Six months. Six long months...

That's how long it took for me to finish Giga Alice.

First, the process was going smoothly...

Then, art projects after art projects...

Art block after art block...

Made what was going to be a relatively quick and funny shit post...

Into six months of hell.

Yes, everyone, you read that right...

GIGA ALICE is FINALLY done!!!!!

So, what took me so long?

Well, as the top half of the post states; Art blocks and other projects, mostly.

Butt, we're here now, and she is looking mighty fine.

Giga Alice is the 4th of 4 artworks I've previously completed, all based on my personal Jesus, Spartan Jerome 092.

Now, for those knowing that we're missing one more; be not afraid- Douglas and a few more are coming. Not soon, but they are gonna be sketched out at some point :p

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

When Chloe is extending support or soft words to Nadine really gives me the feels. I'm thinking about it whenever I think about Lost Legacy 2/Second Legacy recently :(

I try to make them all sweet and fluffy tbh (even my raw sex stories can't escape the sweet moments). Surprise and Home and Hearts that want more (Nadine adopts a baby from a fallen plane) have a lot of sweet interactions between our two treasure hunter nuggets

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

I have yet another draft for the start of Second Legacy. I can see it in my head. So it starts in medias res in the field where Nadine is looking through binoculars watching a bunch of soldiers from a forested canopy and calling Chloe on the phone "where the hell are you?" because she needs backup to take these mfers on and then like a wild Halo glitch a beater car flies out of a cliffside and Chloe leaps out the door at the last minute and the car barrels directly into the soldiers. Pandemonium breaks loose and Chloe and Nadine drop into an underground entrance the soldiers were guarding in the meantime and Nadine is glaring at Chloe because she was late. Again. And Chloe is like "What?" Oh my god hire me nougat doge

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

I can't choose just one headcanon for Nadine because all of them are so weirdly precious to me. I love the characters I've made for her family and Loyiso and Jordan's feud and how it is set up beside Matthew and David's juvenile war they're always on. I love the image of Nadine's apartment that is somehow so vivid in my mind. I just love living in the fake world I made for this character whenever I write fics where Nadine is home. I wish I could do the same for Chloe but I have no idea where she canonically lives?

Top 5 video game trailers?

Oooo good question. Narrowing down this list was tough, not gonna lie.

5. Skyrim's Official Trailer - from the before times before Skyrim became a total meme - still goes absolutely hard. The slow ramping up of the chanting in the music, the narrator's words alongside the dragon, the panoramics of this beautiful world that was miles ahead of Morrowind and Oblivion, the promise of this open world to explore full of history battling these dragons and gaining the power they hold? Absolutely fantastic. Plus it has the *greatest* parody trailer

4. Total War: 3 Kingdoms' Mandate of Heaven DLC I think is pretty magnificent. It does a *phenomenal* job of illustrating the situation that led to the Yellow Turban Rebellion that the DLC centers around, and the imagery of Zhang Jue reaching for the sun trying to grasp it as he would try to wrench the Mandate of Heaven away from Liu Zhi and the Han Dynasty as they see the new day dawning knowing what's coming, the brilliant music, Dong Zhou is there, and the fact that it uses in engine assets delights me to no end.

3. Destiny's Become Legend Trailer If there was ever a trailer that captures how Destiny *actually* plays, it's this. While the game touts this sort of Space Opera Sci Fi Epic with Serious Stakes, the players are often *exactly* like this. The clans I've been a part of love doing stupid stuff and cracking one liners, and it showcases the fun that can be had. Also, live action trailers are an absolute delight.

2. The Halo Reach 2009 E3 Announcement Trailer. I cannot stress how when I saw this back in high school it got me on the edge of my seat and left me with shivers from it. I spent so much time in high school playing Halo with my friends, that this sits in my mind as the peak of all that. Halo Reach is still my favorite of the series to this day. It's simple, but it's *so effective* to immediately grasp you and fill you with the same feeling you get before you drop into the rollercoaster that is that game. 1. Mass Effect 2's Launch Trailer - from the epic music from Two Steps From Hell, to the way it uses basically 100% in game assets and scenes to showcase itself, it's a masterclass in making a trailer that hooks in and gives you a taste of what to expect from what has been one of Bioware's greatest games. THIS is how you do a trailer - you showcase just enough to get the player excited to see who these new characters are, what this new threat is, and how the stakes have been risen, narrated by an in universe character to draw the player in and immerse them immediately.

Spinning off this response into a separate post because the previous one was already too gatdamn long but yeah, raytracing is a meme. Like, it's impressive on a technical level to be able to realistically simulate light, but for the last 20ish years game devs have (in a general sense) gotten really good at faking lighting. Outside of freaks (affectionate) like Digital Foundry, I don't think I've ever heard people gripe about unrealistic lighting in video games.

The nicest thing about the push for raytracing as far as I'm concerned is that when games have the ability to turn it off (or don't have it at all), the PS5 and Series X shine as "better performance boxes". They can't brute force AAA nightmares from poor performance, or optimize shovelware like Gollum or King Kong, but I think the only PS5 game I've played that has had noticable issues with performance is Stranger of Paradise, because Square-Enix still has some of that Size Queen brainrot from the XIV 1.0 days.

Besides that, there have been scant few "next gen" games.

Sony's Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is the first For Real Tentpole Sony has published for the PS5 that is exclusive to the PS5: Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok were on PS4, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal aren't console-movers.

Circling back to Square-Enix, they have been making an effort to push next-gen, but unfortunately their PS5 exclusives to date have been FF7 Remake Intergrade (DLC), Final Fantasy XVI (fine), and Forspoken (lmao).

Microsoft has put out one (1) game: Halo Infinite, which as far as I can tell died on impact (and also was available on the Xbox One). Even if you want to count Redfall (lmao), Hi-Fi Rush, and Starfield- which I don't, because they were all in active development well before Bethesda was acquired- all of Microsoft's exclusives are also on PC, which inherently removes some of the awe of "CHECK OUT THESE NEW CONSOLES!!!"

The situation is unlikely to improve very much any time soon; the only Microsoft exclusive with an actual release date is Obsidian's Avowed, and dollars to doughnuts, and the only non-live-service game I'm aware of from Sony is Insomniac's Wolverine, which is still also not dated.

My earnest hope is that Nintendo announces a Switch successor that is roughly as strong as a PS4 Pro/Xbone X (or stronger, but there are limits to plausibility), and that between that and how strong mobile phones are these days developers will just start targeting those platforms as their "primary" benchmark. Then, anything multiplat released on PS5/Series X can just take advantage of the extra power to run and look a little nicer, while Sony and Microsoft can focus on making exclusives that highlight Why You Should Buy Their Consoles.
