Being a Senator came with a large responsibility, a large responsibility came with a lot of work, and a lot of work took up a lot of your time. You knew what you signed up for when Garm bel Iblis, Senator of Corellia, asked you to take over his position within the Galactic Senate. You had been by his side for years as his right hand, working as his assistant. You proved your loyalty for not only him but for the Planet of Corellia, he trusted you, proving your right for Senator. 

You’ve been in the Senate for a few years now, creating peace and union between Corellia and the many other Planets across the Galaxy, learning how to benefit from one another, helping Corellia flourish stronger than ever. One of the many Planets being Naboo, run by Senator Padme Amidala, she was kind and it helped that the two of you followed the same beliefs when it came to politics. When you first pitched the idea for Naboo and Corellia to create a union, you promised that Corellia would send food supplies over to Naboo, in exchange for protection through association. Senator Amidala was quick to take the offer especially due to Naboo’s trade blockade which was designed to ruin them. Naboo was left helpless after Sanandrassa had held to a policy of isolation which unwittingly assisted Sidious' plans to weaken Naboo, depleting its stocks of food, leaving its people in danger of starvation and by blockading Naboo they were effectively starving the planet’s people of basic needs such as food, in order to obtain a main source of income as well as power. So when you offered to help the people of Naboo rather than rob them dry of their planet’s core, Senator Amidala was more than eager to agree to the alliance of Corellia and Naboo. 

Having made this union, the two of you have spent many days, and countless hours working alongside each other, creating not only a partnership but a new found friendship. You enjoyed her company and there was no denying that she enjoyed your company just as much, working with each other never felt like a chore, never felt like a burden on either of your shoulders, dare you say it was rather fun. The bond you shared was like no other, eventually you found yourself sparking these forbidden feelings that never once should have come to fruition. Padme’s hand rested on her chin, she was thinking hard, what she was thinking, you wished you knew but you knew it would be something selfless as always. “I will not bring chaos into my home, Naboo is meant to hold peace and serenity. . I can’t do that by making my people worry about the loads of weaponry we have on stand-by.” She said sternly not lifting her eyes at you. 

“I understand that Padme, but how are you going to keep your people safe if another attack like Nute Gunray’s happens again.” You raised your voice to her, you were frustrated, Padme wouldn’t open her mind to the bigger picture, she needed to understand that these reinforcements would become handy incase of another attack. Her eyes finally looked up to face you, you felt your heart skip a beat as you lifted yourself off her desk and walked over to her. “Look Padme, I’m just trying to help create a solution to keep the people of Naboo safe, to keep you safe!” 

“I can Handle my own safety” She was quick to nip back at you. It was true she could handle herself just fine, she was a strong leader, who knew how to defend her ground but you could never help but worry. “ I didn’t mean to suggest you alone need protection, my love.” You said softly, gently resting your hands on her hips. “ I just get worried. As it carries the Progressive Party's reputation of being the "party of the Rebellion" and the standard-bearer of Mothmism, the PPP enjoys widespread popularity and is the largest party in the Senate, despite surging poll numbers for the opposition after a half-decade of PPP governance. Liberal Party (center, 56 seats): Socially liberal and fiscally moderate, the Liberal Party is one of the few parties to survive from the time of the Old Republic in its current form. The Progressive Party was originally a splinter faction from the Liberals, and they affiliate with its successor the PPP in the government coalition. Led by Rees Vera of Mikkia.

Federalist Party (center-left, 39 seats): A social liberal party which advocates for increased decentralization of the New Republic and the establishment of devolved regional governments. Led by Boona Kalan of Taris.

Core Alliance (right, 10 seats): A coalition of wealthy and influential Core worlds, whose priority is securing and expanding the privileges traditionally afforded them. Led by Jonas Piven of Alsakan.

Anti-Jedi Party (far right, 3 seats): One of the few parties to exist in its current form since the time of the Old Republic. Far right and conspiratorial, it gained some popularity after the Clone Wars due to a conspiracy theory spread by its leader about Emperor Sheev Palpatine being a secret Jedi who had worked with the Jedi Council to seize power, only to then betray his fellow Jedi in order to consolidate power around himself. THE STORY SO FAR: It has been years since the end of the Galactic Civil War. The New Republic struggles to rebuild the galaxy after decades of Imperial rule, locked in a cold war with the remnant Pentastar Alignment. All the while, in the dark corners of the galaxy, organized crime groups compete with each other to gain power in the galactic underworld after the collapse of the Hutt Cartel. Now, the crew of the transport ship the Rambler have been thrust into this gritty, cutthroat world...

LAST TIME: After the crew of the Rambler arrived at Naboo, they delivered Cloud City's Baron Administrator to their Republic countact and spent some time shopping for upgrades to their weapons while Janica tinkered with the ship's hyperdrive. Eventually, Bhuri's desire to go fishing spiraled into a heated battle with an Opee Sea Killer which the whole crew got dragged into. After heroically killing the beast, the crew left its rotting corpse for the locals to clean up before blasting back into hyperspace, en route to Corellia. Landing at Halcyon Transport Solutions headquarters, Ced recruited the Mon Cal droidsmith Qorol to help him fix and reprogram the HK droid the crew defeated on Hoth, before the crew attended a military parade, where Garm Bel Iblis, Wedge Antilles, and an unknown Jedi gave speeches. After the parade was over, the crew approached the Jedi, before a shot rang out, and the Jedi was suddenly clutching his shoulder...

I really have to compliment you on the Leia only knows democracy as a theoretical idea? in actual practice she has no clue the in and outs as a lived thing, cause all her organizations were so much more fluid and always in crisis and on fire. So her having an arc where she and allies try and manage something should be fun. I imagine Bail consort to a Queen is a no go, as is Padme, only one I can think of is Garm bel iblis the corelian senator who was a rebel general. course a rando is fun too.

Thanks. I know I've read stuff (fic mostly) that suggests that Leia was elected to her Senate seat, but I've always looked at Alderaan and it having consecutive royal family members as "elected" officials in the Senate and sort of side-eyed that claim. I think it fits with Leia's character in a lot of ways that she believes in theoretical democracy, but is waaaaaaay comfortable inheriting her ruler-ship of Alderaan because her experience with democracy has really always been just that. Theoretical.

Revealing elections results would sadly be Spoilers, but I'm enjoying seeing the speculation.

Last I heard, you were dating that senator, the older one with the ‘stache,” Quin mused as he grinned to himself while he drove, recalling the news coverage of Satine Kryze entertaining Garm Bel Iblis, a dashing salt-and-pepper haired political figure from a small European country. “What happened? Did you realize you didn’t like eating dinner with the seniors?”

In the backseat, Satine grimaced. Quinlan’s needling was a worthy distraction for her nerves, though, and she shot him a glance as she reassured him, “He’s not that old! And Garm was just a plaything. We had fun for a couple weeks. There was really nothing more there.”

Obi-Wan glanced back at her and remarked, “He’s twenty years older than you, Satine.”

“And your latest conquest was, what? Fifteen years younger than you?” Satine raised an eyebrow and smirked.

So, first things first NO THRAWN MAKES ME SO SAD 😭😭

In my heart I knew that we weren't going to get to see him yet but not being able to see him upsets me greatly.

So onto the actual content of the episode:

The Rebels fan in my heart was so so so happy when we saw Hera and Sabine interacting. I love them so much. As well as Chopper my beloved.

Morgan is literally just every Thrawn Girly™️ "Thrawn is calling to me" girl SAME now go find my MANS PLEASE.

Shin and Baylon are fucking sick, I love them. The first two episodes are a really good set up for what's to come.

Huyang roasting Sabine's force sensitivity sent me.

While I'm still not sold on Sabine being force sensitive I'm keeping an open mind to see where it goes.

The Loth Cats as well are the cutest.

As soon as they mentioned Corelia I was really hoping we would get a mention of Garm Bel Iblis but I know that's just because I just finished reading the Heir trilogy so my little brain is looking for any and all legends references I can find.

Like if they mention Bilbringi, Sluis Van, the Katana fleet, Wayland, or anything like that I'm gonna scream (even though I know we won't because so far nothing mentioned has been legends adjacent)

Also part of me is maybe wondering if Baylon Skoll is the stand in for C'baoth 🤔🤔

Overall, I really enjoyed it, but would have enjoyed it more if Thrawn was there.

Either way it was an amazing set of episodes and now I enter Waiting Mode™️ for the next week.

Star Wars for the fandom asks?

Character I first fell in love with:

So I first saw Star Wars at such a young age that I don't remember the first time I watched it. My parents had at one time a VHS home video made of various old photographs intended to help preserve them in case something happened (the photographs have since been digitized, I don't know if the VHS was too) but in the background you can here tiny little me watching Star Wars and quoting my favorite parts already.

I remember adoring Luke and Leia and Han already when I was four? Five? I dunno, young. So I'll go with all three of them. Cannot pick a fav beyond that.

Character I never expected to love as much as I do now:

Anakin Skywalker. Don't get me wrong, Vader was cool in a badass villain way, but Anakin turned out to be a bit of a dork and I love that about him. The movies didn't do a great job of selling me on the character, but the extended universe - particularly the Clone Wars animated series - really fleshed him out and made him into someone I actually enjoy.

Character everyone loves but I don’t:

Garm Bel Iblis from Legends. He's an interesting character and it is generally a good thing when he shows up, but I never quite got over the fact that he misread Mon Mothma's character so badly he expected her to name herself Empress. He basically had a disagreement with her right after Alderaan blew up after which he essentially took his toys (his own rebel sect) and went home (to fight the Empire separately from the main rebellion) and refused to show up for years after the Rebellion founded the New Republic because he sincerely thought Mon Mothma was that much of a power hungry asshole.

Mon Mothma.

Just... let that sink in for a bit.

Character I love but everyone else hates:

Callista Masana (later Callista Ming). I don't know that she's exactly hated, but she's a love interest for Luke who wasn't Mara Jade so... you know... While I don't like her as a love interest for Luke - he was so awkward with her, the poor arospec farm-boy - I do like her overall character arcs and I do feel like her inability to connect to the light side of the force is wasted as a storyline when she popped back up after the loosely connected trilogy she first showed up in.

Her method of returning to life from death caused her ability to touch the Force to become so warped that she could only utilize the Dark Side from that point forward. Doesn't that sound fascinating? Way more fascinating than being absorbed by a dark side entity who impersonated her to screw with her ex boyfriend Luke Skywalker. Am I right???

Character I used to love but don’t any longer:

Jacen Solo. I love his early years in Legends but once he turned to the dark side I kinda burned out on him real quick. A lot of my issues with Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is that he's basically Jacen Solo minus any of Jacen's redeeming qualities.

Character I would kiss:

No kissing but I would happily accept platonic cuddles from Obi-Wan. Goodness knows he needs them.

Character I want to slap:

Qui-Gon Jinn. So much would have been averted if he hadn't been a bit of a self centered asshole. As poorly as he handles things with Obi-Wan in the movie? He's so much worse in the books.

A pairing I love:

Finn/Poe - it's so cute and it was hilarious to me how much the actors embraced the ship too.

A pairing I hate:

Rey/Kylo Ren - it's so creepy, creepy, creepy.
