nbc hannibal really makes me giggle. there is no other show like this out there.
tome-wan: hannibal says close your eyes and imagine what you'd like to happen. and will pictures cutting hannibal's throat and watching him get lowered into mason's pigpen to be viciously devoured. it's all very dramatic. then will opens his eyes and hannibal's like what did you see? :3 then...
THE MUSICAL CUE!!!!!! it's like the happiest little piano and will smiles oh-so slowly at hannibal and he doesn't say a freakin word!!!! :) i laugh every time! that's comedy folks!!!!!

Will cuts things in the kitchen with his fingers way too close to where the knife is going and nearly gives Hannibal a heart attack nightly

I don’t want to reveal which country I come from, but I would like to share my personal the most infuriating mistranslations made by translators in my country in regards to Hannibal:
1. Instead of “We couldn’t leave without you”, we got “I couldn’t leave without you.”.
2. Total omission of Will’s “Didn’t I?” in Mizumono. In Primavera they translated it tho.
3. Instead of “If I saw you every day forever, Will, I would remember this time.”, we got, “I will remember this moment.” (with a long moment of Mads still speaking in English, so you cleary could heard that he said not only this “I will remember this moment.”).
4. Instead of “murder husbands” we have “a pair of murderers”.
5. The moment I fully realized that the translators in my country had decided to neglate the love of Hannibal and Will (and started to worry how much of homoerotic tension they omitted): instead of Bedelia saying, “Could he daily feel a stab of hunger for you and find nourishment in the very sight of you? Yes.”, we got, “Would he like to eat you at the sight of you? Yes.”.
Excuse me—

rereading Red Dragon and continuing to be as absolutely haunted by this bit in the foreword as I was the first time I ever read it. Thomas Harris talks about how he writes his fiction books imagining that he’s walking through scenes with his characters, because he started his career as a journalist and was used to writing about things he’d actually been at the scene of, and that the only difference between that and real life is that he’s invisible to his characters. Except for when he talks about the first time he imagined walking with Will Graham as he visits Hannibal Lecter and he says
“I was enjoying my usual immunity while working, my invisibility to Chilton and Graham and the staff, but I was not comfortable in the presence of Dr. Lecter, not sure at all that the doctor could not see me.”
You mean the fictional character you invented in your mind was so intelligent that he was aware he was a fictional character in your mind and could look back at you like you looked at him? Is that what you mean, Mr Harris? Why would you say that? Is that what you mean? That’s so freaking scaryyy
