what’s your favorite beth moment/episode?

OMG! There's literally so many to choose from (and yet it's still so little 😢 and that's not even counting the comics which have some of my fave actually)

Some of my fave moments (in no particular order):

in 'A Rickle in Time' I love her little smile when Rick says hi to her and she tries to approach him and the kids,, also later in the same episode when she's arguing with the veterinarian over the deer and when she's performing surgery on the deer (it's the first time where we really see that she's her father's daughter imo) AND at the end of the episode when she's laughing at Jerry's jokes about Rick and the kids wearing the collars (bonus for Rick's reaction that literally gets me everytime because he's so defeated by her laughing AT him that it kills me ok I hc that he loves making her laugh but hates the being the butt of the joke because there's at least four different times where we seem him actively trying to make her laugh 🥺🥺)

in 'Total Rickall' when the parasites have turned the family against Rick and tells her that he's her father and she's like "Oh, are you, dad? Are you?" tauntingly like it's soooooo good ok (hits a little different now too I suppose 💔)

every scene she has in 'The Rickshank Rickdemption', 'Pickle Rick', and 'ABCs of Beth', 'Star Mort', 'Mortyplicity' (one of my fave eps actually!!), and 'Bethic Twinstinct'

when she actually tries to mother the kids like with Summer in the 'whirly dirly' ep and 'The Old Man and The Seat' and Morty in the Planetina ep (I do not remeber the name sorry I actually don't really like that ep or the toilet one too much, I almost never rewatch them)

her little squeal at "my little steampunk overlord" in 'Childrick of Mort' AND her cute little speech to Rick before that Zeus guy came (he's soooooo fond of her dude that when Gaia tries to warn her about the Zeus guy that he doesn't want Gaia interrupting his "breakthrough with his daughter" AND AND he practically begs that guy not to destroy the city because it's Beth's!! Like he didn't care about the rock children, Gaia, or this Zeus guy but the fact that he got to practically play dolls with his little girl and he got sooo mad when she was about to feel the fog and when she said to leave the rock kids with Zeus because it made him feel inadequate as her father like the whole ep is just him being possessive over her as his daughter like ????)

when the hellraiser demon people in 'Amortycan Grickfitti' say that Rick said that she is, AND I QUOTE, "very cool" (emphasis on very omg!! Like I literally lost my mind at this ok, he praises her when she's not even around -- I thought this forever after Squanchy met her at BP's wedding and was all like "... and you must be Beth" like he had heard things about her from Rick already and that they were positive!!

kissing Rick on the cheek in 'Analyze Piss' omg (he does NOT deserve her affection but whatever lol)

Beth and Space Beth cuddling up to Rickbot (unknowingly) on the couch to watch Jerry's christmas movie in the s6 chirstmas ep (I forget the name) AND when they destroy Rickbot and then Beth puts his head on top of the christmas tree ????? She's sooo unhinged I love her so much

This pile may be in a place of indecision for having too many options, such that you are at a pivotal crossroads as to how you're moving forward in life. The seed you've sown this spring season is one of many hopes and dreams, you are investing in joy and embracing whatever form bears fruit come harvest time. You're realizing regardless of what you choose you will make the best of your circumstances and overcome whatever obstacles come your way— No one is getting between you and yourself ever again. You’re feeling overwhelmed and even a little weary accepting this responsibility. Despite your deeper knowing that you’re more than prepared and that there’s no better time than now, emotionally you fear making the same old mistake of getting ahead of yourself at the cost of something dear; for others of you this pertains to getting too attached to let something grow apart or away from you. Come Gemini season you’ll realize you’re more than supported in this undertaking, if you had pets or plants before, they remember you fondly in their heart of hearts. Call on them for support when you feel small, they’re just a beacon away. (I had a lot of frustrating false starts using my usual browser to finish this pile, until I switched to a different one. Perhaps that alludes to the perspective change you need to see this commitment through, you won't regret it Pile 2!)

You're manifesting a glow-up, Pile 3; it's happening and coming in hot for you this spring! You're glowing up body, mind, and soul, I heard; be prepared! You may have only recently cemented your resolve to fully commit yourself to your best interests: standing in your power without letting pride get in your way again. You may be restarting a fitness journey, or even getting back into creative pursuits like drawing or dancing; but this time allowing yourself to truly begin again as a novice. You're allowing yourself to be curious with grounded expectations, affirming to yourself that what you know won't hurt you as long as you keep your head down and mind open. You're grounding this summer shred into reality, if it's the last thing you do, I heard; take what applies! You're letting yourself take things slow and steady, because this is a change you want to make last; as you mold a version of yourself that will see the next summer and many more to follow, even if its not ready by this particular summer. You'll see the fruits of your labor by the end of spring season, and it will not be just a single bud.

Loopy the Hoopsnake - A classic cartoon character beloved by everyone around the world. Similar to Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. Started as a children's book series but branched out into cartoons, movies, comics, plays, basically any medium you can imagine.

Most fans are children, but the IP's age means that even the most ancient adults grew up consuming Loopy content, so it has an adult fanbase too. Isaac, Jeimos, and Annagrok are notable fans.

The funniest thing about Loopy is that he's depicted as this cute, friendly, lovable critter...but in reality, hoopsnakes are some of the ugliest, most vicious dragons in the world.

Star Rangers - An old Damijani TV series about elven astronauts exploring different planets. Basically the Star Trek of Looming Gaia. Though heavy with Damijani propaganda, the series was groundbreaking for its time and genuinely entertaining, so it found popularity in foreign lands too, spawning lots of different versions. Jeimos is a huge fan and secretly writes fanfiction about it. Ojio was also a fan, which is how Jeimos got introduced to it in the first place.

When I think of this series, I imagine a budget stop-motion production using puppets, similar to those old Rankin/Bass Christmas movies. Just imagine all the cheesy special effects!

Raiders of Rockreach - A comic book series loosely based on a real gang of Evangelite criminals. It's famously violent and gory, and even banned in some regions. Though Evangeline Kingdom takes pride in this popular series, they have recently made efforts to censor and "soften" it in recent times. Evan was a fan in his youth, but as an adult he expressed disgust towards it. Connor is still a big fan, claiming it's his favorite series, and hates the way it's been censored.

7. one thing i would change in canon: Oh man. There are...many things, lmao. The clear and obvious one is having Talanah join the base (as we now know was the original intention [rolling_in_the_deep.mp3]). But since that one is a given--completely toss the Zeniths out of HFW. Ground the narrative conflict in gathering the subfunctions, the collapsing biosphere, and Regalla's rebellion instead. Bring GAIA back only at the very end. Save the Zeniths for the major H3 antagonist instead, negating the need for Nemesis as the Bigger Fish. How absolutely baller would it have been if the Beta reveal came as a post-credits stinger instead? (Gerard's voice: "Are you ready to finally make yourself useful, Beta?" and then a camera pan over the face of a Sobeck clone, GOD)

8. something canon did right: The entirety of "Deep Secrets of the Earth" in HZD was a masterclass in storytelling. Every part of exploring PZD HQ was remarkable. The datapoints, the juxtaposition of "The Bad News" with "The Good News," the latter of which as the culminating reveal of the mystery that's been building throughout the entire narrative--it's pretty much perfection.

10. a character who is perfect to me (wouldn't change a thing): ALVA. My personal shining star amongst the HFW companions. I'm also contractually obligated to say Talanah here, even if I want to shake her by the shoulders sometimes (affectionate)

11. the character i relate to the most and why: This is a tough one. I see pieces of myself in a number of the characters, but I'm not sure if there's one that I'm like, yes, that is ME. I could prrooobably say Alva again? But it's not a definitely one-to-one.

12. character(-s) i hate the most and why: All the homies hate Ted Faro, that's for sure. But that's low-hanging fruit. So I'll give Amadis as well, though not for the seemingly-obvious reason--I cannot stand the sole purpose for which he was written, from the comic all the way through his weird unsatisfying ending in HFW. He's a repeated character with a repeated conflict that was already handled much more compellingly through Nil and is rendered useless and storyless by the end of Need to Know. Bringing him back in H3 would be the sorest mistake the narrative could make aside from a sacrificial ending for Aloy. He's just unneeded character bloat in an already-admittedly-bloated cast.

13. something i've learned from the fandom: You will make some of your very best friends here. Everyone is creative and hilarious and so smart. We all connect to the Horizon universe in a different way, and sharing your enthusiasm with others is what just makes the world feel even richer than what you could have imagined.

Sayori is an incredibly skilled craftswoman, being able to understand and replicate things just by reading about them. She often puts her own spin on it whenever she does it.

Sayori has a Light/Dark Gaia crystal always on her. She can use it at night after enough power is stored up to activate a secret form. What that form is, she refuses to tell.

Sayori had a voice box that lets her talk, with it tricking her brain waves into believing that her vocal cords are fine as they project her now digitized voice through the tiny speaker.

She doesn’t use the box often. It says her thoughts too often, leading to her chatting way too much to the point where she has to take it off

If she tried to talk without it, she’d choke on her own voice.

Once Sayori had her surgery, she stopped using the voice box. She definitely still has it on hand, though.

Sayori did die. In one world, and then in a few more. Her first case was due to trying to help, along with her second case… And the third. And the fourth.

Star actually used DNA samples from the MLP Universe to create Sayori. Specifically from Twilight Sparkle, Starlight Glimmer, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie. That's what guaranteed her to be an alicorn.

Sayori sometimes only hijacks control of people's bodies and not their minds. It lets her puppet people around with ease, all while they complain or panic.

It's incredibly useful during fights, where she can hijack a body and throw them into the way of an attack and not move away from it.

Sayori did have a girlfriend in a different universe, and she still loves those memories of her. She kinda wishes the version of her from this world would like her like she did.

Sayori occasionally gets chest pains or headaches due to her original fatal injuries in other worlds.

Sayori would prefer to not fight unless necessary, but is more than willing to do so.

Sayori can be just as chaotic as her mother.

Sayori is often seen “radiating” positivity. This is part of the Pinkie Pie genes.

2. what is your blog or graphic aesthetic or motif? why? It's mostly whatever @ppctts makes me because I CANNOT DO ANYTHING aesthetic XD but honestly she's made me so many pretty things and it's mostly around Kaylee being a sunshine, sunflower, star child and I am so grateful to Gin that she spends any amount of time making me these pretty things. I love her so much.

7. what universe have you never considered writing in? why? uuuuh well I'm sure there are some universes/fandoms that I'm not familiar with/even realize exist so those because of my ignorance LOL but I'm gonna say for the same reason DC stuff?? It's intimidating and like yeah I'm here for comics but I just don't know DC that well and I don't wanna try to manipulate DC story lines to the already complicated Marvel shit XD

16. how have your faceclaim choices changed over time? So Happy once upon a time was Michael Weatherly in an oooooold thing I wrote, back before I really had an idea of his character beyond the little bits we get in comics. But when I decided to bring him on for the sole purpose of simping after @ppctts the queen of fcs @dr-foster suggested Jay Ryan because of IT Chapter 2 and honestly I have not looked back.

For Kay, admittedly I had a very different FC for her adult verses but that person has since been what's the nice way of saying triggering and just not a good person. I don't always change my FCs over cancel culture stuff because I believe people are allowed to make mistakes but this was beyond even my comfort level. But I'm so glad I changed Kay's adult fc to be Joanna Garcia Swisher. She's precious and adorable and it really gave me an avenue to explore this kind of character further than what I had originally thought of, plus Joanna was originally my @cheeseburgersandwarbirds FC for Carol before we stumbled upon the amazing Yvonne and I thought it was a nice call back to our gaia days XD

19. who was the first faceclaim you remember using, who? for what canon? So throw back to gaia days in 2009 I was in fact using RDJ for my Tony. It wasn't too long after the first Iron Man movie came out when my lovely Noon invited me to come write with her. But it was before I knew much about the comics. So I decided to go back and throw myself into the comics reading from the very beginning when I realized Tony was a little different in the comics than the movie. He was younger, blue-eyed, had a sort of classic rat pack charm that didn't exactly translate into the movie because they were going more for his sarcastic vibe which was fine but I realized I really enjoyed comic book Tony more and around the same time there was this show called White Collar and just Neal Caffrey had all the charm, vibe, good nature, snark, intelligence, and suave that comic Tony had and so it wasn't very long that I started using Matt Bomer as my Tony FC also back in 2009 and honestly I've never looked back.

23. What skills have you gained by roleplaying? uuuuh typing rather quickly without looking at the computer???? XDD I don't know. Maybe some patience? I've learned a lot about myself, and I've learned that not everyone is going to like you. It stings sometimes but when I get focused on the people who love and care for me it outweighs a lot of the negative that comes with RPing.

Mash Kyrielight

Essentially Garnet's moral compass. Garnet doesn't really want to be doing the whole 'Master of Chaldea' thing -- she's pretty convinced humanity is going to cause the apocalypse and kill Gaia herself -- but she made a deal with something beyond the stars, and that thing wants to play hero with her corpse. Mash is the catalyst for Garnet actually wanting to save people as a general concept, and Mash is also the person who would slap some sense into Garnet if she goes all ecofascist or generally gets murderous impulses.

Van Gogh

One eats out of love and one wants to be eaten to feel loved, this should be a relationship that gets digested before it can begin. By the time that Garnet would encounter Van Gogh, though, Mash has done a lot of good work with her, and her desire to eat people so they don't have to deal with life's burdens has been tempered in her greatly. They've got similar stuff going on -- being used by Outer Gods for their own purposes, rampant identity issues, bearers of unrequited love that fundamentally changed the course of their lives and sunflower motifs -- but they approach it in different ways, leading to mutual sympathy even though they both behave very differently.

Garnet treats her a bit like a princess at first, someone to tend to like a gardener pruning away the disease off a withered tree. Due to her rampant projection onto her, caring for Clytie's emotional wounds feels like caring for her own. However, a one-sided relationship of being nurtured isn't particularly deep, and eventually, Van Gogh will have to plant seeds in the empty spaces of Garnet's heart for the feelings to be truly mutual. (Literally. I'm drawing a comic about that one.)

It's the kind of thing where it takes them a long time to truly be on the same page, but they'd both work at it pretty hard because the other person is who they are. The mere concept of doing that too is, in various ways, meaningful to the both of them.

Garnet could also, conceivably, use Van Gogh's bathwater to trip so hard she sees the future. This is irrelevant to most things.

Sakata Kintoki

I talked about it in the narrative foils section here, but Kintoki has a lot of similarities to her and would both sympathize with her while also stopping her when she needs stopping. Mash helps develop Garnet's moral compass, but Kintoki would act as a series of checks and balances to convince Garnet not to do self-destructive shit. His simple ideas and ways of speaking make it harder for her to long-windedly work herself up into a tizzy, and often he says things that are so straightforwardly blunt that it confuses her so much she calms down.

Hijikata Toshizo

They are both battle hungry hyper-determined nutjobs and would cause untold destruction to those around them. Hijikata Toshizo teaches her that guns are highly valuable weapons. Garnet makes the 'wolf of Mibu' thing less metaphorical by encouraging Hijikata to eat things with her in a bloodlust. He would throw her through a window so she could stab a guy. Leaving them alone in a room together is dangerous, unless you keep a tea set with them, and then they'd have a lovely time together reading poetry.

Due to Garnet's disconnection with other people, she'd be weirdly... jealous of Hijikata's connection to the Shinsengumi, and would sometimes fantasize about a world where she could have been a part of it in life. (This is based on unhealthy idealization. Please don't glamorize the police, Garnet!)

Sen no Rikyu

Assuming that Rikyu enters Garnet's life during the GUDAGUDA event she debuts in, a Master/Servant relationship between Garnet and Rikyu would begin with a substantial amount of distance, even if they seem to hit it off immediately, because they'd fall naturally into a teacher/student dynamic.

Rikyu's mentality towards life would do a lot to temper Garnet's particular anxieties, and Rikyu would refine her education in the areas she's lacking in b/c she spend a lot of her teenage years eating people instead of studying philosophy. Garnet wouldn't be sensitive to the ghosts and grudges Rikyu carries around though, due to Garnet's own prior-status as a reliquary of souls, but she'd be polite enough not to ask questions.

Also, Rikyu being money-hungry is a huge bonus to Garnet. While Garnet hates participating in modern capitalistic-based society, she finds great satisfaction in numbers going up, so she'd treat business with Rikyu similar to a game... and Garnet loves games.

Once <GUDAGUDA SPOILERS> happens though, this greatly bridges the gap between them, because GOD DOES GARNET GET IT, LOL. What if she just broke her diet and ate Hideyoshi!!!!! What then!!!

She and Komahime would get on quite well, once they meet. Garnet is a bit trendier than Rikyu is, while not being as trendy as Komahime, so which one she'd side with in the various disagreements is up in the air. It'd be a 'big sister' kind of dynamic with her and Koma.

Caster Artoria

castoria would look at garnet and see the shambling corpse of a woman she really is. she would look at her and see the crow eating the carrion corpses of the manifold dead. she would see the mirror-pool that reflects everything back at her -- and in it she would also see inarguable honesty, because garnet apotheo demands and gives the unfiltered truth.

for once, garnet would look upon a star and think it is beautiful, and not a reflection of the festering cosmos sewn into her chest. she would think she herself is perhaps beautiful as well.
