u can tell im trying to get my shit together again bcs I'll put on the song "goodmorning" or "i wanna get better" by the bleachers which only serves the purpose of motivating me to help myself instead of hurting myself. so that's a pro tip. i don't think I've ever listened to those songs outside of periods of trying to get better after doing bad, to the point that my sister would recognize it when we lived together and would give me a little extra encouragement.

He’s super touchy, not only because he likes to feel close to you, but it keeps him grounded

That’s important to him because his disorders/ mental illnesses cause him to hallucinate or space out

He’s not gloomy he’s actually upbeat but when he remembers something from his past or the current state of his life he goes through episodes of depression and mood swings

They can get really intense and as you’re with him you’ll learn how to support him through it

Just laying with him, making sure he has water and reminding him you’re here for him will help lots and lots of physical affection

If his mood swings get violent he’ll isolate himself from you but it’s heartbreaking to hear his suffering

His swings can go from extreme anger to intense sadness to reckless happiness

Since he hasn’t had much kindness or interaction in his life he doesn’t have the best social skills

He’ll say whatever is on his mind with no filter and that includes you too

So he’ll say mean things unintentionally a lot because he doesn’t understand how what he says can be hurtful

And he might try to call you sensitive for it too

“Ugh you’re overreacting I didn’t even say anything that hurtful. It’s just what’s on my mind”

He literally doesn’t understand how it can make you feel because he’s a bit detached with emotions

It’s gonna take a while for him to understand but he loves you so he’ll try to understand for your sake and will work on apologizing

He can also just be rude or a jerk sometimes in general

Toby likes just spending time with you to the point where you’re connected at the hip

He won’t say he loves you with words but he says it with his actions

He brings you gifts, holds your hand, goes on walks with you, holds you and try’s to be better for you (even though it’s really hard because he’s set in his ways)

He talks a lot so sometimes you’ll just listen and smile

Since he can’t feel pain, when he gets back from missions you’ll have to help him check for injuries to make sure he’s okay

He doesn’t say it but he appreciates it

Sometimes he’ll just stare at you because he loves you so much, taking in your every detail

He notices everything about you, from your body language, how you tan in the summer and lighten in the winter, he even knows how many times you breathe in a minute

Toby eats a lot of instant ramen so be prepared to eat a lot of that at first but you start to cook for him because he needs to eat better

Toby never expected to have a girlfriend since he’s a lot to handle but he liked the way you handle him

He’s full of himself literally thinks he’s gods gift to earth so sometimes he puts himself before your relationship but he’s trying to change that

He’s really funny especially if you like dark humor

i wanna say before i get to the shippy stuff, he probably meant all kinds of love - not just romantic - so that makes things actually sad

i do think elpenor would be upset by it but not the cliche unrequited love 'oh he doesn't love me' greek tragedy route but like 'oh he doesn't think he can love. what does that mean for how he views himself?' i don't think he'd say anything about it cuz it's probably a very common thing for peri to say and there may have been times where he was 'what do u mean by that haha' that ended in awkward sad silence

peri's song has the saddest fucking lyrics with the most upbeat tune (and along with jay's silly dancing and the lyrics in what elpenor says about him) and that just shows he's putting on this cocky, persona to hide his true emotions. 'can't fail if i don't try' just makes it seem like he tries to stop himself from loving cuz that's difficult with his state right now. if he just keeps everything surface level and goofy appearance wise, no one will pick up on who he truely is.

but elpenor would see through that as he says it the song. if you've seen my drawing for it, you can see i clearly took the 'you don't know him like i do' lyric to mean they're already together in some way - it's not a pining situation. i think that it probably started of as a tentmate sex thing but grew to be romantic. i do think neither have said anything about it, peri because he doesn't want to love. it's too hard right now because admitting he wants love means admitting he wants TO love and that's hard.

elpenor is happy to keep things in this grey area where they - and everyone else - knows they're in love but haven't said anything about it for the sake of peri but it would hurt him. he wants to love and he's ready but what hurts him more is the possibility that peri doesn't love himself.

but the gist is, he would be upset personally ofc. he knows there is a deeper reason to it, those words would probably hurt. the reason he'd actually be upset is because of what peri's ideology means on how he views himself. that would hurt him and i like to think polites would be there for him to talk to ( they're both really sweet and they'd be great friends i think) about what he should do and stuff.

also i'm not saying 'he just like me fr fr!!' but, the idea that peri hides his depression in the way he does is pretty similar to how i used to be (and get sometimes) and the 'i can't love ppl' is a mentality i've had for a long time - i'm better now!! - cuz i didn't think they could love me. there is probably smth smiliar like that happening here with him.

Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot-Sparklehorse: Genuinely my favorite artist and album of all time. Fall asleep to Homecoming Queen often.

Siamese Dream-Smashing Pumpkins: Fire straight though. Good when you’re in a depressed 20-something mood. Better than Mellon Collie in my humble opinion.

Gorillaz-Gorillaz: The start of one of my favorite bands and objectively one of the best bands in the world don’t fight me on it I’ll kill you.

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots-The Flaming Lips: Solid album. Iconic cover art. “Do You Realize??” always got me feeling feelings

Violent Femmes-Violent Femmes: Top 3 favorite band. Every song went platinum in my household. Would have been higher but reminds me of my mom too much.

Dig Me Out- Sleater-Kinney: Got it because the name sounded familiar. Ended up loving them! Doesn’t sound right if it’s not played loud, though, and considering I live in an apartment, I don’t play it often.

Fear Yourself-Daniel Johnston: Got it because I love “Hi, How Are You” but haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Was pleasantly surprised! Hits the same melancholy spot but slightly more upbeat.

Figure 8-Elliot Smith: My favorite sad boy that definitely DIDN’T kill himself. Not my favorite Elliot album but every one of his albums is A tier personally.

Starfish- The Church: Only love one song on it, the only song anyone likes tbh. The rest are your standard 80s deal

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot-Wilco: Honestly should have been in A tier but all the pretentious music dudes I’ve met has soured this album for me so it goes in B outta spite. Jesus Etc my fave song tho

An Evening with Silk Sonic- Silk Sonic: Nice, short, gets me in a happy mood. Does what it needs to do!

C TIER-

Gigantic, Fuel, and The Nixons: I got all 3 on sale and they all sound the same and that sound is…ok? Like it’s alright background music

Blind Melon-Blind Melon: What was with 90’s bands putting random kids as their album covers? Decent listen, though.

Summerteeth-Wilco: Good background music. I can’t remember any songs off it.

Los Angeles/Wild Gift-X: I like X but I hate that fucking album art omg it’s so hard to look at. I like their songs individually but as a cohesive album, eh.

D TIER-

Throwing Copper-Live: bought it on sale with the above 3 but liked this one substantially less. Only redeeming quality to me is the album art.

You laid sprawled across your mattress in your dorm room. You melted into the multitude blankets covering your body, imagining the warmth of being cradled by your mother. The indescribable feeling of emptiness occupied your soul. You had tried everything in the past week to make the feeling go away; listening to music, hanging out with your friends, reading, even going as far as buying a coloring book. By no means, it was all hopeless. You were a mess.

Your room represented the state of mind you were currently in. Clothes littered throughout the carpeted flooring, homework papers left scattered across your desk, your dead laptop that remained open. Your curtains hadn’t been opened during the past three days. Your room was a cave. You chose to lock yourself away from the outside world and it was all over a failed relationship.

No matter what, you couldn’t get him out of your head. The hot-headed, arrogant, self-loathing excuse of a man.

You and Bakugo had been together for just about a year prior to your break up as of last week. You recounted the fond memories you had of the beginning of the relationship. The blonde had a soft spot for you to say the least. You were the only person he willingly talked to—even before you started dating. Bakugo told you it was because “you were the most tolerable”, but you begged to differ when you caught him staring at you in math class on numerous occasions.

Bakugo used to always find a way to make time for you in his overwhelming schedule. He may have been a busy guy, but nothing stopped him from seeing your pretty face in between his workouts and study time. You appreciated every second spent with him, loving him as much as you possibly could.

All that ran through your head was the blissful moments you had with Bakugo. You reminisced the good times. The high of sneaking around the dorm building together after hours creeping back into your depressive mind. The way Bakugo would always have his hands on you in some way. His arm slung over your shoulders as you laid your head against his shoulder. His thumb would glide over the skin of your arm, making you feel at ease. You loved how touchy he was. You missed it. Now all you could do was hold yourself and try to mimic the way he made you feel.

To everyone’s surprise, it was you who broke up with him. Your mutual classmates never would’ve guessed the hardships you faced throughout your time with Bakugo. You never complained, never visually showed any signs of not being okay, you were always upbeat and gleeful. That’s only because your friends were your distraction.

When you and Bakugo would have disputes or he was in a troubled mood, you would resort to going to your friends. You tried. You tried so hard to be there for him, to always check up on how he was doing. It just never seemed to be enough. He wouldn’t tell you how he was feeling or why he was acting the way he was. Bakugo was closed off to the world—and you weren’t an exception.

In the aftermath of it all, you were the one stuck at a standstill. You couldn’t function properly. This was the lowest you had ever been and it was all because of a stupid guy who could give less of a fuck about you and your well being.

You racked your brain, trying to recollect the truth behind the break up. All the arguments you had with each other, all the times he stood you up, every time he would lie to your face. You tried to come to terms with the broken promises and shattered chances that you endured. Yet, you would forgive him after it all. You were a pushover and you hated that.

You wanted to move on. You couldn’t stand to be stuck because of Bakugo. No matter how much you searched for the bad memories, there would always be a mirthful one resurfacing behind it all. You wanted to understand how it got this bad—how you allowed it to. Nothing put you at ease.

A knock came from your door. You hesitated before dryly shouting at the person on the other side, questioning who it was. When you received no response, you groaned, reluctantly pushing yourself up from the pile of blankets and stuffed animals.

You huffed, opening the door only to be met with the crimson gaze of your ex-lover. You could see the hurt in his eyes; the redness and glossy finish. Your eyes traveled his face, then the rest of his body. He carried a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a basket in the other.

“Hey.” Bakugo spoke after a moment of silence between you two.

“Hey.” You shamefully replied. You mentally face palmed, knowing you shouldn’t be talking to him. Instead, you should’ve slammed the door in his face, refusing any kind gesture he had to offer to you.

Who were you kidding? You couldn’t bring yourself to hate him.
