Little drabble. Summary: Work sucks, Simon is here to tell you to take a break and care for yourself.
@itsscromp
The base had been crowded for way too long. Or so it felt that way. Running around constantly, feeling burnt out from the lack of breaks as you all tried to keep the base in order and on top. A new flurry of recruits had been transferred in and you were running papers back and forth and training regimens like it was a sport.
Unfortunately your lack of any breaks hadn't particularly helped you in any way. Feeling from the lack of food, the lack of sleep. The things going on in your mind as you flopped down at your desk for the final time just as another pile of papers was delivered.
Your head fell into your hands, wanting even just a nap. But your day wasn't over and break was yet to come. You exhaled heavily, attempting to sit up and look at the paper, staring at it. More files to fill out over and over in the same order.
It felt like the same damn thing and you couldn't handle it. Feeling drained and exhausted from the labor load you weren't used to carrying. As if the whole base was weighing on your back. Even if it wasn't true.
Then there was a knock at the office door, a familiar figure drifting into the entryway. "You busy??"
"What do you think??" You replied tiredly, hunched over your work.
Simon hummed softly. "Sergeants and I are headin' for a drink later, feeling up to comin'?"
You shrug. "I dunno... I don't think I have the energy today guys. I think I'm just gonna go straight to bed."
Simon was quiet for a moment, about to leave it at that when he saw how exhausted you were. The way you zoned out a little, barely holding yourself up like your spine weighed a thousand pounds.
He came to the side of your desk, touching your back. "Come, you need sleep."
"Simon I have to finish this."
"It's ok, you don't have to do it now."
"But if I don't do it now I'll never be able to do it!" You look up at him, the clear frustration in your eyes.
Simon remained soft, silent. "It isn't due for a week Y/n, you can spare some sleep. Come on." His other hand came to your elbow and helped to lift you up out of your chair.
"I know it's frustrating and exhausting, but we'll get through it. It's just some extra work, old man won't chew ya out for a nap."
You nod, hugging him as tight as you could. "Can you stay??"
He runs his hand down your back. "Wasn't plannin' to leave. I'll tell the others I'm busy, right?"
"Right."
Simon nods, bringing you to your room. There he let's you get out of your gear and slip into something more comfortable. When you're ready he comes in and gets into your bed first.
You don't hesitate to climb on, snuggling up to him, nuzzling under his chin and getting comfortable in the protection of his large frame.
"I got you sergeant." Simon said quietly, rumble soaking through his voice, vibrating against your chest.
Your eyes close and you wrap your arms around him as tightly as you could. "Thanks Simon."
He closes his eyes, still rubbing your back gently. "Always, I got you. I always got you."
Simon always took care of you, even when you forgot to take care of yourself. The exhaustion took a toll on you, falling asleep in his arms, knowing you were safe where you were. You slept longer than you expected, but it was good.
You woke up to the quiet sounds of rain trickling down your window. Simon still holding you close. It was warm, and comfy. You looked around, your eyes still a little heavy. So you rested against Simon, listening to the rain, feeling comforted again.
Simon shifted, humming as he woke up, something he did a lot. He noticed you awake and loosened his grip a tad. "Sleep well then??"
You nod, snuggling up to him again. "Yeah, slept great. Only with you though."
"Glad I could be here then. Just making sure my sergeants to kill themselves, run yourselves into the ground. I can't let that happen, right?"
"Right." You whisper.
Simon sat up, slowly shifting you out of his arms. "Don't move, I'll be right back."
"Where are you going??"
"I'll be right back." He repeats, sliding off the bed and patting across the floor to the door. He slipped out and remain gone for a bit.
When you heard the door click open again you smiled, the smile growing when you saw Simon had a plate of food and a cup of water. "Suppose you didn't get dinner."
"Thank you, Si."
You sit up, shifting as Simon places the plate on your lap. He places down the cup of water on your nightstand and waits, watching.
It's a little creepy but, he probably doesn't mean it that way. "you gonna sit back down buddy?"
Simon nods. "Yes... Just want to make sure you're eating. Can't have something happening later on."
"Well that's very kind of you Simon."
"I'm not three."
You shrug. "Come on, get comfy again big guy. Once I'm finished this I'm still wanting cuddles."
He shrugs, crawling back into the bed, snuggling under the blankets in waiting. His eyes close, resting there, listening to you. Aware of what you're doing.
You finish the food and drink the glass of water. Once it has a moment to settle you snuggle back under the blankets as well and curl right up to Simon.
Simon huffs and smiles softly under the mask, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you against him. "Get all the rest you need." He whispers.
Your hands curl up, eyes closing and listening to Simon's thumping heartbeat. A steady reminder you weren't alone. Even when the workload felt too much for you to lift alone. You weren't alone.
You always had them there for you. Him. You had Simon and the others. Always there to take the hand that needs help. Because that's what a team does. That's what friends do.
So damn it if Simon won't help you. Because he will. He always will.
Not the longest thing but I wanted to make it. After work cuddle comfort.

- Good News -
“Would you like something to drink?”, Phil eagerly asked the young Mormon missionary, who’d just knocked on his door just a couple of minutes ago, asking if he would like to hear about the Savior. Phil invited him in, but of course, he was more interested in the young man than Jesus Christ. “Sure, a tea would be fine, thank you very much!”, said the naïve youth in a short-sleeves, white collared shirt with charcoal poorly fitted gray suit pants and cheap dress shoes.
“So Aaron, how old are you now?” Phil asked, while pouring the tea inside a mug, and sprinkled in some mysterious, tasteless white powder. “I just turned 20 last month”, Aaron nervously answered. “This is actually the first time I go out on my own, without a chaperone”. Well, well, a lucky day for Mr. Phil...
Aaron slowly sipped on the tea as he went through the pamphlets. The whole time Phil just stared at the young man who was sitting next to him on the couch instead of the papers in front of him, anxiously anticipated the sign of the “sugar” taking effect on the unsuspected victim.
“Phew, isn’t it a little hot in here?” Aaron felt a little woozy and started to sweat.
“Why don’t you loosen that tie off? Here, let me help you...” Phil reached out and attempted to grab the young man’s necktie, but Aaron recoiled and stood up, but suddenly a strange force just invaded his mind, and the room began to spin in front of him.
“I... I think I should go...” Aaron mumbled as his lips became numb.
“But I don’t want you to go.” Phil smirked. “Stay here with me. It’s my turn to show you some great stuff...”
Aaron stepped backward away from the creepy man, but his motor control started giving up on him. He tripped on the carpet and nearly fell on his back, had Phil not catching him on time and let the stunned young man collapse onto his lap instead. As Aaron passed out soundly on Phil’s manboobs, he caressed the Mormon brown hair with one hand and the other unfastened the young man’s tie and shirt buttons all the way down. He gave the sleeping missionary a gentle pat on the chest over his moist white undershirt, and then bridal carried him to another room. Aaron’s lanky frame did not cause any trouble to the older man, and Phil finally laid him on his bed. He continued removing Aaron’s clothing items there, from his ugly short sleeve button-up shirt to his under shirt, then down to his belt and trousers and shoes, until there were only the “magic underpants” and socks on.
Phil proceeded to bind the young man’s legs over his socks with a fluffy pink handcuff, and did the same with his hands, and put a ball gag in his drooling mouth. He then with one hand pulled down the unconscious missionary’s underpants and jacked him off until his dick became rock hard, while the other one did the same for himself. He then kneeled over the youth and frotted him Unfortunately the drug did not help maintaining an erection, so Phil gave a penis ring to Aaron, as a souvenir. After covering the young man’s popsicle with his cock juice, Phil took some photos of the Mormon in compromising position with a Polaroid. He kept most the pictures in a hidden stash, alongside others of those who came before Aaron, and left one in the pocket of the young man’s trousers.
_______
Aaron suddenly woke up on Phil’s couch, fully dressed as if he just took a cat nap in a strange man’s living room. There, he had the oddest dream ever; it made him both embarrassed and... excited. Aaron just grabbed his belongings and made a quick getaway without saying goodbye to the host. As the sun started to go down, the young missionary worried if he’d be reprimand for his misbehavior. He felt something in his pants obstructing his strides down the street, which reminded him about the weird dream he had earlier. He looked down, trying to adjust what seemed to be just a wedgie without letting other people around him notice, and something in his pocket caught his attention. He did not remember having any pamphlet there; he then pulled out a small photo, and upon looking at it, he was completely petrified: it had on it the image of him rocking a red ball gag, with someone else’s penis resting on his sleeping face.

Why did you elbow me? 202
Achilles Castle part 104
Lemonade and lies Part 47
Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek undercover part 11
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov i’m so thankful Lanie replied to my text. Stana isn't really with it yet I can see the tow truck down the road headed in our direction. She is holding onto me tight.
Tow truck driver: pov sir what seems to be the problem, your tire blew. Oh okay, is she okay. The man named Grieg tells me that Stana has some health issues and PTSD, he also just gave Stana her meds, he explains the tire blowing freaked her out. I tell them while I hook up the car so it can be towed, they can get in the tow truck. Once in the truck Greig tells me a little bit more about Stana's medical history.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov the guy at the repair shop I spoke to says it shouldn't take too long to fix the tire. Kate is looking much better. The receptionist put the TV on some cooking show for Kate to see if it helps. I called Noelle when we first arrived at the repair shop to let her know what happened.
Kate/Stana: pov I'm feeling a lot better now, the food on this cooking show looks amazing. I wonder how my Dad, Castle, Alexis and Martha are. I hope the boys and Lanie are safe.
Fin tutuola: pov me and Olivia have been sitting inside of Noelle's apartment for a bit quietly talking waiting for Draquan to show up he should be home soon. Liv had Noelle record what she usually says when he comes home so he doesn't get suspicious. I always have her back and she has mine. As soon as his keys are in the lock Liv hits play on the message. We don't want him running once he is in the door. Me and Olivia are on him with our guns drawn.
Olivia Benson: pov I handcuff the suspect while fin has his gun pointed at the guy. In the squad car I text Kate on her burner phone that Draquan has been arrested. I’m not sure Noelle should go home tonight just in case he makes bail. So Fin wants to get some food, Cassidy is watching Noah tonight since I knew I was going to be late.
Fin tutuola: pov how is it working out with you and Cassidy.
Olivia Benson: pov come on Fin what do you mean by that.
Fin tutuola: pov you know me and Munch have a bet on you and Elliot.
Olivia Benson: pov I know about the bet Fin someone asked me about the bet, years ago. what did you think I wouldn't find out. So Elliot has been bugging me to hangout, it's just that he doesn't understand that I'm not the same person I moved on. I get it that he loves me and I do love him but not in the same way.
Fin tutuola: pov you know what you have to be honest with him tell him how you really feel and that you moved on from him.
Olivia Benson: pov Hold on Fin, Cragen is calling me for some reason. Is everything okay, captain. What do you mean he died in his sleep. But was he sick or something Fin talked to him the other day and he sounded fine.
Fin tutuola: pov oh no this can't be good, I hear Cragen says is fin with you, great make sure he is sitting down. Liv says sure. I hear Cragen say I will call the others. From the sound of it omeone must have died.
Olivia Benson: pov Fin pull over for a second, I know you were trying to listen to my conversation with dad and what I have to say to you is not good news. Munch died In his sleep earlier today he went to take a nap and never woke up.
Fin tutuola: pov oh wow I never expected this to happen so soon. Liv says dad is calling everyone else from back in the day and she will call Cassidy. I switch places with her so she can drive. Since our plans changed it's decided that we are stopping for pizza on the way back to the squad room. After grabbing a few pies Liv parks in the precinct parking lot. She texts Cragen letting him know she bought pizza and if others want to come share their memories of Munch they can. While Liv is on the phone with Cassidy I call phoebe to let her know what happened, i hold the door open for Liv even though we are both carrying a bunch of pizza pies.
Olivia Benson: pov Cassidy is bringing Noah to the precinct and Fin said Phoebe was also coming to the squad room.
Amanda Rollins: pov as soon as Liv and Fin arrive at the precinct carrying a bunch of pizza pies I can tell something is wrong they both look like they have been crying a little. I help them put the pizza boxes down. Liv tells us all to go to the conference room. She has something important to tell us. She says Cragen called a few minutes ago, it looks like Munch died earlier today he went to take a nap and never woke up. Liv and Fin then head off to her office probably to have some privacy to grieve. Muncy and Joe ask who Munch is. I mention Sergeant John Munch was Fin's old partner before me.
Muncy: pov Liv said something before she headed to her office about other officers possibly showing up for pizza. Amanda says I should get the paper plates and Joe should get some drinks ready.
Elliot: pov cragen called to tell me the news about Munch, he also said something about the SVU order pizza and for the friends of Munch to join them. Bell and Jet offer to join me. As soon as we arrive I notice a bunch of officers. I don't see Liv or Fin, I ask Amanda where they are. She says Liv is In her office with Noah and Cassidy, she is explaining to Noah that Munch died and if you're looking for Fin he is in interrogation 1 with Phoebe he’s taking munch’s death a little hard. To be continued.

Eddie Munson x male reader
A/B/O
Male pregnancy,. Omegaverse, gay, mlm
Tumblr media
Eddie woke to the sound of vomiting echoing through the small home, patting beside him to realize (name) wasn't beside him.
Getting up he wandered to the bathroom to see that his mate was in fact throwing up his dinner from last night "shit baby..." Eddie said rubbing the omegas back whose body shook violently.
"I-I think I need to get a pregnancy test..." (Name) mumbled as he let Eddie lift him up and set him on the bathroom counter and fill the cup set beside the sink and let (name) rince his mouth out, while (name) did that Eddie grabbed prepped the omegas toothbrush.
"Thank you baby..." (Name) mumbled brushing his teeth slow and lazy before spitting it out and rinsing once more "sorry I woke you..."
"Don't be sorry baby, let's get you back to bed" Eddie said kissing (name)s forehead and lifting him up and carrying him back to bed, the alarm on Eddie's side showing its only five am, Eddie didn't even have to leave till 9.
"I think in pregnant again..." (Name) mumbled against Eddie's warm chest, snuggling closer as his head pounded "well seeing as we just finished your heat last week, I wouldn't doubt it"
"(Sons name) might be a big brother..."
"We can book a doctor's appointment if you want" Eddie said softly and (name) nodded "come with me?"
"Wouldn't miss it"
X
Turns out (name) was in fact pregnant, the Omega exhausted from this morning and so, Eddie took their one and a half year old to the shop while (name) napped.
Not without scenting stuff of course.
"Let's go little man" Eddie said as the two gave (name) a kiss on the head, (name) smiling at his pups precious attempt at a smooch.
It was the weekend so that meant a fair amount of kids.
Eddie and (name) often dressed their son in little overalls, the tot was often getting into messes and it was easier to keep his shirt clean.
Also because they would tie a balloon to the back along with a bell so people knew where the boy was.
(Sons name) was a good boy though, usually sticking around his dad and behind the glass table where the register was and colored with his crayons on a new coloring book he got.
"Oh snap it's my favorite nephew!" Dustin said as the party walked into the shop "Didi" (sons name) Squealed at the sight of his uncle and had his dad help him hop down from the stool and rush to Dustin "what's up little man?" Dustin asked lifting his nephew up "dang getting big, huh"
"Yeah he's big brother sized"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't worry to much about it" Eddie loved teasing his brother in law, the younger Henderson looking confused along with the other teens but max seemed to click into it but opted to not say anything.
It was funnier to see Dustin rattle his brain.
The teens went off and played in the game section, leaving the father and son to handle the register aka Eddie handles it and (name) gives them their receipt and a store card.
Coming home was a blessing, seeing his mate sleeping and snuggled into blankets on the couch just made his day infinitely better, the icing being the fact he was pregnant with his pup.
"Be quiet, don't wanna wake him up yeah?"
"Yeah" (sons name) mumbled before sneaking the best a toddler could off to his room and leaving Eddie to look at his mate.
"Welcome home Eddie..." (Name) mumbled sleepily as Eddie set his bag near the couch"shit did we wake you?"
"No you're good..." (Name) made zero attempts to leave his mini nest so Eddie bent over to kiss him gently "how's the little one?" Eddie asked worried and (name) looked relaxed "they aren't making me want to vomit right now so great"
"You hungry?"
"A little..."
"I will make a light dinner baby"
"Love you"
"Love you too"

Isn't She Lovely
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Peter take your daughter on her first outing.
Warnings: babies, some language, minor sexual innuendos, tooth-rotting fluff brought to you by Dad!Peter Parker
"Are my two favorite girls ready?” You turned to see your husband Peter standing at the doorway of the nursery. He was holding up the backpack that you had designated as ‘Sophie’s bag’.
You turned back to look at your two month old daughter, who was currently lying in her crib, enthralled by the space themed mobile above her crib (“just because we’re having a girl doesn’t mean we can’t push science on her”, Peter explained at the time).
You picked her up, walking over so Peter could see her.
“We are ready! We woke up from our nap, we got some milk, we made a big mess on our clothes while burping, we got new clothes,” you gently rubbed your nose against hers, “and now we’re ready to go!”
“Are you all ready Sophie girl?” Peter bent his knees so he was at eye level with his daughter. Upon making eye contact with her father, Sophie cooed as she stuck a little arm out towards Peter.
“Are you telling me you want Daddy to hold you instead?” You asked, feigning shock.
“Yes, that is exactly what she wants,” Peter said as you handed him Sophie.
“You know Sophie, this is kinda offensive considering I was the one who brought you into this world,” you teased.
“Maybe she’s still upset that you evicted her from her first home.”
You were going to make a snappy remark, but stopped when you saw Peter kiss the top of Sophie’s head.
You always knew Peter was going to make a great dad. You had seen him interact with kids both as himself and as Spider-Man. On your first date, when asked where he wanted to see himself in several years, he said ‘as a father’ with no hesitation. There were two days he considered the best days of his life: the day he married you and the day Sophia Gwendolyn Parker arrived.
But seeing him interact with your daughter made your heart want to burst-in the best way possible. The love and devotion that filled his eyes whenever he saw her. The huge smile on his face whenever she interacted with him, whether it was just a simple coo or holding one of his large fingers. There was no one else you would have children with. Only Peter.
“You ready for your first big adventure love bug?” He cooed to Sophie, who was currently focused on trying to naw on Peter’s shirt.
The two of you finally felt comfortable enough to take Sophie out on errands. Previously, you would take turns or have May help out. You figured a trip to the grocery store would be a good starting point. You still packed a bag of diapers and waited until Sophie had napped and eaten just to make things easier on all parties.
“You want to carry our daughter for this?” You asked as you picked up the baby carrier.
“You want to give Mom a break?” He asked Sophie. Sophie continued to try to gnaw at Peter’s shirt. It was hard considering she had no teeth, but that didn’t stop her from trying.
“Really? You sure about that?” Peter asked, pretending she had given a verbal response. He looked up at you grinning, “she feels like clinging onto Dad for this one.”
“You can just say you want to hold her, you know.” You switched, handing him the baby carrier while you held Sophie, who was trying to hold her head up to look around. You kissed her soft brown hair while Peter put the baby carrier on himself. You helped him place Sophie into the carrier so that she was facing Peter.
“You ready?” You asked Peter. Deep down, you knew things would be fine. And yet, you were still scared shitless.
May said that feeling doesn’t go away, you just learn to deal with it.
“Yeah, I think I’m ready,” Peter said, never taking his eyes off his daughter. She was his whole world and he just wanted to protect her. Part of him wanted her to stay inside the townhouse, where he knew it was safe. But for as much bad as there was in the world, there was a lot of good that he didn’t want to deny her.
———
Luckily the three of you lived within a couple blocks of the grocery store. You figured walking would be better than the subway. Less overwhelming for an infant who may or may not have inherited Peter’s Spidey-sense (the jury was still out on that one).
Luckily for you and Peter, Sophie was enthralled by all the new sights and sounds.
“What do you think she’s thinking of right now?” Peter asked you. He had one hand on the back of the baby carrier and the other wrapped around your waist.
“Hmmm,” you tilted your head so your eyes would meet Sophia’s big brown eyes (curtesy of one Peter B. Parker), “wow, Mom and Dad kept all this shit from me?”
“Y/n, language!” Peter joked.
“I thought you said you wanted our daughter to have an expansive vocabulary,” you remarked.
“Yeah, but in a ‘her teachers refer to her as an old soul’ not ‘her teachers refer her to the principal’s office,” Peter remarked back.
“That’s the perfect time to explain to her how there are words you can use at home but not at school. An excellent lesson on how the use and purpose of language differs based on environment, group, and context.”
“You sound like you’re writing a paper, not teaching our daughter a life-lesson,” he remarked. Despite the nights of nearly no-sleep, the two of you never stopped your loving banter.
“I sound like someone who got their degree in that,” you corrected him. You were thankful you had been able to complete your master’s before Sophie was born. You knew Peter was willing to wait, but you also knew he wanted to start a family sooner rather than later. Luckily, Sophie came to be as a result of your celebration for finally getting your degree and graduating.
“I don’t think the principal will appreciate this lesson.”
“Peter, she can’t even hold her head up and you’re already thinking about school?” You teased. You reached out to gently pinch your daughter’s cheek.
He looked down at Sophie and ran a few fingers through the turfs of brown hair on her head (also curtesy of Peter), “I guess it’s a little too soon, huh?”
“Come on Dad, we have groceries we need to get,” you said wrapping your arm around his waist.
——
You were thankful you came with a list. Otherwise, there was no way you could remember what you needed. Not with Peter walking around the store and explaining everything to Sophie.
"That's cauliflower gnocchi. People keep thinking cauliflower can replace carbs. We don't believe that in this house," he explained to her. You had to stifle a laugh as you grabbed a frozen pizza.
"These are called samosas. Mommy craved these a lot when she was carrying you. She sent Daddy on a lot of midnight bodega trips." Peter's face broke into a huge grin when Sophie cooed at him. She hadn't figured out the laugh thing yet, but she was trying.
"You find that funny, huh? Daddy got to know the owners of that bodega really well. That's why we got a card and a case of frozen samosas when you were born."
"God that is so hot." You turned your attention to a woman who was standing next to you. But she wasn't talking to you. You saw her nudge the friend that was with her as she motioned her head to what she was referring to.
Your eyes followed and landed on your husband.
The stranger wasn't wrong. An unexpected perk of having a newborn was that Peter wasn't shaving as frequently or cutting his hair. As a result, you got a scruffy version of Peter that you never complained about. So it wasn't a surprise that others found it attractive too.
"If my future husband doesn't look at kids that way, please hit me," the stranger's friend said.
Oh.
So it wasn't the scruff they found hot. Or maybe they did. But it wasn't the whole reason.
You couldn't help but chuckle as you walked over to Peter and Sophie.
"What's so funny?" Peter asked.
You jerked your head to the two women who were now walking away, "Those women think you're a DILF."
Peter's expression changed into a confused one, "They think I'm a what?"
"A DILF Peter," your voice dropped to a whisper, "A dad they'd like to fuck."
"Y/N, I-I know what it means," he ran a hand through his hair, a habit he did when flustered.
"Do you find that weird?" You asked.
"That people want to fuck me just because I'm a Dad now? A little yeah."
"You're not just any Dad, Peter. You're an amazing Dad," you paused, "who also happens to be very hot."
"Okay, but....I-I only want y-you to fuck me," He stumbled through his words, as if the two of you haven't been together for five plus years.
"I'd hope so Parker! I'm the reason you're a DILF now," you teased.
"yeah you are," he grinned as he bent his knees so he was at eye level with you. He leaned over to place a kiss on your lips.
"Come on Dad, we still have a ton of groceries to get and this one," you pointed to your daughter, "is due for a nap in the next hour."
You felt Peter's large hand grab yours. You leaned your head against his shoulder, looking at Sophie. For a moment, it was just you and Peter, admiring the bundle of joy that had entered your world.

Temptation
-Wednesday-
I love him so much. God I love him. And he’ll never know. Maybe it was a curse from a past life or something. To live like this, tantalizingly close to him but unable to act. I knew he didn’t see me that way, but that didn’t help any in my situation.
Take today for instance, he just came back from the gym today soaked in the lingering smell of sweat. It was probably residual perspiration on the clothes he was carrying back or some other thing in his bag. Still. The smell. Goddamn. I could have died and gone to heaven on the spot. I tried to sneak a whiff of Connor, but all I could pick up was whatever soap and cologne he used. It was earthy, woodsy. Like cut cedar and fresh rain. It’s the Connor I always smelled, since he did always keep himself quite clean, and it’s a wonderful scent in its own right, forming the basis of my idea of Connor and the scent I associated with him. But damn. This paled in comparison to the hints of musk and workout sweat I could glean from his clothing. He reeked of pure man and it’s such a shame he covered that up. God I hope he doesn’t do laundry anytime soon.
He must have picked up on something, cause not a moment later I got a “Oh dude! I’m so sorry, this stuff probably reeks haha. I’ll get it washed up so it doesn’t stink up the place” he laughed politely. Fuck.
“Sure, you do you” I stated back, mentally cursing at his propensity for cleanliness.
You’d think the ROTC guys wouldn’t give two fucks about their smell but I guess Connor was an exception. Then again I don’t really know what they did, so maybe it was normal for them. In any case, he definitely did laundry tonight, and I definitely lost out on a good jack off.
Tumblr media
-Friday-
So, weird thing happened last night. Connor looked tired as fuck, but he went out. The man must have been running on sheer willpower alone cause he had some kind of training day earlier today too. He collapsed in his room at like 8. Yet there he was an hour later- eyes bloodshot, hair tousled. Maybe he wanted to let loose or something? Still pretty weird. I mean, the guy was practically a saint. It’s odd enough that he went out for drinks, but even odder that he went out dressed like he did. Still I could definitely get used to a more experimental Connor.
He was also a little looser when he came back. Gave me a pat on the shoulder and a wink. Something about “keeping the room safe” or something. I couldn’t concentrate enough to tell what he was actually rambling about. His breath was drenched in alcohol. I feel like I almost got drunk off the fumes alone when he spoke. No surprise when he had no recollection of any of it after he woke up from his nap.
Total guilty pleasure, but the messy look was kind of hot on him. Never seen my friend so disheveled like this, he was always so prim and proper. It’s kind of nice to see him knocked down a few pegs.
-Tuesday-
Connor let out a cute yawn before scratching his pits. He gave his scratching hand a quick sniff before settling into a satisfied smile. My dick jumped a little. I feigned ignorance when he regarded me, asking me if I saw that. “I
 uh
no. Definitely not.”
“Sure dude.” Now fully aware of my stare, Connor continued scratching at himself. “You’re seeing this now though, right?” He ran a hand over his stomach, gently feeling through his defined abs. I kept replaying the event in my head, drooling the delight I just witnessed and at a little daydream of me coming up to to feel this new side of Connor with him. In my daze, I barely noticed my roommate inching closer.

Plus, did he seem
bigger? Though I can’t say I’ve ever seen the guy without a shirt on so I guess I just never noticed. Regardless, this version of Connor was fucking hot. Looks like he’s got a tat too. Hot.
“Baby if you’re gonna keep looking, you might as well have a taste.” He laughed warmly. I couldn’t believe what I just heard. In my stunned state, I couldn’t do anything beyond stare at him in disbelief as a vascular hand that seemed larger than it should be guided mine around his perky ass. God what a nice ass. I still recoiled out of the sheer absurdity in the situation. Try as I might, I couldn’t wrap my brain around the idea of this Connor. It’s like he was two different people. Well, I definitely liked this version of my friend more. I’m still drooling over what just happened.
“Another time, then,” he chuckled before walking to his room.
Weird. Connor never really shut his door other than to sleep. Guess he was tired or something.
-Thursday-
Well shit, I totally misread all of that. Today, I thought I saw that same glint of intrigue in his eyes and decided to risk it. Conner was just sitting in his boxers eating cereal and I was just standing there, a few feet behind. I couldn’t help it. My hand instinctively reached out and the cupped the outline of his ass. Perky. It was cute and compact and plump but definitely had a bit of muscle behind it. I regretted the action immediately.
“
The fuck dude?” He gently whispered. It was more bewilderment than anything. Fuck. He was incredulous and I couldn’t blame him. Anger raged inside him, I could tell. But neither of us knew what to do in the situation. We stood there, staring at each other for what felt like hours before I relented.
In shame I could barely stammer out a shameful “s-sorry” before I slunk back to my room, bright red.
I fucked up.
-Monday-
Okay. Scratch everything I just said. Connor is fucking with me. He’s got to be. He strode around the apartment half naked, humming a quiet tune to himself. Sure. Fine, I guess. Whatever. But as soon as he noticed me on the couch working on an essay, he walked over and gave me a hug from behind. Oh my god that hug. Connor was a lean dude, but I swear his muscles were fucking bulging, like they were barely contained in his skin. He wrapped those thick pythons over my shoulders and chest and I just about melted on the spot. I’m pretty sure I moaned a little too. Who wouldn’t? Wrapped in his warm embrace, surrounded by this man- I was his for that moment. I tensed up on the spot. I knew he didn’t swing that way, so I don’t know what he was trying but there was no way I would fall for what I could only assume was some kind of trap.
He spoke in a tone laced in sex. It set me off in a way I didn’t expect. This was a side of Connor I’ve never seen, a tone of Connor I’ve never heard- an experience of Connor I’ve never had. It was a Connor I never knew I needed.
“I’ve seen the way you look at this body. You’re not very subtle.” In the faintest of whispers, he leaned in until his lips were barely touching my ear. My dick was already rock hard in anticipation- I was practically bursting at the seams and I’m sure he had a great view of it. “Just say the word and ‘Connor’ is yours”.
Tumblr media
With a control and a willpower I never had before, I refrained from kissing this boy- from putting myself all over him on the spot. I mentally cursed at my friend. ‘What the fuck are you playing at Connor?’
His hot, damp breath caressed my ear in its own embrace as I stood my ground, unmoving like stone. “Got to hand it to you, bro, you put up a really good fight. It’s okay. I love a good fight. Makes victory taste all the more sweeter.” The feel of Connor’s thick, defined fingers running through my hair and wet, slimy tongue across my cheek. He rolled his body forward, so the pulse through his abs would be felt across the back of my neck. From this spot, he was downright imposing. His guns went in for another caress- this time wrapping across my cheeks and around my chin.
“You know I love you bro
This body’s straight as an arrow. But it’s my body- I’ll go gay for you if you want”. What the fuck. Oh god I got a bit of his sweat on my cheek too. My eyes fluttered, body entrapped in a spell of my own hormones reacting to my friend’s advances.
Connor broke me. I shivered on the spot, leaned up to the man, moaned an “Oh fuck
Connor I-I need you. I-” before he cut me off. “Well bro, kind of looks like you still got some work today- you have fun with that.” He laughed coldly. He was fucking with me.
That whole exchange was really fucking weird, cause just a few hours later, it was back to pure awkward silence between us. Like a flip of a switch, the every energy he exuded around me could only be described as “uncomfortable”. I wanted to talk to him, to speak with him about earlier, to tell him I wanted him the same way. Something about those eyes read differently though. They read the same Connor I had been used to until recently. I decided to hold my tongue. Something about this situation wasn’t adding up.
Also I’m pretty sure this kid needs to see a doctor or something. I swear the guy doesn’t sleep- he’s out every night and then I see his tired ass drag himself to class every morning. Rushing a frat? Weird drugs? Could have been a host of things.
-Tuesday-
Now 4 days since the incident last week. Thankfully he hasn’t brought it up- nor has he brought up whatever the fuck yesterday was. If it was even real. I sweat and stumble over my sentences in every conversation I make with him. I flash back to what he said to me. God, this was all too much. Every time I try to focus myself, focus on whatever he was talking to me about, I couldn’t help but think of the Connor that visited me yesterday night.
Maybe, maybe it was just a hallucination. Maybe I dreamed it all up. I was working on an essay for hours. The whole encounter could have easily been a dream. He’s been going out every night too, so it’s not like he could have been speaking to me that coherently. Still. That didn’t make it any better. Whether or not he knew it, Connor was a demon in my life.
I shamefully admit I totally jacked off to that little exchange from yesterday after he left. Grabbed some used Connor-scented garments off his hamper and exploded all over myself in a Connor-themed session. Nothing like the exquisite gym-soaked clothes from a week ago, but it was enough. It was still Connor. My eyes rolled up to the back of my head in pleasure as I took a breath, basking in the afterglow and the scent of forest and earth and faintest lingering musk of Connor in my nose. Connor was everything to me and, hallucination or not, I committed yesterday’s events to memory.
-Still Tuesday-
Shitshitshit. Definitely not a dream. I caught the son of a bitch. In the dead of night, I caught him sneaking in from a dark corner of the room. Like a figure manifest from the shadows itself. He was holding some silver figurine in his hand, reciting some odd words, before he lunged at the sleeping Connor. He gave my roommate a quick sniff before scoffing. “Bro you have to stop cleaning all your nice smells away
With that the stranger pulled at the corners of Connor’s mouth. I watched as my roommate’s skin was forced to accommodate the man’s muscular calves.
Tumblr media
I watched as the stranger pulled Connor every further up himself. Damn, even in the dark I could tell the man was ripped. When his head finally slotted into where Connor’s skull would be, and Connor’s face was stretched being pulled, I saw the immediate change in my friend’s demeanor. This was the guy who’s been fucking with me recently. This was why Connor looked so buff lately. I couldn’t see the man who jumped inside my best friend, but I could never wipe that smug smile he wore through Connor’s face.
The smell that originated from inside Connor, the same smell I experienced a week ago. God I loved that scent. It permeated throughout the room. Best friend concentrate. Like a humid, musky, grime that clung to the very air and decorated my nostrils. I never wanted his scent out of me again. I felt like I was inhaling Connor himself, regarding a newly discovered private part of my friend.
My stomach churned in a mix of anticipation and horror. Sweat beaded at my temples. Gotta admit, this was kind of hot. I had to figure out what I was gonna do about this. Self-preservation kicked in and I fled to my room, taking special attention to ensure I did not alert the man inside Connor. Not like he’d notice anyways- dude was feeling himself up almost immediately after he slipped inside.
Tumblr media
-Wednesday-
It’s like clockwork at this point. The “other” Connor came back early in the morning from a wild night out, before passing out on our couch as I was finally able to speak with my friend. Impossibly tired eyes looked back at me. He gave a weak grimace. “Must have passed out again
.Uh.. can I help you man?” My heart sank. Could I really tell him this? My poor roommate. “No, uh.. do you want any breakfast?”.
I could tell he had meant to say yes. He motioned as much, before staring at my face and turning away. Fuck. He was definitely still put off by last week’s advance. I honestly don’t blame him. “N-no. I got it. Thanks.”
I grimaced awkwardly before shrugging and walking to fix myself some breakfast. This would complicate things. And I couldn’t do that to Connor. I needed to find a way to fix this without him knowing. Evidently, his body being used and worn out like an evening jacket was taking its toll on him. Despite whatever we were going through, he was still my friend. And I couldn’t in good faith add more to that burden.
“Hey, one of the guys from the gym’s coming over for dinner, that cool?”
“Yeah man, I’ll just order some extra pizza,” I said back, sighing internally in relief at some semblance of normalcy.
-Still Wednesday -
I met Connor’s gym friend. To be honest, already forgot his name. He gave me a wink when he shook my hand and I couldn’t stop staring all dinner. I think even Connor picked up on it. He looked almost jealous with all the attention I usually gave him being directed at the stranger. The stranger asked to use the bathroom, and I wanted to let him know how to get to it, but he seemed to already know the path.
“Hey bro, is it cool if I stay the night?“ I nodded automatically, lost in deep thought.
There’s something peculiar about the Connor’s gym friend. And I didn’t notice it until I was already in bed. Then hit me like a brick.
That fucking smirk.

-End-
If anyone knows who this guy is, please let me know
 for.. uh.. research purposes.

“Where have the two of you been?” Lily asked, coming down the stairs as Sy and her grandfather came out of his study.
“Just having a chat.” Sy smiled up at her.
“Lily, I have something I need to say to you.” Davis said, looking up at his granddaughter.
“Yeah, you know what, I have something I need to say to you too.” Lily replied, planting her hands on her hips.
“Oh, lord.” Sy mumbled under his breath, knowing the look of this stance, and cleared his throat.
“All right.” Davis nodded, biting his lip. “You can go first, then.” He told her, motioning with his hand.
“Good.” Lily nodded back. “I don't appreciate the way you've been treating me since we arrived this morning. I understand that I hurt you by running off like I did, but Sy is right. I didn't have to tell you I was going or why I was going.” She told him, firmly. “I know that you were hurt and worried about me, because of the past trauma of what happened with my parents and my birth, but this and we-” She motioned between herself and Sy.
“Are not my parents and that situation, and you need not to treat it like it is.”
Davis bit his lip and looked at the dark and scuffed wood of the hallway floor, trying to hold back the smile that wanted to pull across his lips. Lily's fire reminded him so much of himself, and in a way, of his Daisy.
“You're right, Lily.” He finally spoke, looking up at her, taking a deep breath.
“I have been a down right jerk to you and Austin, and I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me for it. I love you so very much, Lily. You are my granddaughter. You are the only thing of my precious daughter I have left and I don't want to lose that, or you. Let alone the beautiful great-grandbaby you have growing inside of you.”
Lily pressed her lips together, her bottom one quivering as her eyes shined with building tears. “I do forgive you.” She blubbered, sniffling at him.
Davis opened his arms to her and Lily rushed into them, colliding with his chest. He smiled and squeezed his arms around her, burying his face in her hair, trying to hold back his own tears. Sy stood beside them, grinning that the two of them had reconciled their differences and became close again, truly hoping that it remained that way.
“Dave?”
Letting out a disappointed huff, he let Lily go and turned towards the sound of his name, finding one of his work hands standing in the open doorway. “What is it?” He asked, lifting a brow at him.
“Mac thinks he found a way to save the York tree.” The hand replied, sheepish eyes darting between the three of them.
Davis looked down at Lily, a tinge of sadness in his eyes.
“I'll see you at dinner.” Lily told him, giving his hand a squeeze and gave him a reassuring look.
He smiled at her, kissing her temple, then followed his worker out the door. Lily turned to Sy and wrapped her arms around his waist, sighed into his chest, a mile-wide smile on her face as she thought about the good vibe she had after what had just transpired with her grandfather. Sy smiled and hugged her back, rubbing his palms up and down her back and resting his chin on top of her head, content and happy.
“Thank you.” She said as they entered her bedroom.
“For what?” He frowned, sitting down on her bed.
“All of this probably wouldn't have happened, if it wasn't for you.” She told him, motioning around her room. “I still would have been cowering at the house in Celina. Too afraid of my own shadow, let alone the outside world. You've given me strength and hope again.” She stood in front of him and cupped his face in her hands, tilting his head back to look up at her.
“Thank you, Austin Syverson.” She whispered, kissing him, softly.
Sy wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his lap, nuzzling his face into her neck. “It was all you, Angel.” He cooed, his breath warm against her skin. “I just drove you here.” He told her, rubbing his nose against the spot just below her ear.
Lily narrowed her eyes. “You and my grandfather talked about me, didn't you?” She asked, connecting the dots.
“Whatever gave you that idea, sweet lips?” He asked, grinning into her jaw.
“The two of you holed up in his office for forty-five minutes.”
“Oh now, darling.” Sy chuckled, pressing his lips to her jawbone. “My dearest, sweetest, love.”
“Wyatt.”
“Listen to that tone.” Sy exclaimed, rocking back and looking at her. “That's the tone. You sound like such a mama already.” He grinned at her, licking his lips.
“It's so hot.”
“You're turned on by that?”
“Watching your tummy steadily round out with my babe inside of you; knowing my seed filled you like a water balloon.” His smirk turned into something far more sultry as he stared her clothed belly, like he was entranced by a snake charmer. “Thinking about having kids with you, about our kids and you being pregnant with them, is just so fucking sexy and alluring to me.”
“Lord, oh lordy.” Lily chuckled, shaking her head at him.
“I've always wanted a lot of kids.” He blurted out, semi-coming out of his trance. “I know what it's like to be an only child, and it sucks.”
“I know what it feels like too.” Lily agreed, biting her lip. “But, I never thought about having kids. I never thought I'd have kids.”
Sy frowned at her. “Why?”
“Jak doesn't like kids.” She mumbled, glancing down at her lap.
“Ah.” He nodded, understanding. “I love kids.” He smiled at her, softly.
“How many do you want?” Lily asked, tilting her head at him.
“Let's see how many the good Lord gives us.” He replied, gently kissing the corner of her mouth. “There's no rush.” He whispered, resting his chin on her shoulder and closed his eyes, enjoying a quiet moment with her, before they were called down to a dinner of Lily's favorite honey-lemon glazed salmon and asparagus.

“They're sleeping in the same room?” Davis asked, watching Lily and Sy go into her room, after they all said good night to each other.
“Davis, they already have a little one on the way. What are they going to do, make a second one on top of it?” Violet chuckled, shaking her head at her husband, then rolled into their master bedroom.

Sy stepped out onto the front pouch with a cup of coffee in hand, a grin instantly touching his face as he saw Lily on the lawn with Aika. She was wearing a knee length, cotton sundress with a floral design that accentuated her baby bump, the skirt billowing around her thighs in the warm morning breeze, ruffling her shoulder length hair and carrying her laughter back to him on the porch as her and the German Shepard played around on the lush green grass together. He cradled his cup in both hands and leaned on the porch railing to continue watching.
“You watch her, like you're watching through the gates of heaven.” Violet's voice said behind him.
“That's because I am.” Sy replied, not moving or looking away from Lily. “She's my slice of heaven on earth.” He said, eyes brightening as Lily turned and noticed him, smiling at him, and smiled back at her.
“Penny for your thoughts, Bear?” Lily asked, coming up to the porch with Aika.
“A penny is too poor for the thoughts I'm having, Angel.” He replied, grinning at her and pushing off the porch railing.
“I'm going to take my nap.” She said, standing beside him an intense exhaustion washing over her.
“All right.” Sy nodded, brushing the back of his knuckles across her cheek, before leaning in to gently kiss her. “I'll come lay with you.” He whispered, following her inside and upstairs to her room, setting his coffee cup on the table in her room, toed out of his boots and crawled into bed with her; Aika jumping onto the foot of the bed with them.
“Hm, Austin.” Lily whimpered, wiggling, as his hand found its way to her breast and cupped it in his palm, gently squeezing it.
“Does it hurt?” He asked, picking up his head to look down at her, concerned.
“No.” She sighed back, brow ceased. “But, you've been awfully attached to them lately.”
“They're bigger.” He grinned, laying his head back down.
“I'm pregnant with your kid.” She retorted with a snort. “They're prepping to start lactating, so I can start breastfeeding that caveman sized appetite they're going to no doubt have.”
“Both of us.”
“Uh-oh no!” Lily hooted, shaking her head and rolling over onto her back to look at his face. “You are not!”
“Why not?” Sy grinned at her, devilishly licking his lips. “Milk's good for you. Especially breast milk.”
Lily slapped both of her palms to her face, grinning and blushing wildly. “You are so weird.” She giggled, shyly.
“Am I weird, or are you just a sweet sheltered, little, home-schooled girl?” Sy teased back, pressing his hand to her thigh.
Lily looked at him, eyes holding a message that told him she wasn't as amused by his statement as she was, causing Sy to freeze his hand from it's adventure up inside her skirt.
“I'm sorry, babe.” He whispered, biting his lip. “That was too far and not what I meant.” He sighed, kissing her cheek. “I'll let you sleep.” He said, wrapping her up in his arms, feeling like a complete idiot.
But, once Lily was asleep he got up, tiptoeing around the room, before stepping out.
“Is everything all right, Austin?” Violet asked, as she encountered him in the hallway, pulling on his jacket and holding his truck keys.
“Yeah, I just need to go into town.” He replied, giving her a smile and headed out to the truck.
Driving into town, Sy found their store and ran inside, finding everything inside that he had come for, hoping that when Lily woke up from her nap that it would help cheer her up and show her that he was sorry for making such a narrow-minded and dumb-ass comment about how she was raised. He was driving back to the Warren's, when he was stopped at a red light and something caught the attention of his peripheral vision. He stared at it so long, he missed the light changing and the cars behind him started honking and screaming out their windows at him.
“Fuck.” He snapped, stepping on the gas and spinning the steering wheel sharply into a U-Turn, an illegal one at that, but Sy didn't care, as he pulled into the parking lot of the store that had absorbed his attention.
Tumblr media
“Sy?” Lily whimpered, sitting up in bed, after not feeling the warmth of his body behind her, and got out of bed in search of him. “Austin.” She called, peeking into the bathroom, but found nothing, before she went downstairs.
“Oh, miss. I was told to give this to you, when you woke up.” the servant said, handing her a note.
“Thanks, Mina.” She replied, taking the note and unfolding it, recognizing Sy's handwriting.
Lily, meet me under your favorite apple tree. - Sy.
“How does he know my favorite apple tree?” Lily frowned at the note, shaking her head, but tucked the note away and went outside.
Lily went out into the northwest orchard of the farm, to where her favorite apple tree was deep in the center of that grove of trees. She remembered going out there often as a girl, especially on cool summer nights, to read by the glow of fireflies or the moon, or if neither of them were out, she would sneak an old oil lamp out of the work barn and take it out to the tree, and read by.
She wondered what Sy wanted with it.
When she was a few yards away from the tree, she noticed a difference amongst the fallen apples and leaves that blanketed the ground, there were oddly shaped, cherry-red leaves. She stopped and examined them, when she realized they weren't leaves at all. They were rose petals. Leading up to her apple tree, that she continued to approach, finding Sy standing beneath it.
“What is this, Austin?” She asked, shaking her head, and motioning to the blue gingham picnic blanket he had laid under the apple tree; the gold plaque staked among its roots told the reader it was a Rall's Genet apple tree, the first planted on the Warren farm, in 1785, by Ambrose Cecil Warren.
“I was an ass.” Sy replied, taking a deep breath and biting his lip. “When you were falling asleep for your nap, and it wasn't right of me, or nice of me, to say what I said to you. I'm so sorry I said it.”
“So, this is my peace offering.” He told her, motioning to the items on the blanket.
Lily chuckled, stepping closer, and seeing her favorite Ben and Jerry's, Brownie Batter Core ice cream, a bag of pretzels, Cherry Punch, Sweet Tart ropes and two bottles of Voss water. “You really didn't have too.” She said, looking up at him, touched at his attempt anyway.
“You know that?”
“Be it as it may, I still want to make it up to you.” He replied, taking her hand and helped her sit down on the blanket, then joined her. “The ice cream might be a little melted. But, I know how much you love it that way.” He chuckled, pulling off the lid to the pint sized container.
“You know me so well.” Lily giggled, taking the white plastic spoon and the pint of ice cream from him. “So, how did you find out this was my tree?” She asked, spooning a mouthful of ice cream into her mouth.
“I remember you telling me about a specific tree on the property.” Sy replied, picking up a bag of shelled, sunflower seeds that he loved to snack on. “I also asked your grandmother.” He grinned, slyly.
“Smooth, Syverson. Smooth.” She chuckled, shaking her head at him.
It was serene and lazy as they sat on the blanket, enjoying their treats.
But, Lily put the lid back on her half-eaten ice cream and turned, laying back to put her head in Sy's lap, closing her eyes to the sound of the breeze rustling through the grass and tree branches over their heads, the chirp of grasshoppers and crickets, the birds singing and twittering, as they nested or flew and their wings fluttered through the warm and humid air. She sighed and smiled softly, her hand resting on her belly. Sy looked down at her and smiled too, ghosting his fingers through her bangs and against her forehead, he loved the soft and peaceful expression on her face and how relaxed her body was, obviously enjoying the tranquility around them, as was he.
He tipped his head back, seeing the little Blue Jay sitting on the branch above them, singing its little heart out and smiled at it, then glanced back down at Lily, his smile growing a little brighter. Lily stirred, not realizing she had dozed off a little bit, until she had felt Sy touch the hand she had on her belly, but he just smiled at her, a strange sparkle in his blue eyes.
“I love you, Lily.” He whispered to her, stroking the top of her hand. “I've loved you for such a very long time.” He told her, biting the corner of his lip “My sweet Angel.”
He grinned, brushing his finger down the bridge of her nose and over her lips, tracing her brows and gently touching her cheek. “There's no one in the world I want to be with. No one I want to bear and battle the world with, other than you, Lily Ana.” He told her, stroking her hair, the tip of his finger following the shell of her ear.
“You've become the purest love of my life and my Battle Buddy.” He told her and curved his hand around hers, lifting it from her belly and to her face.
Lily's face grew slack, her mouth dropping open and her eyes wide as he showed her what was on her hand, what he had put on her finger. “Sy!” She snapped, sitting up. “Wyatt.” She gulped and licked her lips, shocked, and looked at him.
“Austin.” She whimpered, her voice cracking as she stared at the ring on her finger.
“Will you marry me, Lily Ana?” Sy asked her properly, fidgeting nervously, scared out of his wits that Lily would turn him down, and her no would be worse than a gunshot wound to the heart.
It had been an utter impulse that he had been sucked into the sight of that jewelry store on the way back after going to the store, for the ice cream and candy.
At first, he had only meant to look at the engagement rings, but as soon as he saw the one he had just slipped onto her finger, it was like someone had stepped into Sy's body, pointing it out to the jeweler and pulling out his bank card to pay for it; watching him put it in the black velvet box and hold it out to him was surreal. It felt heavy in his pocket as he walked back out to the truck, but not heavy with the regret that he had fallen into the impulse to buy the ring, but heavy with hope that he would find the courage to present it to Lily and she would say yes, heavy with worry that Lily would reject his proposal.
“Yes!” Lily answered a split second later.
“Really!” He snapped back, shocked, but completely delighted.
“Yes, Austin.” She laughed at him. “Yes, yes, yes! I will marry you, you silly Bear!”
“Oh, thank fuck.” Sy let out in a huff, catching her up in his arms. “I am so glad you said yes. I was afraid you would say no.” He said against her cheek.
Lily smiled into his neck. “I would never.” She chuckled, hugging her arms around him. “Not in a million years.” She whispered, kissing his cheek.
“I know it's not much.” He said, touching the round, one-fourth carat diamond setting with his thumb.
“It doesn't have to be, Sy.” She told him, shaking her head. “You are enough.”
Sy smiled at her, cupping the back of her head and pulled her into a deep and tender kiss. Lily melted into him, slowly shifting into his lap and gripping his shoulders, rubbing down on him. Sy smirked into their kiss, wrapping an arm around her waist and pressed them flush together.
“Lily.” He panted against her lips, his eyes dark and teasing.
“I need you so bad now.” She giggled, blushing and shy.
Sy's laugh rang out in the air, grinning. “Let's go back then.”
“I am not having sex in the same house my grandparents are in.” Lily protested, squeezing her knees to the outside of his hips. “That is a big double O negative, Captain Syverson.”
“Is there somewhere else we could go?”
“There's two places, the work barn and the garage, and both are busy this time of day.” She replied, pressing her lips to his throat, impatient and horny; a side effects of her pregnancy.
“All right then.” Sy chuckled.
He lifted her dress just enough to obstruct his access, then pulled open his belt and the button of his jeans, pushing down his zipper and lifted his hips enough to wiggle his jeans and boxers down his thighs to free his hardening cock.
“Your panties.” He huffed, annoyed that the thin material was in their way. “No!” He growled, as she started to push herself up onto her feet to slip her underwear off.
“We can't have sex with them on.” Lily groaned back, impatiently.
“We're not.” He scoffed, fingers curling around the band of her panties and with a loud rip, tore them off of her. “Problem solved, Princess.” He grinned at her, his face dark with desire.
Lily smirked back at him, rubbing against him and spreading her slick juices all over his manhood, making Sy's eyes roll in the back of his head, hands gripping her hips through the fabric of her sundress. Lily reached underneath the skirt of her dress and wrapped her fingers around the hot skin of his hard member, feeling the throb of the thick vein beneath it pulse against her fingers as she stroked him, thin beads of pre-cum coating his shaft and her fingers, making her grasp him firmer.
“Oh, Angel.” Sy panted, licking his lips and resting his head back against the rough bark of the ancient apple tree.
“Not bad for a girl that was sheltered and home-schooled, huh?” She huffed at him, swiping her thumb over the purplish tip of his head and brought it up to her mouth and licked off his juices.
Sy grinned at her though half lidded eyes. “Not at all, Angel. Not at all.” He cooed, then hissed when she wrapped her hand around him again and squeezed, rubbing his weeping tip against her dripping pussy.
“You're teasing me, Lily.”
“Am I?” She purred back, her voice deep and sultry, grinning at him.
“Is this you getting even with me?”
“It's possible.” Lily chuckled, just slipping his tip into her core for a moment, before pulling it out again.
“Oh, Lily Ana.” Sy laughed, his voice a little hoarse, sweat breaking out on his forehead. “You little minx.”
Lily laughed at him. “Coming from the man that would fuck me in any position and place he would, and probably thought he could, in.” She retorted, lifting a brow at him, finally letting his cock enter the canal of her core, sitting in his bare lap.
“All better, Bear?” She cooed at him, pressing her hands to his chest and leaned into him, kissing him.
“I feel like I've corrupted you.” He chuckled against her mouth, rubbing his palms up and down her back, letting her set whatever pace she wanted.
“It's possible.” She replied and gently rolled her hips, taking a deep breath and let it out in a soft moan.
Lily pressed her sweaty forehead against Sy's, wanting to be closer to him, needing to breathe the same air as him, one of her hands slipping behind his head, fingers carding through the short, damp curls at the nape of his neck. Sy held her eyes and bent his knees up a little bit, giving her a little bit of support and shifting his cock inside of her, making her grunt out a delicious moan.
“You always sound so sweet with my cock inside of you.” Sy cooed at her, brushing her wind swept hair out of her face and behind her ears. “My delicious little flower.”
Lily chuckled at him, smirking. “You're a sap.” She huffed, tightening her walls around him, causing him to growl deep in his throat. “You do feel so fucking good though, Bear.” She sighed, licking her lips and bouncing in his lap a little bit faster, while still keeping herself tight around him.
“Lily, I'm gonna come.” Sy grunted, gasping and panting.
He felt the tell-tale tingle in his sack and the pit of his stomach, the way his cock swelled and throbbed against her already taut walls, the wet sounds from their coupling adding to the music of crickets, grasshoppers and birds in the hum of hot and humid air blanketing them, sweat pouring off of them, making almost every inch of their clothing stick and cling to their drenched skin, soaking the fabric. Sy grabbed Lily's hips and thrust up into her, burying himself as deeply as either of their body's would allow him to, his body stiffening as he pumped ribbon after ribbon of hot come into her, the muscles of his stomach spasming with each load.
“Ah, Austin.” Lily cried out, slipping a hand underneath her dress to rub at her clit, giving herself that last bit of stimulation to come, squeezing down on Sy's cock even harder, making him grunt and growl, the muscles in his neck tensing and his face twisting as she milked even more out of him.
“Fuck!” He barked out, breathing between clenched teeth. “Lily!”
Recovering enough, Lily collapsed on top of Sy's chest, listening to his heart thunder in her ear and the soft wheeze to his breathing as it slowly calmed down. Sy sluggishly wrapped his heavy arms around her, turning his red and sweaty face into her damp hair, while Lily watched the diamond on the engagement ring sparkled in the sun, a soft and content smile on her face. So many things were happening that she had given up on; seeing her grandparents again, finding a good and reliable guy, getting married and starting a family. It might all be a bit out of sync, but Lily didn't care, it was still happening and it was happening with Sy.
“Lily?” Sy frowned, alarmed by the painful sounding whimper she suddenly let out and felt her stomach tighten. “What is it?” He asked, sitting up with her.
Lily didn't reply for a moment, instead she reached out and gently cupped his face in her hand, while taking a few deep breaths until the discomfort in her stomach passed. “It's fine, Bear.” She told him, stretching her back. “Just Braxton Hicks. It's perfectly normal at this point.” She sighed.
“Especially after sex.” She assured him, caressing his face with her thumb.
“You're sure?”
“I am.” She nodded, smiling at him. “It's if they last more than two minutes, that we need to worry. But, it was barely thirty seconds.”
Sy nodded at her, but he was only slightly pacified. “I should get you back inside. It's boiling out here.” He said, getting up and pulled her up onto her feet, Sy corrected his jeans, before collecting their picnic stuff, jamming her torn panties into his front pocket and headed back into the house with her.
“Where have the two of you been?” Davis asked as Lily and Sy entered the house.
“We had a little picnic in the orchard.” Lily smiled up at Sy. “Mr. Romantic that Sy is.” She teased him.
“Is that what I think is it?” Violet asked, rolling into the hallway.
Lily froze for a moment, feeling the slickness of her and Sy's love making slowly creeping down the inside of her thigh and felt her heart start to pound, fearing it had become noticeable to her grandmother. But relaxed, when Violet lifted a frail and bony finger, pointing at the ring on her hand instead.
“Uh..” Lily and Sy instantly blushed, grinning like a pair of caught teenagers. “Yeah, it is.”
“You proposed.” Violet grinned at Sy, elated.
“I did.” He smiled, wrapping an arm around Lily's waist, feeling gratified. “It seemed right.” He said, looking into Lily's eyes, softly.
“So, when are you officially tying the knot?” Violet asked, looking between them.
“I don't know.” Lily replied, her eyes still on Sy. “We haven't discussed that yet.”
“We'll get around to talking about it.” Sy nodding back at her. “But, I think, I'm game for a nap right now.”
“Oh, that does sound really good, now that you mention it.” Lily nodded, tired from the heat and their sex. “We should be up in time for dinner.” She said, smiling at her grandparents, then went upstairs with Sy.
“How about a cool shower first?” Sy suggested after they got back upstairs to their room, seeing Lily was still a little sweaty and red. “Wash this sweaty grim off of us and cool off before we nap.”
Lily felt her drying skin and the stickiness between her legs from their combined release. “I think that's a good idea.” She agreed, then followed him into the bathroom.
Sy pulled down the zipper in the back of her dress, then got undressed himself, turning on the shower and making sure it was cool, but not cold, before letting Lily step in first and following in behind her, watching the water wash over her for a few moment. He picked up the bottle of body wash from the shower basket, the scent of white peaches and cream filling the small space as he opened the bottle, moaning softly at the scent he'd become familiar with on her skin of late.
Lily chuckled. “Do I need to change body washes, when we get home, Bear?” She asked, as he started washing the sweaty grim off of her.
“Definitely.” He chuckled, letting her rinse off, then quickly washed himself, not above smelling like peaches too. “Do you have a preference?” Sy asked, after they had settled into bed for their nap.
“Preference for what?” Lily replied, returning to the surface of being awake.
“For what gender you want the baby to be?”
“No.” She shook her head. “But, I do want to continue one thing, if it's a girl.”
“All right.” He nodded. “What is it?”
“The name.” Lily told him. “My great-grandmother's name was Jasmine, my grandmother is Violet, and my mother's name was Daisy..”
“And yours is Lily.” Sy smiled against her shoulder. “All flower themed.”
“Mmhm.” She nodded, starting to tip back off to sleep. “If we have a girl, I want to give her a flower themed name, to continue the tradition.”
“I'm more than all right with that.” He told her, sweet on the idea. “If we have more kids and they're all girls, we'll have a whole flower garden running around the house.” He teased, lightheartedly.
Lily chuckled and snuggled back against him. “The house will smell wonderful.” She teased back, her voice just a faint murmur, before she finally dropped off.

“Is it really time for you to go?” Violet asked, clutching Lily's hands.
“Sadly, it is.” Lily nodded, gulping down a fresh wave of tears.
Lily and Sy had stayed with her grandparents for nearly a week, which wasn't enough for the three of them to catch up and patch five years of absence, but they all knew it was time. The couple had a life back in Celina, that's where they had started to plant their roots and where they wanted to raise their now expanding family.
“You promise to come back and visit?”
“Nothing can ever prevent that from happening again, Mee-Maw. You have my word.” Lily assured her, squatting down in front of her wheelchair.
“I want to meet my great-grandbaby.”
“That, for sure, is going to happen.” Lily chuckled, a couple of tears escaping. “I wouldn't let you miss that opportunity for anything in the world.” She sniffled, starting to lose the battle on her emotions.
“Vi.” Davis whispered, resting his hand on his wife's shoulder. “Lily has appointments she needs to make, so we can meet our sweet great-grandbaby.” He told her, giving Lily a soft smile, his own brown eyes shining with unshed tears.
“Call me, when you stop for the night, so we know you're safe.” Violet said, giving Lily and Sy a stern look.
Even though they had only known him for less than a week, Sy had become family to the Warrens. Violet had become very grandmotherly towards him, while Davis treated him almost like a son. The two men had really bonded over the fact Sy had been in the military, with Davis having served in the U.S Marine Corps during the Vietnam war, before being honorably discharged for a medical injury, at the rank of Master Sergeant. Sy had realized something as he and Lily packed up the truck that morning, he had driven to Virginia with her so shecould reconnect with her family, but in doing so, he had gained a family in more than just Lily, the baby and Aika. It wasn't what he had been looking for, it had all found him, the whole situation, from taking the contract to fix up Lily's place to the moment they were having with her grandparents.
With every aspect and event he found himself in with Lily, it only made him feel more like he belonged.
“You hear me, Austin?” Violet's voice cut through his thoughts.
“Yes, ma'am.” He nodded, smiling and biting his lip, feeling a hard lump of emotion in his throat. “I'll make sure of it.”
“Good.” She smiled at him, then held her arms out to him.
Sy smiled out even bigger and walked back up onto the porch, bending over and carefully closed his muscular arms around her thin body, hugging her gently. “It was good meeting you Ms. Violet.” He whispered into her ear.
“You too.” She whispered back. “And you take care of her and the baby.”
“On my life.” He replied, pulling back.
They winked at each other, chuckling and making Lily and Davis laugh as well. With their good-byes said and everything, including Aika, packed back into the truck, Lily and Sy got in too, waving until they lost sight of Violet and Davis. They weren't down the road very far, when Sy pulled off the side of the road and turned in his seat to face Lily.
“What?” She frowned back at him.
“You all right?” He asked, his eyes reading her.
“I'm fine.” She replied, but he could hear the thickness in her voice.
Sy turned and jerked open his door and moved around the truck and pulled open her door. “Lily.” He said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lily pressed her lips together for a moment, before taking a deep breath, her chin trembling as her tears crashed into her. Her seat belt wasn't off a moment, before she found herself in his arms and buried against his chest, sobbing into his Metallica t-shirt.
“You'll see them again, Angel.” He murmured into her hair, hands rubbing up and down her trembling back. “I promise, and you'll get to talk to them all the time. Mac even promised to teach them how to use Skype, so you guys can video call.” He told her, trying to soothe her pain and anxiety.
“We'll come back up after the baby's born, so they can meet.” He promised, cupping the back of her head and pressing his lips to her forehead, before wiping away her tears. “Okay?” He smiled at her, feeling the same anxious twist about leaving, but not even close in magnitude that Lily was.
“Okay.” She sniffled, rubbing at her eyes and collecting herself.
“Okay.” He nodded, but neither of them moved, but then Sy looked at her with a strange resolution. “Do you wanna get married?”
“What?” Lily squeaked, frowning at him. “You've already proposed to me, Austin.”
“That's not what I'm asking, Lily.” He replied, licking his lips, the sudden idea brewing inside of his mind. “Do you want to get married, right now?”
“Here?” She asked, looking around them. “In Virginia?”
“Yeah.” He nodded at her, his heart pounding as his adrenaline started to rush through his veins. “We can go back to your grandparents' place, because we'll need witnesses, then go into town and get married. We both know we don't want a massive wedding. I don't have any family I want, or even could, invite and...”
“My grandparents are the only family I have; other than you, Aika and the baby.” She finished his sentence, falling in sync with his thought process.
“So?”
Lily held his eyes for a split moment, then smiled softly at him, and nodded at him. “I think I like that idea, Austin.”
“All right.” He grinned back, kissing her, then ran back around to the driver's seat and hauled ass back to the farm.
“Is everything all right?” Davis asked, coming out of the house as he saw the truck flying up the driveway.
“Everything is fine and dandy.” Lily chuckled at him. “But, Austin and I need your and Mee-Maw's help with something.” She grinned, giggling, with a bubbly air of excited energy.
“What is it?”
Lily looked over at Sy, who grinned at her, then back to her grandfather. “We need two witnesses.” She said, the hint thick in her voice.
A smile instantly touched Davis's lips, understanding Lily's meaning and what she and Sy wanted from him and Violet. “We'll meet you at the Loudoun County courthouse.” He told them, feeling the giddy energy coming off of Lily and Sy infect him on the porch.
“I regret not having an actual wedding ring for you.” Sy commented as the two of them made their way downtown.
“I don't need one, Sy.” Lily told him, reaching out to take one of his hands off the steering wheel. “I told you, you are enough and the ring you already gave me is enough. I don't need anything more than that, Bear.” She said, threading their fingers together.
“Other than maybe...” She grinned at him.
Sy chuckled, bringing their hands up and kissed her fingers. “I'll get you a pretzel, Sweetness.” He grinned, shaking his head. “I feel like I should just buy a pretzel factory or something, the way you're going.” He teased her.
“That would be super nice.” Lily agreed, licking her lips. “Buy the property next door and set it up right there, with the production line ending right into the house.”
It was a good thing they stopped at a red light, because Sy lost it, laughing his ass off at the image of a conveyor belt of freshly baked pretzels coming in through one of the downstairs windows of the house with Lily seated in front of it, just power munching on them with her plump baby belly, happy as all hell. He still had tears in his eyes, after they parked in the county courthouse and were standing out front, waiting for Davis and Violet to show up.
“I'm glad you're loving it up.” Lily giggled at him.
Sy cupped Lily's face in his hands. “My little pretzel.”
“Oh good lord, Wyatt.” She laughed, gripping his wrists. “You're a mess.”
“You're going to marry this mess.” He grinned at her, pulling her closer to him and felt her rounding belly brush his abs.
“I am.” She nodded, smiling up at him. “I wouldn't have it any other way, with anyone else.”
“That's a relief.” Sy replied, feigning shock to know it.
“Lovebirds, no matter where the two of you are.” Violet's voice came as Davis pushed her towards them.
“When in love.” Lily replied, unashamed or moving away from Sy.
“Are we ready for this?” Davis asked, looking around at the group.
“I am.” Lily nodded, looking up at Sy.
“So am I.” Sy replied, smiling down at her.
“We are too.” Violet nodded.
“In we go then.” Davis said, and the small group went inside the courthouse.
“Here.” Lily said, slipping off her ring and handing it to Sy. “Just humor me.” She chuckled softly, when he lifted a brow at her in question.
“All right.” He nodded, slipping it into the front pocket of his jeans.
Going into the courthouse get a marriage license and giving the appropriate documentation they needed for it, then with the license filled out and official, they patiently waited for the couple ahead of them to have their moment getting married with the judge and all, before going into the little courtroom with the judge standing at the front, waiting for them in his official robe and a bible in his hand.
“Hello, I'm Judge Timothy Miller, I'll be marrying the two of you today.” He smiled at Lily and Sy.
“Sounds good to me.” Sy replied, nodding his head politely to the judge.
“Same.” Lily agreed, nervously licking her lips.
“Are these are your witnesses?” He asked, looking to Davis and Violet.
“Yes, sir. They're my grandparents.” Lily explained, smiling over her shoulder at them.
“That's lovely.” Judge Miller smiled at them all, plainly seeing the love everyone had for each other, especially Lily and Sy. “Shall we commence?” He asked, looking between the two of them.
“Yes, please.” They both nodded, feeling their nerves and jitters start to really increase.
“All right, I'll have the two of you face each other.” He said, motioning to space in front of him.
Lily and Sy stood before him, facing each other and holding hands, while staring at each other, Violet and Davis stood off to one side. Sy smiled at Lily, giving her trembling hands a squeeze with his, feeling his own hands shake. But, neither of them were going to back out, they honestly couldn't picture standing up there with anyone else.
They had found a home and a soulmate in each other.
“We are gathered here, on this fine day, to join Austin Wyatt Syverson and Lily Ana Moore together in the holy matrimony, that is marriage.” Judge Miller began speaking, regarding Lily and Sy in turns. “The bonds of marriage are untied with sacred love and the deepest respect, as should one spouse treat the other with that sacred love and respect.”
“Now, do we have rings?” He asked, looking at them with a lifted brow.
“Just hers.” Sy said, going into his pocket and pulling it out.
“All right, put it on her finger and repeat after me.” Judge Miller instructed him.
Sy slipped the ring back onto Lily's finger. “I, Austin Wyatt Syverson, take you, Lily Ana Moore, to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forth, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; until death do us part.”
“Same with you.” The Judge said to Lily, nodding his head at her.
“I, Lily Ana Moore, take you, Austin Wyatt Syverson, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forth, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; until death do us part.” She repeated after him, letting out a relieved breath that she hadn't stumbled and missed any of it up.
“It is my pleasure and by the power vested in me, by the power of Loudoun County, in the state of Virginia, to pronounce you, man and wife.” Judge Miller grinned at them.
“Mr. Syverson, you may kiss your bride, Mrs. Syverson.”
“With pleasure.” Sy grinned with immense pride, pulling Lily against him and kissed her, intensely. “I never, in a million years, thought I would ever hear that.”
“What?” Lily asked, walking out of the courthouse with him, hand in hand.
“Mrs. Syverson.”
“I have to agree with you.” She replied, pressing her shoulder against his arm. “I always thought I'd be a Ms. for the rest of my life.”
“I guess you two are really back to Texas now?” Davis asked, coming up behind them with Violet.
“Yeah.” Sy nodded, looking at Lily. “Lily has a fourteen week baby appointment we can't miss.” He explained to them.
“But, we'll come back, when the baby is born so you guys can meet them.” Lily promised them, resting her hand on her belly.
“You better come back here with my great-grandbaby, or you'll have hell to deal with, Missy.” Violet threatened, wagging a bony finger at her, but the playful smirk on her face gave it away.
“You have my word, Mee-Maw.” Lily chuckled, bending over to kiss her on the cheek. “I wouldn't have it any other way. Mama isn't here to meet them, so I have to make sure you do.” She said, straightening up, a sad pang in her chest at knowing her own mother would never meet her grand-baby.
The group was somber for a moment as the fact settled on them, before they parted ways once again. But, Sy and Lily didn't hit the road as soon as they left the courthouse either.
“Where are we going, Bear?” She asked him, confused.
“Well, I promised you a pretzel, for one.” He chuckled at her. “And two, it doesn't seem right.” He said, wiggling the fingers of his left hand.
So, Sy got Lily the pretzel he had promised her, then they stopped off at the jeweler's he had bought her engagement, now wedding ring at, and after browsing for several moments, Lily stopped beside a glass display case, spotting a ring inside of it and pointed at it.
“If that doesn't scream Austin Syverson, then my name isn't Lily Syverson.” She said, staring at it wide eyed.
Sy laughed and crossed over to her, looking into the case at the ring she was pointing at and felt himself freeze, as it hit him, like seeing hers had. “I'm in total agreement with you. Both on the ring and your name.” He said, seeing the tungsten carbide ring.
“That's the one.” He told the jeweler, nodding his head at the ring.
“Fits like a glove.” Lily said, watching Sy slip it onto his left ring finger.
“Or in this case, a wedding ring.” He chuckled at her, turning it around his finger.
“Neither of us expected this, when we were driving out here.” She said, going back out to the car with him.
“Actually, I had been considering proposing to you for a while.” Sy confessed, finally getting them onto the highway back home to Celina. “Even before we found out about the baby.”
Lily twisted in her seat to face him, face slack in surprise. “Seriously!”
“Yep.” He nodded, grinning. “You're home to me, Lily. You've been a home to me for such a long time, before we slept together that night in the barn and everything.” He licked his lips and shifted in his seat. “I thought, maybe, even if we didn't have that sort of connection, we could still at least take care of each other and keep each other—company.” He told her, drumming on the steering wheel with his thumbs.
“I have a lot of baggage with my time in the military and people have a lot of trouble dealing with that and rarely stick around because of it. I honestly expected you to run me off that day on the porch, when I nearly took your head off.” He explained, babbling at this point.
“But you didn't. Even then, I expected you to tiptoe or be afraid of me.”
“But, I'm not afraid of you, Austin. I have no reason to be afraid of you or tiptoe around you.” Lily told him, hurt that he thought she would get rid of him or be scared of him, because of the things he can't really control. “Even when I first saw you, I wasn't afraid of you. You've never given me a reason to be. I sure as hell would never blame you for having PTSD for being in multiple war zones, as many times and as long as you had been.”
“I admit, if you ever did give me a reason to believe you'd hurt me, I would have told you to piss off.” She told him, honestly.
“I would have left long before that, if I thought I would do something to hurt you.” He said, looking over at her, the fear that he would do something, was evident in his eyes.
“I know that.” She whispered. “But, you're not, Austin. Not then. Not now. Not ever, and I'm not going anywhere either. I'm staying right with you, I'll always be there for you, especially in those moments.” She promised him, leaning over and kissing him on the cheek.
“We're stuck together.”
“Now and forever.” Sy grinned, happy and relieved.
“Plus a day.” Lily giggled, laying her head on his shoulder.

“I want to make a tradition of our own.” Sy said, breaking the quiet of the truck. “If we have a boy.”
They were only a few hours from being back home in Celina and felt the peacefulness of being so close to their own place again, their own space and bed.
“Okay.” Lily replied, settling her eyes on him.
“So, the girls on your mother's side of the family were named after flowers, right?”
“Correct.” She nodded back.
“Well, I was named Austin, because my parents met in Austin.”
“Oh, don't tell me you want to name our potential son, Celina.” Lily giggled, teasing him.
“Gods, no.” Sy laughed back, shaking his head at her. “But, I do want to name any would-be sons after cities. Like, Dallas.” He explained to her.
“Austin Jr.” Lily chuckled back. “But, I like that idea.”
“Can I make one more suggestion?” He inquired, lifting a brow at her.
“Of course.”
“If we do have a daughter, I know we want to give her a flower themed first name, but can I pick her middle name?”
“Of course, do you have one in mind?” Lily asked, tilting her head at him.
“I do.” Sy nodded at her, his blue eyes getting a far off look.
“What is it?”
“Let's find out, if it's a girl first.” He said, shaking his head and clearing his vision. “Then, I'll tell you.”
“Okay, keeper of secrets.” She chuckled.

“Son of a—“
Lily paused as she carried the laundry basket up the stairs, hearing Sy's muffled curse from the guest room, turned nursery.
“What happened to good ol' fashioned, pure American made furniture?” He grumbled around his smarting thumb.
Chuckling and setting the basket down, Lily went down to the nursery. “Is that a grizzly Bear I'm hearing?” She asked, her voice light and playful as she smiled at him.
“Why did we have to buy the baby stuff from IKEA?” He asked, scowling at the mostly put together changing table.
“Because, their baby stuff is adorable.” She giggled at him, moving over to him, to check his smashed appendage.
Sy huffed, but let her take his hand in hers, watching her quietly and gently fuss over his swollen and multi-colored thumb. “If you like them, then it doesn't matter.” He sighed, frowning at the other unboxed baby furniture that was in the room with them.
“I do like them.” Lily nodded, assured he hadn't done any real damage to his hand. “That's why I got them. It goes with our neutral theme, since we don't know the baby's sex yet.” She told him, kissing his thumb, with a mischievous smile.
“Then, I'll get it done.” He replied, cupping her face and pulled her in, kissing her gently.
“Bob the Builder can eat his heart out.” She chuckled, kissing him back. “He's got nothing on Captain Syverson.” She proclaimed proudly, before standing back up and retrieving her laundry basket, to put away the clean clothes she'd spent all morning washing, in the master bedroom.
When she finished putting the clothes away, Lily paused in the middle of the bedroom, tapping her foot and chewing on her bottom lip as a sudden idea brewed inside of her mind. It wasn't a completely new idea, but the evolution of it was. Turning the upper half of her body towards the open bedroom door, listening to the bumps and curses coming from the nursery down the hall.
“Sy!” She called out to him, then winced hearing a crash and another curse.
“Yeah, babe?” He answered, sighing.
“You wanna distraction?” She asked, biting the corner of her lip and feeling bad.
Sy appeared in the nursery doorway, his bruised fingers pressed to his chest. “I would love one, Angel.” He replied, giving her a grateful, but pained expression. “What do you have in mind?”
Lily stepped into their closet for a moment, before coming back out and holding up her professional digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix, for him to see, and Sy frowned at her, head tilting in question.
“Baby book.” She smiled at him.
“What's that gotta do with me?” He asked, blinking at her.
“You silly Bear.” Lily giggled at him. “You've gotta be in the book too! You are the Daddy.”
“Okay.” Sy nodded, biting his lip and glancing around. “What do you want me to do?”
“Let's go downstairs.” She said, taking her camera and headed downstairs with Sy following after her. “This'll be a good place.” She decided, stopping in the dining room, where there was a clear wall by the bay window, where there was a lot of light.
Lily paused for a moment, then disappeared into the kitchen, coming back with a little whiteboard she would write little notes on, doctor's appointments, deadlines or anything else she and Sy needed to remember. Sy watched her bustle about, putting her idea into motion. Erasing the writing on the whiteboard, Lily wrote fourteen weeks on it, then carefully hung it up on the wall, then planted her hands on her hips and left the room again, making Sy chuckle at her.
“Perfectionist.” He teased, when she came back, with a short tripod.
“To the end.” She giggled back, setting the tripod up on the dining table and connected the camera to it. “All right, now.” She approached Sy, resting her hands on him and turned him sideways.
“Now, don't move.”
“As you wish, Angel.” Sy grinned, planting his feet in place.
“That's a good Bear.” She grinned back, patting him on the chest, then removed her shirt.
“Well, ya gotta see my tummy.” Lily giggled at him at his lifted brow.
“Well, if you're taking your shirt off, I'm taking mine off.” He replied, yanking his blue tank top off over his head.
“What, for your six babies?” Lily teased him, touching his fur covered abs.
“They're sympathy babies.” Sy chuckled at her.
“Sympathy babies?” She roared with laughter.
“You know what a sympathy pregnancy is?” He asked, grinning at her. “It's that, just six mini ones.”
“Well, that's the fast way to have a bunch of kids.” Lily joked back, thoroughly amused at his sympathy babies.
“Okay, back to what we were doing.”
“Right, what now, Mama?”
“I'm going to stand here.” She said, moving in front of him and resting her back against his chest. “And you're going to put your hands here.” She reached back, gripping Sy's wrists and moved them around to the front of her, so his hands cradled her growing baby bump.
“Like this?” Sy asked, making small adjustments.
“Yes, perfect.” Lily nodded, holding a small remote in her hand that would allow her to snap the photo, but before she could press the button, Aika came charging in and barked at them. “Oh my, how could I be so rude to forget you, Aika.” She cooed at the German Shepherd.
“Aika, sit.” Sy snapped his fingers at her and she instantly sat down before them, staring up at them, ears erect and head cocked to the side.
“That's so perfect.” Lily grinned at Aika. “So, I'm going to look at my belly and you can look at me.” She instructed Sy.
“Way ahead of you, Angel.” Sy replied, already looking at the back of her head, and just before she pressed the button on the camera's remote, he kissed her hair. “Let's see it.” He said, moving away from her.
Lily grabbed the camera off the tripod and pulled it up on the display screen, instantly grinning at it. The image of Sy cradling her baby bump, while she looked down at it, and kissing the back of her head, with Aika looking curiously up at her two and a half humans. She couldn't wait to add it to the baby book she had bought several weeks before and started putting together.
“You want to do a few more?” She asked, looking up from the camera.
“You're damn right I do.” Sy nodded, excited at the thought of doing an activity with Lily and anything that included their baby, still in her belly or not.
“Do you have any suggestions?” She inquired, tilting her head at him.
He bit his lip, then lifted a finger at her and left the room, coming back several minutes later with a worn, Army green shirt with two patches on the short sleeves, one for the U.S Army Special Forces and the other was the custom Special Forces patch for the team he was the leader of.
“I wore this a lot, while on tour.” He explained to her, looking at the garment in his hands.
Lily smiled at him, seeing and feeling how shy he was as he tried to explain his thoughts for what he wanted for a few shots. “I like that idea, Bear.” She assured him.
“Yeah?” Sy replied, lighting up.
“I do.” Lily nodded, eyes sparkling at him. “Just tell me what you want me to do.”
“Okay, um.” He looked around, he wasn't as good as Lily with setting up photo shots, but he had an idea in his head. “Here, put it on.” He said, handing her his shirt.
“All right.” Lily took his shirt and slipped it on.
“Can you..” He paused, biting his lip and glancing around. “Can you sit the camera up on the coffee table, like you had it here?” He asked, motioning to the tripod still sitting on the dining table.
“I very much can.” Lily nodded, grabbing the tripod and her camera, taking them into the living room and set them up on the coffee table as he asked.
“What next?”
“Lay down on the couch, sorta propped up on the arm.”
Nodding, Lily did as he asked and Sy fussed with the camera for a moment, making sure the shot would be wide enough, then moved around the coffee table, slipping onto the couch with her and positioning himself so he was between her legs, his face level with her belly.
“You have the remote to the camera?” He asked her.
“I do.” She nodded, grinning at him and held the remote up for him to see.
“Okay, good.” He gave her a short nod. “I'm gonna kiss your gorgeous belly and I want you to snap it.”
“As you wish, Bear.” Lily chuckled, gently patting his cheek.
Sy lowered his head, a soft blush on his bearded cheeks, that Lily hoped she could get in on the camera, and gently pressed his lips to her belly through the fabric of his old Army shirt. Lily waited a moment, admiring and savoring it for herself, before actually taking the photo of him doing it.
“How about one for just you and I?” Lily suggested, when Sy sat back up. “Not for the baby book, just me and you.”
“Oh?” Sy grinned, his brow going up in a suggestive manner.
Lily licked her lips and nodded her head. “Where are your dog tags?”
“My dog tags?”
“Well, I certainly don't have any.” She chuckled at him.
“Huh, I think they're upstairs in one of the boxes I brought over when I officially moved in.” He replied, brow creasing as he tried to recall which of the boxes it was he might have put them in.
“Then, go find them.”
“All right then, Miss.” He replied, getting up off the couch and going back upstairs.
“That's Mrs. Thank you!” Lily hollered after him, shaking her head and stood up, grabbing her camera and the tripod, then going upstairs after him.
“What is that beautiful brain thinking?” Sy asked, pulling out a box from the closet and setting it on their bed as she came into the room.
“When you find your dog tags, I'll tell you.” She smiled at him, setting the tripod and camera down on the dresser across from their bed.
“Ah-ha!” He let out triumphantly, smiling and pulled out his dog tags from the third box for Lily to see the two thin tags dangling from their chain, rimmed by black rubber to keep them from making noise, when they hit together.
“Nope.” He shook his head at her, pulling the dog tags away as she reached out for them. “Tell me what you want them for first, little lady.”
“I'm going to get naked and they'll be the only thing I'm wearing.” She told him, bluntly.
Sy gulped, his eyes widening at the thought. “Sold.” He squeaked, handing them to her.
Lily removed her clothing and slipped Sy's dog tags over her head, resting between the swell of her breasts and the top of her sloping belly. “Get in bed, Syverson.” She said, motioning to their bed with her head.
“As you wish, Syverson.” He chuckled at her. “You want me to get naked too?” He teased her.
“If you wanna.” Lily chuckled back, following close behind him.
“I do.” He smirked and pushed his shorts down, kicking them aside and got into bed, resting back against their pillows and the headboard.
Lily crawled into bed with him, nuzzling herself between his legs, making him moan a bit as her ass rubbed against his semi-flaccid cock. She hooked Sy's feet around, so she sat in the bowl in the middle of them and rested back against his chest, then had him rest his head on her shoulder, with one of his hands cupped the side of her stomach and she rested her hand on top of his there. She gasped softly, feeling his other hand gently cup one of her sore breasts, his face gently nuzzling her neck with a soft smile.
“I love you.” He murmured.
“I love you too, Bear.” She cooed back, resting comfortably against him, and snapped the shot. “It'll be better, when my stomach is bigger.”
“Oh, I really can't wait for that.” Sy admitted, rubbing his calloused hands over her stomach. “I can't wait for the moment when I can put my hands on your belly and feel the baby move against my palms.” He told her, fantasizing about it.
“I feel little flutters every now and then.” Lily replied, resting her head back against his shoulder. “But, nothing I can share with you yet.” She told him, comfortable in their weird little huddle.
“One day soon, Angel.” He whispered into her ear, hugging his arms around her and closing his eyes.
Tumblr media
“Sy!” Lily screamed, wiggling and panting. “Austin! Jesus Christ.” She huffed as Aika barked and paced around her.
Sy came pounding down the stairs, hearing her frantic yelling from where he was upstairs, still working in the nursery. “Lily!” He yelled, tearing into the living room, out of breath and scared out of his mind.
“What's wrong?” He asked, staring down at her as she laid on her bright purple yoga mat on the living room floor, she had gotten into pregnancy yoga, after trying it during one of the parenting classes they attended. “Is it the baby?” His eyes searched every inch of her body, watching Aika shove her nose underneath Lily's hips, sides and in the nook of her neck, making her wiggle even more and squeal.
“The baby is fine, Austin.” Lily huffed, out of breath and going limp on the yoga mat. “It's me, that's the problem.” She scowled, her face bright red.
Sy's face didn't change. “What is it, Angel?”
Lily bit her lip and huffed again, glancing away from him, knowing what was coming next out of him. “I can't get up.”
And there it fucking was.
Sy's head reared back and his laugh roared through the house like a boom of thunder, startling the daylights out of Aika, who barked directly into Lily's ear and bolted for the new doggy door in the kitchen and vanished into the backyard. His whole body shook as he continued to laugh at her for not being able to get up from her mat, even starting to wheeze.
“Good lord, Wyatt!” Lily growled at him.
“You're like a turtle!” He howled, bending forward, tears rolling down his cheeks. “Should I call PETA first? I don't want to get in trouble for endangering wildlife.” He cackled, rubbing her now pronounced belly.
“The only thing endanger is your sex life!” Lily threatened him. “Now, help me up! Your kid is squishing my bladder!” She begged, holding her hands out to him and desperately wiggling her fingers.
“All right! All right.” He chuckled, grabbing her hands and carefully pulled her up onto her feet. “Waddle faster, my little submarine!” He shouted after her, starting to laugh all over again.
“I hate you!” She shouted over her shoulder, just making it to the hall bathroom.
Tumblr media
“You ready, Bear?” Lily asked, squeezing Sy's hand as they followed the nurse back to the exam room.
“As I can be, Angel.” He replied, taking a deep breath. “As I can be.”
It was Lily's twenty-third week baby appointment and the moment of truth, when they found out the gender of their baby. They were both excited and nervous about finding out, having spent the last two weeks scouring names of cities and flowers and making their own lists for names if they had a girl or a boy, to then narrow down, once they did find out what gender they were having; and today was that day.
“Good morning.” Dr. Evers smiled as she came into their exam room. “How are parents and baby doing today?” She asked, sitting down on a stool.
“We're doing really well.” Lily smiled back at her, giddy. “Ready to find out the gender.” She said, glancing over at Sy.
“I bet you're just chomping it to bits to find out.” Dr. Evers chuckled, doing a quick regular exam of Lily, before setting up the ultrasound.
“I love hearing that sound.” Sy said, unconscionably as the baby's heartbeat filled the room.
“It's a precious sound.” Evers agreed, smiling over at him.
“Amen.” Lily nodded, gripping Sy's hand and staring at the screen.
“Let's see if I can get a better position.” Dr. Evers said, moving the transducer around Lily's belly, spreading more of the warm jelly with it, then went quiet for a few minutes, typing a few things on the keyboard.
“Is everything okay?” Sy asked, nervously.
“Everything is perfectly fine.” She smiled at him. “Just making a few measurements.” She assured him, before moving the transducer again. “Ah, there you are.” She grinned brightly, finally getting the right angle on the screen that she needed to tell her what gender the Syverson's baby was.
“Do you want to know right now, or do you want me to write it down and you can look when you get home?” She asked, regarding the two of them.
Lily and Sy looked at each other, a silent conversation going on between them for a long moment before Lily looked back at Dr. Evers and smiled, nervously, at her and nodded her head.
“Now, please.”
Nodding her head back at them, then pointed to the screen. “If you look right there.” She outlined what she was indicating. “You can just make out what it is. So, I'm happy to tell you, you are expecting a healthy baby girl.”
“A girl.” Sy echoed back, his voice weak with emotion and his eyes glued to the screen. “I have a daughter.”
“A daughter, Bear.” Lily grinned at him, reaching up and wiping away the silent tears that were starting to fall down his face. “We have a daughter, Sy.”
Sy wrapped his arms around Lily and hugged her for dear life, burying his face into her neck, soaking the shoulder of her shirt with his tears. “Thank you.” He sniffled and hiccuped. “Thank you.”
“We did it together, Sy.” Lily replied, emotional as well. “We both did this.”
“You guys are doing great and the baby is doing amazingly.” Dr. Evers complimented them, a bit choked up as well. “I'll have you set up your next appointment and you know to contact me, if anything happens.”
“Thanks, doc.” Sy smiled at her.
“It's my pleasure.” She assured him.
“All right, Bear. You said, if we had a girl you had a middle name for her, now out with it.” Lily said, as they drove back home.
Sy cleared his throat, still an emotional wreck that they were having a daughter. “Imogene.”
“Imogene.” Lily repeated, blinking at him. “Why Imogene?” She asked, tilting her head at him.
He was quiet for a long while, trying to get a handle on an old emotional lump that was trying to push up alongside the one already in his throat. “I want her to have the middle name, Imogene,” He started to explain, as they reached their driveway.
“Because, it was my mama's name.” He told her, softly.

Prompt: "I'll Be Here To Protect You" - Loki x Reader - Words: 2,564
A/N: This sort of follows the oneshot "Worthy" but can be read alone. Basically, Reader is Silver Shadow (see Marvel character list for reference), Loki and Reader are married, yada yada, you'll see

"Silver? I think you should take a look at this," Cap said over the comms. You, Cap, Loki, and Widow had gone to investigate a Hydra base you'd received intel on. You'd been informed that the base was abandoned but that they still had some records stored there.
"On my way," You replied to the Captain, teleporting over immediately. "Oh my goodness," You gasped at the sight that greeted you. There, lying curled up in a small cage, was a girl no older than 5 or 6. Cap ripped open the cage and gently pulled her out, holding her in his arms. She whimpered slightly and you could tell she'd been beaten. Instantly, you wanted to kill the people who'd done that to her.
"Can you help her?" He whispered, not wanting to startle her any more. You nodded and held out your arms to take her. As soon as you touched her, you started working.
"You might need to hold me up," You warned the Captain. "This is going to be tiring."
"Alright," He nodded. "Then let's get you out of here." He easily lifted you both and carried you out to the quinjet. You vaguely heard him talking on the comms but were a bit too focused to actually make out his words. He set you down on one of the chairs with the girl curled up in your lap. After a while, before the others got back, she seemed to be healed and sleeping. You were exhausted so you adjusted yourself slightly in the chair and dozed off as well.
"Y/N?" You turned your head, eyes still refusing to open with exhaustion, and groaned slightly feeling the kink in your neck from sleeping weird. "Y/N! Please wake up, hm? Please?" Someone said. Now they were poking your arm. Your other arm however seemed to be asleep, as you couldn't feel it, and you had a weight on your legs and chest. Suddenly remembering what all had transpired, your eyes shot open. "See? I told you she would wake up if I did that!" Natasha said, with what you knew to be false happiness, to the girl on your lap. The girl simply glared back at Nat before turning her attention to you, with a completely different expression. Her eyes widened and she tried smiling as though she was out of practice and waved slightly.
"Hi there," You smiled. "My name's Y/N. What's yours?" She frowned and looked away before mumbling something. "Hm? I couldn't hear you," You said.
"Helius," She replied with a frown.
"Oh," You replied. "Well, do you like that name?" She shook her head vigorously. "Would you like a new name? One just as pretty as you?"
"Really?" She asked, eyes lighting up once more.
"Yep! And then you'll have a special name for yourself! Just like I do, and just like Natasha," You said pointing at the redhead. "And-" You were about to point to your husband when you realized for the first time since waking back up that he wasn't with the team anymore. Your eyes darted back to Nat who looked worried.
"Y/N?" The little girl said quietly, pulling on your sleeve.
"What is it, dear?" She whispered in it in your ear and you nodded. "Oh yes, um. The bathroom's right over here." You took her over and opened the door.
"I get to use that?" She asked, surprised.
"Yes," You replied slowly.
"Wow! You're really nice!" She hurried inside and closed the door herself. You stood there for a moment, shocked, and Nat walked up behind you.
"She's not even accustomed to using a normal bathroom, Nat!"
"Those people, if they even should be called that," she said, shaking her head. "Are monsters." You looked around once more, trying to see if Loki had shown back up. "He's up with Steve," She said, pointing to the cockpit.
"What? Why? He's willingly spending time with the Captain?" You said teasing.
"He said he needed to think."
"Did he give any clues?"
"Not verbally. But I think he's nervous."
"About what?" You exclaimed. She nodded towards the bathroom door.
"Being a Dad."
"A Da-" you interrupted yourself, chuckling lightly. "You think just because we found her means we'll be her parents?" Nat smirked and nodded. "First of all, Tony will probably have a cow if we wanted to keep her."
"Well your husband had a horse, may I remind you."
"That was a made up story! Would you please stop referencing it!" You shrieked.
"Only when it stops being funny," She laughed.
"Second, there's probably already some rule in place that states we need to put her in the custody of Child Protective Services."
"We'll see about that."
"She's yours!" Tony said 2 hours later once you'd arrived home and gone straight to a conference room to meet with him.
"What?" You exclaimed. You hadn't even had the chance to talk with Loki yet. You glanced outside the room at the girl sitting in the hallway. The whole team was there with you but Loki had still not said a word. You looked at him but he refused to make eye contact and you couldn't read his expression. "Don't get me wrong, Tony. She's wonderful and I think she deserves the world but why?"
"You found her! Who knows if she has powers? It's best to have one of our own caring for her just in case. And besides, according to Romanoff's story, the girl practically glared daggers into anyone else who came her way."
"Alright I guess. I mean," You sighed. "Loki? Darling? Um, what do you think?"
"You've already made the decision, Stark. I will respect that and allow my wife to make the necessary changes to our living quarters to care for the child. Now is there anything else you'll be needing at the moment? I need a shower."
"Uh, no. It's-we're done," Tony said, seeming surprised at Loki's attitude just as you were. You all started to head out but Tony stopped you for a moment. "Here," He said, handing you a credit card. "Buy whatever you want for her." You smiled and shook your head.
"What do you know? The man of iron does have a heart."
"Yeah but don't tell anyone," He chuckled.
About a week later, Helius was in her new bedroom, thoroughly showered in gifts from Tony, but still not talking to anyone. Neither was Loki for that matter. You yourself were exhausted, staying up late nights keeping the girl company when she woke up screaming from nightmares. When you eventually came back to bed, you often found your husband had gotten up already and disappeared somewhere to 'be alone'. With Helius, you offered her a few ideas for a new name but she didn't like any of them. You even told her some ideas the others had suggested but she hated those even more. You seemed to be the only one she was comfortable with. With Loki, you'd tried to talk to him, even calling and texting him but he wouldn't answer. Today, though, you decided you needed to do something about both of them or else you were probably going to go crazy. First, though, you had some formal paperwork to take care of with Tony in order to have legal guardianship of her.
"I don't know what to do about it, Stank," You sighed, hours later. Tony wrinkled his nose slightly at the nickname but listened. "Half of this I honestly still can't fill out for you because she won't pick a name. I don't know how to make her socialize and I sure don't know how to get Loki to spill what's bugging him." Tony got up and walked to your side, putting his hand on your shoulder.
"I'm not sure what to tell you either, Shiny."
"Watch it," You hissed, whipping out a knife you always kept on your person and holding it dangerously close to his baby-maker. He backed away quickly.
"Maybe you just need to corner your husband and, uh, pull that trick on him," He chuckled nervously. "Ok, well, um, just hold onto that paperwork and send it to me when it's done, alright?" You nodded and gathered it together before heading back to your floor. It was early afternoon and you thought you may have a shot at talking to your husband while Helius took her nap. She'd found her own little routine to keep her occupied during the day in her room even when you weren't there. But you always had to be home when she slept because of her nightmares and she refused to socialize with others.
"I'll be in the bedroom until dinner is ready," Loki said upon your return.
"Can we please talk first?" You asked.
"There's nothing to discuss," He replied, quickly walking to the bedroom and slamming the door.
"Oh yes there is!" You exclaimed, teleporting yourself inside the bedroom.
"I hate when you do that!" He yelled.
"Well I hate when you do this! Now man up and tell me what's wrong or I really will back you in a corner with my knife!"
"I don't want to talk about it, alright?" He hissed. "Now keep your voice down or else you'll alert the child that we're having a disagreement."
"Oh, so you're finally acknowledging her?" A guilty expression flashed over his face and he turned away. "What is it, Loki?" You pleaded. "I don't want to argue. I just want to know what's going through your mind. Ever since we found her, you've been-"
"You found her," He said. "I want no part in raising a child that is not my own."
"What about your own blood?" You asked, wondering for your own future if he was against kids in general or not.
"I-" He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "I don't know. But I certainly don't want to adopt. I've never seen a good result of adoption."
"Oh," You said slowly. "So that's what this is about."
"What do you mean?"
"You're worried about your own background. Is that it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," He huffed, crossing his arms and further distancing himself from you.
"Loki, please. Listen to me. You may not have had the best family situation yourself, but that doesn't mean you won't be a great Dad. I think-no-I know you'd do wonderfully! Please believe me!"
"I-"
"Mommy!" A voice called out, sounding frightened. Your eyes and Loki's widened in surprise. She'd never called you that before.
"I had better check on her," You sighed. Loki nodded and you rushed off. Half an hour later you came out of her room to find Loki waiting for you on the couch.
"What happened?"
"More nightmares," You groaned and slumped down next to him.
"Is that why you're never in bed anymore?" He asked quietly.
"Yeah. It seems she can't go more than half an hour without having another one." He nodded silently and took your hand in his.
"Well, I suppose I should commend you for your sacrifices for her. I just don't know if I can-" You shushed him, pressing a finger to his lips.
"I understand, Loki," You smiled sadly. "Mind you, I don't exactly agree. But I respect how you feel. I guess I can talk with Tony tomorrow about finding her a new home." You got up quickly, to hide your own emotions from him, and went to prepare dinner. That night, Loki made you go to bed extra early so you could actually get some sleep. You appreciated it, but your internal clock had gotten so used to it already that it woke you up a few hours later about the time Helius would be having her first nightmare. When you didn't hear anything from her room, you got worried. You rushed out of your bedroom and, as you approached her room, heard voices.
"Where's mommy?" Helius cried, again sounding frightened. Drawing your knife outside her closed door, you were ready to teleport in a surprise whatever intruder was there.
"She's sleeping, sweetheart. Do you think your new Dad could help you?" You nearly cried at hearing Loki's voice so soft and gentle with her. It took you a few more seconds to process that he'd referred to himself as her 'Dad'.
"I thought you hated me," She whispered.
"I don't hate you, little one," He assured her. "Do you want to know why I haven't talked to you yet?" You didn't hear a reply but as Loki went on you could only assume she nodded. "I never had a good father. And when you came along a week ago, I was so worried that if I tried to be your father I would mess something up. And I couldn't let that happen because you are too wonderful and too beautiful."
"I don't have a beautiful name," she sighed.
"Hasn't mommy come up with any good ideas?" He asked.
"No, well, yes but I didn't like any of them. They're pretty but," she trailed off, leaving the sentence unfinished.
"May I suggest one of my personal favorites?" You cracked the door open just a little so you could see. Their backs were to you, sitting on the edge of the bed. Loki had his arm wrapped around her as she curled onto his side, dwarfed by his height even sitting. She nodded slowly in reply to his question. "How about Arabella?"
"I love it!" She exclaimed, standing quickly and jumping up and down. "Thank you, Dad," She said smiling brightly as she threw her arms around his neck for a hug. He was surprised but gladly gave her a somewhat awkward hug back. "But what if the monsters come back?" She asked, voice trembling slightly.
"I'll protect you."
"Always?"
"I, Loki of Asgard, hereby make a promise to you, Arabella, my daughter. I'll be here to protect you forever and always." Arabella hugged him again and started crying. "Why are you crying, my dear?"
"Because you're the most bestest Dad I could ever ask for."
"Well, I, uh, thank you," He stuttered, not used to that kind of compliment. "I've got an idea. How about tomorrow morning I introduce you to some of the others here?"
"Why? I don't wanna!" You bit back a chuckle at her childish exclamation.
"But they're all really nice and they'll be like your new Aunts and Uncles!"
"Well, maybe," She conceded.
"Good! Now why don't you go back to sleep and I'll stay right here until all the monsters go away for tonight." She nodded and gave him another hug before allowing him to tuck her in. You smiled, wiping away your own tears, and snuck back to your bedroom. A couple hours later, Loki snuck back in himself.
"So how's the bestest Dad doing?" You whispered. Loki tensed up when you said that.
"So you heard us?" He said. You got up and wrapped your arms around his waist from behind.
"Yep," you said. "And I couldn't be happier. You really mean it? This means I don't have to talk to Tony tomorrow?"
"Absolutely not!" He replied grinning.
"Well then I have some very exciting news for you." He turned around, quirking his eyebrows questioningly. "How would you like to be a father to two?"

You smiled when childish laughter erupted from the garden, the sound warming your heart at your son's joy. The curtains in the children's bedroom filtered the sunlight, generating a subdued and colourful atmosphere. Your son was in a deep sleep, his tiny shut fists resting delicately at the sides of his head, his pacifier moving to the rhythm of his breathing. With the back of your finger, you tenderly stroke his cheek, a joyful smile on your lips.
You sighed lightly, remembering your husband's reaction the day you announced the good news. When you first learned that you were going to be a mother, you weren't sure what to think. Sangyeon's potential bad reaction terrified you, having no idea how well he was going to take this news. The weight had come off your shoulders as he fell to his knees in front of you, eyes sparkling with happiness and excitement, you knew you wanted to live this experience with your boyfriend by your side.
Three years have passed since that wonderful event, and it's safe to say you've never been happier. A beautiful, healthy little boy had joined your pair, and Sangyeon had become an overprotective father, always ready and prepared to take care of his son by relying on the many readings and Internet researches that he had completed during your pregnancy. While you were feeding your son or resting, he would transform into a man-of-all-work and help around the house. It took a huge weight off your shoulders, just like when he woke up instead of you to soothe your child who was struggling to sleep through the night, allowing you to sleep and recharge your batteries. Your husband made a great daddy and loved you and your son to death, showering you both with unconditional love.
You announced your second pregnancy on his birthday, a few weeks after returning from your honeymoon. You stumbled across a video in which a woman was giving her husband baby clothes for his birthday on social media, and you decided that it was a creative idea and did the same.
During all these years of living together and this new experience as parents, Sangyeon had decided that you were the one with whom he wanted to settle in and share his life, proposing to you two years after your son's birth. The preparation for this fabulous event had brought you together a lot, and your skills in relationship communication had evolved exponentially.
Here you are now in a life of four, living in a house with a dog and a garden, a place your oldest son loved almost more than his bedroom and his toys. He spent most of his time there when the weather was nice and warm, having fun playing soccer with his father. He also loved making angels when the snow was in abundance, the smile that radiated on his face filled you with the greatest happiness in the world.
Taking your new born son in your arms, you rocked him gently against you, feeling his warm body all wrapped up in his pyjamas against your chest. He struggled to open his eyes and let his dummy fall against his chest. He was so cute that you couldn't suppress a smile, your son returning almost instantly the second his eyes met yours. The big brown orbs he got from his father held a lot of love, and his little feet wriggled in excitement when you kissed his forehead.
"Did you sleep well, my little angel?" Your thumb stroked his cheek, and he continued to gaze at you in awe, your heart softening with tenderness as he let out a gurgle to answer. Gently fixing his position in your arms as his cheek rolled against your chest, his eyes still misted with sleep bored into yours as he slowly emerged from his slumber.
Opening the patio door to the balcony, you tightened your cardigan around yourself as a light wind blew, creating a slight chill in the comforting morning heat of late spring. Your eldest son was chasing a foam ball, your husband standing in front of the miniature goal that reached his thigh, purposefully missing the ball for your son to score.
"Goaaaaaaaal!" Your other son threw his little arms in the air and ran around the garden, your dog following him with his tail wagging. Sangyeon shrugged but smiled, amused by your son's attitude and enthusiasm. You smiled too from your spot on the balcony, gently cradling your other son in your arms. "Good job, Hyungseo!" Your husband looked around the living room for a short moment, looking for you, but he gave you a smile you couldn't imagine brighter when he noticed you up there, congratulating your son for his accomplishment, but the latter didn't hear you.
Once he finally stopped, breathless, Sangyeon walked over to him while chuckling, bending down to be at the same level with him. You watched your husband whisper something into your son's ear, who almost immediately looked up at you. You gave him a little wave with a smile, and he came running up, locating himself just below the balcony, a huge smile on his face.
"Hi Mom! Hi Youngjae!" He moved his small hands from side to side, and you gave him a flying kiss, Sangyeon lifting him from behind to settle him on his shoulders. He laughed as he kept waving, sending him a playful wink in return as you couldn't reach him.
Your husband grabbed Hyungseo's hands and started running around the garden, still with him on his shoulders, a crystal-clear laugh falling from their lips as they were brimming with energy already so early in the morning. You walked down to the garden, and they stopped when they saw you, Hyungseo touching the ground again. He ran to you as you sat in a lounge chair, watching his younger brother with attentive eyes.
"Are you going to feed him, Mommy?" He asked, and you nodded, making sure your new born was comfortably positioned in your arms. "Come on Hyungseo, let's go make some bread and jam, hm? Youngjae needs to be calm to eat. We can come back to them as soon as we prepared breakfast, okay?" Your husband explained to your child, whose face immediately lit up at the mention of food. “Yesssss!" Your son exclaimed and clapped his tiny hands, Sangyeon gently pushing him inside the house. You looked up smiling, closing your eyes for a quick second as he kissed your lips. "I'll be back in 5 minutes," his hand came to cradle your cheek, and you nodded, enjoying the tender gesture. He kissed your forehead before striding towards the kitchen, closing the sliding door behind him.
You took the opportunity to breastfeed your son, who had his tiny hand resting against your chest, trying to cling onto his food source as your two other boys bustled about and laughed in the kitchen. Your thumb stroked his chubby cheek and you beamed, the tightness you felt in your breast from the milk not being able to compete with the happiness that bloomed in your heart.
"Here you go Mommy," your son's frail voice reached your ears again as your gaze stared into space for a brief moment out of exhaustion, your hand still against your child's face. Hyungseo was holding a tall glass of juice with his two hands, Sangyeon appearing again, balancing three plates in his hands. He put two on his side and one at the other end of the table where Hyungseo usually sat. You kissed your son on the forehead as a thank you and took a few sips, feeling the sweet, pulpy liquid run down your neck and quench your thirst.
"Breakfast served for the best mom in the world," he handed you a plate with two slices of toasted bread spread with butter and honey cut into small squares, smiling at the fact that he had thought about you and your health. "Thank you very much honey," he kissed the top of your head and watched for a few moments Youngjae in your arms as he suckled quietly, his finger caressing his tiny, plump arm. "He's just as handsome as his mother," Sangyeon muttered before looking up at you, a tender smile on his face. You kissed him again, this time on the cheek, your heart going fuzzy at the notable sweetness and sincerity behind his words.
Your husband sat down with Hyungseo and began to enjoy breakfast, chatting and exchanging looks with great affection. You had never been so complete, and you could only thank life for making your path cross with Sangyeon's. He gave you a wink and quickly wiped off the chocolate spread that decorated the corner of your son's mouth with his finger before bringing it to his own mouth, the latter asking a lot of questions about his little brother and his health.
He was indeed going through the phase when curiosity was the only thing on his mind, your husband sometimes losing patience as your son wondered about anything and everything. Fortunately, he hadn't yet been amazed at how he and his little brother were created and brought into the world, but it won't be long in coming.
"Mommy! Are you coming to play with Daddy and me?" Hyungseo ran to the rocking chair in which you always fed Youngjae, your eldest child stroking his little brother's skull with his hand. "No Hyungseo, leave Mommy alone, she needs some rest. Nourishing a child can get pretty exhausting for your mother, but she will come and play soon," Sangyeon explained as he carried the plates to the kitchen, his body in the glass doorway. He nodded to his son to follow him, and he obeyed, a sad pout decorating his lips. "Honey, I'll come and play with you after I put Youngjae to bed for a nap, okay?" Sorrow left your son's eyes almost immediately, beaming as he heard his father call him from the kitchen. "Come on, go help Daddy with the dishes. Mommy promises to take care of you as soon as possible," he trotted back to your chair and pressed his lips on your cheek in a slobbery kiss before running to the kitchen.
You chuckled through your nose when you heard Sangyeon scold him for running around barefoot before shifting your attention back to your son, who was looking at you with a lot of admiration in the eyes. Giving him a lovely smile, your thumb came to caress his cheek again, a wave of relief flooding your chest as he finally let go of your breast. After you burped him, you were about to go upstairs to change his diapers, but Sangyeon emerged from the kitchen right at the same time, smiling at the sight of you cradling your son on your shoulder.
"It's okay, I'll take care of it," he winked at you before taking his son from your arms and kissing him on the forehead, Hyungseo walking up to you to hug you, his little arms struggling to wrap themselves around your thighs. "Come on, Hyungseo, let's brush our teeth and then we'll play, okay?" He nodded, still leaning against you, and you took his hand, leading him to the second floor, following the same path your husband had taken a few seconds ago.
Being the big boy he wanted to be and in a hurry to get back to playing with his foam ball, your oldest awkwardly brushed his teeth on his own, putting toothpaste all over his face and fingers. You lowered yourself to his level and showed him the right movements he needed to do to brush his teeth properly. Sangyeon was in the corner of the room, a smile on his lips as he changed your son's diapers, moved by the attention you paid to your children's education. He gently wiped Youngjae clean and tickled his belly once he was done clipping the press studs of his bodysuit, your son immediately giggling at his father.
"Everything's good, you can go back to play, but don't run down the stairs," you ruffled your son's hair with a tender hand, Hyungseo dashing outside the bathroom. You were about to raise your voice, but you listened to him go down the stairs one by one with a content smile, satisfied that he obeyed you. "Thank you," you mumbled, wanting to take your son off the baby-changing table, but Sangyeon was quicker.
"You already carry him all day, let me relieved your back and take care of him," you rested his head on his shoulder as he hugged your son, feeling a hand cling to your cheek, making you laugh as Youngjae also wanted to participate in this moment of tenderness. "Come on, let's go downstairs before our other one gets all jealous," you chuckled before kissing your son then husband, letting him grab some sunglasses and a little hat for your son.
Grazing the railing with your fingertips, you sighed with ease, feeling loved and cared for by the three men who lived in your house. You used to have many doubts and insecurities about motherhood, but your husband's help and support had erased them all. You were happy to be a mom, and nothing could change that.

Title: Go To Bed
Chapter:  1/1 (can be considered a follow up to Goodest Boy or a standalone. You don’t need to read Goodest Boy to understand what’s going on.)
Summary: He’s just one giant toddler when he’s been drinking
Rating: T
Warnings: Alcohol consumption. Drunk Henry. My botched attempt at a drunken British accent.
In retrospect, staying with Henry at the same time that a 'very important rugby match' was on TV, may have been a bad idea. Don't get me wrong, everyone was super polite. They were also super loud. And as the night wore on, they became super drunk. Add to that the fact that I know nothing about rugby and I wasn't having the best of times. I definitely should have tried to reschedule my visit for the next time I would be back in London. It was only a few weeks away, rugby season would be over by then, right? Did rugby have a season, or was it an all the time thing?
I could probably ask him that when he was sober. As for right now, he was several rounds deep, and probably wouldn't understand the question if I did ask. If he could even hear me. How are they all so loud? Which team was I supposed to be rooting for again? They are all probably drunk enough to not notice me leave right now. I could just walk right out of this madness and curl up all cozy with a book.
My plan went off without a hitch, easily detangling myself from the pile of dudes drunkenly fixated on the TV and walking straight out and up to the guest room. I should probably lock the door in case Henry forgets I'm here and offers the room to one of his pals. The last thing I want to deal with is a drunken stranger in my room in the middle of the night.
The door muffled their boisterous laughter and cheering well enough. I could still hear them, but I was able to concentrate on my book. I fully drowned out the noise as I immersed myself into my favorite fantasy realm for what had to be the tenth time. Once my eyes grew too heavy to force open anymore, I marked my page and clicked off the bedside lamp, snuggling down into the bed for a good night's sleep. I had the suspicion I was going to be the one making breakfast tomorrow.
What was that sound? It sounds like scratching. Is Henry's house haunted? I really needed to check if people's homes were haunted before staying with them for any length of time. When I heard it again, it was accompanied by a whimpering sound, followed by a booming bark. Good news, it was just a bear scratching at my door, not a demon! Henry probably forgot to let him out again before he went to bed.
"Shh, buddy, Henry's probably getting some much needed sleep right now." I soothed as I opened the door. Kal hopped down the hallway, whimpering and tapping his feet when I didn't follow right away. Poor boy must really have to go. "Alright, come on. Let's get you settled for the night." I sighed, following after him.
I was more than a little confused when Kal led me to the kitchen instead of the backdoor. Did Henry not give him dinner? No, he fed him before everyone came over. Was that little piggy trying for another dinner?
"Kaaaaal!" I heard a familiar voice drag out, followed by what could only be described as giggling. "Kal, ca' you ope' the pea'butter?" I cautiously peered around the island, groaning when I saw Henry sprawled out on his back, attempting to open the bottom of a jar of peanut butter. He must really be out of it.
"Henry." I called, slowly stepping closer to him.
"Abi!" He cheered, lifting his head to look at me, a goofy smile plastered on his face.
"Is there a reason you're laying on the kitchen floor?"
"I... I drop it." Henry explained, holding the jar up, only for it to tumble out of his hands once more, bouncing off his stomach. "Ouch. Not nice."
"Can you stand up? You'd sleep a lot better if you went to bed." I explained, offering him my hand to help him up.
"M' fine." Henry scoffed, abruptly popping himself up into a sitting position. He blinked rapidly a few times, trying to regain his equilibrium before turning his head to look at me. "Abi!" He cheered again, throwing his arms around me locking me in a bear hug, his face buried in my stomach. "You' so nice." He mumbled, his voice muffled by my shirt.
"Ok, save the snuggles for when you're in bed." I sighed, wiggling my way out of his grasp.
"You stay wit' me?" He gasped excitedly, scrambling to his feet and accidentally tackling me when he tried to me hug again, somehow managing to twist us so he took the brunt of the fall. "I... 'm sorry." He mumbled after a second, popping his head up to look at me, still clutched to his chest like a child with a teddy bear.
"Come on, you need to get to bed. No more tackling." I attempted again, slipping free again and stepping back as my gigantic host rose to his feet. It was times like this, when he was unsteady and unaware of his sheer mass, that I am reminded of exactly large he is. He typically carries himself very well, he is gentle in spite of his strength. When he's drunk, he's a bull in a china shop.
"m snack." He whined, looking dejectedly at the still un opened jar of peanut butter on the floor.
"Sorry buddy, I talked with sober Henry and he told me he has a strict rule about peanut butter in the bed."
"He sound' like a... stupid." Henry mumbled, leaning against the island and rubbing at his eyes.
"Now come on, big guy. Bed time." I repeated, gently turning his shoulders toward the hall and giving him a small push in the correct direction.
"'s your bed time." He grumbled, taking unsteady steps to the hallway, pausing when he reached the archway, leaning on it and looking back at me again. "You' go ta bed."
"After I make sure you're safe for the night." I compromised, shooing him down the hall again.
"I can... I can take care 'o m'self." He scoffed, pinballing his way down the hall to the stairs. "See? You' bein' dramatic." He yawned, plopping down on the third stair and leaning back against the rest them.
"And you are trying to take a nap on a staircase."
"No 'm not."
"Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill, get your ass up those stairs and go to bed, right now!"
"Tha'... tha's kinda hot." Henry chuckled, his eyes popping open to look at me again. "You bein' bossy. So lil' and bein' bossy." He continued rambling as he crawled his way up the stairs, giggling to himself the entire time. "Call' m' by m' full name an' ever'thin'."
"Keep it moving." I sighed, grabbing onto his hips to steady him when he stood himself back up to weave his way down the hall, finally shoving the giant onto his bed, relief washing over me when he landed face down, bouncing safely on the mattress. "I'll get you some water and a painkiller. Don't move." Henry groaned and shot me a thumbs up from his face down position, finally turning his head so he could breathe.
I was halfway back up the steps, Kal dutifully following me when I heard a loud thud from upstairs. Of course that stubborn man wouldn't listen when I told him to stay put. I rushed the rest of the way back to his room, rolling my eyes when I found him sitting on the floor, trying to wrestle his shirt over his head.
"Help." He whined, pausing in his struggle when he took notice of me and his canine companion standing in the doorway. Kal only huffed at his human, trotting over to his bed and curling up for the night, content his job was done.
"I thought I told you to stay still." I chastised, setting the glass of water and pill bottle down before helping him out of his shirt.
"I gotta take a piss." He grouched, pushing himself up on unsteady legs and stumbling off to the bathroom.
"I am not cleaning your bathroom if you pee on everything!" I called after him, my shoulders slumping when I heard him start swearing from the bathroom. "You just peed on everything, didn't you?"
"No! Fuckin' zipper!" He yelled back. "AH HA! I got it! Hey... Hey, Abi, I got it." He called triumphantly.
"Thank God." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. I was getting a headache of my own from dealing with this over grown toddler. "And make sure you leave your underwear on!"
"'S on!" He grouched, shuffling back in just his underwear, sending me a dopey grin. "Abi!"
"Yes, Henry. I'm still here."
"Oh 'm glad 's you." He laughed, wrapping me in his arms and leaning his weight on me. "You... you're th' bes'."
"And you are drunk." I reminded him, shuffling us around to sit him on the edge of the bed.
"So pretty." He sighed, snatching me up again and burying his face in my chest. "Mrr mmeee."
"I'm sorry, Henry, I can't hear you."
"I said marry me!" Henry repeated, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he looked up at me. "It'll be great!"
"Now I know you're trashed." I laughed, pushing his forehead until he fell back on the mattress.
"Noooo." He whined reaching for me again, though I was sure to stay out of his reach this time.
"You don't know what you're saying, Henry." I soothed, grabbing his long, muscular legs and heaving them up onto the bed.
"Yeah I do." He pouted, his hazy eyes locking on me again. "You're th' bes'. You... You're always there 'f me. Gon' marry you."
"Ok, big guy." I sighed, throwing the blankets over him.
"Stay." His voice was so quiet I wasn't sure I heard him at first, but then I heard him wiggling around in the bed before speaking again. "Plea' stay?"
"Henry, you're drunk. I don't think that's a good idea."
"Pleeeeease?" He whined, pouting back at me. "I wan' make sure you don' run 'way 'morrow."
"I won't go anywhere, Hank. Get some sleep, I'll check on you in the morning."
To say I was surprised to find Henry not only walking around the next day, but bringing me a cup of coffee before I even woke up, would be an understatement. He looked freshly showered, he had dressed himself and judging from the smell wafting through the house, he even cooked something. He really was Superman.
"Morning, Abi." He greeted, shooting me that obnoxiously handsome grin.
"Morning, Henry." I yawned, sitting up and rubbing at my eyes. "Feeling better?"
"Yes, I'm doing much better now. Thank you for helping me last night."
"I'm shocked you're doing so good."
"Well, it is almost three in the afternoon." Henry chuckled, shaking his head at my panicked look.
"Why did you let me sleep so long?!" I gasped, scrambling out of the bed like it burned me.
"I'm pretty sure I kept you up a fair bit last night. It's all a bit fuzzy, honestly, but I thought you earned a bit of a lay in."
"How much do you remember about last night?"
"Not much. I remember wanting peanut butter and you yelling at me, but not much else."
"So you don't remember asking me to marry you?" I teased, laughing when all the color drained from his face. "You know, if you wanted to be more than friends, all you had to do was ask."

Wife’s Touch Part 2 - Male!Eivor x Reader
PART I
I actually really liked the first part... and I guess some people liked it too... I mean it actually got some notes
So! I sat and even when no one asked wrote part two
BIG AND AMAZING THANKS TO MY ONE AND ONLY @arthurbristow FOR CHECKING THIS MESS :3 LOVE YA!
Tumblr media
It again pokes the main story SO BE WARNED! Just in case if someone didn’t finish the story yet.
Since Sigurd returned home, things changed. He changed. The good Jarl that loved his people dearly changed into a harsh leader.
It was hard to spot him outside his room like before, most of the time he spent away from everyone.
No one could blame him for this. Everyone heard that happen to him. They heard Eivor's story and the missing arm was a harsh reminder of the hard time Sigurd had been through.
Despite all this, people did their best to live their daily lives.
———————————————————————
You sat right outside the long house, enjoying the warm sun on your skin. This was what you needed, your body started to change and it needed rest.
Suddenly, there was a kiss placed on your forehead. Opening your eyes you saw a familiar person. Person you were bonded with in front of the Gods, many winters back.
"Enjoying the weather, I see. How do you feel my love?," Eivor asked, kneeling in front of you to place a kiss on your now bigger belly.
This was why you loved Eivor. Eivor was a ferocious warrior, strong and dangerous. He could split a man in half with one swing of his axe, he killed the whole army barehanded yet his soul was gentle and poet-like. Your husband was easily changing from warrior into loving man.
Your hand moved into his nicely done hair, of course they were nice. You made those braids yourself this morning. "I do enjoy the weather, love. I cannot spend whole days in our room. As much as I love our bed, staying there for too long can get boring."
"You never were the one to sit in place for too long. I remember when we were young, you were running around like a snow hare. It's even harder to forget what was happening once you started to wield the sword and shield," Eivor chuckled and placed one more kiss on your tummy before getting up to sit next to you.
You giggled as your thoughts returned to the times of childhood and the time when King Styrbjorn brought young Eivor to the settlement, announcing that the boy is now his son.
Your mother explained to you what happened and it became your goal to befriend that boy and make him smile again. You two became friends and then warriors, fighting, hand in hand. Later stuff went in an even better direction.
Your state was the proof of it.
"I know and I don't regret the past nor the present. I am more than happy to be by your side and carry your child."
Your husband gave you a smile and leaned in to place a kiss on your lips, which you gladly accepted.
The sweet moment was interrupted by someone clearing his throat.
It was Sigurd, of course he wanted something from his brother. "As much as I don't want to deprive a wife of her husband, I need to talk with Eivor."
You didn't want to let him go, not yet but there was no other choice.
Sigurd knew you for years, you were friends for years but in his current state you didn't want to unnecessarily get under his skin.
"Very well, I think the little one demands a nap. I'll see you soon,” you kissed Eivor's cheek before going back to the longhouse
———————————————————————
You used to be a warrior or just a useful person that liked to help around but since the pregnancy started you slept a lot. Thankfully now Eivor was in settlement on daily bases which made your sleep much calmer.
Your nap again took a few hours out of your life. You woke up to the pair of yellow eyes, watching you.
Of course the wolf was here. Giggling, you sat up and scratched Chewy behind his ears. "Aren't you a great companion?"
After some cuddles with the wolf you got up from bed and walked out of the room. You noticed Eivor standing over the map and talking to Randvi.
Walking closer you could hear their talk.
"It may be time to return to Norway. Sigurd is eager to see his father and... and beyond that, I do not know," Eivor said as he looked at the map.
"I have heard ill news about Styrbjorn in the past year. If you go, go with care," Randvi said.
You watched him nod and pierce the map with the dagger.
"We will leave now. And return as soon as we're able."
Those words made you freeze.
He wanted to go NOW? Back to Norway?! It was to travel for many days and gods know how long they will be there then they need to come back. You didn't want him to leave, you didn't want to be away from him.
Sigurd was mad and he followed him, what if they won't come back this time?
"Eivor...," Your voice already cracked.
He looked at you with those beautiful blue eyes and sighed.
Eivor didn't expect you to hear the talk, he wanted to go to you and explain it himself but here you were.
Your fragile figure shaking a little from the sudden wave or fear, eyes getting more and more shiny.
"My love...," He said quietly, moving closer to wrap his arms around you.
"I am sorry for leaving in such a rush. I wanted to tell you as soon as I was done talking to Randvi."
You nodded and nuzzled him, whimpering quietly.
"Why do you need to leave? I don't want you to go... Please stay with us,"
Honestly you had no idea where those feelings came from.
"Y/N. Listen to me," Eivor said quietly and pressed his forehead to yours.
"Whatever Sigurd is planning, I need to make sure my brother is safe. We will come back as soon as possible. I promise you that."
You looked at him, biting your lips. Of course he would follow Sigurd just... Why now? He was going mad and Eivor still went after him. You always thought that the bond between them was wonderful but this was too much.
"Eivor... I..."
"I know what you are thinking but you know you can trust me. Whatever he wants to do, I will make sure we are both safe," Eivor whispered, gently touching your cheek with his rough fingers.
Closing your eyes you took a deep breath, simply enjoying the touch and closeness.
After your nerves calmed down you opened your eyes and nodded with a soft smile.
"I trust you, Eivor."
"I swear on my honor. I will return to both of you, alive and well," He promised, touching your belly.
"Try not to... And I will pull you out from Valhalla myself," You muttered and Evior chuckled before pulling you into a slow kiss.
You returned the kiss, grabbing the hem of his cloak.
Soon he pulled away to place another kiss on your forehead. "Randvi will keep an eye on you."
"Of course I will. Everyone will. She will be safe Eivor," Randvi nodded, walking closer to the two of you.
"Travel safe and keep each other safe, Eivor. We will be waiting," She said, wrapping arms around your shoulders.
You smiled at Eivor and nodded.
"I will pray to Gods for a safe return. For both, you and Sigurd."
Eivor and you shared the last good bye and he left.
It still felt wrong, you wanted to have him close but you also couldn't keep him in one place for too long.
———————————————————————
Days had passed. Every day was almost the same.
You woke up with white beast in your bed, you prayed, you helped Randvi or anyone who needed help, you prayed, you waited in the docks and then ate and went to sleep.
Every day was full of unshown fear.
All you wanted was to get your husband back with you.
Your every moment was filled with quiet prayer. No matter what you were doing, the prayer was stuck in your head. "Please bring my husband and his brother back safely."
———————————————————————
One evening you decided to visit dear Valka and help her a little. Whatever could keep you busy was just perfect.
Valka smiled as soon as she saw you walking into her hut. "Y/N, how are you? And the little one?"
You returned the smile and nodded, touching your belly. "Everything is fine so far."
"I can feel you are worried. Scared even," She hummed.
You chuckled. Of course she would know, despite your smiles. It was Valka after all. Suddenly you were hugged.
"You don't need to worry. Eivor will come back to you. The night will be filled with happiness. Now come, I could use another pair of hands."
It was a mystery what she meant. She often liked to speak in riddles and you already got used to it.
The work Valka gave you was really easy. Nothing more than just organizing and preparing some of the herbs she collected during the day.
It was relaxing and the nice smell of plants smoothed your nerves.
"Y/N! Y/N! They are back!" Tove said happily as she walked inside the hut all excited.
You gasped and quickly went to the longhouse when Tove went to inform others.
The building was empty and quiet, illuminated by many torches but he was there.
Eivor stood there with Sigurd, he looked just as proud as always.
You thanked all the gods that both returned home happily.
"Eivor!,” You said happily and your feet immediately carried you to your husband.
"My love,” Eivor smiled and wrapped you in a hug as tight as possible of course without hurting you or the little one.
You nuzzled him and just then heard him hiss and groan. Pulling away you noticed some of the blood coating his tunic.
"It's alright my dear. It's nothing serious, we can take care of this later," he said as if he was hearing your thoughts.
Looking around he frowned. "We missed a great feast, it seems."
Then you realized your husband was right.
All the tables looked as if they were right after the feast or prepared for it to start. This was odd, since you did not recall any feast planned for tonight.
"Eivor..." Sigurd said getting your and Eivor's attention.
The older brother gestured to the throne. "Sit a moment... and rest."
"Sigurd." Eivor was unsure of it all. This wasn't his place, he wasn't much of a ruler.
"Go on, love," you said quietly and gently touched his shoulder, trying to encourage him.
Hesitantly Eivor walked to the throne and slowly took a seat on it, getting comfortable in the seat. He looked at his older brother who gave him an approving nod.
You couldn't stop looking at him.
Eivor looked so proud, perfect in this place. Even if he was always saying that he isn't a leader, you simply knew he was made for this. He will be a great jarl.
Randvi joined the three of you and after a brief talk about men's travel Tove brought everyone in.
"Eivor returned! Inside, at the hearth! Come!"
Sigurd decided to walk away and sit down at one of the tables
Few of the people carried torches, adding more light in the long house.
Giving Eivor a sweet smile you stepped aside to let Randvi speak.
"Eivor? Randvi? What is this? Is everything all right?,” Gudmund asked.
Randvi shook her and looked at Wolf Kissed over her shoulder.
"Our Jarl has returned... to lead us forward into an uncertain future. Will you speak to your people?"
Eivor looked at you for any kind of help. He looked nervous, not sure of it all.
You just gave him a sweet smile, assuring him that he can do it. After all, your husband did harder things than that.
"For love and joy, words can jade. Our souls must sound in a heartful song. And when... no, no," shaking his head he got up from the throne and walked closer to all the people he called friends.
"You are less mine than I am yours. And I ask of you only this, keep me honest in the times to come."
The Long House was quiet.
People looked at Eivor and each other.
The sudden change of Jarl was for sure a big surprise for everyone but it for sure wasn't unwelcomed.
Bragi broke the silien with a song and soon everyone joined, so did you.
In just a few minutes this special moment changed into a big feast.
Feast filled with family, friends, joy and singing.
It was hard to remember the last time that the whole settlement was so full of happiness.
Such moments were rare but they were honest, this was the most important.
———————————————————————
You and Eivor returned to your shared bedroom really late at night. Other people stayed up to have more fun but you needed your sleep and Eivor was happy to follow you.
"You didn't tell me about the wound," You frowned, noticing the wound on his belly.
Eivor looked down on the said wound; the souvenir of the fight with Basim.
He nodded and gave you a little smile.
"I did not because there was no need to worry you. This wound is shallow."
Letting out annoyed sighs, you nodded as he sat down on the bed. You immediately moved to sit right behind him.
Your hands moved into his hair, loosening the braids and combing through Eivor's beautiful blond hair with your fingers.
Your husband hummed and quickly relaxed thanks to your touch. It was nice to feel a familiar touch after weeks of fighting.
You worked until his hair were completely loose and than you placed a gently kiss on the scare on the right side of his nape
"My beloved husband."
Eivor smiled and then turned around to lie down with you right by his side.
Watching you he smiled.
"My beautiful wife who is carrying our child. I can't wait for the little one to be here. I hope your days were calm when I wasn't here."
"Yes, the little one was really calm," You chuckled, touching your belly. "I was the worried one."
He nodded and took the big fur to cover both of you. Once this was done Eivor pressed his forehead to your and closed his eyes, you did the same.
"Rest now. No need to worry any longer. I am here and I will protect both of you."
You smiled a little and nuzzled him. He was back home, this was what you both needed. Soon both of you fell asleep.
———————————————————————
Morning was something you loved the most most. Getting ready for the day was always fun.
"You know. Since you are our Jarl now. I think I will braid your hair differently. Something that speaks; Leader," You hummed, looking at Eivor's hair.
He laughed warmly and nodded. "Very well, I put myself and my hair at your mercy, wife."
"Oh don't worry, you will look beautiful as always. I will make sure of it."
Braiding Eivor's hair took you longer than you expected but you were really proud with your hand work.
He looked more handsome than ever, honestly you were surprised that it's even possible.
The two of you walked out of the room, holding hands.
You noticed Eivor frowning a little more than you noticed what he saw.
His brother stood next to the entrance to a map room, his arms crossed over his chest. Sugurd didn't look happy, he looked concerned.
"Sigurd...," Eivor asked, moving closer to his brother gently pulling you behind himself.
"Eivor. Before you say more, I must tell you something. Randvi and I have... Have ended our marriage," He said slowly.
You gasped quietly a bit shocked but on the other hand you understand it.
Everyone knew their marriage was the complete opposite of yours and Eivor's.
Yours came out of love when there was an arrangement.
"I am sorry to hear that," Eivor said softly.
You wanted to add something but Sigurd was quicker than you.
"Ah, do not be. Both of you. We adore one another dearly, but our marriage was not built on love. We were brought together as an act of peace. I was pledged to her well before I knew her. And though we have tried to settle our differences and find love in our faults..." He shook his head. "It has not worked out. And so we have dissolved our bond. Yet as a clan, we will grew together."
"Then I'm glad for you both. And for the rest of us. This place would not be the same without you two," Eivor agreed, nodding.
You also nodded eagerly. "That is the truth, Sigurd. Our settlement would feel empty without both of you."
Sigurd smiled at you. "Y/N. My dear sister in law, I owe you an apology. I haven't been too kind to you lately, it was all because of my clouded mind," he placed hand on your belly.
"Please, forgive me for this behaviour. I can't tell you how happy and thankful I am for everything you do for my brother. I hope your child will be as strong as he is and as beautiful as you are."
You giggled and nodded. "Thank you Sigurd and really. It was nothing, I understood everything."
Man nodded his head and pointed at Eivor.
"And you, little brother. Keep her safe and close, if you ever let her go or hurt her... I will kick your ass." Eivor laughed loudly and nodded. "I promise on my honor and life and all the gods."
You smiled and squeezed his hand. "Oh I know it all, I don't need to promise anything my love."
After this little talk, Sigurd walked away.
You and Eivor decided to go for a walk, just to enjoy each other. You could already tell that better times were here and you couldn't wait for more.

Dragging a suitcase full of clothes can be very exhausting when you are not allowed to do magic. While you could theoretically obliviate all the muggles that happen to see you two, it would be a waste of time. You and the oh-so-famous Harry James Potter were placed together for this mission by the Ministry of Magic, and so far it has been going great. If not talking to each other unless you had to is considered great.
You had expected him to be cockier and pretend to know everything. It’s what the Daily Prophet says anyway. But he has been very silent around you and even though you would never admit this to anyone, especially to him, you have been wondering if he is like this with everybody or if this is about you.
You were supposed to pretend to be a muggle couple who goes on vacation while investigating the activities of some suspicious wizards. Those wizards and witches you were assigned to keep an eye on live somewhere in the countryside of Scotland. No train and no bus could take you this far.
You were currently on a deserted road with Potter on your right checking a map as you did your best to not kick the suitcase that contained both of your clothes out of annoyance. You hated having agreed to take turns with it but at this point, you wanted to give up.
It has been an hour since you last turned left on this road. There was a village somewhere ahead but it seems so far away you might as well just sleep right here. Stargazing with Harry Potter did not sound like a bad story to tell your friends later, but you had to remind yourself how awkward that would turn soon as he refuses to talk to you at all.
“We should be there in about half an hour,” he said suddenly. Oh, so now he talked, good to know.
“Okay,” you sighed.
“What?” he looked up from the map in his hands to face you.
“I don’t even know
Can’t we take a break? We’ll get there eventually.”
“No, y/n. There is a perfect timing at which we have to be at the hotel. We have to arrive at the same time as the group. Is something you would have known if you actually read the instructions we were given before this trip,” he furrowed his brows and said with exasperation latched in his voice.
“You think you’re the only one who cares about this mission? Not everything is about you, Potter,” you said with a cold voice. Maybe he hasn’t been talking to you not because he doesn’t like you personally, which you would totally not even care about, never, but because he was too obsessed with himself to acknowledge anyone else.
“I never said everything is about me!” Harry shouted back at you. “I don’t even want it to be. But I do want this mission to go well, specifically.”
“Why?” you let the suitcase fall on the ground completely moved closer to him.
Potter looked over your head at the road, avoiding eye contact. “It doesn’t matter,” he said and he hated it because his voice sounded a bit unsure. “It doesn’t matter” he repeated.
You rolled your eyes and took a step even closer. “Then why do you care? I bet you didn’t even want to be placed with me, did you?” you shouted back with pain. “You think I’ll screw this up for you, don’t you, Potter?”
“No, y/n, God, just shut up!” he grabbed your arm and pulled you off the road. You were both so concentrated on getting the stress of the trip out on the other that you didn’t even hear a car coming down the street. Its speed slowed down as it approached you and the driver rolled down the window.
The man inside looked you up and down and then stuck out his hand. “Ben Nelson.” he introduced himself.
Potter shook his hand and gave him a small and awkward smile. “Harry Campbell,” he said. He nodded his head in your direction and added shortly “And y/n Campbell.”
The driver laughed stiffly and raised his eyebrows. “And what might you kids be doing here alone?”
“We were just trying to get to the village, not too far away from here,” Potter told him.
“Ah, that’s where I’m heading
 yeah
well, come on, do you want me to help you put that trunk of yours in the back?” the man chuckled.
“What?” you asked, confused.
“Yeah, I’m taking you there, come on.” he took his seatbelt off, but Harry held his hand up.
“Thank you, sir. We can put the suitcase ourselves.”
“Okay, but hurry up you. I don’t have all the time in the world like you young ones.”
Potter smirked at you, and you tried to hide the way you blushed by bringing your hands up to your hair to tie it back before dragging the suitcase once more and closing the trunk loudly. You and Potter got in the backseat together, just to make it clear that you were a couple, you thought; he probably wouldn’t sit next to you otherwise.
“You two have been together for long?” Nelson asks.
You are still very mad at your partner, but you have to put on an act. You are not y/n y/ln anymore. Now you are y/n Campbell. “One year,” you falsely giggle. “But it has been the best year of my life” you put your arm on Potter’s thigh, and you could swear he stopped breathing for a second.
“My wife and I have been together for 30 years. Met her when I was young like you
 Good times, good times.”
You got to the hotel way faster than you had assumed at first, making your argument from earlier look stupid now. You didn’t apologize though, and neither did he. As you entered the hotel you left Potter in the hall with the suitcase and handed him your ugly muggle coat (you missed your soft travel robes a lot) and headed to a toilet.
After fixing yourself in the mirror, trying to delay having to talk to him again, you finally exited the restroom and looked for him in the cold entrance hallway. There he was in a corner, with your coat over his shoulder and his arms crossed, making you wonder how even women’s clothing looked this good on him. He had a frustrated expression on his face as if something was bothering him a great deal.
“Where are my clothes?” you asked.
“Our clothes are in room 19. A kind person offered to take them there for us while I waited for you. Let’s go.” It didn’t make sense. What was his problem now? You arrived early; everything went as planned.
He walked in front of you through the large lobby of the hotel to the stairs like he knew the way already. The woman must have shown him where the room is. He didn’t stop until you reached the second floor. There were many tall brown doors down the hall but you kept passing them. The numbers on the wall next to them kept increasing until, at last, there was 19.
Potter reached in the pocket of his pants for a small golden key to open the door. Inside it smelled like old wood and fresh air. It was truly a beautiful room that reminded you a bit of your own at home. Everything had a nostalgic feeling to it that made you feel welcome. But there was one small thing you didn’t realize at first. One small problem.
There was only one bed.
A big bed with white sheets stood in the corner with your suitcase underneath. Your tired feet begged you to jump on it and immediately fall asleep, but your brain would not let you. Because Potter must have wanted to do the same, but none of you moved.
“I will sleep on the floor,” you said quickly.
“No, it’s okay. I’ll do it. You have to rest.”
“Listen, Potter, I know you want to be a gentleman for once, but I’m not that tired.” Lie. “You can take the bed."
“But you carried the suitcase; you deserve this more” he scratched the back of his head. Did he believe you to be weak?
“I will sleep on the floor” you hissed and walked over to the bed to take one of the pillows.
The watch on your hand told you it was 1 am when you woke up on the hard wooden floor. Your back and feet hurt like crazy and you regretted being the brave one more and more. All you wanted now was to lay on the soft bed next to Potter. His breathing was even as his chest rose and fell back slowly. His hair was messy, his lips parted as he slept. He looked peaceful like this, almost like someone you could suffer being around.
You didn’t bother to turn on the lights as you crossed the room to the bathroom. The moonlight which came through the window was enough to guide you.
You tried falling back asleep after, but woke up disappointed at 3 am again. You searched your entire memory for any Sleeping Spell but you couldn’t remember any. Perhaps Potter would not even know what had happened to you next morning when he couldn’t wake you up and worry.
You did not want him to be worried, ever, so you stopped trying. You sighed and looked over to the comfortable bed once again. He was still in the same position. Nothing was bothering his perfect sleep.
He would not mind, after all, would he? If you just got 3 hours of actual sleep and then moved back on the floor in the morning? He would not notice your presence. He did want you to take the bed, so why not do it?
You hugged your pillow close to your chest and watched him in case he woke up as you made your way next to him. Doing your best not to touch him you stood as far as possible on the bed. He rolled over and you could not tell if he was awake for his face was turned to the wall. Anxiety was flowing through your veins but only for a moment. Who cares if he woke up? He would say something if it really bothered him.
You fell asleep quite instantly. Even though it was more like a short nap it was the best sleep you had ever had in your life. So warm and comfortable. It was a refreshing dreamless night. You yawned softly before opening your eyes and you wanted to stretch your arms, but you found that you couldn’t. Something was restraining you.
And then you realized that it was a bit too sunny inside the room for it to only be 6 am as you had planned.
You opened your eyes slowly only to be met with Potter’s face very close to yours. His eyes were still closed and he looked very content with the position you two were in: cuddling with his hands around your waist and your head previously on his shoulder. You found yourself not wanting to move or disrupt him. You wanted to stay there forever. He was more than just sufferable like this.
But you did not want him to know about this, that is, if he still didn’t. So you attempted to get off the bed. It was almost painful, leaving him and the bed, but you had to get ready for the first part of the mission today. He smiled in his sleep as you sighed, wondering what he could have been dreaming about that made him happy.
He woke up 15 minutes later when you were already dressed. You made sure to return your pillow to the cold floor and hoped he didn’t realize what happened during the night. With the wands hidden in both of your coats you made your way to a cafe in the village for breakfast, where, according to the instructions from the Ministry, you should observe the group of wizards from afar.

100 Years of Age
Logan x Reader (Oneshot)
A/n : I’ve recently have had an OBSESSION with Logan from the X-men franchise. Thus, this short fanfic. Usually my fanfics would end in a little spice (kiss, smut...etc.) but this time it’ll be a fluff ending. Please bare with me, this is my first fluff story so if it sucks that's the reason. Also, sorry if the title doesn’t really make sense. I tried to make it nostalgic in a way. Enjoy my lovely’s <3 Masterlist Mega List
“How could you?” Hot tears glided down your face. “How could you!?” There your parents stood before you as you got yanked away in chains. “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!?!” Your last words as the truck doors closed. You were being taken and it was all their fault. Full on balling on the truck floor, the soldiers watched. A 14- year old getting taken away with their parents consent...that’s got to be a first.
The truck was a one-way ticket to hell but how could you have known? They gave you away to some unknown cause to save their own asses. You spent years there, being tested on.
“She has the right DNA. We’ll be one step closer to evolution.”
The first few months were horrible. Being tested on for the Elemental Project, being alone in a foreign area, resenting your parents and being a child in all. On a certain dreadful day, an experiment worked on you. That day was your 15th birthday. They did four major experiments and preps over and over and over again. At this point, you weren’t upset anymore. Your parents are living their lives now. They may or may not be regretting their decision but its out of your hands. You’ve come to terms with this, after months of denying it.
“how are you feeling?” She quietly walks into your cell, trying not to disturb you as you were watching tv. You were sitting against the wall, hands in your lap as your eyes staying glued to the tv. “fine.” Your voice strained and quiet. She hums to your word. You’ve become a woman of little words, only speaking when comfortable and necessary. This woman was nice to you. You welcomed her into your small bubble...sometimes.
She placed a glass of water in front of you, without looking the water arose out the glass and separated itself into these words. “Today is my 15th birthday.” They subsided back into the glass, which you proceeded to pick up and drink out of. She and others were amazed, astonished. This isn’t the end. They still had much to do. You may not have mastered the first element but you’ve grasped it and that’s all they needed to know, before starting the next tests.
The tests were excruciating and brutal. The elements were manifesting backwards. Water, Earth, Air and Fire. Each element took an amount of lives. They told you to control it...they told you to fix yourself. But you could not. You did not control the elements. They only took a liking to you and allowed you to have them, nothing more nothing less.
But they don’t understand, their thoughts clouded by war and hate. You got put into war before as a ‘learning activity’. Yes. A fantastic idea to put a 20-year old in The American Civil War.
You were cold. Very cold. They made you clothes to fit the elements but the clothes were not very war worthy attire. “She’ll burn her clothes off, if she wears that.” The woman says to the general in charge. “I better see something, Ms. Bailey.” The general says before glancing at you then taking his leave. She turns to you with a little smile. “Be mindful of people around you.” You nod your head to her. You weren’t scared given you were put into a war. You were just..just...you didn’t know. You didn’t know what the feeling was called but you were feeling it.
“Bring her here!” Ms. Bailey and you follow the soldier. “You can’t come on the field.” He stated to her. She gave you one final look before turning away. He motioned you to follow. The sounds of gun shots flooded your ears and the smell of gun powder filled your nose. “Stay close.” He said, not ever laying a finger on you. It was almost nightfall, they knew this’ll be the best time for you to come out. You stayed with him and two other men.
They were conversing a few feet away, also keeping an eye on you. A young boy was coughing, around the age of 16. You crouched in front of him and rested a hand on his shoulder. Doing a faint hand motion you cleared the air he was breathing. “T-thank you.” You smiled to him but the smile faded as the soldier called out to you. “Come, we’ve got the ‘go’ from the general.” The field was painted in blood and bodies.
“Can’t handle it?” One of the other soldiers teased. You scoffed at him, the sound barely being audible. “We need you to take an enemy and bring them back here.” The soldier says to you, motioning the two men not to follow you out. You sighed and nodded at him. Walking to the middle of the battlefield, you dipped down to the ground. Your fingertips lightly touching it. “I will not control you.” The ground began to rumble as big chunks of dirt and rock get pulled out. Carefully, you aimed each one at their big guns and incoming soldiers.
With ease you walked to their men. Their guns were inefficient, due to you setting the gun powder in the guns ablaze. Finally, you found someone that looked like they knew a lot, motioning your hand to the sky. Particles of water parted from the clouds and engulfed the victims body, knocking them out momentarily and carrying them with you. You quickly got escorted back to the base.
“Great, we have the enemy. HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET INFORMATION FROM A DEAD MAN!?!” You flinched at the yelling general. There the man laid on a nursing bed, dripping wet. A gust of wind passes by to dry him then you put your hand over his mouth. Taking the liquid out his lungs. An array of coughs alerted one of the nurses. “alive.” You spoke, looking the general in the eyes. Ms. Bailey took you to the tent for a rest. “You did good today.” She smiled handing you sleeping clothes. You took the clothes and changed, now sitting on the floor, no movement what so ever.
You often did this when the elements were uneasy and they were always uneasy. “Sorry, no visitors.” You look over your shoulder and see one of the men you were on the field with. Getting to your feet, you walk and stand next to Bailey. She nods to you and walks further into the tent, keeping a watchful eye. “Hi, I’m Logan.” He sticks a hand out for you to shake. You hide your hands behind your back, denying his request. He retracts his hand at your reaction. “y/n” You whisper to him. “Okay, that’s all, she needs to rest.” Bailey closes the tent as you wave goodbye to him.
Those memories became distant, vivid as you went back to the dreadful place. Time passed very slowly there. You never knew why but it did and it was awful. “This is ground breaking! Absolutely ground breaking! Now that we’ve got her to adapt to all the elements we’ll be able to make an army.” That day felt different. Stumped on the why but it felt different. Later on you found out why. You’ll never ever forget it. It was your most happiest day you’ve lived. The freedom. The life that filled your soul and the genuine happiness that accompanied your aura. But nature had different plans for you.
Nature had weird ways of caring for you. It liked you. It had better plans for you. Plans that would not involve this era in anyway what so ever. You were hesitant at first but your character is familiar to its weird ways. Thus, leading you to comply. “wait. everyone quiet.” Voices were creeping into your hearing, slowly becoming louder. “She’s waking up.” Your eyelids flutter open. It felt as if you were worked to the bone, took an elevating nap then woke up refreshed. You were in a cocoon like capsule, made by water and other bits of nature. The cocoon discarded itself, evaporated and moving itself into the ongoing water cycle.
Your body slumped a bit, a little surprised squeak as you stood straight. Seeing people in weird gear and other gadgets around the room. Eyes big and observing everything. “Hi.” You looked at the man before you. Your eyes instinctively trailing to the flat screen. It’s a television. ‘How the world has evolved.’ You thought looking back to the man, mouth open but no words flow out. So you decide to respond with a small wave. Your calmness got interrupted as you saw a gadget that resembled a gun. “the war is still present?” You speak in a low tone and sigh. “The war?” He shakes his head.
“How old is she?” Someone utters in the background. You shrug to their question. “1863?” You look the man in the eyes. Pure shock fills his soul. “It’s the 2000’s.” You feel a force pull you out the establishment. Into a forest. ‘The 2000’s? What would you want me to do in the 2000’s?’ You question in your head as you run. To no destination in particular but to get away from those people. You ended up in a bar. It was one of the things you could recognize...everything was so different. As soon as you stepped foot into the bar, all eyes were on you. Stares full of disgust, lust and confusion.
You walked to the counter and stood at the end of the tall table. “Miss, are you lost?” You nod to the nicely dressed lady. She converses with her peers as you look over to the television. ‘Mutant Rights? Mutant? What’s a Mutant?’ This is so new. It was a lot happening at once. A high pitched whistle, stung your ear. “Hey, cutie.” Looking to him unbothered, you point to him and a gust of wind pushes him away. Not enough to knock him down or anything serious like that but enough to get him out your personal space. He looks at you like he’s seen a ghost. “m-m-m-m-m-m”
He kept stuttering, you cock your head to the side in amazement but puzzlement. “Yeah, she’s a mutant. Run along, boy.” The woman exclaims and pulls you into a back room. “You seem like a wonderful girl but men will take advantage of you.” She says handing you a soft fabric. “what’s this?” You ask, opening the folded clothing. “A hoodie? Have you not- you know what never mind.” She leaves the room. Pulling the fabric over your head. “A hoodie.” You fiddle with the cup like piece. “I’m a mutant?” You look at the full length mirror. ‘I see why she said I’ll be taken advantage of.’
You dust off the skin tight shorts and knock out rocks out your minimalistic flat shoes. “where do mutants go?” You walk out the door and ask the girl. She finishes serving someone a drink before answering. “here.” She hands you a pamphlet. ‘Xavier Institute’ You study the interestingly folded paper then look to her. “thank you.” You smile and walk out the bar. ‘Now to find this Institute.’ At those words many images and places flood your mind, until one image matched the pamphlet. You could hear children giggling and happily cheering. The images fade away and you know exactly where you’re going.
Putting the paper in the hoodie pocket, you begin to walk in the direction of the school. “ouch.” A small pebble hit you in the leg. Sighing, you stand still. The ground beneath you begins to rumble, carving a circle large enough for you to stand on. It slowly ripped itself out the ground bringing you in the air. Putting your hands out, you began to get your balance as you fixed your stance. It seemed like your seeing the world in a different light. The trees were so vibrant and beautiful as you were gliding on the rock. The sun was rising, its the most beautiful thing you’ve seen in your life. You couldn’t help but smile.
In no time, the school came into your view. The rock pile that was holding you up, broke apart into little rocks as you were lowered to the ground. Walking through the gates, you looked around for others. It didn’t seem like anyone was out yet, but lights were on in the inside. Placing two knocks on the door, you stood and waited for someone to answer. A woman with white hair answers the door. Before she could let out a simple question, you stop her with your own. “what year is it?” Her face scrunches up with confusion at your odd question. “2006? Come inside.”
She pats you on the shoulder as a welcoming jester. You hesitate before stepping into the abnormally big school. “logan?” You lock eyes with the recognizable man. “Do you know each other?” The white haired woman asks you. Breaking away from the eye contact, you frantically shake your head and back into the door. Logan kept looking at you, in confusion. “I- um. I might be at the w-wrong place.” Mist begins to fill the space you occupied, giving you a chance to leave. Time running short as footsteps echo behind you. Having no time to run off the property, you run into the woods that’s to the left of the school.
“I-I...I don’t want to go back.” You cried out as they grabbed you from behind, roughly sitting you down. “You know me?” He asked. You responded with a hum, still being a little shaken up. “you and I met at war. it was only once.” You looked up to him. “Why’d you run?” He asked as you got up to your feet. “when I escaped my project. there had been many more trying to recreate it. I thought it was still going on.” He lead the way back to the school. “I was apart of a solo weapon x program. It- it wasn’t #1 priority but it was still important.” They brought you into an office and began to ask questions, which you answered.
“So how old are you exactly?” Storm asks. “I don’t know.” Logan asked a few questions here and there but he stayed quiet most the time. Storm gave you an vacant room after the long introduction. You got familiar with the room before going out to the yard, you observed some students and meditated. It seemed like everything was calm. It was odd non-the-less but very nice. “Hello.” A child no older than 11 greets you. “hello.” You give a small smile to him. “What’s your name?” He asks, you look up to a small group of students a good ways away. “Y/n.” You say looking back to him.
“Look at what I can do, Y/n.” He says a bit excited. Pulling a weed from the ground, he holds it between his thumb and index finger, slowly it turns to a flower. “That’s very similar to what I can do.” You smile to the innocent boy. “Can I see?” He asks in a cutesy pure tone. “Sure.” You point to some moving rocks. They bonded together and came rolling to you. It was a medium sized ball of pebbles and rocks. Clasping your hands together then breaking them apart, water separated from the rocks. The rocks now rolling back to their places. The water splits into two and glides around, almost dancing with each other.
Soon enough it came down to you. “Wow.” The boy says, studying the water. You then open your right palm, heat gathering in it and creating fire. Now you had fire in one hand and water in the other. The two elements began to fight with each other. Trying to put the other out. Finally, you put the fire out and disperse the water. A gust of wind swishes through is hair, roughing it up a bit. Standing up, you give him a smile. You see Logan in the corner of your eye. “bye, flower boy.” He gives you a smile and you approach Logan. “You didn’t answer my question properly earlier.” He slows and matches your pace.
“I- I see. I had a failed attempt before. I thought I found refuge but I was horribly mistaken.” You looked away from him for a moment. “a distant memory is all it is now.” You give him a small friendly smile. “How can you not be upset?” He stops his actions and turns around to you. You stop too. “Upset? Why would I be upset?” He studies your answer for some time. “I’m not upset. How could I be? When all those people who experimented on me, are surely dead. While I am here, in a new era. Alive, well and hasn’t aged a day.” Your lips curve slightly but drop into a noticeable frown.
You wanted to open up a bit more to him but you felt you weren’t ready to talk about it. “You look upset.” His statement hinting at a tease. “Not upset. Just..sad.” Not picking up his light-hearted statement. You part ways as Logan gets called by Storm. Giving him a small wave, you go to your room. During the start of your months at the Institute, you did some strength training. “Colossus and Kitty, will spar with you.” It was soon clear to everyone that you are fairly powerful. Continuing your stay at the school with studying, you had to learn about the 21st century somehow. You found a new passion for reading while doing so. Romance books in particular.
“What romance book are you reading tonight?” You hide your smile as your head lifts from the book. “I’m actually reading a crime book.” He sits in a chair close to you. “What brings you here?” You bookmark your page and set the book down. He let out a heavy sigh. “Nightmares?” You whisper and he nods to you. He does a jester to you, returning the question. “visions of my parents.” You lean back, rubbing your forehead. “I need a cigar.” He exclaims under his breath. “do you ever think about it?” His eyes lock on yours. “do you ever just think about why we were chosen?” You try to maintain eye contact with him. “stupidity and..” He points to himself then you. “sacrifice.”
You break your eye contact with him. “I’m sure it wasn’t stupidity in your case. At least you had a choice.” He stays silent wanting to hear more about you. Logan was very hesitant about letting people in since Jean. But he couldn’t help the fact that he wanted to learn more about you. You knew him in the past and besides that you were an interesting person to him. “My parents...they gave me to the program. They didn’t even know what it was, all they needed to know was that it was going to save themselves if they gave away their child.” He reached over to you, giving you a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
“I don’t even remember much of my childhood. They told me it was garbage in my mind that I didn’t need.” You leaned into his touch slightly. “Some people say they want to forget their family. They don’t mean it. Do they?” A few tears escape your eyes. “because this feels like hell.” You quickly wipe the tears away. Logan walked with you to the sleeping quarters. You can’t stay up all night. The walk was silent but you two did walk pretty close together. “goodnight.” You smiled to him as you opened your door. “I’m sorry for dumping that all on you tonight. You don’t have to remember.” You nervously chuckle. He shakes his head.
“It’s..okay.” Hesitation in his voice. “If you need someone to talk too, I’ll- you can talk to me.” You can tell he struggled to find the right words but you appreciated it more than any other person would. Giving him a heartfelt smile. You gripped the door knob and looked over your shoulder. “Thank You, Logan.”

Love Disguised
Sherlock Holmes x reader
Reader confesses her love to Sherlock while he's wearing a disguise.
No warnings
Tumblr media
It had been well over a week since Sherlock Holmes went out to solve a very secret case. A case so secret that he couldn't even divulge any of it's details to you or even Watson leaving you both feeling very restless and nervous for the well being of your friend.
Quietly, you sat in a chair by the window overlooking the busy street below watching all the people walk by going about their day while all you could do was sit there worrying about Sherlock.
"Would you like some tea, dear?" Mrs. Hudson asked before leaving the room, carrying a broom and a duster in her hands.
"No thanks, Mrs. Hudson." You replied with a sigh.
She gave you a small smile and said, "Don't worry. He'll be back soon." By the tone in her voice you could tell she was worried too. You gave her a nod and turned back to the window.
"I hope so." You whispered to yourself, leaning your head against the chair as you heard the door open and the sound of Mrs. Hudson's footsteps against the wood floor as she left the room, shutting the door behind her as she went. Out in the hall you heard two voices, one belonging to Mrs. Hudson and the other you presumed was Watson's.
"How is she doing?" Watson asked in a hushed tone so you wouldn't hear him.
"Not very well. Just sitting there staring out the window looking like a lost puppy. Poor thing." Mrs. Hudson answered, shaking her head.
"She's probably worried about Sherlock, like the rest of us." Watson surmised.
"Worried yes, but I think also lonely." Mrs. Hudson pointed out, staring at the door.
"Lonely? What do you mean? I've been here." He asked, pointing to himself. Shooting him a look, Watson quickly understood what she meant.
"Oh..oh!" He murmured, feeling slightly awkward. With a cough he asked, "What shall we do about it?"
She shrugged. "Unless Mr. Holmes comes back, I don't think there is anything we can do." Her voice sounding pitiful as she turned a went down the stairs.
You were so lost in thought that you hadn't even noticed Watson enter the room till he announced it.
"Oh, hello Doctor Watson." You greeted him, forcing a smile. "Any news of Sherlock?" You asked, sitting forward.
"None yet I'm afraid." He answered, taking off his coat.
"I'm sure he'll be back soon. He's done this before you know." He assured you, lighting up a cigar. You sighed once more and sat back in the chair, feeling disappointed. Watson watched you for a moment feeling bad for you, realizing that what Mrs. Hudson said was true. You looked utterly lost without Sherlock.
He walked over to you and patted you gently on the shoulder. "If there's anything I can do, let me know."
"Thank you." You said, giving him an appreciative smile. "I'm sorry I haven't been myself. I just...miss him." You admitted.
"I know, my dear. I know."
A little while later just as you began to doze off there was a sudden knock at the door. "I'll get it!" You shouted, getting up from the chair and heading towards the door. When you opened it a tall, slender man stood there with a great bushy mustache and big nose that he apparently tried to hide underneath a wad of bushy hair that dangled in his face, giving him the appreance of a sheep dog.
"Good evening, Miss! Is Sherlock Holmes at home?" He asked with a sniff.
"No, I'm sorry." You answered.
"We'll, I'm Hebert Yaxley, I had an appointment with him. Could I perhaps speak to Doctor Watson instead?"
"Of course." You said, stepping aside to let the old gentleman in.
"I'll go get him. Wait here please." You told him, disappearing down the hall. Yaxley chuckled quietly to himself, rubbing his hands together. Except his name wasn't Yaxley and he did not have an appointment with Sherlock Holmes, or rather he was Sherlock Holmes in disguise. And what a joke it was going to be when he finally revealed himself.
Once you woke up Watson from his nap you returned to the living room where you found Yaxley sitting quietly at the table.
"He'll be right with you, sir." You told him, giving him a polite smile.
"Now who might you be? Are you Mr. Holmes's sister?" He asked you, looking up at you from under his messy locks of hair.
"No, sir." You answered, shaking your head.
"Ah, then you must be his wife!" Surely, that would get a good reaction out of you. You and Sherlock often bickered playfully with eachother and when Watson would comment that you sounded like an old couple you would get irritated and insist that you didn't. Usually saying something like, "That's just not possible. I don't think I would live to see old age married to Sherlock Holmes." Of course you didn't actually mean it. Sometimes he would say something about you too. That's just how it was and you loved it.
Instead you reacted differently, with a blush looking down at your feet. "Uh...no." You replied, biting your lip. "I'm just his friend." You said this with such a sadness in your voice that it puzzled him.
"You don't like Sherlock Holmes, my dear?" He questioned you further, leaning forward.
"Oh, yes I do! It's just that...I..." You stuttered, playing with your necklace. "It's just that...I would like to be more than friends." You finally blurted out.
Sherlock sat there surprised, unable to say anything. Oh no. What had he done? This wasn't what he had planned at all. He thought if anything you might have picked up on this little charade by now. You were always so perceptive. That's one of the things he liked most about you.
"And now I don't even know if I'll be able to tell him." You confessed, your eyes becoming watery. Sherlock rubbed the back of his neck, awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Maybe it was wrong of him to leave on a case like he did and not tell you anything. He hadn't realized how much of an affect it had on you till now.
"I'm sorry. I shouldnt be bothering you with my problems. You don't even know me." You apologized, wiping your eyes, feeling silly. Normally you weren't the type to get emotional, but you couldn't help it. You had to know about Sherlock.
"It's quite all right. Maybe I should come back another time?" He said, getting up from the chair. Just as he was about to leave, Watson emerged from his room. He stood there for a moment staring at the man at the table. If he didn't know any better it looked like it could be one of Sherlock's disguises.
"Everything all right?" Watson asked walking over to you, noticing that you were upset.
"I'm fine. Excuse me." You said, quickly leaving the room retreating to your own quarters, feeling rather embarrassed. Once Watson heard you shut your door he turned to Sherlock.
"Holmes?" He asked, leaning close to him.
No longer in a mood to continue, he pulled off his mustache and wig. "Yes, it's me." He replied.
"Thank heavens! Do you know how worried Y/N and I have been? Even poor Mrs. Hudson!" He exclaimed, sounding irate.
"I think I know now." Sherlock answered, taking off the rest of his disguise.
"What do you mean?" Watson asked, following him.
"Watson? Do you think...is it possible that Y/N might have feelings for me?" He asked, unsure.
Watson scoffed. "It took you this long to figure that out?!" Had it been that obvious? He was the world's greatest detective. How did he not see that you were in love with him?
"What do I do?" He asked turning to the older man looking confused, and maybe even a little afraid. He had never been in this situation before.
"Well, it depends. How do you feel about her?" He asked.
He stood there for a moment staring towards your door deep in thought. He did rather enjoy your company. Especially when you hummed along to the songs he played on his violin or the times he found you in his bathrobe because you couldn't find yours. Even when you crinkled your nose in disgust at the smell of his pipe. How cute he thought it was...
"Sherlock!" You gasped in the doorway of your room, suddenly snapping him back to reality. "You're back!"
You went to run into his arms, but stopped yourself, offering your hand instead. Sherlock stared at it not sure what to do. Should he accept it or hug you? You seemed to want to do the latter or did he misread that entirely?
Behind him Watson gave him a little nudge. For once, Sherlock didn't know what to say. His lips parted, but no words came out.
"I missed you." You finally said breaking the silence. He could only smile at you, taking your hand in his. For a long moment, you stood there staring into each other's eyes.
Watson shuffled back and forth on the balls of his feet impatiently, waiting to see what was going to happen.
Suddenly, Sherlock wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a hug. You blinked, feeling confused. He had never hugged you before and you didn't quite know how to react.
"I missed you too." He told you softly.
Your heart skipped a beat. "You did?" You asked as you hugged him back, resting your head on his shoulder, and closing your eyes, enjoying the warmth of having his arms around you.
"Mhm." He answered, nodding his head as he gently stroked his hand over your silky hair. A little flutter inside your heart urged you to kiss him, but you resisted. Maybe this was just a friendly hug? It didn't really feel like it. You thought.
"Sherlock?" You breathed, pulling away.
"Yes?" He asked, looking down at you as you gently caressed his cheek.
You looked so beautiful. He thought, tilting his head into your palm. You skin was so soft and warm against his. He had seen this look before, only on those who were truly in love. It was in your eyes, how they twinkled in the soft candlelight like stars in the night. Was this how he was looking at you now? He wondered.
Sherlock's heart began to race as your faces drew closer and closer together, your lips mere inches apart. He stood there frozen for a moment, his eyes half lidded as you placed a delicate kiss upon his lips. He felt his face become hot, a noticable blush forming on his face as your lips lingered for a few more seconds. When you went to pull away he suddenly wrapped his hand around your nape and pulled you closer, kissing you back. He didn't want to stop kissing you. He couldn't describe what he was feeling, except that it felt right. Through all the moments you shared, this, he realized was love.
Watson chuckled, feeling satisfied. Finally! He thought. Wait till he told Mrs. Hudson about this...

Memories Will Last Forever (Sitka x reader)
Masterlist
Warnings: Major character death
Tumblr media
A smile quickly made it’s way to Y/n’s face as her eyes landed on her husband. Kallik’s excited babbles suggested that he had also seen the man walking toward their home. He squirmed in his mother’s arms, reaching out for his dad. Y/n placed him down, letting the young boy walk on shaky legs to his father.
Sitka let out a small chuckle as Kallik reached him. “Hello, little bug,” he smiled, picking the boy up and pressing a kiss to his head. Sitka made his way over to Y/n. “And my darling wife,” he kissed Y/n’s cheek, “You’re looking absolutely beautiful today.”
“Thank you. You’re looking good yourself.” Y/n smiled at her little family. Every time she saw them together, she remembered the first time Sitka held his son.
Kallik was born during last year’s first summer storm. Thunder and lightning were rare in the north, but that night had been filled with loud booms and flashes of light. Sitka was terrified, not of the overstimulating storm but of the screams of his love that filled the silent pauses.
Their relationship seemed to be rushed. Y/n and Sitka had grown up together, and he knew from the moment he came of age that she would be his wife. She was his rock when his parents died, and she helped him take care of his little brothers. They got married when they were twenty, but even then, some of their friends had been shocked it took so long. It wasn’t even half a year after the wedding that Y/n got pregnant.
They were absolutely terrified. It seemed too soon for a baby, but everyone reminded them that they had already been taking care of children for a couple years. Denahi and Kenai weren’t young, but they had still needed caring for when their parents had died. After some convincing and reminiscing of the times they had to help Denahi or Kenai out of a sticky situation, Y/n and Sitka felt ready.
Still, no amount of planning could have prepared Sitka for the fear he felt when Y/n’s contractions started.
Her screams were loud, and his hand was sore. When she started crying, he tried to calm her, but it was nearly impossible with his own erratic fears. He kissed away her tears and tried to reassure her it would be over soon.
In the end, they both felt it was worth it. The feeling of seeing their spouse with their son was more happiness than either had ever felt.
Y/n was grateful that she got to feel a piece of that happiness every time Stika held their son. She pulled herself out of her memories.
Kallik was babbling as if he was talking to Sitka, and Sitka was playing along. He could say a few words, like ‘food’ and ‘up,’ and he even knew the names of the people he saw every day, even if he couldn’t always pronounce them correctly. He stopped talking suddenly and rested his head on Sitka’s shoulder.
“You tired?” Sitka asked the boy.
“He shouldn’t be,” Y/n responded. “He just woke up from his nap.”
Y/n’s eye caught on something behind her husband. It was his bag of supplies from their fishing trip. She went and picked it up, bringing it inside. Sitka followed her.
“How was the river?” Y/n started unpacking the bag. “Lots of fish?”
Sitka nodded. “Yeah, there were a couple times we lost some because Kenai was fooling around, but we still got plenty.”
“Is he nervous?”
“He seems pretty confident. Nothing like we were.” They both let out a soft chuckle remembering their coming of age ceremonies.
Sitka’s birthday was just a month before Y/n. He had been terrified, pacing the entire morning before the ceremony. His parents had tried everything. They reassured him, told him the stories of their own rituals, and even tried giving him tasks to do, but nothing seemed to work. Y/n was the only one who could get him to calm down, even if it was only a bit.
She had stopped him, holding him still with her hands on his shoulders. He was stronger than her and could have easily moved, but he let her block him. Looking him in the eyes, Y/n promised him that no matter what his totem was, she would still be his friend. She told him that it didn’t change who he was; it just showed him the best path to take.
He didn’t tell anyone until years later, but that was the moment Sitka knew he would marry Y/n.
A month later, before Y/n got her totem, he had repeated her words to her, and for good luck, he gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Y/n barely remembered the rest of the day after the kiss, but she didn’t really care. She was pretty sure she loved her best friend, and that was more important than anything else.
Together, they figured out their totems. They weren’t sure how to live like an eagle of guidance or a reindeer of perseverance. But they figured it out, and they figured out their relationship, too.
As Y/n finished unpacking the bag, Sitka’s voice rang out, “Is Tanana back yet?”
“Not yet—”
As soon as Y/n had said the words, someone called out: “She’s back!”
They could hear people running past outside. Y/n smiled. “Nevermind.”
Sitka walked over to his wife, giving her a kiss. She took Kallik from his arms as he went to check on Kenai and make sure both his brothers were heading to the ceremony. “See you there.”
Y/n placed Kallik on her shoulders before joining the rest of the tribe.
Y/n sat beside Alasie, making sure to leave room for her husband and his brothers. Alasie had several children, and Y/n often spent time with her, letting their children play together. Kallik enjoyed spending time with them, and the older children seemed to enjoy playing with him.
Kallik crawled from Y/n’s lap, standing as soon as he could. He seemed particularly interested in the music and dancing. He bounced himself up and down in his own little dance. Y/n and Alasie giggled as they watched him. Some of the older kids joined in, trying to mimic the adult dancers.
Eventually, Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai joined them.
Kallik was excited to see his uncles and quickly paused his dancing to go see them. The boys smiled at their nephew, tickling and playing with him.
Y/n remembered when she and Sitka had told them she was pregnant.
She had been worried they wouldn’t take it well.
Denahi had come of age and already got his totem. He had started spending less time at home with the family, preferring to go out with friends. He still spent a lot of time with his brothers and new sister, but he didn’t seem like he would be overly worried about a loss of attention that the baby would bring.
Kenai was a different story. He was a wild 14-year-old, adventurous and a bit reckless. Since his parents died, he had taken to exploring and going on adventures with Y/n or Sitka. Those adventures would have to be paused for a little while, at least Y/n’s would. Sitka would have to stop when the due date got closer to get ready for the baby.
Y/n was worried Kenai would be upset that he was losing his adventure pals; she knew how upset he had been when his dad—who used to take him on the trips—was gone. She didn’t want to be the cause of his distress.
In the end, it was all for naught. Denahi was happy for Sitka and Y/n, but Kenai had shocked both the adults with his reaction. He nearly exploded with excitement. As soon as the words left their mouths, Kenai started talking about the adventures he would take the baby on and all the cool things he could do with a baby. Y/n and Sitka had to explain that some of those things wouldn’t be happening with their baby, but they were still overjoyed with the reaction.
Suddenly, Lusa, Alasie’s daughter, started running away. Alasie kept her eyes on the little girl, watching that she didn’t stray too far.
Tanana entered the circle. She lit the fire, officially starting the ceremony.
She was interrupted by a quiet voice calling for her. Lusa held her arms up, hoping to be picked up by the shaman.
Tanana lifted her up before beginning her speech. She carried Lusa in her arms as she talked. “When each of us comes of age, the great spirits reveal to us a totem that helps guide us through our lives. Some of us use courage to guide us.” She gestured to Kanut, who had received a totem of courage. “Others patience.” She handed Lusa back to Alasie with a smile. “And some of us, beauty.” She sat down and picked up a bowl of paints. “Kenai,” she called.
Kenai was up and over to Tanana as soon as he heard his name. Y/n, Sitka and Denahi laughed lightly at his eagerness. They could see him bouncing with excitement as he talked with Tanana.
“Kenai,” Tanana continued, loud enough for everyone to hear, “I have been to the mountain where the lights touch the earth, and the great spirits have revealed to me your totem. To become a man, your actions must be guided by one thing.” She reached behind her and began unfolding the bundle. “Your totem is,” she paused, revealing a bear, “love.”
“What?” Kenai asked.
“Yes, love.” Tanana put the totem around his neck.
He picked it up from his chest. “The bear of love?”
Denahi started silently laughing. They all knew how excited Kenai had been; he was sure he would get a sabre tooth tiger for bravery or something equally as cool. Y/n elbowed the middle brother, silently telling him to knock it off.
When Kenai turned around, his face looked so desperate, Y/n couldn’t help the quiet laugh that escaped her lips. Her hand quickly clamped over her mouth as Kenai whispered, “Who wants to trade?”
Tanana grabbed his face, turning him back to her. “There is no trading!” She hit his head. “Oh, Kenai, love is the most precious of totems. It reveals itself in unexpected ways. Let love guide your actions, then one day, you’ll be a man and will place your mark next to those of our ancestors.”
They stood, walking over to the cave wall. Kenai glanced from his hand to the wall. His parents had placed their marks on the wall, as had Sitka and Y/n. He wanted to prove that he could be a man—that he could be accomplished.
Tanana lifted his hand into the air, and the crowd erupted into cheers.
Once the ceremony was over, everyone began standing. Y/n, Sitka, and Denahi were going to go see Kenai, but he had already left.
Denahi ran off, promising to find Kenai. Sitka and Y/n made their way back slowly, letting Kallik walk at his own pace. Every now and then, Kallik would spot a rock that caught his eye. He would stop to pick it up and present it to one of his parents as a gift.
“You know,” Y/n started as Kallik gave Sitka a rock, “I’ve started feeling some of the signs.” Sitka glanced up, not understanding what was his wife was talking about. Y/n smiled at him as he rose back to his full height. “How would you feel if we had another child?”
Sitka smiled brightly. “Are you serious?”
“I don’t know for sure, but all the signs I had with Kallik are starting again. I think I might be.”
Sitka grabbed Y/n in his arms, hugging her as tight as he could. “I am so happy.” He nestled his head into her neck. “Another baby.” He pulled back, still smiling. “The boys will be so happy and—”
Kallik came running up to them with another rock, this one for Y/n. She bent down and picked him up.
“And this little bug,” Sitka continued, tickling his son, “I bet he’s going to love being a big brother.” He kissed them both.
The sound of his brothers arguing caused both to turn their heads. Sitka smiled as he headed towards the sound. “Make sure they don’t kill each other.”
“I’ll try.”
As soon as he was out of sight, Y/n smiled down at her son. “Want to come help with the fish?”
Kallik didn’t know what most of those words were, but he liked fish. “Fish!” he cheered as they walked.
When they go there, a few others who were helping with the fish, including Denahi, had already arrived. They were all looking around at the remains of the fish. The basket had come down, and the paw prints in the dirt suggested a bear had done it. Denahi picked up the rope. They all noticed it was unbroken.
Sitka and Kenai arrived at that moment, talking about thieving bears.
“You didn’t tie it up, did you?” Denahi asked, stepping closer to Kenai. Kenai stuttered, not knowing what to say. “You should have gotten the totem of pinheads.”
“Knock it off,” Sitka interrupted. “We’ll just make another basket.”
“—We? Oh no,” Denahi stormed forward, “it took me two weeks to make that basket. Get loverboy to do it. He’s the one that’s messing things up all the time. Typical Kenai.”
Kenai disappeared briefly and returned with his spear. “All right. I’ll go get your basket.”
“Kenai, wait!” Sitka called, but Kenai was already gone. “Kenai!” He glared at Denahi.
“What?”
Y/n stepped up to him. “You know exactly what. How many times have you made a mistake that Sitka or I had to fix?” Denahi looked down. “Now, your brother has gone out to hunt down a basket taken by a bear. I think you best go with him.”
Sitka smiled when Denahi left to grab his spear. He placed a kiss on Y/n’s forehead and ruffled his son’s hair as he rested against his mother’s chest. “I’ll see you later. Apparently, I’m on basket rescue duty.”
Y/n smiled. “Keep them safe.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
--
The sun had just gone down when Y/n heard the commotion outside their home. She glanced back to see Kallik playing with his toys before she stepped out. Several of the tribe’s men were rushing towards the river. The women were watching from their homes. When they caught Y/n’s eye, they gave her a sorrowful look.
She spotted Denahi walking towards her with his head hung low. “Denahi,” she called, pushing forward. “What’s going on?” He glanced up, his eyes filled with tears. “Where’s Kenai? Is everything okay?”
Denahi held up the fabric in his hand. It was Sitka’s hood.
Y/n gasped, bringing a hand to her chest. “No,” she whispered with a shaky voice.
He handed her the cloth. “I’m so sorry, Y/n.” He reached out to put a hand on her shoulder, but she collapsed to her knees.
Tears streamed down her face. She clutched Sitka’s hood to her chest as she sobbed. The rest of the world was tuned out as her mind replayed her time with Sitka. From the time they learned how to fish to their wedding, Y/n replayed it all. Her heart broke as she thought of their conversation just before he left. If she was pregnant, she would have to do it all without him—without the love of her life.
She felt someone put their arms around her, and for a moment, she pretended it was Sitka. She knew it wasn’t. She knew it was probably Denahi or even one of her friends. But she needed to pretend, even if it was just for a minute.
Her imagination was broken as she felt two little hands on her cheeks. She opened her eyes to see her son.
“Mama?” Kallik asked, worried at the sight of her tears. He had never seen his mother cry; she had always been so happy.
Y/n pulled him into her lap and held him close. “I’m sorry, my love. It will be okay. Mama’s okay.”
--
Y/n walked through the crowds with Kallick in her arms and Denahi and Kenai by her sides. Denahi carried Sitka’s spear while Kenai had his fur hood. They placed the items down in front of Tanana as she began the ritual of farewell.
Denahi, Kenai, and Y/n, with Kallik on her lap, knelt in front of Tanana and watched.
Y/n was certain Kallik didn’t quite understand what was happening. She had told him what she thought he would comprehend. She told him that his father wouldn’t be coming home, and it was just them now. But Kallik still asked when his dad would be back.
He could understand that tonight was a special night through the bright lights and his best clothes, but he didn’t know what it was for. He stayed quiet, curled in his mother’s lap.
As the ceremony ended, Y/n notice Kallik yawn. She stood up, listening to the condolences of everyone who approached. When Alasie came up, she offered to take Kallik home and put him to bed. She could see that he had almost fallen asleep already, so Y/n handed him over, thanking her good friend.
Y/n glanced over to her family but found that Kenai had already gone. She stood by Denahi, watching as the fire flicked up into the night. When she noticed the tears in his eyes, she held Denahi’s hand, squeezing it as a sign she wouldn’t leave.
When the fire had finally died out, Tanana left, leaving Y/n and Denahi.
Kenai approached from behind, carrying two spears and a bag with food. “You ready?” he called out.
Y/n and Denahi turned. “For what?” Denahi asked.
“For going after the bear.” Kenai tossed one of the spears to him.
Y/n shook her head. “Kenai, you can’t. The bear didn’t kill him. This will only anger the spirits.”
“I know what you’re feeling,” Denahi agreed, “but killing that bear is wrong.”
“Wrong?” Kenai’s voice was firm. “Our brother is dead, and it’s because of that monster.”
“Kenai,” Y/n pleaded, but her voice was drowned out by Denahi.
“I don’t blame the bear, Kenai.”
“Denahi!” Y/n scolded. “This was no one’s fault. You both need to calm down.”
“—No offence, Y/n, but you weren’t there.” Kenai scoffed. “You don’t know what happened.”
“Kenai,” Denahi drawled, “killing that bear won’t make you a man.”
“Oh,” Kenai pushed his brother. “Now you’re trying to be wise.”
“I’m trying to follow my totem. Why can’t you do the same?”
“You really think love has anything to do with being a man? A man wouldn’t just sit here and do nothing.” Kenai turned, but Denahi stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.
“Kenai. Don’t upset the spirits.”
Kenai scoffed. “Spirits. Thanks for your wisdom.” He began his angry stomp again, only pausing when he passed Tanana. He pulled his totem off and threw it in the ash before leaving.
Tanana picked it up and brushed it off.
Denahi looked between Y/n and where Kenai disappeared to. “I’ve got to stop him.”
Y/n took the totem from Tanana and placed it in Denahi’s hand. “You come back to me—both of you.” She brought a hand up to caress his cheek. “Sitka doesn’t need to be avenged; he needs his family to be together.”
Denahi nodded before chasing after his brother.
--
Y/n noticed the eagle that always seemed to perch on the trees near their home. Whenever she was having a bad day, or she felt like she needed her husband, the eagle was there. It watched her and Kallik, making sure they were okay. She dared to think it was Sitka watching over her and his son.
When Denahi returned from tracking Kenai, he returned with two bears in tow. He claimed that it was Kenai—that the spirits had turned him into a bear for taking an innocent life. At first, Y/n was skeptical, but one look into the bear’s eyes told her exactly who it was.
The bear was gentle as it nuzzled Kallik and Y/n’s stomach, which had grown slightly over the past few months. Y/n adored the smaller bear that came home with them, too. Koda, as Denahi told her was the young bear’s name, was adorable.
Y/n saw the eagle that afternoon.
At the ceremony to celebrate Kenai becoming a man—or a bear in his case—Y/n felt happier than she had in a long time. And as they walked back to their home, Y/n spotted the eagle.
It appeared at every major event. When Y/n gave birth to her baby girl, Awena, the eagle was perched outside.
It brought her comfort to know that her husband was still watching over her and their children. He wasn’t truly gone. She saw him every day, and in the nights, while she slept, she relived her memories of him. When her children were older, she would tell them her memories, and in that way, he would live forever.
