okay no see the thing that made me really, really sad about hinata and the thing that made me really, really root for him and love him and want to see him win it all was how, like, people kept DENYING him. and i'm not talking about spectators in the stands going "omg he's so short haha, can he really do anything?" i'm talking about how his own team and how everyone who knew them in some way - as much as i love them - could never really separate him from kageyama. they were the freak quick duo, karasuno's number nine and number ten. they were amazing! so brilliant, the two of them. and hinata thought it was a way out, at first. he thought it was a way over the summit. he thought it was the key to being someone better.
but a key goes both ways, you know. it can lock you up just as much as it can set you free.
and hinata had to be so, so frustrated. everyone was finding ways to move forward except him. everyone expected him to stay stuck. and you could argue that that's not entirely true, sure, that he was always training, always trying to catch up, and they encouraged that. but nobody ever expected him to be more. nobody ever expected him to go beyond what he had with kageyama - they all thought that was enough for hinata. they thought he was fine like that because it worked for the rest of them. they underestimated how much he wanted to be capable. they didn't get how much he wanted to stand on his own two feet.
and that wasn't fair to hinata! it wasn't fair that hinata, who loved to play and loved the game and loved volleyball so so much, was the only one being left behind! he wanted to change that but nobody was trying with him!!! so of course he got impatient!! of course he was reckless!!! of course he was carving his own opportunities!!! there was no way forward otherwise!!! because if we take a minute to think about how training would have gone while kageyama was at tokyo, let's be honest — it probably wouldn't have gone well. nobody else can do with hinata what kageyama could do with him. hinata would have been held back. he would have felt useless. practicing serves and receives was stuff he was already doing constantly before that, and it wasn't teaching him anything. yeah hinata was a little bit selfish and a little bit shameless but being so finally got him somewhere!!
all hinata ever wanted to do was fly, even if it meant straying from the flock to do so

"About the Blogger" Meme
Thanks to @all-inmoderation @bioloyg & @imliterallyjustablackgirl for tagging me! ❤️
Star Sign(s):
Sagittarius Sun, Virgo Moon, Pisces Rising <- What does it all mean? No idea! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite Holidays:
Eid, Divali & Christmas <- Not for religious considerations, I associate them with having lots of delicious food, which is precious to me. 🤰🏽
Last Meal:
A slice of pawpaw (papaya), stew chicken, black eyed peas, white rice and sorrel juice. <- #grateful thanks mom 😔
Current Favorite Musician:
Khruangbin because Mark, Laura and DJ are all super talented and disciplined musicians, but also because I want the band's lead guitarist, Mark Speer and the bassist, Laura Lee, but especially Mark Speer, in ways that would shock and alarm you, like IDK anything about his personal life, but I think I'd combust if I met him. Mark if you're reading this that smut chapter in my songfic WIP was only possible because I just know you're good with your-[GUNSHOTS] <- He's not reading this, finish the meme! 😤
Last Music Listened To:
Total Control by The Motels for a The Bear meta post that I did and Hope Tala's "All My Girl's Like To Fight' from my small playlist of songs that I headcanon that Syd and Carmy from The Bear (2022) listen to. The playlist serves as a writing aid for me because regardless of the actual musical tastes of Syd and Carmy in the show's canon, this is a small sample of what the two of them like to listen to as I've characterized them in my fic.
Last Movie Watched:
Precious (2009) I was traumatizing myself and [SPOILERS]
Carmen Berzatto in my WIP fic, because Syd insults him using a gif from the movie and Carmy ends up watching this film so he'd understand the reference because he is a loser and is obsessed with his totally platonic coworker and he wants to know everything about her. 😔
Last TV Show Watched:
Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, @devisrina convinced me, but I haven't finished watching it yet and I'm not to sure when I'll resume because The Bear and Sydcarmy still have me in thrall. 😔
Last Book/Fic Finished:
Last book finished, Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson. Last fic finished.....I shan't say - I'll describe it though - it was a seedy, sketchy, funny, smutty, crack ship one shot gag fic on AO3. I'm ashamed of myself, some of those words in that fic were in The Bible, but chile........anyways. Moving on!
Last Book/Fic Abandoned:
Last book I stopped reading - Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson - Dalinar Kholin, you stupid cunt, why do you always-[GUNSHOTS] <-Girl walk away from the book if it's stressing you that bad, c'mon now - the fictional character's dumb decisions can't hurt you. I'm actually planning on finishing it someday, but I watched The Bear when I was a quarter of the way through the book and now I am totally useless for almost everything else.
Currently Reading:
Ten Myths About Israel by Ilan Pappe, get a free ebook copy of it here while you can. Also the Gaza Diary by Ziad, a 35 year old Palestinian man.
Last Thing Researched for Art/Writing/Hyperfixation:
High blood pressure and pregnancy, and maternity leave in the US of A, and before that CBT case studies and CPTSD and ADHD, and before that meningitis and sepsis. <- All for my current Sydcarmy WIP.
Favorite Online Fandom Memory:
The day Richonne went canon, or rather that era. <- Love it when racists suffer, schadenfreude can be something so personal. 🥴
Favorite Old Fandom You Wish Would Drag You Back In/Have A Resurgence:
I want Star Wars and BNHA to be good, but alas....Next question. <- Anyways these franchise/series are making money hand over fist still, nobody cares if I never care about them again, but I do love the ship Inko Midoriya/All Might from BNHA and I ship UkaTake from Haikyuu!! <- I had a lot of fun in that niche marketplace for a time.
Favorite Thing You Enjoy That Never Had an Active or Big "Fandom" but You Wish It Did:
The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery FUCKS severely - I'm glad that it got a boost on here with The Blue Castle Book Club. Ms. Montgomery put her whole pussy into that book, every single cell and I relate to the book's protagonist, Valancy, quite a lot.
Also, The Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner has a smallish, but fairly active following on Tumblr, but it deserves the energy that is devoted to some more popular YA fantasy/historical novel series. <- All of these books are re-readable af, 10/10 no notes.
Tempting Project You're Trying to Reign In/Don't Have Time For:
No such thing because I am unemployed. <- have mercy on me O God! It's been the first year of my adult life that I haven't been in university or running myself through the gristmill of capital and I feel trapped and anxious and fed the fuck up. I hate it here, goddamn!
Sorry to end on such a bummer of a note, but thank you for reading if you've read this far and please, regardless of if you were tagged, play along if you can! I've seen a lot of my mutuals tagged in these things before, so apologies if you've already done this, but*
@vacationship @anxietycroissant @bulabujalam @tvfantic87 @devisrina @dreadfuldevotee @mod-doodles <- please come back to me, Mod, darling, I miss you! 🥲 @jub-jub @pureseasalt <- bestie I miss you too! @ashluvsu4ever @cchickki @parrradiseeee @margaery-bonaparte-said-so @seleneofthejungle @prowitchazel @gardenianoire @artemis0404 @polymorphposting @hauntedstrawberrygiver @justabovewater20 @monetbonet @sab-teraa @agoodworkerdoes @melfinawins @melaninerd @iwantadecentblogname @persephonelovesbooks @november-rising @yannaryartside @bitchqueenofthebitchsquad @waywarddeee @myelegieseulogizeme @paddington22017 @ruethrills @techliche @erins-quinn @sydcarmyfan @lunasink @perkedelktg @couldbemaybe @msmoiraine @darkostudios-blog @angelica4equity @theonlyamazingtazmin @mswyrr @chansoooo1-blog

Hi hi my love!! ^^ So you asked for asks right? :3 I realize a lot of the times when I send you these I tend to ask you to rank stuff lol so I guess I'll lean into it? How about top 5 (or 10 if you have enough) anime series or top 5 (or 10) animated movies? :3 It's pretty general but I figure it should give you a lot of room to go over some of your favorites ^^ Sending love and good wishes!!! ❤️
ehehe thank you my love 🥺👉👈🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
i wanted to do both but then i did the top 5 anime and i got very carried away with my explanations so i kept it as just that. anyway:
1. haikyuu!! probably my favorite show ever tbh. i think hq has a perfect story, like it uses its genre to do everything right, and its impact on the outside world is amazing as well. as for the series itself, it's just beautiful (ignoring that one episode in season 4) and has a very unique style, stellar voice acting, awesome soundtrack, delicious symbolism, and it really gets you hyped for volleyball :P it's very easy to get attached even to the most minor character bc the story is written in a way that lets almost everyone in this HUGE cast (well over a 100 or even 150 named characters, i'm pretty sure) shine, and you're guaranteed to find someone you like. the only downside is you'll probably end up rooting for every team so eventually a team you like will lose a game (likely to another team you like) and that hurts every time fr. and still!!!!! it manages to be so feel-good and optimistic and really gets you pumped and inspired!!!! i think anyone who is even just open to try sports anime should check it out, it's def one of the most accessible I've seen in that genre (in a sense that it doesn't expect you to already be familiar with the sport to understand the story)
2. honestly?? osomatsu-san. probably bc it's very dear to me like emotionally, season 2 was still releasing when i was stuck in the hospital for a few months, and it was like a light i held onto every week (i was also following a few mangas back then but those were harder to follow. due to oso-san's skit nature it was always a good time) and i mean, ichi was my first f/o before i even knew that term existed hehe. it's one of these shows i wouldn't actually recommend to anyone unless i know they're ok with gross or edgy humor but i do think it's really good, i love how meta it is, and i think it uses its premise to deliver maximum entertainment!
(oh my god that was so much gushing abt a silly skit show i am so sorry <- guy who wrote most of the hq gushing after typing this part up. he was not aware)
3. ok so this one's really niche, idk if any of you have even heard of it heh. it's called bungou stray dogs-
ajdkflhlh while i have my gripes with how they adapt the manga, i do still think it's a very good anime as is. it was good enough to get me hooked on the story and characters and want to learn more and follow the story further, yknow? it's beautiful and i love its use of colors for symbolism, it has really great voice acting, and the energy is kept up throughout it enough to remain engaging. it's honestly a show I'd recommend everyone to at least try 🤔!
4. persona 4!!!! from one mediocre adaptation to a GREAT adaptation. i think p4's anime is really really well made - it manages to translate a game this long into a coherent and interesting story, gives its characters time to shine, and maintains a perfect balance between fun and emotions. also it has probably the best dub I've ever heard. naoto's anime voice dni. also i think episode 26 is a true masterpiece i think everyone should watch it
5. ngl. it's a three way tie for me. between shows i only watched once and don't have a lot of attachment to beyond that, but i think they're really good for very different reasons. gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun / great pretender / blue period. i won't go into details on why i love them all bc this post is already long enough. but if you're reading this you should check them out 🫡
also if this post convinces you to check out any show mentioned here you legally have to tell me ok? esp if you end up liking it 🧐🔥🔥

I was outlining a new fic idea over FaceTime with my best friend and the ao3 tag she comes up with to describe it was “iwaoi gain self actualization through helping kagehina” and god, what a line!! this is deeply incoherent but the complexities and nuance contained in kagehina and iwaoi as parallels and foils (as individual characters and relationships) really are the driving force of my brain rot.
we have the setter spiker connection, of course, and the two seijoh karasuno matches really drive it home. Oikawa and Tobio comment on the similarities themselves (when backed into a corner they’ll always set to their partner!! that’s why they can read each other so well! also iwaoi’s reaction to “as long as I’m here, you’re invincible is peak, ok) and then later we have the time skip with Oikawa and Hinata both going abroad to Argentina and Brazil to further develop their skills. we have Oikawa and Hinata being drawn together through their hunger for volleyball, the struggles of being alone in a foreign country, and their connection to Tobio as forces that challenge and better him (they are his two biggest influences after all!!). they forge their own independent relationship on that beach and it’s equal parts and hilarious.
Iwa’s role in this is so fascinating as well because there’s so much there that’s hinted at. I could write volumes on iwaoi but I love love love the little glimpses we see about his relationship with Tobio—aka I make fanon mountains out of canon molehills. He’s a good senpai!!! We all know about That Scene™️ and how he defends Tobio; Tobio, hilariously, seems to only remember Iwa’s declaration of “the best team of six wins” and not much before that. Tobio respects him so much and thinks he’s cool! Iwa shakes his hand, ever gracious in defeat when they play for the second time. They lovingly insult and throw their best friends across the room in the same way (am I saying that Iwaoi greatly informed how Tobio views volleyball and relationships? Yes. Come on now, they must have spent a lot of time in the kitagawa gym together before and after practice. He chases after them and there’s that one panel of iwaoi graduating from kitagawa that I’m pretty sure is included in tobio’s flashbacks/backstory in the blackadler match). Who else can relate to Tobio’s mixed feelings about Brazil arc but Iwa? There’s also the fun bonus of Iwa being solely in Tobio’s corner at this point; tobio and shoyou share most of the same friends which could lead to a potential conflict of interest (God help yacchan, tadashi, tsukki, and suga when these morons argue) but tobio can reliably confide in Iwa without it getting back to Shoyou. the possibilities of iwakage friendship/mentorship are endless and I’m here to scream about it, whether it on the Japan national team, middle school, or during the time skip. I also think the dynamic between Iwa, Tobio, and Oikawa is so interesting (jealousy, affection, respect, resentment, oh my) and when you throw Hinata in the mix it’s even more fun.
I have some more vague thoughts on Hinata and Iwa as parallels that go into more angsty territory, particularly about self-worth and how the seijoh karasuno matches mirror each other in the last point. my boys are sad!! they couldn’t make the last point count!! their volleyball careers are different yet similar as they take unconventional paths to fulfill this promises to their respective setter soulmate. in a way, we have kagehina achieving what iwaoi was unable to, which is part of the reason I think kagehina getting together first is an excellent catalyst for iwaoi self reflection time. we have kagehina getting to nationals together and standing on the world stage side by side at the Olympics. Iwaoi are on opposite ends of the court, separated but still connected nonetheless.
I’ll probably add more to this as I write more of my fic/reread the manga and rewatch the anime, but TLDR; kagehina and iwaoi are my favorite relationships in haikyuu and they’re constantly rattling around in my noggin in the worst game of pinball ever.

tsukishima meta..... 2!!
so a little bit ago i went off in this post about tsukishima and why i think he is the way he is and how his horrendous attitude during the show is a sign of his horrendous self-esteem and his fear of caring too much. and now i want to talk about how that feeds into the infamous but iconic running gag/character beat of “shut up yamaguchi”/”sorry, tsukki!”
this post got super long, so everything is below the cut!!! a lot of what i say in this post is based on the previous one, so def read that first.
at first this whole interaction and dynamic bugged me. how could someone as sweet and hardworking as yamaguchi stay friends with standoffish, mean, lazy tsukishima? tadashi deserves better!
and then i thought about it more. how we know the behavior we see of kei throughout the first few seasons of haikyuu is unusual for him. how kei gradually grows more and more sullen, moody, and withdrawn throughout the first and second seasons. how yamaguchi is concerned and worried for him.
we know tsukishima’s self-esteem sucks. it’s bad. we see that established in how he thinks about himself and volleyball. but i think we truly see how low he’s sunk in his interactions with yamaguchi. that’s where we realize what an internal wreck he’s become.
so to start, we know tsukishima isn’t just walking around telling yamaguchi to shut up every time he talks. we see plenty of examples of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and there are other examples! they’re friends!!!! equally snide and kinda little shits. tsukishima is definitely the meaner of the two, but yamaguchi is down with that. he plays along. tsukishima isn’t telling him to shut up all the time. so when does that start? and how?
at the start of the season, he’s moody and a little dismissive, sure. i’m not saying this is a good character trait, or that he’s not a bit of a jerk. he’s 15.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but as time goes by, we start to see the rise of the “shut up, yamaguchi”/”sorry, tsukki” interaction as it plays out time and again. and i started to realize that tsukishima doesn’t just say that whenever he wants to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tsukishima doesn’t tell yamaguchi to shut up willy-nilly. he says it specifically whenever yamaguchi is saying something nice about him. whenever yamaguchi is proud of him, is excited for him, is sticking up for him, is happy to see him and spend time with him. it’s a fascinating verbal expression of his own low self-esteem.
don’t be happy for me, tsukishima is telling yamaguchi when he tells him to shut up. don’t be proud of me. don’t encourage me or cheer me on. i don’t matter. i’m not a good player. i’m nothing special. i’m not, i’m not, i’m not.
i had a lot of thoughts about the tsukishima/yamaguchi fight scene the first time i watched it. i thought it was abrupt and kind of out-of-character. but on my second watch, i realized it was actually a confrontation a long time coming.
like. please watch the full scene again because the build-up is fascinating. screenshots will have to suffice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
that little “and” is what really did it for yamaguchi, i think. the final straw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that? that is the face of a man and a friend who has had just about enough of this. which is why he really lets tsukishima have it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and again here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think it’s really telling that this fight isn’t yamaguchi calling tsukishima a massive tool after he’s been a snide, mean little prick for the entire series up to that point. which, frankly, i think he would have the right to do a little, since he has not been fun to be friends with lately. but yamaguchi doesn’t do that. he doesn’t call tsukishima out beyond calling him lame a few times.
he calls tsukishima tall. he says he has brains. he has instinct. he is a good player, naturally gifted in mind and body, and he could be so much better if he let himself try. if he opened himself up to caring, to the possibility of being hurt.
yamaguchi screams because he won’t let tsukishima tell him to shut up. he shakes him so he will listen and maybe have some sense knocked into him. he grasps onto tsukishima and when he knows there is nowhere for him to run, no way to deflect, no way to tell him to shut up, he tells him:
you are incredible. you are gifted. you are capable. i believe in you. you are worth the effort. this is worth the effort. i care about you.
and you are going to listen to me.
and that is what breaks tsukishima of this funk. that is what convinces him to get off his ass and try. to do something. it’s by no means a smooth, linear process. but it’s yamaguchi’s words that finally break this pattern and give tsukishima a path forward.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(also, that scene with yamaguchi yelling at tsukishima takes place right after we see the moon covered by clouds. and since “moon” in Japanese is “tsuki,” we see all the running analogies of him and the moon, and having yamaguchi run up on tsukishima to scream the sense back into him when the moon is covered....  and then it came back out after yamaguchi said his piece.... poetic cinema. the animators of this show were geniuses.)
and it’s once tsukishima has had the sense screamed back into him that we see his self esteem start to improve. he learns to take a freaking compliment, for starters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(feat. hinata rolling on the floor screaming, which was such a good character moment.)
and he, in turn, can finally support yamaguchi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s a long and difficult journey. but together, they forge a path forward - as people, as friends - and continue to bring out the best in each other.
Tumblr media
(screenshots are pulled from here and here.)

How haikyuu characters would play genshin impact:
//featuring me nerding out about mbti types 😔
Karasuno
Hinata
As an ESFP he would probably choose his main based on who feels good to use
Quick movements, lots of jumping, strong = XIAO MAIN (probably finds the flashiness and edginess cool and enjoys the button mashing too)
would aggressively compete with kageyama on who can beat spiral abyss the fastest and with the shortest time
unfortunately they’re both not very good (initially because kenma helps him out after)
Would try to follows the plot but dialogue goes over his head
Does not understand stats other than attack at first
Wish impulse is real and never has any primos
would attempt to talk to every npc
Kageyama
META SLAVE
Has no idea what wishing/gacha is at first and builds his starters really well
Then he found out and currently mains Ganyu, Zhongli, Hutao for the big numbers
gloats about his first 5 star to hinata
Does not talk to NPCs at all and barely digs into the story
only there for spiral abyss and to make his characters stronger
Tsukishima
Didn’t wanna play until yamaguchi dragged him in to have someone to co op with
Appreciates the story and lore more than the gameplay aspect
Eula, razor (cv uchiyama kouki) main—easy to build, easy to use
Doesn’t care about wishing either
Got Eula by accident and now holds it over kageyama’s head
Has really good artifact RNG that it infuriates kagehina (gloats about it to fan the flame 😚)
Yamaguchi
he’s infp he chooses based on characters he likes 🥺
Diluc, albedo, ayaka main
(i can’t explain why I think he’d like those three, it just Makes Sense)
Co ops with tsukki and yachi, plays both dps and support
Spiral abyss makes him anxious but he pushes through anyway!!
Daichi
Starter team king 😩
Feels bad about switching his regular team out FJDFJDJJDDJ DAICHI
Probably a casual player though
Plays to coop with suga and tanaka but they carry him through domains
he’s trying his best
Suga
Mains based on whoever’s fun to play too!!
but enjoys more of a challenge
Childe main
Waiting for Scaramouche to drop hAha 🥲 and harbingers in general
Appreciates the plot and is very interested in lore!!
Diligently does spiral abyss
Doesn’t quite wish on impulse, but if theres a character he likes he’ll spend everything on their banner
Asahi
Does not play, got too scared (see: haikyuu ova)
Nishinoya
Rolls VERY much on impulse
Similar to hinata in that he also likes playing playstyles that feel good
Xiao and/or yoimiya main
(xiao because he’s short jk)
Probably raised Rosaria and planned to use her
Plot who???? we only care about world exploration and fighting in this house
Tanaka
wished for all the women, raised all the women, uses all the women
valid
Primarily mains Rosaria, ningguang and Lisa though
sorry beidou you remind him of his sister too much
waiting for signora like many of us are
Coops with noya and has INSANELY bad rng luck
Yachi
Also chooses based on characters’ personalities
gay, mains sucrose and jean
isfj child and probably feels bad about the underrated characters :(
uses amber, xinyan and qiqi too!
Raises all characters but hasn’t raised anyone to 90
Coops with yamaguchi and uses jean (as healer, support, damage dealer)
Talks to NPCs and sympathizes with their sad backstories
Gets too anxious to do spiral floors 9-12 too (mood)
Seijoh
Oikawa
Oh boy
this ENFJ 3w2 guy? you KNOW he’s gonna be the best
As long as it doesn’t clash with volleyball of course
Very VERY competitive in abyss
Has one character hed get attached to but doesn’t limit himself to using them only
Incredibly focused on team synergy, carefully crafts teams to bring out the best in each character
Tests best damage output too
But also he’d probably use meta characters and secretly raise the ones he actually likes?
Current fave: Yoimiya
Uses strong characters for coop but uses his faves for single player domains (or coop with iwaizumi)
Likes characters but surprisingly wouldnt be too invested in the plot
does not whale out of pride
Iwaizumi
Geo user
Uses characters he finds respectable in the storyline + hard hitters
Razor, klee, jean main but unaware of the family relationship
Sometimes uses beidou although her burst takes too long sometimes
Pretty casual player, only started because of Oikawa
Hanamaki
obviously he and matsukawa would make zhongli pillar dick jokes
Kaeya and beidou main (he thinks they’re cool)
Not that impatient to wait for bursts to charge or has a lot of energy recharge
whale
Matsukawa
……. Hutao main
funeral home
Would use qiqi and hutao together for the meme then grows to genuinely like qiqi
Saves up for a really long time then spends it all at once
Kindaichi
Doesn’t play much tbh
Offline for a week, comes back to do commissions for one day, leaves
Kunimi
Hed be pretty good
but lazy and forget to do dailies
then buy welkin moon instead
Focuses more on the story too rather than gameplay and points out loopholes
Mains whoever he has in his team with good synergy (like chongyun xingqiu xiangling)
Kyoutani
Rage quits 5 minutes in after hearing paimon’s voice 😔
Throws his phone at the wall
Yahaba
Simps for jean
Mains jean
Dedicated to dailies and spiral abyss
But doesn’t wish that much
Was the one who tried getting kyoutani into it and suffered the consequences
Nekoma
Kuroo
ENTP king raises a whole arsenal of characters for spiral abyss
I cant see him really getting attached to one in particular ?
makes zhongli pillar dick jokes every chance he can get
but also uses him for utility
Wants to try using a whole bunch of characters and wishes on every banner
But uses the meta ones with good team comps
sparks twitter debates with ….. interesting takes
“_____ is completely shit”
Kenma
OH BOY HES A GAMER GAMER
Whale whale whale whale
He’s tony to
Best synergy teams, understands the value of elemental mastery, REALLY values good supports, calculates possible damage numbers
Kazuha, zhongli, bennett, venti are a staple in his teams
Helps hinata and kuroo until kuroo teases too much by deliberately playing horribly
mildom and youtube streamer like murase ayumu
Appreciates story and lore very much too
Yaku
he’d LOVE the children
Probably would use characters that remind him of family members and friends
Klee, diona, qiqi, chongyun, xingqiu, razor, bennett
does spiral abyss but not obsessively
Lev
KENMA-SAN!!! LETS PLAY TOGETHER!!!
I’m sorry he would not know how the game works
Doesn’t do the ascension quests and gets stuck at AR 26 with 500k extra points
Thinks he’s amazing but it’s because he’s stuck at world level 1
I’m sorry lev ily but ……. its the truth
Tries pulling for everyone too and mains the first 5 star he got
(childe because he’s russian AKSHDKDHSKSHS /j)
Wants diluc and xiao because they look cool but gets Mona instead (doesnt understand how to use her)
Yamamoto
Also raises the women like tanaka but + kaeya
Lev complained to him about getting Mona while he’s wanted Mona for months
Not really a dedicated intense gamer EXCEPT for during those battle events
Fukurodani
Bokuto
WANTS THE STRONG AND COOL LOOKING 5 STARS
Eula, zhongli, diluc, xiao
but doesn’t know how to build either
doesn’t understand stats
would feel really bad for qiqi
Wouldn’t like signora for hurting venti :(
Wouldn’t like childe too :( until he plays the story quest and sees the ruin guard cutscene
then starts sobbing because of what a good brother he is
“AKAAAASSHI I wanna do that too!!!” then he dies
Tries to use childe but doesn’t understand the cool down management
Mispronounces and misspells tartaglia (タルタリア)
for more info on how bokuto plays genshin see Kimura ryohei’s YouTube channel ✨
Akaashi
the true childe main (just like me)
Uses characters based on utility
but mains whoever reminds him of bokuto FJDHFJFJDKSJ
Very good supports but unlike Kenma, he chooses and builds supports around his main
also uses very good supports so people won’t realize he’s using childe for the cv kimura ryohei (everyone knows anyway)
Literature nerd appreciates the plot, writing and deep lore too
Konoha
Tries pulling for everyone but has REALLY bad luck
Has really good characters but never the one he wants
loses all 50/50s and has a c4 qiqi
Ends up maining qiqi as dps
sorry konoha i didn’t mean to slander you
Shiratorizawa
Ushijima
does not know how to play or build
Uses whoever he has (aka starters)
Only plays because tendou downloaded and made an account for him
Doesn’t know how to ascend characters or farm
Forgets about talents (me)
Weirdly good RNG and doesn’t realize it 😩
“Let me look at your account wakatoshi-kun”
“Sure”
“You didn’t tell me you had 6 of jean’s Stella fortuna???”
“What’s that?”
Tendou
this man pulls for the seiyuus
Mains childe, hutao, mona for 5 stars
childe and hutao’s instinct based quickswap playstyle works so well for him!
jokes about cosplaying mona then actually does
Knows how to build, grinds, and manages ushijima’s account for him
Probably whales too
Shirabu
Meta meta meta meta
But f2p meta
Loves setting up reactions
More into the lore too and researches theories
Remembers actual names of boss drops
Semi: so how many of those buttplugs do you have again
Shirabu: 💢stop calling them buttplugs, they have actual names 💢
VERY diligent with battle pass, dailies, achievements and spiral abyss full stars
Until he //SPOILERS gets into med school and has no time for shit
Inarizaki
Atsumu
Would have a crush on a character I just know it
Invests heavily on his faves and is great at utilizing each of them
fussy . complains about a certain unit and how they can improve
or complains about how the game can improve to osamu
Osamu: yer just saying that cuz you couldn’t get a high score
Archons main (already saving for the tsaritsa)
Wouldn’t have a main dps but several hard hitting supports
Whale and falls victim to the weapon banner
Osamu
More casual player than Atsumu but still tries to get higher than him in events and spiral abyss
If atsumu’s a whale, osamu’s a dolphin
Great at dodging
Catalyst user!!
Mains ningguang, klee, yanfei + other catalyst supports
Also uses keqing
Kita
the man appreciates routine aka VERY diligent with dailies, battle pass, farming
“if you do things properly results will follow” or whatever quote he said ✨
Starter team but raises other characters for abyss
Reads dialogue and appreciates the plot
Barely gachas
Aran
will defend TO THE DEATH the underappreciated characters
Has empathy for noelle 🥺🥺
Noelle, Barbara, xinyan, bennett, children user 🥺
Talks to every NPC and loves the backstories and lore
also would feel really bad for qiqi
Suna
Uses the tall men and women and builds them all as dps (childe zhongli diluc kaeya beidou ningguang jean lisa rosaria eula)
He’d probably make a support character a dps tbh
Disregards team synergy for the shits but somehow manages to do domains and abyss
Itachiyama
Sakusa
c6 everyone
leaves

Do you ever think that fandoms over analyse stuff?
I've been a fan of ships in haikyuu and honestly lot of meta makes me feel the characters are so much more intimate but then if this wasn't the intent of the writer would you be disappointed?
Almost always, yes but as long as you're aware that there's a good possibility that subtextual crumbs won't get followed up on, it's all in good fun. This is especially true with ship meta. Like it's one thing to analyze every episode and compile boatloads of meta on why Keith and Lance are in love and a wholly nother thing to convince yourself that they'll end up together in an explicitly textual way. Like, the distinction is important. Ship meta, when not related to canonical ships, also tends to be a lot of extrapolation (especially true in haikyuu where the only canon pairing is tanaka and kyoko)
Personally, I've been in fandom too long to care about the author's intentions all that much. Sure, sometimes they can be interesting (forever curious on which ships in hq Furudate intentionally left crumbs for and which ones he didn't) but overall, I care more about what's on the page as far as analysis goes. Plus, most of my ships tend to be the sort that I don't expect the author to ever canonize ie kurodai.

For the writer asks! - 5, 8, 14, 19 and 20 💖
ahh, thank you!! ٩(◕‿◕)۶💖
meta asks:
5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
I'm primarily writing for JJK (& a bit of Haikyuu!! too) atm, so I'd have to say Megumi. He's always struck me as a more introverted character than broody or stoic; he's pragmatic but has moments where emotion overrides his logic, cares so much about his few close family/friends, and is developing confidence in himself/his abilities, all of which I can definitely relate to. Also, we both think Yuuji is the epitome of goodness and sunshine, so there's that lol.
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
Overall, yeah! Sometimes I get in a mood for some light angst, but not often, which is why the majority of my fic is hurt/comfort and fluff. I also enjoy reading long fic, as well as fantasy AUs (I'm actually a huge sucker for pirate/mermaid AUs!), though I don't really write them myself anymore.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
Oof, usually at the end right before posting. Very rarely do titles make themselves known to me beforehand or during a fic. I usually just browse through my pretty words tag until I find something that feels right lol. I think plant kisses like seeds and love's only demand is that we fall are the only titles that were 100% known before the fic(s) were written.
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
For sure! Y'all know I love tropes like first kisses, friends-to-lovers, sharing a bed, and nightmare-induced h/c. I've written a couple of fics using some variant of the phrase "hands out in front of [them] like [they're] placating a wild thing", because the symbolism of earning the trust of a frightened creature in relation to emotionally fragile characters is just *chefs kiss* to me, and I know I use "startled out of [their] reverie" a lot. I give a lot of attention to describing heartbeats and eyes too, I think. (Sometimes I get a little too in my head about it when I realize I'm reusing the same tropes/adjectives/phrasing but I figure that's just my writing style.)
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Ugh, I wish I could answer this question for LOD because I could probably ramble about that for a while, but since it's not published yet I hope this is okay! I remember writing this section of on purpose, i love him and wondering if anyone would catch on to the double-meaning:
Love is the greatest curse of all, he remembers Gojo saying once, not directed at Megumi but hollow beneath his breath as if he were reminding himself, and although his eyes had been covered Megumi could tell his gaze was far away, focused on some distant memory that he couldn’t begin to imagine. Of all the lessons Gojo’s taught him over the years, this is the one that Megumi understands best.
He fell in love with a dead man, after all. The fact that he manages to return doesn’t make that fact any less true. Still, despite knowing this can only end in tragedy, Megumi chooses Itadori anyway. Grabs on with a white-knuckled grip and refuses to let go no matter the inevitable agony because Megumi’s a sorcerer and sorcerers exist to exorcise curses and Itadori Yuuji the boy deserves to be loved wholly.
Which is that Megumi, as a sorcerer, intends to exorcise the "curse" of love by allowing himself to love Yuuji unconditionally (Idk if that makes sense??). Also, it's a bit of a parallel to SatoSugu's relationship, though ItaFushi's is (hopefully) headed for a better endgame.

Hmmm, I dunno why I imagine this but, what happens if MC made the brothers (+undateables if possible) watch human world anime, what anime should it be??
Sure I will just use anime that I watched. I'm calling myself out here lol.
These are just recommendations to them, not really a reaction. It would just be you and them sitting somewhere being comfy and cuddling with you while watching any of these.
                                                   Leviathan
Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen) - No brainer here. It's a romcom with a lot of shojo insider jabs. It's funny and meta. Also the main characters are cute together. (JUST DATE ALREADY)
Pretty Rhythm (and it's male version king of prism)
sion)- So this is an ice skating/idol kinda think. It has music, fashion, and some good drama. It gets very strange. This series is a delightful drug trip. Especially the king of prism movie/series is something else. Well I just want Levi to wtf about it with me.
(Yeah it can get a bit boring since it's an idol anime. Much like the Pripara series, but like at one point one girl gets processed by a dress. Where else can you get that?)
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei Bu Love!) - It's a magical boy series. It's 90 percent comedy and 90 percent gay, the rest is hot springs. It's honestly a lot of fun. As a lover of magical girl anime Levi will surely enjoy this spoof of the genre. (Also watch Cute High Earth Defense Club Happy Kiss!)
Zombieland Saga - Zombie Idol girls. Enough said. It's honestly fun to watch.
*Literally every anime you have ever seen*
                       Satan
The Case Files of Jeweler Richard (Housekisho Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei)- This one is like a detective story but with gemstones. It's very interesting. It has some interesting facts and it's a bit like Holmes and Watson but without murder. *Also Richard looks very good*
Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen)- A girl that loves books gets reborn into a world where books don't exist, so she has to find a way to make them herself. This is a very good anime. The heroine is very knowledgeable and it's a fun anime to watch. (Dr.Stone is also an anime that is a bit similar to this one, so might as well watch that too.)
             Beelzebub
Yakitate!! Japan - An anime about making bread in Japan. It's an a bit older anime and it's pretty long but it is pretty interesting. It follows a typical sport anime formula but with bread.
Haikyuu!! - Volleyball anime. The boys are pretty hot. *My fave is Kenma.*
           Asmodeus
Free! - Hot boys in swimwear. What else do you need? *You all watched this one already*
Yuri on Ice - Ice Skating but with romance. *I don't need to explain this one.*
                          Lucifer
Chihayafuru - Japanese poem memory sport? I'm not sure how to explain this but just picture a sport anime but with more drama. It's somehow very interesting. * I dunno how good it fits but it got poems so well?* I recommend regardless.
Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life - School/Sport/club anime but about learning the Koto. It has classical music and an interesting drama. Even some romance.
                  Mammon
Senryuu Girl - This one is about a girl that just communicates with Senryuu poems. She doesn't speak and the anime doesn't “fix” her. The boy in this one is an ex delinquent but a very good boy. It's very sweet.
Astra Lost in Space(Kanata no Astra)-some teenagers get lost in space. (It's much more than that but I don't want to spoil anything). Good drama/mystery, nice locations and good romance. Mammon might learn something from the resident Tsundere.
             Belphegor
Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama?- Anime about cute cats and dogs but they look like humans sometimes. It's cute and funny, the episodes are pretty short and lighthearted for the most part. *One episode is heartbreaking*
Mewkledreamy - Magical? Girl anime. They go into other people's dreams. (I dunno why I watch this one either. I think it was the cat plush)
               Barbatos
Black butler - Not to call anyone out but you know. He is one hell of a Butler.
                  Diavolo
Dance With Devils- I just love this anime so much. Demon musical with romance. I just feel like he will enjoy this one. *I use every excuse I can to at least add one otome anime lol*
Simeon
My Roommate is a Cat (Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue.)- It's about a guy that adopts a cat. It's cute and it's sad and the cat is very cute. Also the guy is an author.
                            Luke
Pretty Cure - The entire library of all the different series. That will keep him busy. It has some good friendship and team lessons. Also magical girls and pets.
Yumeiro Patissiere - is a very cute anime about a girl that wants to become a Pastry Chef. It will probably give you diabetes.
So here we go. Shoutout to the 500 anime that I didn't add.
Feel free to add some of your own.

Another Haikyuu ask! (Hope you haven't answered this one yet. XD) Which are your favorite ships and favorite platonic relationships? :3
Tumblr media
I’m not sure about my favorite platonic relationship I’ll have to think on that more. However, I can do a meta on my absolute favorite ship in the series which is Bokuto and Akaashi. Everything I love about the ship is in the story itself. I think Furudate explains their dynamic perfectly. Let’s explore them some more under the cut.
1. We are the Main Characters of This World
Tumblr media
What makes the relationship work so well is how much Bokuto and Akaashi complement each other, and contribute to each other’s development without really ever becoming codependent. They are two separate people with two seperate lives. They are total opposites. Yet, they’re kind of the same person.
Tumblr media
One of Bokuto’s central flaws is how much of a weirdo he is. His eccentricities make him more needy than other people, more demanding, harder to deal with, harder to figure out. Bokuto has these dual aspirations to stand out more than anybody else (because he’s a bit of a diva), but also to have people surrounding him who can just keep up with him, because the reason his eccentricities are a flaw that hold him back is because his behavior can sometimes isolate him, or drive other people away.
Bokuto is uniquely driven, and he doesn’t find a lot of people who naturally share that drive. Bokuto can be a little confusing, but often people don’t really make the effort to try to understand him, or keep up with him. Bokuto seems like a big weirdo, but he’s actually quite serious and focused it’s just what he’s focused on is different than what everybody else focuses on.
Tumblr media
Bokuto’s foiling with Kiryu is just that. Kiryu can’t really understand Bokuto so he kind of projects this false image onto him. That’s why he can’t overcome him at all or even face against him in the tournament. But, sometimes Bokuto’s own friends and teammates will do that too because they can’t keep up with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bokuto’s flashback shows us, he sort of puts all of himself into the things he’s serious about. People who don’t understand that get left behind. So, what Bokuto both respects and needs in a person is someone who can put all of themselves into something and disappear into it, to take things seriously the way he does. Bokuto says he’s just having fun but nobody takes more fun seriously than him. He wants someone who puts their best effort into keeping up with him.
Tumblr media
Which is why Bokuto so uniquely values Akaashi. On the outside Akaashi just looks like a normal person. He’s not a star setter like Oikawa, or Kageyama. He’s not someone who is playing volleyball in highschool who is aiming to be a professional or even in the top 5 like Bokuto. However, even though Akaashi is not a star player, when he does something he puts all of himself into what he does in the exact same way that Bokuto does.
Tumblr media
These are the two things which are emphasized in Akaashi. He may not be a star player. He may not be an extraordinary talent. Yet, he always overanalyzes every situation, and puts a tremendous pressure on himself to give all of himself to the team and Bokuto.
On the outside they’re opposites. Bokuto is a star and Akaashi is just a normal person. Bokuto is the center of attention, and Akaashi is someone who quietly drifts to the side. Bokuto is high maintennance and Akaashi is low maintennance. Bokuto is loud and extroverted, Akaashi is quietly and extremely introverted.
Tumblr media
However, inside they are incredibly similiar because they both put this tremendous pressure on themselves. Akaashi at first views himself as a star player, but when he meets Bokuto he starts to see himself as more ordinary.
Tumblr media
I think much like Bokuto’s, Akaashi is also someone attention hungry, and someone who wants to stand out and be important he just never externalizes that desire because Akaashi keeps everything inside of himself.
Tumblr media
However, when he met Bokuto he didn’t really lose his place as a star. He didn’t suddenly become a normal person. When he found Bokuto he found a place where not only he was needed, but his passion was needed, and his dedication meant something to someone else. He actually started to care about volleyball more because he felt like his efforts were being rewarded. That’s why he put so much focus on Bokuto’s compliments. Akaashi isn’t a star player, but he’s Bokuto’s star.
The Fukurodani even comment on Akaashi as a secret weirdo. Inside he’s a lot like Bokuto. He has the same sense of showmanship, the same desire to stand out, and he wants someone who puts as much effort into things as he himself puts in. So, Akaashi may lack that star quality, he might not stand out, but he still puts all of himself into what he does and Bokuto sees that, and recognizes it as a special quality of Akaashi’s. Which in turn makes Akaashi feel recognized.
Tumblr media
But it’s not just Bokuto and Akaashi needing each other. The two of them work well together. Bokuto works better with people who will put the effort into keeping up with him. Akaashi works better with people who recognize him and his efforts when he’s so low key about everything.
Tumblr media
They’re internally very similiar so Bokuto knows Akaashi pretty well. That’s part of why Akaashi feels so much from Bokuto’s praise, because he feels like Bokuto knows him. He feels recognized. More than that. Akaashi is a drama queen the same way Bokuto is. It’s just Bokuto externalizes all of it, and Akaashi keeps it inside.
Tumblr media
It’s not a one way relationship. It’s not Bokuto being the baby and Akaashi being his caretaker. When Bokuto sees Akaashi break down, not only does Bokuto uniquely undertand the reasons why Akaashi is breaking down the same way that Akaashi puts so much effort into understanding Bokuto, but also Bokuto will perform better to pick up the slack because that’s what Akaashi is always doing to him. Neither of them ever really baby each other, because both of them expect so much out of the other. They’re always lookig at each other.
Tumblr media
When Akaashi and Bokuto are together they’re both stars. Even though to everybody else it looks like Akaashi is a normal person, and Bokuto is a star player. Akaashi’s efforts mean so much to Bokuto, that they end up both uplifting each other to star status. They are the stars of this world.

going on a haikyuu sports meta rant thing ok GO!
there’s something just so inherently GOOD about the teacher/student dynamic within a team or between two players. like hinata and bokuto, kageyama and sugawara, tsukishima and kuroo.
you have coaches of course. they’re there to—well—coach, obviously. they teach you the proper technique, show you the plays, work a little on your mental game. but no one really knows the game—how it’s played in real time, how it’s evolved over the years—as well as the players.
just today, at my OWN soccer practice, me and a freshman goalkeeper were putting our gloves on and jogging to the goal to get set up for a scrimmage. i went in first, played for a little, and then we switched.
when she went in, she asked me if i could point out anything that i saw she was doing wrong and help her out. i said yes, of course, and told her to ask questions if she needed to!! but i didn’t really understand how important that could’ve been to her until later.
i genuinely felt like kuroo telling tsukishima how to read block when she asked me how to set herself up on a corner kick. i felt like sugawara telling kageyama to basically chill out when i noticed her set position was pretty tense. as for the comparison of bokuto and hinata, we both just love soccer. our love for the sport keeps us going.
and the funny thing is, i’ve been in her place. i’ve had older goalkeepers telling me to relax my set position, i’ve had older goalkeepers remind me that soccer is FUN, i’ve had older goalkeepers instruct me on how to attack the ball in a 1V1.
enough about me, though. i guess what i’m trying to say is that, sure, coaches are important. of COURSE they are. they’re an integral part of a players growth within their sport.
a player needs a coach. but you know what a player needs just as much? a player needs teammates, acquaintances, good teammates and acquaintances that will be there to help teach them things and help them realize things that they hadn’t realized before.
as a sports player, i feel like the team and player dynamics is why i’ve fallen in love with haikyuu. i’ve been on bad, horrible, teams with horrible environments, and i guess that’s why haikyuu is so refreshing.
i need teammates and other players to guide me just as much as i need my coaches. so did hinata, so did kageyama, so did tsukishima.
they needed that guidance, and look where they are now.

So. I made a bet with my friend that I could get through Omegaverse Haikyuu fanfiction because he says I can’t so if I read https://archiveofourown.org/works/13330632/chapters/30514041 that I’m going to get free icecream and twenty bucks.
But still, Bokuaka! Bokuaka is beautiful, I should rant about it more actually
This is me talking about this fic as I read, so it’ll be updated until I finish
Note, I’ve finished and it’s very very long. You’ve been warned
There’s my review and meta at the end of this as well as some critiques
Spoilers ahead.
“The Jewel of Seijou”
THE WHAT NOW
IWAOIIII
Bokuaka is so fucking cute dear god.
Oh. It’s sinful now
Ushijima better stop throwing shade at my boi’s
“"I can't believe you all think that you can go against the crown and live!" Ushishima says silencing them all. The alpha was slowly emitting his pheromones wanting to show them all his superiority. No one said a word against him. "Toru! I didn't know you'll be as lowly to use your family name to gather us here!" The alpha seethed to the omega that could have been his wife. Iwazumi hackles raised and bared his lips at the beginning of a growl. "And you!" Ushijima turned to Bokuto full on emitting his pheromones making the rest of the alpha's shoulder hackle cautiously and Oikawa to cling at Iwazumi. But Bokuto meet Ushijima calmly, unfazed by the bloodlust while Akaashi was frozen to his spot but didn't show any emotion.”
So what we get out of this paragraph is
1) Bitchy Ushi. I love Ushijima don’t get me wrong he’s precious but like. This fic Ushijima? Son of a bitch walking up in here like “Toru! How dare you be so lowly—“ and fucking trying to dominate everyone.
2) Protective Iwaizumi. Protect the precious Seijou Jewel. Do it, fight for him, protect him he’s scared.
3) Is Ushijima salty because Oikawa didn’t choose him? Oh god, he is isn’t he.
4) Akaashi’s go to emotion isn’t emotion.
5) Shits about to go down, Bokuto is gonna flip eventually, if Ushi threatens anyone—it’d probably be Oikawa or Akaashi seeing as they’re omega’s—I can see Bokuto and Iwaizumi just flipping their shit.
God I’m way to invested. Why did I read this
USHIJIMA IS A COWARDLY LITTLE BITCH IN THIS FIC, STAB HIM HINATA
D O I T
Awww Kageyama cares, Tsukki cares
OH MY GOD TENDOU!
More people came surrounding them. "What the hell," Akaashi recognized Iwazumi's voice.
Iwaizumi’s reaction is the only respectable reaction.
Wait this has major character death in the tags
Fuck
Everyone has decided that Oikawa and Akaashi must be defended but just once I want them to flip their shit and kill someone. Just once.
Bokuto, Lev and Iwaizumi all want to protect Oikawa but Iwaizumi doesn’t even fucking trust em.
Why does everyone act like Nishinoya not wanting to move on so quickly is a bad thing? It’s perfectly reasonable and I hate how everyone is like “What’s wrong with you, do you not like us?” And getting super standoffish or snappish simply because Nishinoya loves Asahi so much and doesn’t want to feel like they didn’t need him.
I really don’t like how Nishinoya/Tanaka/Ennoshita became a thing in this fic. It would be cute if it didn’t just happen because Nishinoya was desperate and if he wasn’t he wouldn’t have fucked Tanaka.
Oh dear god I don’t want Kenma to die.
Oh thank god it’s okay.
Fuck I forgot they had boobs
Did Bokuto almost name the Kuroken baby Oya but changed last minute?
BO ISN’T COMING BACK IS HE?????????
I’m feelin a little sniffly. I might fucking cry over an Omegaverse fic. Oh how the mighty have fallen
Oh my god the stars. I don’t think Bo is coming back y’all. I’m so nervous
The fuckin royals aren’t getting Keiji. No. Nuh-uh FUCK THAT SHIT
THAT’S BOKUTO’S MATE STAY AWAY FROM HIM
-cue mac worrying about oikawa because seijou is allied with fukurodani and an easy way to tear seijou away from the alliance is to kidnap oikawa and iwaizumi might split to keep him safe and ushi fucking knows this and possibly tendou also oiks is pretty as fuck-
BOKUTO IS OKAY!
Iwaizumi making Bokuto promise to save Oikawa if things went to shit makes me so worried but the same time his lil speech made my IwaOi heart so happy.
Suga bby...
BOKUTO JUST KILLED A FUCKING CHILD
Tendou, Ushijima I never thought I’d say this but I fucking hate them right now. They better not hurt the other best Boi’s.
Ushijima is salty as fuck confirmed.
"You truly are a piece of art," Ushijima said gently ...."But not as beautiful as him," the alpha muttered as he threw the omega to the floor.
So, this little snippet sent disgusting shivers down my spine for two reasons.
1) Ushijima just yeeted Akaashi, my son and
2) Any reader knows who the ‘he’ Ushi is talking about is, the only person in this book who is said to be as beautiful as Akaashi. You guessed it, the boi who rejected Ushi-fucking-jima, Jewel of Seijou himself Oikawa Tooru.
The thing that grosses me out the most about this paragraph just on its own is that Ushijima is either guessing about what Oikawa looks like, or he actually knows which overall just gives me the heebie jeebies because Oikawa definitely didn’t want that. What makes my skin crawl in this little snippet is what Ushijima would do when if he got his angry little hands on Oikawa—or Iwaizumi, but Iwa would probably be killed or used as a bargaining chip.
Hmmmmm, I’m pretty sure Ushi is in love with Tendou but the beauty statement still stands possibly???? Unless specified otherwise, because Akaashi and Oikawa are canonically considered the most beautiful people in the fic.
Also this entire chapter just makes me feel so gross, fuck Ushijima man. Fuck him.
My Ushijima loving heart hurts reading this fic.
I just want Akaashi and Oikawa to straight up kill someone. Please, anyone who I don’t care about
I FUCKING SEE THE MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH WARNING AND I DON’T LIKE IT
FUCK
FUCK
FUCK
NOT BOKUTO
WAIT IS HE ALIVE
I WANNA SEE MY LITTLE BOY
HERE HE COMES
I WANT TO SEE MY LITTLE BOY
"I came right on time," Bokuto forced out his voice cracking with emotion. "Now I can engulf you in my arms and brighten your days despite the absence of the sun. You will no longer have to endure the cold winters alone. I'll be with you, I be there for you and our child," The alpha vowed his hands itching in need.
"Are you going to leave us again?" Akaashi needed to know. The omega already knew that he wouldn't be able to survive being apart from the alpha. He knew that he wouldn't win the battle with the overwhelming loneliness.
"The seas could dry up, the mountains could turn to pebbles, the trees could die and the whole world could be on fire and I still won't leave your side."
That was all Akashi needed to hear as he leaped into his alphas arm and let go of all the pain he has held in
I’m not crying I swear
They walked together side by side and Akaashi finally faced them. They were both beaten, bloody, and torn butinstead of feeling satisfaction he felt remorse. They both looked at him with soft, wide eyes, and he realized that this was the moment they were waiting for. They wanted to see the child that they both desperately wanted and Akaashi decided to give them a parting gift.
Akaashi had won, he had won from the very beginning and he held his trophy who was a small babe with golden orbs, with mutant white and black hair. He hadn't lied to Tendou when he had said that the baby looked exactly like his father.
OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOD I’M SOBBING DON’T TOUCH ME
Meta and Review
So I just read A/B/O for the first time and I knew absolutely nothing about the entire trope that Mpreg existed and to stay the hell away from it. Please remember this in the meta and tell me if there way of dividing characters is ever specified or if it’s just decided by top-bottom dynamics.
Wow.
The story was pretty good outside of what I’m about to talk about. I liked the ships and most of the buildup, the worldbuilding seems solid, the war and UshiTens situation was really interesting to me and it made Ushi and Tendou a bit morally gray and could’ve talked about how people could do bad things for what they thought were the right reason and everything was clean cut.
Overall? Eh. Could’ve been done better
Not onto the rest
This doesn’t seem as toxic or inherently bad as most fics I’ve seen, I didn’t really like how Omega’s are always inherently feminine—the dresses, jewels, how they’re seen as inherently weaker and sometimes helpless, how they’re always referred to as “my lady”—and aren’t really given another choice because they might have the ability to reproduce in A/B/O but they aren’t women. It’s okay if a man is really feminine but for all of them to be? It rubbed my the wrong way.
I wish that the power structure was handled different in A/B/O in general. Omega’s seem to be treated like they’re helpless and I just...don’t like it? Omega’s might be submissive but that doesn’t make them physically weaker and if it did, I would’ve thought they would have picked up some other useful skills like diplomacy or strategy.
As usually, my example of how a character could’ve been handled better is Oikawa.
He’s my favorite character and I adored him but he just didn’t really deliver. It felt like he was being treated like a kid throughout this entire fic, it didn’t seem like he was doing anything during the war. Even if Omega’s don’t have a lot of physically prowess and abilities, what happened to Oikawa’s strategic and analytical nature? Why was it never mentioned in any of Bokuto’s POV sections because out all the leaders of the Allied Kingdoms, Oikawa is the best strategist—Kuroo is the exception, not the rule and I thought they should’ve been working together because smort boys—but he was simply hidden away.
Now I have no problems with all the protective IwaOi scenes when they’re in immediate danger—it makes perfect sense if Omega’s are physically weaker but have other usable talents that are taken seriously—and Oikawa simply can’t talk his way out of said problem.
I do however, have a problem with cowering Oikawa. That feels so OOC at the beginning of the first scene I cited, where is all of the quick wit and worthless pride from the show? Now, it makes sense for Oikawa to start getting scared and simply slip behind Iwaizumi once Ushijima tries to dominate everyone and all the Alphas start freaking out if Oikawa is at an actual, physical disadvantage—I feel like the alpha’s their have similar frames, or at least most of them do. Bokuto, Ushijima, Kuroo and Iwaizumi are jacked and beefy, everyone but Iwa is relatively tall too. Now, Oikawa’s tall too but he’s much thinner and leaner. I’d be scared too if everyone could break me like a twig if it came down to it—but no ??? Apparently at the first sign of any conflict he just gets scared??? He doesn’t know what’s going on in his own fucking kingdom ???
This is not Oikawa.
I didn’t like how they treated most of the Omega’s actually, it felt like they were just reverted to helpless damsels in distress. What happened to Kenma’s observation skills? Nishinoya’s everything?
More importantly, what decides Alpha’s and Omega’s? Is it up in the air like gender is? What are Beta’s then? It can’t just be who’s top and who’s bottom, that would mean the alpha-beta-omega- status wouldn’t be decided until you had a mate
From what I’ve seen in the fic, it goes by ship dynamics but what if the characters who had more strategic, cunning, observant traits and weren’t as buff and muscly would be Omega’s and had the brain power while characters who relied more on physical prowess would be Alpha’s and dominant in a purely physical way sometimes while characters who were an odd combination of the two would be Beta’s.
Going by my logic, instead of the top being the alpha and the bottom just being an omega without any personality it would be...
Bokuto- Alpha, like he was in the story. He’s definitely more physically inclined then Akaashi.
Akaashi: Omega, same as in the fic. Not to say he isn’t athletic but he relies more on his mind.
Iwaizumi- Alpha, like in the fic but from a purely physical standpoint and because he can rein Oikawa in when his friend starts going nuts.
Oikawa - Beta, he’s quite powerful but he’s also manipulative, strategic and his mind is scary as fuck.
Kuroo- Beta, he relies on his physical prowess and dorkily perfect brain a lot so he’s also a mixture of both.
Kenma- Omega, physically he’s a twig but his mind is what makes him the brain of Nekoma
Hinata- Alpha, he doesn’t use his brain a lot and has a lot of physical power
Kageyama - Beta, he’s pretty smart when it comes to volleyball and he’s also physically strong
Suga - Omega, he’s quite clever and his brain power out ways his physical prowess by a landslide
Daichi- Beta, he firms strategies and relies on his brain, plus his killer thighs
Tsukishima - Beta, he has his hue fur and athleticism but his brain power is also strong as fuck
Yamaguchi - Beta, he seems to be really people smart and eventually his serves are pretty good.
Can Betas get into a relationship with other Betas? I don’t know or care, we stan Alpha-Alpha, Beta-Beta and Omega-Omega ships here
I DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS HOW IT WORKS THO
do I have to read more

what did you think of haikyuu's ending? (unless this isn't something u wanna discuss ofc!)
Hey anon, I'm so sorry for the late reply. I saw the message when I was busy and then forgot about it fhhdhdj my bad.
Anyway, to answer your question... To be completely honest, I always read haikyuu as more of a past-time manga, not focusing too much on it, you know? So my thoughts on it were always shallow observations and nothing was particularly meta-level (aside from maybe when I talked about nekoma).
So since my reading was pretty casual and not very invested, I always mistakenly perceived haikyuu's main theme to be something different from what it actually was. So that's why when nationals cut off and then there was a timeskip I was so confused and unsure if I liked it or not. Cause I had been expecting something different from the story, but Furudate went a completely different route than what I assumed would happen. Then, since the very last arc was focused on Hinata (a character I'm not fond of) and his rivalry with Kageyama (a theme I also wasn't fond of), I was pretty meh about the whole thing.
At some point though I came across a post that changed my understanding of what Haikyuu was actually about, which I will link here because I find it interesting. This... Changed so much about my perspective and made me realize that I had been reading the series under the wrong lenses all along, and basically gave a good explanation for all the little things that had always made me lowkey salty.
So I eventually ended up reading the remaining chapters with a different attitude, and I was able to enjoy them more. To this day, Haikyuu is quite possibly the only manga series I finished whose ending didn't leave me bitter or disappointed. Sure, there are little things (like, I wish Kuroo had appeared sooner but it made perfect sense for that asshole to make a dramatic grand entrance at the end, deliver one (1) cool line, and then disappear again, lmao) but they're very minimal and I feel like Furudate did a good job of wrapping things up, even going as far as giving us career information for ALL the characters who had made an appearance, and that's. Big. Cause there's a lot of them. And most manga series, esp big name ones, usually fail to deliver on that front or leave massive loose ends, you feel?
Anyway, I parted from haikyuu with my heart feeling light, and that was a good feeling because that series meant a lot to me a couple of years ago, back when I was neck deep into the fandom, and I'm glad that my limited understanding of its themes was eventually corrected before I could come to dislike something that I had previously enjoyed so much :')

Hi! I know that Free! has been letting you down lately, and I don't even know if you still care for it and the fics your wrote for it, but I really wanted to praise you for everything you've written for it. I love how in character everyone is, and your AUs are incredible, I'm sure you've heard a lot due to your Pacific Rim fics, but I have never seem someone expand an universe so much, it's one of my favorites! I hope this year's new season pulls you back, because I'd love to read more from you!
(same anon) After all the Free! fics, I went and read all of the others (you even got me into Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi, I can't believe I've never watched it before!).Some stories made me wish there was more after the ending, because you created such an interesting universe or situation, I don't know how many times I've read "For All Appearances", and even the Merman!AU and Pirate/Siren!AU were so amazing! You also made me wish for more Haikyuu!! (And maybe No.06?) I just really love your writing!
(same anon again, but it's the last one!) I was also wondering if you are part of any discord server out there? I've been seeing some posts about Sharkbait, and just last week I saw a Victuri one! You just seem nice to talk to, and write a lot of meta with, that's why I'm asking! Keep being awesome and thank you for your contributions throughout all these fandoms! (I also hope my English was ok, after all these asks!)
Thanks for these nice, fun comments! *blushes profusely*
As you can probably see, your asks were amazingly timed RIGHT as actually exciting new Free! content came out XD So I’m feeling a lot more excited for the new season than I was, say, 12 hours ago lol.
It’s definitely been a fandom that has given me a lot to work with, both canon-wise and character-wise, and I sometimes wonder if I’ll be able to find another fandom I feel that inspired by (I LOVE YOI, probably more than I loved Free! even at its peak, but I don’t feel like I have to add too much to it! It’s just perfect as it is! And so many others are writing great things for it already XD).
I dunno if I should be glad or apologize about SekaKoi XD; It’s another fun fandom as far as interesting characters go, but lord is the canon a train wreck. You just can’t tear your eyes away and at the same time you’re like, “Why am I still reading this..........???” XD
I haven’t had much time of late to hang around on Discord servers--around the time I started to hear about them, I also started working on a huge fic that I’m STILL working on for Harry Potter fandom, so I haven’t had a chance to catch my breath XD The fic will be finished in the next month or so (and released around August, yay!), though, so hopefully that’ll be just in time for new Free! content to get excited about :3
I’m always around on tumblr, though, either via asks or messages, so anyone who feels like gabbing, hmu!

Hi esselle- i’m A new haikyuu manga reader and was a bit confused about some character stuff. I got to the part where Kageyama is invited to the special Tokyo training camp, and the part where he rubs it in Hinata is just really unpleasant. They usually are competitive, but this just felt cruel. I was wondering, What did you make of that scene?
Hi anon! I think the context of this scene changes (or at least the blow is softened) quite a bit once you’ve read through the full arc that this moment kicks off. I just talked to/consulted with @mysecretfanmoments and @reallycorking about this part and apparently I was MUCH less emotionally gutted by this moment than they were, oop. But Val has alternate thoughts that took place in real time regarding this chapter here and here! We all kind of agreed that, in hindsight, a lot of the ensuing chapters really help to put this moment in perspective, for both characters. But here are my thoughts on just this scene (with no spoilers):
I guess first off, I thought Kageyama really was being unpleasant there XD he’s totally rubbing it right in Hinata’s face. But it is canonical that Kageyama can be unpleasant, especially when he gets competitive. And he has, we know, a lot of trouble understanding how to spare people’s feelings in the first place, even when he’s not actively trying to be a shit. This is the guy who said he would never toss to Hinata, because he didn’t believe Hinata was essential to winning, and I don’t think that lack of awareness has faded.
But secondly, I think this is a pretty normal interaction for these two, especially in Kageyama’s eyes. They frequently attempt to get under each others’ skin over exactly this kind of thing. So I think for sure, Kageyama is just waiting to turn to his rival with the most triumphant “HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW, ASSHOLE” ever. He’s riled up! This is huge for him; it’s his dream. I think sparing Hinata’s feelings on the matter might have been more out of character than what he does in that moment. What he’s not processing is that not only has Hinata just been denied the opportunity to go to the All Japan camp (which he really did not have a shot at, sorry Hinata), but also the Shiratorizawa camp (which he did deserve a shot at), so it stings a lot more, both for Hinata and for us reading. But, I don’t think Kageyama himself intended it to be as mean as it came off.
NOW – to get more meta, there’s two times in the series so far where Hinata has gotten mad enough to physically come after Kageyama. The first was Kageyama apologizing after the Seijoh match, and the second was their big fight. Both outbursts stem from the same source: Hinata feels like Kageyama is doubting their partnership.
So, why is this time different?
I think partially because they understand how they work together much better at this point in their relationship. But also, the sentiment, at its core, is different. Kageyama doesn’t say “I’m leaving you behind,” he says “I’ll be going on ahead” because he’s assuming Hinata will catch up.
When Hinata makes up his mind to crash the youth training camp, this is the image in his mind:
Tumblr media
Hinata knows Kageyama is better than him. But that fact, and this training camp business, are no excuse to stop trying to catch up.
I won’t say too much more, but given many of Kageyama’s actions and way of thinking in the upcoming chapters, I think he fully expected Hinata to work harder because of this, to overcome that gap. He keeps Hinata at the back of his mind throughout. But in the series, this moment and the chapters beyond it are a huge development arc for Hinata’s character, and I think Kageyama’s jab is what kicks it all off.
Closing statements: what if Kageyama’s face right there is so awful because he’s just so excited that he’s trying to smile and fucking it up as usual??? this is probably the actual intent of this scene, forget everything else I said
