Thank you weird dream for the uh "scifi horror+hades persephone" story featuring:

Zeus and Demeter's daughter being on life support and one day Zeus gives up and has the doctor take her off, lying that Demeter has also given permission as well

Demeter being reasonably upset and slightly less reasonably forcing the doctor to go all Victor Frankenstein to bring her daughter back

The girl now in a state of half dead half alive that does not fully satisfy Demeter, but is close enough at least to prevent any further mass destruction

The original myth was Wrong and Problematic and you’re Bad if you enjoyed learning about it, but don’t worry, I rewrote it to make it Good

I hate history, I hate reading, I hate the classics, and I especially hate ancient Greece. I did zero research whatsoever for this project and I have no respect for the source material or the field in general, and I’m very proud of that

WOW what a good year for art!!!! I'm really proud of all the stuff I made :D

I made so so so much progress this year alone, I don't think I've made more digital art in any other year than this one. Post of the year award goes to this painting, which is the best thing I have ever made and everyone should go look at it again. Search through #art of fae to find all of these works, in fact!

I guess my only goal for next year is to keep up the good work! Commissions will be open again soon, I have so much more stuff in the works rn, I haven't felt this positive about my work ever. It's going to be an amazing 2023. <333

for context: this is a high school au, Poseidon is a sophomore and Hades is a junior.

Poseidon was actually going to a party? well, sort of. He was more or less dragged here by his classmates because they were starting to think he was boring, and that just wouldn’t do. He is supposed to be a model of perfection.

As much power as he had, he was definitely not the most socially equipped person ever. So for the majority of the party, he stood off to the side and drank the punch. But the punch tasted different, it had a strange, sweet taste to it. So he got another drink. and another, and another, and the next thing he knew he was on the floor and the room was spinning. The music kept blaring and it caused his ears to ring. With his mind in a haze, he stumbled outside and tried to walk home. Unfortunately, walking home and being hammered doesn’t usually work out well. So, in a moment of defeat, he called his older brother to come and get him.

phone rings

“…Hello?”

“h-Hey… uhhh hic can you umm… come, like, pick me up?”

“dude, it’s like 11:30 at night, where the fuck are you? aren’t you at that party?”

“y-yeah hic buuuut, i don’t feel right….. i wanna come home…”

“no one can drive you home?…”

“nnnooooooo, everyone is acting funny…. i don’t trust em…”

“sigh, stay where you are, i’ll be there soon.”

With that Hades hopped out of bed and into his car and went to pick up his younger brother. This was extremely out of character for him. As he drove, Hades began to worry, if Poseidon was calling him for a ride then something must have happened right? a few blocks away from the house the party was at, he could see the navy blue sweater of his brother in the headlights. Hades pulled over and ran to his younger sibling.

“Poseidon!? Are you okay? what the fuck are you doing here?!”

“i- hic i-” the boy couldn’t get a full sentence in before he upchucked the pizza that was served at the party.

“HOLY SHIT DUDE WHAT THE HELL?!?”

“i…i’m sorry…”

“hey, hey, it’s alright. c’mon, let’s get you home.”

It was a bumpy drive back home, halfway through, they had to stop so Poseidon didn’t ruin the interior of the car. When they got home, Hades helped his stumbling brother into the house and to the bathroom. He held his younger brother’s hair back as he upchucked the food and spiked punch.

“y’know, hic, i know i’m not good enough….”

“what?”

“i’m supposed to be a model of perfection…. and now look at me… i’m fucking pathetic haha…”

“who said you were pathetic? you didn’t know the punch was spiked, it happens to everyone at least once.” Hades pulled his brother in for a hug.

“it doesn’t make you any less perfect if you ask for help when you need it.”

with that, Poseidon felt himself crumble in his older brother’s arms. Without thinking clearly, he let the tears pour out while babbling incoherently, trying to articulate what he felt. Hades just held him, rubbing small circles on his back, and reassured him it was okay. after about 30 minutes of tears, Poseidon fell quiet. Hades looked down at his little brother in his arms, sleeping like a baby. He let out a soft sigh and carried his brother to bed.

“rest easy, dear brother…”

just woke up from a nightmare in which i was in my final week of high school and someone had told the whole school that i use pronouns and EVERYONE was making fun of me. apparently they found a piece of paper that was an English assignment in which we wrote stuff about ourselves and one of the questions was asking what pronouns we use, and i was only one who answered the question. i ran through the hallways crying as everyone laughed at me, and went into classrooms screaming and destroying the property. and when i reached my English teachers classroom, i blamed her for what happened because i thought she showed someone the paper and that’s how the word got around, but it wasn’t her fault. someone probably just found it on the desk and took a picture when she wasn’t looking. and then she calmed me down and let me play Hades while i waited to be picked up or something.

I had wayyy to much fun with this AU. High school AU's are just so fun lol

- since Charlie's a teen, she's still in her emo phase. She's president of the Drama Club and was distraught that Alastor gave her Orpheus instead of Hades to play. She wanted to be the cool king of the underworld...

- Vaggie used to be the softball team's pitcher until an accident caused her to lose her eye. Now with an impaired eye sight, she had to make an early retirement from sports and got persuaded to join the Drama Club

- Charlie's been harboring a crush on Vaggie ever since she first saw her play her first game, which Lucifer initially had to drag her to. After that, Charlie's been willingly going with him to every home game, under the impression that his daughter has suddenly gotten into the good ol' school spirit.

- Charlie was the one who got Vaggie to the hospital when she got in the accident that cost her her eye. Charlie always visited her while she recovered, and Vaggie fought off catching feelings because Charlie's the principal's daughter. She failed.

- Alastor casts Vaggie as Eurydice in their club's adaptation of Hadestown so Charlie could stop moping about being casted as Orpheus and so Lucifer can get off his back about making his daughter sad. Vaggie agrees just so she can be closer to Charlie.
