Not so much of stats, but just a general ramble of a mystery idea/campaign idea i have, mostly involving unreality and the Mandela Effect.

Essentially, I have an idea that certain mandela effect/collective false memories (such as the notorious Berenstain/Berenstein) are attributed from an alternate reality. How such ideas and false memories occur in this campaign is due to alternate realities dying off, either by its own apocolypse or an entity bringing it about. The dying reality attempts to merge with the one next it, like a cascade effect. From the remnants, several wake up in the new reality as if they awoke from a nightmare, taking over their alternate reality's body with mixed memories. Sometimes those who wake up no longer remember the previous alternate reality or even the end of it, but retain a few memories of it.

The alternate reality's differences are very minor, but can be noticible... such as berenstain/berenstein.

I had a thought of the campaign playing out as normal at first, maybe even have a few one shot mysteries not tied to it. But soon the hunters will experience the world-ending entity. They have no way of surviving its apocalypse, and have it play out as their demise... only to awake the next day. Was it a vision? A groundshog day effect? Everything seems the same, and the next day plays out normal. But then... lets say their favorite brand of cereal is named differently, or that a show they watch the characters are named something else. It has to be something that is noticable right away that cues them in that something is not right.

And thus, they start to figure out how to stop the entity from destroying more realities. How does it form? Why does it happen?

Maybe one day I will actually sit down and develope this as an actual full blown arc/campaign, but for now I shall toss it in here, for you all to hopefully get inspired.

Whst kind of spurred this thought process is that i've been diving deep into analog horror as of late. Just finished up the Eventide Media Center series via Archive.org, and now snuffling through the analog horror tv tropes page looking for more.

this post got me really thinking about the set rules in the Slips of the Stars universe with the time stuff so here's a bit of what I consider the way it works:

Slips of the Stars definitely leans more time loop radical than time loop purist

The loops aren't entirely the same every day! they're very similar and end in the same general results occur but there are definitely variations and the further from the first loop they are the more variations there are. this is in part because...

There is a finite ticking clock that's tied to permadeath for everyone. the apocalypse happens every day! this is fine. what isn't fine is that after a while the loops start to leak into each other, and the weather gets really fucky, and it seems like the fabric of time is kind of...tearing apart. uh oh!

There's a narrative/characterizations reason for the loops happening, but I don't really have a magic or sci-fi reason rn tbh. maybe it'll be added...maybe not lol

Multiple characters are aware of the loops. Additionally, characters can be made aware of the loops and keep that awareness under certain circumstances. Slips doesn't figure this all out until way later

The loops always happen in a day, and they're death-to-death (probably). The loops are death-to-death because they always happen in a day. Slips is literally incapable of surviving until the next day until they break the loop

Nothing physical can be taken intentionally from loop to loop, and intentional changes don't carry over. However, as the loops continue, some things may unintentionally leak over into other loops.

I don't think Slips actually goes through, like, thousands or hundreds of loops because of the ticking clock element. I have yet to decide how many occur, but I think it's definitely going to be under, like, 45.

may be updated when I think of some more! I've only watched a few movies on that post (Groundshog Day, Palm Springs, Russian Doll) so I really want to watch those and maybe take some more inspiration in how they do things haha

Tarzan and Jane (2002)

This is one of those movies that’s obviously a pilot for a show, and keeping that in mind it’s not terrible.

The animation is rough, and again that’s probably due to it being made for TV rather than for a movie.

Every segment is the same though. Jane doesn’t trust Tarzan or is trying to change Tarzan. She ends up needing Tarzan and accepts him for who he is.

I wish they’d done a better job with this, because the idea of Jane struggling to adjust to life in the jungle really had legs. What they did was just really dumbed down.

Best character: Tarzan. I think they kept his character pretty consistent and he was a good character throughout.

Worst character: Jane. It felt like groundshog day having her learn the same lesson over and over again.
