Heeeey Naff I've been thinking about them Sweet Savage Hearts boys again this time wondering about their eating/fueling: I know Grease eats fear but does he eat anything else maybe for funsies? I'm guessing Calmo doesn't eat but does he have any thoughts on human food? Also does he charge in some way or does he and/or MC have to stock up on batteries? Finally, what does Hawthorn eat?

Hey! Oh, my boys!

Grease can technically chew and swallow food like a human, but he would have to spit it back up later because his body simply isn't designed to digest such material. He will, on occasion and purely to rile up MC, eat things just to show off his tongue and make suggestive remarks about someone else he'd devoured. Then later he'd have to privately hack it up like a cat coughing up a hairball. He would be absolutely notified if MC ever caught him doing such a thing.

Aside from that, Grease will occasionally hang around/slip inside movie theatres that are showing horror films to get a nice little snack of fear off of the people viewing it.

Calmo has little thought of human food except for when it concerns MC. Then he calculates calorie intake and confirms that MC has not eaten enough today, what meals MC has or skipped, and if MC has eaten a vegetable in the last seven days. He discovers that cooking is a science and that draws him into crafting nice dinners for MC when he can get MC to actually sit down and partake.

Calmo requires charging. He has a massive battery the size of a brick within his chassis and he's able to hook up to wires and feed off of the energy outlets in MC's home. Once a year, MC has to find a replacement battery and replace the one inside of Calmo's chassis. It's a delicate and precious operation but he trusts MC to do it for him.

Hawthorn is an obligate carnivore. He must eat meat for most of his diet but he will indulge in a fruit or nut every now and then just for a sweet treat or little snack. He will ambush and scavenge large animals in the woods, catch birds and rodents, and snatch fish out of streams and lakes.

His eating out of a deer carcass is something he never wants MC to see, and he grows paranoid it will happen sooner or later.

Witches – How do you come up with names for your ocs?

Typically my OCs are based on other characters unconsciously so they get similar names. Either that or a name suddenly appears during my daydream, and I proceed to forget it.

Mummies – What would 3 of your oc’s be dressed for Halloween?

Natalie does one of those horror outfits with fake blood and everything, and wears cat ears to go with it as a joke, Jade goes as one of her old characters, and Henry would wear an obviously fake Emperor’s Coven uniform.

Cauldron - Fave genres?

I don’t know how to describe genres for fanfic but for tags I love crack, teacher AUs, outside POVs, and character studies.

This was originally supposed to be an in universe comparison made by a character in universe and that will eventually come but:

Is it just me or does Dorn remind anyone else of some aggressive, territorial herbivore? Like I know there's a Guilliman cow meme going on that I don't understand but Dorn reminds me of like a buffalo or triceratops standing angrily in a herd. I think it's the grumpiness and theme of protection.

Also he just reminds me of the triceratops dad from the land before time (note I haven't seen that movie or show since childhood so the character might not be completely accurate given my memory).

Silva; The Horned God of the forests. Design is of course based around the triceratops (with some styracosaurus influence in the frill). He's a grumpy old grandpa with an incomprehensibly high kill count, but does have a tender side to worshippers, young ones, and his 'little' brother (who is a massive sauropod deity vastly outsizing the rest of the pantheon).

He is notably the first divine foe our protagonist, Dune, faces in Deicide.

Update? (not really so much)

Heyyyyy, I know this is probably not the update that you've been waiting for but I realized I've been MIA from this blog for a bit so I wanted to just touch base on where I was at with the demo and also to let you guys know that this project (and blog) is NOT dead and I'm still working on it as much as I can.

Currently, the demo is basically 100% done in terms of coding and about 50% done with the actual writing (and the other half is just incoherent rambling LOL). With my schedule, I can't work on the demo every day but I do think about it a lot and I regularly come up with new ideas for the storylines that I jot down in my notes app.

I'll be able to devote a lot more time to this starting in late May/early June, so the demo will definitely be out around that time. I'm really sorry that I wasn't able to fulfill the original January deadline! Next time, I won't announce a set date until I know for sure.

That being said, I know this might be a lot to ask since the demo isn't even out yet but I would love it if you guys could send me character asks! I miss responding to your questions and engaging with you all, and I would love to use this time to better flesh out the characters! I found this post by grumpy-triceratops with a list of prompts if you need ideas but also if sending asks is not your thing, I totally get it! No pressure at all.

Ourem [Strahliana @egglygreg]

Ourem is an okari, a domesticated breed of thyrinna, which is a fictional marsupial species based on the Tasmanian Tiger (thylacine). While okari specifically have a coat and appearance similar to a rough collie, all thyrinna have a bony head ridge like a triceratops. Okari are essentially livestock guardian dogs who watch over a flock of animals to protect them from predators, and Ourem is very committed to his job. Unfortunately for him, his flock went from a peaceful herd of animals to a trio of troublesome humans (Ahleri, Zhahara and Conall) and a very annoying sumic possum (Nimble) who are all determined to cause him as much stress as possible. He spends a lot of his time trying to herd them away from trouble, and is a bit of a worrywart. He has real grumpy dad energy despite being (basically) a dog. Does a lot of those big sighs dogs sometimes do. Loves a good nap.

What flavor would your character say their personality is?

Lemon. Light, bright, inherently a bit sour, but can delightfully sweet when you add the right stuff to it.

Would your character prefer baking, cooking or mixing drinks?

Mixing drinks, baking, cooking in that order. She does more baking, but she really enjoys mixing drinks.

Is there a food or drink your character is unwilling to try?

She tries her best not to be picky, but if there's something with a texture she knows she's not gonna like, she's not gonna bother trying it. Doesn't matter if it tastes decent if the texture is bad.

How big is your character's appetite?

Pretty large! She burns a lot of energy with all her training, so she eats plenty to fuel and strengthen her body.

Does your character consider eating fun?

Not particularly. It's mostly something she does because it needs to be done, and eating her favorite foods makes it better? But I don't think she'd consider it "fun". The only aspect of having a meal that's fun to her is the social aspect of having meals with the Bulls.

Would your character eat or drink something they didn't like to appease someone?

I'm gonna say yes, but it probably depends heavily on what the food is and who's asking. Theres a spectrum for how willing she'd be based on how much she didn't like the food and how much she loves the person asking and doesn't want to disappoint them.

Is there food that has made your character sick?

Dried plantain/banana chips. Specifically dried chips. Normal bananas are fine, but for some reason, the dried chips make her ill.

What is your character's favorite food group?

Aurora really likes proteins and carbs lmfao. Meats are probably her favorite, but ✨️she's just a girl✨️ and she loves grains. She fucks heavy with pastas and rice and bread. She really does love all the food groups, but if she had to, she would be content being just a meat and potatoes girlie.

Does your character like to try new foods?

She doesn't mind it, yea! She's not really the type to search out new food experiences, but she's open to trying new things when the opportunity presents itself.

What is a childhood meal your character cherishes?

A very simple dish her papa used to make was thinly sliced meat marinated in soy sauce and sugar over a bed of rice. She's found ways to get a similar tasting dish in Clover, but she hasn't fully nailed the taste. Another dish was Zara's beef stew. When Zora makes it, it's pure nostalgia in a bowl.

Is your character food motivated?

Not at all, really. Perhaps a silly little treat might get her going, but she's not really a food motivated person.

Which mealtime is your character's favorite?

Hard tie between breakfast and dinner. Breakfast has so many good options, but dinner has the good meats.

How much does your character care about wasting food?

A fairly good deal. Even in her homeland, she wasn't from wealth. In Clover, she was raised in the forsaken realm, and while they definitely had enough to keep food on the table, not being wasteful was something that had been instilled in her from a young age. She hates how wasteful the nobles and royals tend to be.

Does your character prefer restaurant food or home cooked food?

Usually home cooked. There's something comforting and familiar about a home cooked meal, y'know?

What food or drink does your character consider a treat?

Most sweets from a bakery! She loves little pastries, and usually, she makes herself make them at home when she wants a little sweet treat. Every now and then, though, she lets herself visit her favorite bakery and brings home a box or two of goodies for the squad. She knows she can't make a croissant or a puff pastry as well as these guys can. She doesn't have the patience for laminating layers of butter like that.

Is there a food texture your character doesn't like?

Yes! Aurora can't stand slimy foods and mushy foods. Oysters are a huge no-go, as is oatmeal. She can tolerate jello for about 5 minutes until her brain realizes it's eating jello, and then she can't touch it. Bananas also fall under the mushy category, but she tries to force those down after workouts.

What kind of drinks does your character prefer?

Icy cold and not too sweet. She likes water with some flavor, like lemon or fruit infusions. It needs *some* sort of flavor to it. The only thing she enjoys on the sweeter side is her coffee and her hot cocoa. She also really likes fruity teas and peppermint teas, hot or iced.

Depends on their placement on others. It also depends on what caused it. If it was a fight he has a lot more respect than if it were the result of a careless accident. He has a couple scars along his hands from fighting, but he has a scar on the side of his jaw he appreciates. He also has a particular scar on his inner forearm from a fight he prefers not to let show.

How much interest does your character take in trends?

Almost none, but it depends on what kind of trend. He may be more interested in exploring food or artistic trends than social media or fashion, which he doesn't think about a lot at first

Is there someone your character tries to look similar to?

Jade to an extent, but that's more a result of his copycat habit. Jack, Crowley more than anything (birdies (though Yuu doesn't have outer features and doesn't know what kind he is), head bird, only source of care in an often confusing/hostile environment, familial imprinting etc)

Eye bags, perhaps ?

He starts dressing somewhat more sharply once he's able to afford the clothing. He's transitioning, so physically changing. He starts wearing gloves all the time at some point, partially due to hand pain after he's injured, partially due to psychic growth causing unpleasant waves when he touches things

He doesn't like flashy colors and doesn't like wearing things around his neck if he can avoid it

Anything very flashy or high fashion would be something he would assume should be left to others, if it's something silly he might be willing to wear it as long as it's not a full on clown suit

Deceiving - He tries to keep himself completely shut off from others. But if he's not actively attempting to smile/charm/influence his expression si pretty closed off. Clothing wise, there is not much to deceive with. Unless he feels like a particular color or stye etc may bother someone and he wants to irritate them, he doesn't have any sort of persona he's trying to communicate through clothing. It's mostly dark, simple, maybe a few frills if it works but not a lot

What are your character's thoughts on wearing costumes?

They can be fun, as long as he's able to be comfortable.

Mostly he's fine with his school uniform. Other than that, he usually wears a turtle neck shirt with a jacket and pants.

He doesn't imagine anyone would sincerely worry besides Grim who needs him to help with schoolwork, but he thinks maybe the doctor would be a little upset.

He feels stressed to set a good example and has a difficult time doling out punishment because he feels he must have failed for anything bad to have happened. Antagonizes the other leaders around him, though

What is your character's favorite physical trait they possess?

Um he's honestly kind of. Vain? LMFAO. Not insecure about his looks. Thinks he's hot shit. Kind of insufferable flirt. Catcalls. Back on topic he likes his hair the most. Natural curls for the win. He got it from his mom me thinks. His hair grayed early like hers too. Isn't self-conscious about that or any wrinkles starting to appear. Thinks he pulls it off (he does but don't tell him that please). Knows a lot about hair care and has helped friends braid their hair (if only he met Lorraine :( he would definitely learn to work her hair + most familiarity with dreads)

3. Is there something about your character's appearance that they would change if possible?

When he was younger he had issues with his skin color due to colorism and constantly being compared to whiteness and failing to live up to that label (Mexicans were considered 'white' for immigration purposes; need to find date later). Being part of the chicano movement fostered a sense of pride in shared cultural heritage. Guerra especially connected to the concept of Aztlán; although he wasn't a strict believer or interested in the idea of the true 'origins' of Mexican Americans, it made him a lot more secure in his identity including his looks (thinking he's probably at least part indigenous but need to do more research.). He's not a fucking gringo!-- and he wears that with pride. He's very comfortable in his body now. It's a connection to his past, his family, everyone that came before him. How could it be bad?

11. Is your character's favorite color a color they wear often?

Guerra really likes bright colors. He likes patterns/what colors do together more than a single color by itself. Think of pacel picados. day of the dead costumes and altars, etc. If he had to choose a color though it would be turquoise. He doesn't get to wear it that often though. It doesn't suit his work or lifestyle and despite his comfortability in his looks, he does still struggle with internalized ideas of what men should look like, both from mainstream society and from within the heavily mascunlized chicano movement itself. He'd like to try bright clothes or more cultural costumes but it feels too... intimate. Like a suit that doesn't fit. He has complicated feelings about fashion basically lol that I might elaborate on later.

I'll be doing this for Heat of the Night AU Ryldinn.

👕 Appearance

1. What is your character's favorite physical trait they possess?

As I've said before, Ryldinn is vain. He works very hard on his body and is pretty happy with everything below the neck. Favorite is probably his abs and least favorite is his face.

2. What would your character wear if they had to gussy up?

Something that annoys Astarion, generally. He'll wear anything from a thong to a ball gown but for events he tends to mix it up with a ladies blouse, men's dress pants and heels. Silk scarves, hair accessories, etc...

3. Is there something about your character's appearance that they'd change if possible?

He'd probably love to be a little taller at this point. He's tall for a drow but boy barely brushes 5'7" and in a world of tieflings and humans he feels tiny. He does wear heels. He also has a cute round little face that he'd like to be more elegant and chiseled like Astarion, and will wear makeup, but his skin is so dark contouring isn't possible.

4. Does your character have a favorite material they like to wear?

Anything soft. He has sensitive skin so he likes silk and cashmere, or jersey for more casual things. His bedding and pajamas are just the softest natural fiber he can find and he uses silk pillowcases.

5. What is your character's opinion on scars?

He doesn’t mind them in other people, but anything that mars his physical perception of himself is distressing.

6. How much interest does your character take in trends?

A little. He does love fashion, but usually relies on Astarion to tell him what's hot at the moment. Otherwise he just wears what he thinks is cute.

Not really. He and Kit dress to match fairly often but despite his issues he's generally alright with how he looks.

Dirt, but like, clean dirt. Literally rock, soil, fungus, but not unpleasant.

Nothing really. Not for himself, anyway, but if there's something he thinks his man would like he'll spend some coin. He doesn’t really get the concept of money anyway and kinda lives in a Disneyland of unlimited wealth, to his perspective.

White is his favorite because it's striking against his skin but he'll wear anything. He also likes pink.

Physical? No, other than a very apparent scar that is now healed, he's looked exactly the same since he's been an adult. Stylistic, yes. His previous garments were always chosen for him and usually consisted of a loin cloth, silks, ornaments, etc... anything that covers as little as possible while still being decorative and luxurious. He dresses more practical and fun now, unless he's performing.

13. What is something that your character would refuse to wear?

Polyester! Also anything made of rough fabric, bulky, or poorly made.

14. Is there a style your character is afraid they can't pull off?

Straight masc. He probably couldn't pull off average dude clothes, he's too fruity.

Yup, and he does all the time. Usually Astarion or Raphael.

It's a mixed bag really. He usually dresses and acts like a little gay boy and he is, but he's also one of the most dangerous assassins in the realms so that surprises people. Not terribly though because he is drow, so some people are generally suspicious anyway. He is both as cutesy sweet and as terrifying as he looks.

17. What are your character's thoughts on wearing costumes?

He likes it. Does it all the time for performances.

Yes. Tight white pants and a very fine pink cashmere turtleneck when it's chilly. Covers all his sensitive skin but shows off his body. When it's hot he'll wear any combination of crop top, tube top, booty or bike shorts. He also loves lingerie.

"Property of Cal" on his ass.

📦 Objects

1. Is there an item your character doesn't like to leave without?

His knife. He doesn’t take it everywhere, especially given how scantily he dresses most of the time because it straps to his back with a harness, but if he's traveling or going somewhere sketchy it's a must.

2. What gift would they give to someone they didn't like but felt obligated to?

A book, most likely. He's a librarian so he has access, and he could probably pick something that would subtly offend them while he just looks like an ignorant doofus.

3. What type of object is likely to catch your character's attention?

He likes cute and pretty things. Stuffed animals, flowers. He'd squeal over Kawaii stuff.

4. Is there an item your character liked that they can't get back?

Nothing important. He didn't really own anything before so objects don't have permanence to him.

Not on your life. Even if something is obviously overpriced if he really wants it he'll get it. He believes in paying people what they're worth and sometimes overpays so he can make sure they're getting it.

This is a spoiler specifically for @crowwolf, but he eventually comes into possession of one of those fantastic dancing hula girl lamps. That's the denouement of a future home furnishings war between him and Astarion though; he wouldn't cry if he lost it.

Nah. He doesn’t need much and he gives most of his money to Astarion to invest. He'd just keep more or take some back if he wants something expensive.

8. What would it take for your character to give up an item he really likes?

He doesn’t really care. He'll give up anything but his knife without it bothering him too much. Anything given by his family he'd try to hang onto though. If he gets a wedding ring you'd have to take it off his dead body.

Both. He prefers to give but he's always touched when someone thinks of him.

Utilitarian things designed without any nod to aesthetics. Form AND function should be important.

Depends on how close an acquaintance. If it's just a casual association, he's been given textbooks and histories, many of which are still in the wrappers. Well-meaning, but he's not really interested. Closer friends will know his taste in books or just get plushies or a cute top or something.

A little, sometimes. He talks to his stuffed animals, and his knife has a name and personality.

Books, clothes, cute decor and accessories.

Oh, made, definitely. He likes nice things but doesn’t actually care about them. Something that was made for him with any level of thought or effort he'd cherish. Cal made his wedding ring in the other story and they had to drug and beat him nearly to death to take it off him.

For objects? No, not really. His previous life was 100% transactional and he would never expect anything without paying for it somehow.

That he's having fun with his friends and looking at interesting things. He finds it tedious to shop for boring necessities.

Bittersweet. He's a genuinely kind person and tries to be nice as much as possible but his life has been hell and he has depressive episodes and the occasional very shocking display of anger. He can be the cutest most entertaining person in the room or the scariest.

Lil man doesn't cook lol. He eats single ingredient meals and smoothies. He also doesn't eat sugar or carbs so baking is out. He doesn’t drink either, but he's pretty good at alchemy so mixing drinks might be fun.

Ice cream. You squeezed that out of a cow, dumped in a bunch of sugar, and then froze it??? Utterly baffling to him. Plus he's cold-sensitive.

Pretty small. He only eats small meals or liquids and sometimes has to force himself to keep his weight appropriate.

5. Does your character consider eating fun?

Depends on his mood. He does enjoy some things but generally eating is a chore. I do have a scene coming up that I've titled "Dark Chocolate," however, so stay tuned for that.

Not unless he's being forced.

Yeah. He's lactose intolerant and doesn't handle sugar well. Caffeine also amps up his more chaotic traits and makes him hyper, angry, and/or unreasonably horny.

Home-cooked generally so he knows exactly what's going in it, but he'd never order anything complex or unfamiliar anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Not really. He's cool with lots of different squirmy slimy things. Possibly something like stringy tough meat or fibrous vegetables would be annoying.

1. What would your character do if they were suddenly caught in the rain?

Cover his hair with something and grumble if it's cold. Kit can sometimes coax him into enjoying it if it's warm.

Ryldinn’s likes animals and he can talk to them, but he has a special relationship with rats. They'll hang out with him and help him if he asks. He's also friends with a displacer beast, if that's considered an animal.

He hates the cold but also doesn't like the sun because it hurts his eyes and he can't see well. I'd still probably say summer though. The sun warms, but it can also burn. He's an intense sort of guy and he's aware of that. His personal favorite are summer nights, of course. Dark and warm.

4. Is there a natural phenomenon that scares your character?

Earthquake, mainly because he lived underground for so long.

5. Has your character ever had an animal phase?

He does have the ability to basically turn everything off but his animal brain. If he goes super deep into that he has all the warmth and compassion of a crocodile.

As long as it's at night, he loves it.

Supernatural, almost. He grew up underground, with no real way to judge cardinal directions, so he wouldn't be able to say "we're heading north," but if he says "that way," he's always right.

He's still the most comfortable not under the open sky, especially in the daytime. He gets a bit of agoraphobia. So he does still enjoy caves, and is usually found indoors during the day with the curtains closed, unless he's with people he trusts.

Very much so.

Disgust and betrayal, lol. How dare frozen water fall from the sky?!

11. What part of nature would your character most resonate with?

Caves and fungi.

Yup. He's a ranger, so he's resourceful. He's a hunter and a stalker and is good at staying undetected.

Ryldinn is not just one thing, really. He doesn’t have multiple personalities specifically, but he can kind of partition off the two sides of his personality. One the one hand, he is calm and soothing to be around and emotional in a quiet way, and he goes with the flow. On the other hand, he's utterly rooted, cold, immovable and stubborn. So a confluence of water and earth maybe, but I'm going to delve a little deeper into alchemical elements and consider quicksilver, because he can also switch between those two attitudes easily. He's always in a state of flux between them, with the extremes being more rare. Only Kitalia sees his most vulnerable side; he even protects Cal from the worst of it, and doesn’t trust Raphael or Astarion enough. Few people see his other side as well, and rarely live to tell about it.

14. Does your character prefer hot or cold weather?

Hot, definitely. Ryldinn is always chilly. Cold weather requires an infernal to cuddle, or at least frequent hot baths and lots of sweaters and blankets. He tends to hang out in Avernus more in the winter.

15. Is there a creature that scares your character?

Yes. Driders. Not necessarily because he thinks they're a danger to him specifically, but he had been threatened in his past with being turned into one. He's known a few and the thought is horrifying to him so he has killed every one he's been able to. He's very sad and sympathetic where he isn't with most people he kills, but that's one of the few things he will destroy just for existing.

16. What celestial body would interest your character the most?

The Moon. It was literally the first thing he saw when he came to the surface and doesn't hurt his eyes. He has a soft spot for Selune as well, becoming her Chosen in one of my other stories, and he adores Dame Aylin.

No! Lol he's pretty clueless. Kit is always rescuing houseplants well-meaning people give him as gifts. Dude doesn't open the curtains so they're always dying. He can grow fungi though.

He'd have to find a very protected place. He's been known to burrow under roots and go in hollow trees or into tight piles of rock. He's more used to caves. Doesn't like being out in the open.

Solitude. He doesn’t like other people to perceive weakness in him.

Something on the smaller side that includes people he likes. Art gallery openings, intimate cocktail parties, girls nights. He can turn it on for bigger things but would rather be surrounded by friends than strangers.

He can't sing anything louder or more complicated than a lullaby, but he's a ballet and pole dancer and he'd do that naked.

Most people never know what he's really thinking and feeling. He will open up eventually but it takes a lot of time and trust and only Kitalia knows the majority of what he's going through.

He's pretty competent with first aid and he can stop himself from feeling pain. He's also an elf so he has resistance to disease and infection. But if he couldn't handle it himself and he was conscious he'd call Raphael. Ryldinn has never been without a handler of some sort.

Absolutely fine, in general. He doesn’t enjoy it, but he can turn on his charm and perform for the crowd.

Kitalia. She's the first person he ever met who wasn't trying to use or manipulate him in some way, and she's not freaked out if he does or says something insane.

I don't actually think he's ever done that. Astarion and he were thrown together by Raphael, and Kitalia just sort of showed up. He introduced himself to Cal and pursued that, but he was specifically trying to get a particular type of boyfriend.

In Avernus with Raphael. It's the place he feels safest because Raph is basically the only person he doesn’t feel the need to protect and he can relax.

Not really. He does have a few of Astarion’s speech patterns, but most things he does habitually are born out of his previous life and have little to do with anyone he knows on the surface. His diet, exercise, skincare, the books he reads, etc. Nobody else really does that.

He does. More than he believes.

He can do it but he prefers to work alone. He's not particularly a team player when it comes to serious business.

Most likely, yes. Basic and advanced first aid, combat medicine, etc. He can keep you alive, at least temporarily, if anyone can. He can also make medicines from fungi and is learning plants. No magical healing powers though.

It would be a tossup between Raphael (he'd be wrong) and Kitalia (correct).

Hmmmm kinda want to say no. If it's something he doesn't think he could handle on his own he'd be reluctant to involve anyone else. He does have a tendency to insist that he can do it all himself. Kitalia sees through his bullshit and often tags along though. Astarion as well, on occasion.

Kitalia first, and then Cal to decorate it pretty.

Not very well. It really depends on personality but he has little patience for incompetence. If it's something he knows he's better at he's more likely to just disappear and return with the task finished.

Yes. Even as a human in our world he would. He's susceptible to what we call magical thinking. He'd likely be into astrology or energy healing as well. In the world he currently inhabits all that stuff is real.

Not that he knows of.

Depends on the situation. If he does sleep, which is rare, he usually feels safe enough to go a little deeper, but usually it's a light trance with partial awareness.

He does, but some of it has been programmed into him.

Seek it. Even though he is independent and likes to work alone, he is aware of his mental and social limitations. He's also reluctant to give advice to others for that reason.

He loves a hot bath. Just all floaty and warm and clean. Other than that, cuddling with his peeps and chatting or reading a book.

14. Is there a secret thing your character longs to hear?

"I'm sorry." From his mother and the people who abused him, and more recently from someone else, but he doesn't expect it and would never mention it.

15. Does your character have a sleep routine?

Ryldinn meditates about 4 hours a day, and sometimes splits it up to work around his schedule. If he has a real day off or is with his boyfriend he'll rest more and even sleep occasionally. He's a very high-performance person so he's usually running on a bit of a deficit.

16. Would your character feel confident in a fight?

Absolutely. Ryldinn hasn't lost a fight since he was a child.

Night.

18. How often does your character have nightmares?

Rarely. The mental block that keeps him from thinking about distressing things follows him into trance, usually. More programming. He might have nightmares if he sleeps and lets go of that bit of control, but he'd be in a safe place or he wouldn't do it. He'd never actually sleep alone.

19. Are there scents your character dislikes?

Just the stuff that most people do. City smells, garbage, fried food, body odor, waste and decay. Doesn't like onions or garlic. Mostly just the miasma of multiple unwashed humans though, because he likes the smell of some people when they're sweaty and musky. General dirt, natural smells, barnyard and low tide, mildew and fungus etc, don't bother him though.

20. Is there a fear that your character wants to learn to overcome?

Ryldinn has always had someone telling him what to do, either overtly or subtly. He's afraid of real independence and making decisions for himself. Choosing to go for Cal was a huge step and it could have gone horrifically badly but he trusted his instincts or at least his boner and it worked out.

Sort of. It's more that he can just shut it off temporarily. He's trained to resist torture, but he does get headaches and his skin is pretty sensitive. He also enjoys pain, in certain circumstances.

1. What kind of games does your character most enjoy playing?

Ryldinn would like more physical games, mainly, but low/no contact. Bowling, darts, archery, etc. He can play tennis and stuff. Board games would probably confuse him. He can't play Lanceboard. He can ride a horse so he'd probably be good at polo.

2. Does your character have a secret hobby?

He likes to sneak away and go swimming in natural bodies of water. Alone and naked in the dark. He's rarely actually alone though because he tends to get spied on my mermaids and other creatures.

3. What is a talent your character wishes they had?

Negotiation. He has all the physical skills he wants, but he usually either agrees or refuses something outright when a bit of haggling might be more beneficial. Luckily he has several very good negotiators to help him, but they aren't always entirely on his side in a few cases.

4. Is there an activity your character used to enjoy that they now dislike?

Nothing casual that I can think of. He used to really like killing people, but there was some bizarre psychology there so I'm not sure if that counts.

Work. He has several "jobs" even though he doesn’t get paid for some and unless his family needs him he'll be doing that until someone tells him to stop.

Creative. He's a dancer and likes making art with his body. He can't sing or draw or anything but he doesn't understand many technical things at all.

7. What is a talent that your character is proud of?

Dancing. Anything that lets him move his body in interesting ways he enjoys and is very good at.

Indoorsy, sort of. He likes enclosed spaces, but he's fine outside at night. In the day he needs friends nearby to have fun because he can't see well.

Ryl doesn't think like normal people do. He can stare at a wall for hours and think about literally nothing, and he rarely leads any casual conversation. He does love to learn about people though, so he could happily listen to you talk about yourself all day.

Not really. He's bad at some things but he knows it and compensates.

Not that he's willing to share, in general. He ignores most injuries as irrelevant and the ones he doesn’t were traumatic and he's reluctant to discuss it.

12. What kind of music does your character enjoy?

Kitalia's singing, foremost. Haunting and beautiful. But I think in his current situation he'd be a new wave guy who also digs stuff like Enya. I don't think he'd be into heavy metal and wouldn't be able to follow rap unless it was in drow.

Yup. He does alchemy. He can make disguise potions, minor healing and strengthening, poisons and antidotes, various other things. He's devised a quick and painless potion for assassinations because he's generally gentle nowadays even when he's killing fools.

If it's just for fun? Nah. The rules don't matter as long as everyone is playing by the same ones. His willingness to be shady increases with the stakes.

15. How good is your character at following through on projects?

Excellent. Just wind him up and press go. It'll get done.

16. What is an activity that reminds your character of someone else?

Ryldinn had a kind of servant in the UD, even though he was a slave. A deep gnome who's task was to bathe him, apply his skin oils, do his hair and decorate him for clients. They weren't friends or lovers, but the guy was gentle amd respectful with him and he remembers that fondly when he's doing that sort of thing.

17. Does your character prefer music or silence?

In his apartment it's either silence or nature sounds usually. Something very quiet. If he goes out he likes music and dancing.

Certain parts of his past. He's pragmatic about most of it and isn't ashamed of most of what he's done, but a few encounters haunt him and he prefers to block it out.
