toys are not a factor (as Transformers has already made a bazillion different molds of Optimus, Megatron, etc), he is solely talking about continuity.  He’s using G1.5 to denote that Earthspark has a history similar to the G1 cartoon (though not identical), which then splits off into a new continuity.  For example, the events of the 1986 movie and beyond never happened in this universe, Optimus Prime is alive and well.  This is a “what-if” continuity compared to G1 TF.

Anyway, I am always tickled to see new iterations of the “Gx” label.

I need to watch g3 soon so I can definitively say which mlp generations are actually communist. I see too many people say g4 is communist and it is not. G4 takes place in a monarchy (there are also capitalist undertones) . G1 is communist as it takes place on a litteral moneyless commune. G1.5 takes place in early 90s Canada. And G3 I don't know enough about to make a statement on.
